What I love about here is that we just talk about the books we love. There's no talking about a reading goal , no one mentions how many books they read this month/year. We could just yap about the same series and never get tired of it or feel pressure to read more.

Don't you hate when you've read a good chunk of a book, been reading it at a good pace. And then suddenly you just like...stop?

Like you don't want to DNF it. But you're suddenly in the mood to try something else?

Because right now that's me with Watchers by Dean Koontz, and I'm now in the mood to either reread Silk and Steel once again, or pick up a different fantasy book.

I'm liking Watchers, but it's like I need a breather from it, y'know?

I think my biggest problem with leaving comments is that I can't seem to say anything original??? Like YOUR FIC IS AMAZING AND GOREGOUS AND SPECTACULAR AND JUST MIND-BLOWING but then all I can do is use the same words over and over again and it's like what are words? why are they so limiting? the true human experience can never be captured in them? we try, oh, how we try. but we always fall a bit short. the offering is hopeful in its attempt and yet crude in its execution. words are brittle things, fragile as bone, yet we hand them over, broken, chipped, stained with the oil of our fingers, as if they could ever be enough to convey the enormity of feeling.

when i say your fic is gorgeous, i know it is but a single candle compared to the cathedral of light you deserve. it is to sing a single note when my chest burns with an entire symphony.

i guess what i mean to say is, the offering is this: clumsy heap of language laid at your feet, not because it can match the depth of what you've created, but because I hope you’ll understand the attempt. it's not perfect. it's not whole. but it's yours, if you'll have it.

Sometimes I write (quite) eloquent paragraphs & essays analysing characters and metaphors and passages from books that moved me,, sometimes I brainrot word vomit headcanons and theories into my tumblr drafts until I feel physically sick missing imagined people - there is no in between

But when the book's MAIN PLOT is romance, I don't enjoy it that much ....Like i NEVER rated a romance book a 5 stars 😭

I dislike posting on TikTok, because of voice dysphoria & the effort of having to film, but my book reviews do so much better there. So. Much. Better.

Alternatively, I love posting on Tumblr, even though I hardly get any interactions, because seven months later a random book review will take off & get a flurry of folks excited about my favorite authors.
