JENNA CAN’T HEAR US, SHE’S BLIND

A classic PLL line that has been memed on endlessly, and yet I’ve only just realized - is what Hanna means that even if Jenna hears their stomping, Jenna won’t be able to see that it’s them because duh, she’s blind?

Does Jenna have a kink for making out next to windows? I think her rape-by-blackmail vid with Toby was also taken near a window

Emily has terrible situp form. Is she even exercising her abs. She’s also making the terrible choice to do them the morning of the meet

I’m concerned Emily doesn’t have any friends on the swim team to discuss training regimens with :/

You know who I bet knows things about training regimens? Paige.

Hanna fussing over Emily’s overtraining is cute. Less cute is Emily witnessing Tom and Ashley’s morning after, this is the most family drama she’s experienced outside of her own coming out

In my notes I wrote “Wren is gross” and it doesn’t even matter what scene this is about

Mike’s friend who bothers him in school...I think he’s genuinely concerned about Mike, it’s just filtered through terrible teenage bro levels of self-expression (asking Mike if he’s going to be a crackhead next)

Aria lies to Ezra about the confrontation she had with Jenna in ceramics class and never told him about the Mike burglary shenanigans

On one hand, she doesn’t want to mention Jason to Ezra, on the other hand she is the most secretive of the liars

As a naturally secretive person myself I’m inclined to defend this behaviour

Emily’s so stressed she gives herself an ulcer. Her little “when can I swim again” :( :( :(

Fun fact: Ulcers aren’t really caused by stress but by bacteria, though of course stress is not great for the immune system overall

Spencer is so cute when she’s defensive of Emily who has an ulcer, Do Not Scare Her Hanna! I love that when Aria shows up with a coffee Emily silently looks at Spencer to give the explanation.

Thus we can conclude the other three’s reactions to learning about Emily

Hanna: Stopped by her Mom’s workplace to borrow her car to go to the hospital, googled ulcers out of mild curiosity and went WAIT IT’S A HOLE IN YOUR STOMACH? THAT’S WHAT AN ULCER IS? A HOLE? SPENCER A HOLE???

Spencer: Already knew what an ulcer is but re-reviewed to know what Emily can or cannot consume and to provide Reassuring Facts on ulcer healing.

Aria: Does not know what an ulcer is and does not care to find out, does know Emily’s favorite coffee order and wants to give her a nice treat. Foiled by biology :/

Spencer is so funny when she interrogates Hanna on her Caleb sitch while they’re in the elevator. “Where else are you gonna go?” Guess Hanna has to answer her.

Ashley telling Tom to fuck off. Hell yeah!! Maybe tell him to talk to Hanna first

We see more of Jenna & Garrett Evilly Plotting than I remember, I’ll want to compare this to later Evil Plotting scenes from other characters

Emily gets hit with the second punch of steroid use. She is so scared and stressed about this :/ It is well-crafted emotional torture by A - to have first made Emily a liar and then a cheater, when Emily is the girl who cares most about fair play, whose mom stated back in S1 that her daughter was raised to earn everything she’s gotten

And all of it is in circumstances where no one would believe Emily telling the truth

Did the ulcer save Emily from getting kicked off the swimming team...

Mike seems to be actually doing his homework when Ella knocks on his door, which is a note I like

OK when Haleb is in Spencer’s family cabin, why is Caleb the one making the fire and Hanna the one to not know what kindling is? The camping scene last season had Hanna be the one with outdoor survival skills and Caleb clueless, I don’t like this arbitrary swap

All of Caleb’s shady shit happened in Allentown. I have memories of a fic where the backstory was Caleb & Paige being absolute disasters in Allentown and I wonder if the author chose that location because of this mention or just because, you know, it’s a place in PA

Was this whole plot so Haleb could get laid? Maybe a little bit

Wayne Fields is the one good father, he does not want Emily to stress about college and paying for it. Well sir please investigate your finances and military benefits

Emily wants to bail to Texas, Spencer appeals to her sense of justice in finding Ali’s killer. The limit to Spencer’s desire to protect her people, perhaps - she doesn’t want to be left alone

Hanna is really upset at Ashley saying she doesn’t want to get back with Tom, because that makes Hanna the sucker that is the only Marin who wants things back the way they were

2x08 is six weeks before the wedding. Enjoy fitting that into the timeline.

While Emily is alone and depressed in her hospital bed in her very shitty situation, Spencer pops up to go “Hey Em, wanna read through our dead friend’s autopsy report with me? Look at this X-ray of blunt force trauma to her skull.”

Emily does look at it, I ponder if Emily and Spencer were partners in bio class and they realize page 5 is missing. Oh no!

I have literally no memory of this plot point, would simply like to note that when Hanna asks “How can one page just disappear” I went yeah PLL I have that question too

You know Hanna is really broken up about her dad because she and Caleb literally sit on the curb while staring at the happy family. Do you think the parents of that family are going hey why is that teenage couple staring at us?

Chapter Nineteen: European Yew

Jason stood outside his old apartment before he dropped Saru’s hand. “Jason, you don’t have to—.”

“There’s—. The last time I was here, the place was made up like a—. It’s a memorial,” Jason interrupted. Saru frowned. “Going in there is like stepping into a coffin… And I won’t do it again. If you go down that alley and head up the fire escape, it’s the one in the middle on the second floor.” Jason pointed her in the direction of his apartment. Jason hugged himself as he watched Saru go up the fire escape. She disappeared, and he pulled his hood up and put on sunglasses, hiding his face.

From the street, Jason had a perfect view of the group home. It looked so friendly on the outside, but Jason knew how places like that were. He glanced backward at his apartment and sighed. His conscience couldn’t let him turn a blind eye to the evil in that house. “Saru… I didn’t leave you. I promise,” Jason mumbled. He rushed across the street to the group home and snuck around back. A few of the boys were out back, boxing. Some of the boys looked excited, while others looked apprehensive. “Hey, kid! You new or somethin’?” a boy shouted. Jason nodded. The boy stood nearly a foot above Jason and approached at a threatening pace. “Come on. Let’s fight.”

Jason chuckled. “No,” Jason answered.

The boy shoved him. “Come on. Are you scared?” he asked.

“I’m not… Trust me,” Jason replied, “And you’re not gonna be able to tick me off.”

The older boy smacked Jason upside his head. “You’re not going anywhere until you fight me… House rules, Princess,” he teased as he yanked Jason’s hair. Jason swatted his hand away and sighed.

“I’m not governed by the law of the house. I’m here to talk to the witch of the house,” Jason replied.

The boy spit in his face, and the other children gasped. Jason bowed and chuckled and wiped the spit from his cheek and glasses. “That wasn’t polite,” Jason replied. Ra’s and Talia trained him better than that. The boy hocked and spat in Jason’s face a second time. “Okay… You won’t get a third time to do that. I promise you this won’t end well… I’m not here to fight.”

Without a word, the boy moved to knee Jason. Jason blocked him, sighing as he knocked the boy off his feet and rolled the boy over onto his stomach as he broke the boy’s arm. The older boy shrieked in pain. “Excuse me. Can any of you point me toward the woman of the house?” Jason asked politely. A gangly boy with glasses nodded and beckoned Jason with an awkward twitch of the head toward the shed. He led Jason halfway through the backyard and stopped.

“You don’t wanna talk to Ma Gunn… You seem like a tough guy. But trust me... Ma Gunn’s no Mother Teresa—.”

Jason pulled the tall boy aside. “That’s what I wanted to know. What’s going on in this place?” Jason questioned. The boy shook his head.

“You don’t wanna know. Trust me,” the tall boy replied. Jason frowned, deciding to leave it be for the time being.

Jason approached the shed and knocked on the door, and the woman blew cigar smoke in his face. She looked past Jason at the commotion in the yard and chuckled. “You break Garrett’s arm?” Ma Gunn asked. Jason nodded. “You’re a tough little shrimp… I’ll give you that. What do you want?”

“Who’s Willis, and why did you think I was some kid named Jason?” Jason asked. He didn’t want anyone in Gotham to know he was alive, but he had to know why she knew them.

“Willis is my son… And Jason’s his son. You’ve got Willis’ hair… But you couldn’t be his kid. His kid died,” Ma Gunn replied, “Willis is dead too.”

“Well, maybe you should get your head checked before you ask a guy if he’s your dead grandson… And I’m serious about your boys. You really should keep a better eye on them. Someone could get killed,” Jason threatened.

“I’d eat you for breakfast, Kid… Come see me when you’ve got a couple of whiskers on your chin,” Ma Gunn teased. Jason huffed and went on his way.

When he reached the sidewalk, Saru ran toward him, grabbed him by his hoodie, and embraced him. “I thought you left me,” Saru whimpered. Jason wrapped his arms around her.

“Let’s go home, okay?” Jason replied. He rested his chin atop her head. “I wouldn’t leave you here alone.”

Saru nodded as she let go and backed away. “Sorry, that was—. That wasn’t—. Yeah. Let’s go home,” Saru stammered.

Saru was near-silent on the jet. She lay on the couch watching Jason cook. “Am I allowed to ask about earlier?” Jason questioned.

Saru sat up straight. “Do you remember me telling you that I had a brother?” Saru asked. Jason nodded, glancing up from his vegetables as he watched her unbraid her hair.

“Imay?” Jason asked. Saru nodded.

“Yeah. Imay was the only family I had. We grew up in the League together. I was a baby when our parents died on assignment in England. My brother was six or seven. Imay wasn’t like me. He didn’t take to killing people like I did. He feared me… That’s why he raised me as a Buddhist. He thought it’d make me appreciate the sanctity of life more… So, I don’t kill unless I have to.

“I loved my brother more than anyone in this world. His last assignment was with me. I was supposed to watch his back… Jason… Imay rushed ahead of me when he saw our target. There was a tripwire. He should’ve seen it, but I—. I was so far behind him I didn’t see it either. A flash of light blinded me. When I came to, I was covered—. I was in shock. I stood up and started searching for him.

“So, I thought—.” Saru hid her face in her hands.

Jason frowned. “Saru… I’m so—. I won’t scare you like that ever again. I promise,” Jason whispered. Saru breathed deeply before collecting herself.

“Where did you go? You never said,” Saru replied.

“Oh… I met my grandmother today. I hate her,” Jason replied, “The evil old crook I told you about is my grandma.”

Saru chewed her lip and nodded before laughing. Jason chuckled. “It’s a good thing I didn’t kill her. I can’t kill your grandma, even if she is evil,” Saru roared with laughter. Jason tried to contain his amusement, but it was written all over his face.

“I would’ve forgiven you. I think half the kids there would’ve forgiven you… We can always return and kill my grandma together,” Jason half-joked. Saru walked over to the kitchen and tapped her fingers on the counter. They met eyes, and Jason’s confidence quickly faded. He set the knife down, offering Saru his full attention. “Thank you… For reminding me that I’m alive.” Saru flashed a sweet smile, but her eyes were filled with tears.

“Thank you for letting me see your home,” Saru replied. The tone of her voice carried a sweetness to it, rendering Jason speechless. He could only swallow hard in reply.

What If One Piece had an LA-Based Dub? (Part 2)

Hey there guys!

I'm pretty some of you remember a post I made last month: What If One Piece had an LA-based Dub?

It did decently fine, and since I'm kinda bored this week, I figured I'd go ahead and do a part two.

But before we start, I do want to mention a few things.

-I completely forgot to mention Makino! Well in this AU, she would be voiced by Kath Soucie.

-For Luffy, I've decided to make Kari Wahlgren his official voice for this AU.

-As for Usopp, I've settled on Jason Marsden.

-Just wanted to talk about the dub from a meta standpoint real quick. After finishing The Roguetown Arc, the dub would go on hiatus for about three months, officially returning on November 3rd, 2003.

Well now that we got that out of the way, let's get started!

Reverse Mountain (November 3rd-4th, 2003):

Laboon would have his vocals provided by who else?, but Frank Welker.

Crocus would be voiced by Daran Norris, essentially sounding like a more serious version of Jack Smith.

Mr. 9 would be voiced by James Arnold Taylor, using a slight British accent.

Miss Wednesday aka Vivi would be voiced by Mae Whitman.

Whiskey Peak (November 5th-November 10th, 2003):

Karoo would have his vocals performed by Dee Bradley Baker.

Mr. 8 aka Ingram would be voiced by Clancy Brown.

Miss Monday would be voiced by Cree Summer.

Mr. 5 would be voiced by Gary Sturgis, using a similar voice to Ebon.

And Miss Valentine's Day would be voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessy.

Diary of Coby-Meppo (November 11th, 2003):

Initially, I was gonna have Garp by voiced by Clancy Brown, but I feel like he would've sounded too similar to Zeff (who if you remember from reading the part 1, who be voiced by Clancy).

So instead Garp will be voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.

Little Garden (November 12th-November 21st, 2003):

Mr. 3 would be voiced by Rob Paulsen, essentially sounding like an evil version of Donatello.

Miss Golden Week would be voiced by Grey Griffin.

And the giants Broggy and Dorry would be voiced by Brad Garrett and Jess Harnell respectively.

Drum Island (November 24th-December 12th, 2003):

Wapol would be voiced by Maurice LaMarche, doing a Russian accent like in the 4Kids Dub.

Dalton would be voiced by Phil LaMarr.

Dr. Kureha would be voiced by Tress MacNeille.

And finally, we come to the sixth member of The Straw Hats, Tony Tony Chopper.

Out of all The Straw Hats, Chopper was probably the hardest one for me to find a voice for.

I definitely wanted him to be voiced by a voice actress.

But one that was able to pull off a cute voice without it coming off as overbearing.

So after many years of thinking, I've decided that the perfect VA for Chopper would be the aforementioned Kath Soucie.

Not only does Kath have experience with voicing young male characters, but also ones with cutesy voices.

And those characters strike that perfect balance of having a cute voice without coming off as annoying.

I think the best way I could describe her performance as Chopper would a slightly older Tuffy from Tom and Jerry.

Hiruluk would be also be voiced by Maurice LaMarche.

Which is just the purest definition of delicious irony.

Like, the person who was Chopper's only friend and his father-figure is being voiced by the same guy who had a firing squad blow him to smithereens.

Chess would be voiced by Jeff Bennett, using a similar voice to Mr. Smee.

And Kuromarimo would be voiced by Tom Kenny.

And to wrap this all up, we've come to the big bad of the next arc and one of his operatives.

Crocodile would be voiced by Mark Hamill, using a similar mob boss voice to the 4Kids Dub.

As for Mr. 2 aka Bon Clay, he would be voiced by Jess Harnell.

Well that's all for now, folks!

Shorter than the last one, but that's because I covered seasons 2 and 3, which age a combined total of 30 episodes.

Which is about half of season 1's 61!

But anyway, I hoped you all enjoyed this second part!

Also, there's something really funny to note about this dub.

Already, this dub has reached the half-year point (6 months), running from June 2nd to December 12th of 2003.

And within the span of those 6 months, the dub has already covered the entirety of The East Blue Saga and nearly all of The Alabasta Saga!

Contrast that to The 4Kids Dub, which at their half-year point, had only reached The Baratie Arc.

But then again, they were airing new episodes every Saturday while this dub is airing new episodes (for now) every weekday.

Also, I'd love to hear some suggestions on who should voice the characters I've yet to cover!

Suns down, Las Vegas

I know its been a minute, but I decided to extend my stay over at Laughlin for a while and now I’m finally back! Time to talk about all the fun things in our glittering city

MGM Resorts will be getting rid of concierge desks at quite a few of their hotels and are switching to a digital concierge to cut costs. Although it might cost them some business a lot of tourists are complaining about this change saying that some arent as techy while others complain that they don’t want to deal with robot they want human empathy.But enough about them lets talk about what this means for us about 30 workers have now lost their jobs, but if the other hotels like the idea we could be looking at a rise in unemployment.

Speaking of unemployment on May 6th from 10 AM- 2PM North Las Vegas City Hall will be hosting a job fair for local government positions ranging from police work and fire all the way to land development and library.

There are talks of a new psychiatric facility for offenders going around and of our locals are not happy about it. The new facility is supposed to help alleviate capacity issues that have been going on for years now. Project leaders also pared with the Campus of Hope and had planned to turn Muri Stein Hospital into transitional housing. But West Valley residents do not want this in their neighborhood with worries regarding traffic and increased crime. So as a response they have started a website and petition against both projects until they can more information about both projects. State leaders have had no response.

Now enough with the boring lets talk about some fun stuff

Just four nights ago Travis Kelce was seen having a night out on the town with his brother Jason Kelce and Justin Timberlake, as far as I’ve heard nothing scandalous happened just some good old fashion gambling, but some people think its a sign him and Taylor are done

This Friday we have G-Easy coming to play at XS nightclub, Metro Boomin at LIV, Tyga at Hakkasan and of course we all know Calvin Harris will be at Omnia so ladies make sure to call up your promoter and get on the guest list and maybe get a table!

If nightclubs aren’t your scene we have quite a few comedians in town this weekend as well, like Jimmy O, Jerry Seinfeld and Brad Garrett

Watched the Minecraft movie! So spoiler alert!

I missed like the first 3 minutes but that’s fine. Just Steve disposition. The opening disposition was really… long. I meant it was cool. It felt like Jack Black was retelling his storyline for his Minecraft world. But it was also just a bit too long. Like I was wondering when the intro was going to end and when we were going to meet everyone else.

I avoided like trailers and everything talking about bcuz it’s Minecraft? I wanted to be completely surprised and immersed in it. So I totally missed it was produced and starring Jason Mamoa. And I think we hate that guy? I liked the movie quite frankly there was a lot of jokes and just general things said that I didn’t think was appropriate for a kids movie. Granted grain of salt, kids shows do tend to hide adult jokes.

At the end of the day I liked it. I totally ship Steve and Garrett. They had a beautiful enemies to lovers story. Quite frankly I think Steve and Jason should’ve stayed in Minecraft. Forget about the world of consumerism and just bro out…. But them getting married and living together in their gaming shop is also cute. I think someone said it was a musical? I don’t think Jack Black singing 4 songs counts as a musical. it’s interesting that the kids thing at the end of the movie was he “finally completed his jet pack” as if the only that stopped him the first time wasn’t that a wire was cut… I loved the petting zoo idea. Weird tho I feel like real estate would make her more money? I thought the animal thing was her side hustle? I guess she likes animals more? Also i don’t understand the sister getting a new job. Unless she was fired she still should’ve had a job. I think it was good? Personally I was really scared the factory was going to blow up so for the statue to just fall off, no way that would’ve gotten her fired. She can’t even say she hated her job. She was there for what? One day? Also her job was a social media manager??? Also like how did she have enough money to start her own business? Minecraft diamonds? Also also no way she fought enough in that one day to start a business from it. Also also also no way it would be lucrative in that small town. Also also also also what the heck was the villager romance side plot? it was the most random, could’ve been cut, unnecessary thing. Was it just to get Jennifer Coolidge to have more screen time???

I was fully hoping the end was going to be them coming in and out of Minecraft world like a usual kids cartoon. Like in the day he’s a regular student but after school, and weekends and holidays, the gang comes together to go on more adventures. And then in the background, it like an after credit scene, it shows their next enemies, and it’s like the warden. The Minecraft world gets infected by sculk.

It’s awards season!!!!!!!

The Golden Globes sure got some smack. Jo Koy was raked over the coals for his idea of hosting. He kept angrily making excuses and telling the crowd he didn’t write some of the jokes. What?? It is a tough gig and I can sympathize BUT I don’t think he said any terrible things but it was the way he said it. Everybody was talking about Taylor Swift but I didn’t see that she seemed angry, she often looks like that. I was taken aback by the Barbie thing. He was right, as Greta Gerwig pointed out that it was true that they made a movie about a doll with big boobs. I think it was the way he said it. He was so dismissive on a night that was sort of celebratory for women. To have a box office smash all around a woman theme was a breakthrough. He treated it like it could not compare to the ‘important’ movies. He made fun of their work instead of some of the actual celebrity eccentricities like a Gervais might do. I don’t know that it was the big deal the press made of it, just don’t ask him back. My best dressed were Issa Rae, Nicolas Cage, Rosamund Pike, Rachel Brosnahan, Brie Larson, Selena Gomez, Julia Garner, Andra Day, Taylor Swift, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jim Gaffigan, Matt Rhys, Natasha Lyonne, Natalie Portman, Margot Robbie, Lenny Kravitz, Deacon Phillippe, Kristen Wiig, Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster and Emma Stone. The theme of the night seemed to be slicked back hair. Winners included Ricky Gervais, Davine Joy Randolph, Robert Downey Jr., Ali Wong, Lily Gladstone, Sarah Snook, Matt McFadden, Paul Giamatti and KIERAN CULKIN!! The whole audience stood when they called Culkin’s name which seemed to embarrass him but he so deserved it. There is always one older celeb who acts a bit strange, this year it was Kevin Costner who mumbled his banter and seemed to hate America Ferrera. They were an odd couple. A great couple was Martin Short and Meryl Streep who insist they are just good friends. They were so cute and I want them together in the worst way!! I was thrilled that the powers that be made this award show easy to watch. Award shows are very strict about keeping things on the network that broadcast the event. This show was on multiple sites. I always wonder about that because they don’t have enough ratings to be so selfish.

The Critics Choice awards were hosted by Chelsea Handler who did a good job. To me, the best dressed were Jen Aniston, Carey Mulligan, Jodie Foster, Margot Robbie, Colman Domingo, Harvey Guillen, Chelsea Handler, Christina Ricci, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kieran Culkin, Alison Williams, Lenny Kravitz, Ali Wong, Mandy Moore, Rosamund Pike, Quinta Brunson, Bella Ramsey, Kaley Cuoco and Karen Pittman. I was so glad to see Ramon Rodriguez nominated!!!** Kieran Culkin won again!! Other winners include Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Ali Wong, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Succession and American Fiction. When Meryl Streep is nominated for tv, it reminds me of the Nascar Cup drivers that compete in the other races. She didn’t win anyway but it just doesn’t seem quite right.

The 75th Emmys was hosted by Anthony Anderson and he did a good job too. His Mother was even better. TV theme songs were front and center. I think Mr. Anderson just really wanted to sing them! My best dressed were Sheryl Lee Ralph, Rhea Seehorn (who I was really routing for but no win), Ken and Tran Jeong, Alan Ruck, Dominique Fishback, Taylor Tomlinson, Brian Cox, Ali Wong (she nailed it at every show), Niecy Nash, Joy Sunday, Sarah Snook, Briga Heelan, Katherine Hiegel, Jenna Ortega, Donald Glover, Giancarlo Esposito, Jessica Chastain, Mario Bello, Keiran and Jazz, Claire Danes and Riley Keough. Princess Poppy stood out for the Green Goblin look. I was most excited to see Holland Taylor, Marla Gibbs, the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel cast and Carol Burnett. Winners include Kieran again, Quinta Brunson, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Snook, The Daily Show with Trever Noah and Succession. I laughed the most when the It’s Always Sunny cast came on. Give those funny humans some love academy!!!!** Seriously, I liked the winners in any Saul category that won but Better Call Saul was so overdue with 0 for 53.
