Jazz was minding her own buisness when Joker led Batman down the street she was walking down. The group of Gothamites around her started to scatter immediately, but there was chaos and confusion about which way to go. Joker used this chaos to his advantage and pulled out a grenade.
“You can catch me, or you can save them. Make your choice, Batsy!” Joker cackled as he pulled the pin on the grenade and threw it into the crowd of civilians.
Batman lunged for the grenade, but Jazz was closer. She didn’t know what motivated her to grab the grenade in her hands, but she scooped it up and clamped her fingers around it just as it exploded.
“No!” Batman grunted.
Luckily for Jazz and the crowd, the explosion was contained in her hands and nobody was harmed. Unluckily for Jazz, both Joker and Batman were now staring at her.
“I can explain.” She said lamely, but the silence stretched on several seconds. She had no explanation. Deciding to pull a Danny, she put the shrapnel into Batman’s hand and ran.

Do you know If other characters other than vil, silver, Leona and epel have ever been called attractive in Canon? Ive been curious about what their appearances are like in the story, but I only remember the beauty of those 4 being commented
Tumblr media
NOTE: when the characters change into event outfits, there's usually a dedicated section in which other characters praise how they look in said new outfit. I will not be considering these instances, as every character gets them to try and "sell" the new cards to the player base.
The characters whose physical appearances are considered notable in-universe are:
Riddle (called cute; was mistaken for a girl)
Leona (he is described as handsome in a "wild" or "rugged" way; even Vil admits that Leona is handsome, despite finding his personality unappealing)
Vil (celebrity known far and wide for his beauty)
Neige (fellow celebrity; gives more of a "feel good" vibe)
Epel (similar kind of "cute" and "innocent" vibes as Neige; was mistaken for a girl)
Idia (the Ghost Bride proclaims that he is handsome; in his Suitor Suit vignettes, Idia is praised for his physical features)
Silver (his good looks are brought up by Vil, Idia, etc.)
Lilia (self-proclaimed, but townspeople call him cute on his travels as well; his friends like Cater also call him cute.)
Malleus (he is often lauded for his noble visage and handsomeness, but these comments largely come from Sebek, who is very biased, or Lilia, who is also biased; however, other characters like Idia also remark on his looks, such as saying that his face is “mega-striking”. Leona is also described by Idia to have a face that is "mega-striking".)
Jamil is called "handsome" by Azul in book 4, but in most other cases Jamil is described as "plain". The "handsome" comment was most likely there as a reference to the original Aladdin film, in which Jasmine flatters Jafar with the same comment.
Grim and Vargas are characters that frequently brag about how cool and handsome they are. However, few other characters actually affirm these points.
In Terror is Trending, Magicam Monsters call Sebek "cool and dignified". However, due to the context, this most likely refers more to his fierce attitude and posture, not his appearance.
Additionally, according to the Magical Archives book (ie not in-universe comments, but comments made by the devs):
Riddle is "bishounen"
Deuce is "beautiful and cool"
Epel is also described to be "bishounen" but more specifically "from a 70s shoujo manga"
Idia "has an attractive face, but doesn't realize it"
Sebek and Azul have "similar refined facial features"

AU where Danny never tells Sam and Tucker about the portal accident but they eventually put together the pieces after Danny starts acting hella weird. Especially around his parents.
They eventually figure it out but can't seem to decide whether their friend is actually dead or if there's something else going on. They inadvertently become ghost experts while playing detective, while also simultaneously trying their best to help Danny from the shadows without him finding out that they found out.
Bonus points if they have to fend off Jazz with a stick cause she knows something's up and she knows that Sam and Tucker know but Sam and Tucker keep covering their tracks and doing their best to throw her off the scent.
Bonus, bonus points if Jazz knows that there's something very messed up going on and desperately wants to know what happened to her brother but Sam and Tucker think she's on her parent's side and are convinced that she'll just report back to them if she ever finds out.
Bonus, bonus, bonus points! if Jazz just has this deep, gut-wrenching feeling that she can't tell her parents about her suspicions and that there's something increasingly disturbing about both her parents and Danny's behaviour as well as how the three of them interact after the portal got turned on. She does her best to keep her parent's attention off of Danny, which kinda helps but also inadvertently gets in the way of Sam and Tucker's helping.
Bonus, bonus, bonus, bonus points!!!!! if Maddie and Jack have acquired some very mild ecto contamination from being in such close proximity with the portal on a daily basis and their continued exposure is making them slowly exhibit Obsession-like behaviours about their work and research, which consequentially results in their attitudes/behaviours becoming increasingly more disturbing and concerning from an outside perspective.

Prologue: Last Moments.
She's.....
She's hurt...
Danny stares at the Sword of Pariah Dark that went through Jasmine's body.
Oh no...
Danny was breathing heavily, his heart. Beating?... Racing. He ran to her with no hesitance, closing their distance with a desperate hug.
His body trembling as blood dripped down from her to his hands. He felt his tears trail down his cheeks, slowly emerging from his eyes even further making him sob uncontrollably in his silent space. Before finally, she spoke. "Danny, Danny... No... Don't cry..." She says softly as she caresses his cheek trying to console him. "Jazz, I'm sorry .. I'm so sorry... I'm so sorr—" he was cut off. "Shh..." She shushes him softly and kissed his forehead. "It's okay... Danny... Remember... Remember you're my baby brother okay?... It's gonna be okay- even if... Even if I'm not here" her voice was trembling in both fear and... Sadness. Danny couldn't help but keep sobbing in her hand, her chest bleeding out with a sword impaled right through her chest. "I-... I love you .. my little brother... my precious Danny.... remember that .... I love you.." She struggles to breathe and talk as she kept consoling her baby brother. She slowly learns forward and rests her head on his shoulder. "Jazz...?" Danny Muttered. "Big Sis...?" His voice breaks as he hugged her body tight, he can't feel her breathe, he can't feel her heart. The warmth of her body slowly fading... Matching the coldness of his skin. Of his own self. He feels her body matching his own... Pale, Cold, Unmoving. "I'm sorry.... I love you too.." He muttered one as he buried his face on her hair in his tight embrace.
I know I'm evil hehehehe

ngl I got so caught off-guard by Silver's Relaxation Room outfit-
like they just supersized Aurora's face, slapped it onto the sweater and called it a day 😭😭
It doesn't look bad though, the colours are soft and complement each other mostly well. Though now I do wonder what the backstory of it is; correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the first time we see a Disney Princess image explicitly in the game, as opposed to vague references/anecdotes?
is she another revered figure, or a famous film character in the in-game universe? I do hope Silver's vignette will acknowledge his PJ origins 😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was expecting a sweater on Silver for his Relax in Room card, but not that particular design... I find it sorta ugly (colors are fine, but that design is no for me), but in that somewhat endearing way?? Like how people find ugly Christmas sweaters fun. It also very much fits Silver, who doesn't have much fashion sense (though the voice lines confirm it's a gift from Lilia, which also makes sense, given his penchant for cute, novel items.
And nope! This actually isn't the first time we've seen a Disney Princess depicted outside of references and anecdotes. There has previously been furniture items that outright show the princesses and/or heroes, such as the limited time A Firelit Sky statue, "Fireworks Admirers" (although there is no story or history attached with the statue).
Tumblr media
More explicitly, the Platinum Jacket series of vignettes shows multiple Disney princesses and heroes in addition to villains via paintings. Often times, the NRC boys will comment on the artwork and/or talk about a brief story related to it.
The Three Good Fairies appear in Trey's vignettes:
Tumblr media
He notes that it is a depiction of "fairies gifting magic to celebrate the birth of a princess of a certain country." However, we cannot see the princess in question from the shot of this painting.
All of the Diasomnia Platinum Jacket cards do feature Aurora in some way though, and 3 out of the 4 of them very clearly show her face. Lilia sees the same painting as Trey did, lamenting that the fairies blessed the princess with beauty and song instead of the strength to break her own curse.
Tumblr media
Sebek witnesses a painting of Aurora in her peasant dress, before she learned of her birthright as a princess. He describes the artwork as "a human chatting with some animals [...] about her dreams" and says that he saw this scene in a book his grandfather gifted him.
Tumblr media
Malleus sees a painting of Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora dancing at the ball. He recognizes her as "the princess blessed by diurnal fae" but doesn't state more about her history than that. So it seems like the story of Princess Aurora and the Three Good Fairies are recognized to be from the same tale.
Tumblr media
Finally, we have Silver, who sees the same painting as Malleus does. He implies the painting is "well-known" and that it depicts a scene from a storybook that he often read as a child. (So both he and Sebek mention seeing this princess in a book; is it the same book, or different books based on the same material?)
Silver also characterizes Phillip as someone who fought bravely. Because of that, he came to admire the prince and aspired to be like him someday.
Tumblr media
At this point in time, all that we know about Aurora's standing in the Twst world (not counting anecdotes; these are strictly tied only with visual depictions of her) is:
She is a princess blessed by diurnal fae at her birth
She danced with a brave prince
She speaks with animals about her dreams
Her story is written in books
Aurora must be an important historical figure in some way, as she is depicted multiple times in the Land of Dawning's National Museum of Art alongside the likes of the Great Seven and their henchmen. It's not too strange that she has storybooks about her; we know thanks to Tapis Rouge that it seems normal for people to make creations based on Twisted Wonderland's historical figures. For example, the Fairest Queen has had an animated film and now a live action made in her name and the Card Soldiers were similarly in a children’s book from the Queendom.
In case you were wondering, Silver's Relax in Room vignettes do not talk about the princess or the character depicted on his sweater. It's just the usual bedtime + morning routines and responding to the school survey that have been depicted in all previous Relax in Rooms.

Case File: Jason’s Reading
Tumblr media
She's sitting by the window, the faint light from it illuminating her red hair like halo. Jason watches her for a few moments longer — knitted sweater, tiny pearl earrings, a pen stuck in her bun like a hair pin. She looks softly pretty, charming in a subtle, unintended way.
A polar opposite from how Jason's seen her last time, in a tight dress, with her hair loose and her eyeliner smudged from laughing too much. And, also, blissfully tipsy as she professionally threw a guy over her shoulder and stole Jason’s heart on the spot. She didn't even sway — he'd thought performing judo on five inch heels would be more difficult than she made it look.
He steps towards the table she's sitting at and takes the chair opposite of her. She glances up from her book, giving him an absentminded nod of greeting — this is a Gotham U library, so the students try to be nice with each other. Who knows which one of them ends up as the new Rogue.
A moment later, the girl does a double-take.
Jason smiles. The redhead looks at him, longer this time, her eyes narrowing like she's debating if he is worth her time or if she wants to throw another guy over her shoulder. Then, she puts her book down, placing some kind of bookmark — a card with a flower drawing — in it. Seems like he's passed the quality check for now.
"Can I help you?" She raises her eyebrows politely.
"I was wondering if you like coffee," Jason decides to skip the awkward greetings and just get it over with. "Or tea, if that's your thing," he glances down to her bookmark. It kind of looks like something from an herbal tea package, even has berries on it.
"That's belladonna," the girl deadpans, picking the piece of paper up, "other known as deadly nightshade, a poisonous plant. If you're planning on adding it to your tea blend, then I'd have to say no."
"Oh, um," Jason fumbles, grimacing in embarrassment. He knows what belladonna is, thank you, he just didn't recognize it in a drawing, at first glance, upside down.
"Also, it's a tarot card," the redhead keeps going. If her goal was to make Jason feel five shades of shame in less than one minute, she succeeded flawlessly.
"You do tarot readings?" He asks, for the lack of anything better to say. The girl raises only one eyebrow this time, a faintly amused smile on her lips. Oh, now she's just having fun watching him struggle, isn't she? Jason takes in a breath and clasps his hands together on the table, leaning forward and looking her in the eyes. "Okay, listen. I didn't mean to assume, and I wasn't actually looking for you- Okay, alright, I was," he corrects himself when the redhead huffs, "but not in a stalker way, I just thought it'd be nice if I met you again. And I came here looking for Piperski's 'Language Construction', not for you. But then I saw you here and thought it was a nice coincidence, so if you'd like to have coffee with me, that's great, and if you don't, you can tell me to fuck off and I'll leave you to your reading."
The girl stays quiet for so long that Jason is considering retreat, her thoughtful gaze — she has oddly colored eyes, now that he sees them in natural light, blueish-green and kind of faded — locked on him. Then, she looks down to her book and hums.
"I don't really do tarot, the deck was a gift from a friend. But, since I have it on hand, how about this," she smiles, a tinge of mischief in her eyes, "I'll do a reading on you, and if the cards are good, we'll go out for coffee."
In Jason’s opinion, tarot is no different from flipping a coin: you let your fate be decided by sheer luck and an inanimate object. But, well, why not?
"Sure," he shrugs, and then, as the girl reaches down to her bag on the floor, adds, "Would you mind giving me your name, though, or is that also up to cards?"
"Jazz," she introduces with a quiet laugh, moving her book to the side with one hand and holding a stack of cards in the other. "And you are? I don't think I ever caught it back at the club."
"I believe we've had other priorities at the time," Jason chuckles. That's not an inaccurate description — they were too busy making out on the dance floor to ask each other's names. Jazz's cheeks turn adorably pink as she shuffles the deck without looking at him. "Peter," he offers, not because he doesn't trust her but because it's the name on his current ID, and explaining why it doesn't match would be a pain if Jazz ever sees his library pass or driver's license.
Yet, the girl pauses in her shuffling and gives him another glance over. "Sure," she agrees in a way that practically screams 'I know you're lying, but I'll play along for now'. Jason debates if he should ask, but, first, it's not like he can do that without admitting he's given her a fake name, and second, Jazz doesn't give him a chance to, already placing three cards on the table between them.
Tumblr media
Leaves, pine cones, and flowers with knives.
"Aren't tarot cards supposed to have people on them? Or coins and cups and stuff?" Jason asks, slightly confused. Jazz merely shrugs at him, her attention focused on the cards on the table.
"Artists come up with all kinds of decks now. I've seen ones with Lovecraftian horrors and ones with pet pictures and toys, it really depends on what's easier for you to understand," she explains, and looks back up at Jason, her gaze unexpectedly piercing. It kind of makes him nervous — he didn't expect her to take it so seriously.
"What do they say?" He asks, looking between the cards and Jazz's face.
"They say you've been a cheerful ray of sunshine once, then you died and came back, and now you're trying to make your wrongs into rights," she answers, barely any emotion to her voice.
Jason feels his heart skip a beat, and his fingertips become numb.
Okay, so, maybe there's more to tarot readings than to flipping a coin.
He clears his throat. "Metaphorically, I hope?" He asks, trying for a teasing, lighthearted tone but not quite getting there.
Jazz waves her hand, the one that's still holding the rest of the deck, in the air. "It's a three card reading, which doesn't really provide much details, and I'm not a witch, so I'm not sure what part of it is a metaphor and what isn't. Tarot are simplified concepts structured into 78 pictures, you don't treat it as gospel truth."
As she speaks, another card falls out of the deck, landing on the table face down. Jazz looks down at it curiously, but, as she picks it up and reads it, her face changes.
Jason is nowhere near as good as Cass at reading people, but he still catches most of it — first surprise, then a fond sort of exasperation, and internal debate, and, finally, a reluctant acceptance.
"What is it?" Jason can admit he is insanely intrigued by that kind of reaction. Not to mention that, in the last five minutes, he's learned that tarot are, apparently, more knowledgeable than he thought, so he is kind of invested now.
"Cards that fall out of the deck are sometimes treated as additional parts of a reading, or as an advice," Jazz explains, placing the card down on the table.
Tumblr media
Jason tilts his head slightly. That's jasmine flowers, he knows that much, but he has no idea of their symbolic meaning or whatever.
"This is Star," Jazz continues, "A Major Arcana that signifies hope, and healing, and, well, a generally positive future, simply speaking."
Jason doesn't say anything, reaching for the card and picking it up. He doesn't really believe in tarot readings — not that he is a skeptic, he is aware that magic exists and all. But this is the equivalent of the universe telling him it's going to be okay, isn't it?
He snorts, letting go of the card and watching it fall back on the table. Then, he smiles, looking back at the redhead, "Does that mean you'll say 'yes' to coffee?"
Jazz rolls her eyes, but she is laughing while picking all the cards back and reaching for her bag.
"Sure, let's go. But you're paying, and I have to warn you: just a coffee won't cut it. I'm starving."
Jason grins, standing up from his seat, "Good thing I know a great Italian place nearby, then."
–○–
This is a part of the 'Crime Scene Do Not Cross' fic and takes place in between chapters 2 and 3.
About tarot:
First, that is an actual tarot deck, BOTANICA tarot designed by Kevin Jay Stanton. It's a really niche, nerdy kind of deck since there are no titles on any of the cards, and the meanings are centered around flower language and symbolic representation of each plant in folklore. It's a work of art, really.
This deck was given to Jazz by Sam as a gift. Jazz is really the Jack of all trades in this family — she picked up a few ghost tricks from Danny and Dani, some random knowledge from Vlad, a couple shortcuts from Tucker, and a bunch of magic stuff from Sam. She likes to explore all kinds of things, and the rest don't mind sharing. Sam reads that deck like an open book, by the way, she knows all the flower meanings by heart because, no matter how many times she says otherwise, she is just as nerdy as both Danny and Tucker.
The reading that Jazz did was a simple 'past, present, future' spread. The first card is Page of Wands, upright (leaves of the tree under which the Buddha achieved enlightenment and the crown of Agni in the center): beginning, inspiration, a young person at the start of their journey. The second card is Death, upright (pine tree and pine cones): change, rebirth. The third card is Seven of Swords, reversed (pink foxglove): a shift from hidden motives to honesty.

I’d love to think here was a reason as to why we met. And that is to teach us how to let go of someone no mater how much we wanted to hold on. Then, after all of this, we’ll be a much better version of ourselves. Stronger, braver and whole.
