MXTX RUS Edition GO Interest check

Hello! I have been thinking about hosting a GO for the Russian edition of MXTX's work. It would primarily be a US GO but Canada and Mexico are welcome to join as well as other countries if they are willing to pay the probably expensive shipping. This would be my first time managing a GO and I never have shipped things outside of the US before.

But before that, I want to gauge how many are interested first and I want at least 20-50 participants.

I obtained my copy of the Russian edition of SVSSS from Ruslania so I will be making a bulk order from there. For the sold-out books, I will do my best to ask Ruslania if it is possible to order them.

So I joined a local bjd chat group/server, and have been chatting with someone in the group, mostly about several group orders I've hosted and they joined. They are well-known in the server and I'm sure they're friends with the server creator/admin and the other members - and I think I may have just joined a clique I never really wanted to be a part of in the first place (clique like, personal, very close group of friends). I just want to chat about dolls, and look for people to join my group orders to save on shipping. I don't want "close" hobby friends if they will keep spamming me messages and hounding me to tell me it's gonna be their birthday in two weeks and do I have a gift ready, and it better be nice. 😬 I wouldn't have minded this ask a week ago actually since I did consider them a friend already, except they had a birthday party last week that some of us in the group were not invited to. And now they've been sending me messages nonstop to ask what my gift is?! When they told me too that I was not invited since I'm new to the group and they don't know me well enough?! The audacity, right? 🤣 I've only known this person for half a year and the only things I know about this person are their doll sizes, PO box and shipping-related details since I need to ship stuff to them. Good thing our last group order has shipped and I'm just waiting for it to arrive, after that I'm leaving this server.

No but fr having an indigenous family broken up for its own good by the state and one of them leave her homeland to go get a Real Education is not just counter to the original story's characterization, it's not just erasing the colonialism commentary for the sake of failed feminism presumably based on the girlboss objection to portraying women as caretakers and the classist objection to blue collar jobs, it is an act of colonialism.

It is in fact so ridiculously an act of colonialism that it should come off as such to anybody able to think about media critically for a few moments, but to anybody familiar with what the US did to many indigenous peoples via the faux benevolence of boarding schools, including to native hawaiians, it's fucking revolting.

Like, shoutout to removing Pleakley's gender exploration, to removing the cop villain in lieu of just having the mad scientist remain one, to removing some of Cobra Bubbles's nuance, to removing commentary on race and colonialism, etc etc, but mainly: this did a colonialism.

Decided to start chipping away at coloring my sketches of the Life Series folks as D&D characters (original idea courtesy of @theglitternet)

First round: the BAMboozlers!

Thought processes for the designs below the cut:

Jimmy was assigned Circle of Land (Grassland) Druid, and I leaned into the canary idea for his wings. Not sure what race he’d be to have wings; maybe Aasimar or something else? Gave him a shepherd’s crook-like staff because Ranchers. I also added some orange hints, since I like the idea that seems to be gaining some traction of associating Jimmy with phoenixes now that he’s broken the Canary Curse. Maybe he’ll gain a dip into Life Domain Cleric? Or maybe some sort of Phoenix sorcerer?

Lizzie was assigned Trickery Domain Cleric, and her design is pretty close to her default skin. Gave her a corset waist belt thing for the extra fantasy hint though. She’s almost guaranteed to be some sort of fae—maybe spring Eladrin?

Scar was assigned Assassin Rogue/Gloom Stalker Ranger for his bow skills, and I liked his Secret Life outfit the most of his various skins; felt the most Ranger-y. Added some extra patches to his pants, figuring he’d probably patch his clothes himself. I also thought he’d probably be a half-elf.

Y'know, I think I figured out why the Hells still feel like a new low-level party to me, even though they're level 13 and almost 100 episodes in.

I don't quite think it's the lack of conversations, or the fact half the party's plot hooks are big ties to past campaigns - though that definitely plays a part.

... Bell's Hells still primarily rely on quest givers.

Most of their goals are given to them and do not feel organic to the party, and constantly remind us that the Hells are pretty much never the most powerful people in the room. Which is usually something you see with a low-level party.

NPCs offering jobs is not a bad thing; it's a very common plot hook. Matt has been extremely skilled with using NPC quest givers in those two campaigns. Not only do they provide an obvious plot thread, but they can put the party in the path of others (say, the Nein running into the Iron Shepherds while doing a job for the Gentleman and everything that came of that). And the Hells had a solid start with it too - Eshteross was an excellent quest giver!

The problem is that Bell's Hells have never really not had a quest giver.

Maybe it's a byproduct of the more plot-heavy structure of this campaign? But while prior parties have felt like they decided on their course of action and what they prioritized, Bell's Hells feels less like level 13 (13! Level 13!) experienced adventurers and more like an MMO group clicking on the exclamation point over an NPC's head. Where does the plot demand we go next? Who do we report back to?

They're level 13.

At level 13, Vox Machina had just defeated a necromantic city-state to clear their name and Percy's conscience. And, you know, the Conclave just destroyed Emon. No one was explicitly telling the group to gather Vestiges and save the world (though Matt guided them there), and they were usually among the most powerful people in the room. They chose which Vestiges to prioritize, which dragons to tackle when, even if the over-all plot was pretty clear.

At level 13, the Mighty Nein were celebrating Traveler Con (another PC goal, I'll note) after brokering peace between two nations, accidentally becoming pirates and heroes of the Dynasty. The Nein regularly chose what to do based on personal goals, not grand ones. Though definitely smaller fish than Vox Machina at this level, they were very independent and gaining solid political clout.

While we're at it: level 13 is one level lower than the Ring of Brass, who had a huge amount of sway over Avalir. They ended the world, and also saved it, while in the grand scheme of things being only a smidge more powerful than Bell's Hells are now.

Can you really see the Hells wielding that amount of influence, when they're constantly being told what to do next?

The god-eater might be unleashed, so Bell's Hells have no time to do anything but what is asked of them. No time for therapy unless stolen from Feywild time, no travel on foot and late-night watches. They haven't even had time to grieve FCG. Percy was grieved in the middle of the Conclave arc. Molly was grieved when half the party was still in irons.

Matt is in the very unfortunate spot of not being able to give the Hells the same agency as the other two parties. Not only because of the world-ending plot introduced so early on; they are surrounded by characters they know (and the cast knows) are stronger and wiser than them - the familiarity of the past PCs and NPCs is to their disadvantage.

Why would the party reasonably ignore Keyleth's task that will help save the world and go off on a romp? Why would the cast when they know well Keyleth has to be sensible and with the best intentions in mind? The stakes are just too high.

It means that the Hells still feel like they're running errands instead of pursuing their own destiny. Their accomplishments are diminished as just being parts of a to-do list, and any stakes feel padded by several level 20 PCs/NPCs standing 5 steps away ready to catch them.

This isn't Bell's Hell's fault, nor is it Matt's. It could be amended, I think, if the Hells are really left to their own devices for a long period of time without support and shortcuts (like during the party split)... which would be really tricky to pull off at this point in the campaign.

They're level 13. They're big fish, but they're stuck in a pond full of friendly sharks, so they don't feel big at all.

I decided to do one of these for an assortment of clangen blogs, including some of my inspirations and some I've seen on this blog (and both!) Details below the cut.

First off, Butterflypaw (@a-song-upon-the-waves-wishclan)! I absolutely love her design -- her orange speckles/freckles are so cute. We love a hater in this house.

Next, Wheatpaw (@ranchclan) who I admittedly chose mostly for her fun pelt! I really enjoy this comic's distinctive style. Wheat and Magpie are such a striking-looking sibling pair, and I'm excited to see them grow up.

Prairiemoon's warrior ceremony (@splinterclan) made me so sad. And now she's gloomy... Prairie, no :( This comic is one of my favorites, and a main reason I started a clangen blog of my own. The story is so good, and the characters are so real-feeling and relatable.

Piperdapple (@sporeclan) is another cat whose design I adore. She's so fluffy! I love how expressive the cats are in this comic, and I'm super excited for Piper's kits. (Still getting over the last update, though :( )

Next, we have Rowanbark (@cutieclangen) who... oh boy. Yet another update I'm still thinking about; I enjoyed seeing pieces from Rowan and Swirldrop's storylines come together. I'm worried about how Rowan's going to react to what just happened.

Finally, Dovenose (@rootclan-files)! The artstyle for this comic is so cute, and I really like Dove's colors (Otterfern was a close second on who to draw).
