It had sososo much potential!!! i really wish it was better than it was, but I dont think it was necessarily as bad as everybody acted like it was!! this was the first FULL season I experienced in real time (i started watching like towards the end of s3 when it was coming out) so I think its exciting to me bc like nostalgia 💔

my main problem is the casting bc even though they brought great cast members back there was little to no chemistry between them

i think that Joey's constant guilt for Colleen's death was super confusing because he did the same thing to Justine and worse to tana? (literally was 1 of 2 people who chose for her to die vs the entire group voting colleen)

I fear colleens whole "they literally shoved me into a box of spikes" thing got really old for me really quick </3

i ALSO think I would have enjoyed the season more if Justine and tana didnt have scripted deaths bc i really like Justine + I think tana totally could have survived

ALSO i loved the lieutenants this season!! the whole museum theme was super cool!! wish they expanded a bit more on backstories like s3 although they might have and im just forgetting

but im sososoo glad they featured matt and nikita even if it was just for a couple episodes bc like those r my favssss

It’s been a few months since Empires s2 came to an end and I wanted to make a piece reflecting on the time we spent with these characters 🥰✨ When season 1 ended I did a series of paintings set to the End Poem, and so I decided to revisit the concept once again, making sure to switch up which line corresponded to which person. This series means a lot to me—in fact, this is one of two big Empires s2 projects I’ve been working on! There’s another one still in the works :D

Ok so ive had this au idea running through my brain for MONTHS ever since I watched escape the night after watching empires SMP, and then after reading ‘Keep the Faith’ by RubiesAndDiamonds on ao3 (EtN x empires crossover go read it it’s so good!!)

Keep the Faith is basically an AU where EtN Joey (after getting sucked into Pandora’s Box) is transported to the world of Empires and is utterly confused about the mechanics lol. (It has amazing world building and a really interesting story)

Anyways my au idea involves combining EtN lore and empires lore, alongside MANY of my headcannons :3

What if Exor was the Cursed God? What if him and Joey were so horrifically intertwined that no matter which world or time Joey is reborn in, Exor will always be right there after him.

in my AU, EtN world is called Terra, I’m still thinking on the logistics since the normal hcs for Hermitcraft and world jumping confuse me a bit lol, but Terra is the same world that Yandere High School (where Grian went in his teen years in this au, I’ve read summaries of the series, but I wasn’t going to include a lot of stuff from here anyways)

Part 1: Escape the Night & everything up to the beginning of Empires episodes

thousands of years ago in Empires, after a battle, Aeor exiled his brother Exor to another world. This world was Terra, where Exor slowly began to corrupt people (aka The Sorceress, The Carnival Master, etc.) His powers were significantly weaker, he had no host, no way back, and he was bored.

He began to play sick games with people, before slowly realizing with glee that every time a person died in his games, he could feel himself growing stronger. He relished in each win, each game finished with everyone dead.

Eventually the Society Against Evil was formed, but it was clear they didn’t truly understand what they were up against. They believed that sacrifices during the games didn’t matter as long as they defeated him in the end, but each death made him stronger than ever. Exor was at the top of this world, feeding and killing and scheming to return to his world and destroy his brother Aeor forever.

At least, until Joey inherited the house. Because Joey didn’t just become another victim: he won. Sure, most of Joey’s friends had died, but for once in Exor’s thousands of years playing the game, he had lost. He had never lost before, but now he coukd feel his power draining from him, slipping away farther and farther.

To Exor, this was unacceptable. (This is were Exor’s everlasting vendetta against Joey begins). It wasn’t hard to use the deed Joey took as a vessel through which to influence him, especially since the dark aura of the house had already done that to everyone already.

(Also look at this post for what I imagine to have happened directly after s1!!)

Eventually, Exor was able to start suggesting things to Joey, giving him dreams and nightmares and indications that his friends were calling to him from a mansion, and all he had to do was go look for answers.

Of course, then he got mind controlled/possessed by the Sorceress, killed several people (most if not all deserved), double trauma of the same exact kind, and died.

Now Exor’s real plan could start: all he needed was for Joey to open the portal between worlds, so that he could go back to his home realm.

It took a while, (2 more seasons of EtN exactly) but eventually Exor possessed Joey long enough to make him open Pandora’s Box so that Exor could travel back to his world.

(Exor had been exiled after Conal and Alinar, Joey landed/was reborn in Empires the same year as Xornoth & Scott)

Prince Joey of the Maztec Empire had no idea why he had strange nightmares and not-memories so often, and he wouldn’t for a long while. Eventually he met Prince Xornoth of Rivendell, and they became friends, and maybe more >:3 At least, until Exor (who had been kicked out of Joey’s body when he was reborn, thus no longer having a vessel) decided that Xornoth was the perfect new vessel through which to destroy Alinar and bring this world to flames. Added bonus: hurting Joey.

Xornoth gets slowly corrupted, tells Joey something feels wrong with him, refuses to ask anyone (his parents) for help, eventually becomes corrupted and kills his parents, the Maztec Empire is nearly destroyed (both due to Xornoth’s rampage and due to internal conflict with the Royal family) hiding itself away in the magic jungle, and Joey (alongside all other surviving Maztec Empire citizens) forced to rebuild in secret, all the while losing their connection to their elemental spirits.

PART 2: Empires S1 coming soon! Not today though. Maybe not tomorrow either 👉
