A Espada Selvagem de Conan Edição n°05 - Entre Serpentes . . Hq mensal (ou seria bimestral?) Pelo selo da Marvel Comics, com 48 páginas tem Roteiro de Jim Zub e Arte por Patch Zircher compila os capítulos: Conan o jogador 2-3 e os contos: A sombra da Vingança 8-9 de 12 partes . . Como na edição anterior vimos uma melhora significativa nos desenhos, e vimos Conan envolvido em "Jogos de Azar" mas subitamente seu contratante teve um mau súbito e morreu, deixando o Jovem Cimério a mercê de uma dívida e uma grande aposta, a tensão do jogo e no passo de cada carta colocada a mesa mostra um lado de Conan que ainda não conhecíamos, o pior estaria por vir quando uma trapaça o coloca numa esrrascada, tendo assim que mostrar o que sabe fazer de melhor que é empunhando uma espada! . Mas uma grande reviravolta na trama nos mostrará algo inusitado deixando para o próximo capítulo: A sorte é uma Dama. . É uma leitura relativamente rápida, curta, com boas cenas e narrativa beirando ao sarcasmo e até mesmo a poesia. . Jim Zub on Passion and Planning in Comics

The Toronto Comics Anthology has always been an ongoing platform to showcase veteran as well as up-and-coming creators. In addition to featuring work from unpublished writers and artists in our fourth volume (now on Kickstarter), we conducted a series of short interviews to share helpful tips and insights with new creators.

What’s the best piece of comics advice you ever got?

Jim: Don’t worry about trends or styles, just create something that you as a reader would love to read and, if it’s done well, it’ll find an audience of readers like you and grow from there.

Some of the biggest comic hits of the past couple decades were books that didn’t ��fit’ the market they arrived into: Scott Pilgrim, Bone, The Walking Dead, Saga, and so many more. They were made with heart and gained traction through word of mouth from an audience that responded to their quality.

What are you working on now?

Jim: Wayward and Glitterbomb at Image, Thunderbolts for Marvel and Dungeons & Dragons: Frost Giant’s Fury at IDW.

What about the city inspires you? Does it affect your work?

Jim: I didn’t notice it at first, but the four distinct seasons of Canada creep into my work, especially winter. A couple years ago there were four distinctly different comics I wrote that involved characters in the snow that directly connected to my own thoughts and feelings moving through winter in Toronto.

On top that, I love Toronto as a melting pot. The variety of food and culture is a constant source of inspiration.

What do you think is the hardest thing about getting a comic published or self-published?

Jim: Finding that sweet spot between adequate planning and forcing yourself to take a project to the finish line. You want to spend enough time building a story so it’s good, but not so much that you freeze up and never get it done.

Are there unexplored genres or underused themes that you’d like to see more of in comics?

Jim: I think we’re in a good spot right now. The comic market is jam-packed with skilled creators telling all kinds of different stories. I just want more of everything – Comics for kids, comics for adults, genres and themes aplenty.
