@marqenobi thank you for asking my thoughts on Berlin show.
First of all, first time they mentioned the spin off I was very excited. I love LCDP so much, even some of the things I disagree in later seasons, season 4 & 5. Still, my god. It was authentic, thrilling, made you doubt that this teams could ever get away. Both heists were very AMAZING, one of a kind. The show that never been created like that.
The mint heist still and will always be my Fav. But the Gold heist, it was Grand. The mint heist was like Classic Noir Suspense, thrilling and dramatic, holding my breath most of the time. The gold heist was loud, a touch of war, a test for the humanity, shocking, and didn't give us the audience mercy by UNAFRAID to kill our fav characters 😢 both heists were showing us a very thin line between bad guys and good guys. Okay i'll stop ranting now before it gets too long lol.
Now comes the Spin off. Berlin fans favorite.
We expected the background stories of this maniac, his sly and intelligence ways to do the robberies. Why he never get caught. (This one I believe it had something to do with Sergio). And other things that We're so excited to found out about this man. I don't think fans care whether he turns out to be worse than we want him to, or not as evil as the fans thought he might. Fans would love any kind of representation on his arc. And this is why I love fan base, they can cook whatever there is in canon and made their own interpretation on him. It'd be fun. But not the overly obsessed in love with a stranger middle aged man.
When I watch the spin off. I finished them in one day lol. I'm sure some of us did somehow. We've been waiting. If I can be honest,
Berlin is the worst character on his own show. First, the fashion. That man cares about his look, his fashion is quite bad there. I'm sorry. The turtle neck is too much.
Second, Andres in LCDP season 1&2 were a fucking professional who would kill a witness, Advicing sergio to kill Angel in the hospital to cut a loose end, and other rational smart decisions in regard for his teammates, which some of them I agreed with him. That's why He's known to be a ruthless professional with a brain. That's what makes him worth to be the Captain that you can actually depended on.
Andres in the Spin off looks like a cartoonic character chasing a woman he fell in love with in 5 seconds, and for those who haven't watched, that's what He'll be doing until the end of the show. He forgot about Everything and it makes me so mad, because he doesn't care about his teammates, doesn't give a shit about the plan, he looks more of a dumbass than Arturo. A professional thief would never did that, especially if He's the one who leads the team.
The kind of love story is almost similar to Sergio and Raquel. The difference is Sergio really were a fucking cruel professional. Sergio still rational even when he knows He's falling for her. But his priority is the plan, the teammates, to get them out safely. He's willing to leave Raquel and even thinking of killing her mother (lol), ruin Raquel's career and possibly life, ALL PART OF THE PLAN. it wasn't just a sudden choice, it was all planned down to the last details, and that is the cruelest most ruthless Romance and revenge to the cops, that one could possibly think or interpret what Sergio experience weren't love but infatuation and adrenaline in the midst of heist. I'd like to talk about this some other time, it's gonna pissed off some Serquel fans. But We're not here for that.
Whereas Andres, the cold hearted Sociopath, he chased down Camille into the elevator and kissed her (cringe), singing Felicita with Damian with no care while his team being chased down by the cops (ok). Taking care of camille's best friend's kid (wtf), going to see Camille's husband in Jail and offer him help, because he is so in love with her, and tried to freed him. what is the point of helping her husband? What does he get from it?! I mean... They want to make him look like the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man lol.
They also tried so hard to make him look like a psychopath but failed, the worst trials. First he threatened that guy in the opening scene, that was quite good actually, probably the best scene in the show, but it went down hill from there. Second, looking at the fork in the restaurant because he's angry lol, Alex Pina. You don't have to do that. That was very unnecessary. Andres killing a guy in the restaurant with a fork is done. And no need to remake that scene. And then, he threatened the Lawyer, I just realized that Andres is all talking, and talking, trying to scare people with his threats. Nothing much.
Third, the heist in the spin off. The advertisement of Berlin Spin off is that the Red Gem that They're gonna steal. The mystery heist we've been waiting for. And in the spin off, I don't know when did the heist ended. Just like that. What did they steal anyway? Only jewels. There weren't any red gem. How much? And what about the tunnel they made under the chapel? Did they just leave it like that? There are too many loose ends and of course the heist, the plan weren't great. I can say it was a very bad bad robbery, and an easy one too. No wonder sergio and martin weren't there. No need for the masterminds help.
The members of the crew were just like bad copies of the original. Nobody can change my mind on this. Tried so hard to bring back the old vibe gang, doing Everything wrong in this show and they have the audacity to promote it by saying "We're making a thing better than the LCDP". At least have some respect with the former show. The former actors also work hard to achieve a great show together.
Damian and his problem with his wife, Cameron and her past which Nobody cares, Roi (rafael 0.2) that's why andres asked him to wear glasses. Perhaps it reminds him of his son. But how does he know how his son looks like when he never ever seen him? (Season 5 plot), Bruce (i've got no problem with bruce, the dude didn't try too much, He's cool), kaila (Surprisingly I like keila more than the rest. She's not Trying to be somebody in the past, she's more of a fresh character than Berlin ever could).
Now Alicia and Raquel. They were meh. Their dialogue were bad. The chances of these two could thrive in Berlin if they have their own story. Instead of forcing their friendship on our faces. I was excited about their roles. But it turns a bit forced??? Idk if it's just me I guess.
The whole story line could work if they focus more about the robbery. And see where the characters develop from there. I thought perhaps if they gonna ruin Berlin character at least perhaps with a great heist plot could save this spin off. But it turned out to be a bad heist nobody even really care about.
Still there are some moments where berlin were tolerable and ofc great on some scenes. I have HUGE respect on Pedro for his acting skill but even a great acting skill couldn't save a bad plot and direction. The potential were there, but they are TOO focus on the Nostalgic that they ruined the chances to bring out the origin stories for Berlin.
The fans could do better tbh. Making gifts like @marqenobi did, or @pedroalonso did with their arts. And perhaps creating a better story lines like @roccinan fics for examples lol. About Berlermo and Hermanos. And others I too enjoyed very much. Since I guess we do it out of love for the characters themselves and not for anything else.
Strange that I still hope for more seasons you know why? Because I love the character. And yearn to see more of them. I was left disappointed. But what can I do but cringe all the way through watching berlin spin off.
Pedro you did great. But i'm sorry. Berlin spin off were very bad. And that's my honest opinion. If you have your own thought on this @marqenobi please don't hesitate to share yours too. Even if you disagree with me, I'd be delighted to hear another opinions. That's what i've been doing here on blogs reading different thoughts n opinions about things. Xoxoxo happy new year.

Okay okay okay, this might sound just a tiny bit unhinged but I am convinced that the LCDP writers have seen and been influenced by Hannibal, owing to the parallels between the Hannibal/Will and Sergio/Raquel relationships (focusing especially on a scene in the show that really mirrors one in Hannibal).
So, let's look at the text. First up, Hannibal, 3x11
Hannibal: The building of a new body and the othering of himself, the splitting of his personality, all seem active and deliberate. He craves change. Will: He didn't murder those families. He changed them. Hannibal: Don't you crave change, Will?
Second, LCDP, 2x8
El Profesor: Yo estoy haciendo una inyección de liquidez. Pero no a la banca. La estoy haciendo aquí, en la economía real, de este grupo de desgraciados, que es lo que somos, Raquel. Para escapar de todo esto. Tu no quieres escapar? ('I'm injecting liquidity. But not to the banks. I'm doing it here, in the real economy, for this group of wretches, Raquel, which is what we are. To escape from all of this. Don't you want to escape?')
And, ok, they're not the only two stories in existence where one character begs the other to see things from their point of view, you might say. You're clutching at straws here, Nay, because Hannibal is your current obsession, and LCDP was the one that came before.
But it's not just the dialogue. And it's not just this one scene.
If we're looking very literally at these two scenes, you'll notice that one half of our pair is imprisoned, but even that's not just surface level. Both imprisoned parties should not, by rights, be there, if they'd behaved in a remotely rational way leading up to that point. Hannibal allowed himself to be imprisoned for Will, even though he should have killed him long ago to protect himself. Raquel, likewise, could and should have handed Sergio over to the police many, many episodes ago, but she didn't, because like Hannibal, she couldn't bring herself to hurt him.
However, the real parallel isn't between Hannibal and Raquel - Sergio/Hannibal and Raquel/Will are the parallel characters leading up to these scenes, and besides looking at who is currently imprisoned, the clearest parallels within the scenes too.
Both of these relationships are deeply manipulative and physically violent, but the person who is initially causing harm gets tripped up by their own feelings, opening a window for their intended victim to exercise power over them instead. And, although in each relationship there is a clear manipulator at first, even in their beginnings, they are equals, and natural enemies (even though they might not realise it at first).
That's not to say the characters are the same - Hannibal's manipulation is driven by curiosity, and Sergio's is driven by ideals. But the outcomes are surprisingly similar nonetheless - they realise their goals, and then they regret them. They both lose the trust of the person they have unwittingly fallen in love with, and as Will and Raquel see Hannibal and Sergio, respectively, for the people they really are, they want (or think they want) to exact revenge on them. Raquel ties Sergio up and interrogates him, threatens him, hurts him, and Will tries to have Hannibal killed, and works to prove that it's Hannibal who's the serial killer, not him. But both Will and Raquel, of course, are not quite able to bring their righteous violence to its logical conclusion. Raquel fails to turn Sergio into the police, despite the fact that she's in charge of catching him, and Will gets tangled in his own line as he tries to reel Hannibal in, finding Hannibal himself far more magnetic than the justice of catching him. Both of them want to hurt their manipulative counterpart, but they've fallen for them too (and for both of them, I think this adds to their fury at Hannibal/Sergio).
And then we reach these two scenes I referenced at the top of the post. In both shows, they appear towards the end (at least, the assumed end at the time - LCDP, of course, got three more seasons later on, and Hannibal was [is?!] supposed to have more too). In both shows, Will and Raquel have experienced a loss of some kind, a really significant loss, tied to their identity, that is the fault of Hannibal/Sergio - Raquel has lost her job and integrity as an inspector; Will's family has nearly been killed and are emotionally lost to him - and yet they are both running towards the cause of that loss. Raquel, of course, is ostensibly trying to catch Sergio by herself, and Will has come to yell at Hannibal. But there's a calm in both scenes that wouldn't be there if all the wronged party felt was anger - after a fight Raquel lets Sergio talk to her without interruption, just as Will allows Hannibal to talk back to him, to ask him questions. And then our two manipulators - both of whom, I might add, have almost thrown everything away for the people who were supposed to be collateral damage - make this final plea in the dialogue above.
They're very different people, Sergio and Hannibal, but the plea is, at it's core, the same. The world, they say, The world doesn't look the way you were taught to see it, and you don't fit into it the way you thought either.
It's a plea for acceptance, because if Will and Raquel can accept the world and themselves the way Hannibal and Sergio see them, then they are, by extension, accepting them. It's a please, god, just say you want to run away with me.
And, in both instances, it works.

G, L, O, S for Athenobi, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite ships
AHSHAHS FIRST OFF - THANK YOU AHH 😭❤ So glad you like them!! @thepenguinandthefiend Athenobi No. 1 fan!! 😤🫡❤❤
And thanks for asking! Been meaning to talk about how they met so this was fun :3
Game link
G - Greetings what was their first meeting like?
They met outside the plot of LCDP!
I'm thinking one year before the heist (if it follows the "canon" storyline, haven't decided yet.)
Basically a "Coffee Shop AU" because I love that trope LOL :')
Clementia worked as a barista at a cafe that Ágata went to one day.
Clemmie took her order and her first thought was: Damn. She's so pretty
But she was scared to flirt 😭
But Ags noticed her blush and the way the barista smiled at her and felt flattered.
It quickly became Ags fav cafe. She was there often because "They had good coffee" *cough* Lame excuse to catch a glimpse of her barista crush. *cough*
One day, when Clemmie fixed Ags coffee, she awkwardly started a conversation with her "Nice weather today" "Yea! I'll probably go out later and take some photos" Ágata wanted to ask the barista more but got nervous 😭 Which she didn't understand. She's good at flirting and this was new to her! (Poor baby still didn't realise she had a crush)
L - Love when did they realize they were in love?
Clementia realised early on. She always got butterflies when Ágata came to the cafe, and when she hadn't been there for a while she felt sad
She didn't even know the name of her crush yet, so when Ags came in to buy a coffee to go, Clemmie got this super cheesy idea...
Ágata left the cafe with her paper coffee mug when she noticed the text on it, a bit smudged since it was written with eyeliner. I forgot to ask for you name! Hmu ♡ •‿• Followed by her phone number
Ágata was like: ???? at first until she realised it was Clemmies way of flirting 😭
It was now that she realised that: Ohhh f**k, I have a crush.
After that, they started chatting and it went quickly, and soon after, they confessed their love to one another <3
O - Object what’s something they have that reminds them of the other?
They both find the most silly and random objects and goes: "Awww that reminds me of her 🥹"
Can be a random cute plushie, jewelry etc etc
One object that reminds Clementia or Ágata is a plushie she won for her at a carnival game during a festival they went to!
Ags has a heart shaped stone that Clemmie found and gave her :')
S - Selfies do they like taking pictures together? Do they keep pictures of the other?
Answered in this post!
But here's some cheesy pictures similar to the ones they take together!

It’s been two weeks since La Casa de Papel is over and now I’m ready to admit this show shouldn’t have continued for a third, fourth and fifth part.
Despite being optimistic, the final episode was tiring, predictable and kinda underwhelming. I’m glad my favorites survived the bloody mess of the second heist but if I'm being honest, the true essence of La Casa de Papel, what made millions of people fall in love with these characters has nothing to do with Part 3, 4 or 5.
I enjoyed the three extra years of fandom experience Netflix gave me, but now I’m conveniently going back to the original ending in Part 2.
Once again, thank you, Antena 3.

martín being chaotic in the vol 2 teaser shows that he was always inherently the same, he just put his personal qualms to the side when the military was in the bank and threatened to kill all of them. he knew that they all needed to work as a team, and now that the threat of gandia and company are gone, he can reassert his leadership and his plan again. in whatever way he wants to. (gun to the head pew pew)
but i do feel like his arc is ultimately headed towards a decision between the gold and his teammates. i’m sure they might figure out a way to do both (escape safely and with the gold, otherwise the heist was for nothing). but despite that, i feel like martín still has to come to a realization about what really matters to him. a moment where he has to choose between fulfilling this plan he had concocted with a dead (not really) unrequited love, or saving and prioritizing the people he had grown to care about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
old martín berrote would never have equated the lives of these people with the gold he holds so dear. the fact that he had risked their lives before, freeing gandia just so he can have his way, shows that he didn’t care if they lived or died before, as long as his plan worked the way he wanted it to.
but now, even though he’s still insistent about the gold, he also iterates that he cares about their lives just as much. this is important to note. because if we remember, the only person martín ever put on the same level as his beloved plan was andrés himself.
martín once told sergio: “while it’s true i love your brother, i love the plan just as much.”
and another time, he said: “if it were me, andrés wouldn’t have died. i would have gone in and gotten him out, no matter the fucking cost.”
even though martín is acting like his usual dickish self, his words to monica already say so much about his character growth. he regrets what he had done before, that had led to nairobi’s death, and that’s why he promised helsinki he would do better. that he would stop actively hurting everyone just because he was suffering the loss of andrés.
and that’s exactly what he seems to be doing. he’s a bit more courteous to the gang — he tries his best to be. but when he gets pissed off, that same fire and passion is still very much inside him, igniting whenever he might need it to.
if anything, volume 5 adds a much needed layer of development for martín’s character, and is actually pretty consistent with how we left off with him in s4. i can’t wait to find out where they’re taking his arc next.

hey hey, I'll be offline until end of October or so ✨
take care <3
I also thought I'd leave you with a snippet from a WIP - a soulmate AU in which you see your soulmate leave golden fingerprints over the things they touch. I saw such a fic in another fandom and thought it sounded rather fitting for Berlermo.
****
He brings his fingers to a curl of Tatiana's hair, and Martín looks away. He always does, but it's never pointed. He looks away with practiced ease, as if simply following something with his gaze, momentarily distracted from the conversation at hand. He has had years and years to perfect this gesture, making his disdain and disappointment seem like nothing at all.
Once, Andrés watched Martín paint pictures over stolen items with those golden fingertips. He loved the way they made even the mundane look, but watching their powdery texture over priceless pieces of art and the unmistakable shine of gold on gold – that was what Andrés truly longed to see.
“What happened to your boyfriend, anyway? Carlos?”
“Juan,” Martín corrects, shrugging.
Andrés leans back in his chair and clicks his tongue to feign recognition, even though he can’t be certain they are speaking of the same boyfriend. He doesn't care. Martín's life is filled with these meaningless men, with their dull careers and muted aspirations. None of them would ever draw golden constellations on Martín's skin.
“He met his soulmate.”
“And?”
“And,” Martín echoes bitterly, “He broke off the engagement.”
Andrés hadn’t been aware there had ever been an engagement. How many rings has Martín held in his fingers, none of them coated with his golden fingerprints? How many has he held up to the light, willing his fiancé to see something that wasn’t there?
Does he tell them he has already found his match, or does he simply watch the light wash away from behind their eyes?
Does that make him feel marginally better about losing what he never truly had?
“He could have gotten to know the guy first, before doing anything stupid,” Andrés says, even though he has seen what meeting their soulmates does to people. It's like seventeen stages of grief, wrapped up in the fantasy of love. It brings out the worst in people.
Andrés only marries women who have already lost theirs.
“You think it was stupid?” Martín scoffs. “How kind. But not all of us operate by your ideals.”

i finished watching lcdp 5 and
i fucking LOVED IT, thank you.
The stuff from part 3/4 were really good in terms of the flashbacks between berlermo and the brothers and their trio as a whole, but the bank stuff back then was kind of draggy which sucked because the bank should have had the intense scenes.
But then along came part 5 volume 1 and HELLLL YES!!! The action was intense and thrilling. The stakes were high. The emotional moments were perfectly squeezed in between the scenes and they were all so potent. The ending was beautifully foreshadowed and Tokyo went out with fucking style. An absolute icon. (RIP BABYGIRL I CANT BELIEVE THEY TOOK YOU AWAY FROM ME WHEN WE WERE JUST STARTING TO GET ALONG. What injustice.)
Also, I CAN’T BELIEVE THE GANG FINALLY UNDERSTANDS THE MEANING OF TEAM WORK??? AHHH MY HEART. MY BABIES. MY RAGTAG BUNCH OF MISFITS.
Part 5 really made me appreciate the whole gang. I realize that I have my favorites of course, but I LOVE THEM ALL, okay. ALL OF THEM.
I will say though, that as much as I love Pedro, the Berlin flashback scenes were really odd and felt out of place. Sure it was FUN, but I couldn’t connect it to anything that was going on in the main heist, nor did it add any emotional depth to what was happening there (unlike Tokyo’s flashbacks where we learned more about her character and empathized with her RIGHT BEFORE THEY KILLED HER OFF lmao)
But I said this before, I honestly don’t care about Berlin’s son, and I was hoping the flashbacks were going to make me change my mind by seeing how it affects the whole story. But it DIDN’T, not at all. It felt like Andrés had his own thing going on that had NOTHING to do with the bank, which sucked seeing as how his flashbacks in parts 3/4 showed that this was the heist he loved the most. This was his obra maestra. This was the heist Sergio (and to a certain degree Martín), decided to do in order to honor his memory. And seeing him running around Copenhagen with his newly introduced son and sidecharacters he barely interacted with before, supposedly POST MONASTERY, without his brother or Martín? Well. Put that on the list of TOP 10 ANIME BETRAYALS.
I am hoping though that SOMEHOW they’ll tie his plot together with everything else and there will be payoff. But for now, I’m afraid to say that IN A SURPRISING TURN OF EVENTS, I liked the Berlin flashbacks the least. I still enjoyed them because of Pedro, but it was definitely the weakest link in the series. Sorry mi amooor.
ANYWAY, here are some of my favorite bits:
ANY SCENE WITH PALERMO. God damn, Rodrigo de la Serna steals every scene he’s in. He doesn’t just hit the mark, he OBLITERATES IT. His expressions, his eyes, the changes in his voice. Every tiny bit of micro acting he’s doing absolutely adds to the moment and he just fucking NAILS IT. My god.  It made me miss the energy he and Pedro had, bouncing and playing off each other in the previous season. Hoping to get a little bit of that soon before the show ends. UGHH i miss my boys
the gandia fist fight with Bogota was exactly the kind of chaos I’m into yes PLEASE
Palermo/Lisboa In-Laws Slash Co-Leaders Power Duo MORE OF THAT TOO PLEASE
i really liked Monica’s arc this season and I love her for shooting Arturo to near death. RIP to her but i won’t feel guilty lmaoooo. Esther Acebo really brought it this season DAMN
I liked the Tokyo flashbacks bc Miguel and Ursula are both hot RIP hot people
All of the Andrés scenes were thankfully in character and despite hating the plot, I loved seeing him be a petty, evil, chaotic bastard
Andrés insisting Tokyo be in the heist was hilarious because we ALL KNOW how THAT turned out
Manila’s backstory was touching!!! I didn’t like her trying to mess with Monver though
ALICIA’S LABOR LMAO I JUST -- It was also hilarious as hell ok.
Also Marsella is too sexy for his own good THERE I SAID IT
That bit when Tamayo mocked Angel by making weird noises. I was like “Mans has officially gone off the rails”
The hostage escape was stressful but It WAS FUN. TEAMWORK
Sergio saying Raquel is the sexiest woman in the world but he loves her for her brains. LMAO.
That scene where Sergio apologizes to the gang for being caught and his voice started cracking when he said “Lo Siento Palermo” MAYHAPS I SCREAMED.
Tokyo’s death scene. Definitely just as jarring as Nairobi’s but as awesome as Berlin’s. It was a shock but it felt well done to me.
I NEED VOLUME 2 NOWWWWWWWWWWWW
