#ok so i'm not american and i also can't form that coherent thoughts right now but #i think to a certain degree the reason a lot of people cant/won't get involved in stuff like this is money / lack of money #so many people are burnt out and some are working multiple jobs and still can't make ends meet #so joining a local organization and doing stuff like admin and going to meetings is probably the last thing they want to be thinking about #which can also lead to people who are more able-bodied and/or doing better financially being overrepresented in organizations and stuff?? #ehh anyway just food for thought! and as I said I'm not from USA

I know this post has a ton of reblog replies and I'm definitely not going to assume these tags are only about mine, but just to expand on some of my thoughts in case it's helpful clarification:

For what it's worth, in terms of my suggestions that mostly focus on exploring stuff outside of more mainstream systems (which I think is very important), this does not reflect my experience—though of course individual experiences here are going to vary. I'm sure this is in part due to who my day job puts me in proximity to, but some of the most uninvolved people I know are solidly middle class who have (I know this with certainty) some degree of disposable income and various energy-demanding hobbies. The most significant trait that stands out to me about this is not capacity/means but instead from my perspective seems to be centered in what seems like a lack of responsibility to others? So many people ultimately ID as apolitical or think of their community as mostly their immediate family and closest friends or believe that various political systems function in ways they unfortunately actually don't.

I really do recommend anyone who is interested and not already familiar look into material about mutual aid because I think it does a really good job of addressing some aspects of this—it's not about trying to give what we don't have, but instead about helping in ways we can and want to and also others helping us meet our needs.

ok as funny of a concept as this is, this could actually go somewhere kind of interesting.

for the sake of theoreticals, this actually starts in stage 0, where BOTH OF THEM have no rings.

For whatever reason, two instances of sonic.exe exist. Why? How? Who knows. Maybe they both share the same disc. Maybe they're two separate discs, and two copies of the program were created. Regardless, there are two individual instances of Rewrite in this world. They are not both the same entity.

Now that there's two of them, they're even more frightening. Now you have two of them to keep an eye out for. Sometimes one will target you while another is off tormenting Miles or Ekiduna, but when they're together, their energy bounces off each other.

They work together during games. Both of them act as one team, and they work together flawlessly. If you're playing tag, and one chases you into a maze, the other one is going to cut your escape route off. Always assume that if one sees you, they both know where you are.

They'll ramble at each other. Sometimes they'll just talk back and forth and talk about you right in front of your face. -> "Say, our friend could use some fun, よね？" "That's right! They look awfully boring and all closed up right now!" "Exactly! We should find a way to それらを引き裂く。" -> Sometimes they will have entire conversations in Japanese just to screw with you. "彼らは私たちのことを理解できると思いますか？" "もちろん違います...彼らは十分に賢くありません。" Sometimes their conversations are actually about really mundane things. They just know it freaks you out, not knowing what they're saying. "私はこの歌が大好きです。" "私もです！"

The first sign of conflict begins when Miles dies. A soul ring is created... But only one. Only one of the Sonics can get it. The one that does—whom I'll call Rewrite for simplicity's sake—gains a bit of self awareness and power. A general idea of what he wants; More souls. And now, he realizes this other Sonic is actually competition.

Rewrite's behavior actually shifts, but very very subtly. They aren't as cooperative towards Sonic, who notices, and becomes wary and suspicious of Rewrite. Still, both of them act jovial and friendly towards each other, like some kind of internal mind game they're playing against each other. You would never know something is going on between them.

Both of them continue playing games with you and trying to win over your attention. But, Rewrite becomes less cooperative, and even actively sabotages Sonic during one of the games at one point.

Somehow, Sonic gets a soul ring of his own. Or maybe Rewrite gets a second ring. And now, all of a sudden, the two are actively hostile towards each other. There's not enough souls to go around. There's only 4 souls, 4 vessels, and only one of them can reach godhood. They both see each other as obstacles.

To you... Both of them just disappear one day. Maybe the world would seem to stutter and break. The colors around you distort and flash.

And all of a sudden, a terrible digital screech echoes all around you, cutting through your very core. A terrible feeling hits you, like something just shattered into a million pieces. The world itself flickers and glitches out of existence.

For a brief moment, you're in an empty void. You think you're dead.

And then... The world flickers back on. The colors are back. The sun shines down on you... As if nothing happened.

When you see Sonic again, they have 3 rings.

And you don't see the second one ever again.

Guys, please, I beg you, stop backlashing Hugh Dancy after the recent con. I want him to keep attending conventions, not withdraw from them because he will be afraid to say anything. He had to already explain his "platonic love".

I'm not going to take credit for knowing what the author of the statement meant, but don't forget that Hugh Dancy is one big troll. He makes jokes about Hannibal very often. "Big splash" said about the season 3 finale before it aired, etc.???

I will only write how I understood Hugh Dancy's statement, not that he necessarily means this. Hugh himself compared the series to a romantic comedy. He doesn't say what fans want to hear (like Mads); he tries to rationalize Will's relationship with Hannibal.

An actor plays a given character, he doesn't have to see this character in the same way as fans. In my opinion, Mads Mikkelsen is the embodiment of both Hannibal's and fans' desires - yes, Hannibal and Will are married, they live together, they are murder husbands, have dogs. And what Hugh Dancy says doesn't entirely exclude the vision of Mads and the fans?

The fourth season was supposed to be about Will learning to truly accept himself, which at the same time must mean that he also learns to fully accept Hannibal and his love? Until the end of the third season, Will was not convinced that Hannibal was capable of love. Why shouldn't Will need time to accept his own feelings? Will knows he can't live with Hannibal, but he also knows he can't live without him. After finding out that Hannibal loves him, that's still a lot in my opinion?

This may be a pill hard to swallow, but Hannibal and Will hurt each other a lot in the past, so I guess that in Hugh's opinion it is more natural for the relationship to develop slowly rather than them to fuck nasty in the first second of the season 4.

oscar was sitting on the patio attached to their small cabin, poking the uncooperative fire. their campsite was full of young people, just like them, their hoots and hollers and fast pop music echoing throughout the area. parties were never oscar's ideal way of spending an otherwise perfect night, and, luckily, they weren't yn's. she was still inside, washing the salt water and sand from her hair--considering she was taking ages, oscar knew he'd be asked to help untangle the insistent strands later on. he'd help, but he didn't really want to.

since seeing yn at silverstone, something had felt... strange. he didn't dare to assume that it was strange in a bad way, or that, after two decades of knowing each other, they were falling out. but he didn't like the ambiguity either. he wished he could put his hand on the pulse of this change, learn its rhythms and find a way to ride the storm. however, it seemed that only he had noticed it. yn was still floating around, a dream in her hand and a smile on her face, oblivious to what was glaring for oscar.

their house was too small. he couldn't breathe. not air, anyway--yn's floral perfume wafted around, basically etching her name into his lungs. her clothes were found in every nook and cranny of the home, reminding him of her continuous presence. her humming--which she thought he couldn't hear, but he could--made its way into his mind, altering the way he thought and listened and even walked.

strange.

"hey," yn interrupted, stepping through the door onto the patio. she wore the funny capybara slippers he had bought her when they visited argentina, but apart from that, she looked too good for a random friday night. too good for just him to see. her hair hadn't been dried, sitting in natural curls and making her stripped quarter sleeve wet. her hands were holding two mugs, so her hairbrush was in between her teeth. oscar knew she'd ask. she dropped the brush onto the couch, "what are you thinking so hard about?"

his eyebrows furrowed. "do i look like i'm thinking hard?" he put the rod for the fire down, leaning back into his cushioned chair. this attempt at nonchalance was easily noticeable and a massive failure.

"you're always thinking," she commented, sitting down in the seat next to him. her hands naturally went to the ends of her hair, running through them. "you think a lot." seeing the look on oscar's face, she added, "not in a bad way."

his eyes stayed on her for a second longer before dropping it. "here," he said, extending his hand, "give me the brush. let me help." she shrugged, lightly chucking the hairbrush towards him. instead of going to sit in front of oscar, however, yn hopped up, walked over to the corner, and grabbed the rickety guitar she'd left there earlier.

"i'll compensate you with music," she stated, taking her place in front of him. oscar moved his legs to make space, and immediately yn's hands reached for the strings, playing a beautiful melody he found uncannily familiar. as he began to brush through her hair, oscar did his very best to be gentle--if he so much as pulled on one hair, the gorgeous music yn was playing would stop.

the brushing continued until the lyrics began, "all i knew, this morning when i woke, is i know something now, know something now, i didn't before," yn softly sang, so focused on her fingerpicking that she didn''t even notice oscar stopped brushing. just for a second. she kept going. "cause all i know is you said hello, and your eyes looked like coming home. all i know is a simple name, and everything has changed."

the song ended far too quickly. when it did, yn turned her head just a bit, making eye contact with oscar. her eyes were so wide, so vulnerable, that he almost felt bad that he'd listened to her sing. it was, again, strange. she sung for crowds of thousands, but was scared to for him?

everything really had to have changed, he thought.

yn had always had a crush on oscar. she wasn't afraid to admit it. in fact, it had lasted so long that the stage of denial that used to exist felt more like a hazy fever dream than a memory. she leaned into his touch too much, she saw him when she closed her eyes too much, she missed him too much. she tried being distant, she tried hinting, she tried. considering they were just friends, it hadn't worked.

yn had made her peace with only having oscar as a friend. but it was on days like this that she felt immense jealousy for the lucky girl who'd be able to see him fall asleep and hear his morning voice for the rest of her blessed days. right now, oscar was laying on their picnic blanket, flipping through a bukowski and occassionally taking a sip of his coffee. yn was supposed to be reading too--she planned this outing so she could binge read song of solomon. but right now, the convoluted story of milkman and guitar paled in comparison to the simple sight before her.

it was never difficult to know that oscar would never happen for her. it was always difficult for her to have to remind herself.

"can you pass the chocolate?" he asked, hazel eyes still glued to the pages. yn did as she was asked, doing so in a way that didn't intersect with her admiration of the man next to her. it was only when their hands brushed--a completely unimportant moment, one they had shared a million times over--that oscar's eyes left his novel and turned to yn. "what?"

yn pondered what to say, ashamed that she didn't feel ashamed. her best best friend caught her staring. she didn't mind. she should've. "have i ever told you how gorgeous you are?" she asked in a way that seemed genuinely shocked that she hadn't. "i feel like you should know."

his face softened, hands naturally lowering the book to shift his body towards her. "we don't usually talk like that," yn noted, running a hand through her hair in feigned casualness. "i know that. but it's true. and we say things that are true."

Sylus eyes flickered over the screen scanning every area in N109 Zone’s security cameras hoping in one of them he'll see you but for some reasons he can't.

The frustration is slowly creeping to his skin. He doesn't like the obvious fact that you left him with no explanation, that he is too late. That it took him long enough before giving you the assurance that you needed.

But most of all, he didn't like it that he inflicted such an amount of pain on you that you had to leave him quietly.

For every moment that passes without any news of you, Sylus can feel the anxiousness in him double in numbers. He won't stay still. He needs to find you now.

He grabbed his jacket and was about to get his keys when he heard footsteps approaching his directions.

He hoped that it was you. That you decided to finally come back and maybe hear him out. He quickened his steps but when he saw the red link on his wrists glowing, immediate disappointment consumed him.

“Sylus, I kept calling you but I was sent straight to voicemail," she said with a pout.

“MC, now is not a good time. Please take your leave." he coldly said.

It made her frown and he knew that she's not used to him saying no to her. But it had to be done. He didn't define a proper boundary before and now his life is a mess so even if it's late, he will do his best to straighten up his act.

Maybe if he did this the heavens would smile at him and make you go back to him.

“MC? I thought I'm Miss Hunter? Or Kitten? What happened? Did Mephisto throw that away by the window?"

He just stood there unmoving. Hearing her say that is an additional punch to the gut. Sylus didn't hide anything from you including this. And even if he can't control what he feels, he should've taken control of the things he says.

It's not right to call her those pet names when you exists and it must've been hell for you to hear that rolling off his tongue so naturally.

"I said leave.” he finally managed to get a word out of his mouth.

“Why? I thought we were spending time together to establish our connections? For us to get synced when using our evols?” She inquired with an obvious irritation in her face.

If it were before he lost you, he might have laughed and teased her about it and will add a little bit of sass to rile her up more.

But now? All he can think about is how insensitive he is. An asshole even.

No wonder she left.

No. He can't think like that. He needs you back and he will do everything to see you tonight.

Sylus took a deep breath. He can feel his brows twitching. Every second wasted here is a risk for your safety and what if you come back and see her? What would you think?

He doesn't know exactly why you left but he is not stupid to not know that it has something to do with Miss Hunter.

“I don't want to have any connections with you," Sylus answered.

“What do you mean?"

“See this link?" He asked and showed her his wrist.

“Yes. That connects us, right? You, me, grew from the same soil, kindred spirits like you said." She recounted their previous conversations.

“Good. Now I want us to get rid of it. I want you to get rid of it."

Sylus can see the gears in her head turning at every word he says. He knows he's asking for too much. She doesn't even remember cursing him but Sylus is desperate. He needs to find you and he needs this connection to finally be broken.

He can live without half his soul. He's been doing that for a while now, but he cannot live without you.

"Are you out of your mind?” She exclaimed, "I don't even know how we got tied together and now you want me to break it?”

Sylus is losing hope. He doesn't want her to remember. What's the point? It will hurt her, it will make all of this complicated … but he also needs to break free from this curse.

He will make this conversation quick. He needs to get this out of the way.

“Y/N is missing," he said. “She left me and I know it's because of my own stupidity, but it also has something to do with this bond, MC."

“I-I don't understand,"

“I will explain, but not now.” Sylus met her gaze making sure she understands every word he says, "A lot has happened in the past and it had something to do with a curse that binds me to you in every life we live. And you know what's the worst part? We're always doomed. We don't get to be really happy. I always end up dead and you end up killing me … grieving me.”

Recalling it all, it leaves a bitter taste in his tongue. Always cursed to die, to suffer. To love her but always end up dead. It drained him of hope, of joy, of life.

"It made me who I am today because of all those experiences. Living day to day just to wait for the time that I'll die. But that changed here. It changed because of Y/N. I get to experience the things that I thought I was desensitized of. She made me hope that I can break free of this cycle.”

Sylus held her hand. Begging.

“So please, think of it. Help me find a way to break this cycle."

With a single tear and a shaky voice he begged. “Please let me go."

"Let me go!” You screamed and tried to kick Luke and Kieran. "Get off me!”

"No can do, Madame. You need to go home. Boss Man is going crazy looking for you.” Kieran said. "He's flipping the base inside out just to find you.”

You groaned and rolled your eyes. “Ah so he does remember I exist? I was so close to being free and you just have to drag me back."

Indeed, you're so close to leaving the N109 Zone. Just one step and you're out of their radar but just before you can run, Mephisto’s blocking your way followed by Luke and Kieran.

“I know you've been having a hard time lately and the boss is really at fault. But come home for now. It's dangerous out here. He has a lot of enemies and they won't hesitate to use you to their advantage.” Luke said. “Plus, he has alerted everyone of his trusted alliances and the whole base to guard every entrance and exit in N109 Zone. Even if you manage to step outside you'll be dragged back home.”

“Fine. I guess I have no choice." All that running and hiding just to come back to base and it's not because you want to, but because you can't. You're sure that the moment you run, Mephisto is already tailing you and alerting everyone. Plus, you can't really outrun a bird.

“If you really want to leave, and you have enough reasons, Boss is not heartless enough to cage you. I know that you know it very well." Kieran said, his voice surprisingly gentle.

You didn't give him an answer. You just walked with them to their car and closed your eyes. You can hear the twins updating Sylus that you're with them.

Right … Once you get home, you have no choice but to face the inevitable. You planned to just leave him be and let him live his life with Miss Hunter, but he just has to find you when you don't want to be found.

You're too busy thinking of every possibile thing that you'll say to Sylus and didn't notice the time it took before the car stopped in front of his home. Luke and Kieran left you saying something about giving you privacy. You can't really tell. You're not paying much attention.

Just as you were stepping down from the car, you saw Miss Hunter. Anger bubbled in your chest. You're here being dragged back home with the thought that he's looking for you because he cares but then you're gonna see her here?

You were about to march back to the car when you saw the state that Miss Hunter is in. Her eyes are puffy and red. Looked like she cried. Once she saw you, she avoided your gaze and muttered a brief “I'm sorry," and left.

It was weird. What's happening?

Behind her you saw Sylus running for his life. Immediately, you thought that he's running after her. That's the natural order of things right?

“You're back, you're really back." His hard body slammed yours and you were engulfed in a tight hug. You can feel his erratic heartbeat and his shaking hands that cradle the back of your head.

“Are you okay? Are you hurt? Do you need anything?"

You looked at him. Your heart is splitting in two.

This is your Sylus. This is the Sylus you loved. The one who only looks at you. The one that loves you.

He's back.

But why now? Why now when you decided that you're done? You tear your gaze away from him.

“Sweetie, please say something." He begged, cupping your cheeks to make you look at him.

“I know I have not been a good boyfriend, but please hear me out, okay?” His voice breaks as he talks to you. You can hear fear, desperation and sadness in them. “I love you, I really do and I'm choosing you. I'm choosing us —”

A hiccup escaped from your lips. Since when did you start sobbing? You didn't know. But your tears are free flowing now. All the hurt that you kept hidden is now out in the open.

“But you left. You left me. You chose her. You always choose her." you said. Like a kid who lost her precious toy, you cried and hit Sylus's chest. “I know everything. You don't have to lie. Sweet Evil Trap, huh? Half of your soul? I know that. I read them in your journal."

“How can you tell me you love me when you have her? You were waiting for her. Not just once but in every lifetime." You sobbed as he pulled you to a hug. He didn't say a word. He just let you pour your heart out.

“All I wanted was one dinner with you. A time for just the two of us, but you're so ready to ditch me because she called. A-and I realized that no matter what you say, that no matter how much you tell me you love me, I can't really compete with her because you don't love me as much as her."

You tried to pull away from him but he just held you closer.

"That's not true, no, no, I love you. No one else. It's just complicated, darling. We have this bond —”

You snapped and pushed him away.

"That stupid bond again! How many times do I have to hear that? How many times do I have to be slapped by the fact that I do not have any connection with you? That you need to discard me as soon as possible to be with your soulmate!?”

He grabbed your wrist when you tried to walk away. “Listen to me first! Yes, there's a bond connecting us but I want it gone! AND IT'S NOT A FUCKING SOULMATE BOND IT'S A CURSE!"

He raised his voice at you and that made you shut up. He never yells at you. This is the first time. And you expect anger to fill his eyes but it's pure sadness and pleading that you give him a chance to tell his truth.

“Sylus,"

“It's a curse, alright? She cursed me to always have my soul tied to her. Yes we did have a past, it was beautifully tragic. She had to kill me. I had her kill me so I could save her. But it gets tiring over time. It gets tiring to always live just to die. I relived that life multiple times and I was not happy anymore.”

You see his tears flowing now. You want to wipe them away but you're stoned in place still trying to process what he said. So when he kissed your hand, you didn't pull away. You saw that it gave him a little relief so you let him continue.

“And then you came. You came and changed everything. For once, I wanted to be happy again. To be selfish again. To live for as long as I can just to be with you. I may have been a fool as of late, but that's the life that I was accustomed to.”

"Once she's here, I know it's a matter of time for me to die and I willingly throw myself in there. Because that's the fate I have to live. And this bond? This energy linkage makes sure that I hurt every time I try to defy my fate. But because of you, for once I have the desire to take control of my life again.”

You cannot stop crying now hearing all of that. He wipes your tears with his thumb and planted kisses on your temple. You mustered the courage to reach for his face and wipe the wetness off his cheeks. He leaned in to your touch savoring every moment.

“I talked to MC, I asked her to help me break the curse she bestowed upon me." He said kissing your palm. “I'm choosing you, sweetie. I'm choosing this life. So please, please let me make it up to you?"

You take a deep breath. You have decided.

"I love you. So, so much,” you gave him a quick kiss. "And thank you for choosing to live your life as your own.”

His hold on your hand tightens, "Baby, please.”

"But I still need to leave.” New waves of tears flowed from the both of you. "I know that you're telling me the truth and you're genuine, but the problem here is not just in your situation with MC but with the conflict on myself as well.”

"Sylus, I'm insecure and I'm having a hard time accepting that you're choosing me. In my head you're saying this because you're guilty. Because you're a good person and you can't bear to see me hurting so you're sacrificing your own happiness just to cater to me.” you said.

“Do you see the point I'm making? I acknowledge your bravery for choosing us, for choosing your happiness, but I also have to make this decision, Sylus. The hurt I felt won't be mended and healed just because you told me all of that. So I need to go away for some time. To heal, and find it in myself to trust you without any speck of doubt. You get me right? If I don't do this, I will just end up hurting you more because I am broken.”

“I need time, Sylus. Time to process and heal. And if by the time we see each other again and you're still feeling the same thing and I am as well, then maybe we'll go from there."

It was hard for Sylus but he knows that you need this. That you both need this. So despite not liking the idea of you leaving and the fear of the possibility that you won't be back, he nods his head. It was his own fault that you're thinking that way. He broke you and mere words are not enough to mend your heart.

He will live his life as his own. He will hope that you will keep him in your heart because he is sure that he won't be able to find anyone to love aside from you.

“I understand, darling." he replied, “I am so sorry for putting you through that, but please know that I love you and if ever you find it in your heart to come back to me, you know where to find me."

That same night, you packed your bags and left the N109 Zone. Sylus took you to Linkon. He remembered looking at your back as you walked away. Your shoulders obviously shaking as you cry.

That night was the night that Sylus felt the loneliest he has ever been. That night, Sylus wished that you'll find happiness and come back to him.

But if you don't?

Then he'll just be content and happy that even for a brief time it felt like he truly lived again.

Im really sick of being judged for using AI by people who boast about never having opened chatgpt. Most people aren't as bad as that one anon you got, but people are still incapable of seeing AI as a tool and instead see it as evil incarnate.

And no I don't even use it to write or make fanart because the prose it generates is truly awful and the art looks uncanny, but there's a million posts out there where the gist is basically "there is NO REASON EVER to use evil generative AI. The only time you should ever use ai is if you're using the Good AI that scientists use to cure cancer and stuff". Theres a decently popular post that basically sats that nobody without a college degree could possibly have the critical thinking and research skills needed to safely use chatgpt in any capacity, and its dangerous for anybody else to even try because it could say something false and you wouldn't even know!! Because we all know that that if you ever believe a lie, its impossible to learn the truth later /s. Oh, and the lies on the internet are fine because they're all natural, and at least somebody with a soul told them.

The culture on here has become so toxic that if I try to counter one of those posts with "hey I've found chatgpt to be pretty useful when it comes to fixing problems on my computer. Just tell it what you were doing and give it the error message, and it can get you on the right track faster than Google", people won't even attempt to figure out for themselves whether that's true (doing exactly what they accuse ai users of doing), and jump straight to calling me an idiot who's opinion doesn't count because I use chatgpt.

I'm not saying that it isn't shitty to fill up fandom tags with AI slop, and people have every right to be mad about that because it's beyond low effort and it sucks. Don't use it if you don't want to use it, but you're not *more qualified* to say what it can and can't do because you don't use it.
