I know that penelope saying "don't tell me you're not the same person, you're always my husband" is just supposed to be her saying that all she cares about is that he's odysseus and he loves her (and don't get me wrong it IS incredibly sweet and romantic and it makes me tear up a little)

but considering the first thing odysseus does in the musical is commit war crimes and then he just never stops at all, it tickles me to think that she's also saying he's always been a horrible little monster, she's always known, and she thinks the horrors are part of the fun.

there is something about magic systems that borrow from a specific craft that makes them so special. Maybe it’s because they feel more tangible and it’s very easy to get swept away by the passion for the craft that is clearly written on every page.

Whether it’s the art based magic system in Witch Hat Atelier. Or the translation based magic system in Babel. Or the alchemy/chemistry based magic system in Fullmetal Alchemist.

The relation to a specific craft makes the characters passion for their magic feel so personal and relatable. Because there is magic in art, in translation, in chemistry and any other craft that people partake in. The magic system becomes a love letter towards creation and everyone who creates and there is nothing world building wise that could be more charming.

i know a lot of people like to make fun of young queer people who use a bunch of microlabels and engage in niche or "cringe" aesthetics but im gonna be so honest, i love them so much. i 100% was that kid and while now i don't really use or think about any of the labels i used back then, that doesn't make that time any less valuable and valid (and it doesn't make someone less valid if they do keep using that terminology into their adult life!). queer kids who are figuring themselves out and are learning about new fun words for genders and pronouns and sexualities deserve to run wild and be loud and happy and not carry and be impacted by the shame that many of us have been taught to hold.

my cousin is a year younger than how old i was when i first realized i was queer and they've vaguely known they were queer for a couple years now. personally, i think that's pretty awesome. recently they've gotten into the very stereotypical scene kid aesthetic and i make a point to compliment them on it every time i see them. almost every time i see them they have a new adjustment as to how they view their gender/sexuality and i always tell them that that's really cool and i give them a hug. recently they told me they have a boyfriend and listed like 3 separate labels as to how he defines his gender and i asked them if i was remembering the definitions of all those words correctly (which i was because, like i said, i was that kid lol).

it's just all these small things that seem so trivial or "weird/cringe" that so many people look down on queer kids for engaging in and i'll never understand it. i think it is so unbelievably cool that these people are figuring themselves out and finding new terms and identities and things that they can be and they're just so excited by it. being excited by queerness is cool! wanting to engage in niche subcultures is cool! allowing yourself to be who you are in that moment without the worrying guilt of having to get it "right" is wonderful and awesome and cool and how it should be!! please do not teach the queer kids to be ashamed of themselves in a time where they should be able to run wild and figure out their identities in a way that truly makes them happy!!!!

have been thinking about professor sol even. professor bufo with no clearly discernable lesson plan. sol bufo ostensibly martial arts professor who spent two weeks running a yoga and meditation program and shows up to the next class with crochet hooks for everyone. professor bufo who is technically supposed to be assigning grades to students but hasnt given anyone less than an A because "i think they worked really hard and they did a great job :)" (referring to the ugliest and most malformed pot holder anyone has laid eyes upon in their life). professor bufo who is on his way to cluelessly kickstart the sexual awakening of about half the cohort of the academys new students. sol bufo adjunct professor who is gone half the year and his first class back is so immediately and easily baited into going into a long tangent about how cool his friends are. sol who is pretty sure hes easily the most useless professor on campus and almost cries when he sees his little desk overflowing with thank you notes at the end of the year. professor bufo absolutely fucking gloriously hot in the tightest little sweater vest because there were faculty complaints when he wore a crop top to class.

the ii neg tumblr blog is like my actual personal #1 enemy i cant BELIEVE they followed me over a joke ask i responded to over a year ago (i blocked them and have blocked every account they've remade lmao) just such hateful bullshit looking for ANY excuse to attack this random youtube webseries and the ppl who work on it including MANY STATEMENTS that are just straight up not true. someone could send them an ask like "hey justin is actually homophobic and called me slurs irl i hope they all die in a car crash <3" and they will post it without any questions. no further research cuz it isnt about what's true or actually offering constructive criticism on the writing of the show it's about being hateful and cruel and spreading lies & death threats. some actual famous people dont have accounts as dedicated to attacking them and every aspect of their identity and career as these random ass guys who make a YOUTUBE WEBSERIES do like why are you actively wishing death upon them?? are you insane?

The idea of Jynbixmelshian coparents is growing on me, I've got so many ideas about these four trying to raise a functional human being:

[after finding Bix again] Cassian, sitting down in shock: I'm a father? Jyn, awkwardly patting his back: Wait, does this make me a stepmom? Melshi: ...Do you want me to take care of the dishes while you put the kid to bed? Bix: You. You are now my favourite.

I mean, considering how long it took the war to end and all the rebuilding afterwards, the kid is at least 5-6 years old by the time the reunion happens, so they're definitely old enough to start expressing opinions

Small child, looking up at Cassian: Are you my papa? Cassian: Yes, I am. Small child: Did you kill any bad guys? Cassian: What? Small child: Mama said you were fighting the bad guys to keep us safe. Did you kill them? How many bad guys did you kill? Jyn: Ok, I like this kid now Small child: Did you see the Jedi? Does he really have a light sword? They said Jedi aren't real at school. Can I meet him? I heard Jedi aren't supposed to kill people, but does he chop their arms off with his sword? Jyn: You and I are going to get along, I can tell.

Bix is Mama, Cassian is Papa. Jyn swings back and forth between complete panic at any maternal moniker and bursting with emotion at someone feeling comfortable enough with her to call her family. Usually kiddo calls her Jiji or as they get older, a very whiny teenaged Mo-o-om ("But Mo-o-om, all the other kids are doing it!" "And you aren't going to be one of them, so deal with it.") Melshi is Dada.

There's a transition period where Bix, who's been a single parent for years, figures out how she feels about the potential of now having multiple fellow parents in both her life and kiddo's life. After much reflection and conversation, she decides it's worth going for. Bee is still the first honourary co-parent though.

Every teacher at the school learns to dread parent-teacher meeting nights. There are no safe options. Bix smiles politely and asks why they're pushing all the kids towards an academic track while putting down the trades. Melshi casually drops complex questions about curriculum content while they're showing off the arts-and-crafts display. Cassian and Jyn mostly stand there with their arms crossed, looking profoundly unimpressed by everything that is said. Sometimes Jyn interjects to ask why they have no self-defence policy. If a group of kids is pushing another kid around, surely running to get a teacher is slower and less effective than being able to punch them back.

(Child is hideously embarrassed and takes to hiding the slips informing parents of teacher meetings. This works for about six months and then Cassian joins the PTA. The school has never seen such effectively managed bake sales)

Cassian tells the best stories and is in high demand at bedtimes. Bix, as far as kiddo is concerned, is the font of all knowledge in the galaxy and may even be a secret Jedi because she always seems to know what's happening even when her back is turned (kiddo is not nearly as sneaky as any of their parents; also Bix is well-versed herself in the ways of childhood mischief). Melshi's the steady one, always there when something needs doing whether it's the daily chores or a shoulder to cry on or picking them up after they've stayed out late at night. Jyn is the cool parent, who teaches kiddo all kinds of interesting things (some of which are even age-appropriate) and takes them on fun trips (to the snack store and the swimming pool mostly) and can even flip a bottle upside down and have it land right-side up on the table.

(Meanwhile behind the scenes, Bix and Jyn have just had another quarrel about whether the new arcade is an appropriate place to take a child; Melshi almost missed after-school pickup because nobody remembered to update the monster of a shared calendar that robotics club is cancelled this week; Cassian has been trying to figure out a way to tell General Cracken that he can't go to Corellia next week because kiddo is playing Tree #2 in the school play; and they've been eating takeout dinner for the past three days because everyone's been too tired to cook)

Between the four of them, they have many friends everywhere such that there is a village behind this child. Some are happy to babysit (Wilmon and Dreena), others are content to be affectionate aunts and uncles bearing gifts (Vel, Bodhi), still others prefer to keep a distance but help out in their own way (Kleya has diverted so many intelligence requests from the New Republic away from them).

It is an ongoing argument over who kiddo learned to swear from. The moving finger usually goes back and forth between Jyn (self-explanatory) and Bix (sometimes a project gets really frustrating), with Cassian also catching the occasional accusation. Only Melshi knows that it was Auntie Vel, but he's no snitch.

Hey, you're being lied to about what fitness constitutes. If you can't work in an hour-long crossfit slog, but you can work in a five-minute walk, then that is still fitness. If you can't use your legs but you can do arm circles every now and again, that is still fitness. If you're moving around at work, that's still fitness. It can be intentional or incidental, but here's the best part: your body doesn't care if you're dedicating specific work-out times. It doesn't care if the "only" fitness it gets is your nine to five on your feet. It doesn't care, fitness is fitness is fitness. Some of us do it differently, but the end result is more or less similar.

If you can do any type of fitness safely, your body isn't going to care if you're doing it like an Olympic athlete or if you're just a casual.

Something that would help balance Arthur even if Jack is prone to shutting his emotions down (unless in private and even then unwillingly and while doing something super painful) is Mina, who maybe didn't know Quincey long but he was important to her and died in her and Jonathan't arms, like how she loved Lucy all her life but he fell in love with Lucy even if he didn't know her for as long. Also both of them lost their fathers (Hawkins wasn't her dad but she considered him as such). They have a lot of common to share now, and Mina is more open about crying together.

Yes I absolutely think Arthur turns to other members of the group for emotional support too! Jack may be his closest friend but he’s definitely not always available and the group’s shared trauma probably makes it easier to grieve together.

I loooove any hcs about how any of the characters interact in regard to recovering from the events of the novel, Mina and art especially bc it isn’t one I’ve really seen before! But they were the two closest to Lucy and shared love for Quincey, so I can definitely see them having a lot to discuss and provide mutual support for when jack is feeling emotionally reserved
