Thoughts on Cursed Child becoming a movie
A very random late night rant, but here we go. I’ve seen a lot of fake trailers circle around the web and on social media in regards to a potential HPCC movie. And whilst that’s all fun and games, I also want to talk about the actual consequences a movie like that would have on both the fandom and people.
First off I need people to understand that HPCC is an (almost) separate entity of the Wizarding World franchise, being mostly excluded or regarded as “non canon” by the mainstream. However this does NOT mean JKR doesn’t receive royalties from the play, she still earns money from it. The ethics of spending money on the play is also something to be discussed, however I want to specifically talk about the consequences that a potential movie would have on the HPCC story and the representation within it.
First of, HPCC although it has controversies, is in my opinion the best installation in the Harry Potter universe when it comes to representation. What do I mean by that? Since HPCC is a theatre play, it follows general casting rules which in most cases is colour blind. This is implemented in most theatre productions where ethnicity of actors do not matter, HPCC is not an exception. This means that a lot of POC actors get opportunities to be on stage and portray these characters, not to mention the deliberate casting of Hermione Granger. (Although I will note that this casting has caused a lot of stir, in addition to the fact most of the productions have yet to cast a POC lead in the role of Albus, not counting Tokyo or Brazil).
Although only speculation on my part, I can’t imagine a HPCC movie would be able to deliver on the representation shown in the play, with the numerous casts that have been. I also would assumed they’d return to the white casting of Rose and Hermione, which obviously would erase the theatre play castings purpose.
Then onto my second point; being queer representation. Although it’s not confirmed 100%, and also wouldn’t be able to be confirmed as long as JKR has her dirty grubby hands on the IP, Scorbus is as close to canon as possible. This became evident after the script rewrite, a rewrite that was deliberately written by the current queer actors of the play. It was also written as a retaliation agains JKRs bigoted statements which she had began to spread at that time. So as of now, the play leaves the relationship between Albus and Scorpius ambiguous, yet it is very obvious there is a romantic undertone. This is the closest to any LGBTQ rep in the Harry Potter Universe, (no I will not count Dumbledore and Grindewald) and it means so much to people. A movie by Warner Bros and directed by JKR would most certainly remove all aspects of this, and return to the original script with the very forced addition of Scorpius x Rose. (Nothing against the ship, but I’m against the way it was used as a last minute ploy to remove any assumed gayness).
A subsection to this topic I want to touch upon is also queer representation within the casting. It’s not uncommon for theatre to feature a diverse cast both in ethnicity and orientations. HPCC again is no exception. Over the shows 8 year long run, there has been countless of queer and trans actors who have played in it. There have been gay and trans leads in the roles of Albus and Scorpius as well as the ensemble, and this representation is crucial. Especially since this is an IP within JKRs hands, casting people of said groups is such a powerful move. I can almost guarantee a movie would NOT be as inclusive.
And lastly, if there is a movie, should you support it? It’s not my place to say, and I will also acknowledge I am hypocritical when it comes to what I chose to consume and spend money on in regards to the Harry Potter franchise. However I also want to acknowledge that when you are supporting the theatre play, you do give money to JKR, but you also give money to the numerous queer and POC actors in the cast, a lot of whom are activist. I personally will stay away from any HPCC content that erases any of the current representation added. Unless the movie follows the new script, with POC and queer actors, as well as minimal influence for JKR, I WILL NOT support it. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
Also, feel free to correct me if I stated something incorrect or false in this rant!

Let’s talk about Voldemort
I have seen a number of people confused about Voldemort’s rise to power. Originally, he was a politician, not a religious/cult leader. He used the political ideological beliefs of pureblood families to gain power, financial support, and influence for himself. He campaigned for full isolation from the muggle world because that was what prominent pureblood families wanted.
Voldemort manipulated purebloods for his own benefit. His primary motivations were gaining power and prestige for himself. Pureblood supremacy was not his goal, it was his weapon.
Which is why Voldemort valued unquestioning loyalty, not dedication to the cause. He was a narcissistic psychopath. Even as a child, Voldemort manipulated teachers with both charisma and veiled threats to get what he wanted.
Voldemort used his claim as a direct descendant of Slytherin to justify his leadership role (as did Dolores Umbridge) and Grindewald’s “For the Greater Good” campaign was his model to lure in followers. The public messaging wasn’t “destroy muggles and the muggle-borns.” It was a political movement focused on implementing pureblood supremacist ideals in The Ministry, as is evidenced by their successful infiltration during the First Wizarding War and full takeover of The Ministry in the Second.
In the First War, Voldemort was more subtle. He began by influencing powerful families so that loyalists like Lucius Malfoy would advocate for his cause. This is why the Death Eaters wore masks to hide their identities and why the dark mark was not widely known about early on. Their destruction was done in secret and minimized by their influence over the press (Rita Skeeter defended Barty Crouch Jr’s innocence). Only those who had connections to muggle-born families or who worked for The Ministry/The Order understood the true scope of death and destruction.

Hey guys! Do you have any suggestions for AU docs where Grindelwald wins and there is a sort of dystopian magical society? Thank you <3
I can think of a few already, but I think I may a list. Sorry, I like scavenger hunts. Thanks for feeding me.
We also have had a couple asks previously for just Dystopian AUs, and you may look over our Hermione: Slave tag for more fics, though Voldemort may have been the winner in some of those. -JD
Post 'Grindelwald Won' Magical AUs:
To the Victors by FreyaFallen M | WIP | 92k Grindewald fell in 1950: the five years in which he still held sway changed the course of history. Wizarding Britain, terrified at threats to the Statute of Secrecy, decided in the late 50s to pass the Muggleborn Wizarding Appropriation Act, which took muggleborn children from their parents at the first incidence of accidental magic. Children could be fostered or adopted by wizarding families, or would live in Wizarding Institutional Houses. Some Pureblood families took things a step further and decided to foster children in case they only had one heir to act as a sibling, companion, and stand-in for punishments deemed too harsh for their own children. If the muggleborn did well, they reasoned, it meant they had earned their place in the wizarding world. Hermione Granger is such a child, chosen at a young age to be Draco Malfoy's companion. She's an ideal muggleborn: polite, intelligent, and capable. It's not until she attends Hogwarts that someone sees her potential. She becomes the favorite of a certain professor, who sees her power for what it is. Meanwhile, Lucius Malfoy is embroiled in Wizarding politics, influenced by his sister-in-law's mad manipulations.
Bound by Sharkdiver1980 E/Ma | Complete | 59k After a freak accident occurs while attempting to destroy one of Voldemort’s horcruxes that sends Hermione back in time to the year 1947, she finds herself forcefully subjected to a new law put in place by the ministry to counteract the damage to the wizarding population done by Grindelwald. It was no wonder she had never heard of Proclamation no.1682, otherwise known as “The Marriage Law”, since it had obviously been repealed almost as quickly as it was instated. The problem was, she had already been assigned a husband. HG/TMR
A Time of Zombies by crochetaway M | One Shot | 4k Grindelwald’s death set off a massive curse across Britain. Every recently dead wizard has become decidedly undead. The world collapses and only a handful of survivors remain. Tom Riddle, Grindelwald’s lieutenant is one of them. As is Hermione Granger, Dumbledore ’s lieutenant. When they meet, sparks fly. Almost literally.
Please, Save Me by Winterblume M | Complete | 316k AU Tomione. No time travel no time turners. - 'Are you not scared of him? Tom Riddle has got a rather peculiar reputation. But I'm sure it's all stupid talk. He's Head Boy after all.' - 'What kind of a reputation' - 'Er… he's… well, he seems kinda dark.'
we'll sing in the sunshine by flosculous M | WIP | 10k Dystopia AU.

omg whooops i unfollowed you by accident 😭
but anyways do you have any snippets of a fic you're writing? they sound super interesting 👀
Hi! Don't worry, it happens and I didn't notice , I don't even know who is following me 😅
Maybe I'll post something? But I don't know what, because my Alphard fanfic is a big work exploring the Black family, the Malfoys, the Lestranges, the Rosiers, etc, Grindewald's politics and the war, and how the orphan Tom was able to gain followers among these pureblood children. I wrote this fanfic to get my own take on what things might have looked like, but I wanted to make things more realistic and 'adult'.
And my Sirius Black fanfic ... I'm constantly editing it. So I better get it at least 70% finished first.
And thank you, dear <3

Lay Waste the Sky
Lay Waste the Sky https://ift.tt/9sDplRr by FreyaFallen Dumbledore didn’t challenge Grindewald; Grindewald finally challenged him in 1955 and he had already started exercising his influence over Wizarding Britain by that time. As a consequence, the Wizarding world readers know is far different. Muggleborns are taken from their parents at their first accidental magic and placed into Homes. Wizarding families can choose to take them in as wards, but what happens to them? What happens to those who stay at the Homes? Hermione has lived in the asylum since she was four. She’s starting Hogwarts and about to attract the attention of one of the most powerful pureblood scions in attendance. Words: 4040, Chapters: 1/?, Language: English Fandoms: Harry Potter - J. K. I wanted to yap in tags but forced to yap in the reblog body. I'm no historian or scholar; just observing things.
Witch trials were a very convenient occurrence for obtaining property and material goods as the reporters could receive a percentage of the things confiscated from the suspect, too.
A terrible way to lose a beloved enchanted bidet, isn't it. Fear of losing such a useful appliance likely wasn't the reason the Statute came to power, though.
My poke-the-sky guess: trade regulations (=easier to control any step in the way), centralisation of the wizarding government in London despite all odds (=easier to forge a false accusation of shoving muggles with magic), and potentially, a some kind of fear fueling the isolationist sentiment behind the Statute (=muggles are too many, we are too little, we need to brace yourselves). A some kind of superiority complex is very counterintuitive in this case; if they were so capable and powerful as to have something to put up against the muggles, how come there wasn't a Grindewald to overthrow muggle governments and change the course of history at least once?
Who did always stop the supremacist?
Superiority complex, that boastfulness and the Sacred 28, must be a very recent development. It has not always been like this.
Anyway.
The Statute, essentially, establishes control over the wizarding population. Why, is a very good question. Were they afraid of guns? or wars? or they feared muggles will come to demolish their houses to extend borders of the cities and towns? or the growth of muggle population and their migration was the reason for that fear—if there was any fear, but it is reasonable to ponder, because wizards wanted to be under the protection of the Muggle Law.
What was the sentiment—the main idea behind going underground? It isn't a small decision. It was accepted. They came to the King and Queen to avoid it. It should be, no, must be simple as a stick, and it is unlikely to be wholly related to witch-hinting alone.
Simple things are usually the hardest to deduce.
The Statute of Secrecy—and it's the International law (we were never specified which countries constitute internationality, by the way)—comes into effect when witch trials are in decline despite Salem being one of the most gruesome (the last witch hunt occurred in England was in 1712), in 1692. Scotland, for one, was quite a blood-dyed place in the 1500s.
So why not a century earlier? In consideration of Hogwarts being in Scotland, therefore, super close to many potential murder scenes of wandering Hogwarts students, it seems reasonable to hide this early.
It's a very suspicious timing, to say the least. Coincides with Salem too well. Even comes into effect the same year it happens.
The Statute is first signed in 1689. The Glorious Revolution is over at this point. Act of Toleration 1689 must had been passed by that time, as well, so the initial negotiation with the King and Queen occurred after May 24, 1689.
The Act granted nonconforming Protestants religious freedoms, but not to the Roman Catholics. Could wizards try to squeeze in with the Protestants—were they a Protestant majority themselves? or were they trying to advocate for Catholics—being Catholics themselves? or were they representing themselves as Just Themselves and argued their bidets should be left alone?
Were they even going to negotiate anything because of the Act and not because the King and Queen were the new monarchs?
What was really their reasoning? Why that year? Why did they have to ask the kingdom for protection under the Muggle Law—what Law, specifically, by the way? And protect from whom…
Wizards are indistinguishable from muggles. They could blend in easily and enjoy that protection all they liked whenever they wished. Did they want recognition—like a legal status of sorts? But they are already, uh. Humans. Subjects to the Muggle Law by being born a homo sapience on a certain part of geography. No???
Were they trying to advocate for freedoms for the rest of the magical world—within the British Isles, at least?
It leaves to suggest that the wizards wanted to be able to perform magic in public or freely. The Statute limits the use of magic quite severely, as well as prohibits demonstrations and forces wizards to hide everything magical, whilst not prohibiting the wizards to live with muggles if they so desire. They will have to give up magic, though—but magic is Hotel California: you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
Like????????????????????????
A short TLDR;-conclusion— hang on I might have got it:
Witch hunts look like a convenient cover up story for a some kind of royal political fuck up, given that they enacted the Statute the same year Salem happens. Potentially, the inability to prevent war otherwise—wizards can blend in with muggles, but other magical races rarely can. They could have been all killed or persecuted, it were them the King and Queen refused to let under the protection of the Law, and that prospect could've caused a war between all other magical races vs muggles and wizards. Why? The Ministry of Magic Decree of 1631. They prohibited every other race to carry wands. They left them unarmed and open to attacks from guns and pitchforks; not that, let's say, goblins can't use magic without a wand, but a wand amplifies magical output or at least, concentrates it. Better with a wand than without it. Perhaps, it was fear after all. It is a royally massive fuck up. No. It's comedy at this point. But it is all my guess, of course.
misconceptions about real world history and how they affect interpretations of wizarding world history
misconception of magic and witchcraft in western europe pre-modern era
application in HP world building a: inconsistencies in the text b: what this means for magical history (feat: Ur-Fascism by Umberto Eco)
1: misconceptions of magic and witchcraft in western europe
there's a huge cultural misunderstanding of how western europe thought about "magic" and "witchcraft" pre-modern era, including the function of the witch trials. laws against magic were specific, and usually involved the practicer causing certain harm or worshipping pagan gods.
folk magic was practiced across cultures and across the centuries by the lower classes. ritualized chanting, amulets, prayers to saints, rituals of protection (sometimes from witchcraft), and medicine all contained elements of knowledge beyond the observable.
most people would have considered something condemnable and witchcraft if the power came from the Devil. other practices that we lump into that specific version of witchcraft would have been miracles, or cunning, or maybe a prayer answered.
it went against church doctrine to believe magic existed in any form for much of this time, but we know that doesn't mean it wasn't still part of the cultures.
the witch trials, which peaked in the early modern era, were simply targeting women. there was a rise in unmarried women, women were marrying older, and nunneries were being shut down due to the protestant reformation. i've spoken before about how the conception of what a woman is was changing rapidly in the early modern era.
2: application in HP worldbuilding
a: inconsistencies in the text
this is why i get irritated when i see people take the persecution of magical folk as presented in HP text at face value. there is no historical basis for this until the early modern witch trials, which is stated in the text to not have a big impact on magical folk's safety.
to quote a history of magic:
"Non-magic people (more commonly known as Muggles) were particularly afraid of magic in medieval times, but not very good at recognising it. On the rare occasion that they did catch a real witch or wizard, burning had no effect whatsoever. The witch or wizard would perform a basic Flame-Freezing Charm and then pretend to shriek with pain while enjoying a gentle, tickling sensation. Indeed, Wendelin the Weird enjoyed being burned so much that she allowed herself to be caught no less than forty-seven times in various disguises."
so, which is it? Muggle suddenly turned on magical folk and scared them into hiding with their persecution, or they were no real threat. we know jkr just needed a reason for the magical world to be secret, but for those of us who choose to take this way too seriously, this is an inconsistency.
b: what this means for magical history
an inconsistency that reminds me of two components of fascism as described by Umberto Eco. one is "obsession with a plot", an obsessive fear that some outside enemy is trying to harm your group, and two, the creation of enemies who were "at the same time too strong and too weak".
not to say the WW is fascist. i think this comparison makes it clear that the mythology around magical history is a way to maintain power and control over the population. the mythology creates a justification for the SoS and later the development of pureblood supremacy, which i view as a form of nationalism.
i don't think we really know what happened to cause the SoS. i suspect it was due to the witch trials, sure, but also because of the same anxieties and upheavals that caused the witch trials. like all things, it was fucking complicated.
we have pureblood propaganda in the supplementary text in the form of the sacred 28. this was published anonymously in the 1930s. no sources. meaningless. who was included and who was excluded was arbitrary. i don't think it's a stretch to say there is more historical myth-making going on in the text. we'll never know bc jkr hates history and is horrible at writing it!
overall, headcanon what you want, world build what you want, but it is useful to identify authoritarian and propagandist elements in the text you're analyzing. people seem to fall for the WW in-universe propaganda often, in pursuit of making blood supremacists more sympathetic. i'd rather we not.

Harry goes back in time to kill Tom Riddle. And he does it, he succeeds. When Tom enters the chamber of secrets for the first time he is met with an already awoken basilisk and is killed instantly. The chamber stays closed and Myrtle lives.
However, the tradeoff was that he wouldn’t be able to then return to the future. So he has to actually live in this time after succeeding in his task. Which also happens to be during the middle of a war.
Well it’s not like he’s unused to being in wartime. This time he isn’t even expected to end it. And he will finally just take a break because he knows everything will work out fine for once without his involvement.
Maybe he begins his seventh year as a transfer student, since finding a job would be a lot easier with proof that you went to and graduated from a school. And because it’s the easiest way to get into the school without being caught.
Tom's former friends are a bit off put when their leader just up and disappeared. There are plenty of people that would like to see him gone, he's kind of running slytherin. But he just disappeared, in the middle of a school year, without a warning.
And it's not that they suspect Harry, not at first. He's just another transfer student, something they get occasionally of due to the war. He's a seventh year and barely interacted with any of them and for a slytherin he is distinctly uninterested in house politics. He's a bit odd sure, but that's nothing that can't be explained that he was home schooled and just lost his parents to the war.
They're just running out of leads, and even the teachers aren't finding anything. Maybe it is something Tom did himself but it's still just suspicious. If he ran away he would've taken stuff with him, if it was an experiment one wrong they would've at least found a body.
Or maybe Harry comes back as an adult and has to deal with having no paperwork, no money, in wartime. Maybe he applies to Hogwarts. Maybe he starts his own shop. Maybe he gets employed by one of the shadier stores that can overlook his lack of anything.
Oh and bonuspoints if Grindewald finds that his wand suddenly doesn't like him anymore and is very curious of why that is.

Unexpected Visitors
Newt Scamander x Daughter!reader
When two strangers show up at you and your father's home, the night turns very eventful
Word Count: 1,319
A/N: This takes place in that one scene in Crimes of Grindewald and reader is about 15/16
You had been downstairs finishing up some of your chores with your father’s creatures when you heard the crash from upstairs. You knew he was home so you decided to let Newt deal with the problem upstairs. You figured it was just one of the Nifflers causing problems. You went back to finish feeding the Diricawls when Bunty stopped by.
“Your father asked for me to send you up to him when you’re finished here,” she said.
“Okay thanks,” you said, looking up from your work and smiling at her.
She nodded at you and waved goodbye, you returning the favor. You quickly finished up and then headed upstairs into the house.
You heard voices and some giggle that didn’t belong to your father. As you reached the living room, you saw your dad talking to two other people.
“Father?” you asked, hoping he could answer some questions about the strangers in your house.
Newt turned around after hearing your voice to look at you, “Oh Y/n,” he said, pulling you to stand next to him. He faced back to the others in the room, “Uh Y/n this is Queenie and Jacob. I met them in New York.
You looked at them and gave them a small wave.
“Oh this is the famous Y/n yo told us about,” the woman, Queenie said, “It’s very nice to finally meet you,” she smiled brightly at you.
“You too,” you mumbled. Like Newt, you were an awkward person, especially around people. You smiled at her again and then looked at Jacob, who did not seem to be acting very normal, “Is he alright?” you asked.
“Oh yes he’s fine,” Queenie responded, helping Jacob stand up straighter. She then turned to your father, “Shall we have dinner?”
~~~~~
You and your father were now sitting across from Jacob and Queenie. You could hardly eat because you were so focused on what Jacob was doing. He could barely eat and Queenie had to do almost everything for him. You could tell your father was trying hard not to notice either but it wasn’t working.
“Tina and I aren’t talking to each other,” Queenie explained.
“Why?” your father asked her, watching her tuck a napkin into Jacob’s shirt and sit in her own seat.
“She found out about Jacob and I,” she said, “And you know the laws. Not allowed to date or marry No-Majis.”
“I always thought that was ridiculous,” you said. It was the first thing you had contributed to the conversation tonight.
“Y/n ,” your father said softly. While he agreed with you, he didn’t need you chastising the person who was giving him the details he wanted on Tina.
“Sorry,” you mumbled, going back to eating your dinner.
“And anyways,” she continued, “She was all in a tizzy because of you.”
“Me?” your father asked, shocked.
“Yes you!” she exclaimed, “It was in Spellbound Newt.”
He looked over at you, confused and hoping you would have an answer for him but you were just as confused as him. You looked over at Queenie and gave her a confused look.
“I brought it for you to see,” she said, using her wand to pull the magazine out of nowhere and flip to a page with your father, your uncle Theseus, and Leta.
“Newt Scamander and fiance Leta Lestrange and brother Theseus with an unknown woman.”
“No that’s wrong,” Newt said quickly, “Theseus is marrying Leta.”
You had to suppress your giggles at the scene unfolding in front of you.
Queenie smiled at the realization that her sister’s crush wasn’t engaged, “Oh.”
It took her another second to realize that it wasn’t necessarily a good thing, “Oh dear.”
“What?” your father asked again.
“Well see, Tina read that and so she started dating someone else,” Queenie said quietly, “He’s an auror. His name is Achilles Tolliver.”
“I’ve heard of Tolliver,” you said, “He was mentioned in one of my classes at Hogwarts.”
Jacob started laughing and wheezing, causing you all to look over at him, “Tolliver?” he asked, in between laughs. He was wheezing so hard, you thought he might stop breathing.
“Are you sure he’s alright?” you asked, repeating your question from earlier.
“Of course he is sweetie,” Queenie said to you, wrapping her arm around Jacob who was already starting to calm down, “Anyways, we’re real excited to be here. It’s a special trip for us.”
She began to pour herself and Jacob a glass of wine, “You see, Jacob and I are getting married!” she exclaimed while giggling.
You looked over to your father, who seemed as surprised as ever by the news. You watched him look over to Jacob as he began to raise his glass.
“I’m marrying Jacob!” he said loudly, throwing the liquid on himself, making you gasp lightly and jump in your seat. Queenie then pulled out her wand, shooting confetti from the end.
Newt looked over to Queenie as she pulled the napkin from Jacob’s shirt and began to dry him off, “What? I have not,” she said.
“Will you stop reading my mind?” your father asked out loud.
You looked at the woman sitting next to you, “You’re a legilimens?” you asked. She nodded while continuing to read your father’s mind.
“That is an outrageous accusation,” she said, wiping off Jacob’s face more, “Look at him. He’s just happy.”
“So then you wouldn’t mind if I,” Your father started, standing up from the table and pulling out his wand, Queenie matching his actions.
“Please don’t,” she said, moving her arm in front of Jacob, who grabbed on to it.
“You’ve got nothing to fear if he wants to marry you,” Newt explained gently, “We can just lift the enchantment and he can tell us himself,” he continued, raising his want up to the other man.
Queenie slowly pulled her arm away from Jacob and he continued to look at her. She backed away from him, causing the man to look at you and your father’s directions. You hadn’t moved from your seat at the table but your father was ready to remove the enchantment Queenie put on him.
“Whatcha doing with that?” Jacob asked, chuckling, “Whatcha doing with that Mr. Scamander.”
Newt flicked his wand, “Surgito,” he said.
Jacob shook as the love enchantment was removed and he was back to normal. He took a deep breath before looking around the room.
“Congratulations on your engagement Jacob,” your father said.
“Wait what?” Jacob asked, clearly not knowing he was engaged. He looked at your father confused before he noticed he was looking up at Queenie, “Oh no,” he said.
You looked to the woman who was already packing up her stuff and heading for the door, too upset to stay and listen to Jacob begging her to. She grabbed her jacket and left the house, letting the door slam shut.
Jacob went after her but stopped and turned to your father, “It was nice seeing you,” he said to Newt. He glanced over at you, not realizing you were there before now, “And it was nice to meet you kid.”
You gave him an awkward smile.
“Also, where am I?” he asked.
“London,” you answered.
“Oh!” Jacob exclaimed, “I always wanted to go here!” he yelled as he left the house, following Queenie.
Once the door was shut, you looked over to your father, “So those are the friends you met in New York?”
He looked over to you, “Yes although, they weren’t that out of sorts when I met them.”
“Interesting,” you replied. You stood up from the table and pushed your chair in, “This has been a very eventful evening so I should be going to bed.”
Before Newt could respond, you were already running upstairs and to your room. He heard your door open and close shut. He sighed and plopped back down in his chair, shaking his head.
do you think you could write anything…. tom riddle inspired😏
Hi anon! I can certainly try! Thanks for requesting this, here you go! (P.S. sorry that this took so long to write and that it’s short!)
Y/N sat on one of the leather couches that adorned the Slytherin common room. She scribbled away with her quill, eager to get her transfiguration homework done as soon as possible. Y/N turned her head when she heard the sound of footsteps. She smiled when she recognized who it was.
“Hello, Tom,” Y/N said cheerfully.
Tom Riddle smiled back. He sat down next to Y/N and pulled out a roll of parchment.
“I was hoping you could help me with something, Y/N,” Tom said.
“Sure, what is it?”
Tom wrote his full name down on the parchment. Y/N leaned over to watch.
Tom Marvolo Riddle
“You know I intend to become a first-rate wizard someday,” Tom said, “but I feel as though this name doesn’t suit me anymore. I was hoping you might help me rearrange it into something better.”
“A word game, I like the sound of that!” Y/N grabbed the parchment and circled some letters, “let’s see what we can do.”
Hours passed as Y/N and Tom experimented with his name. The sound of quills scratching on parchment echoed throughout the common room as Y/N and Tom wrote down names and then crossed them off, never satisfied with their findings.
“What about ‘Lord Marvel’?” Y/N asked.
“It doesn’t have the right ring to it,” Tom said, “what about ‘Time Lord’?”
“But you don’t have a time-turner,” Y/N pointed out, “and unless you plan on becoming the world’s greatest time-traveler, I don’t think it’ll fit.”
“I like ‘Lord’ though, let’s try working with that,” Tom said.
After a few more minutes, Y/N’s eyes lit up with an idea. She quickly scribbled something down and showed it to Tom.
“I am Lord Voldemort?” Tom asked.
“Yes,” Y/N said, “it has a nice sound, don’t you think?”
Tom’s lips stretched into a grin.
“it’s perfect, I think I’ll use it,” Tom said, “well done, Y/N.”
Tom grabbed his things and stood up. He waved to Y/N as he left. Y/N happily waved back and resumed her transfiguration homework. Little did she know she had just come up with the name of the darkest wizard the world had ever seen since Gellert Grindewald.
