When Bea had made her way to the Longbottom house, each and every inch of her had hoped to encounter Alice and not Frank. There was no preferred one between the two, admiring them equally for all the work but a part of her couldn't help but wonder, especially after the conversation she'd had with Frank after Edgar's engagement had become public knowledge. Sometimes she simply needed to talk to a witch. Not Andromeda, though no. Andy meant the world but the concern she'd come to Alice with that day, Andy could not help out with it.

Finally she saw the figure pop up, having knocked mere seconds ago. "I hope you don't mind me coming here unannounced." Surely, Alice would understand. "I need to talk to you about something. I don't see anyone who would fit this better than you. And you might have answers." Alice Longbottom, perhaps the one solution she'd been looking for.

For weeks, if not months the blonde had thought about the things going on outside, the war and tension brewing. She was tired of it. "I can't sit in the backline, hiding away." Bea hoped that would be enough to explain the situation.

“Do you think these would look good on a reception desk?” Angela had been staring at the flowers for what felt like hours. They all looked fresh, would light up any given room and yet it felt as though none of them were quite fitting enough for her little clinic. The medic wanted it to be nice and yet not overwhelming. Spring had brought forth a need for warmth, and with it a wave of missing those she held dear. So far, the blonde had not been able to find a single one of her team. If luck would be on her side just once.

At the end of the day her mind was far more occupied with those that were missing and her very desperate need to remake her nano technology to help more patients to be thinking of flowers. It was simply a gesture of her trying. “I hope you don’t mind me asking.” A random passerby and she was asking questions about a floral arrangement for a clinic. It seemed almost absurd.

this post is fearmongering. the results of this study are concerning and should definitely be a matter of public discussion, but this is certainly not the conclusion the researchers came to.

the point of the study was to assess the risks of exposure to toxic metals- something one of the co-authors notes are “ubiquitous” fwiw- via menstrual products. Their research confirmed that these metals are indeed present in tampons, but no further conclusions are drawn. it is possible the metal entered into the cotton from the soil, which is a well-known phenomenon; cotton is so good at lifting heavy metals that it has actually been suggested as a part of the solution for revitalizing polluted ground.

the authors conclude with an acknowledgement that the study should be repeated- their sample size was 60 tampons- and a suggestion that further testing ought to be done to indicate whether or not these metals can even leech out of the tampon in the first place, let alone whether or not such leeching could occur at levels deleterious to human health.

there is, in fact, a body of research- too small, for sure, but much larger than this single study- indicating that long-term proper tampon use has no observable negative impact on health. i am grateful and thrilled that more research is being done and i hope that this study is the first of many on this line of questioning, but i am really frustrated at this post and the response it got.

obviously, if this study alters your approach to menstrual health, more power to you. consumers should be informed-risk-takers, and menstrual health is double-obviously a very personal choice. but it definitely wasn't the researchers concluding that you ought to “avoid using tampons at all cost," only this tumblr user did. the lead author of the paper, in fact, specifically says that she hopes people do NOT panic about the results.

(the notes of the post were disappointing. people affirming that they knew they were right to be suspicious of tampons all along, or even recommending alternatives that actually have very little to no research regarding the safety of long-term use, etc. it’s a different conversation, but categorical distrust of tampons is old-school misogyny. you certainly shouldn't wear them if you don’t want to, but there is nothing inherently scary or wrong about them, and people who prefer them are not being reckless or crass.)

Despite how proud Leta was about her work, the determination showing in each new design, the witch let very few people into her atelier. Apart from her brother the list was rather short and she very much preferred to keep it that way. Evelyn simply happened to be among those allowed to be let through to her atelier. If one had asked, the blonde would have described the other as a friend. Only the recent engagement to her other friend, one of the closest friendships she had, caused her a bit of worry. Benefit of the doubt certainly played its part.

"Have you come to pick up your order?" Leta had on occasion designed the other's outfits, robes and other things. And each time had there been a hidden compartment or another. "I think I might have something extra this time."
