He walks past another microphone thrust into his face without even a first glance towards the media table that had been set up. He has a publicist for his new team at his side that says something placating to whatever question Andrew hadn’t been bothered to answer. He just wants to get this whole thing over with.

He doesn’t get why the fuck it is anything resembling a ‘news story’ that he’s transferring teams. His contract is up with the Chicago Pumas and now he wants to move somewhere that he won’t freeze his ass off. It’s not that deep. Atlanta is warmer than Chicago, and they’re willing to pay him more.

Totally random Digimon thought, but I feel like one of my more minor gripes ( which I have a number of, despite it being my favorite season ) with Tamers is that I kinda wish they gave a bit more time for Beelzemon to go off the deep end, and actually showed it.

We mostly just got shots of him riding around, and that one scene of killing Chrysalimon/Infermon, but I think it we had a few more scenes where he's rampaging across the Digital World, destroying Digimon, it'd be a bit more effective. Maybe have him go after some he could've otherwise left alone, something weaker, due to him slowly losing his shit, and show a bit more of his general mental state, etc..

Nothing much, even just a few extra scenes of him doing anything but driving would've been nice, though. Otherwise he just kinda does nothing at all for episodes after evolving lol.

Corrin and Takumi because Takumi was the first character that came to my mind with the "trust issues" theme. In another lifetime, he learns to trust Corrin, but in this one is a little too late for that.

What Worst? ^_^ WHTJWJEHR no but genuinely. I genuinely think she just suppresses The Living Shit out of herself and her negative emotions So Hard they simply are never shown. Because trust me when I say that the environment Azrael and V were raised in was just two things - gloominess and emptiness of the world and Death around all corners. These fuckers were intended to be raised Only And ONLY as living weapons so anytime she simply felt terrible about their lives, she'd do Anything not to think about it. And so She Won't!

Surely continuing to be the "endless ray of sunshine" character won't have any impact on her At All! ^_^

Though it may come as a surprise to many, Fuuta didn’t have a lot of experience talking to women. Back in university, when there was a guy he liked, it took him less than a day to think of the best way to say something to him (not that he’d ever actually do it – god, that’d be mortifying.) But women were an entirely different challenge. He’d never been able to come up with a single scenario where asking to hang out wouldn’t be met with a flat out rejection. And this case was no different. It had been months, and Fuuta still couldn’t even think of a game plan to approach Kotoko.

This did not, in fact, come as a surprise to Yuno, who decided she would offer her advice. Never mind Fuuta hadn’t asked for it; he needed it, and that’s what was important, right?

“Wrong.” Fuuta shook his head. “I am not saying that to her.”

Hi, honey,

It's been a little bit since my last letter---and let me tell you, there sure have been some new things here at the monastery. I swear it wasn't that long since I last talked to you, but maybe it has been? Time's a hell of a thing, ain't it.

A handful of moons ago, it was almost like some kind of mass exodus; a bunch of people disappeared, then came back after some time passed. Apparently it's a normal thing, but... it's really strange? I remember seeing something-or-other around the monastery asking for participants, I think... I don't know. It's all a little hazy. Apparently I could have gone, but there was too much to do and I decided against it. Lots of people came back with real bad sunburns.

I've got a pal, Lambert---he's the guy that consensually punched me, remember him?---and he'd gone off to wherever it was. He came back a completely different person. I'm talking new look, new attitude, new lease on life. I really wonder what happened to him over there, but I haven't had the chance to ask him yet. Baby, if you met Lambert, I know the two of you would catch on like a wildfire. He's fantastic!

Speaking of pals, I've made a few more since I last talked to you. One of my favorites is this guy named Matthias---I mean, guy's like an alternate me! He's huge, got short, orange hair, axe guy, and he's a mean fighter. When we first met, we did it the warrior's way. Ended in a tie, and that's while he had a problem with his leg! He's a lot more deadpan-looking than Lambert is, but he's his own brand of feisty. I hope I get to talk to him more; I think we've got some things in common.

There's a new wind blowing at the monastery right about now, and lots of people are getting involved. Heading out on missions, picking up odd jobs, or getting hired for real jobs, and that's just a few things off the top of my head. Hell, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so I picked up a job. It was... well, there'll be some instant portraits in here. You can figure it out from those. Damn near gave Diamant a heart attack.

I hope my birthday wasn't too quiet. I assume it'd have turned into a day of mourning, given how things went with Alexand... but I'd much rather people drink and be merry like they always did. I was finally able to take Alcryst out to drink, and Diamant took me out to drink. And that's not even mentioning all of the neat gifts I got; this dragon squirt Nils gave me a dragon warrior charm! And Lambert gave me a sword. A really nice sword! I think I'll hang the charm off of it... but then it might break. So what should I do? You were always good about practical customization, so do you have any ideas?

A girl I've never seen before gave me a stone for my birthday. It was pyrite, so she has to be from Brodia, right? Because why else would she give something like that to me...?

Also, Lapis said something interesting to me when she gave me her present. Something about being newly-included in people that are worried about my health and somesuch. Very weird.

That's probably enough yapping from me for one letter. Like I mentioned, I've put in some instant portraits again---me in uniform, me working at my other job, Diamant is there in one of them, and a few random ones of people I've met. Being here has really helped me talk to people my age and people not my age. It's a real blessing.

I think about you every morning, afternoon, and night, my dearest. Even if you still don't believe this is real... that's all right with me. All I worry about is if you're healthy and happy. Hopefully Diamant and Alcryst have been writing you as well, but if they haven't, I swear that I've never seen them shining brighter or living healthier. They're doing just fine, and so am I.

Write me soon, sapphire. Even if it's just one word, it's one word from my loveliest gemstone.

honestly thought i would have a lot more to say about adventure 02 but like

i just finished episode 50 and the jist of my thoughts really are "yeah this is better than i remembered it being"

overall, an extremely ambitious follow up to digimon adventure, balancing a lot of plot points and an attempt at having a more cohesive storyline than "bad guy of the arc but suddenly it's apocalymon." in 02, most of the bad guys lead from one to another, in a way that seems much more intentionally thought-out than everything up until the dark master's arc in 01. even the one-off antagonists (dark ocean and demon's crew) played into the larger narrative, and weren't necessarily treated as one-offs so much as chances to expand the scope of the lore and use it to the narrative's benefit.

(although i do think it's a bit sad we never saw follow up on demon going "oh, you all are going to regret sending me to dagomon's ocean SOOOOO much")

also a lot of lore. so much lore. 01 introduced the fact that homeostasis has a bunch of agents that look like gennai, but a2 kept suggesting they're all copies (put a pin in that for my tri rewatch, much as i am loathe to rewatch that one). there wasn't any elaboration, but it is an interesting idea, and unfortunately i understand why it was kind of hastily noted and dismissed (the world tour arc had a lot to get to).

also the dimensional makeup of the digimon franchise got a lot more fascinating in 02. in 01 gennai mentioned that the gate could lead to all kinds of different places, but 02 actually takes that a step further in the lore, showing us the dark ocean and the dimension of dreams (even mentioning that the latter is pulled from by the digital world).

but it does maintain some of the problems i had with the original adventure in that i do wish more of the kids got to see their mega forms. :/

(i know tamers fixes that somewhat, then frontiers backpedals, but. you can't get me to rewatch frontiers lmao.)

furthermore, it does kind of suck that we're still left to wonder about ken's adventures in the digital world. we see ryo and millenniumon in his flashbacks to the adventures, but for audience members who missed out entirely on the wonderswan games, it makes it so we have to trust wormmon's word that ken was a kind person in the past. it's shown to an effective degree in the show, especially with his flashbacks to his childhood after the chimeramon arc.

it also makes narrative sense that they didn't feel the need to go over a story that's already happened, because that likely would have taken too long for 02, which already had so much going on. but maaaaaan. i do not want to play the wonderswan games, frfr (though i know there are fan translations out there for 'em).

i do love ken's arc though, as frustrating as him struggling with self-doubt is to watch. i'm glad the writers didn't make it seem too easy for him to forgive himself, because that's hard even if you weren't the vessel for like. All That Shit. i'm giving this boy a weighted blanket and hot tea.

tl;dr: compared to the oftentimes fever-dream like qualities of 01, 02 feels a lot more narratively focused in its story, and i think that really works to its favor. not a flawless season, but none of the digimon seasons are. a successful sequel to 01, much more so than i remembered from my last rewatch of the dub in 2020.

paris doesn't think they've ever been more pissed off in their entire life. they've also never been so desperate to prove themselves, to find a way to up and impress orla, who has been snickering at them for the past five minutes. what began as an arm wrestle has now mutated into a full on, whole - body wrestling match in what they suppose has become their joint living room, [ they've been crashing there long enough for that to be the case, at least. ] and paris is somewhere between fighting back and getting their ass handed to them.

orla's muscles are bigger than theirs. orla has more combat experience, whatever the fuck that means. and orla is also a seasoned rock climber, which doesn't matter much in this context, but annoys the fuck out of paris anyway. why does she have to be so much better at everything ? and why the fuck do they care so much that they read as cooler than her ?

as their back hits the cushions of the couch [ per orla launching them onto it with ease, ] they shake their head and attempt to collect their thoughts. maybe they can drop to the floor and kick a leg out from under her. the element of surprise, or something.

before they can move, however, orla's full body weight [ all that muscle! ] comes down atop their lap. an involuntary, indignant gasp escapes their lips, and paris furrows their brow. ❝ — what the fuck ?! ❞ is all they can say, especially as her thighs tighten around her legs, more effectively trapping her there. paris' hands find her waist in an attempt to have purchase, but she doesn't move much beyond that.

she should try and launch her off. she should try and send her toppling over onto her back, but she can't for the life of her focus on anything but the way orla's middle is pressing against her stomach. orla takes that chance to pin their shoulders against the cushions, and the momentum of the past five or so minutes begins to slowly drain out of the room. what's left is heavy breathing, two chests rapidly rising and falling as paris tries to avoid eye contact with the one who's very clearly bested her.

❝ are you fuckin' . . . happy now ? ❞ they have to keep talking, they think, because their lips are absolutely itching to do something else right now. ❝ i wasn't even trying. i wasn't even trying, i was just playing, i wasn't bein' serious with it, ❞
