HIIII and no worries, I can totally make a stamp tutorial! (⌒▜⌒)
I’ll be going through on how to make a normal image stamp and then a gif stamp. By following these two tutorials, you’ll be able to make stamps just like these!

PROGRAM USED ★ Ibispaint
STAMP TEMPLATE BY ★ AHMED-ART on Deviantart.
To start off, you must find an image you’d like to make into a stamp. Then, find a stamp template you think would pair well with your image. There are many different types of stamp templates out there and you can find a lot of them on Deviantart.
Make sure to read the terms of use for the template before using though! Here is the template I will be using for this tutorial.

Making stagnant stamps is easy once you got the steps down. You can use any art program and follow a similar process, but I only use Ibispaint to create mine.
First, create a canvas that is the same width and height as your stamp template. This one is 97x57. Most stamp templates have super similar proportions. If you are unsure of your stamps dimensions, you can create a 100x100 canvas then crop it around the stamp template once you have inserted it.
(Brush icon -> Canvas button -> Trim)
To get higher quality on the image inside your stamps: the closer the better! For example:

See how the first stamp’s image is rather far away? This makes the quality appear much lower. However, once you zoom in, it becomes higher! So I recommend finding images to create stamps out of that you are able to zoom in on so the quality can pop.
You’ll need to erase the parts of the image that don’t fit inside the stamp so it remains transparent around the border.
If you want to change the border color of the stamp, fill in the canvas with the color you want. Then, clip it to the stamp border. Lastly, go and set it on multiply. This will change the stamp borders color!

If you want to put a line texture on your stamp, you can utilize the ruler tool in Ibispaint to draw lines over your stamp.

I’ll add these every once and awhile to my stamps for fun. If you set the opacity of the lines to 10%, it’ll end up looking something like this.

And that’s the completed stamp!
Changing the border color and adding the line texture is completely optional, though it’s always fun to customize stamps!

PROGRAMS USED: Ibispaint, Ezgif
GIF stamps are a little trickier, but the process is not too difficult once you got it down!
First, find a gif that you would like to make into a stamp. I’ll be using this one!

if you want to have a different colored or customized stamp border, you must edit it on Ibispaint before like explained above.
You can combine the layers and save them transparently so it’ll end up looking something like this.

I made this one blue and added a gradient to it to match the gif I want to make into a stamp! You can add a gradient to the border by adding a darker color onto the multiply layer then using an airbrush to blend both colors together in the middle on both sides of the template.
Now, open up Ezgif and click the tab called Crop. Then, insert your stamp template there. The way I find the dimensions of the inside of the stamp is by cropping my way around the inside of the template.

The dimensions inside this template in particular are 91x51. This is what we will resize our gif to! Before we can do that, click the crop tab again at the top of the page to refresh it and then insert your gif. This isn’t required to do, but I like to crop my gifs a bit so they focus more on what is going on inside my stamp. Like I said before, the closer the better, as it will make the quality higher!

Now that we have our cropped gif, click the tab called resize at the bottom of the page. The dimensions of the inside of this stamp are 91x51, so insert those numbers in the width and height boxes to then resize the gif.

Next step is to click the overlay tab at the bottom. You will need to click the button that says “extend canvas size” so we have room to overlay the stamp template on top of the gif. After extending the size, upload the stamp template as an overlay where it says choose file.

On computer, after clicking upload image, you can just drag the stamp template over the gif and situate it. However, you can also figure out the number coordinations to fix the template ontop of the gif by messing around with it a bit. I make my graphics on my phone so I use the numbers instead of dragging.

Left means to move the template left or right depending on the numbers you insert. Top moves the template up or down. The left for this template is 42 and the top is 21. It takes a bit of messing around to find the exact numbers.
Now that the template is ontop of the gif, all that is left to do is to crop the space around it. Click the crop tab again at the bottom of the page and then click where it says “trim transparent pixels around the image.” This will easily crop the extra space around the stamp.

Click download to save your gif and that’s it! Here is the finished product!

The whole process for making gif stamps is always the same, the only things that can vary or change are the dimensions of the gif (so it can fit inside different templates) and the left/right.

“Steve told me you were a pilot,” I scoffed towards Sam. 
We were sitting at a table outside of a restaurant, waiting for our target to walk out. Steve and Nat were a few blocks over, waiting for word from us when we would be moving. 
Sam laughed, “I never said pilot.”
“Is it hard to fly?” I questioned with curiosity. 
“You get the hang of it after a while. And no, I will not teach you how to fly it,” Sam said. 
I faked pouted while I crossed my arms. “You’re no fun.”
He went silent only for a moment before he spoke, all jokes aside. “I know we just met and my opinions don’t matter but we’re bound to see him again. I just want to make sure you’re one hundred percent on taking him down. Like Steve said, he killed someone you all looked up to.” 
I nodded. “Can I be honest with you?” 
When Sam nodded, I continued. “I don’t know if it was because of how dark it was on the roof but when we saw each other, he acted like he didn’t even know me.”
“How long has it been?” 
“Uh-a few years. Maybe I look different or something?” I muttered. 
Our attention snapped towards the restaurant as our target walked out, Sam immediately dialing a number on his phone. I sat in silence, placing my sunglasses over my eyes and sat back in the chair. 
Maybe that was the reason why he didn’t recognize me that night. It was dark and had been a few years since we saw each other but yet, my heart still dropped when the realization hit that he didn’t recognize me. Was I that easy to forget?
“Let’s move,” Sam said while standing up.

“Steve, do we actually have a plan here or are we just kidnapping this guy?” I questioned from a spot in the middle of the back seat. 
We were driving along the highway, trying to make it to Shield Headquarters in time to stop the helicarriers. We had learned from Jasper Sitwell that Project Insight would be launching in less than twenty four hours and we suddenly found ourselves with a change of plans. 
Hydra’s plan for the helicarriers was to use them to eliminate millions of people who were any sort of threat to them. All thanks to Zola’s algorithm. 
“I’m thinking,” Steve said, not turning his attention towards me. 
His eyes were trained to the road ahead of us as Sam continued to drive. 
I had tried talking to Steve but he had ignored me; only saying that we would talk about this later. 
“Hydra doesn’t like leaks,” Sitwell informed us. 
“Then why don’t you try sticking a cork in it,” Sam snapped before changing lanes. 
“Insight is launching in sixteen hours,” Natasha pointed out leaning towards Steve, “We’re cutting it a little close here.” 
“I know. We’ll use him to bypass the DNA scans and access the helicarriers directly,” Steve directed to us. 
He finally looked over his shoulder to me, only briefly, and I gave him a small smile. The thought of my past with Soldat was still bothering him, I could tell by the way his jaw was clenched tight as he returned the smile. 
We'll talk later, I mouthed, promising that I would indulge more about my past to him. 
All he did was nod before looking out the front windshield again and I leaned against my seat noticing that Sitwell had an exasperated look on his face.
“Are you crazy? That is a terrible, terrible idea.” 
Suddenly, a loud thud from the top of the car sounded and I couldn’t help the small scream that left my throat as I watched Sitwell being pulled from the car window and tossed to the other side of the highway, immediately being hit by a semi. 
My eyes grew with horror as the quick flash of metal glimmered in front of me causing Natasha and I to jump towards the front of the car, her landing on Sam’s lap while I landed on Steve’s. Gunshots echoed through the small car and Steve wrapped his arms around my waist in a tight grip as he hastily put the car in park, causing the man to roll off the car. His metal fingers dragged along the pavement before coming to a stop a few feet away from us. 
“That’s him?” Steve whispered in my ear. 
My throat went dry, no words being able to come out so all I did was nod.
A car slammed into the back of ours, pushing it towards him. The Winter Soldier jumped over the hood of our car landing on top with a thud. Sam slammed on the brakes as my hand reached around for my gun and smiled in victory when I pulled it free. Aiming it to the roof of the car, I shot a few rounds. 
“Shit!” Sam screamed when the metal arm busted through the front windshield and ripped the wheel off with ease. 
It was Natasha’s turn to fire a few rounds and I looked over Steve’s shoulder as the soldier was riding on the hood of the car behind us. They slammed into us a few more times before Steve busted open the door, pulling us to safety as the car hit the median, rolling a few times and coming to a stop.
“Nat!” I bellowed as I watched her and Sam roll away from us while Steve and I were safely sitting on his shield that protected our fall. 
She gave me a small wave, indicating that they were alright, and Steve helped me to my feet and I watched his face distort in pain. 
“Are you hurt?” I asked. 
“I’m fine. You’re bleeding, though,” His fingers gently grazed over my forehead before showing me the blood that covered his hand. 
“I’ll live,” I shrugged and turned towards Sam and Nat who had caught up to us.  
We all watched as someone handed the soldier a grenade launcher and without a second thought, Steve pushed me out of the way, blocking the shot with his shield. 
“STEVE!” I screamed as I watched him fly off the bridge and straight through a bus. 
Suddenly, hundreds of bullets cascaded around us, Sam and Nat taking cover behind a van while I hid on the side of another car across the median. The bullets ricochet against the metal of cars and my body shivered when one flew past my face, my hair flowing with the wind. 
My eyes scanned my surroundings, trying to avoid any of the flying bullets, and after fighting with my consciousness, I ran out from behind the car and jumped over the median to the opposite way of traffic. Thankfully with everything going on, cars had decided to exit the freeway long before reaching us. 
Weaving my way in and out of the cars that were there, I dared to glance over my shoulder and watched in fear as he launched a grenade at the car in front of me. The heat of the fire engulfed me as the power of the blast sent me flying over the bridge, me landing somewhat safely on an abandoned car. 
“Fuck,” I groaned, feeling the wind get knocked out of me. 
I laid there for a split second as the pain slowly subsided, wondering why he still couldn’t recognize me. My heart was breaking, realizing that the memories of us might have meant nothing to him. 
“Now’s not the time to be a little bitch, Y/N.” I cursed to myself before rolling off of the car. 
I ran with a small limp, knife clenched tight in my hand, as I waved people away from the scene. 
“Get away! Get back!” I ordered. “It’s not safe!”
Seeing his shadow from the bridge above me, I came to a halt, aiming my gun towards him. I breathed as the bullet hit exactly where I wanted; his goggles. 
Not daring to stay back, I scurried over to a fallen bus as I fired a few more rounds behind me, not sure if it was a direct hit this time. I continued to run as fast as I could, hoping I would find Steve soon. 
“Fuck!” I screamed out in pain when I felt a bullet rip through my thigh, sending me plummeting to the hard ground. 
Biting back the tears, I slowly but hurriedly dragged my limp body over to the car in front of me. I leaned back against it, allowing the coldness of it to cool down my warm body. Glancing down to the wound in my leg, I let out a few large breaths before a guttural scream scratched its way out of my throat as I plunged my finger in the wound, fishing out the bullet with little to no ease. 
“Damn it, Steve. Where are you?!” I sobbed, tears brimming my eyes. 
If anyone saw me crying right now they would be appalled. Big, tough, Shield Agent, former FBI special ops, former swat member, was crying over a man? I wasn’t crying over a man, per say. I was crying at the thought that Steve was in fact right. If this truly was him, what I had known about Soldat was just a lie. 
Without warning, more rapid gunfire sounded in front of me and I watched almost in defeat as someone jumped out of the bus, my spirits lifting only a tad. 
“Steve!” I gasped slowly rising to my feet. 
He looked over his shoulder after blocking the shots with his shield and ran over towards me, immediately throwing my arm over his broad shoulders. 
“Are you alright?” He cooed. 
“For now,” I admitted. 
The bullets continued to bounce off the shield as Steve and I tried to find safety. 
“Stay close,” Steve ordered. 
Obeying, I gripped his shirt as we started making our way towards the men that were shooting at us. One of the men to my right fell to the ground, gun clattering away from him. Looking up to the overpass, I gave a small wave of thanks to Sam who had clearly been watching our backs. Steve knocked the last shooter to his feet before coming to my side again. We both looked up to Sam. 
“Go! I got this!” He yelled. 
Nodding, Steve wrapped an arm around my waist while mine snacked its way around his neck and I tried my best to hold the majority of my weight as we tried to gain our surroundings, looking for Natasha. 
“Over there!” I pointed when I saw the soldier had his gun aim at Natasha and was about to pull the trigger. 
Steve ran towards him and I watched as the two fought. Shield vs knife. My leg dragged behind me while I used the last bit of my strength to help Natasha off of the ground. 
“You’re shot,” she observed. 
“No shit,” I groaned, feeling the sudden rush of blood run down my leg. 
We both watched Steve as he tried to land punch after punch to the soldier, always coming up empty. We watched in fear as they continued to fight, Steve throwing the soldier over his shoulder, the mask rolling a few yards away. 
My body went rigid as he slowly turned around, his unmasked face meeting ours. Blood flooded in my ears while my mouth ran dry, trying to find the right words to say. 
He stood a few feet in front of me and he looked exactly the same. Those eyes that haunted my dream for months were suddenly in front of me and everything around me vanished. I wanted nothing more than to walk into his arms. 
“Soldat?” I breathed. 
“Bucky?” Steve questioned at the same time. 
I snapped my eyes over to him, my heart getting caught in my throat at the mention of that name. “Bucky? As in best friend who you thought fell off a train seventy years ago, Bucky?” 
“Y/N, this is Soldat?” Steve croaked, realizing that the man who had saved my life years ago was his best friend. 
“Who the hell is Bucky?” Soldat questioned Steve before his gaze softened on me. “How do you know me?” 
“You don’t remember me?” I blinked, surprised. “Russia. 2009. Zola.” 
Soldat’s eyes bounced back and forth between Steve and I. 
“Y/N,” he whispered, “I know that name.” 
I nodded, hoping he would remember, however, The Winter Soldier returned as fast as he had disappeared and raised his gun to shoot but Sam came flying in, literally, and knocked Bucky a few feet away from me. 
He quickly stood and stared at Steve, something unreadable coming across his features. He lifted the gun again but was stopped when Nat got a hold of the grenade launcher, sending one off in our direction. 
We all jumped out of the way in different directions, me rolling far away from Steve. 
“Y/N, watch out!” 
Hearing Steve’s voice, I looked behind me, my scream being muffled by a pair of leather gloves while my body was being dragged away from my friends. My wounded leg dragged along the ground as I tried to kick my captor with my good leg. 
My efforts were useless as my body was spun around, eyes locked with one of the gunmen working with Soldat. 
“Get in the van. Now.” 
I continued to fight against him. “Let me go!”
“He wants you,” the gunmen struggled against my punches and kicks. 
My fighting seized when I felt a blow to the back of my head causing my body to go limp against his chest.

could u do a behind the scenes of you gifing process? i would love to see how you do it
well, first and foremost, i gotta give credit where it's due. i've learned all i know about basic gifmaking because of this post made by @bobbiedebruyn, but especially @hayaosmiyazaki's tutorial. also @heybaetae's crop sizes helped to get rid of the transparent borders i was struggling with.
but my process... oh boy. i don't know how detailed you want this to be, because genuinely, explaining it sounds a little boring, but i'll give you a run through. like i said, better people have made much better tutorials if that's something you'd like to check out.
first, i need prompts because otherwise, finding a caption would be insanely difficult. so i find a scene i particularly like, or after watching an episode, i will check twitter and see what stuck out the most with people, or compilations of the character i'm most interested in, or a set just of a scene bc said character looked particularly good. but sometimes, i just want my favs doing silly dances with their son/mascot and that's how we begin.
then i use 4k video downloader+ to download the videos from youtube or dailymotion. if it's twitter videos or tiktok, then i use cobalt, and then mpv player to take the screencaps.
then we get to photoshop. to be honest, because there's a thing called actions, i don't have to do a lot, just load the screencaps, and use them. below, you have the sharpening settings. sharp, sharper and extra sharp. i rarely use sharp or extra sharp, and i usually stick with the middle option for most things tbh.

after that, it's the most interesting part. that's coloring. that's where you'll find out if things are going to be unicorns and rainbows or your worst nightmare.

i recently started using curves first. when i first started making gifs, i'd use the brightness setting (the first one) before anything else. but now i use curves (the third option) once in the auto mode to brighten everything up, and then a second time in the find dark & light colors option (it's not always that this is helpful. sometimes it washes the image off and it turns people's skin tones to awful tones of blue/green).

i get to levels next, usually (that's the second option in the single adjustments tab), and idk what to say about this other than i darken the shadows until i feel they have a nice contour going on for them.
next is selective color (second to last in the bottom line) and usually, on most sets, i only mess around with the red and yellow options.

the red-black usually heightens the shadows again and to me, makes things looks nicely contrasted. the yellow comes often because sometimes, their skintone can look way too yellow.
if i was giffing a scene and adding subtitles to it, i wouldn't change anything else, but since i plan on using this on that one project that is blocking me creatively from doing any of my many requests, we can play with colors a lot more. since the background here is heavy on the blue/cyan, we can use this adjustment to change colors.

notice how yok's skin tone looks ashy now? that's not pretty, so next, i use color balance to make it look a little less worse.

recently, i started using vibrance a lot too, and i tune up the saturation a little just bc it makes skin tones look a lot better than making them look pale af.

next it's credits. now, because i do this a lot, i want my gifsets to have a pattern, so if i were to write my credits every time i make a set, i would go insane having to remember and find the exact position, so i made myself another file where i have my credits in every cropping size. is this the best way to do this? probably not. but it does work for me, and that's enough, so i only need to duplicate layers to the file i'm working on.

then we get to convert it to frame timeline where i'll be able to save it as a gif. you can also set the frame delay and most people will agree that 0,05 seconds looks the best. however, if i have very few frames, i'll change it to 0,06 or 0,07.
now it's the moment we sit and cry, because tumblr only accepts gifs smaller than 10mb.

if you look down there, we're at a shameful 11,61 mb. that means i have two options. i either use lossy, that will make me lose some of the quality of the gif (in some cases, if you use up to 10, the gif doesn't look at all that bad, but i avoid using it if i can).

while posting this, though, i realized yok look kind of green, so i went back to the color balance again, and added some magenta to balance that that out.

i have no idea if this was enlightening or absolutely confusing. but pls know, it's very fun and kind of meditative to make these. ofc, it's time consuming, and sometimes can be frustrating, but it's honestly the best thing i picked up as a hobby in recent times.

You helped Hunter with opening the car doors and as you all saw the awful freefall that lay below you, you knew it was going to take a lot to get out of this situation in one piece.
“This
 is not ideal.” Tech commented.
“At least we’re not hanging under the car.” Wrecker offered.
“This isn’t much better.” You said before you ducked as a round of blaster fire headed in your direction.
“Echo, get this car moving.” Hunter instructed as the rest of you fired back.
“The explosions must’ve knocked out the power to the rail line.” Echo theorised irritably.
You moved away from the edge of the doors back to the middle of the car. “What if I just take down their railcar? It wouldn’t take long.” You suggested.
Tech shook his head. “I do not think that would be wise. There would be no guarantee that the resulting impact of you destroying that line would not affect the terminal that we need to get moving. And we’d still be stuck here whilst the Empire can easily send more reinforcements and-”
“Okay, fine do it your way.” You interrupted as you went back to focusing your fire on the Imperials.
“I can try to reboot the system, but I will need to plug directly into one of the terminals on the track.” Tech said.
Hunter addressed the rest of you, “You four, give us cover, Tech up top with me.”

Tech and Hunter moved to the next level of the railcar and Hunter gave his brother a boost up to the roof so he could climb onto the track.
As Tech got underway, Hunter opened the other set of doors and opened fire, particularly on any soldiers that were aiming for Tech.

“I am plugged in. Stand by.” Tech said into his comm as he got to work.

You all were doing a decent enough job at holding them back. They had more numbers, but your squad was more skilled, so you were managing okay.
That feeling of things being under control did not last long as Hunter heard the familiar sounds of ships coming your way. “We’ve got three ships inbound.”
You muttered a series of expletives as you scanned the sky around you for them.
“Where? I can’t see them.” Omega asked fearfully.
“Tech, we need power!” You urged into you comm as you could hear them drawing closer with each passing second.
You all took up positions to open fire on them, but it did very little. The ships got a round of shots away and you had to fight to stay balanced as the car shook with the impact.
Tech stared at his datapad and finally the screen turned green. He tapped his comm, “Echo, now!”
Upon Tech’s word, Echo plugged back in, and the railcar finally came back online.
“Tech, get your ass back here.” You hurried as you saw the ships getting ready to make another pass.
Tech unplugged and got himself across to the main track and started running but he could hear the ships getting nearer.  
Hunter concentrated his fire on the oncoming ships. He was able to clip one in the wing and it collided into another which he thought would be enough.
It wasn’t.
The third ship came speeding through and fired a series off shots that found their mark. You all stumbled inside the car as it violently shook and struggled against the onslaught of blaster fire.
The explosion flung Tech backwards, and he fell from the track onto the roof of the bottom half of the car. He tried to stand but the resulting shot had seen to it that the back of the railcar was tearing itself away from the track and as it titled backwards, he went with it. He managed to hook his grappling cable onto one of the grates, but he was stuck hanging over the abyss.

“Come on, Tech! Hurry!” Wrecker implored as he peered down the broken end of the railcar.
“I am climbing as fast as I can.” Tech replied with a grunt as he started to make his way up the cable, but the additional weight and well-placed rogue enemy blaster fire exacerbated the fragile state of the car and it lurched backwards, sending him further down the cable once more.
“Tech!” Omega cried as she saw him fall whilst Wrecker debated the best way to get down the sloped hallway.
“Why aren’t we moving?” Hunter asked Echo as he took refuge from the blaster fire.
“The car’s being ripped from the track.” Another harsh vibration sounded shook through it as he tried to get it moving.
“Wrecker, get him on board.” Hunter pressed, desperation seeping into his voice, before he opened fire on the soldiers again.
Wrecker made to step down, but the car dipped significantly.
“Don’t!” Tech yelled as he fell down even further. “Any shift in weight could send both of these cars over.”
You glanced behind you at Wrecker and Omega and made the call that the others could hold the troopers off. You needed to help Tech now. Channelling the Force, you focused on the point where the two hinges met but it was already fragile, and it would take a lot of energy and focus to keep them together since they were wanting to do anything but and the circumstances were hardly ideal to have that focus but you had to make it work. You could hear more ships coming but you ignored them, you didn’t care.
“You must sever the connection hinge. Now!” Tech instructed.
“Not until you’re up here.” Wrecker argued.
“Tech, I can hold them, just climb or let Wrecker-”
“You can’t keep them steady and wait for me to get up there with the time we have left.” Tech interrupted you as he saw the ships in the distance closing in again.
“She’s got it, Tech.” Wrecker said, doing his best to keep the distress out of his voice as he edged his way forward. As he did so, the cart swayed forward, and he glanced back at you.
“Go.” You said through gritted teeth as you focused on keeping both carts level, but each moment of blaster fire and Wrecker’s added weight were making it harder.
Tech fell a few more metres as the cart continued to pull itself away from the track. He looked around and he knew what he had to do. He needed you all to get away. He wasn’t wrong about this. You all would make it out. He just needed to take himself out of the equation. “There is no time.” He pulled out his blaster. “Plan 99.”
Your heart plummeted. Not that plan, any plan but that one.
Wrecker’s heart filled with dread.
Omega felt nothing but panic.
“Tech, please-” You broke off as you channelled more of your energy into keeping both carts stable, but another round of shots meant the car swung again. Your knees buckled and your hold faltered slightly.
“Don’t you do it, Tech.” Wrecker ordered as he tried to creep forward once more but the cart continued to protest against the strain.
Tech sighed before he accepted his next course of action. It was, in a way, a rather easy decision. Omega had once asked him if they were a family. His answer had been yes, and it was true. He just didn’t think he’d really said it enough, but he loved his family. And what do families do? They protect each other
 and that’s exactly what he was going to do. “When have we ever followed orders?” With that, he fired a shot through the glass of the railcar that met its mark, and the connection hinge was severed.
Even if you could hold it, you were out of time. The ships would make their pass at any second and you couldn’t prevent your section of the railcar reconnecting or else none of you would make it out of this.
And you hated it. You fucking hated it, but you were left with no choice; you dropped your hands, released your hold and watched in agony as Tech fell.
“No!” Wrecker cried out as he helplessly watched his brother fade from view and there was nothing he could do nothing to stop it.
“Tech!” Omega yelled.
The railcar reconnected to the track and sped away from the troopers on the opposite side.
Hunter grabbed Omega’s wrist as she moved closer to the open end of the car. “Omega-”
“Go back! Go back!” She said desperately, reaching out as if she could still grab him.
You felt numb. You couldn’t move. Every other noise around you sounded fuzzy. The skulking darkness that had been circling you since Saw Gerrera showed up was asking for a way in. It took every fibre of control to not let it. Hunter’s voice dragged you back to the current moment.
“The car’s going too fast.” Hunter said urgently.
“The system’s fried. I can’t stop it.” Echo replied, desperately trying to plug back in to do something to stop the rapid descent as the back wall of the station grew dangerously close.
You knew your help wouldn’t be fast enough either, and you felt Hunter’s internal conflict as his helmeted gaze darted between you and Omega. It’s Omega first, every time.
Hunter lunged for her just as the cart collided and smashed through the wall of the terminal.

Everything was grey, and dull and bleak.
If it wasn’t for the bitter scent of smoke in the air, she wouldn’t have been sure that she’d even opened her eyes at first.
Debris from the wreckage surrounded her.
And she ached. Her entire body burned with the pain it took to stand.
Tech. She needed to find Tech. He couldn’t be far. She called his name but only managed a few paces before she collapsed once more.
She tried to fight it, but it hurt too much, and the encroaching darkness was too tempting.
As the pain overwhelmed her, she didn’t have the strength to turn it away.

You groaned as you came to and immediately felt woozy as you attempted to sit up. Your hood had already come loose from the collision, but you pushed your mask down to catch your breath and breathe through the soreness radiating through your body.
You brushed the dirt off your face but felt something wet leaving a trail down your cheek. You took off your glove and touched it to find your fingertips covered in blood. You carefully followed the path of blood to the source and winced as you touched the oozing deep cut by your temple. Fighting the dizziness, you looked around to see the others pushing themselves up but then your eyes caught sight of an unmoving figure and your blood ran cold.
You forced yourself to stand, ignoring the shooting pain that coursed through your ankle, and staggered over to Omega. You dropped to your knees next to her and felt for a pulse, which thankfully you found but it was weak. “Omega, come on honey, open your eyes for me.” You begged her as her body shivered beneath your touch. You felt the others come by your side. You hung your head in relief when you saw her eyes flicker open, but she couldn’t stay awake, and you knew she was in bad shape.
“We have to get her out of here.” Hunter said, doing his best to not let the panic he felt upon seeing her like this come through.
Wrecker picked her up. “I got you, kid.”
“Incoming! Get to the Marauder!” Echo shouted as Imperial reinforcements arrived.
You picked up Omega’s bow and provided Wrecker and Omega cover fire as you all retreated back to your ship.

“Head to Ord Mantell. AZ can help her. Hurry!” Hunter instructed Echo as he made his way to the cockpit.
You watched Wrecker gently place her down on your bunk whilst Echo got the ship in the air and into hyperspace.
“You’re bleeding.” Hunter stated, worry etched in his voice as he brushed some of your hair back and caught sight of the mix of fresh and dried blood on your skin.
“I’m fine.” You said groggily as the fading adrenaline meant you had to work harder to fight against the light-headedness you were experiencing. You then noticed the awkward way he clutched his forearm and at the fact standing up straight appeared to cause him some issues. “Are you okay?”
Hunter didn’t answer directly. “Are any of us?”
You glanced around you and felt the anguish in everybody that you knew also resided in your own heart. “No, no we’re not.”
You focused on watching Omega’s chest rise and fall as a way to keep you grounded and willed the journey to go quickly.

“Cid, AZ, we need your help!” You shouted as you limped into the parlour.
Cid took in all of your various injured states and nodded, too taken aback to offer anything else.
AZ dropped the cleaning supplies he was using and flew over to Wrecker. “Follow me.” He led the way to Cid’s room.
“It is best if you leave, and I can work on her without distraction.” AZ instructed.
Neither of them really wanted to, but they didn’t want their presence to be a problem, so they did as he said.
“Where’s Goggles?” Cid asked as Hunter and Wrecker came back into the main parlour.
And it was that question that snapped you all out of what ever fatigued state of denial you were in.
You half collapsed into one of the booths and blinked back the angry, grief-stricken tears that threatened to escape.
Wrecker released a shaky breath and just shook his head as he sat down on one of the bar stools.
And Echo- now that he knew Omega was getting the medical attention she needed- just left the room. For the first time in his life, he needed the solitude.
“We- we lost him.” Hunter just about managed to say as the loss overwhelmed him and he sat down next to you. He welcomed the loving hold you took of his hand as you rested it in your lap and rubbed circles on the back of it and was grateful for tender way you pulled his head to rest on your shoulder. He ignored the slight discomfort the position caused him.
“I’ll give you guys some time alone.” Cid said quietly as she made her way towards the exit.
You all were in too much pain and too emotionally exhausted to notice the comm she took with her.

You’d lost track of how long you’d all spent waiting for AZ to come back with news so when he finally entered the room, the room was ripe with nervous tension. She had to be okay. She just had to be.
“AZ?” You said uneasily.
“Omega’s injuries were severe, but I have stabilised her and she should recover. It is just a matter of time of waiting for her to wake up.”
You all let out a collective breath of relief.
“Thank you.” Hunter said gratefully.
AZ nodded. “Now, what injuries of yours can I assist with?”
“(Y/N) has an actively bleeding head injury and a wounded ankle and Wrecker’s neck is causing him problems. Leave me for last.” Hunter said.
You knew disputing the order wouldn’t be helpful to anyone right now, so you let AZ come over to you first.

After you all were taken care of, AZ went back to monitor Omega and give you guys some space.
“What are we going to do now?” Wrecker asked as AZ left.
Hunter sighed deeply. “We have nothing to go on. No location, no leads. Nothing. And with Tech-” He broke off with a cough before continuing, “With Tech gone and Omega being hurt like that
” He paused for a moment as he considered his next words, “I can’t put her through something like this again. I can’t put any of you through it again. We’re done. We’ll find somewhere to settle.”
“What about Pabu?” Wrecker offered quietly. “She likes it, and we were going to settle there anyway
 right?”
Hunter looked to you and you nodded. “He gave us another chance. We should take it any way we can.” You said, clearing your throat as the pain of the loss threatened to overcome you.
“Alright.” Hunter said before he got to his feet. “I’m going to go wait until Omega wakes up.” He left the room.
“Wrecker, will you be okay for a moment?” You asked as you also stood.
Wrecker understood. “Go.”
You bowed your head in thanks and followed Hunter.

You paused by the doorway and studied the way he sat in the chair as he watched over Omega. His posture was tense, and his leg bounced anxiously. You knew he was barely keeping it together, but he was making himself because he was still the leader and had to be. But you wanted to give him a chance to let himself drop the appearance, if only for a moment.
“You don’t have to be strong right now. Not in front of me.” You walked around to the front of the seat and kneeled in front of him. You placed your hand on his cheek to turn his face towards you as he was keeping his eyes firmly on Omega. At your words, it looked like a weight just left his body and he let his head and shoulders hang lowly.
“That plan was never supposed to be used.” He uttered, his throat bobbing as the mask of composure started to drop.
Your heart ached as you felt the guilt and sorrow within him. You reached up and placed your arms around his neck and just held him close to you. I’m so sorry.
“I only got two of them.” Hunter mumbled into the crook of your neck as he met your embrace.
“Hmm?”
“The ships. There were three and I only got two of them. If I had just made sure, he wouldn’t have fallen from the track. The third got the shot away that killed him.”
You pulled away as you picked up on the way the typical rasp in his voice got lower and more uneven. You cupped his face in your hands and rubbed away the stray tears. “Hunter, you can’t do that to yourself.”
“I was supposed to look after us. By taking that mission, I put everyone in danger and look what happened.”
“You went because you knew it was the right thing to do. It gave us a last chance to get Crosshair back. What happened-” You took a second to draw a calming breath of your own. “What happened was cruel and unfair, but it wasn’t your fault. I know that guilt may never truly fade, I’ve been there, but you still have the rest of us. You still have me. Whenever you need a reminder that this was not your doing, I will be there, I promise.”
Hunter couldn’t help but search for any doubt or lies in your eyes and voice but found none. He pressed his lips into your palm and the sincerity and love in your tone served to remind him that he could do this. “We’ve lost two brothers.”
You brought your forehead to press against his and whispered understandingly, “I know.”
“I can’t lose anyone else.” He breathed against your lips, but he could feel himself starting to regain the composure he knew he was going to need for what was to come.  
You placed a delicate kiss to his mouth. “You won’t.” You caressed your thumb along his cheek before you stood behind him with your hands on his shoulders as you both waited for Omega to come back around.

“Hunter? (Y/N)?” Omega winced with a groan as her eyes opened once more and saw you both standing by her bedside, the worry on your faces now becoming relief.
“Hiya, kid.” Hunter said warmly as he brushed some of her hair back and reached for her hand.
She let Hunter support her back as she tried to sit up and took in the various bandages that graced both of you and her own fading pain prompted the reminder that the mission had gone very wrong. “What happened?”
Before either of you could reply, AZ whirred into the room and Hunter delicately laid her back down.
“Hello, Omega. I am relieved you are awake.” He scanned her. “You each sustained multiple injuries. However, you all will make a full recovery with proper treatment and rest.”
His reassurance helped calm the anxiety you were feeling over her injuries. You tenderly hugged her as Hunter assisted in getting her upright.
“You’re- You’re okay.” Wrecker said with relief as he came into the room. He crouched in front of her. “Don’t scare us like that again.” He put an arm around her in a fond embrace.
You passed her some water. “How do you feel?”
Omega took it from you but didn’t drink it. “I don’t know. The last thing I remember, we were in the railcar when
” She released a horrified gasp as the images came flooding back. “Where’s Tech?”
“Omega, Tech didn’t make it.” Hunter said, his voiced laced with sadness at having to tell her this again. Part of him had hoped she’d remember so she wouldn’t have to go re-experience the hurt of the loss.
“We have to go back! What if he’s hurt? He- He need us. Tell him, Wrecker. We can’t just leave him!” But Wrecker only looked back at her with nothing but sorrow on his face.
“Omega
” Your voice cracked slightly as you attempted to rest a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Omega hit your hand away. “No! Tech’s not gone! He- He can’t be!” Tears fell down her face.
Her reaction nearly broke you all over again.
“I- I know, kid.” Hunter said quietly as he moved to sit beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
Reliving it all got too much for Wrecker. He wiped his eyes and backed out of the room.
You glanced over your shoulder as Wrecker left and you knew Hunter needed to talk to Omega about what the rest of you had discussed. “I’ll give you two a minute.” You said, your voice still thick with emotion.

“Why did Tech do that?” Omega said tearfully after you and Wrecker had left. She wiped her eyes. “He didn’t let us save him.”
“He knew we were out of time.” Hunter explained as simply as he could. “Tech put the squad ahead of himself. He made a sacrifice, Omega, and we’re not gonna waste it.”
“What does that mean?”
“The galaxy has changed, and so have we. It’s time to put being soldiers behind us for good. The three of us think Pabu could be a good place to make a new life for ourselves. And the rest of it, well, we can figure out along the way. Omega, is that something you want?”
She thought it through for a moment before she nodded.
“Then that’s what we’ll do.” Hunter said. This would work. You all could heal together and make it out okay. It would get better.

You pulled yourself onto the bar stool next to the one Wrecker was sitting on. “What can I do?” You asked caringly. You knew there was nothing you could say that would immediately ease the pain of grief, but if there was anything you could do to help, you would.
“Just being here is fine.” Wrecker mumbled roughly as he kept his emotions at bay.
You rested your hand on top of his- an act he gently mirrored with his own before he removed his hand. You know I love you, right? It was a sentiment you realised you had not shared enough with the others and you didn’t want that to continue anymore.
Wrecker breathed deeply. “I love you too
 and it’s not just because you’re with Hunter. You became a part of this family long before that.”
The genuine and heartfelt way he said that touched you deeply. You swallowed the lump that formed in your throat. “It’s a pretty good family to have.”
“Tech would’ve been able to tell you the exact date, I’m sure he kept a record of it.” Wrecker said with a sad chuckle.
You managed a half smile at his words. “That would be in character for him.”
A natural quiet descended on the two of you.
“Did we miss something? Did we miss a way to save him?” Wrecker asked into the silence.
The question was one you had been torturing yourself with ever since the ship had left Eriadu. “What we needed was time, and- and Tech knew we were out of it by that point.”
“Yeah.” Wrecker released a dejected sigh. “He always was the smart one.”

“Here. These are on the house.” Cid gifted you both a drink.
“It won’t help.” Wrecker said as he nudged it out the way.
You did the same.
“I’m sorry about Goggles. I always liked him.” Cid said sympathetically.
“Yeah. Us too.” Wrecker said with a crestfallen sigh.
Despite her words, you, and Wrecker both noticed the way she kept avoiding eye contact with both of you.
“What’s with you?” Wrecker asked.
Cid gulped, “You know, I tried to look out for you guys. But you got too much heat on you. And you brought it here to my place of business. I had to make the best of a bad situation.”
You picked up on her awkwardness and agitation. “Cid, what did you do?” You asked as a hollow pit of dread sat heavy in your stomach.
“I’m sorry.” That was all she said before she looked to the door.
You and Wrecker followed her stare, and a squadron of Imperial troopers came marching through the door with their blasters drawn.
You both instinctively reached for your blasters, but both of yours had been lost in the crash.
Wrecker was unaffected by the first stun blast that contacted him, and he charged at the group, but his neck brace severely limited his mobility.
You dodged the stun shot that was sent your way and realised keeping up a pretence would be pointless now. You threw your vibroblade into the shoulder of the closest threat to you before you Force-pushed multiple troopers against the back wall and used your ally to snap the wrists of others that aimed for you.
“Stop!”
You turned in the direction of the voice to see Wrecker half-conscious, kneeling on the floor with his wrists bound and a trooper holding a blaster to his head whilst the squad regrouped and pointed their weapons at you.
Your jaw tightened but you did as he ordered and let them take you. A kick to the backs of your knees brought you down. They took your comm off you and, judging by the way the cuffs he put on you were slightly different to Wrecker’s, they’d come prepared. You weren’t going to have an easy way out.
“She was right, Sir. This is the Jedi.” One of the troopers that was holding you down by the top of your shoulder said to Doctor Hemlock as he came through the crowd to stand at the front.
You glanced up at the man you now recognised as Doctor Hemlock who was staring down at you.
“Wonderful.”

He’d acted quickly when he knew the Empire was here and he’d kept Omega safe. That’s what mattered first. She was in the mining tunnels and on her way to Echo. The Empire wouldn’t find her. He could now focus on getting you and Wrecker back.
Hunter rounded the corner to the main parlour with his blaster drawn but his heart stopped at the sight. Both you and Wrecker were cuffed and being held at gunpoint by Imperials and Hemlock was right in the middle. He advanced forward a few paces, but the troopers focused their blasters on him.
“That’s not very strategic, Hunter.” Hemlock cautioned. “You don’t need to use your enhanced senses to know you’re outnumbered.” He turned his attention to the owner of the parlour. “The Empire thanks you for your assistance. Our business is done. Leave.”
“You piece of shit.” You hissed as you fought against the grip the troopers had on you as you watched her take the case of credits and walk out the door.
“Please consider your next move very carefully. I would hate for this to end poorly for all of you.” Hemlock advised. He paused and studied your handiwork on the wounded that were now being evacuated from the building. “Such an exquisite creature.” He brushed the fingers of his ungloved hand across your cheek. “You chose well.” He complimented the Sergeant.
You recoiled from his touch.
“Don’t fucking touch her.” Hunter snarled.
Hemlock ignored the clone for now and kept his attention on you. He lifted your cuffs by the middle. “How can someone so powerful be limited so easily?” He dropped your wrists. “Please. Do me the honour of just trying to use it.”
You stared him down in refusal.
“Or both of them will be killed.” Hemlock said simply.
You gritted your teeth and hoped the message behind your eyes as you looked to Hunter was clear- he had to keep it together.
Hunter didn’t understand what was about to happen. You were telling him to stay calm and remain where he was, but he didn’t fully know why. What was Hemlock talking about?
You braced yourself as you did as Hemlock said. You were met with the expected electric current that shot through your system. You didn’t cry out despite the pain; you didn’t want to give him the satisfaction, but you couldn’t help but fall forward on all fours. You had to take a few deep breaths before kneeling upright once more. The binds themselves had also grown tighter.
“Incredible.” Hemlock mused. “Years spent studying your people and the Force and we have barely scratched the surface of understanding you, yet science still finds ways to prove itself. Go again.”
“No!” Hunter protested. Watching you do that once was bad enough and you were hiding it well, but he knew you were in pain, and he couldn’t let it continue. Instinct took over and he moved a half step closer to you, but the line of blasters stopped him from advancing.
“How touching.” Hemlock mocked, internally thrilled that the reaction from both of you had been as he predicted. It made the process far more enjoyable. “But if you value your fellow clone’s life, you will not stop this.”
“I can- I can handle it.” You said breathlessly as a way reassure Hunter and stop him from doing anything reckless- you knew this torture was as much for him as it was for you, and you needed him alive. But you couldn’t prevent the pained grunt that left your mouth this time and you fell forward once more, and the cuffs pinched the skin of your wrists.
“Again.” Hemlock ordered you.
“Don’t.” Hunter pleaded, but he wasn’t talking to Hemlock, he was looking at you. This wasn’t something you should have to handle. There had to be another way. He should be the one to take that pain.
Whatever it required to keep them both alive. “It’s okay.” You said, your voice hoarse. You did it again and an audible cry fell from your lips.
Hemlock waited until you sat up. “Again.” He demanded.
You inhaled with a wince and did as he said.
The cycle continued until Hemlock said otherwise.

Hunter wanted to stop it. Despite your words, his resolve was weakening by the second. The only thing stopping him from doing something was that Wrecker’s life was also involved here but he couldn’t stand that all he could do was watch you go through this torment over and over again.
Wrecker struggled against his captors as he watched, but they were too many securing him.
“Stop.” Hunter finally growled at Hemlock after this last round saw to it that you were barely able to right yourself. He saw your arms give out from beneath you with the effort it took to remove yourself from the ground. And from the way you were trying to flex them, he guessed you were losing feeling in your fingers.
Hemlock smirked, “I am merely giving her a preview of what’s to come. I need to know what it’ll take to crush someone like her.”
He kneeled beside your crumpled body and spoke into your ear. “I will look forward to breaking you.” He kept eye-contact Hunter.
Hunter was clenching his jaw so hard that his teeth hurt. The thought sickened him.
You believed him. That quiet, menacing tone in his voice told you he truly meant what he was saying and
 and that brought out a level of fear you’d never felt before. But you wouldn’t let that happen yet. Your arms trembled as you braced your palms against the floor and you panted through the throbbing discomfort in your body, but you managed to get back to a kneeling position. In a way, you were also grateful for the harsh but secure hold the troopers resumed since it meant you weren’t required to keep yourself stable.
“Such resolve.” Hemlock whispered to you. “And now onto the other matter at hand.” He said breezily as he stood upright once more and addressed Hunter. “Here’s how this is going to go. You will lower your blaster and hand over Omega. And I will allow you to keep breathing.”
“Omega’s not going anywhere with you.”
The fierce protectiveness of the clone brought out a soft snicker from Hemlock. “Oh. Well, who knew clones are so paternal? Fascinating.”
To hear that observation come from that man had bile rising in your throat.
“I was saddened to learn of your friend’s demise. What was his name? Oh, yes. Tech.” Hemlock taunted cruelly.
“Don’t fucking say his name.” You spat as you strained against your captors. An act Wrecker joined you on.
Hemlock merely reached his hand out to one of the soldiers and took the object. “I’m afraid this was all I could salvage. Consider it a gift.” He tossed the broken goggles across the room to Hunter’s feet.
Your strength was returning and at Hemlock’s actions, you attempted to lunge for him, but the troopers acted quickly and, with a strong grip on your shoulders, they forced you back to your knees.
Hemlock was unphased and stepped forward a few paces. “To lose one of your own, it must weigh heavily on you as their leader.” He signalled back to his men who pressed their blasters against the back of yours and Wreckers heads. “And if you don’t lower the blaster now, you will lose more.”
Hunter looked past Hemlock and you and Wrecker.
Wrecker did the best he could do to shake his head.
“Hunter, n-” The sharp tap of a blaster interrupted you.
He wasn’t losing any anyone else. And with Omega gone, the rest of you could find a way out.
You helplessly watched as Hunter put the blaster down and delicately picked up and studied Tech’s goggles.
“Wise decision.” Hemlock praised before he waved his men forward.
Hunter let them pass and allowed himself to be cuffed and brought over to join the two of you.
You and Wrecker were pulled to your feet, and you attempted to wriggle out of their grip, but they wouldn’t give.
“Sir, the girl’s not in the office.” The troopers informed Hemlock as they came back out.
You and Wrecker glanced at Hunter who subtly nodded at the two of you.
You and Wrecker shared a small breath of relief. As long as she was safe, you could manage whatever came next.
“She’s long gone. Like I said, Omega’s not going anywhere with you.” Hunter said to Hemlock.
Hemlock merely hummed. “We’ll see.”
The three of you were escorted out but what you couldn’t work out was why you were still being physically restrained whilst the other two got to walk normally.

Ord Mantell was in chaos.
People were screaming and clamouring to get out of the way of the Imperial soldiers and AT-AT walkers that were making their presence known.
 A series of warning blaster fire halted you all from continuing. You turned in the direction of the fire and your stomach dropped as you saw who was on an upper platform staring down at the rest of you. No, she wasn’t supposed to be here.
“Lower your weapons.” Hemlock instructed his soldiers before he called over to the young girl, “Hello, Omega. We were just talking about you.”
Omega kept her bow activated. “Let them go!”
“Omega, run!” Hunter shouted before he got held back by one of the troopers.
“I won’t let them take you.”
“How about an exchange? If you come with me, your friends will live.” Hemlock negotiated.
“You fucking bastard.” You seethed as you pulled against the hands that were holding the upper part of your arms.
“I don’t believe you.” Omega replied suspiciously.
“I did not come here for them, Omega. I came to return you to Nala Se. She needs your help.”
“He’s lying. They killed the Kaminoans.” Hunter countered.
“Incorrect. Nala Se is alive and well care for.” Hemlock retorted before he returned his attention to the girl. “As you will be.”
“I’m not going with you.” Omega affirmed but she didn’t sense the clone trooper behind her.
“Omega, look out!” You shouted but it was too late.
All of you watched with devastation as Omega met the receiving end of a stun shot and her limp body got picked up by the trooper.
“Scour the city. When you find the third clone, send them back to Eriadu. Governor Tarkin wishes to question you personally.” Hemlock walked over to you. “But you
” He smiled coldly at you. “Your use lies elsewhere.”
Your heart shattered as you realised what that meant.
Hunter’s head turned sharply to look from Hemlock to you and the pained panic on your face mirrored his own. He reacted instantly and ran for you, but he didn’t make it far before the troopers separating the two of you got in the way and shoved him back. He continued to try and fight his way through, but the cuffs limited his effectiveness and a strong punch to his stomach winded him and he hunched over in discomfort. He took a few deep breaths and wriggled free of the two soldiers that had come to bring him back in and tried again but this time he was met with a kick to his already wounded torso.
You were shouting unintelligible sounds of protest as you writhed and struggled against the strong hands holding you back and attempting to drag you away. You managed to stamp on the foot on one of your captors and elbow one of the others in the stomach and their grip faltered.
But they regrouped quickly.
A swift hit of a blaster on your still wounded head had you blinking away black dots. You could do nothing to stop the severe grip one trooper took on the back of your neck, forcing you to hunch over whilst the others grabbed your arms and got ready to take you away.
“Let them.” Hemlock held a hand up to stop the actions of his soldiers. It would only help with his process. Let the two of you have the chance at a last moment together dictated by him and stopped by him. The emotional turmoil it would create would play beautifully.
Still half-dazed, when the troopers let you go, you were left with no choice but to fall to the ground.
Hunter shoved past the line of soldiers and knelt before you. As gently as he could manage, he placed his hands under your chin to push your head up. “I love you.” Hunter choked out.
Hemlock signalled his men.
You wanted to say so much more but you didn’t have the time. “I love you too.” You replied, your voice cracking. Your lips met for the briefest of moments but that was all you managed before you got hauled to your feet and they yanked you away from him.
As he watched your fading figure, Hunter didn’t have the strength to fight the troopers that lifted him to his feet and led him and Wrecker in the opposite direction.

The only thing that was keeping you from giving into the pounding agony that was bouncing around your skull was that Omega was now being carried alongside you. You would hang on for her.
“What are we doing?” One of the remaining troopers asked as he saw the group split off.
“Doctor Hemlock wants her getting a separate shuttle in case the others get away and come looking for them.” The clone in charge of the group answered.
“Please.” You begged with a broken breath as you saw the group separate and Hemlock disappeared down the street with Omega. “Just let me go with her. I won’t-” The butt of a blaster meeting your cheekbone shut you up and you groaned with the stinging pain it left you. Your vision kept blurring in and out of focus.
“Quiet! Keep walking!” The trooper ordered you.
You had so little resolve left. Hopelessness had overwhelmed you, so you followed their orders, your feet dragging as they led you in the direction of wherever the other shuttle was.

Hunter could feel the fight leaving him as he and Wrecker were escorted to the shuttle that would take them to Eriadu. So much of what he cared about had been ripped from him and now the remaining people in his life that he loved would pay the price for his failure. The echoes of explosions and blaster fire grabbed his attention, and he looked up to see a walker come stomping round the corner but it’s aim was directed towards the Imperials.
“Echo?” Wrecker asked.
“Gotta be Echo.” Hunter agreed as he dug deep for the energy to fight back.
Wrecker broke his cuffs open on the top of his knee and Hunter landed a kick to the trooper behind him to give Wrecker time to undo his cuffs.
The two of them worked on taking care of the remaining troopers and stole their blasters and fired on the clones that were aiming for Echo’s walker. What they couldn’t stop however, was the next walker that rounded the corner that fired on Echo’s.
Echo went to the hatch and jumped out of the walker just as it collapsed to the ground.
“Where are the other two?” Echo asked as he emerged from the downed walker with AZ and took cover with his brothers.
“That Imperial took them.” Wrecker answered.
“It was Hemlock. We’ve got to stop his ship from leaving.” Hunter said.
The three of them scanned for ways out but reinforcements were arriving from both sides. It was then though that Hunter noticed a platform that ran above the landing pad where Hemlock’s shuttle must be and the group of them made their way up to it, avoiding enemy fire as they did so.

Hunter ran ahead to the edge of the platform and could only watch with despair and agony as Hemlock’s shuttle took off. He paid no attention to the surrounding sounds of blaster fire; he couldn’t turn his gaze away from the departing ship.
Half his life was on that ship.
Hell, his heart was on that ship.
And he couldn’t stop it.
He couldn’t stop any of it.
And it broke something in him.
It killed him.
Echo’s voice dragged him back.
“Hunter, we have to go!”
Hunter managed to find his voice. “Get to the Marauder!” He ordered and the three of them started to run once more.

They made it to their ship and managed to take off but there was no relief in the feeling. The air was thick with grief and loss.
“There was no way to track Hemlock’s ship. He could’ve taken them anywhere.” Echo said forlornly from the cockpit.
Hunter glanced back to where Omega’s room was, then he saw Wrecker cradling Tech’s goggles. Then he found himself fiddling with the cord around his neck and his fingertips grazed the small symbol attached to it. He’d failed so many people. Everything he’d promised both to himself and to his squad had fallen apart so quickly before his eyes and he couldn’t do anything to stop it. Well, no more. He refused to let this be how things ended. “We are going to get them back.” He said darkly. “And we don’t stop searching until we do.”

The shuttle you were being taken to was on the other side of the city, but you had finally arrived.
The ramp lowered and you didn’t resist them as they nudged you towards it.
You walked a couple paces but then you spotted the smoke bomb thrown at your feet.
Fog engulfed you.
You were set free but all you registered were the panicked shouts and shots from blasters around you.
The Imperials didn’t last long, in rapid succession you heard the thud of each body that had brought you here.
Then everything went quiet.
A hand from behind grabbed your shoulder.
You reacted quickly and swerved out of the grip and whipped around to land a punch wherever you could reach. You heard the satisfying thump of your fists meeting bone and the figure backed away a few paces.
You readied yourself for the next attack, but it didn’t come.
“That’s a hell of a punch you’ve got. Would hate to see what you’re like when you don’t have cuffs on you.”
You recognised that voice and you pushed the faintness away and peered through the smoke at the figure approaching you, sniper rifle on her shoulder as she massaged her jaw. You relaxed your stance. “Lyra?”
“Hey, stranger.” She greeted you as she began picking the locks of your cuffs.
“What are you doing here?” You massaged your wrists as your binds came loose and you felt the Force start to flow through you again, but it felt
 tainted. You searched in the Force around you for any sign of them, but there was nothing there. You really wished that meant they’d found a way out and escaped safely but everything felt disconnected. You weren’t yourself; something had shifted, and you weren’t sure if you would be able to right yourself anymore.
“Rescuing you, kinda thought that much was obvious. Where are the others?”
You felt your throat tighten as you searched for the words, but you couldn’t find them, and your stomach turned with both the aching in your head and your heart. You braced your hands on your knees and threw up.
The smoke had cleared, and Lyra was able to take you in properly. Your ankle was strapped, the skin on your cheek had broken and a purple bruise was starting to take shape and the stitches by your temple were starting to tear open as specks of blood escape the wound. It also wasn’t just your obvious injuries she saw- your body looked heavy with defeat. “What do you need?” She asked kindly.
“I need a ship.” You rasped as you wiped your mouth and stood up.
“You have one.” Lyra pointed to the shuttle right next to you.
“No. I wouldn’t get out of the system in that. They’d find me immediately.” You reached down and took a blaster from one of the unconscious bodies.
“So, you need something off the grid that would not pass any standardised mechanical check?”
“Add in an already scrambled signature and yeah pretty much.” You inhaled deeply as another wave of nausea hit you.
“I know someone who owes me a favour and makes a living from selling ships like that. Can’t promise we’ll get very far but it could work.” She paused as she saw the way you still swayed on your feet. “Are you sure you’re up for that? I can go myself and meet-”
“I’m not getting separated from anyone else.” You said sharply before you straightened your shoulders. “Lead the way.”

You waited as Lyra squared up deal and studied your way out of here. The ship did look like a hunk of scrap metal, but it would get you out unnoticed and that’s all that mattered.
“Okay, let’s go.” Lyra said as she came over to you.
You sighed, “Lyra, thank you. For all of this. But you can’t come with me.”
Lyra placed her hands on hips in defiance. “I have nothing here, they wrecked my stall and raided the other stores. I’m going with you. At the very least, you need someone to treat that serious concussion properly.”
Dealing with your injuries were way down on your priority list. You could feel it creeping in again and you weren’t sure you had the strength to oppose it anymore. “What I am
 what I’m going to do, you shouldn’t be around for. I can’t-”
“Can’t be worse than what I’ve seen already. Come on, we gotta get going.” She said with finality as she walked past you and up the ramp to the ship.
On her head be it. You thought to yourself as you followed her up and she got the ship in the air.

Omega walked out the Imperial shuttle with a deep sense of unease. She recognised Mount Tantiss and the presence of Nala Se troubled her. She feared for what this doctor had planned for her.
“Have Emerie see to her injuries.” Hemlock ordered the assistant that came to greet them.
Omega didn’t follow the woman, she just looked to Nala Se. “Why did they bring me here?” She didn’t get to hear a reply for the trooper behind her prodded her back to make her go inside.
Hemlock addressed the Kaminoan after Omega was out of earshot. “Your prime minister mentioned you had an attachment to the young clone, so I’ve returned her to you. Perhaps now, you will reconsider working on the Emperor’s project.”
“What he seeks is not possible.” Nale Se argued.
“Make it possible. If you refuse or fail, Omega will suffer the consequences.” Hemlock threatened.
Satisfied that his threat had landed effectively, he waved the Kaminoan away and went to go inside but a clone voice stopped him.
“Sir, we’ve heard reports on an attack on the squad escorting the Jedi and the shuttle never checked in. It would seem she escaped.”
Hemlock had to hide his surprise. Clearly something had happened he had not anticipated. “That is
 unfortunate, but we’ll make do
 for now.”

Omega was led into a lab and what she saw horrified her. There were tubes and rows of unconscious clones strapped down onto testing tables. Then her eyes caught sight of someone she knew. “Crosshair!”
She ran over to him and tried to rouse him, “Crosshair? Crosshair?” He showed no signs of movement. She heard the sound of oncoming footsteps and turned to see the woman that must be ‘Emerie’ standing behind her.
“You must be Omega.” Emerie said.
“What did you do to Crosshair?” She asked angrily.
“He’s recovering. I tried to warn him what would happen if he did not cooperate with the doctor.”
“I want to talk to Nala Se.”
“Ironic. You trust the Kaminoan, but not me.”
“I don’t know you.”
“No?” Emerie kneeled in front of the young girl and removed her glasses. “You might know me better than you think.”
Omega furrowed her brow.
“We’re sisters, Omega.”

Lyra finished tending to your head and cheek before she went to the cockpit to give you some time.
As you stared down the corridor and out into the blue clouds of hyperspace, you gained a true moment of clarity. The galaxy and the Empire had taken much from you, but you’d always been able to push through.
In a strange way, you’d even thought you were better off because of where you’d ended up. You had gained a greater sense of purpose, you had room to properly care for the people in your life, you had a family.
But now they’d gone too far. Too much had been taken from you, your family, from the people you loved, and you weren’t going to let it happen anymore. You couldn’t let it happen anymore.
You weren’t as strong as you’d thought you were. Something gets cracked enough times enough times, it’s bound to break.
You were done hiding.
Your arms fell to your sides and your fists clenched and the darkness you had been running from since Eriadu came flooding back. Only this time, this time you weren’t going to fight against it.
This time.
This time, you embraced it.

OHC Day Six: Role Swap AU
But I'm Just A Tailor

The person we'll be displacing from their canon today is my beloved fashion icon, Akaito Coraline. And it all started with this gif:

Look at that lacing! At first, I was just joking about how Cora would be obsessing over that detail, and care less about how she was damn near being sliced up by Mihawk then about finding out who made that coat for him.
But then it came to me.
What if she made it?
I hereby present to you... Akaito Coraline - Cross Guild AU
Normally, I don't give warnings on the specifics of spoilers after OPLA (unless they're also spoilers for more recent animanga happenings), but in this case:
This post will include spoilers on the arcs that OPLA Season 2 will be based on! If you want to avoid those, click away now!
This also means that the exact happenings on how this AU would play out will necessarily change once season 2 is out, but for now, I'll be working with what I know about Alabasta.
SO!
The first divergence is that, instead of ending up in the East Blue after fleeing from Germa, Cora runs straight into Sir Crocodile's arms. And Crocodile is no fool. He's a very informed man, so he realized who Cora is very quickly. As such, he hires her into Baroque Works as his personal tailor, under the codename Miss .
He promises her that she'll have all she could ask for. All she has to do is to make clothes for him and to keep quiet about his operations. No assassinations required. That doesn't mean he doesn't support her in learning to fight with her rapier and devil fruit though.
It doesn't take long for him to introduce Cora to the royal family of Alabasta. They're kind and welcoming and give Cora a lot of freedom in learning about the country's culture, its fashion and different methods of clothing design. Cora finds herself growing close to Princess Vivi especially, but she knows it's only temporary.
Things start to turn chaotic when a group of teenagers who call themselves the Straw Hat Pirates start picking fights with Baroque Works. They wreak havoc in Whiskey Peak - taking in Vivi in the process -, defeat multiple agents on Little Garden and even steal an Eternal Pose to Alabasta! Sir Crocodile is very upset and Cora can feel trouble brewing. The ever-terrifying Miss All Sunday is acting strangely too.
But then, the Straw Hats show up at the Rainbase Casino.
Cora's entire world is turned around.
Suddenly, things aren't easy anymore.
There's a man on the phone with Sir Crocodile, someone who identifies himself as Mr Prince. His voice is oddly familiar. Too familiar for Cora to just sit idly. She finds the mysterious man in the middle of the casino, and her heart nearly stops when she sees him. Because it's Sanji. The Sanji she has been mourning for over ten years, who she thought was dead. She knows it's him but he won't stop pretending that he doesn't know who she is. He has to know, she saw it in his eyes, but he doesn't want to let her in.
"It's because we're supposed to be enemies now, isn't it?"
No matter what she tries, he won't drop his act.
That is until they meet again in the middle of a civil war and Sanji is fighting Mr 2, one of Baroque Works's best agents... and one of Cora's best friends. Mr 2 has the ability to change into anyone he has touched, which is part of how he fights. Change into people his opponents care about and hit them when they're paralysed and conflicted. Just as Cora arrives, she can see Mr 2 wearing her face, see Sanji refusing to hit someone who looks like her. Now he can't lie to her anymore.
In a move that her boss would only consider stupid, Cora steps between the two combatants, nearly getting herself stabbed. But it works. Even without her drawing her rapier, neither of them want to hurt her.
The civil war for Alabasta ends. Baroque Works has fallen. With no other options, Cora leaves Alabasta with the Straw Hats on their ship, but she can't get herself to stay. She's just not cut out for a pirate's life. After all, she's just a tailor. So, she leaves the ship at the next island, aiming to find a job with the Marines instead. Surely, they need someone to make the thousands of uniforms they need, right? It sounds like the perfect stable job.
But things turn out very differently. Cora does find work with the Marines, but not making uniforms. Instead, she's tailoring the suits and coats for the upper ranks. But this job is anything but stable. It doesn't take long for a big execution to take place at Marine Headquarters. A war breaks out, with Cora getting stuck right in the middle. She tries her best to avoid the fighting, to defend herself whenever she can, but the chaos is so fundamental that she can't do anything except hide and wait for it to be over.
When the smoke clears, Cora finds herself staring it to piercing, golden eyes of Dracule Hawk Eyes Mihawk, a Warlord just like Crocodile had been. He... kidnaps her(?)... out of the ruins of Marineford and brings her with him to his island, a dark and gloomy place with a large castle in the middle. Apparently, there's a whiny ghost girl on the island too... and Zoro, that green-haired swordsman that was with the Straw Hats. Neither of them are supposed to be here, it seems. But Mihawk, despite his cold exterior, lets them stay. And he'll let Cora stay too, if she makes clothes for him, that is. As it turns out, the World's Greatest Swordsman is into fashion. Who knew!
It's definitely not what Cora had expected her life to become. Living in a castle on an otherwise uninhabited island (safe for the killer gorillas), alongside a moody swordsman, a quirky goth girl and a mossheaded, directionally challenge pirate, albeit the latter only temporarily. But using her skills and passion and having discussions about fashion in return for meals, a home and swordfighting lessons from the World's Greatest... Not a bad deal.
Finally, a stable employment... right?
No, this AU is called Cross Guild AU for a reason, her state of employment will change again, though not as drastically. But this post is already long enough, and if you know about the Cross Guild, you know where this story is headed.

hiii! omg thank u for wanting to know đŸ„șđŸ„ș i actually use two methods, depending on the source file (and how lazy i feel). either vapoursynth or mpv. i'll show u both!
long, the example gif has a flashy background, somewhat clear. i hope.
i source from .ts files on k24hr or twitter, fancams, and then the youtube version (which i then run through handbrake before vs or mpv) if there's absolutely no other choice. i try to avoid show music core because its backgrounds make sharpening hard, but i'm using one from there for this tutorial :) i will also use beyond live / blu-ray files when available (i.e. 4th world tour gifs i did of twice)
vapoursynth:
-> only use the deinterlace (60 slow) when it's 1080i 30fps! i use this on files from k24hrs. if the file is already 60 fps (i.e. those from srghkqud on twitter), i don't deinterlace or preprocess. i use finesharp on .7 any time i use vs!

this gif is 268 x 520 px! i leave the delay at .02 and set frame rate to 60fps. on the left, it is just changed to 60fps and run through vs with the above settings. the gif on the right is sharpened!
i change my sharpening settings on every stage (and most other sets as well)! i use an action, and then adjust by the background and quality of the source! this is using my stage sharpening - but i have removed a smart sharpen and reduced opacity of other filters i use on different (clearer) files!
show music core has these really visible leds in their background, so sharpening it tends to be harder! i avoid using my 500px smart sharpens when it looks like this, and use high pass and bigger radius smaller amount smart sharpens!

sharpening settings for above: 8.0 high pass on soft light blending (40% opacity), 241 .2 smart sharpen (60% opacity), 15 15 smart sharpen (50% opacity) i should also note that on really really pale stages, i use camera raw filter to fix whites / highlights before i add the other sharpening! this does really slow down export time and can be frustrating, so i reserve it for then!
then i color! sometimes i use ezgif (which hasn't lowered quality that i've noticed) to adjust the speed, if i feel it needs it! this gif has a fine speed so i've left it as is, but i normally speed up gifs by 120% on their speed feature to make the choreo look a little faster!

my coloring focus is always restoring skin, everything else is pretty much purely stylistic. i try to leave colors in the background the same! i do really like making blonde hair pinker or more toned (since they're often yellow, i always make a point of essentially toning their hair for them - i.e. tsuki in dang! set)
when i color the rest of the set, i keep the first gif open next to it to make sure everything matches! i normally copy and paste the coloring group and adjust as needed :D
also, i check how it looks in tumblr on desktop + mobile, since web safe colors adjust the look of your gifs a lot (the ones with the little dots in the middle are web safe, everything else isn't) and try to fix what doesn't look quite right. i also ask my friends if something is wrong but i'm not sure what (mainly nini (@withyouth) so shout out to her for putting up w/ me, a big part of the stage gif process)!
mpv: -> i press 'd' and make sure it is deinterlacing (again, only 1080i ones get deinterlaced)! and then i screencap. i followed this guide on setting up mpv, and always use minimal compression settings for everything i screencap.
-> i turn my files into dicom files (you can just rename them on mac, on windows it is multistep) and then scipt->load multiple dicom files (faster than loading image into stack and, in my opinion, clearer too)!
for windows: -> alt+d in your screencap folder, cmd. enter. type ren *.* *.dcm into the window. enter. close the command window!
i make my frame animation + frames to layers. once it is on the timeline, i go ahead and crop before i do anything else. i tried to make the cropping like the vs gif, but it's not identical!
sharpening: since i didn't use finesharp, i can add more in ps. this is my normal stage sharpening with nothing added or removed!

i normally use mpv, but sometimes i don't feel like waiting on the screencaps, or i think finesharp will add texture + depth that the original doesn't have (too smooth of a filter, whatever) so i use vs! my taeyeon mr. mr. and le sserafim rock ver. sets were both done via vapoursynth, though the sharpenings are different from each other and what it shown here (i change sharpening a lot, and sometimes by set... sorry.. KJHDFGJKH)!

hi sorry if this has been asked before, but i've been looking on your faq page for aska regarding your gifs? especially how yo make them - I'd like to create some too but it's so complicated😅
i use photoshop (not paid for lmao i downloaded a version off here years ago from like. 2016) + kmplayer + if it's game gifs, i use nvidia shadowplay to record
i'll put this under a cut because of images/length
i open my footage in kmplayer, and use the frame extraction function over the timespan of the clip i want to gif. these are the settings for that:

normally for games, i record in 60fps and extract every 2nd frame, but sometimes i extract every frame and scroll through to delete duplicates made from stuttering etc. for everything else like movies/tv, i extract every frame. normally, i try to go for around 100 frames, but you can have more or less depending on your final gif size, and also you can always trim your gif down when you're in photoshop, but more frames = longer import time
then in photoshop i go to file > scripts > load files into stack and select all the frames i want to go into the gif i'm making

for the method i use, you need a version of photoshop with timeline animation, and make sure the timeline i displayed (window > animation)
now the next part has a lot of little steps, but they're fairly easy to get the hang of once you've done it enough. it's basically muscle memory for me now but i still do sometimes do things in the wrong order lmfao
anyway. the steps are as follows:
click 'create video timeline'
click the 3 little boxes in the bottom left
in the right menu, choose 'make frames from layers'
when thats loaded, open the menu again and choose 'reverse frames'
click the last frame and change from 5 seconds to no delay
make sure you choose 'forever' instead of 'once' in the bottom left
select all frames (you can select the last one, then scroll back to the first and shift click to select them all, or just click 'select all' in the menu, i'm just used to doing it the first way for some reason lmao)
in the right menu, choose 'convert to timeline'
then select all the layers (can use shift click again)
and finally go to filter > convert for smart filters
here's a very small shitty gif of the process for a visual aid (a gif of a gifmaking guide... wow)

now you have a gif, basically! but you still need to resize and sharpen and edit, etc. i've posted about some of the things i do before but not really in detail because i mess around every time and don't always do the same things. and you don't have to do much! just do whatever looks good to you :')
tumblr's gif dimensions are 540px width for wide gifs, 268px width for two small gifs, and three small gifs are 177px for the two outer gifs, 176px for the middle one (don't ask me why they did that)
once you're done with that, you can export the gif by going to file > export > save for web (legacy). these are usually my settings:

but i might change the colors to 264 if it's a smaller gif, or even to 64 if there are less colours and i can get away with it. for example in these gifs, i only used 64 colours since they were pretty brown/monochrome anyway, but something a lot more colourful would look terrible with 64 colours
the gif needs to be max 9.99MB, but if it goes over, you can always adjust it in the next step. once it's exported, i open it again
select all the frames and click the little arrow on one of the frames, then change the timing. i almost always use 0.05, but you can experiment with what you like the look of
then if the gif's over 9.99mb i just delete frames from the beginning and/or end until it's under the limit. then export it the same way as before (overwrite the old one or save it as a new file if you like) and you're done!

SHOSHIMIN anime REVIEW
Kobato and Osanai start their high school lifes with the goal of becoming "ordinary", while getting away from their pasts. But the duo time and time again ends up putting themselves in the middle of mysterys to resolve.

For starters I want to say I love this anime. It wasn't in my watchlist this season, but after I saw gifs of the first episode I got curious with how pretty it looked. So I watched it. And it enchanted me.
I have to admit that I love mysterys and slice of life, so after ep1 i thought this series was just that (specially if one makes expectations with hyouka), but I was actually surprised with the twist of the overall cases being a lot more complex and serious.
I still found it refreshing tho, not all mysterys have to be murderers, they can be simple like doing cocoa or finding a poshette; it touches something i was craving and it makes reality, the common moments in our lifes, a lot more interesting.
(I want to make this post more about the anime as an adaptation and make my thoughts on the story another one, where i talk about the novels,,, so i'll leave that there).
The anime in itself is just so good, is stunning; the animation, art, character design, backgrounds, music and sound, the voice actors, direction; everything works so well together and creates a feast not only for the eye.
Even if there are moments i wish would have made it to the anime, is obvious it won't be a 1:1 adaptation and tbh they aren't a big deal for the entire picture. Also, I have to point out that how it translastes the novels to such a different media is a bit fascinating.
Kobato is the one that narrates the novels and even if they could have used that in the anime anyways, i like that they didn't. Kobato's sarcastic comments or how his thought process goes is lost, but it doesn't change him as a character. We are shown the mask he is trying to create for himself, but fails to mantain. That mask that everyone around him sees.
Specially if we take in consideration how kobato is an unreliable narrator, so in the anime we have this chance to see what he really wants us to see of himself, but we can also see the things he hides.
Also, without him narrating the animators and team are able to create the myteryous atmosphere that is around the characters and specially in the relationship between Osanai and Kobato. that have such a unique dinamic.
I like that they don't give us the answers to the characters with just words, but showing. and if we take into account the type of media an anime is, I find this the right choice.
BUT, i do regret that some moments where lost, like kobato running outside of the school at the end of the spring tart case after osanai doesn't answer, even before kengo finishes talking or the panic attack he has in the elevator being changed to the moment under the bridge. i think taking away this moments belittles how important osanai is for him...
On other point I was curious how they'll adapt the story considering it was modernized and the climax on the first book is bc kobato has an old cellphone, but i think it was fine how they did it.
This is definetly one of my favorites animes, not just this season, but this year. I really recommend it for the mystery fans.
And I'm specially exited to see how they adapt the 3&4 novel and their relationships, can't wait!!!!

Gif/Coloring Tutorial

I was asked by @just-lost-inbetween-worlds​​  how I make, specifically, my Titans gifs so I figured I’d just make a tutorial on the gif making and coloring since the show is SO blue and the process is the same for all of my gifs.
I did try and go into every step so it’s hopefully beginner friendly lol It did get a little long but I hope it helps!!
What you’ll need:
Clip of what you’re giffing (try using footage that’s 1080p or 4k, nothing below 720p)
Adobe Photoshop (I’m using 2022)
Step 1:
Open photoshop, click file > import video frames to layers

Use the cursors to trim the part you want to gif, make sure you have “make frame animation” selected

Step 2: 
Group all of the frames you want to be a part of your gif. Click your first layer then crtl+shift+click your last layer

Step 3:
Delete the frames and layers you don’t want to be a part of your gif. Select the layers and click the little trash can at the very bottom of your layer panel. Do the same in your timeline

Step 4:
Click the hamburger stack at the right hand side of your timeline then click “select all frames”
Click one of the little arrows on one of your frames and change the speed to 0.05

Step 5:
Change the size of your canvas. Tumblr has specific dimensions for gifs. For 1 column gifs, the width should be 540px, for 2 column gifs the width should be 268px, and for three column gifs the width should be 177px on the outside gifs and 178px for the middle gifs.
My favorite dimensions are 540px by 340px but you can mess around with the height. The height of the gif does not matter

Step 6:
Select your group then go to edit > free transform. Use free transform to adjust your frames to fit your new canvas size

Step 7:
Click the hamburger stack and select all frames. Ungroup your layers by right clicking your group then “ungroup layers”.  On the bottom left side of your timeline, click the little hamburger stack with a line through it to covert your timeline to frame animation. Just make sure all of your frames and layers are selected when you turn your timeline into frame animation

Select all of your layers and right click > “covert to smart object”

The coloring! Click the little folder at the very bottom of your layers panel

Click the adjustment layers option and select “Channel mixer”.

I really like channel mixer for scenes that are really blue and really yellow. It’s a quick way to reverse those filters. Channel Mixer works with contrasting colors. So, your blues go yellow, your greens go purple and your reds go blue. I highly recommend this tutorial by @zoyanazyalensky​​​ . It is amazing and they explain channel mixer worlds better than I ever could lol
For my gif, it’s really blue, so I go to the blue channel and bring the blue blues down a little

My gif starts going a little bit green so I open the green channel and bring the green greens down a little bit

I just messed with the blue and green mixer until I was happy with it. My channel mixer settings ended up looking like this

Step 11:
Click the adjustments layer option and select "Brightness/Contrast”

These are my brightness and contrast settings. Set these to whatever works best for your gif. Be careful not to brighten too much because your gif can go a bit grainy if you do

Step 12: 
Click the adjustments layer option and select “Color Balance”

I love color balance. You can adjust a lot with it and it’s a great adjustment layer. For every gif, I start with midtones. For blue gifs like this one, I slide all of the sliders to the right and staircase them. There isn’t a specific number I set them to since every gif is different so I just slide them until I’m happy with them.
Next, click the drop down menu that says “midtones” and select “shadows”. For shadows, I also slide them just a little bit to the right.
Next, click the drop down menu and click “highlights”. Again, just move those a little bit to the right.

For gifs that are more yellow, you’ll likely slide your sliders to the left instead of the right!!

Step 13:
Click the adjustments layer option and select “Selective Color”

Selective color is great because it allows you to fine tune individual colors within your gif rather than changing the entire color of it. Selective color is really helpful when it comes to skin tones as well. There isn’t a specific way I do this lol I just slide the sliders left and right until I like what it looks like lol

I almost allows brings the white blacks all the way to -100 and have the black blacks set to +1 to +3
Step 14:
Click the adjustments layer option and select "Vibrance”. I just upped the vibrance and saturation a bit since Jason’s skin was looking a little washed out.

Step 15:
Add your sharpening!! Click your smart object then go to filter > sharpen > smart sharpen. I’m using sharpening by @anya-chalotra​​​ but I usually set the reduce noise to 7

Export!! Go to file > export > save for web

Make sure your gif is under 10mb (red circle) because if it’s over 10, it won’t play on Tumblr.
Make sure your colors are set to 256 and your dither is 100% (green circle), the quality is set to “bicubic” (blue circle), and the looping is set to forever (pink circle). The yellow circle are my other settings. You can play around with those but I find adaptive and diffusion work best in most cases!!
Step 17:
Photoshop will export your gif with a speed of 0.07 so now you need to fix that. Once your gif is saved, open your gif in Photoshop again. Select all of your frames and change the speed to 0.05. Then export it like above and save!!

“This you?” Your eyes squint at the newspaper.
He’s practically shoving it in your face. 
You were once again swept away against your will and taken to the top of a building. This time from the middle of the street as you were making your way to a sandwich shop a block or so from Feli’s. You desperately needed something to subdue that horrible acidic feeling of a hangover. 
It’s already 3 o’clock, but the ache in your bones has only worsened, not to mention your irritated attitude.
You don’t get why Spider-Man couldn’t have just met you at a coffee place. In fact, coffee is just what you need right now. 
“Hm, I don’t think so. I’ve never been to
Mama Jane’s pizzeria.” He flips it over and realizes he turned to the wrong page. 
“Dammit,” He ruffles through the paper then turns it back around. “No, this.”
The headline is hard to miss: ‘Mysterious ‘twin-kissers’ break into the Nueva Bank of America’
You scrunch your nose, “Twin-kissers? They really couldn’t have chosen a better name?”
“What’re you doing blasting holes into buildings?” 
“What do you mean?”
“What do you mean ‘what do you mean’?!” 
“Ok, ok, chill.” Your head is already pounding from the night before, and his impatient tone isn’t helping. “Calm down. Or at least be a little quieter”
“Calm down? You’ve got the whole PDNY after you! You’re lucky they have shit cameras at banks or you’d be toast.” 
You ignore him and walk over to the edge of the roof. You don’t want to look at him right now. Or have him look at you. 
“Please, as if the PDNY has caught anyone without your help.” 
“That’s not the point!”
There’s a ghost of a feeling itching the back of your mind reminding you how you used to have a horrible fear of heights before the accident.
Now, you wouldn’t even care if you fell and smashed into the pavement like a moldy pumpkin. You’d actually welcome it.
Your head already feels like it’s about to implode, so why not speed up the process?
It wouldn’t happen anyway. Spider-Man is with you. He’s too good, he wouldn’t let it happen no matter how many banks you blow up.
You sit down on the ledge, letting your legs hang over the bustling city below. 
He sighs, god he’s dramatic. “Look, Blaze.” That name. That dumbass name that started it all. You look up at him, eyes tired – body tired. “I just want to know why you’re acting like this. We both know this isn’t you.”
Your eyebrows raise in surprise. We? There’s a we?
It’s your turn to sigh. 
You look back down at the street below you, under your idly swinging chucks. Little people living their little lives, always on their way to or from somewhere. With purpose.
Your purpose blew up alongside the reactor. 
“You don’t even know me, Spider-Man.” 
“Miguel.”
“Spider-Man.” You tilt your head upwards and look at the skyline, the world around you. A view you can only see from a certain height. What he’s always looking at. What he’s trying to protect? 
You turn to him and he’s looking at you, standing tall next to your seated body. You hate how he looks down on you even though you put yourself in this position. 
But it’s not just him, it’s everyone. The world’s against you and you have no idea how to fight back. 
“What’s changed?”
“What, you thought this little charade of cat and mouse would go on forever? That I would be your little villain-of-the-week my whole life?” 
He shakes his head then softly says your name. Your actual name. You haven’t heard it since you’ve turned into this
monster. “I mean, what’s changed between us?” 
“There is no us.” You mean to spit it out, lay it on him like acid on paper, push him away, but you only sound defeated. Done. “There was one kiss fueled by adrenaline at the height of a heist – well, an attempted heist – and now there’s this.” You let the words settle into the silence. “A Spider-Man and a girl.” 
You hear him approach and take a seat next to you, but you don’t look over. His skin-tight blue and red suit contrasts sharply with the pale rust of the brick, and even more, the dirty grey of the pavement down below. 
“I don’t believe that.”
You scoff, staring at the cars, taxis, and buses stopped at a traffic light. It’s easier to look at the red light than his concerned crimson eyes. You’re scared you’ll betray yourself and get lost in them again. Lost in him. Because you know this time, you won’t hold back. 
 “You don’t have to believe anything. It is what it is.” 
“No, see I don’t get it. You were never a villain, barely even a criminal, but because of some words, some stupid narrative, you’re trying to be someone you aren’t.  Because it’s the easy way out.”
Your head snaps to him, “Easy? You think this is easy?”
“I think you’re letting yourself get pulled into a life that isn’t yours. I-I’m sca–...concerned you’re going to lose yourself.” That I’m going to lose you.
It sits unspoken in the air and fizzes against your skin. You decide it’s
 uncomfortable.  
You think about how you got to this point. The fear and betrayal that had you bobbing for apples in that vat of fluid, the instant rejection you received from the city once you got out, the push and pull that you’ve had with Miguel, and the first real friend you’ve ever had, Feli. 
She’s a criminal, that’s for sure, but she’s always had your back. Helped you to embrace the new you. How could you deceive her and take what was once hers? 
You get up without another word. There’s nothing to decide, you already know what you need to do. You make your way to the door leading to the stairs. 
“Blaze
”
“We don’t owe each other anything, Spider-Man. Just get out of my way and watch the city burn.”

hey everyone! this is my first tutorial on giffing! I'll be covering some of the basics of coloring and specifically my usual steps and preferences in editing!
A basic understanding of giffing is required here since I won't cover any of the first steps nor pre processing involved in giffing and we'll go straight into coloring in photoshop.
For this tutorial I'll be using this Felix set as an example:

For my gifs I usually always go for a really bright and clear look. I like to have vibrant colors and making the subject pop a lil. I try to achieve skintone accuracy but I tend to make my gifs just a tiny bit pink as well, avoiding super warm tones. (which in hindsight I realize I may have overdone the warmth for this felix set a bit but oh well)
Let's get into it!
So after you have imported your clip and added any smart filters of your preference, you should start coloring (above the frame layers of your gif) by using a special type of effect called Adjustment Layer. You can find this tool on the bottom of the layers panel:

There are many options of Adjustment Layers, but for now we will be using: Exposure, Curves, Vibrance, Color Balance and Selective Color.
☆ Exposure ☆ this is always ALWAYS my first step. It's crucial for my gif to end up with that clear and bright impression. There are 3 settings here, exposure / offset / gamma correction:

Exposure: Helps to highlight and overall light the entire image up. ↳ raise it up in tiny bits to add light
Offset: I use this to sort of "defog" everything. ↳ lower it to "defog" (in this case my overuse of it ended up removing most details from his dark clothing but I still like the final look)
Gamma Correction: similar as the one above, it helps to give more depth to the whole image. ↳ you can lower it to add depth, it might look confusing but as u drag the controller to the right, the number will go down, so it will be less than 1. In this case I raised it a bit so I turned it down just a lil.
↳ note: these settings will greatly affect the whole gif so try not to go too far with it, I usually only change these in tiny increments.
☆ Curves ☆ there's a lot that can be done with this Adjustment Layer. if you keep the drop down option as RGB, it will have a similar effect to the exposure Adjustment Layer I explained previously. You can just create points on the line and move them around and that will affect the image. The areas near the bottom of the grid affect the darker colors of the image, the middle afftecs the middletone colors and the top of the grid affects the lighter areas. Dragging the line upwards will make things lighter, and dragging it down will make it darker. Sometimes I use this to further complement on top of the Exposure layer, but again with caution.

↳ note: Now the really interesting thing about this Adjustment Layer is if you click on the dropdown menu where it says RGB, you can choose between the 3 color channels - red, green or blue and make changes on those specifically. In this case, if you create a point on the line and drag it down, it will sort of remove that color from the image. If you do it around the top grid, it will focus on the highlight areas, in the middle will be middletones and at the bottom will be the darkest areas. This can be VERY useful when editing clips that have one predominant color, for example stages with red lighting.
In this case tho my use of this layer has been very slight, it's really only complementing what I had already started with the previous exposure layer. So it's giving him a bit more depth and contrast while also darkening the bg a bit more to help him pop.

☆ Color Balance ☆ this Adjustment Layer allows you to alter the balance of the colors within the 3 ranges of the entire image: highlights, midtones and shadows (darker areas). It can change the entire vibe of the image very quickly. I always play around with it a little bit. I usually like to reduce some of the warmness of the image and specially the shadows by turning the blue and cyan handles up.

☆ Vibrance ☆ this Adjustment Layer is quite simple, with it you will manipulate how saturated and vibrant the colors will be. I usually raise vibrance a lot and saturation just a bit. This is because the vibrance setting is a lot more subtle than saturation.

☆ Selective Color ☆ this Adjustment Layer is the true game changer imo. It gives you total control over most colors. I use it specially to adjust the skin tone usually. Usually to edit the skin colors you'd touch on red and neutrals. This is where I can add or remove warmth from the skintone alone if I want to. I also tend to mess with the blacks because I like to make it a bit blue.

☆ Extra Color ☆ sometimes i like to add a color (usually some shade of blue) on top of everything and set it to a different layer mode such as lighten, overlay, soft light etc (i just test them out a lot). I also tend to mess with the layer opacity here, usually leaving it at around 60%. In this case, I used a dark blue to soften out the final result a bit while still giving Felix a pop of contrast. To be honest you can also do this step with the Gradient Map adjustment layer. But I built a habit of doing it this way since before I learned how to use that adjustment layer.

☆ Final Comments ☆ I highly recommend playing around with all of these settings to get the hang of it and see what you like. Keep in mind that the order of your adjustment layers will also matter but it's up to you to find out your style and what works for you. You may also need to use the same adjustment layer multiple times depending on what you're editing so don't worry about your editing layers getting long.

if you ever have difficulties involving your parents, he's always there by your side, arm wrapped around your shoulders as he rubs your back comfortingly, listening to whatever you had to say intently. damn the whole world if they ever showed you an ounce of disrespect for your sexuality, if anyone wanted to bring you down for loving who you wanted to love, they'd have to deal with him first. if he could defend you from all the cruelty the world had to offer he would. (he can and he WILL protect you at all costs bc you are simply one of his favorite human beings that deserves nothing but love and respect)
eddie's always there for you, through thick and thin, and all he wants is to be in your life for the long run, celebrating who you are and whoever you choose to love.

after that he just stays quiet, trying to calm the erratic beating of his heart and not let his imagination run wild

but if anything, kirishima’s the one who feels like he’s about to faint from seeing so much skin
he thinks it’s really unmanly of him to see you naked without your consent so he’s on the brink of an existential crisis

the big ‘thud’ startles you and even more so when you see tamaki’s unconscious body on the floor

it takes him a good 5 minutes to open his eyes again 
he feels a cold towel pressed up against his forehead and he frowns at the feeling
when he turns his head around, he notices that he’s laying down on your bed
but you're nowhere to be seen 
“thank god you’re awake” 
your voice comes from behind him and that’s when he realizes he’s not only laying down on your bed, but also on your lap
“you really worried me!”
cue him blushing like there’s no tomorrow and stuttering 
“s-sorry. i was just s-surprised to see you c-changing and i’m sorry i didn’t tell you i was coming b-beforehand”
you shake your head, “that’s okay tama, i’m not mad at you”
he just nods because he’s afraid he’ll say something dumb if he talks
you brush your fingers through his indigo hair and he swears he can feel himself falling more in love with you in that precise moment 
you smile down at him
“what did you come here for anyway? not that i mind, but you know”
“nejire told me y-you seemed down today s-so i came to check up on you”
butterflies flutter in your stomach at his sweet words
“aww you’re so sweet, but i’m okay. i was just feeling sad”
he sits up to look at you better and he doesn’t miss the way you pout when his hair is no longer in between your fingers 
which makes his heart speed up 
“are you okay?”
his question is so genuine and he seems so concerned, it makes you want to keep him in your pocket forever
“i am now” 
he smiles at your response, happy that you feel better
“i’m glad”
“now come here, i wanna play with your hair”
and who is he to deny such request?

OH WOW i genuinely still struggle with making high quality gifs, so i’m so touched that you think they look good!! i learned everything from tumblr tutorials, so sadly, i don’t have any videos to share
but! i’ve always wanted to share my process, so here it is, if you’re interested (or if anyone is, really!)
i’m constantly changing up my sharpening settings and coloring process, but here are some processes/tutorials that i (mostly) stick to nowadays, with this gif as my example:

i chose a difficult gif to color because that’s how universal this process is for me (usually)!!
base gif
load video into frames, cropping, resizing
this is all standard, so i'll just share the tutorial i follow: lizzo @ tumblr (steps 1-7)

sharpen smart object
i forgot where i got this, but essentially i use the basic Sharpen command then lower the filter’s opacity (25-50%). here’s where you can adjust smart filter opacity btw:

it doesn’t look like it does much, but i usually use this to finely sharpen the gif (by changing opacity) since i try not to mess with the Smart Sharpens

from buckysbarnes @ tumblr, here are my changes: Smart Sharpen 1: 500%, 0.3 px, reduce noise 20 Smart Sharpen 2: 20%, 10 px, reduce noise 4
these settings look good for this show, but i sometimes change the opacity of these filters for different shows if the gif is smaller (268px wide), i would reduce the opacity of these filters to 50%

my favorite thing, i can’t live without it now!!! thank you to cuddlybitch @ tumblr for sharing this technique; i use option 2 with these settings: intensity 10; contrast 50; grain type soft; opacity 25-50%

base coloring
yay it’s the fun part!!
brightness/contrast
honestly, i just press Auto and let photoshop do its thing! i’ll adjust from there, and i rarely ever adjust this

photo filter
deep blue, preserve luminosity on, then i play with the density (maximum 50%) in this gif, it’s at 32% because it’s very yellow
i sometimes add other filters depending on the mood i’m going for (usually yellow or cyan)

levels
this usually makes or breaks the gif! i start by pressing auto:

then i adjust: move highlights (rightmost arrow) to start/rise of the histogram to its left move shadows (leftmost arrow) to the start/rise of the histogram to its right i adjust midtones (middle arrow) based on the general brightness i want for the gif

color balance
i generally like my highlights more blue, but this entirely depends on the gif! i just play around until it looks more neutral
in this gif, i added more cyan & blue to the highlights and more cyan & yellow to the midtones/shadows

vibrance x3
i follow this tutorial from s-k-y-w-a-l-k-e-r @ tumblr (just the part about vibrance/saturation)

in ths case, i removed the color burn/color dodge layers because it was a little too saturated i just kept the vibrance +50 layer

hue/saturation
in this layer, i eliminate colors that don’t really add to the gif to reduce colors and increase the quality! i check where the colors are in the gif by increasing saturation to +100, then reducing it to -100 if it seems negligible. here’s what each color looks like

obviously, reds/yellows/magentas are important, but greens/cyans/blues could be removed i also reduced reds and yellows -10 because it was a little too saturated there

first, i adjust the black level of each color to adjust the contrast of colors (not the cyan/magenta/yellow yet)

and when i feel like it, that’s when i add subtle changes to the colors in this case, i only touched red, magenta, and white

there are probably ways to make it more efficient and use less layers, so i’m still constantly playing with these! this process also tries to preserve the original colors as much as possible, but i’m also able to wildly change colors with photo filters/color balance/selective color, if needed

Hi, I really love your andor gifset from September 28 2022 (idk if I can post a link so... but it's from the first episode) and I was wondering if you could maybe give me some tips on how to make it so clear and vibrant even when the picture is big? I have just started gif-making a few days ago and I definitely want to aspire to make such great gifs.
Hi there!!!! Firstly tysmmm đŸ„ș i really had a fun time making those big gif andor episode sets i think they all turned out great!
I did make a tutorial a while back mostly focusing on how I sharpen my gifs. My steps mostly the same as they were here except I now export gifs using "adaptive & diffusion"
The Andor gifsets you called out I did use 4K SDR videos. But I don't always think 4K is necessary (especially where r we gunna get them now rip rarbg), 1080p is always preferred and if you're d*wnl*ding / t*rr*nting i would recommend trying to pick the larger file size, for example choosing a movie thats 5GB over 1.5GB.
In my last tutorial I didn't really go into how I colour my gifs but that's where the biggest changes come into place. I don't use a set preset/psd, I colour each gifset uniquely but I do have the same order of steps generally. My order of adjustment layers tends to be: Levels, Curves, Selective Colour, Vibrancy. I also frequently use Channel Mixer and Hue/Saturation when needed. Below the cut I'll share my "starting" settings for some of the adjustments layers but these often change as the gif needs.
I hope this is somewhat helpful!! I think with practice and more gifing you'll find your own style and process. I look back at gifs I made a year ago and think oooof haha what was I doing back then. constant improvements & always finding new tricks♄ I would also recommend following some gif resources blogs like @usergif or @pscentral they often post really helpful tutorials & tricks to help make your gifmaking the best it can be!
Levels - I tend to start with the default "Increase Contrast 1" or "Increase Contrast 2" depending on how dark the intial scene is. When making aditional adjustments I focus on the end sliders - the dark & light, and barely ever touch the midtones adjustment, if i do use it I go very subtly so 1.05 or 0.95. Our goal in the end is to make the darkest parts of the gif black & the lightest parts almost white.

Curves - imo curves makes the biggest adjustment for the gif colouring. shes my best friend! So again I focus on the dark/light eye droppers. I start with the white eyedropper and select something white or the lightest part of the gif, then go to the black eye dropper selecting a very dark portion of the gif. Then in the middle section I adjust the curves line (white line) to meet the needs of the gif for proper contrast / brightness. If needed Ill open the RGB drop down (red arrow) and adjust specific colours. I use the Blue the most as i often see alot of yellow tint in movies (which i hate lol) so ill bring the top end of the blue line closer to the centre of the grid to reduce the yellowness. Sometimes ill make a second curves layer, set the preset to "linear contrast" then adjust the sliders as needed, this often gives additional contrast & brightness.

Selective Colour - my second best friend! this is where you can make little adjustments to the hues of the gif, then fine tweak the darkness/brightness in the gif. So below i have my "starting points" in the white, natural & black colours. Often the white ends up being a much lower number (-40 or less) and in the neutrals area i can fine tune the overall hue of the gif - reduce the yellows or increase the reds etc. This tool is alot of playing around with and just seeing what looks good!

Vibrance - this is normally the last layer ill add. I barely change the settings I tend to go with 20-30 Vibrance and then 2-5 on Saturation. Just gives add extra vibrancy and colour pop. Saturation stays a bit on the lower side as often bringing it makes peoples skin tone too orange/red/yellow etc. But if I want over saturation increase on particular colours I'll make those adjustments with a Hue/Saturation layer.
