hey guys are we gonna talk about joe and cleo? bc i think we need to talk about joe and cleo.

this guy risks life, limb, and hermit citizenship to help cleo ride a horse across the nether roof from the world border to the original spawn.

and it's not like they can just do it easily. scar and cub are on their ass every time they log on. yet he still risks everything, fights an ender dragon with nothing but borrowed armor, cheats death over and over and over all for cleo.

Grian... Isn't good with the language parts of pride. He's a watcher, so he's quite ancient. Which wouldn't be a problem, but most of that was spent with the watchers, who other than him, are all female, and all sapphic. So all grian knows about being queer was from BEFORE he was living with the other watchers. Which was: A, in Japan, and B, not exactly the most progressive time. So for a while, the other hermits had no clue what Grian's stance was. He appeared to be some sort of casual homophobe who regularly forgot about straight women. it took pearl showing up to explain, the only reason pearl isn't just as bad, is because she has her wonderful girlfriend gem. Grian has... A short list of exes who weren't too healthy. So he's a bit surprised that the moment they find out he's queer with bad grasp on terms instead of homophobic, his male best friends are all suddenly being very VERY nice to him. Although it's a little off-putting when he calls one of them 'gaylord' for getting him flowers. He's just embarrassed.

It takes them a little while to realise throwing Grian in at the deep end maybe isn't the way to do it. So now they're all trying (and mostly failing) to be subtle.

At least Cleo and Joe have taken Grian under their wings.

Headcanon for further reasoning, Cryptid Joe who just.. gives his limbs to Cleo? Ex. Oh no, she accidentally lost their entire arm, Joe will let ya borrow his :D

+ They have swapped left hands and go about life as if it's normal that Cleo's hand suddenly has blood flow, or that Joe's looks dead but somehow still moving.

AND AND AMDDD they have sleepovers and paint each other's hands, and are matching (ex. Cleos right has red nails, and Joe's left is the same)
