Shockingly, the prince didn’t call for the guard as he expected. Instead, he gestured for Eddie to come closer, beckoning with a gloved hand clad in fine leather.

As he drew near, Eddie raised an eyebrow. The prince had a chessboard set up halfway through a game. A quick glance around showed no one else around to play against.

Maybe he was trying to figure out how the pieces moved in private?

“If you’re looking for a job at the palace you’ve come to the wrong person. Try the kitchens instead.” With that, the prince turned his attention back to the board.

Eddie clutched at his makeshift disguise.

“I uh, have no need for a job, I am of noble blood!”

“No you’re not.”

“No, you’re not.” The prince finally moved a white pawn. He then got up and sat down on the black side of the board while pointing towards Eddie’s feet.

“Putting aside how worn your boots are, your footsteps are light and quick. The only nobles who walk with the same pattern are either away from the capitol for the season or taller than you. Except Sir Brenner, but Sir Brenner walks with a limp. Besides, your clothes do not bear the colors of any noble house in the region.”

“I...I could be visiting!” Eddie retorted, grasping at any thread he could to get out of this alive. The prince tilted his head. Eddie could have sworn the mask had taken on a smug expression in the last thirty seconds.

“Hmm, a visitor who was not present at this afternoon’s royal luncheon for the king and queen to interrogate? Or did you mysteriously fall ill during those exact hours.”

Eddie blinked. Was the prince mocking him? Before he could reply, Stephen moved quickly to ensnare his hand. Eddie’s heart beat out a wild staccato as the prince proceeded to slide his glove off and trace the calluses on his palm.

“No one of noble blood would work with their hands uncovered enough to grow these, would they stranger,” the prince said smoothly. His tone, so self-assured and full of himself, grated on Eddie’s nerves.

Stephen then lifted the edges of Eddie’s mask and pressed a finger into the space where his neck met his shoulder.

“Odd how your skin is burnt here too.” Eddie didn’t dare breath. This close, he could see the prince’s eyes peeking out from his mask. The last few rays of the setting sun caught shimmering flecks of gold and green as they crinkled in amusement.

“Let’s see. We’ve proven you’re not a noble. And the fact that you tried to continue with this honestly terrible disguise means you’re not in search of a job. Which just leaves the obvious: you want something from the Crown Fool. So tell me stranger, what do you wish for me to do for you?”

Xeno-titles are alternative/supplementary titles intended to replace the use of a more typical title. Often xeno-titles are derivative of the title they're supplementing, but not necessarily. They are also usually intended for use by/for GNC/LNC, nonbinary, xenic or otherwise queer individuals, but anyone can use them. They often have the same or a similar meaning to what they are supplementing, but are simply changing the language to something the user prefers.

Titles can include, but are not limited to: relationship titles, work or professional titles, formal titles, terms of address, gender titles, honorifics, etc.

They can include anything from emojis, abbreviations, references, jokes, to incorporating other languages.

My Newly Proposed Pro-ship Flag!

This flag is called the "deviate flag," or "deviant [proship] flag."

A new emoji code I have made to fit this flag is 🌤️🦋.

I made these flags because, to be honest, I don't connect with any other proship flags. I do like quite a lot of the flags, but I could never find one with a message I connected to the point I'd use the flag.

The meanings of the colours on the flag are as follows:

Dark green = Maturity & responsibility

Green = Creativity

Light green = Anti-abuse

Cream = The proship community as whole

Light brown = Respect for trauma survivors and those who use dark tropes in fiction to cope

Brown = Respect for artists in minorites

Dark brown = Respect for fandom history

I also chose natural colours because I thought it was a nice change of pace from all the cutesy-coloured flags! (Nothing wrong with cute, bright, colorful flags, though! I just don't personally prefer them.)

The emoji code (🌤️🦋) itself doesn't have a real meaning, I just thought it was cute.

However, over time, I've started to interpret it as this:

The sun and cloud (🌤️) represents how something so important could be hidden by something, but still exist. This is relevant because it's become apparent that modern fandom has been forgetting about early fandom culture and rules, even though these things haven't died in any way.

The butterfly (🦋) represents how one could start off as something sometimes seen as "weird" (referencing the caterpillar) only to turn into something seen as beautiful. This is relevant because I personally like to see it as how, in a lot of stories I've heard, many proshippers felt much happier and safer when they joined proship spaces (and left antiship spaces, if applicable).

The reason I chose to call it the "deviant (proship) flag" is because when I think of someone who is proship, I think of someone who is "deviant" (positive connotations) in what content they consume and create. I also think of someone who is responsible in the actions they take to share their art and interests, and has a maturity that is earned through being this sort of "deviant."

However, this flag recognizes not every proship person consumes "taboo" or "dark" content.

I have no real rules regarding this flag, just use it like you would a normal flag. Edits of this flag are allowed, and credit is appreciated but not necessary.

ROCK EMOJI RATING

I sent a rock emoji in Discord today and let me tell you i was stunned by what i saw. I needed to know if all rock emojis were that bad, or if it was a special stand-out. I won't spoil the answers, but here's my rating of ever rock emoji, as listed here: https://emojipedia.org/rock#designs

it looks like a de-saturated blob of chewed gum. That's not a solid object, that's goop. 3/10

WhatsApp (2020-2023)

I see what they're going for here- it certainly looks like a rock, and I appriciate the attempt at giving it a kind of crag-y nature to it, but to me it ends up looking a bit disjointed. The texturing is nice, I like the wavy lines on the side- i'm not sure if real rocks would have a pattern like that but I see what they're going for. 8/10

Next up, Microsoft,... OH microsoft baby what are you doing DOING

the first one was fine!!! It was so fine!!!! The shading is ok, and the thick black outline was really helping to define it as an object. Without the outline its hardly there. It's not even a unique shape its just a slightly wonky triangle, and the shading makes NO sense on the newer ones. I don't like it. the past is in the past, they're being rated for their current sins: 2/10

Microsoft 3D fluent (2023)

this looks like the texture for an iron nugget in Minecraft, which sure, iron is a type of rock, i guess. it also looks like the free to earn currency in a sci-fi NFT game. Still identifiable as a type of rock, i guess. 5/10

Samsung (2020-2023)

This one is nice- its a rock. I like the gloss, it seems polished, which is maybe a bit funny because its simultaneously polished but also a bit mossy at the bottom, but these are all aspects that rocks have, and thus that makes it a good stand in for the concept of a rock. 8/10

Google Noto Color Emoji (2020-2023)

Well, its a rock. I appreciate how it leans more into a warm grey as opposed to all the cool tone (or..straight up white????) rocks we've seen so far. My main issue is with the bit of shading in the center of it- I'm typing this on a computer and haven't seen this emoji in its native environment of being small on a phone screen, so I tried zooming out the webpage as far as it'd go (30%) and the shading certainly looks better small, but it still strikes me as a bit off- i wonder if it really needs to be there. Not a bad rock by any means though, 7/10

Noto Emoji Font (2023)

So, this is actually a black and white version of the previous emoji, and that makes me appreciate both more. I wish they followed the shape of the lines more with the color emoji, because here the shape is really spot on. It's both a rock and a mountain. 8/10

This isn't just a rock, this is a CHUNK of EARTH. it's got DETAIL, its got STRIPES. it's a nice fucking rock. 10/10

This looks like a chunk of ore from an old school RPG. This is ripped from Runescape (not actually). It's the only rock that's straight up green. It looks WORSE when its smaller. 7/10

Ok. I can't hate every single one of these kind of simplistic rock emojis that are just angular blobs of color...but with something as simple as a rock its just so hard to get it minimal in a satisfying way- but it's NOT impossible. This one isn't so bad, its just kinda...meh, I guess. 5/10

colorized Pictochat drawing. You could fight on this in Super Smash Bros. The last of the black outlined rocks (well, kinda)- though for some reason the lines don't fully connect. It almost looks like a face to me for some reason. 6/10

This looks like an unmoulded lump of clay- its even got divots that are roughly fingerprint shaped. Not bad though. 4/10

This looks like someone's 4th ever attempt at shading something realistically. Its an unblended circle, except it seems like they tried to blend a ,little bit in places and it looks...incredibly sloppy up close. what the fuck. 1/10

19. What's something your character might wear if they wanted to feel cute?

Miles has a long hooded cardigan type thing that suffices to dress up the plain shirt and pants he wears the rest of the time. It's soft but doesn't cling too much. It's been visibly/decoratively mended a few times. He DOES do fun things with his hair -- he has a lot of it, it's down to the middle of his back, and he usually wears it in a braided half-up or a big fluffy ponytail. Miles also sometimes wears a little eye makeup for special occasions. He has excellent eyelashes and he'll make that your problem.

24. What are/would be your character's top 5 most used emojis?

Miles loves emojis. He sends strings of 3-20 of the same one very often. His favourites are 🤨😊🫠🙃and 😎. He's the worst and most chaotic texter. He understands memes and uses them wrong on purpose. He is a NIGHTMARE.

14. Describe your character's bed.

Grady's bed is always very neatly made, hospital corners and all. She likes it that way.

She's got a white, gold, and green patterned cover that makes her really happy, and one (1) solitary and rather beaten up stuffed rabbit that she leaves sitting up against her pillows because she's sentimental about it. (Later, one of Nimbus's brothers will help her fix it up and it will eventually become the property of her first child.)

25. Think about somebody your character loves. What's something that person might do that upsets or irritates your character?

boy does Grady love her parents but also they diminish or dismiss basically everything she loves, cares about, or is good at. Xylitol and Binaural are, and I cannot stress this enough, incredibly emotionally neglectful. She loves them deeply, and knows they love her, but they're also just genuinely shitty parents who directly created Grady's confidence issues and the fact they love her doesn't excuse any of that at all.

10. Your character is looking in the mirror. What are they thinking?

It depends how old he is. If he's a teenager, he's probably worrying about his acne and his patchy ass baby transmasc beard and being a bit pudgy and refusing to think about why he's so concerned with his appearance (it's his wretched twunk of a bestie.)

As an adult, he's probably not thinking much of anything, other than possibly "I need a haircut." or "brushing my teeth." Richter simply doesn't think much about his physical appearance. His husband thinks he's handsome, which is pretty nice, but otherwise as long as he's presentable it's kinda whatever.

Nimbus, like most cats, is lactose intolerant, and relatedly can't actually taste sweet things very well. He will steal some of someone else's but otherwise he'll be drinking a coffee.

Cirrus will be dousing his in chocolate or coffee adjacent flavours. Cumulus will be doing the same, but with fruity flavours instead. Stratus will have one, maybe two carefully selected toppings, and if there's anything weird or unique on offer, he'll be trying it.

Miles likes green tea/matcha flavoured things where he can get them but if he can't he will be joining Nimbus in drinking a black coffee or a tea instead.

the documentary is called “blue whales: the return of the giants” bc its about the researchers trying to see if theres a sign of life of blue whales, particularly the babies!, in this region (which was a popular spot for hunting of blue whales back in the time) and when the orcas appeared, the researchers agreed that thats not a good sign because theyre the apex predator. but there are blue whales there! theyve returned and it was so 🥹

oh yea the babies always make me so :( like i saw this documentary of orcas stealing a baby humpback from its mom by following the swimming patterns of the mom humpback and the baby was confused so it didnt fight back! the narrators dont go into the details of what happened but it does get you a lil stumped yk

but yes this new development (because it was only released in may of this year) for orcas is so thrilling!! one of the diffs between bigg’s and residents i remember was where they swim. thing was, they swim in the same waters, what differed was the distance. idk which one swims farther than the other, so it also affects their diet and their hunting styles which, for a while, they thought was only caused by different cultures within each families, not bc theyre diff species!

masa has just like a completely normal black bra and sweats but since she was tiny shes desired just a huge pajama shirt n pajama pants. in pink and orange. with stars on em. so badly.

penthe wears a variety of hand-me-downs from sam, mostly from the 70's and all in the most horrible patterns ever. 90% of their morning headaches are derived from looking down and seeing the awful saturated greens and reds of their somehow oversized pajama shirt.theh wouldnt have it any other way heart emoji

lumpy has a totally plain grey tanktop and dark grey sweats and while he doesn't mind he does kinda wish he had something a little fluffier... and he deserves that smt. as a treat.

sunrise usually just goes to bed in his bomber jacket which is GROSS.... if he could have pjs's theyd just be like vintage furred once that not so coincidentally look exactly like if he made his bomber jacket into pj's.

lumpy feels "lazy" (as in, lets himself rest) any day he doesnt have work or many chores. even though he does let himself take enough breaks, admittedly its mostly just so he doesnt collapse at any of his many works, and he still feels pretty guilty about it. he treats plentiful rest as a guilty pleasure he doesn't deserve.

masa absolutely is. she busied herself w "chores" (sorting she has fun w) so she had an excuse to avoid her schoolwork as a kid and she now uses that same tactic to rightfully half-ass and avoid doing work for her shitty it job. sadly she still sometimes does the work shes asked to do... for just pennies a day we can save her

3: what chores/responsibilities does your muse avoid doing at all costs?

freya HATES stuff like doing the dishes, mowing the lawn.. anything that might mean getting her hands literally dirty. she has a huge issue when stuff gets under her fingernails. thankfully berro likes doing chores like that so she doesnt have to (until the day he moves out of course...)

lumpy gets a perfect 10 hours of sleep every day!

sunrise barely ever gets any sleep, even with all the booze he drinks. he's always exhausted (blames it on all the driving he does, to avoid thinking about how fucking depressed he is)

penthe gets anywhere from 2 to 17 hours of sleep and usually wakes up feeling at least Not Terrible. they go to their job at p much random times and get up and go to bed at also random times so it's honestly insane they aren't constantly sleep deprived...

5: once your muse gets started doing something important, do they drag their feet, take many breaks, and ultimately prolong the task? or do they work as quickly as possible, at the sacrifice of a quality job? or do they work efficiently without sacrificing quality?

sunrise, despite all his issues, has an amazing worth ethic and knows exactly how t pace himself while still getting work done. he'll march through it at his own pace but still get the job done around the same time (if not a lil faster) than most. he's like a puter/car whisperer...
