"That's the most surprising," Astarion couldn't stop his brows from rising higher. "I expected you to be…more prudent about this. Not that I'm complaining. Obviously."

"So far we've met but a couple of goblins who deserved whatever was coming their way, so don't be too hopeful about your diet." Her playful reprimand was softened by a chuckle, "But I don't expect to plow our way to creche without meeting at least a handful of bandits or other unsavory fellows. And if we're so forced to confront them in battle, there's little difference between them dying under your dagger or under your teeth. The least they can do is to stave your bout of hunger, no?"

"A-ah, ever a rational thinker. If my heart wasn't dead, it might've just skipped a beat."

Astarion leaned to her with a smile on his lips, catching and gauging her reaction. Tav stayed still, arms crossed as she allowed him closer, though she appeared unmoved by such approach. A pity.

"Well then, I don't suppose you would include yourself to the list of the willing participants again this night, would you?" he still asked, a little hopeful. Though not without fussing, Tav once agreed to lend him her blood, and he remembered the taste with fondness.

She rolled her eyes in thought, clearly contemplating the proposition.

"Tomorrow," she decided finally. "I'll ask Shadowheart to prepare a spell to deal with my bloodloss."

Astarion sighed, disappointed, but not surprised—having fun and a full stomach every day was outside of his expectations anyway.

"Fine. I'll stay put for tonight, but be aware, I would spend my every waking moment consumed with thirst and much anticipation," Astarion whispered, close enough for his words to tickle her ear. His smile was practiced, with just enough promise to make her breath stagnate.

As much as Tav loved keeping her calm, the fact that he was affecting her didn't slip past him. His lips quivered, bending into a satisfied grin that Astarion quickly erased.

He knew enough to see how long this little game would take. He didn't mind it, though. As long as he was winning.

Bayonetta?

First impression

I thought it was funny, in a super depressing way, that a character who was specifically and explicitly designed to be hypersexual, was actually less exposed than many characters in mainstream fighting games.

Even in her “nude” form, which you can see when she is low on health, Bayonetta’s breasts and butt are halfway covered. Compare and contrast Cammy, Elena, Mai Shiranui and a ton of others who normally stroll into battle with a thong while the gaming community pretends it’s normal.

Impression now

Bayonetta's character design, as well as her poses, are definitely all about the male gaze. Heck, the developers gave an interview that was basically all about her ass (it's not an exaggeration, the topic of the interview was literally how they used pixels to create the perfect ass).

But... When you play the games, you find that, surprisingly, the story is one of the most blatant examples of feminist ideals you will ever see in fiction. And her characterization follows along surprisingly well.

That's why I actually think Bayonetta can be considered a feminist character. It's not because of her strength or attitude or anything like that. It’s way too easy to disguise harmful attitudes as progressive just by adding physical power, so simply having a female character that “takes no shit” and beats up the bad guys doesn’t necessarily mean anything (Kate Beaton did a fantastic satire of the “strong female character” trope: http://harkavagrant.com/index.php?id=311)

No, it's because of the way female relationships are presented in the game.

Literally the whole point of the games is “women supporting each other.” Bayonetta and her mother, Bayonetta and her sister, Bayonetta and a little girl she cares for: all of those relationships are given huge importance to. They change history, literally change history, simply by letting a little girl watch a woman fight hard without ever giving up, so that the little girl grows up thinking “I should be brave too.” Every single girl and woman Bayonetta meets and forms relationships with enriches her as a person and as a warrior. Whenever they need her, she'll stare God in the face and walk backwards into hell for their sake. And when she is in trouble, they all have her back.

Bayonetta is the embodiment of the song "if my sister is in trouble so am I." I had never seen anything like that in a game (or most other forms of fiction outside of Wonder Woman comics) before.

Favorite moment

When Bayonetta makes a giant mecha with her black hair to fight God in space, but she runs out of hair, so her sister opens a demonic gate to send Bayonetta her white hair, creating a planet-sized silver mecha that punches God into the sun.

Idea for a story

Canon states that, even if a Witch is just and righteous, when she dies she goes to Hell anyway because her powers come from Hell and bind her to it.

I’d like to see a story where Bayonetta goes to rescue her slain sisters’ souls in Hell.

I genuinely like the Bayo/Luka pairing.

In case nobody has told you yet:  You can see Kate Beaton's stuff at harkavagrant.com.  She makes a lot of historical comics; you've more than likely seen some of them floating around.

Not sure what she's doing nowadays, but if I recall correctly she's doing some work with a Canadian television program.
