should I get one of those super realistic crochet flower patterns and make it with worsted weight yarn instead of crochet thread to make a giant flower? and if so, what flower?

The quiet horror Barry feels upon realizing Eobard had full access to him, no matter where he is or what he's doing, this entire time, he just *chose* not to act on his threats, and the second wave of terror when he realizes it's just a *yet*

'Nonetheless for all your valor, I say again: "what know ye of death?" To you it may be in pain, it may be bitter and a loss—but only for a time, a little taken from abundance, unless I have been told untruth. For ye know that in dying you do not leave the world, and that you may return to life.
'Otherwise it is with us: dying we die, and we go out to no return. Death is an uttermost end, a loss irremediable. And it is abominable; for it is also a wrong that is done to us.'
i've seen takes that aegnor eventually departs from the halls after making peace with his parting from andreth, but imo it's so much more fitting that he chooses to never be reborn in aman and remains in mandos for all eternity (or at least until the end of arda marred). andreth here points out what she perceives as one of the differences between death for elves and death for men: that elves may be re-embodied and live their lives anew, while for men death is the absolute end, from which they have no chance to return. but aegnor voluntarily rejects the ability of the elves to live anew, he voluntarily refuses the chance to return, because to him life has no meaning without andreth whom he loves so deeply. in a way, his death -- being forced to leave beleriand and in doing so being forced to leave andreth forever -- is an absolute end for him

maggie's livetweet reread has been going around again, and it got me thinking about Blue being dead-sexual aldkfjgh
it was a joke, obviously, but it got me thinking about how much it could've genuinely fucked Blue up to have love/kissing/intimacy/death all twisted together from such an early age. like, she couldn't even THINK about something like sex without the prerequisite of "your partner is dead before you get that far", can you imagine??
she tries to just put the entire thing from her mind, she resolves to just never kiss anyone, never get close, never have physical intimacy of any kind, in the hopes of avoiding this fated fucking murder of her hypothetical true love.
but that's easier said than done. you're not exactly in control of your thoughts, esp during fucking puberty, and the subconscious finds ways to process shit no matter how hard you try to repress it. dreams are where you face your greatest desires and your darkest fears, and for Blue those are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.
she's had more sex nightmares than Ronan has, lmao. she's got a libido, no matter how hard she tries to suppress and ignore it, and it bubbles up inside her the way it does all so-inclined teenagers (and many who aren't so inclined, hell, i've had plenty of bizarre sex dreams for someone with no irl desire for sex). there's no controlling the fantasy when she craves it so bad, but there's no denying the reality either, the fear and horror living in the back of her mind, inescapable. so many dreams of touching and being touched and pulling back to find a faceless corpse.
then she meets Gansey, her confirmed true love, the boy who WILL DIE if she ever kisses him. and the problem is that she wants to!!! she wants him, and the corpses in her wet dreams have a face now, and she doesn't want that but also she does and there so many wires crossed and she shouldn't be waking up from these dreams wet and shaking and on the verge, but she is and she can't stop it.
the uncomfortable fact of the matter is that the only times Blue has ever come, she's been thinking of a dead man.

daniel copying gap’s technique from jinrang made me think about a certain someone …
Tumblr media Tumblr media
… and his mocking mimic of techniques!
jinyoung’s speech about copy without talent seems to indicate that gitae has tried, and failed to emulate gap before (chapter 468)
Tumblr media
it might be because gitae isnt truly copying, but rather crudely mimicking the attacks
however, a talented copy is also shown to fail in chapter 544 and here jinrang explains why:
Tumblr media
gap’s strength relied on his desire to protect, which jinrang possesses and can therefore properly tap into the ‘technique’
its also shown through jake’s flashback in chapter 466, which enabled him to knock out drugged samuel (lmao) through his wish to protect
Tumblr media
if there is a will, then there is a way
the protection of others is the greatest motivator (power of friendship, but with gangs!)
gap and jinrang have a desire to protect, but does gitae?
no, absolutely not!
and that will be his downfall :(

i find it unfortunate how you (and by proxy many other people) get asked why you don't like heavymedic when compared to other ships. of course it's different with you given who you are vs someone else who really just likes engiemedic or gentle surgery, but i still wish you weren't interrogated and bothered when you simply just prefer another ship over the big popular one :[
ahah i appreciate it anon, youre one of the few who gets it. i agree it is unfortunate and rather annoying at times. but at the same time i do understand that is likely the most popular ship in the tf2 community by far, and there are bound to be new people coming to my blog every so often that arent familiar with my situation nor my stance on the matter and thus are genuinely curious why im not participating in this thing that almost everyone else is. and sadly for every polite person with a genuine question there are also going to be a handful of others that do not know how to behave themselves. among other things heh but i agree, it is unfortunate.
fear not though, annoying as it may be im perfectly capable of handling it! the unpleasant anons get deleted right away, i dont care to waste my time on them ^^

it's just that i reeeally don't think it would have been that hard to find a solution to the timeline problem that didn't involve condemning the main character to an eternity trapped in his own solitary personal hell

Some thoughts on Nick Buckley-spoilers for Peril at End House and ABC Murders!
I really think Nick Buckley is up there with Franklin Clarke as one of the most diabolical murderers Poirot ever encounters. The sheer amount of straight up lying to Poirot’s face she does-lying to everyone! And the simulation of grief! She’s truly so so scary.
Rereading the book is always such a trip. There’s so much she does and says that is just pure performance. She planned everything out so far in advance and so meticulously. It’s bonkers. If Poirot hadn’t happened to be on vacation and run into her she would have fully gotten away with it, too, and probably married George Challenger and lived a long, happy life at End House. Absolutely chilling.
Everybody say thank you to Aggie for giving us a cold blooded female master murderer who used a gun instead of a so-called “woman’s weapon” like poison. Extremely good stuff!

This is a very Choose Your Battles kinda thing (and also perhaps a Chamerion Stay In Your Lane kinda thing), but I do frequently wish that t*rfs hadn’t absolutely poisoned any discussion about gendered socialization because that’s clearly and inarguably a thing; it’s just that their takes on it are incredibly fucking stupid

im watching Terror again since my sis was interested and, as far as survival horror narratives with a sense of inevitability and character driven tragedy, i can’t help but keep feeling a weird (misplaced?) sense of pride that Ganja-tai was by most metrics generally doing a much better job at Absolutely Everything than the british navy
