okay. all that said, this question sent me through so many tabs of googling, but after all that research and my own headcanons and views, here is my answer.

1ST PLACE = marius von hagen

obviously. he's the CEO of one of the most powerful and influential corporations in the country of Stellis. he makes like a gazillion bajillion fuckoff-illion Stellin annually, we dont even have to find a number for him because he's definitely at the top.

did you know canonically, marius never checks the price tag of any of the things he buys? yeah. i think that says enough

2ND PLACE = vyn richter

im not going to do any numbers or math for vyn either because i agree with you that vyn is at second place. vyn technically has the following sources of income

psychologist/psychiatrist

owner/co-founder of Giannovyn Mental Health Research Center

visiting professor at the School of Psychology of Stellis University

being Royalty (but this is...complicated)

being a visiting professor is basically negligible, income-wise. i come from a family of teachers so i know teachers, even at a university level, are paid horrendously. but his practice as a psychiatrist and the income he gets as the owner and co-founder of his research center must be Big Bucks

as for the being Royalty part.....i dont think thats Income, per se, but vyn definitely doesnt need to WORRY about money tbh. worst comes to worst, shitbag dad eirik haspran will throw svartish currency at vyn's face, which vyn will ABSOLUTELY HATE, but that doesnt get rid of the fact that it Is money that he's got access to.

in terms of attitudes and behaviors in regards to spending, his placement of 2nd place seems to align here: vyn lives with many fancy luxuries!! nowhere near as extravagant and out-of-this-world as marius, but it's There: the clear see-through grand piano in his pre-moving-in-together bedroom, the upper class hobbies and interests like wine tasting and horse riding, that kind of stuff. so i think he fits here in 2nd place.

INTERMISSION = i need to take you through my process, methodology, and struggle here (so you understand what i WENT THROUGH)

okay now it was artem and luke that tripped me up the most for this response. my gut instinct when you said artem was last place just made me go "that can't be right...."

i originally tried to solve this conundrum by doing actual math and conversion. my process was:

search the job's annual salary in China (because Stellis is based on Chinese cities in general. this would mean we would be working under Chinese living costs and the Chinese Yuan)

convert those values into Philippine Peso simply so that i can comprehend the numbers

compare who's higher!!

but then that made me realize a big issue with this process.....artem's job is easy, he's a Senior Attorney. but luke....what the FUCK is his actual job title for the NSB??????

in Main Story 05-01, he describes himself as part of the "Financial and Technological Crime Section" of the NSB, and he joins the NXX Investigation Team as a "special investigator" but like....WHATS HIS TITLE. WHATS HIS POSITION. WHATS HIS JOB DESCRIPTION AND WHAT ARE HIS RESPONSIBILITIES???

on NSB missions or during his NSB era, luke has been seen doing undercover work, hacking (idk a more formal term for this), combat training for new recruits, AND THE LIST GOES ON. essentially, searching for his "job" in the first place tripped me up

hence why i landed at this reddit page

it seemed like a lost fucking cause to use actual IRL sources for luke's job so i went into the realm of fictional secret agents, james bond being the most known and, well, luke pearce is basically james bond at this point, what with everything he's had to do already.

HOWEVER, i won't be using the exact numbers that the above reddit thread came up with, because those numbers are based on the living costs and culture of Europe. that fucked up all the numbers ONCE MORE

his living conditions are sleek, elegant, and luxurious. not at the same level as vyn and marius, but it is very swanky. in his pre-moving-in-together apartment, he literally had his own private cinema room. his kitchen had two ovens. these are signs that he makes BANK.

4th PLACE = luke pearce

the income from Time's Antiquities is honestly negligible because 1) its main purpose, canonically, isn't actually to be an establishment but instead a front for his PI business. yes, he does do restorations and make sales, but that's not his priority. and 2) HE DOES SO MUCH SHIT FOR FREE. LUKE, THIS IS NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS!!! KBSLFBLDS

the income from his Pearce Private Investigations is also somewhat negligible because, again, HE ALSO DOES CASES FOR FREEEEEE or at the very least is very flexible about payment

as for being a government agent........the government does Not Pay Its Employees Well

with those matters out of the way, i wanna say that luke making the least among the boys (WHICH DOESNT MEAN HE MAKES LITTLE. he definitely still makes Money, just not as much as the other three) makes sense given his Vibes and Living Conditions

in terms of vibes, luke is a very simple boy. he tends for "low-brow" hobbies and indulgences and food. in terms of living conditions, his pre-moving-in-together living space, which was just one floor of his 3-floor building, was very simple as well, even cramped. his bed was on a palette on the FLOOR. LUKE, FOR GOD'S SAKE, SURELY YOU MAKE ENOUGH TO GET A PROPER BEDFRAME //SHAKES HIM

do u think either viktor or mel are any good at cooking... u mentioned the sims room having spices and while i think viktor and mel understand cooking in theory and Would Add Spices i dont know how much theyve done it in practice... viktor knows chemistry from singed and his own work im sure which is a similar skillset but i cant imagine him ever cooking for himself (before the events of this AU) beyond stock basic low effort meals to get through the week.. and mel i dont think would be comically bad at it necessarily (cuz idk i just think its an overplayed trope and mel is all about how she is actually quite grounded and careful despite her outwardly fancy exterior- thinking abt the sequence of her mixing her own paints with her own hands) but i think she would have even less experience with it in practicality than viktor since its always been something provided for her...

i just am imagining mel buying spices she knows she likes and viktor advocating for filling starches that go a long way and dont go bad quickly and are easy on the stomach (Viktor lost so much weight while ill i cant imagine he was eating that well) and then the two of them both having such different experiences with food- wanting for it, never wanting for it- and both ending up with the same condition of Constantly Forgetting They Should Eat because of it... but both being so empathetic they notice the Other is forgetting to eat. ugh i love narrative foils

that ask got rlly long but btw i think jayce would love to cook (when he has time for it outside of the lab) i think he would be so happy watching his loved ones eat the food he made. some hobbies can be stress relief (i think this is the forge for jayce) and some require some more energy summoned to put into them and i feel like cooking would be more like that for jayce- something reminding him of his childhood and parents (before Everything), something he doesnt do all the time for fun but makes him really happy when he does do it

oh no i think they're Dogshit at it. to be clear. mel grew up filthy rich and in my mind viktor only ever eats the plainest easiest to cook meals unless jayce cooks him something. he probably has like. oatmeal every day and whatever the piltover equivalent of instant ramen is. my headcanon for the spice rack is actually very close to yours, i think mel picked it up from the market one day because she wanted to get better at cooking. i think she's very out of her comfort zone now that they're more or less on the run so she buys it and at first viktor wrinkles his nose and is like this is an unnecessary expense we should be focusing on other things. but maybe he misses when jayce cooked for him and eventually he gets really into it. maybe TOO into it bc now he's making the most ridiculous spice combinations you've ever seen and it's a disaster half the time but hey it's part of the process and at least he's having fun. i think they deserve to be a little bad at something relatively low stakes together. ty for this ask btw im so glad you like the au so much!!! :}

1 whats up with his writing?

So during the og whole cake when the charlotte’s bring germa down to the book prison Yonji is seen in the background opening up books and ‘oo’ and ‘aw’-ing at all the animals and things in them and I thought it was really cute! In my heart hes totally a nerd and loves learning even if he is seen as a jock most of the time

So when I started thinking about what role i wanted him to play and what sort of hobby i wanted to give him that came to mind first! He wants to make a book, or series of books that talk about every island and all the animals and wildlife you would encounter on them!

2 was there a specific reason for the design?

Sort of? There are parts that had reason, and parts that i just thought looked cool

I pretty much always draw Yonji with headphones, part of it is just that i think he listens to music a lot, but some of it is that it blocks out a lot of extra noises so he doesnt get overwhelmed.

The neck scarf is the same one from when hes little and he takes it with when he leaves home for the first time sort of as a reminder, and after he meets up with Sanji again he takes it off, but still keeps it with him, he might tie it onto one of his belt loops on days where it is especially hard for him but for the most part it stays put away.

Its a little bit more prominent in more recent art but i draw the roots of his hair a little more yellow than the ends for obv reasons smthn smthn when the genes arent effecting him as much his hair starts to go a bit more blonde

N i think thats all that had some sort of reason behind it lol the rest was just cause i though it was silly

3 will i be writing a fanfic? Or is it just little comic pages?

Honestly ricks new book has just inspired me to reread wcwsthwas again.

I'm convinced Rick doesn't remember who his characters are anymore.

ill be the first to admit my characters can also be ooc! i think ive also fallen into the 'annabeth as a mom friend' trap (though piper is usually annabeth's mom in my fic) and i do think i have a lot of work to do keeping my characterizations consistent.

but heres the crux of my problem, right: this isnt my job. im a girl in my twenties who works full time and writes for fun. my ao3 is my hobby, and the characters i write are not canon. thats why it KILLS ME that rick writes with such a loose pen. in this new book, ive seen at least 5 inconsistencies, and thats IGNORING the timeline one (because why are people acting like leo is alive???). he has changed....just core things about characters. like grover the vegetarian eating a bacon sandwich and clovis now being morpehus' son. lack of attention to the little details, imo, just shows a lack of care. and as @glove23 pointed out, it shows that he really doeant respect his readers. he's acting like we're idiots, like we arent going to notice the changes. and, at the risk of aounding like a scooby doo villain, HES GETTING AWAY WITH IT TOO!! twitter laps up everything he does. it infuriates me to a whole other level.

this man is retconning shit left and right, tweaking stories previous to suit whatever new one he's writiig at the moment, and it just comes off as disrespectful and sloppy. fic writers are doing better than him at just about everything at this point. im not even talking about ME. there are heaps of really incredible pjo authors who seem to understand and respect the source material far more than rick seems to these days. and thats a goddamn shame.

ive read snippets of the book - some parts are okay and some are passable but most feel...weird. i dont know if its just me, but even the percabeth felt off. i hate how percy calls himself dumb in, like, every second sentence. when did that become a thing? and WHY? i wouldnt be surprised if this was ghostwritten. tbh, i hope it is. like you said, it feels like rick doesnt know how to write his characters anymore :/ sucks but i feel like i need to add a disclaimer to every fic now: this author has read only the original pjo and hoo books and all characters are written based on the ones of those series.

and ik this doesnt have anything to do with spacecamp, but in general these days everyone is saying how the triplets don’t put any effort into their content anymore and only do it for the money. i think you are forgetting that youtube is their full time paying job. doing youtube as a hobby and doing it as a career are completely different- and most people find that when they pursue their hobbies as a career choice they start to enjoy it less since they feel under pressure to perform a certain way (and don’t come at me for saying that because im “babying” the triplets, piss off).

put it this way, people that have high paying jobs that sit in an office all day don’t do that type of work for their enjoyment- they only work in that environment because they want to receive a larger income instead of having an enjoyable job with a poor wage. this is exactly the same as the triplets’ situation, i doubt very much that they actually do youtube for their personal enjoyment. at the end of the day they have to pay the bills and youtube is their only job- its not always going to be fun like it used to be (both for them and for us watching).

and for all of you thinking ‘well they shouldnt be youtubers if they cant entertain people’ you have to understand that getting a different job takes time. like the whole process of finding a career, interviewing etc. and as well as that, they are probably terrified to even consider looking for another career because of their batshit crazy fans (including me 💀). like can we just cut them some slack and let them get on with their job 😭. and at the end of the day they cant just stop being youtubers, they will never be able to live their lives as regular people now that they have created their platform- i doubt they will ever do anything else bc of the fear of being recognised in public whilst they are doing a more “normal” job.

Do you think in an alternative reality Kenjaku could have ended up being a better person? Maybe like a distant advisor on Jujutsu that comes and goes from Jujutsu High randomly? Or something. If yes, what do your think would have had to happen for that outcome?

i think it's more worth assessing kenjaku not as a bad person, but as a selfish person. playback is about selfish or self-absorbed people, more than 'bad' people (this isn't a jab at your choice of succinct language i understand entirely what you mean), because the flaws and cruelties of these people stem from their selfishness rather than an intrinsic badness.

i think the key difference between kenjaku and jian is their connection to other people. jian's flaws may not be as apparent as kenjaku's since we view things largely from his perspective, but don't let that fool you. he is a deeply flawed man, in the end. he plays god with the lives of other people, he makes key decisions about the future of the jujutsu world to benefit those he cares about solely on his own authority, he keeps secrets and sacrifices the people he doesn't care about pretty freely. he's a hypocrite, but he's still acting largely in society's best interest because of his love for the people who are a part of that society. kenjaku is bored, discarding projects before even seeing their conclusions through, because they have no investment in either end result. no conclusion of their experiments will ever satisfy them because in the end they don't care either way. yuji seems to be the sole exception here, because kenjaku cares about yuji. maybe not willingly but the care is there and it matters, it factors in.

not to be cheesy, but we even see it in canon. the catalyst of change in kenjaku is a connection with another person, someone who truly entertains and impresses them. in many instances, the ancient sorcerers are changed by forming a respect or appreciation for the modern ones they face off against - even sukuna, even uraume, even kenjaku. i think kenjaku could be a better person in this reality, or at least a less selfish one, if they were able to form connections to people like takaba and regain some of their passion for the world by loving the people in it. this wouldnt undo their crimes or make them kinder, i don't think they'd suddenly gain a sense of empathy (because having empathy does not make you good, and lacking it does not make you evil), but i think it would change them all the same. what would change with them and how they interact with society? maybe nothing, maybe everything. maybe they would be pushed to reconcile with their sister, or maybe they would disconnect from jujutsu entirely and pursue comedy or whatever their other hobbies are.

playback is a story about selfishness and a story about learning to love other people, i think. its about a lot of other things too but in the end its a story about love. and even if that love doesnt save the day or fix anything it matters that it was there.

hiya! thank you for your ask! it isnt and heres why

first of all i am /Not/ proship. i am not anti-anti or whatever either. what drives me to ship them is the fact theyre friends who like to be in each other's company. i like their sweet moments together. they bond over scamming an innocent population and bullying children. they're partners in crime. theyre besties who talk shit about others as a hobby.

i also don't think theyre already dating. i look at their relationship and im like. you guys have some kind of weird crush on each other and you're also selfish assholes. they're in the world's worst situationship.

"but dedede whacks escargoon a lot!" not only does escargoon get physical towards him too (the dynamic starts shifting in the dentist episode) but his "punishments" are often for a reason. escargoon is often very mean to dedede. in almost every episode he calls him hopeless or stupid or ugly or anything like that. and that gets him a whack. if i were dedede i'd do that too! it'd piss me off! having my lackey who i pay and who i consider my best friend insult me so overtly over and over LOL. but does escargoon ever try and stop him his evil doing? hell no! the guy helps him and gives him advice and ideas! he is NOT a good guy either. he loves being mean! he literally says it!

of course escargoon cares a loy about him. pretty sure everyone is aware. i don't even need to compile all the times he runs after him or worries about his well being. one time he "left" after he realised he'd have to do all the waddle dee's chores and didn't want to do his job. guess who's shown tearing up when seeing what poor state dedede is in after being left all on his own. he's always protecting him and defending him (sometimes backhandedly) from other people. he holds dedede dear. it's obvious he does. he's an old man, he's not being manipulated into liking dedede. he genuinely cares about the guy.

there are episodes where they bicker a lot but end up getting along, episodes where they're the best of friends and episodes focused on their resentment against one another. the show kind of yoyos with their relationship. it's not really anything to take seriously. if you get offended from their interactions you'd get a heart attack from watching looney tunes. the back and forth of their dynamic is part of the fun!

I *highly* recommend watching the original version of the show as the dub often replaces sweet lines they share with jokes that don't really hit the mark. it's a shame. (however i will give the dub some credit on occasion)

Actually, i have a [post] that compiles a lot of sweet screenshots of them together. it doesnt include the times where they hold on to each other in the cannons or in the whispy woods episode or when esxargoon said "isnt this strange? can't you feel we're striving apart?" and dedede says "what! that's ridiculous!" in a lighthearted voice. or when escargoon makes a joke about a late night drive being romantic and dedede just? laughs in agreement? there's a scene where they call each other stupid in the most friendly way ever. i actually have a handy twitter of fun scenes where escargoon gets away with some things (doesn't include when escargoon yells at him in the fireworks episode or orders him in episode 69), like saying *he's* actually the one in power because dedede isn't competent enough to reign. or dedede understanding escargoon's concerns of him becoming dumber than he is already.

they're just villains who are attached to each other and are a team no matter what.

escargoon protects dedede a lot, and he cares about him more than what his job entails, but people tend to forget he's got a special place in dedede's heart too.

dedede keeps an album of pictures they took together. he never threatens to fire him and, as far as i know, never even cuts his salary and is the only one in the castle to even have a bonus. he shares the food he keeps from the waddle dees with him in episode 93. he clarifies he doesnt want knuckle joe's monsters to attack either of them. he's fine spending large amounts of money on him. twice? he never calls him ugly somehow. he even thanks him for having put up with him for so long and serving him well when the world is about to end. and then he clings unto him because he's scared of dying alone. his way of showing affection is not the "im crying because i think you're in danger" type of way that escargoon shows a lot but it's there.

Of course i don't think they're perfect gay rep. that's literally so stupid. you think im gonna look at two dumbasses who are bitter towards one another from what, a parodic, satirical children's anime from the early 2000s, and go "hmm yes this is what every queer couple should aspire to be this is peak lgbt rep"

If we're gonna talk about them how about we talk about some issues this show has that no one ever addresses. the colorism of the uv episode that is not put into question, not even by tiff, the moral compass. the rising sun imagery that is very much intentional as dedede is a caricature. the fatphobia? the fact kirby calls kawasaki and nagoya homos??? straight up???

people often blame episode 88, and yeah, it's not my favorite episode either. everyone's weird in that episode, not just dedede! yabui is far from empathetic, even the ebrums are disrespectful, and escargoon taunts dedede into chasing him for laughs and teases him about his old age. even at the end he teases him. i think it's one of those episodes that you just have to blame on the writers kinda like 89 (for example this one has got the right message but the execution is painful to watch. poor tiff.)

now, if 88 had changed their relationship it'd be a different matter. there are some sweet moments they share outside of their general "partners in crime" dynamic past episode 88 in my post actually! my favorite is the one where dedede has his arm around escargoon who's curled up like a cat while they're sleeping and the waddle dees are tucking them in from episode 91. it makes me so happy.

i could probably talk so, so much more about them. they're a huge comfort to me. however i don't trust just anyone with them. i am very much aware some people like them for the wrong reasons. but if you have a brain you can see where i'm coming from.

the show makes fun of them because they're evil, self-centered cowards. not because they're "gay" or anything like that. i saw someone call them queerbait one time and i had to log off for a minute.

anyway, to answer your question, people who do not recognize their genuine attachment to one another are bound to have a twisted view of them. i don't like dedegoon because they're "toxic" or awful to each other. but because they're each other's best friends. that's all. it's fine if you don't ship them, too. i just hope i can prove to people that they do matter to each other and that they're friends :)

Okay so first off thanks for the ask anon! I had to read this several to think about how I would go about explaining (theorizing?) this. This might be a long one so buckle up everybody! (we wil also be discussing season 2 so if you don't want to read potential theories/spoilers, then please dont read)

First I feel we need to try to understand what Aziraphale meant when he said the infamous line:

When I first read the book, I didn't quite understand what Azi meant by this, and when I first watched the show in 2020 I didn't understand why he decided to talk about their relationship at that moment. It only took me a couple more rewatches and understanding of their characters to realize it's about their relationship but it isn't.

I feel like to uderstand this we need to look at both their characters: Crowley likes to move fast, not only while driving (which Aziraphale is pretending to discus here) but in his day to day life and decisions. We see this time and time again throughout their 6,000 years. Crowley changes his hair and his clothes all the time, he's with the times of humanity and adapts to their new ways and technology that we see no other celestial character can quite acomplish like him. And I think fundementally that boils down to the fact that Crowley gets bored! He gets bored of a hairstyle or style and so he just gets a new one, he gets tired of things and goes and creates mischief. I also think both his innate curiosity and boredom is part of the reason for his fall (he got bored and curious and started hanging out with the wrong people.) I've also noticed unlike Aziraphale who likes "calming" hobbies (which I'll touch on in a bit) Crowley doesnt. He doesn't sit and savor food, he usually only consumes liquids, which can usually be consumed quickly. The only slow hobby he does is sleep, but it seems he's very black and white about it; either sleeping for several years in a row or seemingly not sleeping or sleeping very little.

Aziraphale on the other hand is very old fashioned and likes to take things slow and 'smell the flowers'. He has had the same haircut SINCE THE BEGINNING OF LITERAL TIME! And rarley changes his outfits. He isn't very intune with humanities inventions and latest discoveries. And his hobbies consist of him sitting and enjoying his food bite by bite or sitting down to read a book. I also think Aziraphale is somewhat old fashioned in his thinking. In season one, one of his biggest faults was that he stil inherently wanted to belive that Heaven was fundementally good. We see this show in some of his conversations/arguements with Crowley in the early days where he puts what crowley does down to him just being a demon, and in the argument scene Azi stil cant get over the fact that they are angel and demon.

So what am I getting at? I'm trying to say that I think Azi has realzied their differences, and more specifically, he has figured out how easily Crowley gets bored, and I think at sometime between the 1940s church bombing and the 1967 scene, that he has started to worry that Crowley will eventually get bored of him, or more specifcally, if he was to want and try for a non platonic relationsip with Crowley, that he would get tired of it and move on to something else, leaving Azi who doesn't like change, absoloutely crushed. And I think the reason he's alluding to it when he's handing Crowley the holy water is because he's afraid Crowley has finally grew bored of life itself, and that's the reason he's asking for the holy water.

I also want to point out that the new 1940's scene could change this depending on what happens after the church bombing, but unless one of them tries to make a move (specifically Crowley) I don't understand why Azi would say Crowley is going to fast with their relationship in any other way ONLY.

I also don't think Azi was trying to hurt Crowley, I think it was just weighing heavily on his mind, and when Crowley offered him a ride, he just couldn't really hold the thought in any longer? You know what I mean? It has had at least 20 odd years to marinate in his mind.

Finally, I want to touch on Neil's "Aziraphale has started picking up the pace" line, and I believe this is refering to him coming to the realization that neither side is good, and what side their on should not limit them and their relatioship (like Crowley has discovered for ages now) and is starting to get bored of the way they've been treated and had to keep their friendship secret. Thus his sudden "I thought we carved this out for ourselves"

I hope this wasn't too long, and helped you understand in some way what I was trying to say!

Ok but seriously every time I try to write abt Hattie I end up either drastically changing their character or deleting any drafts I have of them bc they always end up feeling dry/boring (perhaps expodumping before every Hattie draft was not a good idea.) I wanna say it's been a year(?) since I've even attempted to talk abt her at length. So! I'll talk about her now ig. Let's hope I can keep his character somewhat consistent once I post this🫡

Hattie is, essentially, a god/goddess. This does not mean he is immortal (yet.) I can't into the lore too much much yet ok? ok.

I always feel like I'm horrible at describing personality but I think she comes off as arrogant + aloof + snobbish? As in he WILL talk very strangely and if you can't understand her perfectly then you're not worth it's time. The key to getting anywhere close to him is just to be persistently annoying lmao. Once you do get past that first barrier you realize he's just horrible at talking to other people. Loves showing off his accomplishments (aka wants praise RLY badly.) Becomes pretty clingy when she does eventually get attached to someone. I'd say she's hardworking but he's literally working towards nothing. So.

Appearance is kinda subject to change at any moment cuz im still deciding what would work best. But I'll tell u what I got for now. She tends to use a human-like form but with six arms instead of 2 (kind of like the humble s.pider..) Haven't quitee decided what his face would look like but maybe something in the uncanny valley? Like technically she looks fine but something about her is very very off .. (would probably be a constant smile that just doesnt look. right. ykwim?) Alternatively she could just have a bunch of eyes. Or he could switch between the two...?

Anyways. Exclusively wears the TACKIEST suits known to mankind. You will catch this guy dead before he ever willingly wears a plain t-shirt. Also has a tiny top hat hovering above her head at all times. By tiny I mean it's maybe the size of a fist.

The tiny hat is what Hattie names herself after! (He's not the best at naming things, including himself lol)

he built an entire city by himself! And by built I mean she designed it all and then it just kinda magically came to life (said city is in like. ohh how do I explain this. I guess you could call it a separate dimension from The Universe? It's just like. rly rly far away ig ... if u want me to go more in-depth into the worldbuilding I will. I need 2 be writing it down anyways lmao)

Anyways. Lives in the top floor of a BIGGGGG tower in the center of city-from-last-bullet-point-that-I-haven't-named-yet. Almost never comes out of the tower he loves it soooo much ..

OH AND BEFORE I FORGET. any pronouns and aroace! Figures that I projected my gender and sexuality on one of my oldest ocs (though I do tend to lean towards she/he/they/it cuz thats what the other characters use for her. and its mainly what I use for myself but we're going to ignore that lol)

LOVESSSS paperwork. Would spend the rest of their life pouring over paperwork but unfortunately it has these things called "friends that care about his wellbeing" or whatever...

For his motivations.. he'll tell u that he wants to become immortal (part of what previously mentioned Paperwork is about) but want he rly wants is a family. Said family could be literally anyone who he thinks even slightly cares abt her shes Very desperate at this point. (She doesn't consider her current two friends to be family since she thinks one of them hates him Rly Rly Bad. And the other one is just hard to get in touch with. So Hattie also thinks he doesn't enjoy being around her.)

Has MANYY hobbies .. even Hattie sometimes gets bored of paperwork. Ranges from archery (quit early bc she hated being out of her suits) to bartending (CRAZY good at bartending. Quite proud of it too) to lockpicking (Learned it partly bc they thought it would be a useful skill. Turns out she doesn't really have a reason to break into anything) Some of his favorite hobbies are learning different languages (makes him feel smarter + enjoys the challenge of it) and making dioramas! (first hobby he ever picked up besides making an entire city.[but she considers that more as a job] still has a soft spot for dioramas.)

Has perfect memory. Literally! Unable to forget anything he's ever seen/heard/etc. Has a hard time being alone w their own thoughts bc of this.

Speaking of sleep, Hattie feels things like hunger, thirst, and tiredness, things that a god normally wouldn't be able to feel. And she has absolutely no idea why!

well first of all, bubbles doesnt "fix them by dating them" 😭 she reaches out to them bc bubbles always wants to help, even those everyone else writes off as hopeless (three girls and a monster, stray bullet, etc) and she still could have had the same results if everything stayed platonic between them; i already drew her befriending lou gubrious and NOTHING romantic happened there (hes probably like 30 years older than her anyway!) bc its not that shes like. got magic kisses or anything. she just has the purest of hearts 💙 she does however end up dating either boomer or brick depending on timeline bc:

i cant see any of the x-creations being with a non superhuman/mutant longterm; we already know they can struggle to control their powers and strength when theyre excited or otherwise worked up, theyd be putting regular humans in danger. imagine blossom has her first kiss and she accidentally freezes someone from the inside out! they need to be with people who are. yknow. sturdier. for their own safety. that DOESNT mean they have to be with other x-creations though; mike and elmer are both superhuman/mutants (elmer has mostly unmutated but when he gets flustered and/or sweaty he returns to glue consistency) and obviously from characters like major man and AWSM we know there are other superheroes in this world, and as the girls get older therell probably be more heroes (and villains!) that are more age appropriate! but i think the x-creations are drawn together because:

the x-creations understand each other on a level that even other superhumans and mutants cant. not only are they made of the same chemical - they have the same... abnormalities. the lack of noses, the four fingers and toes, all the little quirks that make normal humans look at them funny and would turn away many potential partners - but theyve lived very similar lives. they understand the alienation, the othering, they even understand mojo jojo. mike believe doesnt understand what its like to be a few days, or even hours old, and already be written off as no good until a certain monkey comes along and uses you for his own gain

the rrb have literally Nothing going on outside of the girls. theyre petty street criminals who have one dad that hates them and the other dad is mojo jojo. they dont even really have any hobbies, except hockey i guess, but literally Who is gonna agree to play against them? the reason i usually portray them as being, at best whipped at worst obsessed with the girls, is bc they are like, the only good parts of their sucky, doomed from the start lives. they were born in a prison toilet. but the girls are smart and pretty and graceful and powerful and are the only ones around here that can put up a good fight and for some reason, sometimes, if theyre lucky, theyll look in the rrbs general direction with something other than the same level of disdain youd give a bug that wont fly out through the open window. the girls embody the lives the boys were never supposed to have, and the second they stop using that to cling to the hate they were created to feel, they become their lifeline. the girls arent as unhealthily attached to the boys as they are to them, bc theyve got like... other stuff going on. hobbies, career prospects, even other friends! but they still have that connection to them, the only other x-creations in town, and as soon as the boys start showering more than twice a month they wont be that bad to look at either

and i DO have ideas for the girls but i also think i should like... say what i think the girls will end up doing in the regular timeline first. ive got more for the regular timelines ppg than the bad end ppg and ive got more for bad end rrb than regular end rrb (regular end rrb either end up "incel" or "househusbands", but a certain someone has something more to do in bad end, and even the incel is less comic relief here)

Requisite grouch about the representation of embroidery, particularly in Bridgerton. Season 3, Im just getting to. So I get the point of this little scene is "Eloise is not interested in conventional feminine topics and doesnt fit in with her peers, and we are doing this by showing disdain for embroidery" and I fully get that in the cultural consciousness embroidery is this frivolous nonsense that rich women did to keep busy and isnt worth anything.

But two things. One, as Ive said before, the Bridgerton costuming is full of embroidery, of the kind that has to be machine made. And Im not gonna talk about historical accuracy because I consider the costuming part of the shows premise ie something you just have to accept to enjoy the show because its central. Like you cant enjoy Dungeon Meshi if you have to know how its possible for magic and dungeons to exist, you just have to accept that its part of the setting.

So either the seamstress has a few machines shes using for the lavish embroidery or her cloth is extravagantly expensive beyond all reason. LIke even more than youre already thinking.

And these women are surrounded by it, making their trade with it, its literally built into their fashion. So scorn for it makes zero sense. Second, in this scene in particular at the ball. The dialogue goes, almost exactly:

"Well the leaf stitch is tried and true"

[I think Eloise says something]

"Then theres the running stitch, the straight stitch, the fern stitch, the French knot -"

"What's your favourite stitch Eloise?"

This is not how people talk about embroidery! Its not exciting because of the stitches that exist, its exciting for how you use the stitches and what shapes and textures you can make, and how you manipulate the thread and fabric to create all kinds of interesting effects and patterns. And I fully understand that someone can be bored by that, its not for everyone. Im just mad that their "this is a normal conversation about embroidery" is listing stitching and asking someone their favourite. They could have done something like

Thats like, a real conversation someone might have that someone else could find boring, and its respectful - and realistic - to the hobby and craft and art of embroidery! It sounds like something a human might say. Not "here are some stitch names, wait why are you being rude?". Its like imitating a conversation about someones dog like "and he has paws and his paws have nails and then he has knees and then he has two eyes and a tail" thats not how people talk about dogs! you might see "his tail is so waggy, and his eyes are so soulful, and his little feet are the cutest thing, let me tell you a story -". We couldve had a story about an embroidery mishap, that could be funny.

but no we must hold onto old outdated and sexist ideas about things and disdain them for no good reason while our costume department is embroidering everything because lets not examine any of our attitudes about anything!

The worst was still the dressmaker last season complaining about ladies and their embroidery MAAM THATS LITERALLY YOUR JOB. Ok now I can go back to watching for the pretties. And I very much admire Colin's big swooshy coat.

Im also trying to work out if Cressida is sapphic. Eloise and Pen absolutely have "middle grade sapphic friends have strangely intense friendship and then huge strangely intense breakup fight," and looks like Pen is bi, but Im really hoping they properly go into queer themes with Eloise and not just sign her up for a guy later. Also pretty sure the latest Bridgerton this season - Francesca? - is ace. Big ace vibes on her.

persona 4 revival rant +unrealistic expectations

Ok so i love persona4 do not misunderstand me. I think the characters are very strong and the friend group probably feels like the strongest group of friends in any of the games. Im excited for the better graphics. The game feels almost nostolgic to me even though i only played and watched it during 2020. part of that is probably because it was something positive and friendship heavy during the pandemic when i was super isolated, and the other part is that the fashion/ui design/and color pallette remind me of being a kid.

HOWEVER, my main issue with the game is the open ended take it has for Kanji's sexuality and Naoto's gender. At the time it realised i think it worked, but from a modern lense it feels like they what to have their cake and eat it to.

Im not saying that for P4r that Kanji has to be Bi, i get that a part of the character is that a man liking stereotypical feminine things doesnt make him gay. Thats fine, but when we depict him clearly having a crush on a masc character but then walk it back by going "its ok cause naotos a girl and kanji was just nervous to ask girls out." Being Bi and tackling toxic masculinity are not exclusive, you can still be gay and feel the pressure to "be a man." we can do both we can acknowledge that there are harmful pressures for men to live up to and that there are also stigmas against being queer in a small town

And additonally i feel that the game walks back its messaging with the homophobia. like "kanji showed us his fears and what he thinks are the worst things about himself" which are being seen as lesser because of femmine hobbies and possibly being queer. And the whole point is showing people your fears and having them accept you anyway. But like the game doesnt accept kanji, he's constantly subject to homophobia from his friend group and no on gets repremanded. It doesnt matter if hes actually gay or whatever because his friends clearly dont full accept him because of the idea he may be gay.

For Naoto i also understand its complicated. My main issue with them comes from the negative depiction of gender reconstruction surgery, when the girls force them to be more "girly" even though it visibly makes them uncomfotable, and the unclearness at least in the english version of : how does their desire of wnting to be taking serious regardless of age tie into them wanting to hid their gender ( ie why would a. teenage boy be taken more seriously than a teenage girl) i also think p5 depicts woman struggles in a male dominated workforce better with Sae, she has to become cold and ruthless just to be on the same level as other men in her field-- which i think is a lot cleaner and better executed idea

so, for revival: i dont think they have to canonically make kanji gay or Naoto trans, they can still be open ended, what i do want the game to change is reliance on homophobia for comedy and the forcing of these characters back into stereotypical boxes by the main cast because it undermines the message. "We accept you as you are, expect kanji being gay and naoto not being fem"

anyway i hope that makes sense. my unrealistic hope is that they do make kanji bi and naoto trans and piss off every dude bro and incel persona fan
