A judicial organization that sets national policy for federal courts has rejected a request from two Democratic lawmakers to refer Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to the Justice Department over free travel and gifts from wealthy benefactors that were largely omitted from his financial disclosure forms.

The group, the Judicial Conference, sent identical letters Thursday to Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., who chairs the Judiciary subcommittee on federal courts, and Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., the ranking member of the Judiciary subcommittee on courts, who asked it in 2023 to refer Thomas to the attorney general for investigation following a ProPublica report on free travel and gifts to Thomas by billionaire Harlan Crow and others.

Judicial Conference Secretary Robert J. Conrad Jr. said Thomas had filed amended financial disclosures "that address several issues identified in your letter" and argued that there is legal uncertainty over whether the Judicial Conference has the authority to refer complaints about Supreme Court justices.

Ajax watches you for a moment, eyes tracing your fingertip as it gently grazes mark after mark across his face. “Counting what?” He asks, feigning ignorance.

“Shh. No talking when I’m counting.”

He pouts, doesn’t like the way your attention is elsewhere. (Faintly, he can recognize in the back of his mind that yes, your attention is technically on him, and yes, he’s certainly getting jealous of himself. But, well, Ajax is just human.)

“Well, I want to talk, so—” his hand gently grabs your wrist, plucking it away from his face as he nibbles against your fingertip. You squeal, fighting back a laugh as you glare at him. (Weakly, of course.)

(And yes, his lips do quiver for a moment, and yes, he does cling to the fact that you think you’re lovers in your past life. Sometimes it’s not so easy to believe he’s worthy of your love—not until you remind him he doesn’t have to earn it. It comes like second nature.)

Where do you think the entire "Miquella embedded himself in the Haligtree in order to ascend to godhood" came from? Because the game never actually said what Miquella was doing with it.

Ofnir just said that before Miquella finished whatever he was doing, he was taken before he could. And considering the context was the Haligtree being a husk, I dare to say that Miquella was connected to the tree for it to feed on his blood.

I, personally, never thought that Miquella embedded himself into the Haligtree to ascend to Godhood(because of unalloyed gold and miqs obvious disdain for gods in the base game) I thought that Miquella was basically doing a Ranni and shedding his empyrean flesh as well as his curse, while also supplying the Haligtree with a fresh supply of blood.

Him using the Haligtree to ascend to Godhood was just one theory among many, but sadly because of the very bad no good DLC what Miquella's exact plans and reason for embedding himself into the Haligtree will never be answered (also utterly hate how the Haligtree was reduced to an unimportant side project and its sheer importance to Miquella fucking forsaken >:(

But yeah, Miquella was quite literally the Haligtree's heart, and when he was removed it too began to wither and die :'(
