The way you write narration and dialogue in Golden Hour is so .. poetic and it feels important and real, it has an impact on my feelings a lot and it seems the words are picked carefully. You just write sentences so beautifully and precisely, or mysteriously, it depends. Lately, "this routine emptiness, this grief for which there is no balm. We angels are constants, not made to grow and thus we cannot heal." has been on my mind a lot. It's devastating, it's horrible, i can glimpse at the inhumane grief and emptiness the angels experiences, it hits the nail on the head like a bolt of lightning! How you do you write like this? Do you have any favourite one-liners from Golden Hour? Love the comic, i think about it every day :)

Thank you! That particular passage is one of the most important to understanding the overall thesis of Golden Hour, and really highlights the motivations and limitations of many (if not all) characters, so I’m glad to hear it stuck out to you!

As far as how/why I write this way— I’m not really sure! I grew up with a family that spoke in a lot of metaphorical language because it’s sometimes easier to convey a message through it rather than direct example. Additionally, I enjoy reading a lot of classic lit, which is very helpful for getting in the rhythm of it.

That being said, I’m very grateful that GH is a story that allows me to write that way, as all the characters have a kind of mystical quality to them that permits a suspension of disbelief for their dialogue. I don’t think I could really write that way if it was a slice of life about high schoolers or something haha

I’ve been trying to think if I have a favorite passage, and I think the one you selected is definitely up there! To be honest though, I couldn’t really come up with one as my favorite, and have probably forgotten a lot of what I’ve written. As I’ve said though, the one you singled out is very important, so it had been thought about for a very long time before it was formed into the best sentence I could think of to convey their state of being.

Yippee!!!!! I love yapping about my guys!!!!

Patrick's main hobby is painting, and he's gotten pretty good at art in his free time. He mostly likes to paint landscapes, like big starry skies. I think of his art style as being sorta van Gogh inspired. Same colours aesthetic lol. The only thing jack really draws is oddly detailed and intricate mechanisms in his free time. They are basically blue prints for cool shit he wants to make. Sean and Tom only really write.

If the horsemen owned Tumblr blogs Patrick would probably not post very much, the type to hop on and reblog a few things then hop off. Jack would probably do one of those gimmick blogs that just add things onto posts. Sean would be one of those aesthetic blogs and post things like quotes and poems. I don't know if Tom would have a blog though.

I can't actually imagine any of them watching cartoons tho lol.

No not usually. Youre right about that. That was an exception. He was really focusing on pushing back the glitching then and was just kinda saying what he thought they wanted to hear to make them shut up lmao. Id say i was intending it to like,, be a held back 4? I think (Ifykyk if you dont you dont) And those can be gnarly so he wasn’t really thinking straight. & AHHH!!! TY!! Glad you noticed!!! Glitches/glitch attacks (?) usually travel up like shivers and escalate as they climb up :evil: >:-)
