brant's mother and father falling further into their guilt, wondering how they missed something so important. they missed everything, and people died for it. why didnt he just tell them? maybe they could have helped. maybe they could have saved him...

elwin's parents as he calls home and tells them of this talented, brave girl he just can't stop bringing back to life, and they worry about how much of a toll it takes on him to see so much violence, to lose these children over and over

grady's parents when the council put the ability restrictor on sophie, and they're suddenly taken back to a hundred years ago, watching their son manifest and being told, "he's too powerful."

Elf social conventions around aging are crazy bc on the one hand Della and Alden got engaged when they had a couple centuries under their belt meanwhile Juline and Jolie each got engaged basically straight out of highschool. Like Edaline and Juline have probably known Kesler for longer than they've known Grady by decades or even centuries.

The Reuwens and Vackers each had kids that grew up and moved out, which happened decades apart from one another, and yet none of them are in their elf-forties yet.

If you don't apply your baby to elf law school before they turn eleven they will spend the next several millenia without any chance of a noble title.

alternatively: grady sees a lot of brant in keefe and he sees the way his mom is treating keefe the way fintan treated brant, and he wants to keep keefe from going down that path

Oh my god what if Grady subconsciously, partly places a bit of blame for Jolie’s death onto Keefe because Gisela is the leader of the Neverseen and they’re who killed Jolie oh my god

Edaline insisting Sophie invite him over as often as possible without rousing Sophie’s suspicions

giving Keefe extra pieces of mallowmelt without him asking

finding ways to slip baked treats into his pockets or knapsack when he leaves

telling him he can stay the night whenever he wants

he has a standing invitation to use Jolie’s old bedroom now that Edaline’s cleaned it out

Edaline hearing when he can’t sleep and offering any help she can

offering Keefe the same advice she offers Sophie

realizing that Sophie being with Fitz is highly painful for Keefe

and understanding what he’s going through and encouraging him in whatever small way she can

telling Keefe how proud she is of him (remember she’s the one who reminds Grady in Lodestar that Keefe was doing the exact same thing Jolie did)

and the coup de gras.....Edaline slipping a Ruewen crest pin into Keefe’s things without him realizing

when Keefe finds it, he asks them all if someone lost their crest pin, and they all say no

And Edaline is like “why don’t you take it? We know you don’t love your Sencen one” and there’s this twinkle in her eyes

she’s beaming when he shows up the next day wearing it

WHY WOULD YOU PUT THIS INTO MY HEAD IT HURTS

You know what I want in Legacy? I want more Gradaline. I want domestic Gradaline, dinosaur-wrangling Gradaline, partners in battle Gradaline. I want more page time dedicated to the canon ships because it would be s o f t and such a nice break from the love dodecahedron among the kids
