shes a SCIENTIST. unofficially. she doesnt have a degree nor a chosen field of study. she makes her own hrt and other mysterious concoctions, including designer chems. which she claims she ingests injects etc not for recreational purposes, but to Enhance Her Powers And Possibilities. she reads old world books about psychology so she can manipulate people better. and makes weird contraptions and doohickeys while high. shes a HACKER of course and hacks terminals and systems for fun and just to see if she can.

her stats are out there due to implants and intense training, originally they were rather average. in-game she wears combat armor mk 2, but i see her having spruced it up like this. her main weapon is the ycs/186, the unique gauss rifle, but before that she used a modded plasma pistol. which she very much enjoyed the silly appearance of. because it was so small and with so much shit tacked on and she could just hold it in one hand like a mutated revolver like Hands up motherfucker bang bang bang lol. her melee weapon of choice is the machete gladius, but she's been training to be able to wield a thermic lance.

in my head the trajectory of her actions and the fate of the mojave that follows is different from what you can do with the game, because leigh could only go for The Secret Leftist Route Which Was Supposed To Be In The Game But We Were Robbed Of It.

boone was the first friend she made after leaving goodsprings and their relationship is particularly notable. they are Comrades, Siblings-In-Arms, Worsties (like besties but fucked up). theyve seen each other at their worst. they annoy each other on purpose. theyve had serious ideological clashes with each other and some ways in which boone perceives the world drive leigh absolutely nuts. they're ride or die for each other. theyre the kind of comfortable around each other where she'll be on the toilet and smoking a cig with the door open and talking to him, while he's naked sitting on the floor removing stitches from his leg. she's done surgery without anesthesia on him. he's projectile vomited blood on her from being poisoned by cazadores. she strongly encourages him to become a traitor to the ncr and to take part in the revolution and the formation of the new independent mojave alliance. somehow, it works on him in the end. shamefully they kinda like snuggling... boone bro come to bed man its nighty night man its beddy bye time.

this one panel in issue #50 and it's, like, not THAT bad alright

fuck it im tired and had a long day this is my treat to myself. im talking about that panel. yes, THAT panel. which one?

THIS ONE. alrighty this is off the cuff and terrible, lets go.

so this panel isnt like, that bad in context when it comes to Sonic. i think specifically "ive made peace with enough enemies to know there is a better way" is a really interesting line here, because it calls back to the amount of times that the "villain" hes fought has just been a person whos hurting, and how hes been able to help those people. it makes sense that eventually hes more keen on trying to figure out someones whole story before deciding if theyve gotta go (which is rare).

but i want to talk about the FRAMING of this panel, and specifically the larger context of this issue in particular. theres a lot of flip-flopping in perspectives. usually, IDW is told through Sonic's perspective (loosely, this kind of thing is up to interpretation a lot), but in issue 50, it switches rapidly between four different groups -- Sonic and Surge, Tails and Kit, Eggman and Starline, and Belle and Metal. within these groups, the perspective its being told from changes a few times, but never as much as Sonic and Surge's do

i actually love these two when they interact as a storyteller myself, and one that has handled scripts too often for my own liking. Sonic and Surge do this thing where they push and pull the pacing of the script to fit their motives -- Surge keeps trying to escalate things, whenever shes in a panel everything starts pushing rapidly and it feels like the panels are tumbling off the page. when Sonic does anything, though, its slow and deliberate. hes having fun fighting, sure, but he can very much tell that Surge is trying to kill him and hes not having any of that. Sonic keeps things slow and focused, Surge tries to push things faster and unfocused. i could get into how this reflects her motivations and stuff but thats not what this is about i already lost track of what i was talking about fuck hang on

ok so. Surge knows shes supposed to be Sonic, to be BETTER than Sonic. its all she knows, really, and thats the problem. shes traumatized and full of rage and Sonic has been put on this high pedestal, not just by her, but by everyone. she cannot stand this.

this panel is how SURGE sees Sonic, specifically the composition. hes shrouded in light and physically above her -- its not even that subtle of a metaphor, they use it all the time in idw.

the entire overpowered saga shows Surge clawing for control of herself, her life, her freedom... this issue sets all that up in the main story. the way Sonic is framed here isnt how he sees himself at all. weve seen him do this exact same thing from his own perspective before, where everyone is on even ground. he doesnt see himself as above anyone, this instance of him being depicted as such isnt alluding to how Sonic feels about himself, its how Surge feels about Sonic.

and, look, its not the most well-done in the world. this issue has a whole host of problems, evident by the constant switching of focus from one group to a next (a problem that i think they did better on in the Phantom Rider saga). i literally forgot about Belle and Metal in this issue bc theres just so much more going on, i wouldve loved for them to slow things down a bit, maybe splitting it into two issues, but hey, what can you do, yk?

as an aside, i think its really weird how people narrow in on this specific panel of Sonic as being "so out of character", which i sorta like, 30% agree with (i think some phrasing could be better), and then ignore the page right after it...

...in which he pretty much says "you dont get freedom if youre gonna be a problem". funnily enough, on twitter i have this flow chart saved whenever i need a quick guide on Sonics morality and stuff, its really not that complicated

none of this is new imo, we see he has the same philosophy in sa1 and satbk. Chaos was blinded by rage and pain after being trapped for thousands of years RIGHT after they were attacked by the echidnas. Merlina was so scared of death (implied to be because she had lost family members and wasnt able to cope with it well) that she became a monster in an attempt to never let anything change ever again. these arent very different stories in my head i guess, just cases of Sonic seeing people who are hurting and doing his best to free them from that.

Realized his behavior and worked to better himself, and (lets be honest) practically begs this guy hes known for maybe 2 months (idk how long the main story takes place) to come back and make shows with him because??? Because tsukasa thinks hes just that good of a director? Or maybe its because ruis the one who made him realize his true dream again and what being a “future star” really means

I think the wonder halloween event might be the best example

Cus the reason i thought of this post is because i was reading tsukasa side story from that event and MAN is he cocky- like annoyingly so- idk why he was (and still is) my favorite /j

But anyway- i remembered just now that the whole plot of that event is rui learning not to hold himself back, which is a big part of his character development imo

On the other hand, ruis impact on tsukasa is less direct

Like i said its because rui first got him to realize his “true feelings” (as the game calls it), but after that its really all on tsukasa—well not quite-

See- a big part of Tsukasa’s character development is his constant realization of- i guess “his place in the world”

For me personally the phoenix edge event is a good example of him acknowledging it- but i realize it actually started way sooner

In the pop in my heart event- he realized that his acting is so far behind these american (or atleast english speaking) actors who can convey feelings through language barriers

Its his “humbling” arc if you will, he realizes just how far he needs to go, and its not that he’s not confident anymore, but that hes more aware of where his talents lie and isnt overconfident

And this is all stuff he learned more on his own- however: rui still helped propel this growth

He realized in the torpe event (on the stage of dazzling lights i believe-) that he had been holding tsukasa back by typecasting him, and decides to give him more diverse roles as well as let wxs do the play torpe in the first place (because as director, it was his final decision)

But after that—and this applies to all of wxs, but mostly nene+tsukasa—he goes and tries to figure out how to keep wxs together while still giving them the chance to grow as actors and not be confined to a stage

And he succeeds, and off wxs goes to improve!

They (and every character in game i feel) have changed and grown so much and its so awesome to see it happen—and its neat how much theyve influenced each other’s change through it all

So yeah— ruikasa(/p or /r idc) have helped each other grow so much and i hate them with a fiery passion /j

I'm putting out a warning for the user @jenniferpss/jenniferpzsss for likely being a scam and likely being run by notorious scammer Laura Deramas for the following reasons & proof:

Their blog has only existed since December 16th 2023, which is when they started asking for money.

They claim they live in the U.S but are "European" and are recieving healthcare in the U.S, while also asking for donations in American dollars. We've seen this with various other scams like nevermindblog where they claimed to be European but had their paypal currency set to U.S dollars. It's also weird to me that a European would go to a country with one of the most expensive healthcare costs in the world when there's several other, closer, much less expensive options that are equal (if not higher) in quality to the U.S to recieve healthcare within Europe. (Proof of that below)

On the note of calling themselves "European", they never specify what their Nationality or ethnicity is. Of course not all Europeans are the same, but that's precisely it, a lot of Europeans don't just call themselves "European", they'll happily list where they're from, and say something like "I'm Breton from France", or "I'm German" or "I'm from England", not just "I'm European". This allegedly European user doesn't and hasn't ever listed their country of origin, so they're likely faking an ethnicity

They claim they want to recieve donations via PayPal and Facebook pay, but to use facebook pay you have to have an active facebook account, which they refuse to give to people.

Below they also claim fbpay & paypal is "the only way I can recieve donations" despite the fact that cashapp & venmo, two of the most popular money transfer apps in the U.S, are available to Americans with an American address. If theyve been living long enough in America to be well incorporated into the American healthcare system, including having American insurance, an American specialist doctor, and a homecare nurse that they say they have in their donation post, then why can they not just use venmo or cashapp, which is available to anyone with an American address, which if they're telling the truth, they would definitely have? I find it hard to believe that someone who's been living in America for a while doesn't know about venmo or cashapp when asking for donations.

They claim in their donation post that they want to be "truly as transparent and honest as possible!", but then when someone asked jenniferpss to clear up some allegations against them & to be transparent, instead of doing what they said they'd do, they redirected, said the person asking questions was "attacking" them, and then didn't answer ANY of the questions. This would be suspicious enough on its own, but we've also seen such behavior from Laura in previous scams where, instead of answering reasonable, legitimate questions people had, she victimized herself and claimed ANY questions were a personal "attack" on her, regardless of how nicely worded.

They started spam messaging/asking people to reblog their donation posts, including sending these messages specifically to people who say they don't reblog donation posts bc they received an ask to.

Suddenly changed their url after being asked to address their suspicious behavior, which is a common scammer tactic. (Used to be @jenniferpss, now changed to @/jenniferpzsss, which you can see the difference & dates in the above and below screenshots)

In one of their posts, they specifically tagged two previous victims of Laura Deramas asking them to reblog their post, but ONLY them. If they're truly new to tumblr then why specifically tag those two users? How did they know about those users when they previously never interacted with either of them? Why did they ONLY tag those two users? We know Laura would often re-target other people who had donated to her or that she'd manipulated in the past for her newer scams where she pretended to be someone else, so this is typical Laura behavior. Note that the replies on their donation post are also restricted, which is ALSO typical scammer behavior

*she can control fire !thats soemthing shes able to do actually i decided now because shes like the queen of hell i mean comeon ?? flames of hell !? hell flames ?? it just works ... she cant do many fire tricks when notnin her demon form, but she can make fire appear with her fingers and also control it, she has verg good contrlm of it but soemtimes if she gets toomuch of a feeling she could just, potentially, light something on fire by accident. she needs to be very careful necause most of the times she doesnr want to loght soemrhing on fire by accident ! in her demon form, she can make larger fires appear and control them also. she can also control if they hurt someone or not, soemtimes she likes to start a bit of a fire that wont hurt someone but just scares then because it looks real and, therefore, dangerous. bit of a laugh for her really

*not exactly a power but someone once asked me if shes like hurt by cathokic or religoous imagerg things like crosses and rosaries and all that and yes ! she is !! it does burn her a bit and like a tingly .. stinging sensation ? it feels like if you fell into a pile of stingong nettles and then tried to scrape the skin off with a cactus. the pain is different for each thing !! ALSO !! VERY IMPORTANR !! the pain hurts less when theyre further away from it. for example, demon ragayha is in a chirch a lot because of pomni so shes always arouns relifious things bit as long as she doesnt touxh them or get VERY close to them they wont hurt her toomuch. if she gets really close to them or touches then they will hurt more

from lowest to highest on the pain scale, we have small obkects like rosaries or small crosses. the smaller the obkect, the less harm done. this is the lowest pain for that sort of stuff. overall 3/10 pain

then we have bigger obkects, things like statues or the bible woukd hurt more. this is like a bit more painful. overall 4/10 pain.

holy water is MUCH more painful on the scale. but holy watrr only works if it came from jesus birthplacr itself (nazareth) or if it was blessed from a priest, pope, or bishop. thats a proper 8/10 really painful for demons no matter your status (demon pomni and demon ragatha woukd both be hurt the same and feel the same amount of pain badically, doesnr matter the differences in status or strength for religious objects pain)

anything blessed by a priest or god themselves. also, if a priest, pope or bishop were to say a prayer and say it direftly TO them with intent to hurt (thats important, they have to say ir wirh intent to harm the demon) then this woukd be veryveru painful, proper 9/10 on the scale

What a lovely theatre it was so beautiful in there the CEILING was so nice. The chairs were comfy too. Uh the walls? They were great also. And the floors were walkable no doubt about it

No problems with the headphones at all except for early on when they all started dancing and jumping around the sound went nuts and the music got really staticy. Not sure if we just got a fritzy night or if thats a problem theyve consistently dealt with. The second the dancing stopped though it was fine again so!

Thats a big part of what really impressed me with the sound too it felt like you could really hear how tightly controlled it was and how much attention to detail theyd put into it with switching peoples mics on and off and adjusting volume when they shouted and looping and overlaying voices. And the sound effects worked really well!!! Incredibly effective and immersive. Sidenote a lady sat in front of us was like oh theres headphones? What are these for? Like i forgot not everybody has dedicated their lives to seeing this play and knows all about it

One downside might be that the audience cant hear themselves so theres a lot of coughing and sneezing and snuffling and snorfing and at one point someones alarm went off and when macduff was doing his all my pretty chickens moment someone was genuinely hacking up a lung behind us. I wonder if thats annoying for the actors LOL i hope the donmar proshot doesnt have a lot of that in the final mix because ill just die

LOVED the use of the glass partition the way theyd have everyone seated in a row and delivering the sort of expositiony lines like i said before. Especially in the second half of macbeth theres a lot of back and forth between lots of short scenes so i really liked the way they dealt with that it never lost momentum. And when they opened the glass and started CLIMBING OUT that was so great

Actually a favourite element was how everyone would start climbing onto the stage and crawling towards macbeth and grasping out at him that was so DELICIOUSLY creepy. Shout out to rona morrison who played lady macduff the woman with the red hair in braids she would crack this extremely unsettling smile whenever she went witchy mode and my eye was always drawn to her.

I have so many macbeths to compare this to bc i watched so many this year and this one is up there as a favourite for sure. I think the descent into madness is hard to do in a way that feels natural and not hammy but we can HEAR the voices in their heads and feel the pressure they feel as everything goes weird around them and the guilt starts to eat at them. I believed it i really did!! The sort of Snap the shift between when hes seeing the dagger versus when duncans dead and hes covered in blood again. YAYYY!!!!! I especially believed his speech about banquo that sort of escalation drawn out by paranoia when hes like make THEM kings???? The SONS of banquo. KINGS??? its like here we go girls…

Also comparing it to all the other macbeths i saw its SO GOOD to have an all scottish cast LOL it really is crazy how that simple change adds so so much

Cush jumbo and her big bright eyes HER EYESSSS shes a very powerful glowy presence in her white dress i loved the way she did this sort of gesture like shes having a migraine paired with the sound and the lights sort of getting keyed up and the ghostly child behind them both and the way she did the out damned spot WAIL and how she said come come give me your hand down low and sweet like to a little kid oh my god…

Im jumping around a lot but the porter was really fun and the way they really harshly snap back into the world of the play after it was really cool like the whole scene was all in HIS head too mmmm

I love when its funny GENUINE comedy like hahaha laughing out loud. It was a rough night! So annoying when you know it could be funny but the actors like nah this is serious business or my name isnt sir kenneth charles branagh. Lets have a giggle mate it makes the frightening parts scarier it makes the tragedy more depthful lets experience the range of human emotions together come on lets go

I just want to keep saying things that worked like the music worked the lights worked the smoke worked the bit where everyones being the witches worked the one child actor playing all the children worked the banquos ghost scene REALLY worked you have DISPLACED the MIRTH the idea that the two of them are carrying a lot of baggage from war and the loss of a child really REALLY works. I think thats the best compliment i can give it like theres nothing i feel like didnt achieve what they were going for or fell short. Im really really impressed by it super super super pleased for everyone for bringing the vision to life so clearly and effectively

some final “evidence in the epistolary” thoughts now that the fic is done and where the series (dubbed Concentricity, which spell check will NOT stop telling me isnt a real word) will go

really weird to think that, when i started this fic, i had no real idea where to take it, and thought the end was kind of derivative; i pushed really hard to make it feel earned and like a natural conclusion. everyones kind words have made me feel much better about it so, thank you for that :')

this was the first multi-chapter thing i have ever posted in my many years writing fic, reader insert or otherwise, and im really glad this is the fandom i debuted such a 'long form' fic in because i have gotten nothing but support and it means the world!!!!! ily!!!!! i wouldn't have dedicated so much time and effort into refining this thing without everyones comments and asks and such. im very proud of what i put out

(there are admittedly some things i wish i wouldve done differently but it wouldnt be the same story then, so...) (happy to answer any questions on that front if people are curious also!)

the 'yayyy they kissed' is a nice little pin if that is where the audience wants it to end, but it is not lost on me that ford has a true plethora of trust issues down to his core and that isnt going away because someone admitted to enjoying his presence. that stuff takes time and even if i can handwave ford and reader having months of communique behind them, whatever theyve got going on now is new territory and that starts from square one.

ALL this being said, the original idea for "Evidence in the Epistolary" was maybe 3 paragraphs of backstory in ANOTHER fic i was working on back in feb. so now.... i will simply return to that fic to explore what comes next. it'll take a much different shape than originally intended but is meant to explore ford and the reader learning to trust and be patient with one another, in terms of being intimate or otherwise. the plan is to make it nsfw -- we'll see how far i get in this idea since, despite my ao3 track record, i dont write smut often and think its one of my weaker skills. so this will be a fun way to train those muscles! hopefully! maybe?

(there may also be a third fic somewhere in the works but dont worry about that)

it'll be a little bit of time until the next fic is ready to start posting, mostly cause its still majorly unplanned vis-a-vis plot (its currently all vibes), but ill be steadily chipping away at it! in the meantime, i may try to write short things to stay up-to-date in the fandom and continue to get to talk to people about this old man <3 awkward old man enjoyers unite

i'd consider a pw stan (or just a stan of anything in general) to be someone whos incredibly obsessive and protective of the object of their stanning, so for example a pw stan, when faced with like the jw allegations, would be all "well she never said who it was! she was actually 17!" while ignoring the other compounding evidence or even just straight up saying shes lying about stuff or saying "it got disproved" without linking where this hypothetical disproving happened

just like blind adoration and an unwillingness to examine the flaws of what they stan or the harm what they stan has caused to the point of actively ignoring reality/slipping into really bad moral codes to justify their love of what/who they stan

theres a sort of militancy to it in a way, or like a culty aspect to it??? like there are only a few certain ideas that can be expressed that are permissible in the stan world but anything that goes against those permissible ideas are immediately violently attacked/harassed until it stops?? think "its illegal to hate ---" jokes, a lot of this behavior is hidden behind lots of jokes (everything is nowadays since we're all irony poisoned to shit) but i do believe those jokes kinda signal their mindsets and behavior

for people who just post about him im like 50/50 on them idk how to feel but idk if i'd consider them stans, it'd all have to do with how they engage in the discussions of pete's behavior over his career and the harm he's caused, like if you post pete but you actively engage in discussions of his issues and dont deny the facts of what happened and acknowledge hes a shitbag ig youre alright-ish (esp compared to the REALLY intense pw apologist/defender side of the fob fandom) but then i'd have to consider what itd mean to post the other members considering theyve stuck by pete for this long and possibly/probably are aware of the harm hes caused and seemingly dgaf (varying levels of guilt according to member since the dynamics of fob are complicated cuz of joe/pete arma thing he talked about in none of this rocks/the ages and the fact that patrick/joe havent been doing much outside of fob for a very large part of their lives since they were quite young and impressionable ykyk) its weird

who's your favorite character and why?

ok uhhh i have so many but since im in a fairfable phase rn im gonna go through why i love all the main characters (idk how well you know my content cause i obviously dont know who you are lol but ive posted about fairfable several times before and recently and this is gonna be the same kinda introductory thing (but each one has different details so))

there is just something about the obnoxious flirt who knows everyone loves them that makes me so happy and that character is zing. but zing is also my baby and deserves the world bc theyve given so much of themself to everyone else and they think theyre nothing more than the comic relief with a pretty face but they dont recognize their own strengths. basically their ego is all a coverup for their lack of self esteem. but what else could you expect from a shapeshifter who can change anything about themself at will?

lynx is adhd incarnate. she pushes things off tables and works herself to the bone cause thats the only way she knows how to make it in the world. she can also drop the wisest advice youve ever heard but refuses to follow any of it herself and she would go to war for any one of her friends or family. she's very close to my heart cause ive taken a lot of my own experiences and given them to her. when i say she's adhd incarnate (by the way im not claiming to be diagnosed i just relate to the experiences of having adhd and i wouldnt be surprised if i did end up having it) im writing all the aspects of that. yes, she is chaotic but she's also irritable and always tired and definitely burnt out and that aspect of her character is very important to me. also her fur is very soft and she gives really nice hugs when she feels like it

shailyn is also my baby even though she's kinda the mom of the group and the biggest and oldest member of the main cast. she doesn't know very much about the world and has a boomer-ish approach to technology (like if someone wants to show her something on their phone she holds it like 47 miles away from her face to look at it (this is mostly for comedic purposes and not because she has bad eyesight lol.) once she discovers emojis it will be OVER for ALL OF YOU.) she takes a lot of pride in the plants she's grown in and around the treehouse (and the tree itself of course) as well as the friendships she's started to form with these strange new residents. everything is a new adventure and she is loving every second of it

sal never really grew out of his emo phase (which lets just say he had a very good reason for as a teenager) and he struggles a lot with connecting with other people. thankfully he and lynx get along well and zing wont let him be a depressed recluse so he's forced out of his old habits and eventually opens up.

EDIT: and finally Nema who I forgot somehow even though shes really important to the plot and everything (i was tired and delirious when i wrote this and i def thought i already wrote her section.) basically her whole thing is that because of her visions she's seen as too different from everyone else. her own family sees her as a bad omen because of a bad thing she predicted which of course ended up coming true, and, growing up, she was never really let in by the other kids. she's here for the kids who felt like they were left out of the joke. but if anyone ever took the time to get to know her, they'd see a sweet, intelligent person who is so much more than her visions. her dreams havent been realized yet, but she hopes that once they are people will see her as more than the weird girl who zones out in the middle of her sentences and mutters vague ominous prophecies when she's not thinking. she drops savage comebacks like lynx drops advice, and she's always here to support her friends the way she never was. this is a show about found family and people being more than their past experiences and how people have seen them. and nema embodies that concept, which is why she's so so important.

okay soo recently ive been reading through a lot of my older ficz to try and get a feel for how much the au haz changed since last year [ive been writing for the au since last year ??? hwaaaatt ??? D: ???]

and . among otherz thingz . ive kind of realized that my way of writing shrig nd larz [and . subsequently . their relationship also] haz changed so much ; id really like to take a moment and talk about all the progress ive made and how im pretty happy with the place ive ended up in right meow

at first . ive written their relationship to be something of a "behind clozed doorz" sorta deal – theyd only feel comfortable expressing romantic feelingz towardz one another when they were alone in a clozed off . secluded space

however . ever since mizu5 came out . ive been re-evaluating and reshaping their dynamic a lot [not only have i changed some of my viewz since march / april – october . but mizu5 waz such an important event for me . becauze i had taken a ton of inspo from it to uze for larz]

and thiz now sorta breakz up into two :

shrignoldz feelingz ; he thinkz of hiz feelingz az something "impure" . and that "thiz izn't the correct way to think" – he doez everything in hiz power to try and "rezist temptation" for he iz a divine figure . and thinkz thiz iz just "a test from the great lord" but . even so . he can't help but feel drawn to larz ; in certain momentz . thiz sort of wall hez barricaded comez down for just a fraction of a second and . instead of meeting him with hostility and apprehension . will really express hiz appreciation for the other ... but not in that way !!!

and larz feelingz ; hez evolved CONSIDERABLY more than shrignold in thiz year [i mean . hez no longer just a "comic relief" character] ; the feelingz he has for the lovebug are something he wholeheartedly knowz will never be reciprocated – already . larz knowz shrignold would never see him az someone to love but . if he knew about hiz secret . hez certain that it would only end worse for him – hiz past experiencez have convinced him hez unlovable if he confessez to anything ; he sometimez sayz vaguely flirtatiouz thingz . but a lot of people will typically play them off az a joke or az just "drunken babblingz" ; he really wantz there to be a world where he and shrig could be together . but itz definitely not thiz one

overall . and in other wordz . theyve kinda went from "alright . no one haz to know about thiz – itz a secret between four eyez" to "i don't LIKE you like that . what ever gave u that impression ?? haha ?? [nervouz laughter]"

presumably dead human - definitely dead (thats most ghosts most ghosts are dead. non-dead ghosts are classed under spirits) i've established that he's dead

COD unknown (he doesnt like to talk about it) (most ghosts do not like to talk about it. I recommend not asking ghosts about the circumstances of their deaths.)

whatever it was was probably fairly traumatic and he misses being alive. he is spiteful towards prosciutto, who is a lich (basically voluntarily zombified himself with necromancy in a bid to achieve immortality) LEARN TO DIE LIKE A REAL MAN FUCKHEAD I DIDNT DIE A GRUESOME DEATH TO SEE SOME PASTY-ASS BLOND FUCKER EVADE DEATH LIKE A FUCKING COWARD

He is only able to appear in mirrors / reflections. While he's able to be outside of mirrors, he is invisible / inaudible (unless under certain conditions). When seen inside of mirrors, his skin and particularly eyes appear to be shattered, so it's possible that when he manifests in a mirror, he's accompanied by a cracking noise when he moves as the mirror breaks. The mirrors only appear broken where he is, so they probably repair themselves when it comes to specifically this.

his fingers are often seen broken off in a jagged fashion, which makes his body appear to actually be glasslike or maybe statuesque. Which fingers are broken may not always be consistent, and the extent to which they are broken can differ, but his hands are never fully intact. Sometimes they are missing completely (though never both at once... at least hopefully, ‘cause that would fucking suck for the poor bitch).

other parts including his arms and legs (and maybe even his ponytails on rare occasion) can sometimes also be seen 'broken off'. whether this affects him directly in terms of him "actually" missing those parts is questionable. but if he's manifested and his leg appears damaged it does seem to impact his mobility, and its not entirely clear when or how these breakages occur / repair / change / etc

illuso likely spends a lot of his time in the mirror world because it's the only place where he actually exists as a physical entity and can (possibly?) make physical contact with people. hes actually very lonely and really misses the ability to hug people under normal circumstances but of course he would never fucking admit that.

Being in the mirror world isn't necessarily the same as manifesting inside of the mirrors, though it appears similarly; when manifested inside of a mirror, he sort of becomes part of the mirror, whereas when in the mirror world, he can actually move around independently from where the mirror is despite being ‘inside’ the mirror still. In both cases, he is visible, but intangible outside of the mirror world itself, since he's inside of the mirror, and not just being seen reflected in the mirror. He can therefore be outside the mirror, wherein he's 'semicorporeal': he can kinda be made contact with, but is completely invisible and would mostly just get in the way, and only his reflection is actually being seen.

Sorbet's Stand (Super Trouper) has an ability that is light-based (it pretty much uses light to knock people out). This could be a bit troublesome considering Illuso has to be in a mirror to manifest which perhaps risks redirecting Super Trouper's light which was funny once (despite Gelato's rage) but problematic the second time

There's most likely at least one mirror in almost every room of La Squadra's Hideout, because Illuso would be unable to interact or communicate properly with the others otherwise. illuso everywhere system

Formaggio has used Little Feet to shrink down mirrors for easy illuso transportation and im not sure if theyve just forgotten that compact mirrors are a thing orrrr……..

so the first thing to know is that apoc au falls in line with my longstanding polyam bi salqueen hc. they are both in multiple healthy consenting relationships with different dynamics. fran/sal/queen is a thing, mchicks is a thing, etc. theyre all queer and all respectful mature adults, they have a lot of love to give, and theyre having a lot of fun!

-What happened to Sally?

in apoc au tho, sally dies very sadly early on. she survives the blast initially and is coherent enough to say her goodbyes, but her injuries take her within a week or so. 996's have an infamous catostrophic engine failure point and are notorious for blowing up, so her odds werent great. with the entire planet in chaos, its hard to help survivors at all...

-Are there any definite relationships?

the main relationship of apoc au winds up being... lightning/chick. yep. chick is visiting his old 'pal' in radiator springs (lightning and cruz stopped home for some rare downtime during the busy season) when it all goes to hell. everyone dies, and 1 billion metric tons of trauma later, chick and lightning accidentally wind up codependent. (cant blame them!).

so far, lightning has 2 other relationships in apoc au. jackson survives, and decides to not sit on his longtime crush on lightning anymore on account of the world being massively fucked up, and confesses his feelings. i also have an oc in development, a medic named Dr. Amiyah Sparkwright who shares feelings with lightning also. both of them dont appear til later in the story, after the characters start to rebuild. all of them are too traumatized to be super serious though... the angst ;,,)

-What happened to the rest of the townfolk?

the rest of the townfolk died pretty much instantly, save for mack, who also died slower. i guess its sort of like a thanos snap? except the bodies dont vanish. chick, lightning, and cruz bury them when they realize no one is coming to save anyone.

-Do any of the main survivors die later?

and do any of the main cast die... spoilers!! but yes, chick dies about 15-20 years in. initially, in the early-early drafts back in 2019ish, chick died only a few years in. changing this and adding him to the main party has shifted everything- his chaos-loving spirit, tricky resourcefulness, and boundless rude comedy are exactly what the story needed. combine that with the pacifist/optimist cruz and the endlessly loving determination and charm of lightning, and its an incredibly fun dynamic. that, and they're all hardened survivors now- big changes happen to these characters, and part of the fun is exploring that (or, how theyve stayed the same despite the changed world!).

to be fair to chick, hes like, 70 by the time he dies, so he does pretty well. Non has a list of ideas on how chick goes, and i love them all too much to decide, tho i am a big fan of him being murdered on a failed supply run. a few other minor characters will also die, oc's and canon. and i havent decided what happens to cruz and lightning yet, i'm not sure if it matters, they may live to old age!
