Brock and Cilan exchanged a look.

“She doesn’t!” Ash insisted. “She’s never even kissed me.”

“You think she needs to kiss you if she likes you?” Cilan asked, looking concerned.

Ash’s frown deepened. “Serena did. I mean, she like, left and didn’t talk to me for a long time right after, but she did. That’s how I know she liked me. Melody too. And maybe Bianca, though that was probably Latias. It was unclear.”

“Plenty of other girls have liked you without kissing you,” Brock stated simply, then began counting them off on his fingers. “Macy, from the Johto League, for example. She asked you on a date and everything. Misty did not like that, by the way.”

Aah scoffed. “No, she just didn’t like her because she was a fire-type trainer and she insulted water types.”

“Incorrect. Angie, from Sinnoh, that’s another one. Oh, and I’m pretty sure Anabel from the Battle Frontier. All liked you, never kissed you. And that’s just the girls.”

“Oh?” Cilan asked, raising his eyebrows in interest and surprise.

Brock smirked. “Remind me to tell you about Goh.”

“You hardly even hung out with Goh!” Ash cried.

“Yeah, but Dawn is a gossip,” Brock said with a smirk. Ash pouted.

Cilan hummed. “I didn’t realize you were that popular, Ash. I’m almost impressed.”

“Don’t be. None of those people like me. Especially not Misty.”

“Maybe Misty’s never kissed you because the last time she tried, you went running and screaming into a table,” Brock offered, deadpan, causing Cilan to cringe.

“Oh noo. Really?”

Brock nodded, sadly. “Christmas party. She got him under the mistletoe. It was brutal.”

“Ouch, Ash,” Cilan tsked. “Rude.”

Ash rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “You don’t even like Misty!”

“I do too!” Cilan gasped.

“You do not! You spent the whole time you were hangin’ out with us making fun of her!”

“So did you,” Cilan sniffed, which shut Ash up immediately. “Besides, it was all in good fun. She was a good sport. She has an exquisite sense of humor.” He glared down at Ash and wagged his finger. “And don’t change the subject!”

Ash groaned and flopped backwards into the back of the chair, throwing up his arms in indignation. “Misty doesn’t like me!”

Brock sighed. “Ash, who knows Misty better than me?”

Ash raised an eyebrow at him challengingly. “I mean, probably her sisters and Tracy at this point, with how much he hangs around Daisy lately.”

“Wrong. I know her best. I’ve known you two for a long time and I know she likes you.”

“Why does it even matter?!” Ash finally cried, throwing his hands into the air. “Why are we even talking about this?!”

“Because you like her too,” Cilan stated simply.

Immediately, Ash’s face flushed. “No I don’t.”

Brock smirked. “You’re blushing.”

“No I’m not.”

Cilan sighed, clasping his hands behind his back and shrugging flippantly. “Well then, I guess it won’t matter to you to find out that Gary asked her out yesterday.”

That seemed to get Ash’s attention. “Gary? Gary who? Gary Oak?” He made a face. “Well, now I know you’re just making stuff up. Misty wouldn’t go out with Gary. I know Gary is cool now, but she’s always said she thinks he’s egotistical.”

“I guess you’re right, Ash,” Brock began, obviously not believing Ash was right in the slightest. “What would Misty see in someone rich and smart and handsome and mature enough to admit he actually likes her?”

Ash frowned, his eyebrows furrowing. “Did she say yes?” he asked quietly.

Brock and Cilan shared a look. “Not yet,” Brock told him. “But she might. Unless you do something about it.”

I gotta give this one to Astarion, though. Not that Dorian doesn't have quick wit and a sharp tongue to match - but Vivienne's words about him ring in my ears: "pretending to be a shark from a land of sharks... but you're not a shark and never will be, darling. They knew it, just as you do. (...) Such snapping for a fish without teeth!"

Astarion is what Dorian would be if given 200 years to stew in his suffering and a dose of Fenris and Zevran's backstory. His no holds barred cuntiness strikes me as more deliberately cruel than Dorian at his meanest (the worst Dorian does banter-wise is like.. tease Sera for not possessing his expansive vocabulary and call Solas an apostate hobo).

But you know what's even funnier than them being cunty, anon? People seeing through their transparent attempts at deflection because neither of them are as suave and unreachable as they like to think they are.

Bull: Dorian's a sweet guy. He's gentle, and he cares under all that bluster.

(kind of) Mind Dump: COVID Magazine Article I Made For College

long text summary: for my college class, i made a magazine article about the covid-19 pandemic with indesign, photoshop and word. i believe a resource like this should be free and accessible, so here is a pdf link to print it out and a link to the process. yes, the process is on a wix website, as we need to use that to display our work in this course.

this was my final project for college this year. it is an article about the covid-19 pandemic and the fifth anniversary of the start of lockdown. i am proud of this and thought it would be nice to publicly share.

i conducted a survey on my class to get ideas on what i should include most and receive covid experiences from them. i researched magazine article designs and covers, researched basic covid facts and statistics, took photos (yes, all of those masks and the rainbow painting are mine) and made this a hypothetical feature of a hypothetical magazine brand. i made a logo for the hypothetical magazine using a knitted hedgehog i found at my bus stop as the mascot. the process for building and creating this took 10 weeks, or 30 college days.

featuring my usual bus brainrot, a roxanne wolf plush and a karen.

i also thought it would be nice to print a physical copy. i used an a3 size, made the back cover (literally just the background of the front cover) set it up in word, printed it off and trimmed the edges. i also thought that i should let others print it, so if you would also like to print one, or would like to see it more clearly, the pdf link is at the top. to print, choose "a3", if the printer supports it, and "print on both sides - flip on short edge".

i will update with my grade.

Five years ago…

In this issue of Looking Back, we detail the main occurrences of 2020. If you, at any point during this time, had doubts about the pandemic existing, this article is for you.

Introduction: As everyone reading this will know, coronavirus became a global pandemic in late March of 2020. This was five years ago now, and the world has come far since then. In roughly 20-50 years from now, the new generations will start being taught about COVID-19 in school because they would not have been alive to experience it, similarly to how our generations were not alive to experience the historical topics we were taught about. In this article, we will remember the virus and the events, regulations and restrictions that came with it.

Tests and vaccines: In the UK alone, 24,910,387 COVID cases were recorded, with 232,112 deaths and 22,954,691 recoveries. This data was gathered from worldometers.info. Tests to detect the virus were made and able to be completed at testing sites. This first test method was referred to as polymerase chain reaction, or PCR. An NHS app was released in September 2020 to mark COVID cases and inform the user if they had come into contact with an infected person. In April 2021, a different type of COVID test called rapid lateral flow was released for the public to take at home in a similar method to the PCR. The tests were successful in detecting cases and many people took them when necessary. In a survey conducted, most people that took them thought that both tests provided accurate results. Vaccines were first introduced on 8th December and, in the first year alone, almost 120 million doses were administered, with over 3,000 vaccination sites open. Along with the boosters, these vaccines were proven very effective. This information was gathered from gov.uk.

Isolation experience:  For many months, strict restrictions were put into place to prevent further spread of the virus. During this time, all young people had to be homeschooled, adults had to work from home and many online events took place over this period. It was at this point that we acknowledged the hard work that the key workers put in, especially the NHS, and chose to honour them by applauding and banging pots and pans out in the streets weekly and making posters. I painted my own poster to honour the NHS. I conducted my own survey on my class about experiences during the pandemic. The results:

Everyone said that they did not believe COVID was fake.

Deciding the topics to include here, tests and vaccines was the highest voted.

¾ of the responders said that COVID affected them or anyone close to them personally.

Asking for details about the experiences. Before using them here, I made sure to obtain consent from the responders that provided experiences, giving the option for them to remain anonymous or directly referred to, which was question 5. The following are some of the responses I received.

Thank you to everyone in my class that participated in this survey, including my tutors, and submitted experiences to use.

Masks and other restrictions: From the start of the lockdown, the social distancing restriction and hand washing and sanitising guidance were discussed and implemented. From June 2020 to January 2022, face masks were required to be worn in public spaces. There were exemptions with people with certain disabilities and primary-aged children. Acceptable forms of masks included surgical masks and cloth masks, which many often made themselves. They came in a range of colourful designs and could have disposable or in-built filters. In the banner, you can see all the masks that I own and used over COVID and a plush toy demonstrating how to wear one correctly, as well as an avatar of a woman wearing one incorrectly. Most of mine have filter pockets.

COVID deniers: While most people followed the government guidance and rules, there were many that refused to. This was due to individual beliefs and preferences but also influence from extremism. These people took action by meeting with others, not wearing masks and protesting. Surveys were conducted to find the disbelievers, who were mostly from the US, unsurprisingly. They believed that masks were made a requirement “in order for the government to control humanity” and that vaccines “change DNA.” Surprisingly, however, when a survey was conducted in Greece, it revealed that under 30s were more likely to disbelieve COVID than over 30s.

Conclusion: In conclusion, the coronavirus pandemic was a very challenging time for the world. Many loved ones were lost, many negative thoughts, certain behaviours creating worse problems and the situation felt never-ending. However, among it all, we came out feeling relief that had been held back, and we survived it. Even if we lost hundreds of thousands, they will always be remembered in the minds and hearts of those that cared. If you are reading this and you had doubts about this global event, I hope I have provided enough evidence to prove your thoughts otherwise.

The Batkids play a game called “Guess Who Bruce Is Disappointed In Today” and it is a bloodsport.

It started as a joke. It is no longer a joke.

Every morning, without fail, one of them walks into the kitchen and says:

“Guess who Bruce is disappointed in today?”

And they all take turns guessing based on crime alerts, nightly patrol rotations, and vibes.

It’s become a system.

It went like:

Jason: “I knocked out a senator by accident. My odds are high.”

Tim: “I drank seventeen Red Bulls and fell asleep on top of the Batcomputer.”

Damian: “I released three bats into Gotham General Hospital as enrichment. They were bored.”

Steph: “I called him ‘Brucie’ in front of a senator.”

Cass: Just raises a finger and shrugs.

Then Bruce walks in, dead silent, pours his coffee, looks at no one, and walks away.

Tim: “It’s Jason.”

Jason: “DAMN IT.

Rules:

If you guess wrong, you have to do patrol with Damian and listen to him rant about the superiority of traditional swordsmanship for two hours.

If you guess right, you get to choose the movie on family movie night.

If Bruce is disappointed in himself, everyone gets ice cream. That’s the law.

It got so serious they made a whiteboard. Labeled it: “DISAPPOINTMENT LEADERBOARD.”

The fabled, infamous buckled collar shirt… Opens. He’s usually always wearing his cowl and vest so you can’t usually tell. He does love wearing shirts with open/low collars, which you can esp tell by the Daydream Hour outfits Kui designed for him, so makes sense. And yet… The buckle collar…

If u don’t think this is the same shirt btw he actually does up his collar when meeting the canaries. Just 1 scene difference before after, below. He likes to open up his collars when the setting is more casual but business or action happens and it’s back to being all proper and laced up

Btw idk if it’s a mistake but that screentone on Chilchuck’s chest in the second picture of the post… Is Kui telling us he has body hair. Idk is he dirty does he need a shower?? Kui doesn’t draw Senshi with much body hair in the manga for practicality reasons but she did draw in a Daydream Hour once how much she actually thinks he has, so it wouldn’t be crazy if this was the case for Chil too, and then in a final chapter in a close shot panel where she even details the seams of the shirt she can go all out more. Kui talks about peach fuzz and whatnot for elves so maybe they’re just finer or paler in his case. Please please please— Sigh ok it’s a screentone mistake

Theyre chatting all the while, acting like ur just a nice commodity, hands groping at you. Price presses a kiss to ur lips while his thick hand slips under ur shirt, rubs along ur sides. Then ghost is licking a line up ur neck and squeezing ur thigh. Ur so so desperate for them, teary eyed and hoping for a release. But they never give it to you, ur pleasure isnt the focus, they just need something to mess with. They keep talking, and talking, and you swear you'll be kept on edge forever.

Maybe price takes pity on you, finally sits you on his thigh. Or ghost shoves you down and presses a boot between ur legs. Maybe they never actually finish you and just toss u to the sargeants...who knows🤷‍♂️

i think my favorite thing about the old guard was how much and how obviously they all LOVED each other. like. the baclava scene. those first hugs between andy, nick and joe. andy cradling booker's face while she begged him to wake up, and the tender forehead-touch when he did. how they all (barring andy, who i assume was taking a guard dog-like position) slept so closely together in the church. how quick they were to all surround andy when they found out about her mortality. how KIND andy was, even when coming out to tell booker what his punishment would be. how they waited and looked to each other in relief every time they died—and how the first thing they thought of when they felt nile's presence was that they had to help her, because they all knew how scared and alone she would be feeling right then. hell, even booker's motivation for his betrayal wasn't the typical scheming double-crosser's motivation; he just wanted to help, to try and give the rest of the guard (mainly he and andy) a means of control—a way to REST. to decide when to stop on their own terms. they weren't just a team of badass immortal soldiers dedicated to protecting the earth; they were friends, with relationships centuries in the making, and it showed. they were a family.
