I just watched Superman and holyshit it was good.

-Spoilers below-

It’s actually my first Superman movie (I don’t count BVS) and I’ve just been getting into the comics so I didn’t know much going in.

Didn’t impede my enjoyment at all.

Krypto was a fucking menace and I would die for him he is truly the bestest boy.

Lois was amazing you could just see her switch from girlfriend to reporter in real time when she was interviewing Superman.

It was a really good scene that showcased who both of them are at their core. How different they both are but also how they work so well together.

Perry going how long have those two been hooking up took me out you guys aren’t subtle at all.

Justice Gang was hilarious Guy Gardener (?) was incredible but oh that wig was tragic. I loved seeing Superman team up with other heroes and such.

But oh man Mr Terrific stole every scene he was in. What a funny and lovely guy. I really liked his jacket and just how he was done with everyone’s bullshit but still came in clutch.

Frankly he should’ve been the one to swear I think he deserved that.

And of course the true man of the hour who came in clutch every-time, truly our unsung hero, Jimmy Olsen. That man’s rizz single-handedly saved the world.

I loved seeing him and Lois handle the reporter side of all of this. And I kinda ship him and Evie not gonna lie like I think they could be cute together.

And Superman…Ohhhh Superman.

If you know me you’ll know I absolutely am so soft for kind gentle people who want the best for the world despite the world giving them shit for it.

Seeing Clark all bloody, beaten and still trying to help people aghhh. Getting his arse kicked and still making sure that baby was safe.

Luthor has absolutely slandered his name and all Clark cares about is where his dog is.

They got him so right and I am so happy that they did.

His unwavering faith in humanity even when he didn’t believe in himself. The “people were going to die!” The whole bit about being punk rock.

Chefs kiss.

Also nothing better happen to Ma and Pa Kent I swear to god they are adorable and I love them so much.

And Martha is great but I like that we got Jon and Clark bonding, the whole bit about parenting I was sobbing.

The change to the message of his parents was everything.

Honestly I love this movie for many of the reasons I loved The Batman movie because of how they portray hope and heroism.

Hope is dirty, it’s bleeding and bruised, spitting a tooth out onto the ground and getting back up. It’s one foot in front of the other when it hurts to move. It’s not backing down when it would be so easy to do so.

And above all else to be a hero is to be a symbol of hope.

It’s Batman lighting a torch in the dark and digging people out of the rubble and guiding them to safety.

It’s a kid desperate and terrified raising a flag with Superman’s symbol knowing help with arrive.

And well meddling when you’re not supposed too is the very essence of being a hero. Of standing up for what is right and planting your feet to the ground when the whole world wants you to move.

Saving people no matter what the cost may be because nothing else matters more.

I just love that we’re getting superheroes that feel like heroes.

And Lex was a great villian to oppose him. He embodied envy in every aspect of his being. To him it was never about war or peace it was just an excuse so that he could get the right to kill Superman.

I’m not gonna lie it did take me out hearing “Superman harem” I was like ohhh boy where is this going 🤣

Especially with the clone I was like…dear lord that is not Conner(?) is it?

Thankfully not the case..for now at least I was like damn I know you were just talking about oh Superman is gonna populate the world his spawn.

But this very soon.

Also Supergirl briefly at the end I already adore her what a fucking icon.

So yeah I had so much fun watching this and I am really excited to see what comes next in this new universe we’re in.

I love how Dave Filoni and George Lucas pulled a Yu-Gi-Oh 4kids dub on the clones. Without the inhibitor chip, the clones are highly trained soliders that had to put their feelings aside after the betrayal of the Jedi (weather they knew order 66 was always part of the plan) and kill them but still giving them free agency to resist the order. Showing that even though the clones are slaves to the Republic they still have free will to resist an atrocity. But with the inhibitor chips they give the clones, who basically have no agency with their life already, have even less agency and make them the thing they swear they weren't, mindless droids. Completely striping them of what little freewill and personality they had and cementing their fate as only having one purpose, killing the Jedi.

session was fine (/lh) highlights for me were gem's power being one of the coolest feeding the "associated with the watchers" allegations and her almost succesful escape of a practically impossible trap (yes im gonna ignore pearl's comment about gem's eye, i want to smash pearl with a hammer after that). and also gem is so obsessed with pearl it’s maddening, sadly pearl is the most oblivious player on the server 💔

so now lets focus instead on the potential of superhero!gem whose body practically dies when she projects her soul and superhero!pearl who excessively worries and protects her in that state while fearing one day gem won't come back to her body :D

we got a session with relatively normal gempearl moments!!! (well. as normal as they can be. anyway)

glad that watcher lore enjoyers are getting fed with watcher-leaning Gem and listener Martyn, i dont go here often but god thats some good material

the wild card this session is honestly very fun!!! mostly banger episodes, i would’ve taken a whole season of just this gimmick ngl but i also see why it’s only for a single session (currently watching Martyn’s ep and god it’s amazing if you ever were/currently are a bnha fan), also Gem trying to get joint custody of the zombies is. peak. gemrot enjoyers get your food

THE PEARL COMMENT…girl…she’s trying so hard to justify failing that trivia bot question it’s just funny. sorry to all the fic writers who have to find a way to justify Pearl not noticing/remembering the eye of ender situation. somehow simultaneously down bad and horrible at remembering what Gem’s done

like i said, the superhero AU stocks are skyrocketing… i dont do superhero AUs that much but if i were to spitball one rn it would be interesting to explore both superheroes Gem and Pearl, who aren’t on the same team/agency but know of each other and have this ongoing rivalry, where their powers are both useful in intel gathering (Gem by projecting and Pearl by flying nearby and listening in on conversations, though Gem’s probably better at it), but they’re also fighting villains on the field, and Pearl’s ability gives her an advantage in combat, while Gem makes up for it with her on duelling expertise

and yeah. maybe sometimes Pearl would fly by and spot Gem using her powers by herself. and maybe Pearl would hover around the area just to make sure nothing happens to her while she’s out of it… she doesn’t really know how Gem’s powers work in its entirety, but better safe than sorry, right?

(one time Gem finds out that Pearl is watching over her body while she’s astral projecting, and she decides to scare the ever living hell out of Pearl by suddenly jumping back into her body with no warning— Pearl nearly falls off a building with how much of a spook that gave her and Gem has never let that go since)

it's not like you really need redemption, you are pure hearted already. it's more a matter of understanding the reasons why you ended in Hell and coming to terms with them. maybe then the gates of Heaven would open for you. it's also a safer place for you to be.

Charlie welcomes you excitedly; Angel Dust, Husk and Vaggie aren't that friendly at first since your personalities don't match, but they eventually grow fond of you

and then there's, well...the Radio Demon.

you never met an Overlord before, and Alastor was supposed to be gone for years. But his presence wasn't frightening. A big smile spread across his face, he welcomed you like a gentleman.

you heard stories about his lifestyle and even previous murderous acts as a human, but for some reason you just can't bring yourself to fear him.

at first you were kinda pathetic to him. so naive, out of touch with the evils of Hell. he didn't dislike you. just thought your life was so easy to throw away in a society like that and that you wouldn't last long.

it seems like you two don't have much to share. he just wanders in his den, while you spend time in your room. you greet each other and have small talks, but nothing more than that. that's until he hears jazz music play behind your door.

he mentions it during dinner, and you start talking about your interest in 30s jazz music, especially the one of the Roaring 20s. you come from a later era, but you're very much cultured about jazz and its forms and that's enough for Alastor to develop an interest in you.

he has so many jazz artists recommendations, and you share some of your favourite pieces with him through your gramophone.

without even noticing, Alastor starts spending hours in your room just listening to music. some time even practicing swing dancing. and talking about jazz culture all around the world, and entertainment in general. he has many fun facts about the history of radio too!

the others at the hotel notice your growing bond and low-key support it, in their own, weird way. Angel Dust is especially convinced that you two are hooking up, as Husk not-so-kindly explains that it's more likely for Alastor to ascend to Heaven than express interest in sex.

you would start to open yourself up a bit to the Radio Demon. he doesn't understand why, since it didn't ask or never showed much empathy. but he just can't bring himself to tell you to stop. he wants to listen.

you manage to make him talk about some glimpses of his own life and thoughts. you knew that he was the complete opposite of you. incline to Evil, an enjoyer of all things that made your stomach clench. but he's still the one person who spends hours with you just listening to both jazz and your fears.

one day, Alastor decided that in no way you are walking around the city without him. it's just too dangerous for you. he tries to teach you how to use weapons and demonic powers to defend yourself but he doesn't feel like you can make it into Hell by yourself.

you like strolling through the streets with him, arms intertwined, chatting and laughing even if demons around you are shitting their pants just by seeing the Overlord walking around.

but one day, Alastor can't find you.

you're not in your room, or in the Hotel hall. No one saw you that morning. He starts to feel something he never felt in his life: fear.

he darts out the Hotel, trying to find you. that's when he sees you just a few streets away.

a group of animal-like demons is encircling you. you are on your knees, arms over your head to protect yourself. A lion-demon is holding a knife over you and your arms are covered in cuts. you hold something close to your stomach.

that's when Alastor realized that he had feelings for you.

when he threw himself between you and the demons attacking you.

it's the first time you see Alastor without a smile. his teeth are gritted, face full of unprecedented violence and will to kill, breathing heavily in and out in a sort of animalistic way, but there's no trace of his characteristic smile you love.

his body starts to morph into his full demon form. his horns grow exponentially, his body too as it hovers menacingly on top of your aggressors as they start to feel a pure fear they never felt before.

in a matter of a second, they are gone. Alastor has always been a calculated, elegant killer, but this time he only felt a raw, ferocious instinct to kill.

as he's done, he turns around towards you. he doesn't want to, but he snaps.

Alastor's face immediately softens. Eyebrows raised, smile still not seen. He's just surprised and...moved.

He doesn't say anything, he just picks you up in his arms and takes you back to the Hotel where he bandages your arms.

Feeling guilty for putting yourself in danger, you ask Alastor to come to your room in order to apologize to him.

As he closes the door behind him, he says that there's no need to apologize.

"I'm...glad that you are still in your room. Listening to jazz, alive"

words didn't come easy, but he did feel the need to say it. you smile at him.

you propose to put his gift on the gramophone and so you do. music starts to flow between the small space you shared with the Radio Demon.

that's when you and Alastor start slow dancing. his arms around your waist, yours encircling his neck. his smile is back, but soft and...almost loving.

with his silent agreement, you reach for his cheek and graze it.

"Thank you for saving me, Alastor. Even if you are everything I distance myself from in this life...I'm glad you are the person that you are with me. In my next life, I'll make sure to be a sinner again if it means dancing with you like this"

Alastor now understands his feelings. It's something deeper than care. It's love. But not the same love you reserve to a friend and not even romantic. It's something deeper, more visceral.

He doesn't answer, just closes his eyes and leans in to press his forehead against yours.

you later fall asleep on your bed to the quiet sound of the gramophone playing, hands intertwined on Alastor's chest.

◊ He and I were assigned to our squadron together, before we were blooded as mercenaries. The rest of what would eventually become Misericorde found us... offputting. They flaked away slowly but surely, driven away by either one of us with time. However, we two alone found each other acceptable company. We understood one another, in ways we were not accustomed to being understood. It formed a foundation sturdy and lasting, as I would hope is evident from our lasting partnership-

◊ ah, I do feel I should clarify lest you get the wrong impression of my dear Zero. While we are life partners of a sort, we are not romantically entangled. He can sleep with whomever he so chooses- and he often does. It only becomes my concern if he so chooses someone liable to make an attempt on his life in the aftermath, which- as I'm sure he would be happy to regale you about, this is not an uncommon thing. house md season 2 review!

season strengths, highlights, low points, and some house md blasphemy awaits you below.

what can be said about season 2 that hasn't been talked about to death? this was such an amazing watch. the stories are even more vibrant than on my first go-around, and the showrunners' confidence just oozes out of nearly every episode.

season strengths:

season 2 is all about the house md wow factor, and it's not just sequestered to the season finale. almost every case in season 2, and the corresponding storylines between the characters, are leagues more interesting than season 1's. does this come at the cost of some realism? of course lol. but i have to admire their growing ability to mingle batshit patient stories (i.e., "clueless") with whatever the gang has going on. it's hard to be bored during this season.

intertwining everybody. everyone has spoken to each other, disputed one another, said something kind and mean about the other, etc. more than that, things are MESSY! but it's BELIEVABLE! ever since "hunting," the PPTH staff have become increasingly wound up in each other. highlights ofc include chase/cameron, house and foreman as mirrors, the burgeoning saga that is hilson, and cuddy/house.

wilson. i'm serious. they could have gone either way with wilson at the end of season 1, keep up the crooked angel-on-house's-shoulder or give him his own rich personhood, and guess which one they went with!? 2x14-2x19 (sans 2x18) is one of the craziest runs of the entire show, esp for your resident wilson enjoyer. and every new piece of info we get about him, the "worse" his character seems on paper while also endearing himself to the audience. we really are in house's POV. plus this is the real foundational comphet wilson season. 2x14, i carry you close to my heart. he is Performing Those Rituals. Maintaining That Persona.

speaking of comphet wilson - everything is at least a little bit queer in season 2. is that the lens i am bringing to the show? absolutely. but would a 2000s doctor show typically lend itself so well to my kind of analysis? NO. there's such an intricate system of othering at play that links disability to homosexuality to gender performance and back again, and the characters weren't just not whole enough in season 1 to pull this off. it's not just comphet wilson; it's the Mega Queer Greg House of it all, too. and the number of times this season basically penalized/demonized heterosexuality lmfao.

catholicism/house's deification. my 2x08 recap wasn't so much about the episode at large, but more so a close-reading of just how much catholic imagery they loaded it up with, and that's been a consistent joy of mine to observe. watching house struggle with his own personhood and struggle to maintain control, while at the same time having characters like chase (mostly chase lol) symbolically worship house against their better judgment will always get me. wilson's line in 2x19 about believing in something but still failing to live up to it is so prophetic.

season weaknesses:

stacy's departure...where did she go? i mean yeah, she had a sendoff, but house md's quiet-killing of characters (re: vogler) is kinda awkward lol. i thought there would be at least one more passing scene with her, or even a reference beyond what wilson says in 2x12 to lay his cruelty to house on even thicker. RIP stacy warner. see you again in 8x22.

the wow factor giveth and the wow factor taketh. while "skin deep" isn't in my least favorites, it negatively impacts the season overall. sometimes we did, in fact, do Too Much. it's a calculated risk, plunging house into his worst states and expecting viewers' sympathy in return, and this is one of those rare occasions where it missed the mark because the episode, not just house himself, was punching down.

favs:

2x19 "house vs. god": i'm being so sincere when i say that this episode has quite literally everything i could ever want. it balances religiosity, masculinity, sexuality as something to be manipulated, and social othering, all wrapped up in the flag of Comphet Wilson. the notion of a "functional vampire" so clearly describes how we really do function in the world, seeking out validation via love and vice versa. it also establishes the enduring nature of house and wilson's relationship. when you leave 2x19, you have a deep-set, almost subliminal understanding that these 2 are inseparable, which sets the stage so excellently for the strain of season 3.

2x24 "no reason": this one was vying for first place and nearly got there! there's nothing unique i can add to our collective appreciation for 2x24. it's a case study in what makes house md tick, carried on the shoulders of hugh laurie's strongest performance yet. and the downright surety the showrunners have in fooling us into the climax is well-founded and well-deserved. house md's emphasis on internality is unmatched.

2x17 "all in": this is the house md equivalent of a fantasy royal ball episode and it means the world to me. on top of all its thematic work about house/god, we also get hilson cigars, which is something i hold so near and dear to my heart. cameron and cuddy look incomprehensibly beautiful. wilson won the poker tournament. he had pocket aces. "poker face" by lady gaga.

i know. i know. "euphoria part 2" isn't on my list. i already feel bad about it. my defense is that these are my favs not just for my Critical Thinking Reasons, but because i have a blast watching them, and 2x20-21 are such devastating blows to the psyche that i can't call them my favs. some of the best of the entire show? for sure.

least favs:

2x18 "sleeping dogs lie": suffered at the hands of its predecessor and successor, both of which are in my top 3 favorite of the season lol. as i said in my recap, i just think this one is repetitive and doesn't add much new to the table. 2x20-21 picks up cameron's characterization specifically in a much more innovative way, but i suppose that wouldn't be possible without 2x18, so i digress. just eh all around.

2x09 "deception": nothing major against this episode, i just didn't find it to be memorable. there were a lot of missed opportunities to expound on house's understanding/retaliation against munchausen's, and it's a good thing that we got a proper foreman era later on to make up for this bit.

overall rating: 9.5/10. maybe i'm just being like that one professor who can't give a 100% because nothing is perfect, but i just can't do it! 2x13 is a big hit to the season, and there is some repetition abound. but it hardly gets any better than this. season 2 is truly a delight, an impeccable improvement from an already great foundational season. this next phase of my rewatch was pretty exhausting and rewarding because the episodes are complex and worth your goddamn time! pay attention, dammit! there are gay people in the doctor show!

also, can you believe that we're a 4th of the way through the ENTIRE show?

The real, true, core problem with Boruto is the writers didn't have the courage to give it the genre it deserved: slice of life. After the nonstop battles and high melodrama of Naruto the characters, the setting, and the audience all deserved to be rewarded with something more mellow, sweet, and happy. The drama could be of the sorts that you'd find in a sitcom or other mild drama: interpersonal failings, work-related stress, culture clash with foreign ideas, tension between new and old generations. And then every two or three hundred episodes, you'd have Naruto team up with an old friend (Gaara, Sasuke, Killer Bee, Shino, etc) find the guys who have been doing shady things in the background for the last 2 arcs, and just fucking annihilate them off the face of the planet. Then back to clan politics, researching peaceful applications for Ninjutsu, and how to plan a birthday party for Himawari in Ame without the local Naruto cult making a big deal out of it. I don't hate the Boruto manga for existing, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a "bad timeline" AU personal project. So I don't let it color my enjoyment of the series. I've been watching the series with my friend (his first time) and we've been having a ton of fun! I've been poisoning his mind with my ideas on how the setting works, and which characters are bastards most responsible for screwing everything up (Looking at you, Jiraya. Danzo.) , which has been very enjoyable.

Ok time for a fun fact:

I watched Boruto (anime) before Naruto.

And the Boruto anime is so full of filler that is actually slice of life, a little bit like if Naruto's parents hadn't fucking died and I thought it was good!! it has funny moments, touching moments and I didn't even knew half of the adult characters!

Then I watched the main series and i was like 'oh this goes hard i see why everyone likes it' and then i saw part 2 and went 'ok yeah i guess' and then it went to shit a little bit for me because this very cool ninja magic system (the clones, the deceit of changing yourself for a stupid little log, the hiding yourself using a piece of paper/fabric, the chakra level system) was very cool!! but then in part two that is sent to shit when madara uchiha himself can just summon a damn meteor to kill everyone, and not that i don't like madara but i really think him just going down there and beating everyone's asses with no actual jutsus needed was more badass than the meteor.

what i mean is that the whole 'naruto is actually the reincarnation of ninja god's son' thing feels very lazy when this series had an actual cool system that made sense and wasnt pulled out of someone's ass.

i think shikamaru defeating hidan with his wit and nothing else was more interesting than naruto just coming and blasting kakuzu to hell.

and this doesn't mean i don't like naruto, i actually like it a lot but that doesn't mean i don't see the very obvious flaws in it.

Now back to what you said, there's media depicting what happens after the war, there's novels, but not everyone is interested in reading the novels when you can just go back and watch the anime from the beginning and see how cool everything was. i liked the silly, i liked the whimsy and for several seasons Boruto has it!

But then they want to go into the same alien shit that i seriously think it's so uncool and not even fun anymore so it kinda makes me want to stay away from it, cover my ears and eyes and go 'LALALA'

Your number 1 clutz, she works often to pay bills, so you always can expect her to get injured somehow. You always make sure they have a first aid kit in her house. 

You always have cartoon band aids for her, you always see her with a smile seeing them on her. When she scraped her hand from jumping off a height, you were there with the most stupid cartoon band aid you guys were laughing at. 

Misaki, at first, tried to hide injuries and scrapes after learning you were a doctor. They didn’t want to worry you or bother you. Especially, when you are dealing with other patients who need you more. Well, until you sat them down and had a very important conversation

Misaki supports your job, but on days where you lose a patient, the dark days, they pull you onto the couch and watch shows or movies until you feel better.

You were on vacation visiting your partner, you stayed at her place while she was at their job. You picked up some fast food for dinner tonight, an easy night for the both of you. To cuddle up on their bed and eat it while being together. You were at her table, just playing on your phone, when she came home. She was scraped up. 

“Misaki? What happened?” Immediately rushing to her side. Nothing but scraps and bruises. Scratching the back of her head with a goofy smile, you know she was fine, just slightly injured. 

You sighed as you shoved them onto a chair, pulling your first aid from your bag. “So… I kinda jumped from a height that I knew I wasn’t gonna die from but… still scraped myself… So I'm good, still?” 

You laughed softly as they rambled, you were making sure she was bandaged correctly and that they wouldn’t scar. After you kissed her forehead. “Please be careful, I don’t want you as a full patient, then I wouldn’t be able to slip kisses on you.” 

She gasped, “Then, I’ll make sure! I need those kiss taxes for each bandaid.”

He thinks you're honorable for being able to help others, even ones who do not need it. You work long and hard for your job for the people who need to be fed to his animals. 

When he does get injured, he either does it himself, at least not to worry you, or get you. You do talk as you patch him for simple injuries. He learns a lot about the health care you do. And he is very appreciative about this. 

Sure, you are a doctor for only humans, but you do patch up the animals(At least, the ones who are calm around you). And if you don’t know something and he does, he will teach you. Afterall, you do like helping people. 

After losing a patient or an animal from V’s care, V will make sure you are resting and taking your time to grief. You know you can’t always save them and he will say it as well. He makes sure you are eating and brings a hot drink for you(either tea or hot cocoa). If you need a day away from everything and just rest in bed, he would make sure you have some breakfast with juice next to it.

You opened the door to V’s home, you got off of work, and V invited you into his home for dinner. After having a stressful day, you just wanted to relax, but V wasn’t home. It was quiet and dark, turning on the lights, you see some animals hungry and the plants need their water. 

Grabbing the assorted food for each animal and giving the plants their water as well. You sit on his desk chair, stretching while you yawn. It seems V would be late to his own dinner invite, leaving you a smile, knowing this is a rare occurrence. Well, for a moment before seeing your lover walk in. He was holding his arm tightly.

Getting up and running towards him, immediately accessing his injuries. “Where did you put the first aid?” 

Him, now noticing you were in his place, “Near my computer.” He sat on his bed when you were climbing his steps, removing his hand for you to fix it up for him. “Didn’t expect you here. I would have done it myself.” 

“Well, a certain someone asked me to join him for dinner. I just didn’t expect to see you sliced up. Bad fight.” He nods. Placing that smile as you continue to patch him up. “Well, since I do not want to cook tonight, and I am gonna ban you from using your arm for a bit, let’s get takeout tonight. I’ll pay.” 

He was gonna reject the offer but knowing how much you care about people, he just agrees. Allowing you to finish up and buy food that you both like. Enjoy a somewhat relaxed dinner date with your boyfriend.

Angel 

Even though both of you have very demanding jobs, you both share a calendar on each of your phones to track when you guys hang out. Before both of you moved in together, you guys would sleep call about each other's jobs. 

When you notice she isn't taking care of herself, you try to make sure she does. Didn’t eat? You took your break early to make sure she eats. Tired? You pop up with a coffee with a note saying, ‘Sleep when you can love’. When she notices when you are also not taking care of yourself, she makes sure to take the next few days off with you to make sure you are on top health. She doesn’t want her favorite doctor to fall ill. 

When you find out that she is a cannibal, you often sneak out human bits for her, sure it’s a joke. But you always notice they disappear sooner or later. 

After losing a patient at your job, you would always take the next day off. And she would be at the ready. Holding you close as you cry into her arms, playing music in a playlist you both made. Just spending time with you until you feel better.

You wiped the tears off your cheeks, you had a patient pass away from their illness. They were a nice kid who had dreams of becoming a doctor like you. Someone like… you. You felt like you disappointed the child and their parents. Everyone except the child knew they weren’t able to live as long, and kept this from everyone. It devastated you. 

You heard your bedroom door open, looking over to see Angel with a steaming cup. She offered a small, comforting smile towards you. She sat closer to you as she shifted your head onto her lap. 

“I’m here for you.” She plays with your hair as she places the cup on your nightstand with her other hand. She hums softly to fill the quiet air around the both of you. 

She does make sure you eat and drink something, as you would do for her.

Ronin

Ronin wants to be able to see you often, either calling during your job or just showing up for a ‘check up’. Just to annoy you(But it always leaves you a smile everytime he does.). 

If you are a surgeon, he drags you out to his murders, you have to show him how to remove something. And he can, he wants you to, seeing you covered in blood reminds him that you aren’t some saving grace. 

If he’s injured, he just shows up to your place, bloody and bruised. Leaving you to patch him up, after all you are the doctor. Luckily, you always carry first aid. Though, you do reprimand him while you do, heck when he gets sassy, you knock the back of his head. But he will laugh at you when you do, knowing he pissed you off. 

On the unlucky days, losing a patient, Ronin was there. His twisted words always make you feel better somehow. Pulling you into his arms as he talked about his own job, distracting you from your own horrible reality at the moment. Or brings up the server, talking about how V isn’t getting any closer while pulling in jokes to see you smile.

Ronin dragged you out of your place, you just finished a 11 hour shift, so of course being tired was a understandment. Luckily, he brought you your favorite caffeine drink, a compromise in his eyes. Taking sips as he dragged you into his alleyway. He was out dragging poor souls that he would slaughter. 

He always brought you to so he can also learn about your job, using the dead boys to explain. Surgeon? You have to cut open the body to show how you do it at work. Check ups? You would have to use scraps nearby that could get the job done. If the victim was unknown to both of you, you would evaluate the body. The dead man was an alcoholic, and abused his lover for little details. You knew him as well. He treated you poorly. Maybe, Ronin did poison your brain for smiling at the male being dead. 

You were unbothered by the scene now, sipping your drink as you see Ronin stepping closer. “You have time tomorrow?” You shook your head. “Good, I need my favorite health care person tomorrow. I need to see how knowledgeable you are.” 

Rolling your eyes at his words, but you know you would be there with your boyfriend. No matter the mess you would see. 

“Now let's go, you seem like you are about to drop dead.” 

“Says the man who dragged me out of bed to see them kill someone.”

“What can I say, I need my partner to see the bad man dead.”

tiny explanation: when 1x formed, they formed as the male version, which resembles telamon more, because of this, they now refuse to turn back into it because it reminds them of what they once were ! the other version is duller because it has been more drained / used more as a vessel

i’ll add a bit more below it’s kinda long though so only read it if you actually want a ton of lore stuff lol: copypasted from my giant lore doc, as context, i was talking about my 1x’s ‘lifecycle’

When 1x ‘dies’ (usually in fights with telamon’ he reforms in the empty SFOTH server (telas private server) in the void. The second stage is development, which he usually stays in the server until he is out of it (the stage). This is when her body begins to work again – not that she can’t move before / during this state, she can, it’s just easier not to – her body resembles that of a pre-formed star, her limbs are not quite corporeal yet, instead, rapidly solidifying out of the gases that surround him – which are primarily composed of carbon dioxide, cyanide, methane, oxygen, and some hydrogen, as well as trace amounts of uranium. (this gives her a constant scent of bitter almonds.) Touching him or being near him in this state is extremely dangerous, as the elements that compose his body have not yet stabilized, electrons are going haywire, neutrons have no connected, and the protons are doing who knows what, so being in close proximity can vaporize somebody who isn’t either used to it, or who isn’t T/S. T/S is completely unaffected by his smoke, it only feels cold to him, or its vaguely uncomfortable for him to breath in when X is near. Eventually, in a burst of atomic energy – as her cells and atoms split to fully reform her body, IXV fully comes back to life and briefly takes on a form similar to her usual self, except her entire body is supercharged with energy. It is incredibly painful to bear, but makes all of her poisons essentially the equivalent of horrible nuclear residue. Even T should not be near her at this state, and he has not seen her in it before because of how brief it is. After a few hours, her body absorbs most of the energy, and she survives on that alone for the rest of the duration of her ‘life’ until she eventually dies or ‘burns out.’ (I will explain this in a second.) After being essentially reborn, she has a much better chance of surviving fights against T, and typically challenges him as soon as she is able. These battles most commonly end in a draw due to T’s quick recovery ability.

Because he wastes most of his limited energy fighting T, if he does not win the initial battle, all other battles will typically go downhill, because he technically cannot regain energy. IXV dies, and then starts the cycle anew in hopes that he can one day kill T. (T is genuinely unable to die at ALL unlike IXV who can continously respawn, which IXV does not know. X believes that is he kills T once then he will be gone forever, which is completely untrue.) The other thing that can technically kill IX is ‘burning out.’ Because they are by technically, living as though they are a star, they only have limited reserves of energy made from the nuclear fusion of their body. If they do not end up dying to T eventually, once they have used enough energy, the pressure of their core – a physical part of their body located in the center of their chest, it is where all their energy comes from – will legitimately force their entire body to condense, and then compress into the core. The core is completely unable to move, and wherever their body reaches its critical threshold, it will basically destroy the entire world around it. This has only happened a VERY small amount of times, because T, despite his enjoyment of combat, typically tries to kill X on their first encounter so this does not occur, or reanchors X in V1.xxxx4:T-server when it is close to occuring so it does not occur in public games. If it DOES, which is has, the core essentially becomes a black hole and absorbs the entire game to give IXV enough ‘’energy’ to reform. Their subsequent ‘reformation’ has only happened once when they inadvertently absorbed most of a game, and it ended up only reforming them partially, and completely wrong. IXV was essentially an eldritch god for several hours until T had to come and get rid of her. IXV is completely aware of the capability and often tries to completely absorb sfoth with it, with little luck.

in summary: my 1x is a star that is constantly dying, the other version is more vibrant only because it has died less

He's so broken and sad I can't help but feel pity and affection for him- though ngl seeing him suffer is very enjoyable too. Especially when Shadow Milk plays with him since he knows which buttons to press- just a delight to witness. I have a weakness for kind characters being broken down or challenged by something that affects them greatly. Such a big potential for angst and character study.

It just saddens me how miserable he is, that he wholeheartedly believes that he hurt everyone, that it's all his fault everyone suffered. (Have you heard that line in Korean? God- It gets to me. Ouch) But despite that he still tried his best to protect the children from Shadow Milk even if it meant playing in his games. He tried to defy him but in the end he had to submit whether he wanted to or not. (Though it was meaningless to try to protect them since he pushed them off the tower anyway)

And I love that he managed to understand Shadow Milk, to literally feel his pain and self-loathing. A bit upsetting that this line was mistranslated and it was vague whose feelings were that TR felt. But all of it was Shadow Milk.

I can't help but wonder if his promotion line means that too in a way? That the more he understands the world the more he understands why Shadow Milk despises it? While of course APV is the opposite since he learned to accept every imperfection and embrace it, to love and cherish it. I dunno, maybe I'm reaching here. (BUT GOD HE LOVES SHADOW MILK, HE TRULY DOES EVEN AFTER HE'S BEEN HURT AND ABUSED BY HIM)

Also this line- thought it was a bit funny cause he's rather forward about it but it's also sweet. He doesn't blame you if you can't go forward, he's just gently saying "hey it's okay if you're tired, just take a break" and I love that about him. He's still Pure Vanilla. He's still so caring and sweet. He'd hug you if you're having a bad day even if he's hurting too. He'd shield you from the bitter truth and take the blow. (Costume story TR does that too basically)

Also what's heartbreaking is that in order to awaken he literally needs to stab himself in his chest- he needs to kill himself to ascend to the top and it just 💔💔 Breaks me. He doesn't deserve this. My poor Recluse,,

I remember that briefly after the ep 8 released I made an art that mischaracterizes him so badly I literally cannot look at it rn without cringing. I won't tell which one it is but now that I understand Recluse more... I'd rather not remember it lol. I got it so wrong I'm ashamed of myself rn

Anyway I love Recluse. I love how pathetic and miserable he is most of the time, I love how much he struggles and sincerely thinks that everything that happened is his fault when it's not. He's simply tried his best and did what he believed was right yet it brought him here, at the bottom. As I mentioned, he's relatable and feels so real I'm getting emotional over a cookie,, eueuue

Also how can I not love his smile. Look at it. Beautiful. How can a damn cookie be so perfect?
