Occasional Visits

Once upon a time, there was a man who had a pit of Lazarus and was the Head of the League of Assassins. Perhaps the Lazarus is rancid ecto, and the death emanating from all of the members around to it is really starting to pull some attention.

And perhaps, one High Queen of the Infinite Realms early on had decided that, "Man, I gotta check this out." Time, of course, decides that "That would be a good precaution. Just be careful." And gives a few time portal visits.

Now, imagine those visits keep going. For the Head of the League, it is a first meeting of suspicion followed by rivalry, before the years churn along into an amicable acquaintance. For the High Queen, it is a FrootLoop who needs to be kept under watch, before years grind down the drive to continue messing with his plans and go back to managing the Realms and allowing for others to take action.

Contemplate the idea that only five years with visits for the High Queen is decades with occasional visits for the Head of the League. Maybe it is an occasion that is now greeted with a bit of celebration, for someone who he can talk too and know from the past who isn't now against him or dead.

And maybe, just maybe, he's about to get another visit. Right in the middle of something important. Who could say?

is this a common experience? we're an autistic system. our cohost has become hyperfixated on UTAU stuff, mainly kasane teto. this isn't a system-wide hyperfocus though, it's mainly just something she is interested in, but it's a very intense interest regardless. for reference, we're quoigenic

also as a side note, how can she pursue her interest in learning how to write songs when we're already so busy? she's always awake but she's usually the one helping us with coursework and whatnot

I'm not sure such specifics are common, but it's common for headmates to have different interests regardless of origin. For example, our Strategist is more interested in essay writing than Nacorn. Nacorn is more interested in Hollow Knight than Dancer. Dancer is more interested in dancing (who could have guessed) than me. And on and on. You can even have hyperfixations and special interests that aren't shared with the whole system! So, yes, that is a common experience.

For making time, I'm going to give some advice that I learned long ago from many authors on how to make time for writing: don't worry about setting aside giant blocks of time to learn and work. Just do a tiny bit at a time whenever you have a few minutes. You're waiting for the bus; you're eating breakfast; the children you're babysitting have been put down for a nap (okay, maybe that one's too specific)... Those little pockets of time add up. You can watch a video on writing songs in snippets over the course of those pockets, or add a few notes to a song, or do other things, and over time, that builds to a finished project. There are often lots of little pockets of time like this over the course of a week – you just have to look for them!

I am not someone who rlly takes requests. I wrote some stuff before, accepting requests and whatnot, but the sheer amount became overwhelming and quite stressful, which burnt me out. A request or two(or three) is a-okay for me tho.

Long stories are something I have not yet experimented with, so I don't think I would he making any soon due to my waning motivation levels. A one-shot would probably the most common thing to find here.

part 1 of my dumb thoughts about rhinedottir, except it's just highlighting the fact that alchemy has become an actual hyperfixation for me and not a haha funny joke interest 😔 (except except there no alchemy here but the next part,,,)

chronic and acute exposure to forbidden knowledge and the abyss but it is rambling, incoherent, and I switched from writing this on my laptop to my phone halfway thru

(Knowing of the comparison of forbidden knowledge/abyss to radiation also helps the understanding of this I'm just realizing that!!!)

I don't know. I just feel like Rhine ended up with a double whammy when it comes to abyssal stuff because she was messing with it long before the cataclysm. So far, we don't know if the Art of Khemia was inherently tied to the abyss, but by the time Rhine came around, it was certainly being used! So methinks it'd be plausible that she got a lower dose of abyssal corruption over longer periods of time (chronic) and then ended up with a much higher exposure over a shorter amount of time during the cataclysm (acute). The latter is more obvious because her lil corrosive creatures got out, and I'm sure all living Khaenri'ahns got exposed to that level of corruption. The acute exposure leads to the more obvious symptoms (like dains arm and presumably why most khaenri'ahns we see wear a partial mask), but that's not new information, seeing as most fan designs for Rhine have some sort of similarity to the others!

The biggest thing that wrinkles my brain is thinking about her chronic exposure from using the abyss in her alchemical endeavors. I think the majority of her mental decline stems from this because the main symptoms are said to come from prolonged exposure and include things like hallucinations, delusions, insanity, and, most importantly, a change of personality by exacerbating desires. This is also why I think it's important to have a degree of separation when talking about Rhinedottir and Gold; Gold is the cold and strict woman who threatened (and went through with) leaving Albedo, the one who unleashed her abyssal creations in the cataclysm. Her desires of wanting to complete her primordial human project and achieve perfection have been exacerbated by her corruption to the point that it is all she cares about, why she abandoned her son and became the Great Sinner. On the other hand, Rhinedottir is the loving, proud mother that Durin described in all of those weapon descriptions. While her side projects were important to her, she had the ability to care for other things and genuinely wanted to help her nation. Both sides are her, but the difference is how poisoned her mind has become. Also, we don't know about hallucinations, but she definitely was a bit delulu and insane.

Besides the mental, I think she'd also display some physical characteristics of abyssal corruption as well! The major symptom from abyssal corruption is a worsening cough (that ends with coughing out ur insides... but she can't die, so... yeah), while forbidden knowledge specifically can lead to more. It is what led to Eleazar... I'm sure you can figure out where I'm going with this... Yes, I like to think that Rhine induced symptoms resembling Eleazar. While the progression would be different and whatnot, I just like the idea of her being chronically ill. But, her condition tends to stay relatively stable, unless she's actively meddling in abyssal shit again,,, like Alice can Tell when she's fucking around and finding out again because she'll start coughing hard enough to cough up blood and she's clumsier than normal and Alice can just tell she's fatigued and in a lot of pain🥲 but her flares stay at this level and it doesn't progress into to late stages of Eleazar. Also she does have the scale like sores, but the other half of her corruption conveniently mostly overlaps the affected spots, which has led to a kinda cool effect where the scales take on the abyssal colors!

This has taken literally far too long to write out because my brain hasn't turned on all day and uh yeah me no thinky so I'm gonna cut it here for now idk if this makes ANY SENSE lmao

Tldr Rhine got a big burst of abyssal exposure when all the other Khaenri'ahns did, but also long term exposure to forbidden knowledge and abyss which has made her go nuts and end up with an Eleazar adjacent condition because I said so

A little side note to the tags I seem to be "clogging up"...

So I got an ask lately accusing me of "clogging up" fandom tags when I post original fiction. Now, I see the "problem". You expect to see your blorbo. Sure thing, I get it.

BUT

You never had the urge to broaden your horizon a little? To look beyond? If not, fine, you keep scrolling until you find the perfect post for your fandom needs, that's totally fine. (Just, maybe, don't let me know? Just block me or scroll past my post and be done with it? Would be so much less trouble!)

If you do not have a problem with one (1) weekly (!) post of mine on your favorite tag, then let me explain WHY I'm poking my head into all these different fandoms.

As I said, I write ORIGINAL FICTION, yes, but all my stories are inspired by the same people these tags are for! Bits and pieces of them, looks, voices, characteristics, dynamics, story elements, etc. I am a consumer too! I may not be an active part of your favorite fandom, but I'm a lurker, I see things as well, and I consume, and I ingest it all, and I chose to form all those different aspects into new characters.

For example: The Daddy character in my Dd/lg story LOST & FOUND sometimes looks like Pedro Pascal to me, sometimes like Jensen Ackles, (or any other tall, bearded man really), sounds like Simon Riley (without the accent) or Geralt of Rivia, is soft like Joel Miller or Arthur Morgan can be to their loved ones, has a dominant presence like Wolverine, or an intimidating one like Billy Butcher. Or any other male character (or person) I might have stumbled upon and deemed somewhat attractive and/or interesting.

(Same with female characters, of course, for example I do have a strong vibe towards Geralt and Yennefer when I imagine Mommy and Daddy, or maybe Joel and Tess, or other couples I've seen somewhere.)

I create with other things in mind, as writers do. We can't produce things out of an empty void.

Now, I also always keep my original characters vague, barely describe their physical appearances BECAUSE I want to speak to as many people as possible, because I want you, dear reader, to fill in the blanks. Sir from my other original fiction INFATUATED is another character I kept intentionally vague, he doesn't even have a name (spoiler: Daddy may or may not get one, just because it fits the story)!

You may think I'm trying too hard to appease everyone, but what if I am? I just want my stories to be read, and Tumblr is a fandom place, and original fiction has a really hard time finding potential readers. I also found it doesn't really matter who your characters are, how they look like, it's their actions that bring the story forward, and so I'm completely fine with the way I portray characters. And I really hope you are too.

Like I mentioned, I get the need to read stories about your favorite blorbo and their specific mannerisms and looks and whatnot, I was part of a fandom too once, I know the obsession, the hyperfixation, but I still ask you to be gentle with writers trying something different.

Don't go around bashing them because they don't write the way you want them to. Ignore, block, scroll away, it's so easy! Don't get riled up because your Reader-insert story doesn't portray how YOU are perfectly (because how could it? It's tailored to reach a wide audience and hmm, guess what, people are different, and sometimes, the Reader character needs to have some defining features or a backstory to bring the plot along), just immerse yourself in the story, have an open mind, let new things in.

I write for fun, I love writing, and I love sharing my stuff. I still get very anxious when I share it though, because there are so many people here, and when there are a lot of people, there will always be one or two who yell the loudest, and while I also get positive feedback, the negative one will always weigh more, unfortunately...

So what I am ranting/pleading/yapping on about is this: I apologize for "clogging up" your fandom tags with my weekly posts of original fiction. Please forgive me, but I will not stop. I spent so much time and energy writing these stories, and while I do write for myself, as they say, I still want what I created to be read and seen by others.

And thus far, it did work, people came and read and liked what I posted, and I am so grateful! (Thank you for giving me a chance, even if it's not what you were looking for!)

I just hope I can continue spreading my works with the means I used before without pulling the wrath of more people... I do not mean any harm. I keep my posts short (above the cut anyway). If the moodboard header isn't for you, I am sorry, but I want my posts to be somewhat aesthetically pleasing, and I will not use any of your blorbos, to keep it vague. Those pictures are just to set the tone, nothing more, no representation of the characters portrayed!

All I ask for is either your understanding or your ignorance (as in: ignore me pls). If you agree with me, thank you, if not, that's valid, but just know that every negative comment can cause any writer to stop creating something others enjoyed. We rise and fall with whatever feedback we're getting.

A Few Rules for Commissions/Story Requests (From Me Specifically):

I hyperfixate on stuff a lot, so it could be a while before I finish the request/commission. Hounding me will not make me write the fic faster, either - it makes me lose interest in writing the story, so please for the love of God, be patient. Writers have lives, too, so don't expect them to bow down to your every whim.

I cannot write smut on my own for the life of me (I think I might be heteroromantic asexual, but I'm not positive), so if you ask for something NSFW, I can't guarantee that it will be good. If you're looking for hardcore stuff, go ask TheReaderInsertLady.

Our music taste varies tbh!! rn tho we're hyperfixated music-wise on queens of the stone age and that's like. 100% PT & Gideon's faults SJDJDJDJDJSJDJ genre-wise primarily we listen to rock but a fewww of us r into electronic stuff & whatnot!

Yes and yes!! our main headspace rn is Harry's, it's a buncha disconnected-ish bedrooms that we all kinda fast travel to and from. Almost every Skill has their own room or they share a room w others but funnily enough Harry himself doesn't have a room here. then again he barely visits HFJDJSJDJFFJ and our headspace outside Harry's is very large and expansive! rn the main area is a giant meadow with a cave entrance in the distance, and a couple houses—the houses belong to Dark andddd.... I think Chase?? idk. whoever the fuck is in charge of the Septic household owns the house but I'm gonna be honest I don't think they ever decided who's in charge AUAISJSJDJDJ. We've got plenty more bits n pieces in our headspace but that's the main layer!

7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories?

Um yes ^_^ Most of my characters are for my pet project sleepy creek which ive talked about on and off on this blog. I have a couple other ones that're part of a different project thats like a western apocalypse thing but i dont think ive really mentioned them at all because its still very much a rough concept. 14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory

umm -looking at the list- that's all of them but specifically I will go with Frenzy :] Frenzy is my fallout OC, they're a traveling merchant with a LOT of baggage. They're an escaped member of the cult of the mothman in pt pleasant. They were raised on violence and as such have a lot of blood on their hands, and on top of that were groomed from the time they were young into believing they had a grand fate within the cult. After they escape, this feeling that they must be destined for greatness never really goes away, and manifests as guilt for the things they had done while with the cult. As such they believe themselves to be a sort of martyr, somebody to suffer or even die for the assistance of others.

21. Your most artistic OC

Mmmmm this is tough. As far as traditional art goes like sculptures and painting and whatnot, it's a solid tie between Ben and Allistor. They both work with many mediums, but Ben prefers more three dimensional works like sculptures or taxidermy pieces, though he also enjoys charcoal, while Allistor is more inclined to paint or use pastels/colored pencils/things like that.

As for other forms of art, Cutler has a band and makes music for a living ^_^ There's more but off the top of my head I can't remember them

28. Your most dangerous OC?

Osiris......he is a serial killer. So.

35. Any sibling characters?

Yes. Like, all of them. It's honestly easier to list characters that DON'T have siblings than the ones that do. But as for the main ones, Alex and Allistor are brothers, Wren has a brother named Cameron that's important to their arc(and eventually has his own), Masaru has two siblings I haven't introduced that are important to his backstory. AND Travis has a baby sister named Beth that he is very close with.

42. Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods?

Danny hands down. Actually canonically had a hyperfix on greek lit in high school. Oedipus, Antigone, all that good stuff.

So I’ve more or less been pseudo interviewing some of my favorite authors and whatnot and I don’t suppose you’d answer a few questions for me for fun? Feel free to say no, seriously. But if you want to…

1: So what made you start writing? Have you always had a talent for it or is it a more recent thing?

2: if you were to be remembered for a work of art, what medium and then what genre/subject would you want it to be for?

3: what made you want to write off Kate/Yelena in particular? Did you see the macaroni scene and was like “yes, the chemistry is off the charts” or did you just like one of them and said the other character was a good a match as any?

I started writing when i was 11 and thus i don't quite remember why. i definitely wasn't a prodigy or whatever; it took a lot of time and effort and practice. but it didn't feel taxing because it was always fun for me. so i had intrinsic motivation to write. although i stopped for 5 years in my 20s because of depression.

i haven't thought about being remembered because i'm only turning 30 this week. if i did, i probably wouldn't want to be remembered for just a single work or genre.

i didn't have a hyperfixation and my friend was into them. i watched the show and while i did see that they were cute together, they didn't totally grab me or made me actively want to write for them. MCU stuff in general just doesn't hook me in like other media does. to me it all just feels very surface level, which i think is the point to make it viable for mass appeal. but i started a fic for my friend just to write SOMETHING and found i enjoyed it. so i kept going. yelena and kate both have a lot of potential in terms of characterization and their banter is fun.

alright but remember: Couch Hedge and Frank had to be on a boat with around 7 (Nico, Piper, Percy, Leo, Annabeth, Hazel, And Jason) who all have ADHD...I have so many headcanons for this though...

• Leo getting really frusturated with one of his machine things and getting really emotional and sad and annoyed and stuff

• bonus points if it’s Frank who goes and talks to him about it

• Jason who’s hurt so often and can’t stop moving which agrivates Piper so much

• “Jason you’ll reopen your wounds!“

• “but I need to do /something/ Pipes!”

• Annabeth hyperfixating on something random and then everyone getting really into it

• Then they all have little copatitions and Hedge gets really into it too and Frank has to be the voice of reason.

• Percy getting these midnight thoughts and refusing to go back to sleep until he’s told every person on the ship his ideas or awful thoughts

• Hazel asking “huh” 15 times in a row until she gets distracted

• Nico needing to drink a whole pack of Mountain Dew before he falls asleep

• later when he and Will are together they both do it

• Piper hyperfixating on sword training

• Hazel almost not being able to keep up because Piper works best at night for some reason

• Piper sorry she’s my favorite needing to figure out how her cornucopia works

• Frank telling Hazel to come down for breakfast and then coming back an hour later to find her in the same position shaking her leg or something

• Hedge or Frank talking to one of them and then being interrupted because “look a squid” or “that reminds me”

• Annabeth trying to write or draw something but her mind going to fast so she accidentally skips some words or some things and her growling and having to start over again

• Percy taking watch but then completely forgetting to sleep but bombards Annabeth with random facts the next day

• Nico trying to tell someone something but his minds going so fast and he sees everything and then he forgets to say something. oh no now he has to restart, wait what’s that?

• Plus he mumbles

• Frank: “Hey Jason what time is it?”

• Jason: “What?”

• Frank: “What time is-“

• Jason: “12:31”

• Leo fidgeting so much he breaks things

• Leo feeling really, really bad about Calypso and he can’t stop feeling like I’ve abandoned her like everyone’s abandoned me and oh no oh no oh no

• Frank at first thinks they aren’t listening but Hedge explains about ADHD to the best he can

• and Frank having to assure that yes Jason loves her still and it’s alright

• Leo having a great idea for an invention and then forgetting it the next second

• Hedge being lenient about his bed time rules and whatnot

• Nico suddenly having a hyperfixation and he starts acting kinda how he was before the Bianca incident until he realizes and goes back into his shell

• Everyone being so surprised

• Hazel grinning from ear to ear after it and trying to reassure him it’s okay

• Nico not buying it

• Annabeth laughing And having a good time but then having a melt down about Luke and Tartarus the next

• Frank and Hedge just being completely supportive and patient for the entire thing
