Keymaster appreciation post
There's something to be said about his initial design and I will say this something. We are taking the original game as an example, but will touch on the remaster too.
The design

How the fuck did Poki do it? How can you make a character that looks like an absolute dork AND kinda intimidating at the same time? I tell you how, but before that - let's examine these two faces.
Unfortunately, Poki clearly had a trouble with the Keymaster staying on model, I call the first version "squarey" (you can see this version of his face during the first dialogue and during KM wait in the truck) and the second's "long-ey" (you can see this one everywhere else) but I will say that I generally prefer the second version - the long face one.
Why? The look is a bit more human and not "I don't have no fucking eyelids", the eyebrows are so much prominent, which adds to the look, and the bang is a bit longer.
So what's so cool and actually funny about his design?
He combines two archetypes: a general creep (sick (not in a cool way) eye and skin colors (dude may wanna check his liver tho), an indication of sunken eyes, the stache) and a coolass emoboy (this fucking haircut, smug talk, drama). Like these two guys fused together:

Like dude what the fuck
Also his skin color is fucking sickening you know why? Ever tried to rub your skin along - say - shoulder? Ever got these partricles of dead skin? Have you ever saw what color does it get, when you accumulate it enough in your hand?
That's right! They are morbidly greay-ishly green. Exact hue of his skin. THE DUDE HAS SO MUCH DEAD SKIN - ppls kinda shed - ON HIS BOD IT MIGHT AS WELL BE 20% of his body weight.
The voice/s
Original VA for Keymaster goes for a top notch mix of freako and smug. He sounds both flirtatious and a biiit unstable, like a person who tries their best to hit you up but clearly haven't slept for like 3 days - the tone and mannerisms are all over the place, the voice itself is the perfect balance of semi-deep and whispery. I love this performance - it confuses you into whether or not can you trust the guy . An original performance and the one to be respected.
(sorry for the little snippet of another voice at the end - this let's player doesn't know how to shut up and I am too lazy to record it again from a different source)
Russian VA for Keymaster - who based his performance off the original one - DIDN'T HAVE TO GO THAT HARD?? Dat voice is deep as FUCK, thicc even, you can't call the voice "thicc" but this one just IS. The whispery part is gone absolutely, KM sounds kinda normal even, but holy shit did the VA turned it up to 100. This one is a favourite of mine, absolutely. I don't even give a shit about what he says, this is some ASMR shit. Absolute 0 wonder why he tricked most of russian let's players into actually trusting him. The only criticism I may ha
English VA went to the opposite direction of the spectrum, he went all fancy kind of dracula over the top performance, kinda like, WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY and while he does sound unhinged, there is no doubt he's a sicko actually. That, or just a theater kid. But no shame on this actor tho, just bc I don't really like this particular performance, doesn't mean it's TERRIBLE ok?
Basicly I made a chart:

Go with your preference of choice, my dudes.
The personality and motives
Holy fucking shit so hear me out.
I don't like him around the fact that he's a flity pretty possible serial killer.
I like him for the fact of being RESENTFUL about it, possibly hating it about himself.
When he killed the pastor it clearly was made on impulse, and he hated it so much that he locked himself - and therefore Edna - up. Despite the smarts he's clearly impulsive in nature - like getting off to drive a Dr's car ABSOLUTELY NOT KNOWING HOW TO and ONLY THINKING AFTER THE FACT, there is like nothing going on in this head.
I am not excusing the guy's actions, but there is a big chance he just went a full on Sam Gordon just with no curse involved.
...
HOLY SHIT IS KEY MASTER A BLACK MIRROR REFERENCE
THE FIVE KEYS SAM HAS TO FIND, THE SURROUNDINGS, THE "OOPS FUCK I DIDN'T MEAN TO KILL PPL I HAVE ISSUES I HATE MYSELF *commits a sewer side*" AND THE LOOKS?

Okay I am just overthinking it at this point. BUUUT THIS GAME WAS MADE IN GOOD OLD 2003 AND PRETTY BELOVED IN GERMANY AND WE HAVE WALKING REFERENCES LIKE PROFESSOR NOK SOOOOOOOO
...
So anyways.
The conculsion
Key Master is great not because he's your stereotypical mass murderer POS. There is a lot of unpack and a lot of empathy to be felt if you try to think on how come he ended up the way he did.
He actively hates himself and doesn't enjoy the way he is which is - unfortunately - preeeetty much deserved.
I will write more abt the dude later - especially on my fav theory that says he's not real

This is the "Why ABA and Paracelsus can feel horny" lore/theory post
The main Paracelsus deepdive post is a monster that I'm building in Google docs cos Tumblr can't handle it while it's WIP. This is a separate lore/theory monster I want to get out of my system first.
Here's my theory why ABA is consistently portrayed as being horny for Paracelsus from the start.
Translated excerpt from the Night of Knives Vol.2 audio drama CD, released in 2004 (20 IRL years ago):
Her being horny wasn't so much portrayed in-game in XX/AC+R really, prolly engine/sprite limitations and all; but then STRIVE happens and we get:
It's not just her being horny, and knowing exactly how to rizz Paracelsus up, and clearly has been doing this in her pocket dimension for a while now. PARACELSUS CAN FEEL HORNY NOW TOO!
And I stg I'm not joking...I think there's a legit lore reason for this.
Cos by the end of her arcade mode's flawless ending and according to the latest interviews with Daisuke-san and the game directors, it's explained that Paracelsus' form depends on what ABA thinks of Paracelsus, as well as her general mental stability.
ABA thought Paracelsus looked like a key, and he morphed into a key as part of his nature, which naturally makes him always fit to his wielder's preferences. In my deepdive I'll explain in more detail, but in addition to that, Slayer figured out that since ABA also saw Para as her hopeful "key to the future", Para's heart also began to change to basically fit her ideal of what he is.
So if ABA finds Paracelsus sexually attractive, and has made very obvious physical advances on him for years, then it follows that if she's horny for him, she can make Paras horny for her over time too, just like how Para is getting more key-like subconsciously just by being with her all this time.
I don't think this is entirely involuntary on Paracelsus end. I believe how much he wants to react to his wielder's emotions is still in his control...unless they become truly insane like with ABA's Jealous Rage being emotionally powerful enough to override Paras' ability to maintain his key form.
Also he reverts to his 'sharp teeth' design when he gets rizzed up, so he's losing his composure again and prolly holding back most of his...response. It's actually kinda telling cos Para used to just disassociate, ignore, scold ABA when she tries to make advances on him, so him actually responding now and to this degree is...interesting. And ABA seems very aware of this.
And for the bigger question of why ABA, an artificially created human would be created with the ability to feel horny...
Ok, crack theory time, it might be linked to why she apparently can summon an actual alchemical gate just whenever she wants, and even use it as her private pad. ABA doesn't just wanna rizz Paracelsus up as a key, she wants him in a human body since the start too.
Y'all remember Ghostbusters, and what the Gatekeeper and the Keymaster have to do to open the gate...?
#guilty gear strive#paracelsus guilty gear#my theory#I needed a quick diversion#my post#long post#surprise ghostbusters#nothing really alchemy related but the whole Gatekeeper and Keymaster 'joining' thing is just...right...there#a.b.a guilty gear#aba guilty gear#half-crack theory

PLEASE explain ur shin DID thoughts I wanna know so bad
boy am i glad you asked (LONG POST)
prefacing by saying the sou DID headcanon is very special to me to the point that i talk about it as if it is canon. i know it is not canon. i'm not arguing that this is what these moments mean, i'm arguing this is an interpretation that i really enjoy, and this interpretation of sou's character speaks to the DID experience Unnervingly well.
i use sou & shin interchangebly, they are parts of the same person, but generally i say sou for during the death game and shin for before.
so. first.
the important bit — sou's dissociation from shin tsukimi
during his first trial, shin tsukimi is given the winning percentages. there he learns that 'shin tsukimi' cannot survive the death game.
to escape shin tsukimi's weakness and inevitable death, shin abandons him, and instead takes on the name and certain characteristics of midori, to build a new self — sou hiyori. he disowns his identity as shin tsukimi to psychologically escape from his fate, so that he can psychologically survive in this moment and keep living.
a part of DID is the repression and disowning of the weak and hurting parts of you, and in turn outwardly becoming & functioning as someone or something else that can survive.
sou very literally dissociates from the weak parts of his identity and becomes & functions as someone else to survive.
and that's the absolute basis of the headcanon. turn back now if you want to. the rest is me slowly losing my sanity.
me slowly losing my sanity
so. listen. here's the thing. theres a lot more in sous behaviour that you could interpret as DID if you know where to look.
it's not quite as simple as "there are two of him: shin tsukimi (who was weak, easily manipulated, and incredibly scared) and sou hiyori (who is not that)". there are quite a few more moving parts to this guy, and also a lot of grey areas where his identity breaks down and develops over the course of the game.
the sou we first meet is timid, but not particularly vulnerable: polite, but observant. you get the vibe he is silently taking note of everything you do, because he is. during the first main game, he takes control of the discussion by claiming to be the Keymaster, both securing his survival, and giving himself a level of control over the discussions.
when the information he found on the laptop and his attempts to throw suspicion on Sara causes everyone to doubt him, he begins to panic. he brings up the moment Nao hit him - something that must have been triggering to him, considering what defines 'sou hiyori' is that he is not weak like shin tsukimi is.
i like to think in this moment a subconcious part of him realises that the present sou hiyori is not removed enough from shin tsukimi to be free of danger. despite his distance, he's weak enough to be attacked - he could have been killed, and now he's at the mercy of the masses.
his protective parts and mechanisms need to kick in at 200%. so they do.
under the pressure sou snaps and goes into a a very aggressive protector part. sou projects outwards his vulnerability complex, calling everybody else 'weaklings' who are going to die (reinforcing his dissociation from shin tsukimi). he suddenly openly rejects the value of trust and human cooperation, in an attempt to make himself seem untouchable and entirely in control.
section: sou's protector part
i love this guy so i marked out a section just to break down his protective mechanisms. this is a direct continuation from the paragraph i just ended.
after his first instance in the first main game, sou's protector part (easily spotted by his fucking mastermind persona) appears multiple times to cover up moments of vulnerability. it makes him out to be a liar, but it also makes him seem incredibly calculating and dangerous, which works just fine for him.
during the token trade game, sou 'fakes' amnesia to avoid being singled out for his actions during the first main game. he reverts back to his polite & timid demeanour for a portion of the chapter, and also sleeps for a large portion of it (due to his sickness). but to allow himself this leeway (either to play up or let slip his weakness) he employs protective mechanisms: he enthusiastically tells Sara that his memory loss was a lie, and that he's been playing them all for fools. he intentionally gives her the impression that every moment of weakness he has let slip or otherwise is part of an elaborate plot.
whether this is purely for the sake of managing how the person he fears most percieves him, or because in this part he is genuinely so disconnected from his vulnerable parts and weakness that he refuses to acknowledge it was real, is up to interpretation to me. but i do love how many layers of lies and contradiction he symbolises.
(i choose to believe his amnesia was a genuine moment of vulnerability, because the scene makes me So Happy if i read it as a vulnerable part slipping through the cracks, who's entirely disconnected from the stressful events of the main game and is genuinely terrified. i like to think his later claim it was a lie was because he could not risk Sara genuinely witnessing his repressed weakness that he swore he disowned at the door. but i digress)
he has a similar 'moment of weakness' during the second main game, where he makes it more explicit that he is not necessarily him telling the truth when he says his earlier weakness was a lie. he relies on other's confusion and the fact people think he is one step ahead of them to protect himself.
he continues to employ his mastermind persona even after the shin tsukimi reveal - although its effect is somewhat lost now that everybody knows that he has vulnerable parts (and people he loves) to protect, and that his persona exists for their sake, not because it's his true personality.
mfw when the ego protection mechanism crumbles because i was vulnerable once and now my protector part hates me.
section: shadow sou
i was going to immediately follow onto shinai and what we can learn from him, but i want to clarify shadow sou first.
the long and short of it is i think he's the closest thing we have to a midori introject. while you could argue sou hiyori has introjected traits (which he most certainly does: he takes his name for christ's sake), i think shadow sou most explicitly takes after him, especially if you read soushin as an emotionally abusive relationship.
(lingo: what is an introject? an introject is an alter who represents internalised traits and figures. for example, if you had a personality who treated you like your mother treated you, and reinforces the beliefs you internalised from her, that would be an introject of your mother. they do not have to be accurate to the real person's personality; they only echo how you saw and internalised them.)
shadow sou speaks with sou like an familiar but condescending friend, comments on sou no longer being shin, and exists to reinforce shin's feeling of weakness. midori encourages shin to become the person you want to be; shadow sou is the one to pressure shin into becoming someone else. midori is a 'scary friend' of shin's, shadow sou physically frightens and attacks shin during his moment of panic.
as far as we know, we never meet shadow sou from Sara's point of view, so i interpret him as a more internal alter. there's a lot to play off with sou's / shin's / shadow sou's relationship: i think they are soooo cute. i just wanted to point out the similarities between him and midori.
section: shinaiiiiiiii: what can he tell us?
ok yaay onto shinai. although not strictly a version of sou (not his repressed weak personality, not his polite but wary personality, not his masterminding ego protection personality, and not his internal shadow self), because he is a computer program, he does give us a certain perspective on who sou used to be.
disclaimer: we know shinai was trained by midori's love poetry, and thus you can argue his personality could be slightly altered to be more suited to midori's purposes. for the sake of this section we will take things with a grain of salt: it's what shinai can suggest about shin, not tell.
shinai gives us the impression that shin tsukimi was polite, had somewhat low self esteem, and was conflicted on midori: on one hand, he scared him a lot, but on the other, he considered him close, and they spent a lot of time together.
during the maple boss fight, shinai sobs for midori to help him. i get the impression that despite being afraid of him, shin still relied on midori for security and reassurance (sou's lantern dialogue to corroborate).
my friend suggested that shinai's / sou's conflicting accounts (with part of him being afraid of midori, and the other seeking assurance from him) could in itself imply that shin (even before the game even began) is made up of two alters with opposing attachment styles. i dont disagree.
sou vs the shinai test data
this one will be short i promise.
i really like sou's morbid interest in the shinai test data. and i know the joke is that it's love poetry and sou is embarassed and repulsed by how midori saw him, especially now that he knows how cruel midori can be, but the scene also spoke to me as a dissociative person; there is nothing more viscerally uncomfortable than learning about things you did as a different personality. it messes with your brain, because it was you, but it also wasn't you - it can't be you, you don't remember it, and it's not the kind of thing you would do, but you did - and so your dissociative rejection signals go absolutely insane. so i like this tiny scene for personal reasons.
and thatse it (i think). i think i said it all.
tl;dr:
this is my headcanon :33 or well. a graphic i made a few months ago as i was solidifying the headcanon. some minor things ive changed my opinion on / perception of since but it gets the idea across.
that said i fully support any other interpreted sou hiyori systems. go fuckin wild. i spoke to a friend a bit ago about their personal DID sou take and i had so much fun.
thank you for hearing me out
#kostik speaks#i kid you not i spent four hours writing this in one sitting in some sort of autism induced hyperfixation haze#maybe five#i apologise if any of it is completely incoherent#ive been putting off writing this for a while because i didnt know where to start but! guess this is my best shot#yttd#your turn to die#kimi ga shine#sou hiyori#shin tsukimi#thank you for asking btw im aware you have before i promise i didnt ignore you this is just. a huge all encompassing hc to explain for me#yaay#time to collapse

I know the reason people compare Kokichi and Shin is that they're both huge liars but I really don't think they're that similar beyond that. I thought I'd look into this a little, I haven't watched anything to do with danganronpa v3 in a while though so sorry if I get anything wrong.
Spoiler warning for danganronpa v3 and your turn to die
From the moment you're introduced to Kokichi, it's kind of made obvious that he's going to be at the very least a hindrance to the rest of the cast, with the whole ultimate supreme leader thing and the fact he's established as being an annoying little brat right off the bat. Depending on how much you like danganronpa you can either see this as a big mistake because it's predictable or a genius writing choice because you don't expect him to be an actual threat (unless you've played the other games in which weird evil twinks being the antagonists are kind of a pattern).
Speaking of weird evil twinks, Shin is the first character you meet in the game, albeit a mysterious shadowy version of him, but if you have common sense you can definitely make the link between the two once you're actually introduced to him. So you're pretty much suspicious of him already, but the game keeps putting you in situations where you have to be alone with him which puts you on edge, except nothing actually happens. Yeah there are a few moments where he gives you a little jumpscare or says something slightly weird but it's glossed over pretty quickly and never mentioned again as far as I can remember. It's pretty obvious that Sara and the rest of the cast aren't suspicious of him, and he's even being a big help to everyone by trying to find a way into the laptop, so you start to trust him as well since he's not doing anything wrong. And then the main game begins and you are immediately back to being suspicious of him again when he claims to be the keymaster.
Personally, I think Shin's introduction is a lot better than Kokichi's, but that could just be because I'm biased or I'm misremembering something. I don't think Kokichi is a bad antagonist necessarily, in fact I think the antagonists are one of the series' strong points, I just think he's a little predictable especially after having an antagonist like Nagito. Speaking of Nagito, I think his introduction is a lot more similar to Shin's rather than Kokichi's since he is also the first character you meet in the game and kind of hang around with for most of the first chapter. People do compare Nagito and Shin as well, which I completely disagree with too but that can be it's whole own post.
Anyway, back to the reason people actually compare them. The lying.
Unlike Shin, Kokichi's reason for lying seems to just be that he's a compulsive liar, and a really bad one at that. He says ridiculous things and then once you question him about it he immediately gives up and tells you it was all a lie. Is this bad writing? I have no idea. But I do know that this absolutely nothing like how Shin reacts when you catch him in a lie.
Shin actually attempts to be a decent liar, and it works a lot of the time as well, everyone believes him when he says he's the keymaster because he hasn't really done anything that suspicious up to this point so they have no reason to doubt him. Something I forgot to mention about Kokichi is that no one believes him, ever. Even when he's telling the truth. It's sort of a boy who cried wolf situation and this isn't the case with Shin. Kanna believes him because she's naive and she wants to believe in the best in people, which makes everyone a little less wary of him because "Well Kanna is on our side so surely she'd tell us if he was up to something". This just leads to Kanna going along with his plans (albeit usually being tricked) which is actually kind of funny when you think about it.
Something kind of similar to this happens with Kokichi and Gonta but nobody falls for it because they all know Gonta isn't the brightest and Kokichi is just going to take advantage of that. Everyone fucking hates this guy as well, did I mention that? Yeah everyone actively despises him and prays for his downfall. The only person who actually liked him was Gonta and he quite literally indirectly killed him. But I'm getting off track.
Shin's reason for lying is actually explained, he's extremely paranoid and knows that his chance of survival is basically nothing, he lies and manipulates others because he thinks that's the only way he can survive the death game. Meanwhile, Kokichi seemingly does it just for fun, or at least that's what he wants you to believe.
Another thing that's similar between the two is that they're both putting on persona's, but the thing with Kokichi is that it's left completely ambiguous where the real Kokichi ends and his persona begins. This is one of the things I actually like about Kokichi's character, it's pretty interesting if you think about it, I also think they did a very good job at making him unlikable but that proves to be a massive problem later on (I'll get to that soon). With Shin, we know what the real Shin was like from the AI, the flashbacks and the way he acts at the beginning of the game. He's kind and awkward and overall just a fairly normal guy, which is how he acts at the beginning of the game. You're tricked into thinking how he acted at the start was all a lie but in reality it's how he acts afterwards that is the persona he puts on. It's hard to say whether I like Kokichi or Shin more in this category because I think they're both intriguing in their own ways but I just like Shin and your turn to die better as a whole so it's no surprise I might be a little biased.
Ok, this is the part where I start getting really mad and going on a massive rant about how much I hate this. Their deaths.
Kokichi's death is just absolutely awful. Not the death itself necessarily because I actually like the thing that they did with tricking people into thinking it was Kaito who died, but what it means for Kokichi as a character. We are basically told that Kokichi has been the good guy all along despite all of the horrible shit he did (including being indirectly responsible for the deaths of two people) and we're supposed to feel bad for him. I don't feel bad for this guy and I'm glad he's dead. What the fuck does being an annoying little bitch and constantly lying to others have to do with trying to stop the killing game?? It literally did nothing! This isn't even a "Despite how hard he tried he still failed" moment. Kokichi isn't a fucking idiot he would know that that obviously would never work!! Am i missing something?? Am i misremembering this entire game?? How does being crushed in a hydraulic press help anyone?? I am just completely baffled by this. If anyone has an actual explanation for this can you please tell me why he did this?
Ok, now let's talk about Shin's death, which in my opinion is amazing (especially compared to whatever the hell that was). The game never tries to excuse all of the shitty things he does, but no one is this game (out of the participants) is truly a bad person. Sure some of them are jerks at times and do selfish things but that's just because they're people. It's no secret that danganronpa is a very over the top and unrealistic series, and that's not really a bad thing but your turn to die is a lot more grounded in reality in terms of the way the characters are written so you can't really compare the two. Also, in danganronpa the main cast is working against each other, in your turn to die they're working together. So obviously there are gonna be a lot more horrible people in danganronpa than in yttd because you can't feel bad for all of them when they're murdering each other.
Ok I went off on a tangent, now let's actually talk about Shin's death. Shin's death is arguably one of the most impactful in the whole game, because he is one of the most important characters. Even as he's practically sacrificing himself for Kanna he still doesn't want to die and tries to escape, which obviously ends horribly for him but it's incredibly realistic. No danganronpa, not everyone is going to accept their death and sacrifice themselves for a group of people who (let's be honest) are strangers. Even when he's bleeding out he still manages to make his way to the rubble room which just shows his sheer determination despite knowing he's going to die. His final gift to Sara isn't anything big, he didn't try to end the death game, but he gave her the thing she needed to get back up again after she thought all hope was lost.
I think that's just about everything I wanted to go over. Like I said I haven't watched a v3 playthrough in ages so I could be completely wrong and i'm also not a professional in writing. I just thought this was a weird phenomenon and I wanted to show just how actually different they are. Anyways, I'd like to hear your opinions and whether you disagree or agree with anything I said. Thanks.

Terror Dog analysis/headcanons just because:
(I posted these on my Discord a while ago but I figured I’d share them here too)
I was thinking about how strange it is that Vins Clortho seems so chill around Egon and Janine while possessing Louis. He cooperates with Egon and lets himself be scanned, even giving exposition about Gozer's history. When Peck comes to shut down the containment unit, Vins wait for him rather than doing it himself. Why is he so docile around his human enemies when he could simply kill them? Well, I have my own personal theory/interpretation:
I think that Gozer is only supposed to destroy worlds that are already on the brink of death. They are supposed to be an act of mercy and most of the races they traveled to welcomed them with open arms. That's also why Gozer lets them choose the form of the Destructor. This reflects in the Terror Dogs behavior. Vins thinks all the people about him are destined to die and want to die. So he's fine just hanging out with them until their time comes, almost like a cat (or dog) toying with its prey.
The trouble is that Earth isn't supposed to be destroyed yet. Shandor summoned Gozer too soon. Gozer and the Terror Dogs weren't prepared for humans to fight back, and it might be the first time mortals ever defied them so they aren't used to it.
(I also have a theory that the Gatekeeper and Keymaster have their senses dulled when possessing people, which is why they have some trouble locating and identifying each other. The effort of forcing all their cosmic energy into such small, weak vessels requires some sacrifice.)
We can see in Afterlife, Gozer and the Dogs have learned from their last attempt to end the world and take more direct action. While possessing Gary, Vinz destroys the proton packs around the pit of souls. He also reunites with Zuul much quicker this time. Gozer themself seems rather enthusiastic to face the Ghostbusters again too. This could just be me reading into things too much, but I like to think Gozer sees them as a challenge and enjoys fighting them.
Another thing I find interesting is that the Keymaster & Gatekeepers, ahem "ritual" to summon Gozer may be partially based on alchemy. The "Rebis" is the end product of an alchemist's magnum opus. A perfect combination of male and female traits to create "the divine hermaphrodite". I believe this is also related to the philosopher's stone and eternal life (ironic with Gozer being the god of death & destruction). There's an old alchemical illustration depicting this on the first page of Tobin's Spirit Guide too, if I remember correctly.
Finally, there's an interesting update to the Terror Dog's design in Afterlife with the addition of spurs on the back of their hind feet. It makes me wonder if these are defense against other creatures that could sneak up behind them. Could it be that there are even more powerful monsters that prey on them? Scary to think about…

What Would a Third Edna & Harvey Game Look Like?
According to me. There's unfortunately no chance at an official third game, but I have an imagination and there is a story to be told still. Strap in for a long post featuring my silly art.
Spoilers for Edna & Harvey: The Breakout and Harvey's New Eyes !!
Establishing Canon Real Quick
Like how the “Listen to Harvey” ending in The Breakout became the canon for Harvey’s New Eyes, the “Contradict” ending is the canon to set up EH3. Not only is it the most popular ending, it’s also the ending that would give a third game the most room to flourish.
On another note, the end of HNE claims that Edna and Garret are just hallucinations or projections of Lilli’s mind, but this creates a lot of plotholes. It wouldn’t make sense for Lilli to have received all this specific information from ‘nowhere.’ Things like the firecrackers, the diary, Edna’s hideout, the owl whistle, the truth serum, the advice for defeating the hypnosis, and more, all of which are proven to be true and backed by reality, are too concrete in the story to be convincingly fake. It honestly makes more sense for Dr. Marcel to have gotten into Lilli’s head and manipulated her than for Edna and Garret to be imaginary. He’s an ‘expert of psychology’ after all, and it’s clear that Lilli’s in a very fragile state of mind after everything that happened considering she was willing to stab Dr. Marcel when she wasn’t that aggressive before.
Therefore, rather than stabbing or listening to Dr. Marcel, Lilli snaps and runs away from the asylum, leaving the doctor alive and Edna and Garret, who are real people, behind.
THE STORY
So Lilli runs off screaming and ends up back in the town, the knife and wool from earlier still in her inventory, and she’s not exactly in a good position: she can’t exactly go back to the convent, after all. Though before she has time to consider what to do, a dinky little car stops at the sight of her. The driver steps out and– guess who! It’s Stiesel.
The reason Stiesel and Hulgor (split up/not together) weren’t in HNE was because they’d been suspended from their asylum duties and assigned a different task by the doctor, that being to track down the rest of the escapees and bring them back to the asylum. Hoti and Moti were located, but they seemed to be doing fine and were left alone. Aluman, Edna, and Keymaster were not located considering Aluman ascended to a being of pure energy (and those can be kind of hard to track), Edna joined the monastery, and the Keymaster disappeared after falling from the church balcony.
That being said, Stiesel was driving back to the asylum after receiving the call that Edna was found, stopping out of pure concern for the unsupervised little girl with a knife wandering the dark town at like 3am. The dialogue system would be the same as in HNE, but Lilli would be able to say more than a syllable or two. The main irony is that all of her screaming from the “Contradict” ending left her voice so hoarse that she still can’t say too much, limited to maybe a sentence or two. She tells Stiesel what happened with the hypnosis dolls and he’s… a little shocked at the news. Since he’s been on search duty all this time, he hasn’t been in the asylum to catch up on current events, so Stisel wasn’t exactly in the loop for all of this. He leaves his car running and puts his coat in the back seat, telling Lilli to sleep for a bit while he ‘takes care of business quickly’ and marches towards a horrifying-looking abandoned house: Edna’s old house. Except Stiesel is a bit of a coward and doesn’t want to go alone, so he pulls a 180 and says something along the lines of “it’d be irresponsible to leave a little girl by herself at night– you should stick with me, okay?”
Exploring the house, Lilli enters the basement and finds– oh, guess who it is now! Crouched by the furnace is The Keymaster with a homemade splint on his poorly healed leg. They’re both not sure what to really make of each other. Lilli recognizes the asylum uniform from her encounter with Petra and The Keymaster recognizes the convent uniform from his upbringing in the monastery. They naturally have some questions for each other, but Stiesel conveniently comes down the stairs to interrupt the Q&A. He’s both excited and freaked out. Bringing back the escapee is his ticket for no longer being suspended from asylum duty, but that involves putting The Keymaster in his dinky little car and making it back to the asylum in the first place.
take a look at this trio
The first puzzle of the game would be Lilli finding a way to get The Keymaster some crutches. Stiesel isn’t going to let Keymaster lean on him for support, and he unfortunately understands that he (and Lilli technically) are a bit short to carry an unconscious man up a flight of stairs and into a car. So while Stiesel and Keymaster idly chat/bicker back and forth, Lilli uses the old furniture to craft a pair of crutches in classic Edna and Harvey puzzle fashion. In her search for materials, she ends up finding a relatively controversial photograph posted to the inside of Mattis’s old bunk and takes it down to the two new unstable adult figures in her life for clarification. They confirm that Edna is very much real through stories of her antics and this combined with the picture are enough to make Lilli doubt Edna’s non-existence.
Once the crutches are made, the three of them mull over the few options they have available to them. They could go back to the asylum as Dr. Marcel would intend (Stiesel as a guard and Keymaster/Lilli as patients), dawn new identities to run away from Marcel forever, or attempt to take down the asylum once and for all. And because it’s an adventure game, the choice is very obvious.
There is more than one story to tell now, more than one perspective to play through. Gameplay can be split between Lilli’s POV outside to Garret’s POV inside, and the completion of puzzles on either side affects the state of the other, some completely dependent on the opposite POV, until the plots collide and the two perspectives meet again near the end. How cool is that?!
The reason Garret is the playable character instead of Edna is because Dr. Marcel has locked the latter back in her tower cell (with a reinforced vent) and she’s got a limited range of influence now. Garret, on the other hand, can move relatively unrestricted.
Through his grip on law enforcement, Dr. Marcel was able to twist the story of the dedicated undercover agent into one of a delusional junior detective digging for controversy that doesn’t exist, and Garret was admitted into the asylum to keep him out of the way. Both him and Edna are being subjected to some aggressive ‘character correction’ treatments as Marcel attempts to rework the hypnosis therapy. Most of the Harvey dolls are burned up in the furnaces, but the more ‘put together’ ones are kept for the future of the project, including the real Harvey thankfully. So Garret has a lot to do without a lot of time to do it! Find Harvey, stop the doctor, free Edna, regain his (and Edna’s) fading memories, get in contact with Lilli, keep a low profile, and a handful of other nonsense tasks.
Sooo...
A classic Edna & Harvey adventure of absurdity, twisted humor, and extreme trauma. Can you tell I put way too much thought into this.
here’s everyone lined up together all cutie.
I might post more about EH3 later on because I couldn't seamlessly fit information/roles of the other characters in this already lengthy post 😳

🌟💖🤝🗝️🪓👔🃏🍀💭🪆🥦 (sorry for such a big ask, I’m very curious D: )
Holy moly. It is a lot and post will be looooong, but I am up for the challenge
🌟Who is your favorite yttd character?
Shin. He is my hiperfixation from yttd, (un)fortunately and has been for so long now. He just fits with all the other characters that are my favourite perfectly. He is mean, angry, scared, is repressing his true emotions, really cares for others he loves and is pretty... And at the beginning I found him so annoying. My type is really specific, I guess
💖Which character in yttd do you think you would be friends with?
Nao, Reko and Anzu, I think! I, maybe, would also be able to befriend Kanna and Gin. I just think they are so so soooo cool (especially Reko) and it is kinda my wishful thinking that I would be friends with them.
We have a lot in common! I am an artist, love music, jesters, cats and, uhhh, buckets? Lol, a match made in heaven, am I right or am I right?
🤝Which character in yttd would you trust the most?
Mishima. He just looks like a really reliable adult that I can trust. He is a little eccentric, but I love weird friends. He showed in the game he is a really good person and wants others to find comfort in him. But also I think maybe Reko. She also is really reliable and is really good with kids. Really gentle but also sharp
🗝Do you think you would pass your first trial?
I like to think that yes. But it depends on what my First Trial would look like tbh
If I was with one of the ones I love and care about, like Sara and Kanna were, then I am positive we would live. We would work together and get out. And if I was in one similar to Q-taro's or Shin's then I would also survive. The games were individual and, I think, easy enough
If I was in a game like Keiji had or like Alice, where I would be with someone that holds a grudge/I am dependent on the someone I am with, then it really depends on the person if I live or not...
Dunno if I would survive any of the Trials of the Dummies, If I'm being honest. They look bad and we don't really know much about them
🪓If you could design a first trial, what would you do?
I am really not sure. I usually take inspiration from different death games like Alice in Borderland, Saw, Squid games or any other thing where people must try to survive. BUT. I also have my Purgatory Trials au and I have some fanfic ideas from AiB so I can cheat a little and say some here (not a lot)
One is a Trial of Aletheia — participants make groups (4 people) and have to say truths about themselves. If the secrets are bigger then there is more points. If someone lies or tells half-truth, then points are taken away. If the points limit isn't met in 30/45 minutes then the whole group dies
Other ideas are just kid games, Hide and Seek where participants must hide from the Seekers but also find some objects. Rock, Paper, Scissors as one of the easiest but also really random. Or a game of Wolves and Sheep (or Mafia) with Wolves attacking at night and Sheep must figure out who are the Wolves before all of them die.
I know, not really original, but sometimes easy is key for interesting takes
👔Who is your favorite floormaster?
I think Miley. I really like her redesign and role in the game. I also didn't like her that much at the beginning, but with time I fell in love with this character. I can't wait to see what she will do in the final! Because I am sure we will see her again
Honorable mention: Maple. She isn't a Floormaster but I love her dearly. She deserves the best and she really was something interesting and nice in chapter 3
🃏Which card would you most want to have in a Main Game?
Keymaster I think is the most save cad, even if it is really weird to say. Then they can't pick me as all of them will die. The situation isn't comfortable as there is a chance they won't believe it but usually people decide to not play with fire. So Keymaster is the immunity in the game
Sacrifice is horrible because you have to be picked to survive and then only you and the one other person are safe. Sage and Commoners are safe choices to pick to die. Maybe as the Sage you know who the Keymaster is, but they still can die. With commoners is the same, they just don't have anything important going on with their roles
🍀What do you think your win % would be?
Something below 10% for sure. I would die so hard during Attractions. Like, it is possible I survive but also things happen, you know?
💭What is your favorite yttd AU idea?
I will be really self centric with this one but I really like my Your Turn To Live. It is nothing revolutionary or wow, I know there are so many aus like that, because it is simple and good. I just love the idea of some guys escaping and trying to live on. Mine favourite is Logic Route Escape with Shin, Sara, Gin and Keiji. But I love also seeing ones with Kanna and Reko/Alice
🪆If you could replace your limbs with doll parts like Sou, would you?
It would be really tempting as I am not really loving my body. But in the end, I think I would not if it was not necessary
🥦What name did you give Midori? Or did you keep it the same?
I stayed with the original, Midori. But while playing with @avopumpkin we decided to name him Chuj — a polish word for "Dick" but it can also be translated as "piece of shit". It was splendid and really funny for us lol
#thank you for the ask <333#i am happy you were curious about my opinions!#it really made me happy#ask goldyluna#your turn to die#yttd

Pokemon Trainer Shin would like to battle!
I hinted at this before, but I have an extensive, complex, and very intricate YTTD Pokemon au that I've been working on for well over a year. I might post about it occasionally, and depending on if anyone's interested, I'll do more and answer your questions. Now without further ado, here are my picks for Shin's Pokemon team.
Starting with...
Miss Voir the Gardevoir

(TCG Artwork by Yu Nishida)
A gift from his mother and the first pokemon on Shin's team. She's rather nervous, but always ensures Shin's safety, as its in her nature and his mother requested it of her. She loves her trainer dearly, as they grew up together.
Aside from the obvious fact that Gardevoir looks fairly similar to Shin, I chose this pokemon to help represent his kind and softer side. Gardevoir are said to protect their trainers with their life, doing whatever necessary to ensure the trainer's safety. I wonder who that sounds like? Additionally, aside from being so refined, Gardevoir are intelligent and poweful pokemon. They may appear dainty and unassuming, but watch out! They can be a real threat when there's danger!
Commodore the Metagross

(TCG Art Competition Entry by Souichirou Gunjima)
Received as a gift from Hiyori, who decided to help Shin overpower his rival. It's very strong headed and calculated, and has an intense rivalry with *******. Shin wonders if it's the nature of how he received it that sparked their competition.
This one is a bit of an interesting pick, but will make more sense the more you know about my au. Metagross are said to have more intelligence than that of a supercomputer, and well, Shin is associated with computers along with his high intelligence. It's said that Metagross use this to critically analyze their opponents and take them out in the most efficient (and possibly cruel) way possible. If it knows it can't succeed, it's willing to even take itself out if that's the only way for victory. Shin, similarly, calculates his every move in the death game, and I don't think I need to explain the rest on why this fits.
Illuso the Zoroark

(TCG Artwork by kawayoo)
Illuso hides himself in illusions and deceit, although in reality he was a timid Zorua. After meeting Shin and accompanying him on his journey, Illuso's learned how to become more brave and outspoken. Still somewhat jumpy, Illuso delights in the tricks it pulls, as does Shin.
Zoroark is literally THE Illusion pokemon, known for putting up facades and tricking others with it's ability to hide behind illusions. Shin already exemplifies this behavior as he hides behind the facade of Sou Hiyori in the death game. Young Zorua often hide themselves behind illusions to ensure their safety, as most are very timid and weak. This pick also makes sense for another reason in my au that might come up later.
Lime the Klefki

(Fanart by Naoki Eguchi)
Shin doesn't really remember catching Lime. One day while traveling, he heard the distinct sound of jingling keys following him. After confronting it, he decided to let it join his team by giving it the key to his house. It's very sweet and likes to hang onto his belt loops. It has even tried to take the key from around his neck. He ended up making a copy of it so Lime wouldn't steal it in his sleep, and although it has no use, Lime treasures it the most.
Okay come on. The Key pokemon. Shin claiming to be the Keymaster. This one is so good. Aside from this, the steel fairy typing is very good as it's a very defensive, and Klefki is known for being a relatively good prankster pokemon in competitive. For those who don't know, prankster is an ability that allows the pokemon to move first when using moves that don't do damage, such as Spikes (sets up spikes on the opponent's field) or Calm Mind (Boosts special attack and defense). Shin tends to try and make the first move and plan ahead, setting up small advantages for himself in works of a bigger goal (such as the sacrifice card placement and his whole ordeal with getting Kanna to work with him).
Coldweather the Glaceon

(TCG Artwork by Gemi)
Originally, Shin had been planning on evolving his Eevee into Umbreon. Though when a trip to get a gift for Kanna goes awfully bad, his Eevee spontaneously evolves into Glaceon in order to defend her trainer. Coldweather has a very calm and collected exterior, though she still loves to cuddle and play with Shin like if she were still a little Eevee. Shin is grateful for her and often ends up being the victim of her affectionate onslaught, and he appreciates her a lot. Even if he ends up having to wear 3 sweaters to hug her.
Shin is said to get cold easily, and aside from this he's known to be incredibly weak. The Ice type is notorious for being a weak typing despite having a lot of great pokemon, so I thought it would be good to pair these two up. Additionally, the plan for Umbreon was to have it represent his whole connection to the moon and the dynamic of the sun and moon he has with Hiyori. Though after thinking it over, I thought it might be interesting to have Shin go through some trial and have one of his pokemon affected by it.
Porygon-Z

(TCG Artwork by Tomokazu Komiya)
The first pokemon Hiyori gifted to Shin. Originally Porygon was fairly neutral to Shin, acting much like a scared cat and hiding behind him when Hiyori was in the room. After evolving, Porygon2 began to show much affection and adoration towards its trainer, as it now understood speech and emotion. It helped Shin aid Hiyori in the strange research project Hiyori recruited Shin for. Undergoing many strange and harmful "training" it finally evolved into Porygon-Z. However this evolution put a strain on the relationship between the two, as Shin refused to acknowledge the corrupted mess that his beloved pokemon became. Porygon-Z was having trouble adjusting to its mutated body, but soon after began to seek the affection of its trainer once more. Shin refuses to use it, and has abandoned the idea of ever naming it.
So this one is another one that will make more sense the more you know about my au. Again, lots of complex and intricate lore. I chose Porygon to best represent Shin and his relationship with Hiyori, specifically before the death game. Porygon is a completely artificial pokemon, made up of code and only evolves when given a disk containing data. Obviously this ties in well with Shin, who learned to code thanks to Hiyori. I like to think its final evolution represents Shin's trauma and how Hiyori affected him, as it's not wrong to say that he definitely left a deep impact on Shin. Poyrgon-Z is obtained by evolving it from Porygon2 using the dubious disk, a disk containing corrupted and malicious data. You can draw the similarities (Will Shin ever reconcile with it? Well, maybe I'll explain how if anyone is curious).
Thanks for reading my rant, and if you couldn't tell, pokemon is one of my main hyperfixations. I hope you enjoyed my picks, and I'm curious to see what you think.

I'm the keymaster to most people. Yes the name does come matrix TV character. I used to hate it, but now I embrace it. No, I don't particularly care what you think of it.
I was born in 1970’s, which makes me old enough. I expect my age number to go up every year, as it has for most of my life.
I have been into BDSM/Kink in one form or another for most of my adult life and I think even before coming of age I was intrigued by many of its concepts in a way. I always had a bit of an obsession with mind control/possession and humans not being human.
I've lived in both the Uk and Switzerland but now live in nsw Australia. I have been active in the local BDSM/Kink scenes in all countries, having organised events and hosted munches in both.
I am looking for a submissive/slave lover and romantic partner.
My BDSM/Kink interests are quite varied and I am always open to try new things. I do have a particular penchant for humiliation, degradation, objectification and dehumanisation (as is no doubt apparent from my blog posts). Transformation, brainwashing, hypnosis and sensory deprivation are also of particular interest.
I have very few taboos and will happily discuss pretty much anything. My only real limits are scat and vomit - mainly because of the mess and smell.
I don't judge anyone for their kinks, unless that so-called kink is blatantly immoral or unethical (i.e. pedophilia, necrophilia etc.).
I prefer to take a holistic approach to sex and BDSM. I believe the whole body can be erogenous and not just the sex organs. The mind is just as important as the body.
Consent is not only essential, I find it highly erotic. When someone consents to an act that is intimate, or taboo, that almost gives me as big a thrill than the actual act itself.
I love to chat with people and I'm generally happy to interact with anyone as long as you're respectful and not an arsehole.
If you're a mysogynist, abuser, racist, homophobe, transphobe or any other kind of bigot, you're not welcome here. If you're trying pass your bigotry or abusive nature off as a kink, you're not welcome here.
Feel free to drop me a message, or ask a question. Anything you write to me in chat is kept private between us, unless otherwise agreed.
What is your sexuality?
I am hetero. That means I am basically straight but I’m not against playing with someone who isn’t female.
Do you practise BDSM with men?
No
Do you like sissies?
Sometimes. I wouldn’t say it was a particular interest of mine though.
Are you looking for a sub/slave/pet?
I’m always open to it for the right person.
Can I be your sub/slave/pet?
Perhaps, but not until I have got to know you first. Let's chat.
Can I send you photos of myself?
Sure - I love to see what you look like. That said, I do not want dick pics.
Will you demand photos from me if I chat with you?
No. Whilst of course I'd love to see you, I am more than happy to wait until you want to show yourself to me. Honestly, that is far sexier and more satisfying.
