He could also be sitting in his shit hole apartament when loud thud is heard right outside the door. Too loud to ignore so he sigh and he goes to check it out and there he sees them. The reader in all their glory displayed on few stairs with carton boxes all over and some things fallen out. And they hold their head cause a freaking something box was open so they hit their head and slipped and yeah I don’t know. I stay delusional.

omfg my brain worms are going crazy. he barely cracks the door open, just peering in the dark out at the commotion. he doesn't bother to say anything, but reader doesn't realize how thin the walls are because simon doesn't ever make any noise. so they're playing music too loud, and he's kept up at night hearing the occasional banging of a headboard against the shared wall. complaint insues and simon leaves for the first time in weeks to bark at you to "quit shaggin' so loud." in this instance he's a total grouchy asshole.

orrr adding onto your idea. reader hits their head and falls backwards and simon, who's watching from the doorway, hesitates as he debates whether or not he should help. torn between "it's none of my business" and a somewhat cute aggression of "this cute weak stupid little thing needs my help." in this instance he's very quiet and standoffish, seeming to only help you out of some inner obligation or annoyance at the ruckus.

perhaps i'm just projecting because this recently happened to me but maybe simon's painfully indifferent about reader until he one night has dream about them. like his brain has conjured up some deep scary subconscious desire for companionship and has filled in the gap with someone that looks like you. and when he slips out the next day, feeling less paranoid than the weeks prior, his stomach drops when he spots you climbing up the stairs.
