Sometimes I see reviews about D&W where people think Worst Wolverine's backstory is super lacking. That they expected something epic like how Mysterio tricked Logan to slaughter everyone in the Old Man comic run.
But that plot, at least to me, doesn't make The Worst Wolverine. It probably makes the Most Tortured Wolverine -- the story of a man slaughtering his own family with his bare hands because he was mind controlled. Which inevitably created a power vacuum so gigantic that the world basically collapsed as supervillains take over the world.
But the title of Worst Wolverine should belong to the Logan that completely abandons his most important moral value: to be the protector.
Sure, he tends to be nomadic and at times self-isolates, but at his core he truly knows what it means to be a pack animal: to be a part of a cohesive family unit, rely on others, be a guardian for the weak.
In a literal sense, a common backstory for him was that he just fucked off from human society after he mutated to live with a pack of wolves. He turned feral, but they also taught him about the importance of community.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if you aren't a fan of the wolf background (which I AM because I think it's funny and dramatic as hell), there's other stories where he got taken care of by the Blackfoot Tribe and Lord Ogun before somehow winding up in the Weapon-X Program. Then, the Hudson family rescued him and helped him gain his humanity back after the adamantium experiments. He joined Department H, and sometime after, he found his place with the X-Men.
My point being that past or present, Logan has always belonged to a family. He needs it -- his human AND animal side both need it. He's not meant to be a creature of solitude. When he is, it's a form of punishment that he inflicts upon himself because he doesn't feel worthy to be around the people he loves or he's worried about hurting them. Or it's something inflicted upon him -- aka he's been captured and is being experimented on.
So what does all this tell us about Logan's moral code? He cares deeply for others because it's in his nature to be a part of a pack and he will do anything to protect them.
He's very caring towards animals (ex. looking after wolves that took care of him, mercy killing a bear in The Wolverine, and saving the horses in Logan). He tried to save Silver Fox's life when Sabretooth attacked her. When his wife Itsu was murdered, he relied on the advice of Lord Ogun to get vengeance for her with the Muramasa Blade. He joined Department H and Alpha Flight because he owed the Hudsons so much after re-acclimating him to society. He stayed with the X-Men because Charles gave him a home, family, and purpose outside of being a weapon. He enabled him to be the good man that he is by not only using his powers for the good fight but also being a teacher for the students.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a character, Logan was created to reflect the archetype of the cowboy/samurai with the morals of honor, integrity, and justice. He's also not afraid to be judge, jury, and executioner for the people he loves. He's a man of action.
So what is the antithetical? A man who dishonors himself by not taking his job seriously. A man of inaction who abandons those he loves. A man who doesn't seek justice but wallows in regret and guilt.
And what did the Worst Wolverine do?
Tumblr media
He let his fondness for drinking harm his work. While he was drinking at a bar, a group of humans invaded the X-Mansion and killed a large part of the staff, students, and X-Men. He entered a berserker rage where he murdered the invaders AND innocent people. He tarnished the legacy of the X-Men.
The title of Worst Wolverine doesn't go to the man who got brainwashed and killed without knowing. The title goes to the Logan who killed indescriminantly and didn’t want to stop.
He chose to walk away when they called out for him. He went into a beast state that made the public completely turn against the X-Men in just one night. Instead of making up for his sins, he just went back to the bar -- the very thing that killed his family. He did everything he could to go against his morals of honor, integrity, and justice.
He was a man who failed his family.
THAT'S what makes him The Worst Wolverine.

Gale Killed Prim, and his relationship with Katniss ended because of it. Why is Peeta different?
"Why was she able to forgive Peeta but not him? She had dismissed Gale from her life with barely a blink. Snow had twisted Peeta’s gifts and turned him into a weapon against the people he loved. Hadn’t Coin done the same thing to Gale? He loved Prim like his own sister." A quote from oakfarmer on ao3 that I actually have SO many thoughts on, though I can't remember which of their fanfics this is from. Darn me for not labelling my notes well enough.
What it boils down to, for me I think, is that the capitol has to create things to manipulate Peeta but D13 used what was already there for Gale. Gale already had a mean arrogant streak and wasn't good at taking criticism or rejection. He already had a cold callousness about killing and death. He was already a bit radicalized, and Coin did twist that into something worse. No, Gale didn't kill Prim, Coin did. BUT Gale did invent the weapon + tactic used by his ally and superior to kill her. Katniss told him it was wrong, this trap he'd made, and he condescended to her about it, how this is just how war works. Acted like she was just naive about it. His own ignorance of the reality of life and death and his complete disregard for human life on the other side of the war is what got Prim killed.
Peeta, on the other hand, is nothing like his highjacked self. They didn't take pieces of his personality, personal flaws, etc. and twist them into their perfect soldier. The capitol had to use false memories, had to inflate his insecurities, had to use chemicals and torture and mutated venom. They didn't make Peeta aggressive through hatred or vengeance, they made him aggressive through bodily fear. The venom and his body's extreme adrenaline, the fight or flight response to that. He didn't attack Katniss bc he thought he was better than her or bc she deserved it, he attacked her because the very sight of her caused his body to go into overdrive of adrenaline to protect himself from her. This is a Peeta that *hates* Katniss, and he wants to kill her, but her specifically. He only reacts negatively towards other people (other than normal trauma-induced stuff) when she is involved somehow, like him flipping out on Delly while Katniss watched behind the glass.
These characters are not equivalent. And from a meta perspective, they're not supposed to be. Katniss ends up picking Peeta. Yes, the character obviously would have picked him, but also Katniss as a narrative figure picks him. She picks what he represents. Integrity in war. That boy on the rooftop that said he was willing to kill in self defense and to do what he needed to do but wanted to stay himself. Wanted to stay a human being even in that violence. Wanted to come out the other side of it still intact. Wanted the flowers to grow again after the harsh winter; a dandelion in the spring. Not the cycle of destruction, of forever punishing those that have wronged you, that both Gale and a capitol-kids hunger game would represent.
Which brings my thoughts also to the male loneliness epidemic. (We won't even get started on the fact that when women have problems it's something they need to just get over and take a joke, but when men have problems it's an epidemic) That is Gale. Yes, he has absolutely valid reasons behind his emotions. But he then takes those emotions and becomes radicalized, become something lesser. And that is so indicative of our current political climate in a lot of ways. Men have been hurt by the patriarchy also, they have been raised and socialized and desensitized and to not forming genuine emotional connections with the men around them or the women there in a relationships with. And I do separate those specifically, because men are also taught to not see women as people, so to a lot of men you are either a. someone they are related to b. someone they are romantically interested in or c. someone they are sexually interested in. And that is all a woman can be to them, not a friend.
So every which way they turn men are not taught the skills it takes to not be lonely. Community and having a support system and a network of people doesn't just happen by accident. That is something that you build, and cultivate, and prune, and intentionally add to. Men are lonely because they want someone else to do the work for them. But the onus is on them and the system that made them that way.
And that man is the same as Gale. Someone who is rightfully hurt and wounded by the society they live in but then takes those real feelings and experiences and lets it justify all of the awfulness that follows.
Gale and Peeta are not equivalent. In dumbed down terms, Gale became bad because of what was already in him and then was fine to stay that way. Peeta became bad because of something someone else put in him, and then he did the work to not stay that way.
Oakfarmer again, to bring my rambling back to its original point: "Snow turned Peeta into a weapon, Coin turned Gale into a weapon. Both had been unleashed to destroy Katniss. They were the same, but they weren’t the same at all. The Capitol pumped venom into Peeta to create a hateful mutt. Coin only needed to provide an outlet for the hateful venom already circulating Gale’s veins. Hate and rage, he had never tried to suppress. Hate and rage, Peeta painstakingly clawed his way out of to recover his identity."

Big tw: for child abuse and manipulation
Idk about u Babez but I really would like to see jack winters featured in Scott’s story in mainstream x men adaptations. Like idk I just feel like it’s a really integral part of his character (which is why all the beauteous fic writers include him) that just gets ignored in the shows and movies!
Like scoots has a ton of trauma already but there is something so upsetting about jack winters and the also how he parallels other people in Scott’s life (specifically Xavier and sinister).
I think it was demonstrated best in the children of the atom comic, especially that scene where scott comes home and jack just starts raging out of nowhere. But also in other comics you see how he can be ‘nice’ to Scott like getting him his glasses but this further tightens his control over him making Scott think that his only option is staying with him. Jack knows Scott is way more powerful than him so he abuses him to make him feel helpless then does basic things like let him go to school (which I thought was odd that he was registered as Scott’s foster father in CoA since he’s a wanted criminal but then I was like oh he’s using a fake identity and having Scott at school means he can get money from the government which somehow makes it even more gross)
Like just from Scott’s pov, he’s on the run after accidentally destroying the orphanage, effectively blind for fear of opening his eyes and living with a traumatic brain injury and the after effects of sinister’s experiments, thinking he’s some sort of monster because of his mutation. He was probably homeless for a long long time which would be even harder due to his blindness and then suddenly he is approached by a man who he inexplicably trusts (since Jack is a low level telepath) who gives him food and shelter and what’s more he’s a mutant just like Scott. Scott probably thinks this is the only person in the world who understands him but then little by little he gets coerced into doing things he doesn’t want to do just little crimes at first and when he refuses jack becomes a terrifying monster that beats him and yells before calming down and reminding Scott that if he wasn’t such a dumb ass he wouldn’t get angry but hey Scott can’t help it being an idiot because his head is fucked up.
Then after raging he gives Scott the greatest gift, his sight back and what’s more he lets him go to school because he finds scott irritating so it would be nice for him to be out of his hair for awhile, maybe learn how to look people in the eye and stop mumbling like an idiot. Also he better do well in class and also no he’s not going to be allowed to take gym class not because of the signs of abuse, but because what if his glasses get knocked off and well it’d suck if they find out what a freak scott really is right? They’d probably send him to die in prison but Scott shouldn’t worry because Jack always looks out for him even if he’s an irritating pissant.
So Scott does everything jack says but it doesn’t stop the raging and Scott becomes convinced that he’s just a rotten to his core and that’s why Jack gets so mad at him. But it’s hard to keep up appearances at school when he’s so terribly underweight, wears the same dirty clothes everyday and can’t help zoning out during class because he was up all night helping Jack commit crimes, so Scott avoids getting to know anyone and it’s pretty easy because people tend to avoid the greasy haired weirdo with stupid glasses.
Then the heist at the nuclear plant happens and suddenly Scott is being coerced by another telepath to kill Jack and he just can’t do that, jack is the only one who could tolerate him, he gave him back his sight, he took him in when the world wanted nothing to do with him.
Then this telepath says he’s taking Scott to his home and he’s going to be a weapon for him but unlike Jack it’s for the greater good but Jack also said that, well what other choice does he have? Scott’s always been a useful object even if he is an brain damaged idiot so he goes, maybe it won’t be easy for Xavier to beat him like Jack but he’s also an infinitely more powerful mutant compared to jack but maybe if Scott does everything he says he won’t hurt him or at least not more than he deserves.

I have just rewatched all three McAvoy/Fassbender X-men movies and I have thoughts:
Firstly I'm sorry, but JLaw is letting down the side here
I know that Mystique's whole deal is supposed to be escaping her overbearing, unaccepting brother to Be Who She Is TM but someone should have told McAvoy that because what actually happens is that she is Rebel without a Cause and he is adoring, slightly overprotective brother who just wishes his sister's teenage rebellion didn't include things like "walking around naked" and "hitting on his boyfriend"
Actually, all of their interactions are kind of weird. Charles clearly did some serious work to take care of her, even though they don't talk about it in detail - but like, he somehow integrated a random child he found in the kitchen into his family well enough that she's still there 10+ years after the fact.
Which makes Erik's "you didn't raise her, you grew up with her" in the second movie feel just a little disingenuous because, like, their dynamic in the early parts of First Class is very clearly that he takes care of her and she throws little hissy fits about him trying to get laid
Also, Charles's little rehearsed speech about groovy mutations versus throwing himself off a ship to save Erik's life? Talk about a difference in investment
On an unrelated note, Erik is really the king of creating his own problems in these movies. Obviously his childhood trauma is real and serious and we are not discounting this. But he's so convinced that a war is coming that he nearly starts it himself twice and then tries to help a third time
He is also the cause of basically all of Charles's suffering, but weirdly incidentally every single time? Like he paralyzes Charles, but by accident. And he basically breaks Charles's telepathy by breaking his heart but I genuinely think he thought Charles wanted him to leave at that point. And then he drops a stadium on Charles but I don't think that was precisely the intention. And then he basically hands him over to get sacrificed to an ancient evil but that wasn't part of the initial plan either?
Side note on that broken heart thing - that is a canonical thing that Charles says out loud in basically so many words and McAvoy is breaking my heart for most DoFP, I'm not gonna lie.
And Charles not mentioning the fact that he can't feel his legs until after Erik has left is something I am still not over even though it's been like 15 years.
Apocalypse is stupid. I said what I said.
But Charles absolutely refusing to convey the message he was trying to force him to broadcast and simultaneously sneaking a separate message out to Jean? Deeply badass.
Hank and Mystique are so tonally confusing in Apocalypse. There is a scene where they are complaining that Charles wants "students not soldiers" where the tone is clearly, God, why won't Charles let us have child soldiers, what a lame-o"
This is followed by a scene where they are talking to the kids about the original X-Men where they say "Hank and I are the only ones left" and first of all, way to act like Charles wasn't there. Secondly, there were only two more of you, who died over the twenty years following that mission, and that is sad but don't act like there was some kind of massacre. Thirdly, you were LITERALLY just pushing for more child soldiers, why do you suddenly sound like this was some tragedy that was inflicted on you.
Also, there's some BS about Hank wanting to start up the x-men "like we always talked about" and I would love to know when these conversations happened because they did the first mission out of necessity, and then Raven f-ed off for the following twenty years with only brief appearances, so.
Also, I haven't seen Dark Phoenix, but from what I've heard they inexplicably do a complete flip-flop on this and suddenly Charles is the monster pushing the kids on dangerous missions and Mystique thinks they shouldn't be making child soldiers? So that's deeply hypocritical and weird and inconsistent, if accurate.
I didn't have as many thoughts about Erik as I thought other than Fassbender is magnificent but his "join me brothers" voice is a little over the top sometimes
Where's that meme about Charles slutting his way into things and slutting his way out? I miss that one.

Modern Personal Assistant Labru AU ✨📋🐉
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Laios is a renown animal/monster expert (not sure yet if this is modern as in no monsters or just a modern version of their realm w/ monsters included)
- he does most of his research independently, occasionally working alongside small groups of other scientists
- a new animal species / monster mutation emerges that completely captures the world’s and Laios’s interest. As one of the top zoologists / monsterologists in the nation, he gets requested to head the first ever research on this unknown creature.
- something about this species is so bizarre that in addition to studying it, Laios is suddenly also having to do press conferences to explain to the masses wtf is going on.
- … except he kind of can’t. the first time he gets on the mic in front of a bunch of people, one reporter asks if there is concern for reproduction as we’ve only found two females of the species. Laios goes on a 20 minute rant about the egg laying process they recently discovered and how according to x-rays of the eggs they do not require a mate to reproduce but appear to still seek and thrive off of community. A conference that should’ve had enough time to answer dozens of questions ends with him only have answered two and a half, as he greatly struggled to be succinct and not derail into mile long explanations. But to Laios, every detail counts!! They’re all important pieces to the puzzle!
- his boss pulls him aside— “listen, you’re the only person on the planet at the moment who has the most knowledge about this thing. if you’re going to also be it’s’ spokesperson, you need to handle your PR better and read the room. we’ve assigned you an assistant to help with any future public appearances.
- enter Kabru, works in public relations, usually political, and is all too comfortable with addressing the masses. local elections just ended and so as a PR specialist he’s being assigned unconventional work by his management company during this downtime, which includes a rambly scientist with zero social cues or ability to read the room.
- Kabru sits down with Laios at a café a few days before the next conference and they run through a little practice session. Kabru clears his throat and acts as a reporter.
- “So, Mr. Touden, how long do you expect the research to go on for before we know if we can integrate this species into our local environments? Is it even safe for us to be near them?”
- “it’s not a question on whether or not it’s safe for us but whether or not it’s safe for them. they seem to be flighty little guys, and don’t even agitate or fight when provoked. but something about the oils from human skin damages their feathers, they have almost the same texture and composition as paper. it’s really fascinating actually, they somehow appear to be resistant to water but our oils break them down very quickly, and so we’re thinking they might thrive better on reserves people can’t access. but that’s also not exactly ideal due their apparent difficultly living in captivity and small spaces, as well as the potential need to migrate. closing off their environment may actually—“
- Kabru knows deep, deep down in his heart of hearts that he needs to cut the man off right then and there, show him how he could be more concise and clear with his words, and maybe not ramble so much. but Laios is positively glowing with both wonder and genuine concern for this creature, and Kabru cannot help but be completely captivated.
another plot bunny,,
so i've been reading too much Self-Insert Sukuna AKA SIkuna, and because i've been busy on the mha/bnha fandom for some time, and because i adore crazy crossover story so i kinda want to write a fic about :
a totally random workaholic surgeon who love jjk bcs watching anime is the only entertainment he allowed himself to have, got reincarnated as sukuna without remembering his first life, only some glimpses and liking similar things, and he still became sukuna the sorcerer and then ryomen sukuna the king of curses. after he got separated into 20 fingers (still one of the most hilarious shit that happened), he got reincarnated into takami keigo aka hawks.
his third life as hawks he remembered a lot of shits about being sukuna and his first life (when he also hilariously named keigo), mostly how strong and crazy he was, and how easily for him to destroy villages and humans, and how in his first life he became a surgeon to help people but somehow he became a monster in his second one so the GUILT is very much there, so he very much tried to do everything to use his power, his quirk, for good and become a hero. one of the reason why he's way more mature and capable to be a top three heroes before 25 is because he's old old and he got the advantage of once being the strongest.
in the end, after the war where he thankfully didn't lose his quirk and somehow became hpsc president and start to revolutionized japan heroics, he tried to find out about the old jujutsu society and how the fuck did the curse energy changed so much that even the mundane people able to manifest their curse technique and it changed into quirks. the society pretty much integrated with the 'mundane' because their curse technique also mutated into quirks, and because people use their quirks a lot and controlled their curse energy, in a way, they didn't create curses anymore so in the end geto (and yuki) got what they want, a world without curses and so the jujutsu society wasn't really needed anymore.
but bcs hawks knew the world history very well he also knew that those changes is not without consequences, there will always be quirkist people and in the beginning ppl are afraid of those quirked ppl but thankfully bcs jujutsu society did their job to ease tensions when more and more ppl with quirk born.
when he died as hawks, he was pretty young but not as young as his first life, probably around 35-40yo. but instead of finally resting peacefully in the afterlife, he immediately incarnated back into sukuna BUT this time inside itadori yuuji, while also remembering ALL of his life, first as the ordinary dude who love jjk, second as sukuna in heian era, and third as top hero hawks.
when sukuna took over yuuji to exorcise the curse on top of the school, he freaked out a lot bcs I THOUGHT I WAS DONE WITH THE LIVING WORLD and so when megumi tried to exorcise him he just said "shut it, i'm having an existential crisis, also what year is it now?" before yuuji took over, gojo came and they have their talk.
when gojo ask yuuji to let sukuna take over for prob one minute, he finally gathered enough wit (even tho he still freaked out) to, yknow, just talk instead of fighting each other, and gojo humor him for a bit.
SIkuna : "so sorcerer... sugawara? sugawara descendant? what year is it?"
gojo, amused : "the name's gojo now, and why do you want to know?"
SIkuna, very much done w life bcs he just want to pass to the afterlife : "because dipshit, this is actually my fourth life instead of second, and i want to know if i manage to travel forward or backward in time or even to a different dimension. from the infrastructure and language and the existence of curse energy, I'm still in the same japan and could be around 21st to 24th century. if you would be so kind to answer my question about what year is it today?"
gojo, having so many question because what the fuck did sukuna mean by fourth life??? : "...it's 2018."
SIkuna : "so curse energy hasn't evolve and awakened everyone's curse technique and change it into quirks yet?"
gojo : "...what the fuck."
SIkuna : "yeah, that happened on my third life but i was born around year 2335. someone or something upstairs, probably one of the power-that-be, definitely messed up my reincarnation cycle. it's weird."
gojo (and megumi who listened to the whole convo) : "..."
SIkuna : "oh well, the brat is starting to suppress me, so i'll take my leave and please don't contact me for the next few days because i want to sort out all of my memories first."
sukuna def freaked out a lot of people with his nonchalant attitude and 'i already lived through three way different but similar in craziness lifetime, im not afraid of anything anymore, what more would they do, kill me? been there done that got THREE different trauma', tried to change the timeline and also balancing having THREE separated lifetime worth of memories, trying to not becoming heian-era-sukuna but also knowing he can't be both keigos again, also somehow befriending all of the jujutsu high students (first and second years), being seduced by gojo (who at first doing this only because he wants information but then bcs he likes it), having tea with nanami/yaga while also has three lifetimes worth of rambling about the state of the world (the good thing is we won't die bcs of global warming, but also WHY WAS EVERY HIGHER UP ARE ALL SHITTY PEOPLE), and somehow he did it and save the timeline?????
he also had some talks with yuki (and with gojo too) about curse energy-curse technique-quirks, while also telling them he didn't know a lot of shit bcs a lot of written records got lost during the troubling years.
yuki : "but that means it happened, right? no more curses and no more sorcerers dying."
sukuna : "well yeah, but there's nearly a century full of change. the country all around the world are slow on changing things, esp here in japan. the system isn't perfect and i did spend a decade rebuild the system after the war-"
gojo : "what do you mean by war?"
sukuna : *briefly talk about his job as japan top hero and the war with all-for-one* "...and yeah in the end i prob didnt do much but i do hope my sidekicks, allies, and employees can continue my works and make japan heroics a better place."
gojo : "....sukuna marry me."
sukuna : "HA?!"
yuki : *laughing*
thats... more or less the whole plot i kinda want to write,,, probs gonna add more ha
(feel free to use this long-ass post as inspiration or something!! i... probs gonna write them on ao3, like, maybe??? probably???? yeah,,)
I don't actually have all of the characters in this AU properly fleshed out yet, so a lot of them don't have assigned magic/powers yet. of those that do, I have a few with magic/powers that I think are very cool and deserve recognition. so, obviously, I'm going to yap about all of them ^-^
(not in any particular order)
firstly, we have Ro with his soul magic, specifically specializing in the sentient soul aspect of it. he does nefarious things with this magic, including manipulation, both subtle and unsubtle :D
second up, RAT who is a spellcrafter (essentially a mage who does technical magic like enchantments + crafting magic items, kinda like dnd artificers but. yk. magic) and a blood mage. (quick tangent on blood magic: it's powerful but dangerous to the caster, as it corrupts the user and can is addictive)
betcha didn't expect to see RAT here lol
i'm full of surprises ^-^
anyways! the fun thing about blood mages is that they can drink the blood of others (who have magic, ideally) to steal a bit of their magic + energy, which can act as a pick-me-up. drinking the blood of another can also create a bond that allows the blood mage to keep track of the victim :D (it can be mutual, but the process is a little different. also different traditional uses lol)
(yes. yes I did essentially make RAT a vampire. what else did you expect from me /lh)
uhh third cool magic person and second csmp member: diansu who is basically a human spellcrafter (specifically technopath) and somehow integrated himself with a buncha tech, technically making him a cyborg AI thing? idk tbh I just think it's cool (in a magic-based AU, no less)
um. that's it for the amount of worldbuilding I've got rn, I think (like seriously I have like 2 nearly empty sheets full of characters I have not developed yet bc it's not really necessary rn this is kinda ridiculous). drop an ask in like 6 months/after i've started posting a longfic on this au asking me abt the characters with my fav magic/powers and I'll almost definitely have extra answers /hj
(honorable mention: literally any csmp member their magic is mutated so they're so interesting lol)
I think what many Pokemon Legends game ideas get wrong, i think at least, is using a legendary for the name of the game, like "Legends kyurem" or "Legends Zygarde". Many times people use the third legendary of the main three for the title, but Giratina wasn't the one to get a Legends game, in fact it would have made more sense to have a Legends Giratina as a parallel to platinum, since it released with the Sinnoh remakes.
The one who got the spotlight was another important, but not heavily featured pokemon, Arceus, a mythical pokemon. So I think there's a higher chance for the next Legends game to feature a mythical with predominance. In Legends Arceus there was also many mythicals that we could catch without needing special events, making them more acessible, so maybe the Legends series will in general make mythicals more acessible?
I was thinking of a Kalos Legends game and I think Pokemon Legends Hoopa would be the best choice, it can teleport you back in time with it's rings, without the need for Arceus intervention. In ORAS because of Hoopa's rings we can catch legendaries from other regions and their themes aren't updated because they're supposed to be from the older games' timelines, this happens in USUM too, so I believe Hoopa is too interesting to not use.
Diancie and Volcanion should also appear, Volcanion has so little lore, the most interesting thing it has is the fact that in the southern part of the Kalos region, Volcanion is revered, people believe that a steam explosion caused by Volcanion created the plain where they live. This probably references the region of Occitania, the mountainous region that covers most of southern France and whose regional flag Volcanion takes its design from, which is really cool.
Diancie could also be integrated in the plot, maybe instead of her needing to make a new Diamond Heart for the Diamond Domain, the very first Diamond Heart could be made, or Diancie can be born, either works. Diancie is said to have been born from a Carbink that had undergone a mysterious mutation, the mutation could be related to the main story somehow.
In fact, I thought about a villain that wants to make everyone immortal, thinking it will create a Utopia, their plan will fail but create consequences in the region. Since Xerneas/Yveltal wake up every thousand years, I imagined the story would take place one thousand years before the events of X and Y, and the region would be medieval themed.
For Unova, it has no mythical with reality bending abilities and I sadly can't imagine anything except a Legends Kyurem, how is Victini, Meloetta or Keldeo going to hold an entire game like Arceus did? Genesect wasn't even created until recent events in the Pokemon world.
Because each mythical of Unova has a piece of history, it's hard to choose just one, they complete each other in a way
Some people speculutate on Johto remakes because of the many hints towards johto relevancy, and I think the Mythical main pokemon theory fits for Johto! Legends Celebi could work
I hope someone sees this theory and uses it for imagining new pokemon stuff or coming up with a Unova Legends game since I couldn't. I think a medieval, victorian, or early to middle 20th century Unova game would be really good, specially because if it were to be medieval, it could make kinda what Arceus made with Team Galactic and make Team Plasma into real knights, the Unova region has lots of medieval stuff and I think it's even better than Kalos for a medieval game
Monster AU - Hybridisation Fundamentals
This might be a relatively short one. There are few hybrids confirmed to speak of.
Generally, most hybrids would be what you'd expect—offspring of a monster (a.k.a. cryptian) and a human. Hybrids of this sort are typically referred to as 'half-(X)', with the human half being implied, since humans are more-or-less the dominant (or at least most prevalent) species in most places. Hybrid is the general term referring to any kind, but as a whole, hybrids are also sometimes called things like 'middies', 'halfies', 'combos', and, often more derogatorily, 'half-breeds', and 'amalgams'.
When there's a hybrid of more than two creatures, they can be referred to as 'part-(X)'.
In some cases, when only one parent's species is known / identified, I've used the suffix '-ling' to indicate being the offspring of something—e.g., the child of a demon with an unspecified other parent may be a Demonling or Dämonling. In theory, this could also be used for other similar situations, but I've only thus far used it for the aforementioned Dämonling. It's almost a synonym for 'cambion', but dämonling basically just means 'demon-spawn' in general; whereas a 'cambion' is defined as being a hybrid of specifically a demon and a human and no it's not specifically a(n) suc/incubus, it's just any human-demon offspring. This INCLUDES, but is not LIMITED to, individuals who are half concubus. and also can people PLEASE stop treating cambions like it's somehow their fault they were born ? yes even the concubi cambion. sure there are a lot of cases in which the circumstances of their existence are reprehensible but it's literally not their fault. like. they didn't fucking ask to be born??? and theyre not inherently dangerous so stop jumping to conclusions??
Anyway, hybrids between a human and cryptian (sometimes called 'humons', 'halfmen' (gender neutral), or 'the consequences of monsterfuckery') will typically inherit many traits and capabilities of their inhuman parent (in essence, human characteristics are much more likely to be 'recessive'). However, any powers they may attain are generally only about half as powerful, with their weaknesses also often being about halfway diminished. The way hybridisation manifests can vary on a case-by-case basis, but you are likely to find human-monster hybrids being more humanoid than their cryptian parent but still with many of the inhuman traits. Hybrids between two cryptians are much more varied, generally pretty rare between less humanoid monsters and can't be generalised; for the most part, though, they conceptually fall somewhere along the same lines as human-cryptian hybrids.
Genetics isn't my area of expertise, so explaining the relationship between human genes and monster genes in terms of dominance/recessiveness is pretty hard. Plus, it's foolish to generalise genetics through all cryptianity!
Hybrids also typically have a combined feel to their aura, integrating the metaphysical texture of both parents' auras. A cryptian's aura is usually significantly more potent than a human's, and a hybrid is usually somewhere in the middle. Being a Stand User will also affect one's aura.
There are, however, some hybrids that are irregular. or Giorno Giovanna.
The main irregularity is overruling or dual species, which cannot technically be just 'part' or 'half'. In particular, there aren't really any 'half-werewolves' or 'half-lycans' and so forth.
While lycanthropy (and other forms of zooanthropy) can be genetically inherited and lycanthropes can have children with non-humans as well as humans, lycanthropy is very complicated. A traditional lycanthrope (werewolf) is a human who turns into a wolf under the full moon, but that means that they are, technically, still a human (most of the time). In this sense, lycanthropy is moreso akin to a genetic mutation like albinism.
What I mean to say is, whilst 'lycanthrope' is technically its own classification of species (I need to establish the difference between different kinds, lest people keep calling them all werewolves—they're not all werewolves and werewolf logic does not apply to all lycanthropes), to be defined as a lycanthrope, the individual in question must be something else that transforms into a lycanthropic/lupomorphic form. All lycanthropes are also something else (same goes for other zooanthropes for their respective animals).
Lycanthropy is not exclusive to humans, though human lycanthropes are the most commonly known. The child of two human lycanthropes will also be human - and, bizarrely (though rarely, perhaps), might not inherit the lycanthropy, resulting in a normal human child. (I keep thinking about one dominant allele and one recessive allele but it just doesn't track).
Meanwhile, the child of a human (or any other) lycanthrope and an inhuman (whether another lycanthrope or not) will follow the same rules as a typical hybrid of their sort, and their species would be classified accordingly, but if they inherit the lycanthropy, they will be a lycanthrope as well no matter what. They will either be called a lycanthrope, or their other species can be used as a modifier before it, resulting in classifications such as 'demonic lycanthrope' or 'half-vampiric lycanthrope' (yes, contrary to some beliefs, it's not impossible for vampires to also be werewolves. The world just isn't ready for that talk I guess. There are so many kinds of sanguisuges and lycanthropes they are not all incompatible with each other).
And then there's Giorno. Giorno Giovanna. Infamously a triple hybrid (at least!) (come to think of it, it might not be the best idea to reveal his whole name) whose aura is - as a result - 'a terror' and 'atrocious'. Giorno is presumably part-human (with an infusion of ethereal Entity), but he's also unquestionably part sanguisuge (vampire) and, apparently, somehow... part... Gentry? I want to refer to this hybridisation, despite the human part, as a Faepyre, because it sounds cool however there is a chance i may get got for doing so. His aura is very intense and imposing due to the chaos. Being a hybrid of a vampire (you'd have to assume Sanguinarius saxeus, based on his parentage, but a lot of his traits seem 'traditional', whatever he is) and Gentry, he's quite incredibly powerful, but not as powerful as a being wholly of either kind would be. However, as aforementioned, he's blessed (figuratively, FIGURATIVELY) thusly with heavily diminished weaknesses, which is very lucky because a lot of traditional non-Italian-born vampire weaknesses seem to be just, like, being in Italy.
Being part-vampire comes with the desperate craving to drink blood but typically the lack of necessity to do so. He doesn't appear in silver-backed mirrors. Being part-Gentry comes with potential nearly beyond human comprehension, magic of influence, and Glamour... as well as a slight iron allergy... He has also claimed he is unable to be baptised due to 'medical reasons' and gets very offended if anyone asks him to clarify.
There are also 'pseudo-hybrids' as well, beings whose species are themselves a 'hybrid'. These are called 'chimera' or 'chimeric species'. For one example: Sphinxes (Tiziano Vecellio (will i get my ass kicked for putting his actual name here?) is a Sphinx & the only one I happen to have 'encountered' thus far).
Sphinxes are, mythologically, hybrid creatures with the bodies of lions, wings of raptors (most often eagles) and heads of humans, meaning the species as a whole is 'hybrid', but the individuals are not necessarily hybrid. Actually, when it comes to chimeras, there generally are no partial-chimeras. Especially when it comes to chimera with a human component. You don't really get 'half' of something when that something is already 'half'. In particular, the offspring of a human and a sphinx would be considered a full sphinx. There's a bit of a grey area on satyrs or fauns, and minotaurs have a complicated hybridisation, but if we're talking centaurs or some shit, you can't really go halfway with that. I guess it's sort of because the shape defines the species, or something like that.
(Also worth noting is that the term Sphinx may be more suited to indicate a family or genus than an actual species (this also applies to some other species, but taxonomy is a story for a different time); there are different (though not many) kinds of Sphinx species or subspecies with differing traits; without getting too far off track, Sphinxes as a collective over time seemed to trend towards being bipedal and more humanoid (hence Tiziano being more humanoid than leonine)).
Aquatic hybrids are actually surprisingly common, probably because it's remarkably easy for half-maricrypts to not know that they aren't fully human. Many seafolk hybrids are amphibicrypts—they have a land form and an aquatic / swim form. As they are typically born outside of the water (and unions between humans and seafolk are famously not very happy), they may live their entire lives in their land form. Unless fully submerged in water, there's generally nothing that would blatantly bring them to realise that they're amphibious, especially if their supernatural parentage is hidden from them (selkies and merrow have been known to fall victim to these behaviours as they are relatively easy to 'trap' on land). They often feel a pull towards the sea or the ocean, but in a lot of cases, they don't transform noticeably simply from being exposed to water; in these cases, it's often being submerged fully to where breathing oxygen is not an option—the body instinctively breathes through the gills (all fish-based seafolk have them!) and that generally pushes the body to transform. But how often does that happen? Fairly infrequently. Because it's easy for them to not know they're amphibicrypts, and, thus, they live their entire lives terrestrially, they're also more likely to have offspring with humans and pass the trait on to their offspring, so a lot of people could have genetically buried, watered-down (hah!) seafolk genes and not even know.
Digital World X Lore #1
How Digivolution Function with Reploids:
When it comes to reploids, being robots and not humans means that they don’t usually have a digivice as they themselves are the Device themselves. Meaning that reploids act both Tamer and digivice at the same time leading to…interesting developments how Digivolution works as they are actually different varieties two of evolution. While it requires a level of bonding between the reploid and the digimon, another is…less than pleasant to perform.
Standard Evolution: Normal Digivolution that we all know and love, it requires a level of friendship between reploid and digimon. Their energy is used to speed up a digimon’s digivolution, the higher the level the more stamina and energy that it consumes. So most of the time it has a time limit of how long the digimon stays in that form. Normally like humans, if the Digimon have a strong bond with their reploid partner the time limit extends and it consumes less stamina than the reploid provides. It can possibly create an energy feedback between reploid and digimon if their friendship is strong enough. The limit reploids Digivolve their partners is the Ultimate level, but there are cases where the reploid can Digivolve their partner to Mega or potentially Ultra level. But leaves to be determined as records show that a few reploids and their Digimon can achieve such a high level without consequences.
Symbiosis Evolution: A uniquely powerful evolution that is essentially a pure fusion between the DNA Soul and Digicore coexisting together as a new being. This is where the bond between reploid and digimon has transcended into new heights, of their souls working and existing together with no harm with each other. Despite being a new being it will inherit aspects of the reploid’s armor integrated into the form it self. But if this form is pushed to the absolute limit, there is a chance that both souls can either be damaged beyond repair. It’s an extremely rare and powerful process to perform, to trigger it this transformation must happen if the digimon and reploid have an extremely powerful bond. Only a very few and select individuals can perform this evolution without difficulty. Essentially Symbiosis is a combination of DNA evolution and Biomerge evolution, due the DNA soul and Digicores being incredibly similar and yet different.
Side note
The constant use of symbiosis evolution, can cause unexpected Mutations on the reploid’s DNA Soul to somehow obtain traits and abilities of their digimon companion and vice versa. It is unknown what this phenomenon can affect their health. But it seems that both parties are not negatively affected by their mutations. But is advised that the use of symbiosis evolution must be treated with caution.
Amalgamation Evolution: A uniquely horrifying transformation of a forced fusion between the reploid and digimon. A parasitic version of Symbiosis Evolution. Where both cores are in a constant battle of control and the body tearing itself apart into a chimera like form. It’s destructive and unpredictable, it’s commonly formed when a digimon is desperate to consume data from reploids to become stronger or a reploid forcefully fuses with a Digimon to obtain more power. It can often lead them into a state of endless agony, having one goal in mind: destroy, consume and survive. Or in a more rarer case the Digimon forcefully assimilates the reploid’s DNA Soul into their data to be their new armor, weapon or a new Digivolution. If it’s the other way around the reploid gains a new transformation that makes them even more destructive than ever.
There is a possibility to save the digimon or reploid, but the separation would also lead to irreversible mutations or worse if their souls are not extracted safely. It is strongly advised to approach these types of beings with utmost caution.
The Darkest Times Ain't Always at Night
Originally posted on the Fictionkind Dreamwidth on April 8, 2024
Some of the prompts on this DW I feel like I could answer with a single word. “Does your fictomere have hair?” Nope! But then, other prompts basically make me tell my entire life story.
Has your fictomere ever gotten seriously ill? What happened? - Prompt #97 [Sickness]
Absolutely, and it changed literally everything.
In my earliest memories I lived alone on a mountain range. Dracomon can’t really fly per-say, but we can glide well enough. So I’d spend my days dozing and digging around for gems and metals to eat. The best ones were kept up at high altitudes too, so my expeditions could take a while. If I were to eat enough, I knew I would be able to digivolve and that’s what I was really after – becoming a coredramon and gaining actual flight.
In a valley at the base of the mountain there was also a small village of digimon. Between trips, or when I needed supplies, I’d stop by. Overtime, I got to know the villagers and we became friends. Though, they couldn’t understand why I chose to live alone. “I like my privacy” or “I value my independence.” I’d say, but they did have a point that living in a community would be easier. If I got attacked or fell ill I’d be alone so far from help. I could be in real danger and more than once I was tempted to move.
None of us could have known what would happen next.
The digiworld is ruled by a supercomputer called King Drasil. As the digiworld got more and more populated, it was putting more and more strain on them. Till finally they decided to purge all but 1% of the world’s population and move their chosen few to a new server (before deleting the current one). To this end, they created the x-program. A high-infectious, fatal virus with no cure.
Most of the time.
As they and I would come to discover, sometimes death doesn’t stick. In a few rare cases, a digimon with a strong enough will to survive could overcome the virus by mutating their digicores-essentially their souls. This process would also bring out any latent data being stored in there, altering their appearance and increasing their strength.
Can you see the unfolding disaster brewing? But, hold on, it gets worse.
There’s another way to get x-antibodies for yourself besides hoping you can change the coding on your soul. You can steal them. By integrating another digimon’s core with your own, you can temporarily stave off the effects of the virus. There is no possible way to do this without killing the other digimon. On top of all this, King Drasil ordered his royal knights to hunt down any x-digimon - glitches in the system of their master plan. Royal knights are mega-level digimon of unimaginable power – too strong for any normal digimon to tackle one-on-one, nevermind the whole crew!
Even alone in the mountains I had caught the virus and alone I overcame the infection. My noema of this time is blurry, but I remember writhing in pain in some desolate cave as my pixels were devoured one-by-one. And then, at what felt like the last moment, it stopped. I held onto my last pixel, REFUSED to give it up and the impossible happened. I changed fate.
But there wasn’t much joy in surviving. Between the x-program, the royal knights and digimon slaughtering each other for x-antibodies, my world was in ruins. I’m convinced I only survived at all because I was alone in the mountains, otherwise I would have been easy prey.
Somehow, I was able to find a small, almost in-perceivable tear in our world that led to the human world and so I fled and left everything behind.
I’d come to find later things you thought you left behind have a way of creeping back into your life.
- Hortense
INTRODUCING: FINS
Tumblr media
⸻ ( king shark/jacob batalon, 25, cis man, he/him ) — Look who it is! If you take a look at our database, you’ll find that IN-27493 / FINS is a WASTE DISPOSAL WORKER / UNDERGROUND FIGHTER that works in SECTOR 8. According to the file, they’re a mutant with the power of SHARK PHYSIOLOGY & ABSOLUTE DIGESTION. That must be why they’re HARD-WORKING and ALOOF. If you ask me, they remind me of long nights spent watching the sky, the scratch of sandpaper, and deep-set resentment. They are affiliated with NOBODY.
basic information:
character name: IN-27493
alias (es): fins
face claim: king shark ( alex hernandez )
mutation status: gen ii mutant ( shark physiology )
distinguishing mutations: walking shark.
birthday: march 14th
sexuality: bisexual
moral alignment: neutral good
occupation: waste disposal worker
work sector: sector 8
affiliation: neutral
3 positive traits: hardworking, reserved, polite
3 negative traits: resentful, aloof, insecure
character summary:
born in prison to an inmate, he has stayed in prison because of loophole laws and learned helplessness. mistrustful of the outside world and people in general, he has to learn to integrate himself to a world that's been primed to see him as a threat.
questionnaire:
how do they feel about living in sol city? have they always lived there or did they travel from another settlement?
living here all his life, it's hard to imagine living anywhere else, but he thinks about it all the time. what would have been different if he had been born in another place? or better yet, another time?
do they trust the council's leadership? why or why not?
he does to a certain extent, because that's what he's been told to do. i don't think real trust comes easily to him.
if they chose their sector and profession, why did they make that choice? if they didn't, why not? were they happy with their assignment or not?
he did not choose his sector, but is satisfied with what was chosen for him. mostly because again, that's what he's been told to do.
what's one object that they always keep on their person?
a notebook. :)
what is your character's ability (or abilities)?
shark physiology.
are they gen i or gen ii?
gen ii.
what can your character do? what are their strengths?
breath underwater, swim at high speeds, adapt to low-light environments, bite through almost any material, and possess a strength beyond both human and shark capacities.
what can't they do? what are their weaknesses?
hide what he is! he is permanently stuck partway between man and shark. while he is highly resistant to some forms of disease, anything that could cause fatal damage would kill him. he also doesn't do well in extreme heat or dryness and suffers fatigue and shortness of breath because of it.
is there anything else you'd like to specify about them?
he has a lot of love in his heart he is just afraid of showing it. </3
possible connections:
other prisoners: past, present, or... i don't know, future? since he lives there and tends to stand out, they would probably know each other somehow... maybe they could be(/come) friends.
bad influences: he is babey (sheltered as hell) someone could easily take advantage of that. doesn't have to be on purpose but ideally it would be!
competitors: he fights in an underground mutant fighting ring for bonuses ( through the guards and such ) in prison. i think would be fun to build the lore for that!
Consider: Genetics in sci fi
The way I see it there’s generally two routes you go down when it comes to including genetic modification in a setting, yay or nay.
If no then you don’t need to sweat anything
If yes you have to consider where this is applied, if (at all) it’s regulated in any way by a government of some kind, and what it’s limits are.
Generally when we think of genetic modification we think of special lab babies or radiation induced mutations or a mix of the two having a perfectly healthy adult creature suddenly have their genetics tampered with for near instant and shocking results
an interesting way i’ve thought about using things like genetic modification and other bio-enhancements, is not dissimilar to wiring.
Electricians go to school to learn what they do, their job is to make sure every electrical system is routed to code, safely, and effectively.
Geneticists can be described in a similar way, a geneticist may go to school or learn under a teacher the proper functions, dependencies, and compatibilities of various genetic modifications, and they understand that a genetic code requires an efficient and well thought out system, much like a wiring grid.
Say for example a human rights activist fighting in an oppressive and dangerous area requires tougher skin on their back specifically in order to better sustain the lashes of whips.
An inexperienced geneticist would simply splice them with dna from a creature with a strong exoskeleton, like a beetle. However even if these genetics are somehow constructed as compatible enough for the body to integrate them, the end result would most definitely be determined by chance and the subject would most likely come out of it with a much more disturbing visage than before.
An experienced geneticist would first take into account the interpretations of such a request, and would consult the subjects desires with regards to appearance. Instead of taking the direct approach and attempting to simply add an extra layer ontop of the subjects genetics, the experienced geneticist would study the capabilities of the subjects existing genetic processes.
The experienced geneticist would most likely opt for enhancements to existing bodily processes, like calluses. They would target the dna which controls callus growth and boost it, whilst also balancing the change with alterations to the subjects absorption of vitamins and minerals.
In the end instead of the geneticist rolling the dice and hoping they spliced just the right genes to promote growth of an exoskeleton, they’ve bolstered existing processes to achieve the same goal, whilst also accounting for the effect that may have had on the body and with consideration to the subjects needs.
So genetics is like wiring in the same way raising animals is like gardening. They both require you work with a system that has certain needs that can be met with consideration and balance, though one may work with a creature that has its own autonomy, at its core they’re near identical practices.
It would be the ultimate insult to Voldemort, dying by the hands of muggle means. And to add injury to insult, not only has his greatest obstacle somehow joined his family line, it's due to the daughter he couldn't care less for. He would be rolling in his grave with fury if he was given one XD
I love me some good Fenton parents too, so Danny would've had a good reveal if I ever continue this. It would be believable too since magical creatures are common knowledge to witches and wizards.
Now, with Maddie being a witch, how does that affect Jazz and Danny? Are they aware of the magical nature of their mother, and maybe even inherited it? Was magic the reason Danny didn't fully die in the portal accident??
From what I searched up, American witches and wizards are separated from no-majs, yet also deeply integrated in their society. There's even an old law that makes it illegal to form friendships or intermarry with no-majs, but with time probably is only upheld socially instead of legally (something Maddie took full advantage of if Jack was a no-maj).
So imagine an Amity Park that has a high population of magical beings, with some of its no-maj citizens perhaps knowing something is off about certain families but their sense of small town community pride making them turn a blind eye. Shops and businesses and even schools have small sections only accessible to the magical.
With the activation of the portal, things get a bit mixed up. No-maj's are suddenly developing unique abilities that mirror certain branches of magic, while also seemingly shifting into another species?? It's not just the no-maj's either. Magical beings of all species in Amity are seeing changes in themselves. Has there been an outbreak of a mutated strand of lycanthropy???
That brings up the question, what IS ectoplasm in this world?
I'd liken it to the binding force of the universe, the in-between of atoms. It can accumulate and store and release energy when certain conditions are met. And most importantly, it is an amplifier. Ectoplasm can amplify even the smallest of traits, like activating a dormant gene and boost its effects. (All living beings and plants naturally absorb ambient magic but it lies dormant since the amount absorbed is not large enough to be consciously used, this is how muggleborns are created)
So now, the town has to deal with their transforming bodies on top of near-daily ghost fights. Just great.
I just know the Fenton's would be raring to study the citizen's transformations. Before, they only had the ectoplasm itself to study and experiment on, too cautious to truly experiment on living humans due to ectoplasm's volatile nature. Now though? It would be a waste not to! They could get some great papers out of this, right Hon?
No one would let the "local loonies" study them of course, especially not with their questionable ethics and unstable-looking inventions.
Fast-forward to after Voldemort's oh so unfortunate demise, and Maddie suddenly has a child asking her to be his mom? Why of course child who shes pretty sure had his life ruined by her sperm donor, why don't you come right in and have her husband's legendary fudge while she forges some papers, hm?
Obviously, she doesn't make it too far into those adoption papers before someone comes looking for Harry after he ran off to who-knows-where. There are some disputes, mainly over her being the daughter of Voldemort and Harry's connection to his friends and Hogwarts. But the custody battle over Harry is tough but hard won. The Fenton's were granted shared custody with (adult of your choice), where immediately after they quickly grab his belongings and return home to introduce him to his new siblings.
Danny and Jazz are taken aback at first, because who would expect after a week-long vacation your parents would suddenly come back with a new child??
They're quick to warm up to him though, even it's a bit of an adjustment at first. Their parents are weird, they've learned to roll with the punches. It helped that Harry himself was making an effort to reach out to them.
Meanwhile, Harry? Having the time of his life. The crazy old bastard who killed his parents and tried to kill him numerous times now is dead, he doesn't have to live at his Aunt's anymore, and he has new siblings and parents?? He's never been better!! Plus, no one knows him as Harry Potter, Boy Who Lived! There are no expectations or pressure from the town's citizens! He's just the Fenton's new kid!!
Sure, he has to deal with ghosts attacking the town every other day, but it wasn't any different from Hogwarts AND it's not Harry's problem to take care of! He loved it here!!!!
HPXDP prompt #7
Hear me out!
There's many (a lot) of pjoxhp fics about Percy Jackson, which is Voldemort's grandson.
But what about Danny being the grandson of Voldemort?
How? Well...
Everyone knows that Jack's obsession with ghosts comes from family tradition, but what about Maddie's?
Maddie's interest with ghosts comes from her want to END her sperm donor.
She's the lost daughter of the Dark Lord that runned away from England in search of a weapon that could kill immortals.
How did F!Leo get Leo Junior in your AU?
Ahha! you have given me the perfect excuse to share this snippet of the fic I'm working on for this
So Leo wasn’t dead, despite his best efforts. Plus despite his resolve to not think about it™ he was indeed fulfilling his promise to DDT. That happens when you’re looking down at the newly mutated rat version of your Dad and four little turtles in the cardboard box next to him Leo tries not to not linger on.
Dad at this point is skinny and lanky; he really doesn't look all that different from Lou Jitsu. Leo wonders if he had kept better care of himself would he have had such a hard time adjusting. Probably, in the later days of Dad’s life he had lost a lot of his fat from the virtue of rations and regular fighting for your life-style exercise. Even then Leo didn’t think his Dad ever fully accepted his rat form.
But he looks so young here. Passed out in their old lair, the first one they had before shredder. It looks like he collapsed in a heap of exhaustion the second he found somewhere dry. Rain and bits of sewage muck still clinging to him. He was already so tired, how? It couldn’t have been more than a week since they were first mutated.
That's another thing when he told Mikey to make a time gateway he didn’t expect his brother to be so extra about it. He really just meant to send Casey back to the day of, if not a few days before so he could get his barings first. The two had discussed it. Leo knew it would take everything he had that Mikey wouldn't be able to hold out long before getting destroyed. Especially in a heat of the moment spell. Which is why Leo knew sending Casey back here was impossible. That and he had already spent days scouring the city for a sign of him.
No, his presence here probably had more to do with the intricate fading orange design lacing up his arms. It had that sort of cracking appearance that Mikey did while making the time gateway. This however was more controlled and purposeful, with letters he couldn't understand woven between the lines. This spoke of a longstanding spell, something that Mikey had made in the event of either of their deaths. It had glowed bright the way their mystic powers did when he first arrived and had steadily been growing duller. Leo hoped they remained, he never got the chance to grab Mikey’s mask, a memento of his last brother.
There was also the chance that the marks fading meant his time here was up. But Leo somehow doubted it. There was nothing really going on around this time. The foot clan hadn't even begun thinking about collecting pieces of mystic armor. Leo had already looked for hide or hair of the key and came up with nada. Their mutation had already happened so that meant Draxum’s lair was destroyed and he wouldn’t be causing problems for anyone anytime soon.
That was the crux of the issue wasn’t it. The four baby turtles. He hovered over the little box. One side was soaked already peeling off at the corner. He knew everyone would be tumbling out the second they were awake enough to test the integrity of their playpen. They were all so small he could fit them all in one hand easily. Mikey was obviously the smallest of them all adorably round and clinging to Donnie’s leg even with the soft shell trying to kick him off in his sleep. It was almost funny if the sight of his twin at any stage of his life didn’t have Leo tearing up. He moved quickly onto the biggest of the lot and had to cover his mouth choking back a sob.
Their exact ages had gotten fuzzy with time. But Leo was pretty sure this little Raph was closer in age to his Raph than Leo was.
He wanted to scoop them up and hug all his brothers again. But he was pretty sure their shells were weak at this age and Leo wasn’t sure he could hold back squeezing them as tightly as he could. Besides, he didn't deserve it.
Raph and Donnie you could call those accidents markers of Leo’s incompetence. Not Mikey, he had looked his baby brother in the eye. The same baby brother that was making a mix between chirping and babbling noises in his sleep. Had looked him in the eye and asked him- told him to die. Had premeditated and planned his little brother's death. Leo wished he had died first, not just before Mikey but before all of them. He should've, they would probably been better off for it.
… Speaking of.
The last turtle he had been avoiding looking at. Simply because it was about to become relevant and Leo couldn’t be one hundred percent sure that this whole thing hadn’t been orchestrated by DDT as petty revenge for Leo dismissing him before. Actually right now that was his top working theory.
Leo had never seen any baby pictures of himself. Dad didn’t have a camera back then. He had no idea his markings used to be lighter, getting more pigmented with age. The light green stripes were practically cat scratches. He was sleeping restlessly trying to roll over in his sleep to find the other tots. Leo put his hand in between him and Raph just before little him could make contact. Their hands touched showing just the sheer size difference between then and now.
“It’s pathetic to be mad at a literal child,”
DDT wasn’t wrong, it did feel ridiculous to have beef with a baby. He picked the tot up, who gave a displeased squeaking sound in his sleep but didn’t wake up. It did make the others stir the sound disrupting their sleep. Surely that was a metaphor for something. Leo’s loud mouth always causing his brother's problems. Raph’s eyes cracked open looking up and zeroing in on Leo. He was pinned under the gaze with wide clear eyes that have never seen the horrors of this world.
Even at fifteen his brother's gaze had never been that unburdened. Since shredder and their first loss in the family Karai Leo had never seen them without a certain tragedy coloring his brothers outlook on life. The soon to follow apocalypse and the countless deaths that followed merely cemented that in his brothers look which Leo had forgotten what he looked like before.
He couldn’t let that future befall his brothers. Any of it. He wanted to keep them safe and sheltered and beg Dad never to let them out of the sewer.
Oh how they would hate that.
He couldn't protect them from everything. There would always be low level threats and a curiosity that leads to them. All he could do was his best to get rid of some of the bigger ones and make sure the Krang never happened. It also meant he couldn't stay here. He would always be a little piece of the apocalypse a forgotten timeline. It would cast a shadow over his brothers and ruin their childhoods. That was fine he could work from the shadows behind the scenes thats where he did his best work. He just had to guarantee the Krange never happened.
There was one way to do that. He looked at the baby in his hand. Sometimes you need only remove one bad seed.
Raph had stared long enough to realize Leo wasn’t releasing his brother. He made grabby hands and little babbling sounds that were precious in every way. Leo smiled sadly. Moved into the shadows. Raph cried out. He didn’t look back.
