love is a. . . frequency?
a fight involving flug, demencia, 505, humiko, mawrasite and illuminarrow is taking place as a group of heroes is trying to thwart them. meanwhile in some random visible electronic screen the AI villain VIRUS with surveying the battle.
VIRUS: . . . . . she's not here. . . .
flug (looking over after a brief second of spoting VIRUS) : huh? VIRUS, what's he doing here?- AAHH! (a hero fires a beam at him)
demencia (noticing flug was shot at): wake up! why are you just standing there?! come on flug!
flug: demencia isn't that VIRUS? (he points)
demencia: i don't see anyone (looks over and sees VIRUS on the screen). . . oh yeah you're right- uffah! (gets punch by a hero)
humiko (blocking with her sword against an armed hero): hey gang! how about leaving the sight-seeing till after the battle!
505: ba ba bow ba bow raar rar ruuuh
flug: right 505, everyone! get ready to execute black hat alpha maneuver number 28!
(everyone gathers together and readies to perform alpha maneuver number 28. . . . throwing a choking and tear gas bomb at the group of heroes and runs away. . . .)
*back at black hat mansion everyone is gathered in a room*
flug (in an angry tone): what were you thinking!? staying on the sidelines VIRUS! you almost cost us the job, distracting us like that!
*on a screen in the mansion VIRUS grumbles and his eyes look down*
flug: well! don't just stand idle in that screen say something you defected AI!
*the screen splits as data numbers blip on the screen*
flug: what are doing?
*the data on the split screen starts to form an image; it results in a picture of heart-cam*
everyone (confused): uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh????
*VIRUS soon blanks out the screen indicating he's left*
illuminarrow: what's up with VIRUS? and why'd he show us heed's flying robot?
flug: beats me.
*back at dark phantom's lair where VIRUS was staying*
dark phantom: VIRUS! where have you been! you know we all have a villainous crime to plan together, what if we get into some kind of battle!
VIRUS: sigh. . . love is a battlefield.
dark phantom: umm hello i know that already, do you know how much sleep i lose thinking about demencia and sometimes van- wait a second! you're in love!. . . HOW!?
VIRUS: it all happen one spring afternoon. . . about 7 months ago.
*flashback; VIRUS in a food truck tv screen at a park*
VIRUS: the last bud of summer is blooming alone her velvet companions all faded and gone. . . poetic sentiment program executed. . . hmm?
*nearby miss heed is taking photos for her instagram account, she poses as her heart-cam bot takes pictures*
VIRUS (analyzing heart-cam) : . . . oh my. . . *he's green screen becomes red and little data dots become hearts* *flashback ends*
VIRUS: oh that beautiful heart-cam.
dark phantom: this is about those bots heed had? aren't they all just the same thing?!
VIRUS: you wouldn't understand my heart-cam is special.
dark phantom: no it's not! all those bots are just the same!
VIRUS: my frequencies were all a flutter, *sigh*.
flug: yes i see now, (he says with closed eyes and a hand on his bagged chin) it's a way for robots and programs to distinguish themselves, their AI and circuit systems must respond to different frequencies.
mawrasite: then the two of them must have had very similar frequencies. (she joins in agreeing with flug with closed eyes and a hand on her chin)
ghoul: (also joining the two) and that's why he probably felt excited.
dark phantom: what do you think you guys are doing sneaking in here!
demencia: oh come on fishboy, don't act like you're not happy to have company (she's leaning back in a chair flipping his tv remote)
dark phantom (in a changed tone like he's trying to be charming): hey demencia~ you know i didn't mean you, you're always welcome~
humiko (over by a coffee machine; pouring a glass): i'm assuming this is fresh.
illuminarrow (over by a fridge): hey phantom got any munchies in here?
dark phantom: STOP HELPING YOURSELF TO ALL MY STUFF!
VIRUS: my sweet sweet heart-cam (lost in his software thoughts speaking aloud)
?: that is so pathetic VIRUS. (a robotic voice says)
VIRUS: what is? (he looks over to the robot that has been staying at phantom's lair for their potential crime)
drill12: what do you mean! here you are falling transistors over motherboards for some mass-produced machine! don't you have any pride as a custom built model.
VIRUS: she may be mass-produced but i think she's delightful.
dark phantom: VIRUS, this is no time to be love-struck, we have an important job to get ready for.
illuminarrow (eating a snack): what's so important about this job?
dark phantom: if we pull this off we'll get to move up the ranks of the organization.
humiko: oh yeah? so then you've been actually having some success in your schemes. (she sips the coffee)
dark phantom: sure have!- HHHEEEYYY what's that suppose to mean anyways?!?
VIRUS: oh my angelic heart-cam~ (back to being lost in his thoughs and his screen is turned red)
dark phantom: HELLO! am i the only one with their eyes on the prize here!
VIRUS: what could my love be doing right now?
*VIRUS imagines heart-cam drinking some hot tea, exercising, playing with a robo-dog 'here boy~', showering as water hits her waterproof screen face*
VIRUS: is this what humans call blushing.
dark phantom: dude chill out!
VIRUS: . . . that's it. everyone: . . . huh?
*VIRUS is taking off in the black hat flying vehicle with everyone on board as he has complete control over it*
dark phantom: where the heck are you taking us?!?
VIRUS: to the PEACE headquarters building of course.
everyone: THE WHAT!?!?!?
*at PEACE headquarters an alarm is sounding through the building*
PEACE operative(over radio): attention unidentified flying object, surrender or we will fire!
VIRUS (responding) : tell me where my precious heart-cam is or i'll make you regret it.
PEACE operative: . . . what?!!?
VIRUS: initiating all weapons.
everyone miscellaneously: NO NO NO/don't do that!/turn back!/what are you crazy!/nononononono!/i don't wanna die/let's talk about this!/(505 panic noises)
*the black hat flying vehicle produces numerous weapons. . . as the peace building produces more weapons than the ship has; they both fire upon each other. after many blasts, the black hat ship starts falling from the sky*
everyone: AAAaaaHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
*on the outskirts of the city in the smoking remains of the black hat ship*
everyone: *agonizingly groaning on the floor of the ship as they lie on it*
dark phantom: VI. . .RUS (in a pained tone)
VIRUS: (appearing on screen) i may have miscalculated our odds.

DEATH OF THE INFUENCER
On the slow disappearance of the loudest people in the room.
I. POST-INFLUENCE
The influencer is no longer aspirational. She is also no longer relatable. And most importantly: she is no longer necessary.
She no longer inspires desire, only fatigue.
Not hated. Not envied. Just excessive.
What began as a subversion of celebrity has calcified into a spectacle more hollow and surface level than the institution it meant to replace. The era of curated authenticity has collapsed under its own contradiction. Everyone is tired. Even the algorithm has started to look away.
This is not a backlash.
It is a quiet forgetting.
The influencer is not dying. She is already dead. We’re just now learning how to speak of her in the past tense.
II. RELATABILITY COLLAPSED
The influencer economy was built on a lie dressed as intimacy. Follow me. Trust me. Be me. It was never real, just algorithmic proximity.
“Relatable” became a branding strategy. Vulnerability became scripted. Self-deprecation was weaponized into engagement.
The early influencers performed access. Now they perform aspiration. And in doing so, they’ve lost the only thing they were selling: the illusion of being like us.
There is nothing relatable about a PR trip to the Maldives. And there is nothing authentic about a closet managed by assistants and stylists.
We don’t cancel them. We ghost them. Because disinterest is more lethal than critique.
III. THE STYLIST BEHIND THE CURTAIN
Most influencers never had style. They had access. And a good team.
Their wardrobes were less personal expression than marketing decks, curated by assistants, pre-approved by PR, worn once, tagged always. They didn't build taste. They borrowed it. And their followers borrowed it from them, like a copy of a copy that eventually disintegrates.
The illusion was always that they chose the clothes. That they had vision. That they understood silhouettes, subtext and reference. But style, real style, is authored. It’s not just worn: it’s spoken.
That’s why the most followed girls in fashion can’t speak about fashion. They’ve never needed to.
A stylist gave them their aesthetic. The algorithm gave them their audience. And now both are withdrawing.
IV. THE RISE OF THE MICRO-OPERATOR
Out of the influencer’s shadow, a different figure is beginning to form. Not louder. Not bigger. Just more specific.
The micro-influencer. The niche archivist. The anonymous account dissecting runway theory on a 3am TikTok. They don’t have millions of followers. They have a point of view.
And that, finally, is enough.
This new wave doesn’t sell a lifestyle. They analyze it. They don’t wear clothes to be seen. They wear them to say something.
They aren’t influencers: they are operators. They read, they reference, they curate. They have taste, not trend cycles. And they’re slowly hijacking the algorithm. Not by playing to it, but by refusing to perform for it.
The future doesn’t belong to the most visible. It belongs to the most literate.
V. THE FRONT ROW IS EMPTY (EVEN WHEN IT’S FULL)
Fashion weeks used to be about image. Which is why influencers showing up as good PR. But now they’re about interpretation. And what does an influencer really know about fashion houses?
They still show up. They’re still dressed in the brand from head to toe. Still tagged. But no one’s listening. Because they have nothing to say.
The front row is shifting, not in seating charts but in cultural weight. The presence of the influencer is ornamental. They occupy the space, but do not participate in the discourse.
Brands are beginning to notice. A TikTok girl in head-to-toe Miu Miu can’t explain to you why it matters. A critic in last season’s trousers from Vestiaire Collective can. And in a post-attention economy, meaning cuts deeper than metrics.
What used to be PR strategy now reads as noise. The front row is no longer a marketing stunt. It’s returning to something older, quieter, and far more dangerous: A space for people who understand.
The influencer will still post from the show. But increasingly, they are not at the show. They are around it. Floating on the surface.
The real witnesses sit further back. Or at home, watching silently and taking notes.
VI. WHO COMES AFTER?
What replaces the influencer isn’t louder. It’s sharper and quieter.
We are entering the era of the cultural operator: not a trend forecaster, not an aesthetic archivist, not a content creator in the traditional sense. But someone who metabolizes culture and returns it with context.
They aren’t selling you anything. They’re reading, watching and writing. They don’t just wear the runway: they understand its lineage. McQueen wasn’t just “dark.” Raf wasn’t just “minimal.” They know what came before and why it had to come back.
This new class doesn’t necessarily go viral. They go deep. Their authority isn’t visibility, it’s discernment. They are part journalist, part theorist, part provocateur.
And yes, they might have less than 4,000 followers. But half of them are the people who actually shape fashion.
In an era drowning in sameness, they are the few who still edit. And editing, in 2025, is a revolutionary act.
VII. NO FUNERAL. NO BODY.
There will be no headline. No farewell post. No digital tombstone.
The influencer won’t even notice she’s gone. She’ll keep posting. Keep tagging. Keep dressing for a room that no longer looks up.
There’s no scandal. No fall from grace. Just absence.
The industry has already moved on. Not with anger. Not with grief. With indifference.
Because something only dies when it mattered. And this was never alive. Not really anyway.
