How do you feel about Milsiril? Like what do you think of her interactions between the canaries, her goals, her intentions and morality? I keep seeing people with mixed feelings about her, some saying she's just toxic or morally grey or doing bad but with good intentions or that she's just a mentally ill and literally so much more, also with the comic about Otta calling Milsiril love for her children/Kabru as just love for a pet, I always saw people take it at face value and say yes, Milsiril did love them more as pets instead of children, did she take up raising/adopting non-elf children because she felt like none of them could ridicule her like the elves did because they didn't know what an elf was supposed to be like (and also because they were children) or did she inherently view them as less? I mean the canaries and I'm pretty sure almost all of the cast in dungeon meshi have some sort perspective on different races especially because how they were taught about them, i just think it was interesting to finally see someone interpret it as Otta just misinterpreting Milsiril, I'm just really interested in her, i think shes neat, sorry for the rant!
Ooh, well to preface this, I hadn't really realized Milsiril was such a controversial character before my last post, I kinda live under a rock. She's really not a character I had given much thought besides what I wrote there before it, but I can do my best to express what I have thought since, with sources for it. I'm not sure what order to go thru so I'll just go by manga appearances and then extras, this will probably be quite a long post
This is the first time she shows up in the manga (ch55) Kabru is wondering about what future they might have if the elves take them into custody because of the ancient magic, he thinks about Milsiril as a get out of jail card, and mentions "There's a chance they would make us become permanent resident of the elven lands." with the image of Milsiril holding him. I don't think that means she would be the one to not let them leave, since this would probably be an legal issue, and the fact Milsiril lives away from other Elves. It does set up that Milsiril is quite overprotective tho, with Kabru's reaction to her teary hug. (rest is under a cut)
The next time she shows up is in ch61 right after Kabru falls down the dungeon along with Mithrun, he faints and has this flashback
She's being her overbearing self treating Kabru's small injury as if its something you need to be in bed for, hand feeding him like he's a toddler, and when he insists he wants to learn how to fight and be strong like her, she hugs him revealing to us for the first time her arm scars, she's cleary in distress too, so you wonder "what has happened to her?"
It continues in the next pages, as she tells him to stay there, where it's safe and there's cake, and describes the bad things he might encounter. Until he tells her he will go with or without her help
Honestly this is a Kabru we don't see often, this is the version of him that is usually in thought bubbles, he's blowing out in frustation over being smothered and demanding straight up what he wants, instead of trying to manipulate Milsiril, very blunt for him. Milsiril seems to flip a switch into battle mode, when she decides to train him for real.
I really thought this was funny, the visual of these cuddly toys and this Mom that was being so soft just a second ago completely flipping into something menacing is very amusing to me. She says "I'll give you an exhaustive, thorough training in how to use a sword... until you finally decide that you're ready to give up." although it sounds cruel, it seems she really trained him as best she could to make sure he would survive the dungeon. If he couldn't take the training with her there was no way he would be able to take on the dungeon, but he could, so much so that he managed to make her let him go. I can see this being seen as her trying to prevent him from going but to me it seems more like some tough love from a traumatized war veteran in this case.
The last thoughts he has is admitting his Mom was right, "Not only were there plenty of traps, monsters, and malice... but there were times when I felt so hungry and cold that I couldn't stand it."
And he concludes with "I never once thought that I wanted to go back there. That room where I could eat all the cake that I wanted..." While I can understand the interpretation that he means he would rather go thru all this than go back, perhaps cause he hated it there, I think it's rather a statement to how committed he is to defeating the dungeon, the visuals show him in rubble vs him in a soft big bed, the rough reality he fought to be able to face and the comfyness of what his life could be. Plus is mirroring exactly what Milsiril said to him. Admitting she was right about the bad things but that he won't give up for the safe easy life he had.
After that visuals of Milsiril are used while Kabru tries to sus out Mithrun but she shows up again in Mithrun's backstory.
Here she's straight up called Gloomy, which wasn't really the version of her we saw so far, gotta remember this is also how Mithrun saw her and that she was called gloomy as a way of bullying. Kabru mostly cuts off her part in the story until the end, when she's the one to find Mithrun after he was eaten by the demon
She doesn't really care much for Mithrun as we see in some extras, and she was ready to mercy kill him, but she is also the one to spare his life. This could be seen as her thinking he can still be of use, and it's how it sounds with how Kabru tells the story, but I do think this was also a merciful act, Mithrun was in rehabilitation for 20 years after being saved, by the time he was actually useful for anything Milsiril had already left the canaries and adopted Kabru.
Now for extras... About Mithrun/The Canaries, Milsiril was cleary someone that hated the people around her. This is her extra in the Adventurer's Bible

Milsiril seems to be the type that hates "popular kids" so to say, her description says she was bullied by other elves for being so introverted so I believe she holds a grudge against people like Mithrun that seem to have succeeded where she failed. But realizing he was a twisted person like her seemed to make her feel more sympathetic towards him, that's why I think she really did act with mercy when she saves Mithrun, he's now someone she sees as similar to her, she sees he also suffered like her
Her decription also mentions she left the canaries specifically because she was disgusted with how the Utaya situation was dealt with. Yet it seems like she came back to help Mithrun with his rehabilitation once she quits.
There's an interpretation to be made that she did this only to get "revenge" on the demon since she just saw the destruction of Utaya, and that she's using him. On the other hand maybe she wants to help him find a motivation to live, she's no longer a canary and she has time to actually help him now. I don't know which one is the truth but it's not obviously something self-serving if you ask me. Especially in the context that right before this scene Milsiril admits she wishes they could have talked before.
My interpretation of her relationship with the canaries and other elves is that she's someone depressed that was mistreat for her 'quirky' side, the dolls are clearly one of the ways she used to cope with anxiety/depression but it only caused her to be bullied by her own kin, she's the daughter of an important family and it's shown in other extras, including one about Mithrun, that nobles often send out the kids they don't want around to become canaries. It's an easy way to get rid of someone undesirable and I think it was the case for Milsiril. (Pattadol even assumes her parents love her less than her sisters for sending her to join the canaries).
No wonder than that now that she's finally free from the canaries she chose to seek her own happiness away from the society she felt she could never fit into, she clearly likes to take care of children too, I think it's mean to assume she only likes them because she feels superior to them when there's no indication that this is the case.
And I don't think it's a coincidence she's so overprotective of Kabru after Utaya, it's literally the tragedy that was the breaking point for her, and he's a surviving small child from that tragedy, Milsiril cares about Kabru and wanted him to have a comfortable safe life after everything he went thru...
This ended up getting way too long so I'll make second part tomorrow about the rest of the extras and Kabru, and some other things I've seen said about Milsiril, but to answer the questions...
I don't think she treats her children as pets, Otta is just salty she was called out for dating like Leo Dicaprio.
Every single dungeon meshi character can be called morally grey because they all have flaws that in our world can be considered unforgivable, but they don't live in our world. To me Milsiril is doing her best in the context she lives in.
Who even is neurotypical in dungeon meshi, Milsiril is yet another flavour of a neurodivergent traumatized character among so many.
I believe she thought of the other canaries, especially Mithrun, as the same type of people that were cruel to her, probably because some of them really were, but that she generalized it to the point she thinks of all of them as bad by default. You can only get hurt so many times before you assume everyone will hurt you.

Past Life
This has absolutely nothing to do with my au, it’s just a little blurb that my brain was making up about a fake Life Series Season
Titled “Past Life”, everyone groups up ahead of time in order to coordinate. Because in this season, they get to sort of emulate past seasons or even past smps. This gives players the chance to have their skins ready from the get-go should they choose to have a themed skin.
People decide to make groups based on a season or SMP they’re each considering doing.

Team Evo:
-Pearl in her classic skin, except adds a hidden watcher/Evo logo onto it
-Grian changes his sweater to green, adds a hidden watcher/Evo logo onto it
-BigB in his classic skin, except adds a hidden watcher/Evo logo on it
-Martyn adds sunglasses and a badge to his skin, as well as a hidden watcher/Evo logo
-Jimmy adds sunglasses and a badge to his skin, as well as a hidden watcher/Evo logo
Team Empires:
-Lizzie as the Ocean Queen
-Joel as the Mazelean King (sorry if I misspelled it)
-Gem as the Head Wizard (sorry if I got the title wrong)
-Scott as Ruler of Rivendell
Team Secret Life:
-Cleo as a human
-Scar in his sunflower skin, changes to poppy/lilac one at his red life
Team Last Life:
-Bdubs in last life skin
-Etho
-Skizz (changes to red life skin at red)
-Tango in his classic skin
Team Hermitcraft:
-Impulse in his season 10 cyberpunk skin (changes to monochrome at red)
-Mumbo in his season 8 waffled-hair skin (changes to “moon big” skin at red)
-Ren in his season 9 diamond RenTheKing skin (changes to classic skin at red)
Some people choose to act like they did with the skins they chose (especially Martyn/Jimmy/Team Empires) but they don’t have to.
I’d imagine some pretty funny moments of Lizzie and Scott trying to get Jimmy to come and join them since they had somewhat close relationships with Empires Jimmy, and Martyn warding them off because that’s his fellow officer.
Do I know how the life mechanic would work in this or what the other gameplay mechanics would be? No, not really. I honestly just went into this thinking it’d be a fun idea. Especially having to put Joel and Scott on the same team, giving team BEST a second chance, and most importantly and dear to me, an Evo team up.
Evo SMP my beloved- I’m proud to say I watched Evo from start to finish as it got posted, it’s got a lot of nostalgia for me. (Mostly Grian’s pov tbh, but also a lot of Martyn, some Netty, and some Salem. I definitely didn’t watch all of them-)
But yeah, like I said, just a little blurb and thought I had earlier today. Gotta let your mind wander sometimes so that you don’t get stuck in a creative block when working on a bigger/longer project!

Wild Life Session 4 smallidarity thoughts (+ some Scar and Lizzie)
See it was all fine, nothing to worry about!! Joel couldn't bring himself to kill Jimmy, he barely even harmed him. I'm pretty sure he shot him just once (after Jimmy trampled their crops so. fair)? Joel calmed down, he rebuilt his car, everything is fine. He says at the start that he's wary of Jimmy because of him going after Joel last time, and that's about it for the time being
Jimmy dies and Joel makes a deal out of it and calls him a muppet. As per usual. Meanwhile Jimmy is still adamant to get at Joel whilst Scar tries to deter him because they want to be an alliance
He and Jimmy meet up at some point after their brief interaction at the start where Joel shot him, and they just banter. And Gem and Scar are just standing there like "guyss we're a family come on" meanwhile Joel and Jimmy's exchange goes as follows: Jimmy: "you're the ones with tasty lives!" Joel: "yeah bet you wish you could have a chunk of me!" "Oh I'm having a chunk out of you!" "Yeah and you know where to take that chunk out of!" "Oh I'm gonna take it! I'm taking it!" "You should!" And then Gem and Scar tell them to break it up and Joel goes "we're just flirting!!" ? what the fuck? Genuinely WHAT are they talking about. is this an innuendo of some sort. is this another ambiguous smallidarity sex scene sorry who said that
Jimmy gets a double kill (in the most adorable way btw. The way he weasels his way in there and backs off and comes back to try again all crouched. animal) and goddd people hyping him up is so so sweet. He deserves this. He's also a little bit evil, he's getting the murder rush but I'm happy for him. He needs to kill more people, he needs to get this out of his system, he deserves this, things need to get worse before they get better. ANYWAY Scar all "that was the greatest kill ever on the life series" is so cute. And man I gotta agree. There's more unique and funny and impressive kills but I would not mind calling this the best just for the fact that it's Jimmy. He's competent, he can do shit like this, but it feels like most everyone and the world is continuously against his survival, but here he is... my son...
And then Joel coming up to congratulate him... Really blummin cute. In Joel's POV also, he says "I went to congratulate Jimmy and we had a moment" which I wager he might be referring to the creeper incident as 'the moment' but that'd make no sense to call it that. With that tonation. Why did he say it like that. Stop being cute
But yeah Scar tries to blow Joel up with creepers only for Joel to save him from his own creeper and he's so casual about it. He is incredibly kind to the bamboozlers, it's really cute...
And then Jimmy does it!! He gets Joel!! And he gets him real good!! And can you believe that the first person to kill either of the family duo is Jimmy, of all people. Scott has died by this point too and Jimmy is the one to make a dent in the full 6-life alliance. Crazy. I'm so proud of him. It was seriously really good too, see, when Jimmy puts his mind to something and is able to focus he excels, he really does. And Joel, oh Joel is such a good sport about it. He keeps saying how it was good and fair and that he still wants an allyship with him. Tells him "welcome back to green" aww. And they make a truce, Jimmy got it out of his system and now they can be friends and go kill other people instead and Joel is proud of him... Jimmy "Joel, I finally got you, so I will stop now, so let's do the perfect dap" and then they both count down and clap their hands to simulate slapping palms. Awesome. All of Joel and Jimmy is just really cute this time around. Very happy about them being a more proper alliance now, but we'll see if it sticks... Joel can only be so mean to Jimmy at this point though I don't think he has it in him to betray him or anything lol. Can't speak for the rest of them but not too worried for the smallidarity, it's a plentiful crop...
Also a very important exchange between Lizzie and Jimmy at some point: "I just finangled a load of diamonds off of Joel" "Oh? How did you do that?" "I asked him just really nicely" (lie btw she was moreso extorting Joel) "Oh, that doesn't work when I... I guess... you are his wife, I guess..." "Yeah..." "Lucky for some I guess- right (unrelated topic)" I'm not 100% confident that's what Jimmy said at the end, it's a bit hard to make out but. what? Hello?
I also extend gratitude towards Lizzie for being so nice and supportive of Jimmy, she was the one to suggest the cobweb creeper trap that ended up taking Joel out, but she also insisted that he drink a health restoration stew beforehand in case anything went wrong. Jimmy didn't end up doing so (he was full) and Lizzie is all "why?" and "something could have gone wrong". man. Nice to him...
#blabber#smallidarity#trafficshipping#The “Im having a chunk out of you” and “I guess you're his wife. lucky for some..." conversations are gonna torment me. hello

Hi! :)
Could you please do a funny/witty/bantery rec list?
Looking more so for writing tone, but dialogue would ofc also be okay!
Thank you so much x
Hi there! I have a reclist for witty!Draco, but here are some witty fics I really love. They are such fun reads I remember exactly which scenes made me laugh out loud. In terms of writing tone, 4 authors whose sense of humor always hit the mark for me are astolat, shiftylinguini, blamebrampton and iota. Enjoy!
Tense by Faith Wood (E, 3k)
Harry and Draco have sex. Very, very slowly. Seriously, this is, like, 3K of penetration.
Never Gonna Give You Up by InnerLilith (E, 5k)
Five times Harry rickrolls Draco and one time Draco gets him back.
Game On by @pennygalleon (T, 5k)
Draco blows Harry a kiss and the press goes nuts. Harry suggests they use this to their advantage.
Matched Set by astolat (E, 6k)
“No one asked you to look, did they?” Draco said, eyes glittering and intent on Harry’s face—like he’d just wiped off the years and turned back in time to when their greatest ambition in life had been to knock the other off his broom in front of the school and grab the Snitch first, before they’d both gone to war and come back with scars.
Up The by @shiftylinguini (E, 7k)
“I feel I need to point out,” Draco kissed gently over Harry’s Adam’s apple, “that this is the most Gryffindor approach to conception that could possibly exist.”
draco malfoy's substitute murder service by @oknowkiss (E, 10k)
When Harry joins the Curse Breakers shortly after his twenty-fifth birthday, he’s surprised to find himself assigned to the Department of Creatures, Cryptids, and Associated Calamities.
The Loathly Worm by Selden (E, 12k)
When Draco Malfoy is forced to go undercover among the remaining Death Eaters in the aftermath of the war, the last person he expects to find there is Harry Potter.
Party of Two by fireflavored (E, 13k)
Drinking, sex, and a total misreading of the concept of fuck buddies.
keep it down, orphaned (E, 13k)
Malfoy’s an inconsiderately loud roommate and Harry’s over it.
An Act of Kindness for One Harry Potter by a Sympathetic Draco Malfoy by 0idontknow0 (E, 15k)
As Draco leaned on the wall to wait for them to get dressed, he could not help feeling like he had done a very kind thing by disrupting them. Someone should give Potter a better rogering than that sorry sod had. The man had saved the bloody world—okay, mostly Europe—the least someone could do was give him a proper shag.
Stupid Love by @the-sinking-ship (E, 17k)
Harry Potter, how does Draco Malfoy hate thee? Let me count the ways.
Heartlines by @sorrybutblog (T, 22k)
Just as Draco Malfoy's life seems to be getting back on track, the magic at Malfoy Manor is spinning out of control. Auror partners Harry Potter and Angelina Johnson are assigned to the case and quickly find that nothing about the situation is obvious. The flare ups are unpredictable at best, downright dangerous at worst, and why has a Hogwarts first year gone missing at the same time?
Little Red Courgette by blamebrampton (T, 31k)
When this season's purple courgettes are woefully thin, Draco Malfoy thinks it amounts to small beans. Next thing he knows, the Department of Standards is over-run with leeks, Brussels sprouts all sorts of legislative difficulties, and somebody appears to have put a roquette under Harry Potter. Can Draco seize a marrow victory? Or will his plans for peas be squashed?
Clouds That Veil the Midnight Moon by @drarrytrash (E, 36k)
According to Harry’s personal narrative regarding the incident, he’d hooked up with Draco Malfoy for purely self-destructive reasons, or out of convenience, or by some unlucky accident. Looking at him, sprawled in the moonlight, Harry is devastated to recall that he’d hooked up with Draco Malfoy because he’s hot.
Bite Me, Hate Memes by pir8fancier (E, 44k)
Draco Malfoy is incensed to realize that someone is trying to usurp his position as the premier Harry Potter hater.
Rookie Moves by peu_a_peu (E, 75k)
Aurors Potter and Malfoy crack the case.
The Liars Department by @dorthyanndrarry (T, 103k)
This is a story about Harry meeting up with Draco Malfoy four years after the war. And a story about Harry, well, not hating his job per say, but it's not like he has much to compare it to and it seemed fine. His whole life seemed fine. Then Malfoy came along with and his flashy suits and fast car making everything seem dull in comparison, and Harry... Harry couldn't just leave well enough alone.

Top 5 Disney's Hades Appearances

In Greek Mythology, Hades - Lord of the Underworld - was typically envisioned as a more benign entity. He wasn’t a pure saint, of course, but neither were any of the other Greek Gods: figures like Zeus, Aphrodite, Athena, Poseidon, and so on arguably did many and much more terrible things than Hades did. Despite this, in most modern interpretations, Hades is depicted as a malevolent character, more akin to Christian iconography of the Devil than anything else. It’s hard to say where exactly this trend started and why…but by far, the most influential incarnation to use this idea is Disney’s take on the God of the Dead.
While the actual film “Hercules” seems to be a sort of hit-and-miss movie for a lot of people, virtually everyone agrees that Hades - the main antagonist of the picture - is among Disney’s greatest villains. Originally and, to this day, almost completely portrayed by James Woods, Disney’s Hades has very little to do with the mythological Lord of the Dead, but he’s definitely a very memorable and entertaining bad guy. A smooth-talking, scheming, smarmy character who behaves more like a stereotypical agent or a sleazy car salesman than anything else, Hades follows a long-standing tradition of Disney Villains who are both threatening and VERY funny. He’s a great example of how you can make a villain a credible threat AND make them humorous at the same time: virtually everything Hades says has a comic bend to it, but you never once doubt that he can be a menace, if only due to the sheer power he has as a literal God. As a result of not only his popularity, but also his status AS a God (pretty rare among Disney baddies, to say the least), Hades has become an extremely frequently-featured figure among the company’s Rogues Gallery of animated villains. Much like Scar, while there isn’t AS much of him out there as some other, older characters, like Maleficent or Captain Hook, he’s still got an impressive number of appearances, and is usually depicted as a pretty impressive figure in all of them. So, just like all three of those aforementioned villains (and others), I thought it would be fun to go over some of my favorite appearances the character has had since his cinematic debut. This is gonna be a shorter list than some of those, but hopefully the choices made will be satisfactory. With that said, here are My Top 5 Appearances of Disney’s Hades!

5. Villains Tonight!
This campy, comedic, farcical stage production from the Disney Cruise Lines is now a thing of the past, which is sort of a shame: I would have loved a chance to see it live, properly. Hades is the main character of the story: at the beginning of the play, it’s revealed that he has decided to retire from villainy, and is reforming the Underworld into a happier place. This isn’t out of any ACTUAL desire for redemption, mind you: he’s just sick of Hercules constantly getting on his case, and has decided that if he can’t beat ‘em…ehhhh, he won’t join ‘em, but he’s not gonna bother trying anymore. However, Hades learns from the Fates that, apparently, he NEEDS more evil in the Underworld, or else he’ll lose his status as God of the Dead. Since, at this point, that’s really all Hades has left, he decides to try and bring various villains onto the scene - with the help of his minions, Pain and Panic - to make the Underworld evil again. While something of an acquired taste (and Hades costume is…WOW), I actually really like this show; it’s my kind of silly and has a wonderfully ironic sense of humor in places. It really shows, in its own way, what makes so many of Disney’s Villains great: you kind of find yourself rooting for Hades, and other characters in the show, even though none of them are up to any good. It’s also worth noting this is one of the few cases where the Hades character ISN’T played by James Woods. On that note…
4. The Version from Once Upon a Time AND Idia Shroud, from Twisted Wonderland.
These two reimaginings of the character (who is, himself, already a drastic reimagining of a classical figure…reimagined-ception here) both take the famous villain in their own unique directions, while having some interesting ties back to the original Disney portrayal. I felt bad leaving either one of them out of the running, and I like them both about the same, so I ultimately decided, “Screw it, I’ll just lump ‘em together.” In “Once Upon a Time,” Hades is played by actor Greg Germann, and is the main antagonist for the second half of Season 5. This version combines elements of the Disney character with the original Greek myths, and a few original touches of its own. Overall, though, Germann’s Hades sticks true to a lot of the takes found in the Disney animated version: hair that sometimes erupts into flames, a bit of a temper he has to keep under control, and a sort of con-artist flair and swagger in how he talks and carries himself. Meanwhile, Idia Shroud (voiced in Japanese by Koki Uchiyama) is the Hades-analogous character for Twisted Wonderland, which features a number of characters inspired by Disney Villains. Idia is interesting in that he goes in a VERY different direction: most of the time, he’s a reclusive, anti-social, EXTREMELY shy shut-in. He’s a stereotypical geek and gamer, with a lot of niche or quasi-niche interests, who literally gets scared of breathing too loudly. However, underneath this highly timid demeanor, he hides a fierce, snarky sense of wit that’s very similar to Hades’ own, and shows more of that dark side under extreme circumstances. I love both characters and how they reinterpret elements from both mythology and the animated film, and like I said, it felt wrong to leave either one of them out entirely. So, they get a tie here; take them each for what they are worth.

3. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.
Hades is the main antagonist of this interactive attraction at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The premise of “Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom” is that Hades is plotting to - what else? - take over the world. To this end, he begins using his power to resurrect and unite various other Disney Villains to help him with his plan. He calls on all the big guns, such as Maleficent, Scar, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, and more. The players take on the role of apprentices to Merlin, who sends them off on a mission to explore the Park and defeat all these villains, so as to stop Hades in his diabolical scheme. I love how Hades is chosen to be the head honcho of the Disney Villains in this attraction: surprisingly, even though we’ve seen Hades team up with the Disney baddies in other pieces before, this is one of the very few times he’s actually the one in charge. Usually, he’s just along for the ride, so to speak; one of the group, not the one running the show. It’s cool to see him calling the shots over so many other iconic nasties, and how he bounces off each of them and inserts himself into their respective worlds. It’s definitely one of his biggest appearances since the film, and the attraction is something of a hidden gem, in my opinion.
2. Hercules: The Animated Series.
I’m gonna be honest and up front with you all: it’s been a long time since I watched most of this show. I remember watching it a lot as a kid, but as an adult, there’s only a handful of episodes I’ve returned to since. Despite this, I still feel confident and truthful when I place this series at second place on this list. While it breaks continuity with the film in a lot of ways, and some could see this as a flaw, what I love about the Animated Series is it expands on a lot of the ideas and concepts from the film. This includes Hades, who is the main antagonist of the show. Honestly, the fact Hades has such a huge role - and is still played by James Woods, no less - is kind of amazing: there was nothing quite like this in other shows of a similar nature. Ursula popped up a couple of times in the Little Mermaid show, but she was by no means the main villain; Shere Khan was a recurring figure on TaleSpin, but the real main villain of that series was an original baddy, Don Karnage; in the case of the Aladdin TV show, Jafar was dead and buried before the series even started, since it followed up on the coattails of his defeat in “Return of Jafar!” Hades was the first time - and, to this day, one of the very, VERY few times - where the main villain of the film remained the main villain of the show, and as such, we got to see more of his relationships with other characters and more interactions between him and some of the classic characters from the movie, establishing his familial relations with the other Gods and expanding on his animosity towards Herc. There were several great stories featuring him throughout the show: in one episode, he’s able to alter time and space, so that he becomes the King of the Gods instead of Zeus. In another, he plans to take over Athens by re-routing the River Styx, and even gets a villain song! By far the most famous episode of the show, however, was a crossover episode with Aladdin, where Hades resurrected Jafar and the two joined forces to fight their nemeses together. That episode ALONE is more than enough to earn this show high points on this list, to be honest.

1. Kingdom Hearts.
When I did my list of my favorite Disney Villains in Kingdom Hearts, I said that, in some ways, I actually liked Hades in KH more than I did in the original film. And that still holds true. Hades is one of the main Disney baddies to show up in this video game series, and one of the longest lasting: in the original KH, he’s one of the villains who joins forces with Maleficent in a plan to take over all the worlds. What’s interesting, however, is that while Maleficent is the one in charge of the Disney Villains, Hades is clearly sort of marching to the beat of his own drum, even from the start. He is far more deliberately disrespectful and uninterested in Maleficent’s plan than any of the others. He seems to only be in it because, hey, he’s not gonna say no to a chance for more power, especially if it means he could get one over on Herc. As the games go on, Hades becomes increasingly more disillusioned with this alliance, however. By the time of KH3, the moment he sees Maleficent and Pete show up, he IMMEDIATELY shows them the door: in his mind, they’ve only brought him more trouble than anything else. What’s funny about this to me is that, if you actually look over the course of the games…he’s both right AND wrong. In a sense, if Maleficent hadn’t roped him into this plan, he probably never would have had to deal with Sora and his allies, which probably would have given Hades more of an advantage in many situations. However, at the same time, by being so dismissive of Maleficent, Hades kind of digs his own grave a lot of the time (ironically, for the God of the Dead), since it’s by rejecting her help and not listening to her advice that he seems to get in the most trouble. Regardless of how right or wrong he was, it was an interesting dynamic between himself, her, and the other villains and characters in general, and Hades remains a mainstay throughout the franchise: he’s appeared in nearly every single game, more than almost any other Disney Villain to show up in the series. It’s partially for this longevity and constant state of presence that Hades is still one of my favorites in the games, second only to the Mistress of All Evil he so begrudgingly allies himself with in earlier titles. Add to it the challenge and fun of his boss fights, and a lot of really fun dialogue strewn throughout, and it’s ultimately no surprise that Kingdom Hearts overrules everything else as My Favorite Appearance from Disney’s Hades.
HONORABLE MENTIONS INCLUDE…
House of Mouse.
Hades, like many of the other Disney Villains, popped up a ton throughout this show, mostly just for minor cameos. One exception, however, was an episode where he tries to win the heart of Maleficent with the help of Mickey Mouse himself…which goes about as well as one can expect for everybody involved, frankly.
Descendants 3.
Speaking of Hades and Maleficent as a couple, in the third Descendants film, it’s revealed that the Lord of the Dead (played by Cheyenne Jackson) married the Mistress of All Evil at some point. The main protagonist of the first three films, Mal, is their daughter. Not a fan of these movies, generally speaking, but I unironically enjoy Jackson’s portrayal of Hades in the third film.
Disney’s Hades Challenge.
This PC game was one I wanted to play as a kid, but never got the chance. The premise is that the player is a rookie hero-in-training, helping Phil out while Hercules is indisposed. Hades, of course, can’t allow any other heroes to meddle with his affairs, so he sends various foes and creates a number of puzzles to challenge the heroes (as the title suggests). Very fun, especially for kids, but ultimately the five appearances on the main list are ones I just like more.

I decided to spruce up the Thorn and the Spectre today - one of the problems when you have a big art project that keeps growing despite your attempts to end it because you're having too much fun with it is that your skills grow with it, and eventually you look back on the first parts of it and being like, "Uh, yeah, I think we can do better than we did." This is why Tyrantis's soft sculpture model has two whole remodelings.

The Spectre's touch-ups were somewhat minor. I added more transparent material to the interior of her skirt so she feels a bit more substantial, and then, uh... cut off her face for the second time and gave her a third and final one. This time I used the technique I first tried with the Beast of layering the foam rubber on her head so she has naturally sunken eye sockets and cheeks, then covered it in a thin layer of fabric so the seams aren't as noticeable. It worked, I think she looks much closer to the cute ghost she is in the game! Also now she has her old face as a fun accessory.

With the Thorn, I decided to do something I had initially intended to do, but decided against because it seemed to have a bad ratio of "insane amount of fiddly intricate detail work" to "things people will actually notice and give a shit about. Namely, cutting out a bunch of tiny little thorns to put on her vines and gluing them all on individually. Even now I can feel Dennis Nedry waving his hat around and saying, "See? Nobody cares!" about all the effort I put into this, but dammit, this is the Thorn! My favorite princess! She should have her namesake! I also made some extra vines to put in her hair to make her more canon-compliant, which of course meant I had to make even more tiny little fucking thorns no one will notice.
It's ok, she's worth it. She's worth it.
Oh, and I beefed up her legs a bit with some more fabric. Her original legs were too twiggy and it was really noticeable whenever I stood her next to the other princesses, so now she's got stronger gams.

...and since I had the hot glue gun anyway, I decided to make one last new princess. As a treat! The Princess and the Dragon is one of my favorite routes of the game, and it can result in one version of the princess who's, like, color inverted - where the other princesses look like cross-hatched pencil drawings, this one looks like a cross-hatched chalk drawing, and it's just a really cool effect that I wanted to try and figure out how to do. I... I'm kind of ok with the result? I like the felt I got for the hair, it's dark gray with streaks of white and really feels as close to the chalk drawing looks as I can probably get with that material. Unfortunately, the white-ink pen I got to try and do detailing on her face did not show up as well as its black-ink siblings have - you can kinda sorta see the lines I drew on for her lower lip and eyebrows if you squint, but yeah, bit of a disappointing result, especially since I was hoping to be able to use it to give her skin some of those faint chalk cross-hatching lines that make her look so cool. Still, she looks nice next to her fellow princesses!
I imagine if I was good with paint there'd probably be some sort of fabric paint that would work, but I can never use the stuff without it globbing everywhere.
The funny thing is, while I think she's one of the most visually striking princess designs, the ending that gets you the photo-negative Princess isn't my favorite for The Princess and the Dragon route. My favorite is the one where you and her get out of the basement and just lay on the grass together. Sure, her design isn't as striking in that one - she's almost identical to how she appears in the beginning of the game, just missing a hand and bearing an x-shaped scar on her heart - but it's such a sweet, tender little moment, and I savor those in the game. Definitely the least interesting P&D take on the princess to make a doll of, but perhaps the one that's more dear to my heart.
...
but I did say this would be my last one, so...

i forgot to post my other fanservant designs here. um. i'm not incredibly satisfied with the actual art on these but this is more concept than art so it's fine
design notes below
avenger (amakusa shirou tokisada)
"he already has an avenger alt" that's okay. he can have two avenger alts
he looks closer to the way he did during the 3rd hgw because he didn't incarnate like apoc amakusa
much design inspo from onryo (vengeful ghost) art and noh and kabuki (which feature onryo heavily)
his base white layer is a funerary garment. it's crossed the wrong way because i really wanted to lean into the onryo aspect. he cannot move past his death hence his class
i put another layer under that because he looked naked. it's indigo because in kabuki theatre ghosts usually have heavy indigo makeup, so i wanted it in the color scheme
the haori was because he still looked too bare i'm sorry for always designing 2973926285 layers
however i decided later that it looks too Winter Hanten because i suck at drawing kimono fabric so i made this alt where he's not wearing the haori:

the red knots, obi cord, and over the shoulder cloth are insp by noh theatre. specifically they're common elements in samurai costumes
shoulder cloth is degraded from the usual resplendent fabric used in theatre costumes—first of all i wanted to evoke the fires in shimabara, and second also wanted to give the impression of a funeral shroud
the red around the pupils is also noh; masks might use a convention like this to indicate that someone is not human or has a grudge that they want to avenge
i wanted to play around with the idea of giving him phantom arms because in fate lore his arms were cut off before he was made to watch his comrades being executed but i couldn't draw it well enough. possibly another ascension...
caster (amakuni yasutsuna)
i thought it would be really funny to make a fanservant of amakuni, the first japanese swordsmith, who is not a saber, and who spends all his waking moments correcting people who think he's a saber
i heavily referenced muramasa's color scheme for this, although amakuni is not a shirouface. it's just that he's the only other swordsmith in fgo lol i wanted to have some parallels between them
the bandages: i don't know why i can't stop making design decisions based on involvement with fire. but as a smith i wanted him to have a Physical Sign that he interacts with flames and metals a lot
the scars on his face are also burns
the swords behind him are the body of the kogarasumaru, the sword he forged according to legend—this is not factually true, BUT because of how servants work, he has access to this sword because people think that he forged it
the vented shoulder on the right side of his gi is not authentically correct... it's there because i wanted to sort of evoke the heian-era kariginu style and also cus i figure it gets stuffy in there
he has tengu sandals on because the kogarasumaru (lit. "little crow") is so heavily associated with birds
his eyes are red to indicate divinity, as according to some versions of the legend he attained immortality due to the amount of blood shed with his swords
the cord on his hakama is how we wear the cords of our swords in my school of iaido. this is also not technically something that would have been authentic to amakuni's time, since he would have worn a sword in the tachi style, but since he is sort of the forefather of all swordsmithing in japan, i wanted to represent the more recent eras as well
#art tag#fate/#fate grand order#fgo#amakusa shirou#amakuni doesnt get a tag cus hes straight from my brain

so. i just finished the winter soldier: cold front. and oh my god.
background: I never got into Marvel before Marvel Rivals gave me an excuse to. And I have specifically become really into Bucky/The Winter Soldier. I was so close to watching just the Captain America movies purely for him, but my best friend wanted me to properly watch all the MCU movies together. Problem is: he’s been sick for a bit, I have a newfound obsession with Bucky Barnes, and I can’t watch the movies he’s in yet. So I’m sitting here like a poser reblogging Bucky fanart with no prior knowledge save for a short rundown of his lore.
UNTIL I find out from a YouTube comment about this book. And that it seemingly has its own canon separate to the comics/MCU. So obviously I picked it up from my local library that day.
Therefore awkwardly enough this is my first real source of official Bucky content. I don’t know what’s changed here besides the book-exclusive characters. But I seriously enjoyed this so much. (spoilers ahead!)
I looove the back n forth between 1941 young Bucky + 1954 “Agent Vronsky”/The Winter Soldier, all the subtle parallels between the chapters and the way we slowly start to piece information together.
I think Ginny was a fun character, and seriously added to the heart-wrench. Especially when we see her die before we’re even through with their backstory T-T
I also oddly really loved Rostova. She was an interesting character because the way we see her, sorta through Bucky’s perspective, she was pretty much the only person seemingly there for him/backing him up. So even I found myself liking her before I remembered, like, where we are LMAO. That mixed with the small bouts of suspicion that would come up… Obviously I knew we couldn’t trust her, but she gave the illusion that she was different, that maybe she cared.
Which makes the end of the book. Oh, so much better.
It’s funny, knowing how the story will end, but still finding yourself rooting for Bucky to make it out.
Bucky struggling against Rostova, literally shot in both legs, talking back, being the most defiant and human she’s probably seen him, and it actually affecting her. How much easier it must be for her to do her job when he’s nothing but their soldier, an empty shell of a person. And when she finally gives in, and they exchange names, a piece of who they really are, SHE DIES, TOO— Everyone around this man just gets taken from him.
Another part I’m obsessed with is where Bucky starts realizing he’s missing memories and checks for all his scars, none of which he has any recollection of. Like, this whole idea is so terrifying, seeing these permanent marks of traumatic injuries and not even knowing where or when they came from. And the fact that one of them is from a suicide attempt??? When he was describing all the scars he found, and the one on his wrist was described, I was like… Am I misunderstanding?? Is that actually what it sounds like, only to be later confirmed, and ughhh. There’s something that just hits so different about a character who wants to die because they should have died, where death would actually be a mercy. But, still, he’s denied even that. (God, where he begs Rostova to kill him…)
And STEVE— oh my god the crumbs of Steve we get in this book. I almost wish there was more, but I guess that’s where the comics/movies come in, huh. But I can’t get over the way he was described in the small scene we did get. Bucky’s in such a low/lonely place and is immediately so enamored by/drawn to Steve. (not in a ship way bc the book goes by what i think are the comic ages but)
“His eyes were the blue of a gas-range flame, and Bucky felt himself leaning toward the warmth.” (367)
LIKE HELLO?? omfg
And another random thing in the 1954 chapters, he seems to nearly always have some sort of pain or discomfort in general/regarding his arm. Like, he’s just never comfortable, I really liked those little details that add to the terrible setting/vibe.
Ugh. This is a very messy jumble of my thoughts but I really really enjoyed this book, I nearly finished it the day I got it. I don’t know how it holds up in regards to greater canon depictions, but as something who is new here… so good!!!! so painful!!! I love my tragic characters and oh god is Bucky Barnes a tragedy. I actually want to buy this book at some point to own it bc 1) the cover art is sick 2) i wanna reread it now 3) i’ll definitely wanna reread it after watching the movies
I also want to draw, like, all of that second to last chapter. ack.
#the winter soldier cold front#bucky barnes#the winter soldier#marvel#side note#at one point he finds a gun with 3 bullets in it#and my brain immediately went to rivals lmfao#armed and DANGEROUS#except he was disarmed at that point his arm wasn’t working—

thinking about azula's POV in the conventional werewolf AU is so funny bc like... okay, she hasn't seen Zuko in three years. it's understandable that he would have changed during that time period. and at first, she doesn't really notice anything amiss. it's not really until she's conquered ba sing se, that she actually starts noticing something is a little odd about her brother.
she can't really put her finger on what it is. in many ways, zuko seems the same- leave it to zuzu to hurt his hand in some silly way. and she'll admit, the gloves are an unusual fashion choice. not very practical for a firebender. then he just disappears from the earth palace one night. no one can find him anywhere. he turns up again the next morning looking extremely worse for wear and just... passes out and doesn't wake up until the middle of the afternoon.
he won't answer any of her questions.
(ty lee won't stop squinting at him when she thinks he's not looking. she can't help it! something seems a little strange about his aura.)
he's not himself, clearly. even when they return to the caldera. he keeps his distance from everyone but mai, and even then, he still sort of keeps his distance from her too. he catches him in mother's room, staring extremely hard at the silver brush she left behind. she can't tease him by playfully sneaking up on him anymore. the turtleducks at the palace pond don't quite seem to like him anymore.
he gets so worked up about the silly war meeting that he must not have gotten any sleep at all the night before. he can cover it up all he likes, but she can tell- he stumbles through the day, looking as if he wants to just crawl into a corner and go to sleep. and then, after all that, he just... leaves the palace to join the avatar. which she knows he does, because he helps that non-bender break his girlfriend and his father out of the boiling rock.
(she hears from the guards that he has a burn on the back of his hand. she also hears he made a completely absurd jump onto the moving gondola. they're exaggerating, she's sure.
she hears another absurd rumor- the waterbender went on a rampage against the southern raiders. she had a massive wolf with her- one with a large burn scar on the left half of its face and a ruined left ear.)
then she shoots him full of lightning- and somehow, he's back on his feet again in the time it takes that waterbender to use cheap tactics to beat her. even the waterbender looks a little surprised about that one. he mutters something about 'needing to do a little more than shoot him full of lightning to kill him'.
what does that even MEAN, zuzu. most people die when they're shot with lightning. the avatar certainly did. how are you walking around?
#werewolf zuko au#and then katara is just like. zuko sit the fuck down and let me heal you#zuko: i'll be fine in an hour or two. probably.#katara: nun-uh. sit down mister.

Would Grian and Scar in the secret husbands au ever want to have/adopt a kid/kids or are they more of “we are exclusively cat dads and nothing else”?
oh my god okay. okay.
so I am so very soft and wibbly over the thought of secret husbands adopting a kid. do I think they'd be responsible parents? considering who they are.... there'd certainly be a lot of chaos in the goodtimes household
a conversation I can see them having:
"scar... where's the kid?"
"the kid? huh?" "oh shoot they were just there a second ago!"
cue the chaos as they try to find their toddler child
but.... I don't know, I'm kind of tempted to say that they do end up adopting a kid.... I really love the thought of them having this small child and absolutely showering this kid in love. if I were to give them a kid in secret husbands, I think it'd go something like this:
xisuma calls a server meeting because he's detected some sort of anomaly that got past the server's protection. everyone goes searching for said anomaly, and it's scar and grian who actually find it. they find this kid who's scared and shaking and maybe... maybe their eyes flash purple and grian immediately knows what's going on. especially since he did the same exact thing himself a few years ago.
scar is the one who manages to reach out to the kid because he's scar and while he's working on calming the kid down, grian's messaging the server to explain the situation. they head back to spawn, scar holding a shaking child in his arms and everyone has. no idea what to do with this development
grian is, well, not quite hovering but he's certainly keeping his eyes focused on this kid, and he's the first to speak up in favor of keeping the kid on the server. scar of course agrees, and grian is determined to get everyone to agree to let the kid stay. and well. everyone agrees it's best for the kid to stay with scar and grian since they're the most... equipped to help
.....having written that out, yeah. yeah I want this to be canon to the au, scar and grian are in their parenthood arc !!!!!!
now, if this happens before or after the server finds out they're married.... that's the question...... it'd be really funny if part of the reasoning for giving scar and grian the kid is like "oh if they're acting as a little family then surely scar and grian will finally get together!!!" also bonus points if the kid at a later points asks the two of them why other people on the server think they're not together and scar and grian get the kid in on their plan LMAO
#mochi speaks#secret husbands au#IM SO SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG TO ANSWER T^T#I was waiting until I had the spoons to give this the proper attention it deserves and !!!! today is that day >:D#but also the way I've so quickly fallen in love with this idea I'm?????#the itch to write this#uwawawawawawawa

Ok so I did a li'l project with a fic of mine
Basically, I'd wanted to draw an art peice for every chapter of Zombie Fungus, making them almost like illustrations in a story. This was partially for practice with this sort of thing, and also so I could put them in when I print out my fic to bookbind.
I'd been working on this for a few months, and it was pretty fun choosing what scenes from each chapter were my favorite, or looked the most cinematic in my mind, and then transferring that to drawing.
Also good practice for actually doing thumbnail sketches and using references and values since they're all black and white.
Obviously, spoilers for Zombie Fungus, if you are wanting to read it it's here.
mild body horror for some of these
oki
Chapter 1, I liked the mental image of Scar floating the items w/ his magic.
Chapter 2, bird. To be fair, not a lot happened in that chapter XD
Chapter 3, it was funny trying to figure out how riding a strider would look and realizing it is not comfortable. But I had to draw this scene.
Chapter 4, Abigail ^^ also IDK why but Ren is always hard to draw for me
Chapter 5, I'm actually really proud of this one for some reason XD (dancing zombie-)
Chapter 6, thinking back, I could have done the falling bookshelf for this, and I'm not sure why I didn't. But I still like how this came out.
Chapter 7, I just really wanted to draw the hug.
Chapter 8, this one was oddly fun to do. It was also funny trying to figure out just how a bloody nose would bleed, only to find internet restrictions not liking that search.
Chapter 9, Love me some movement and effects. Looks like an album cover...
Chapter 10, this one was tedious just because of how many people there were. And then trying to get the lighting right.
Chapter 11, I do like this one, though it's hard to tell False is holding a shovel. Also all I can think of while looking at this is creepypastas 'cause that's what I was listening to while drawing it. So I think she's suitably scary, lol.
Chapter 12, I kinda like how the fire came out. Something about Bdubs' face is off, but I don't really know what and didn't want to go back and change it after finishing.
Chapter 13, of course, I had to draw this scene. I had a pintrest board of faling people for this. The movement was a bit hard to get, but I thinked it worked out. Also expression :)
Chapter 14, this one was... fun. I don't know what to say, other than it would be really hard to explain the context XD But I think the details came out nicely. Living pinecone. Also I keep forgetting Ren's sunglasses.
Chapter 15, this one might just be my favorite out of all of them. The values and the circular layout worked well, and the spooky vibes are there. I really wanted to capture the idea of the ghosts without directly stating it, just like when writing that scene.
Chapter 16, I do like this one, though I feel like the values don't have quite enough contrast. It was interesting trying to figure out what exactly the source block would look like, and just trying to get the general atmosphere. But overall, I like it.
I debated doing one for the epilogue, but couldn't decide on a layout I liked. If that changes I will update this lol.
But yeah, they were super fun to work on, and I totally recomend doing this sort of thing with really any story if you want to practice scenes/backgrounds/just making a drawing look like it would be in a book.

Hi I'm thinking a normal amount about Absalom today! Snooty Good PetTM who still (at least in Brutus' nightmares) moves to shield the others. Could we maybe hear a little about him and Brutus interacting (do they get to interact??) or how they first met or their first impressions of each other or. Anything like that? I love they and your writing is always tasty. -@secretwhumplair
86. Introducing Pets
CW: institutionalised slavery, dehumanisation, box boy universe, pet whump
”Do you really want to put them together, love? I mean, Brutus can be a bit high-spirited, and he is quite a lot stronger than your pet.” Wayland Jones shook his head. “I don’t want anything to happen.”
“Ah, don’t worry so much, dear. That nice WRU consultant did recommend for them to get some alone time together to suss each other out. And…” Cecilia twirled around gracefully, making her red skirt swirl out around her. Playfully, she put her hands on his shoulders, reaching up to give him a light peck on the cheek. “… since we are going to live together now…” She beamed, and turned to continue onwards down the corridor. “…we can’t really keep them apart for ever. Besides, we’ll just give them a few minutes, how bad can it get?”
“Let’s try it. I left Brutus in the hallway.”
“And Absalom is in the bedroom. I’ll go and get him.” She went eagerly, heels clacking against the floor.
Brutus and Wayland arrived first. The black-haired guard dog obediently went to kneel on the floor next to the unlit fireplace. His casual attire of dark grey sweatpants and t-shirt matched in colour, but clashed in tone, with Wayland’s dark grey suit and white shirt.
“I really want this to work, so make sure that you don’t mess it up for me.” Wayland’s hash tone made Brutus flinch. “She likes her pet, so be sure that you are nice to it. Understood?”
“Yes, Master.”
“Good. In fact, I count on you to keep an eye on Absalom. Romantics are smart enough to get in all sorts of trouble, but stupid enough to not get out of it again.”
“Yes, Master.”
Soon, the door swung open and Cecilia entered, Absalom half a step behind. At his mistress order, the pet knelt on the other side of the fireplace. He was elegantly dressed in a light blue vest over a white shirt, matching blue trousers, and his wavy, brown hair tied at the nape of his neck with a brighter blue ribbon. His collar was soft, grey leather, in sharp contrast to the black, synthetic material around the guard dog’s neck.
“Absalom, this is Brutus.” Cecilia said, grinning at the formality of introducing the pets to one another. “Brutus, this is Absalom. We want you to get to know each other better, so we’ll give you a few moments to talk.”
Both Cecilia and Wayland went towards the door.
“Have fun, pets.” She smiled. Wayland caught Brutus’ eye and mouthed; ‘Behave’.
As the door fell shut behind them, both pets stared awkwardly at each other for a moment.
Then, Absalom rose gracefully to his feet. The small scar on his upper lip emphasised by his sneer.
“Well, well… look what the cat dragged in….” In an undertone he added. “Though of course it would have to have been a fairly large and weight-bearing cat.”
He danced quickly backwards when Brutus also came to his feet. “That was a bit of a joke.” The pet said quickly, blue eyes wide. Finding himself, he tilted his head and tried a winsome smile. “I’m not usually meeting guard dogs. You are very imposing close by, darling.”
Standing face to face, they were almost the same height, but Brutus’ muscular heft compared with Absalom’s lithe build made the guard dog probably twice as heavy. They watched each other warily. Then, Brutus broke the silence with a shrug and a smile.
“I’m not used to your sort either.” He admitted, and scratched his head. “Actually, the last time I saw a romantic was when we got an old one as bait. He was just running around like a headless chicken and Jazz almost crushed his head when he knocked him out.” He chuckled. “It was actually quite funny… he…” Brutus looked up and finally seemed to register that Absalom’s somewhat condescending smile had frozen and turned into something more resembling a rictus grin. “Eh… He was all right, though… or at least he survived.” He swallowed, and tried again. “I wouldn’t do that to you, though. My Master has told me to be nice with you.”
“Okay then.” Absalom went for a forced, chipper tone. “We’re going to live together, we need to get along.”
Brutus nodded and held out his hand. “Truce?” Absalom studied his face for a moment, hesitating. Intensely blue eyes searching dark brown.
Then, carefully, he reached out his thin, carefully manicured hand, and clasped the the guard dogs darker, larger hand in his own.
“Truce.”

Everything feels a bit dark and scary in the world at the moment. Especially when things feels like they are going the wrong way, I think it is really important to involve yourself with actually trying to improve things, preferably together with other people in the world out there.
It is, however, also important to keep your own spirits up, so I took this advice, and decided to make something today. I have been twisting and turning this wonderful ask by @secretwhumplair in my mind for a while, and it finally clicked together in a way I’m happy with. I was also inspired by this ask. Thank you so much for the ask, @secretwhumplair, I hope you’ll enjoy Brutus and Absalom’s first meeting! ❤️

This is somewhat inspired by some of the fics @theminecraftbee has written.
---
Two figures watch, from a nebulous nowhere, as Scar stands, alone, in the remains of his destroyed shop.
"I'm sorry," he says, mournfully, to no one.
"You Know," says the first figure, "I Really Wasn't Convinced When You Pitched This One."
Scar does not react. He cannot hear them.
"Yes," says the second, with an air of long-suffering patience. "I Do Know. You Were Very Vocal About It."
"...I really wanted to try and make some friends, this time." Scar, simultaneously right in front of them and a great distance away, sighs and looks up at the sky. "Oh, well. Nothing to be done about it now!"
"I Have Come Around To It," says the first.
"Good," says the second. "I Knew You Would."
They watch Scar start to sort through the mess.
"They Forget They Have A Choice," says the first. "It Is Fascinating."
They move on.
The move on to ash.
Skizz and Tango and Bigb stand right in the thick of it, quiet.
"You try to do one nice thing," says Skizz.
His hands curl into fists. He glares at the smoldering remains of the heart in front of him.
"You try to do ONE nice thing!" he yells, and punches one of the last remaining bits of wood.
Brittle from the fire, it breaks.
"Yeah, well! I guess this is why we don't," says Tango, resigned.
"It was always gonna happen eventually," says Bigb, voice level.
"They Always Try," says the first. "They Always Keep Trying."
"Yes," says the second. "They Chase Each Other In Circles Until All Of Them Are Dead. They Give Themselves Their Own Tasks."
"That Is Not What I Meant," says the first. "But That Is Also True."
They watch the three members of the Heart Foundation stand, for a while, in silence.
And they move on.
They move over to the mesa.
Martyn is standing inside his house, that used to be Jimmy's house too, facing the three chests on the wall labelled "TIMMY", "MUMBO" and "MARTYN".
He is talking animatedly, and gesturing. "-and I kept trying to get them to follow me there, but nobody was taking the bait. Honestly, you guys would've laughed at me. But it-"
They let the rambling fade into the background.
"A Good Dog," says the first.
"Yes," says the second. "He Does As He Is Told."
"-and I've honestly been feeling a bit left out today, isn't that funny? But- Bdubs said, he said he would join me next week, so-"
They move on.
They move to the cobblestone castle, in the side of the hill.
Grian is cooing over a small magma cube named Etho's Dishwasher.
Cleo and Etho are leaning against the staircase watching him.
"Are you both alright?" asks Cleo.
"Sure, I'm fine," says Etho.
"Me?" says Grian, turning around. "Oh, I'm good, I was being a total coward. I just hung around at the top of that tower by the Secret Keeper for ages and none of them ever thought to look up."
"Really?" asks Cleo, amused. "Some of them I would expect that of, but I'd think Gem would be a bit more on the ball."
"Well, apparently not," says Grian.
He turns back to the magma cube, and they settle into quiet.
"I Would Have Expected More Of The Alliances To Have Fallen Apart, By Now," says the first.
"Loyalty Is At Its Most Interesting When It Is Stretched," says the second. "These Three Know It Will Never Last. They Know That All Of Them Are Aware Of This. That Is Why They Are Still Here. They Know How Much They Can Care Without It Being A Lie. And Then Privately, They Care More Than That Anyway."
Eventually, Etho sighs. He looks tired.
He glances from Cleo, to Grian, and back, and after a moment of hesitation, speaks. "I, uh. I'm glad you two survived." He shifts awkwardly, and continues before they can respond. "I thought they were going to try and make me kill you, at one point, and- Grian, I don't know if you know this, but Cleo is scary when she's getting revenge. I did not want to have to worry about that."
Cleo laughs, slightly, and gives Etho a look of the deepest affection. "Well, I did die, is the thing, so thanks for reminding me of that."
"No, no, you knew what I meant! See, Grian? See what it's like?"
"Uh huh," says Grian, raising an eyebrow. "Well, thanks for not killing us."
Cleo frowns at him, suddenly curious. "Grian?" they ask. "Are you the only one who didn't die today?"
Grian opens his mouth, then stops to consider it.
"Or- no, wait. Martyn." says Cleo. "Well. Well done either way."
They watch the trio for a little longer, and then they move on.
They move to Scott.
He is alone, in a forest somewhere.
He is leant up against a cliff face, staring down at the floor.
"None Of Them Even Died, This Time," says the first. "Not Permanently."
"No," says the second. "It Was Controlled. Directed. There To Even The Playing Field. We Can Just Ask Them To Do That, Now, And They Will."
Scott draws his knees up to his chest, and rests his head on his arms.
He doesn't move, or shout, or cry.
He just stays there, quiet.
Eventually, they move on.
They move to the Secret Keeper.
Gem is standing there.
She is looking at it.
"If She Had Decided To Fail At The Start," says the first, "She Most Likely Would Have Lived. She Lost So Much More, Taking Things From Other People, Than The Nothing She Would Have Lost In Failure."
"Yes," says the second. "That Is My Favourite Part."
They watch her.
"Anyway," says the second, "She Would Not Do That."
"She Wouldn't?" asks the first.
"No," says the second. "She Understands Why It Is My Favourite Part."
Gem smiles.
"Thank you!" she says to the Secret Keeper. "That was a lot of fun!"
"You Are Welcome," says the second.
Blood on her hands, Gem turns and leaves, grin as bright as the sun.
They watch her go.

I just remember the au I wanted to post about earlier today that I'm probably never going to touch again as per usual.
The VA pals are at summer camp because they do crimes and are doing community service to avoid going to prison. The following will give you what they're doing here, their reason for ending up here, and whether or not they're good at their jobs . Also you can add more Va characters in the comments if u want idgaf . Anyway they're in alphabetical order because i said so
Abbacchio: Security, supposedly, but nothing ever happens so he just hangs out and gets drunk as hell. He's a police officer that got transferred to cover up something he did, but he won't tell anyone, no matter how hard the others try to siphon it out of him while he's drunk. He practically has no job. He's just decoration. And he's bad at that too
Bruno: Head Counselor, not because he's the perfect person for the job (he tries his best to keep up), but because Polpo trusts him to always come through 100% of the time. He's here on parole actually, but like Abbacchio, no one knows what he did. There are rumors that he was a cannibal serial killer that got betrayed to the cops by a girlfriend. However, he was the one who started them, so they are not trustworthy by any means. Everyone adores him. Why wouldn't they? He's a great guy.
Fugo: Counselor. Helps Bruno wherever he can. Tried to keep his criminal conviction secret but Narancia annoyed him into telling him and when he whispered it into his ear Narancia loudly blurted out "AGGRAVATED ASSAULT??" and now everyone knows. Which is FINE. He's surprisingly good with the kids, despite how socially inept he is. It's the other counselors that he struggles to interact with. He likes them just fine, for the most part- he just never learned how to interact with his peers.
Giorno: Counselor. Is here for petty thievery, breaking and entering, scamming, and also stealing a car. Or, like, 50. Somehow. Most people don't believe he actually did all of that, and most people are wrong. The kids like him because he's friendly and cool and teaches them how to steal candy from the camp store. The other counselors (actually, it's just Fugo) don't like him as much.
Mista: Camp Store Attendant. Could not care less about his job, and frequently doesn't even do it, preferring to go stroll around the campgrounds and chat with his friends. The rumor is that he's here for murdering three people, and that's what he'll tell people he did, but no one believes that the camp director would let someone convicted for murder hang out with a bunch of kids. He'll tell anyone who will listen about good fortune and human meat and the number four. Everyone agrees he's a little touched in the head, but he's funny, so whatever.
Murolo: Hangs out in the Game Room, but it's not really clear what his job is, nor can anyone get a straight answer out of him. Most of the kids think he's a creep, and spread fake stories about his various crimes. As for what he actually did... his story changes every time someone asks. No one really likes him (other than the higher ups, who insist he stick around for whatever reason).
Narancia: Mail Room Attendant. He was a supposed to be a counselor at some point but no one trusts him enough to let him take care of anyone, let alone multiple children, so instead they put him to sort mail all day. Problem is, he doesn't have the best work ethic, so if he just doesn't really feel like it then no one will get their mail. He was framed for robbery. Kids like his cool eyepatch, and they also like making fun of him because he isn't particularly bright and will believe anything they say.
Sheila: Woods Expert/Counselor. Does a better job at security than Abbacchio does. Also here for aggravated assault and battery. Her eye scar is a huge source of speculation among the kids. The most common theory is that it was scratched out when she was fighting a bear, because of course, she fights bears in her free time. What else would she be doing in the woods late at night?
Trish: Doesn't have a job. Will hang out with the kids if she feels like it, but usually she just stays in her deluxe cabin (nicest in the whole place, by the way!) and does... whatever there is to do in there. The kids have decided that she's here because she's the rebellious daughter of the camp director (no one's ever seen him) and he doesn't know what to do with her. She's kind of mean.
#I came up with most of this on the spot so#whatever#anyway#feel free to change character things in the chat too . again I put like three percent thought into this#lmao#jjba#vento aureo#leone abbacchio#bruno bucciarati#pannacotta fugo#giorno giovanna#guido mista#cannolo murolo#narancia ghirga#sheila e#trish una

Thoughts on JJK chapter 271 - the last chapter (spoilers)
I did a live reading of this chapter you can find here if you're interested how my panel per panel thoughts progressed while reading it 😄
This very last chapter we start where we left off in ch 270: with the mission where the woman can't see the face of her boyfriend correctly anymore.
The first year trio are hard at work thinking through their options on what to do and how to pull that curse user out of hiding. We get a new sort of funny faces from the idiot duo, for them at least, I think these faces appeared in the Kenjaku/Takaba fight as well

The trio enacts their plan now and they catch the perpetrator really fast. Nobara does some funny yet unnecessary property damage in the process and we first get a cool panel of her and Yuji together than another silly panel of them not able to see their faces properly.
The perpetrator btw is a no name never before seen character created just for this mission so the guys can have one last low stakes adventure together.
We get a Gojo flashback giving Yuji a talk, saying his students should become better than him and forget him too, at least one of them. It isn't out of character for Gojo to say that but the placement and the build up for it is somewhat unsatisfying.
Yuji shows how he internalized Gojo's last words by encouraging the criminal to be better.

We get a cool Megumi pose with Kon after he showed us why he was the brains in the group but unfortunately that's basically it for him. Even though he was possessed and tortured by Sukuna for a month there is nothing left of that on him except superficial scars.
When Sukuna took him over Megumi was turned into an object meant to suffer. Now it feels like he's still that: an object but this time meant to be happy in a forcefully conflict free way.
When the readers believed in the dream theory, elements like that was where our thoughts came from. This forceful happy ending for everyone, a genre shift from what JJK had been at this point 🤔

Now we get a surprise Mahito and Sukuna interaction in the space before souls move on. Their conversation is interesting as is the reference to Sukuna's past and what he chose for himself.
In a way it was always apparent that Sukuna was bullshitting the people around him when he talked about himself and what others should do and not. For me it was the speech he gave to Yuji after possessing Megumi about how Yuji should stifle his misery because he was born low.
That immediately stood in stark contrast to what he later said to Kashimo about being born unwanted and cursed because now he admitted that he was in Yuji's position once too and still he developed that insanely arrogant self image.
My problem here is that this interaction references things that were not implied before like what his two paths above were supposed to be. Every time I look at that I get new ideas on what it could've been he's talking about.
It's good to have room for interpretation on someone's backstory. But to this degree it's just confusing. I thought the woman on the left is his mother, others said it could be Kenjaku or Yorozu. Whoever that is, the meaning of what Sukuna says changes drastically here.
His relationship and history with Uraume is also insufficiently explored. This scene unfortunately does not have the emotional impact it could've had if Gege had planted the correct seeds previously.
Sukuna walking away from the curse that represents human hatred however is meaningful. That part was halfway build up during the Yorozu fight when Sukuna said he would be willing to accept defeat.

We get the end of the manga the way it started: with Sukuna's last finger back in a box in a small shrine. It's poetic but the path towards it, these last chapters and the last arcs...
...it felt underwhelming, not gonna lie. Towards this ending were those unneeded scenes with the NSS and even the majority of this chapter was unnecessary and wasted time. What could've been a better last chapter than this while still hitting all the same beats would've been one solely from Sukuna's point of view.
Sukuna from before his birth, his infancy, his childhood. Showing us the path he talks about here. Giving us a glimpse on what the Calamity was, his relationship with Uraume, showing us why he accepted Kenjaku's offer. Then the canon timeline but all of it from his view. His thoughts on Megumi while he possessed him. Even the talk Yuji had with Gojo could've been shown because of the established resonance between Yuji and Sukuna.
Then should come his talk with Mahito. Then we would've understood and sympathized with it without problems .
We did not need the trio's last mission. The end scene of ch 270 was enough to make us imagine that mission on our own. This chapter could've been about sth with more meaning and the exact ending of it could've still been achieved without problems, all e.g. with Sukuna's last thoughts narrated over the happy faces of Gojo's students 😣
Overall I liked the chapter but I felt like sth was missing from this entire ending. It was safe for Gege to write I guess but it was also boring in a lost potential kind of way...
...and then I see that fucking time on that one panel and I think again about Gege wanting to troll us!

That's the same time we saw in ch 269 and I have no idea what it's supposed to mean. So now I'll make one last fucked up prediction, partly meant to be serious, mostly meant to entertain me these last few hours before the official gets released:
The digital release of chapter 271 is going to be a different chapter than the magazine release.
Why???? Because wtf not?? Shueisha and Gege probably too hate the leaks and don't you think this is only a problem in the anglosphere. Of course the Japanese side distributes these leaks around as well. From one small glimpse I saw, Japanese fans are wondering if JJK was cancelled because of this ending.
It would also fit with the dream theory or just my own thoughts from above about a differently structured last chapter.
So like, why not troll the fanbase? Many of whom have shown with Gojo's death chapter how they can't keep their eyes away from the leaks. Previously my own thoughts had been that WSJ could release final chapters like this exclusively on digital first to nip the leak problem in the bud.
But like, don't take this theory too seriously 😄

Okay, buckle in guys cause ive been Thinking (my work is cracking down on earbuds so i could only think about hwfwm vs listening to it 😞)
so my mind has carried me to 3 tracts. 1.) time travel. b) how to get jason to be non lethal (is there a way?) and a subsect of b , iii. Is there any reason that Jason would be booted from Team Biscuit.
edit: this is gonna be just about 1 because it got hella long.
now, 1 and b are pretty normal. But iii. is where my mind eventually wandered. Lets get into it!
Starting off with 1: Time Travel.
so i think it makes sense that if given the ability, jason would in fact time travel. To save Kaito, Asya, and Greg if nothing else.
Now. My first thought was, he’d go into his normal rank body (because rn im working w jason going back to when he first arrived in palamustus, tho earlier or later both do hold appeal), and all of his memories & shit would be mind-splittingly painful due to going from a silver ranked body to a normal one. I was having a great time with this version UNTIL i realized that its the soul thats ranking up & affecting the body. Not the other way around. And Jason is a gestalt being, so how the fuck would his soul travel back without his body?
this led me down two paths.
one: two jasons. This would make the most sense & be easiest to explain (for now without Evilphrog’s theories on time travel) as jason’s whole body & soul would just go back in time & then hed probably do sneaky stuff from the shadows & longingly spy on his friends & eventually the two jason’s meet & young jason will be horrified by what hes become etc etc. now, this is fun, but generally not my preferred way of time travel (i might make an exception because two jasons is great, but i digress).
path two: jason tears away his soul like he did to the messenger or potentially even that one builder cultist. He then sends it back in time (with new scars, would these be visible? Scar thoughts to come), and it inhabits his old body. I think he probably absorbs it? (More thoughts on this to come too. God im having a lot of thoughts). & then weve got this giant purge in the garden & suddenly jason is the only jason & also at [insert rank here].
so, scars. I believe his scars would manifest on this new body. Potentially bleeding like they did after he flung carlos. And i wonder if new scars would manifest. Because all of his old soul scars also came with a physical attack, im not sure. Im leaning towards yes, but im also not sure what theyd look like. Hmmmm. Maybe some sort of full body scarring? But like minimal ish? Yknow like lichtenberg scars? But not that exactly. Food for thought. anywho, so then jason is naked WAIT COME ON. arghhhh. I thought it would be really funny if jason saved everyone without clothes on :((((. But his storage space is his fucking astral kingdom which is obviously coming with him!!!!! Maybe its so disoriented & hes so fixated on saving gary, farrah, & rufus that he doesnt notice? But hes always been really aware of his attire 😭. Augh. I have to scrap that. :(
anyway, id say that his astral kingdom, & colin & gordon come with him. (Though theyll need their bodies resummoned. I think maybe they also absorbed(?) their younger counterparts). But not shade because he do WAIT FARRAH. okay farrah has to be dead before jason time travels OR colin & gordon cant come with him. Choices.
god this is so messy. So, assuming farrah’s dead, shade didnt go with them because he didnt bind himself to jason. Wait nvm. Farrah can live because gordon & colin dont? have souls? So the bond would probs break btwn jason & farrah but colin & gordon would be fine.
ANYWAYS. My thought is that (from where i am rn), shade wouldnt come with jason because hes not bound to jason as like a voice to his astral kingness.
okay, so jason then goes & saves rufus & farrah & gary & i think slaps a suppression collar on anise (cant kill her yet i dont think) & thats about as far as i got, because i dont wanna plan out a whole time travel fic yet. (Tho i do think having an outsider pov for this would be so good)
subsect of path 2: what if like instead of old jason absorbing new jason, we get the classic visions & scattered memories instead. & like they start before he ever goes to palamustus & jason just thinks theyre really vivid dreams/nightmares (hes lying to himself) & then he gets transported & finds out that they were visions of the future & he has to like scramble to remember what the early ones were & also either lie about not knowing shit, or probably lie about how he knows shit.
and i believe that is the time travel section!
i think im actually break this up into 3 parts because god this is long. B & iii might be in the same post tho.
sorry its so rambly but, as always, pls no spoilers!
#jason ur bi gdi#hwfwm spoilers#liveblogging#hwfwm#aufh i cant wait to reread this series#AND TAKE NOTES. I CAN FREAKING LOOK THINGS UP
