Minecrafters Using Reference

Reference as in real world architecture, not other minecrafters' builds, though that's a fair way to learn too. Studying real world architecture gives insights about designing buildings, while studying other minecrafters would give insight into how to accomplish certain effects in Minecraft.

I didn't have more than passing interest in architecture before watching mcyt, but now whenever I'm outside, I'm evaluating the buildings around me. Do I like their shape? color? Any interesting details? Any wear or texture? And above all: How would you do that detail/shape/etc in minecraft? (please note: I don't even play minecraft)

Rendition and Inspiration

There's a minecraft project called BuildtheEarth that's replicating the earth in minecraft on a 1 to 1 scale. There's some fantastic builds on there.

On hermitcraft, Joe Hills is known for creating to scale renditions of real world places/objects. In season 10, he's tackled a project of massive scale with Bell Labs. He used a map from the library of congress to layout all the shapes!

These are examples of renditions/replicas/copies/whatever you want to call it (Although Joe's doubles as a community build area in place of massive parking lots).

Then there's using the buildings for inspiration. This may involve just taking bits and pieces. Or maybe you just take a color palette. Or maybe just the shape. Maybe you don't take anything but vibes. As a general rule, I think having multiple sources of inspiration is important so the new build doesn't end up feeling like a rendition instead of its own thing.

Bdubs in season 9 used the bakery from Kiki's Delivery Service as inspiration for his mud cafe. It can be seen in the wood framing, the stairs, the archway, the shape, the shed, the chimney designs. But the colors, the composition, Bdubs made changes that made it his own and combined the addition to his previous shop Moss o Menos.

The aesthetics of Geminitay's season 10 base is based on the video game Dredge. I feel like the most obvious influence is in her research castle and fishing boats. She used inspiration from the spooky sea creatures in the game to create a uniquely frightening angler shop.

In Pearl's Build a Day series, she did a week focused on real world places. Here's the one she designed after a countryside home in Australia (her home country):

Goodtimeswithscar in season 7, when starting Aqua Town, based his shop on old department stores:

I like looking at his Aqua Town builds in comparison to his Scarland Main Street facades, which draw additional inspiration from Disneyland:

I feel like, comparing the builds you can see how he's grown; he's learned new detailing tricks, found colors and textures that work better with the architecture style. The main street has a similar layout to Disneyland, but his buildings are all unique.

Mogswamp is working on a massive build that's based on architecture drawings from Renzo Picasso:

He's incorporating groin vaults from roman architecture too!

I think builders learning about existing architecture is so good. It can give them so many ideas to add into their toolbox. It reminds them of small details that give builds life, like small sheds, some pipes, porches. And the builds don't need to be realistic; My mind goes to work by Shovel and Joel. Or everything Mumbo has done in season 10.

How long does that potion last?

Hi! Here's a guide I wrote for how long Minecraft potions last in approximation with real time. This is for Java edition only, and hopefully will be useful in stuff like fanfiction.

For reference, a full Minecraft day is 20 minutes in-game. That's 10 minutes of daytime, 3 minutes of dawn/dusk, and 7 minutes of night. I will be equating 10 minutes of daytime = 12 hours of a real-life day. I'm calculating this via comparing percentages, so let me know if I have messed up the math. Potion times are from the wiki and instant potions such as healing or harming are left out for obvious reasons.

20-22 second potions: Potion of Slowness IV; Potion of the Turtle Master I and II; Potion of Poison II; Potion of Regeneration II

Lasts approximately 0.396 hours real-time, or 23 minutes and 46 seconds (for 20 seconds potion length)

Lasts approximately 0.9 hours real-time, or 54 minutes (for 45 seconds potion length)

Lasts 1.8 hours real-time, or 1 hour and 48 minutes

Tipped arrows, according to the wiki, last 1/8th the time of their corresponding potion if applicable. Since that might vary, I'm not going to calculate them all here.

DBHC TIMELINE[S]

This post is an extension of the DBHC Masterpost, linked also in my blog’s header/bio.

The images below feature two separate timelines: one for Hermitcraft Season 8, and one for Season 9. These timelines feature prominent/notable events that have been posted about, drawn for, written for, etc. Basically, every major post from this au has ended up/will go on the season timeline it belongs! 

Each event is labelled by the title it was given wherever it's linked elsewhere on the Master Post: in most cases, these posts are linked on their respective Character Post Lists. For Example, the post named 'Etho Tries Syncing with Bdubs' on the Masterpost will be labelled as such on the timeline. Additionally, each event is color-coded by character!

To avoid extreme clutter, I picked the most notable moments or events from each Character’s Post List that would serve as sufficient anchor points. You should be able to get a good overview of events and characters involved from these timelines, but all of the details and in-between moments or silly things are all on the individual character posts (links to which, again, can be found at the bottom of the primary DBHC Masterpost)!

Lastly! Like everything else on the Masterpost, I will do my best to update this regularly as any major moments or comics come out :] 

Additional Notes: 

Any grey-colored events on the timeline refer to events that have been referenced/discussed in some capacity but have no unique drawing, writing, or otherwise post dedicated to it (for example, Etho shutting down at the end of Season 8 is placed on the S8 timeline despite nothing being drawn for it yet). 

The black ticks throughout the timeline were marked for my own reference as indications of the IRL timeline of months throughout which videos were released, but they aren’t labeled as such, because I don’t headcanon time passing at the same rate in minecraft as it does in real life (i.e, Season 8 lasted about six months IRL, but I imagine it lasting about a year or so in canon, so it’s not 1 to 1). Basically, the ticks were placed as a guide for me as I continue to figure out where to put everything, but they’re not strict “monthly” markers or anything. 

Similarly, each Life Series is expanded slightly on their locations on the timelines, since I also headcanon time moving differently on the Life Series servers compared to Hermitcraft. From a Hermitcraft-side perspective, players are gone for approximately… 3ish weeks (give or take), whereas players actively participating on the Life server will have been gone for what feels like 2-3 months to them. It’s also not 1 to 1 here, so I just expanded the Life Series sections and then ticked them off by Session Number (Last Life having 9 ticks/sections, Double Life having 6 sections, etc). This makes placing any Life Series events accurately (while stuff is still happening on Hermitcraft) a little easier!

How tall are endermen?

In Minecraft, these guys are tall. There's no doubt. But let's talk about the real-life sizes of endermen across the Minecraft Universe! And for future reference, one Minecraft block is equivalent to exactly 1 meter!

The shortest of the enderlings (the watchlings and blastlings) are about 2.5 blocks in height. This means that they're around 8'2 feet in height. Kind of funny how even the smallest endermen are also really big.

Snarelings are about as tall as vanilla Minecraft endermen, making them 2.9 meters which translates to 9'6 feet tall.

Endermen in Minecraft Dungeons are even taller, being 3 and a half blocks tall. This makes them approximately 11'6 feet tall! They're giant!

The endersent are almost double this at a towering 6 meters tall. This means that they're about 19'8 feet in height! That's about the size of a 2 story house! Just its fist alone is over half the height of a player in its length.

Oh, but the Heart of Ender in its perfect form is just scary! It's 10 and a half blocks tall. That's 10.5 meters which translates to a height of 34'5 feet tall! It's towering!! That's around the size of a 3 story house! 3 floors worth of height! And the length of its lower body is 9.5 meters which makes it 31'2 feet in length!

Basically, these guys are huge. Even compared to the player, the smallest of them can leave your height feeling inadequate. Especially when you're in the End and even the tables are too big for you. lol

ive been thinking ab joel's final death sm since i watched his episode and im gonna get tism about it

Disclaimer that i DID realise some of this from another post but i cannot for the life of me remember who it was from aaa

SO! Lets look at all the other winners' deaths first. and lets take the context of minecraft out of this, esp for when we get to joel's Grian - Jumped off a cliff. Simple and effective, but also quick considering he was low health and had no armour. In a real life version, he probably would have broken his neck and died instantly Scott - Struck by lightning. I know technically it was the Watchers, but 'divine intervention' isn't exactly an IRL cause of death, nor are 'kill commands' from a non-story pov, so we'll stick with the lightning. ANYWAY, yes, lightning. In terms of death, it stops the heart. So, pretty fast, but definitely painful Pearl - Exploded. Once again, technically that's not her actual C.O.D but once again, soulmates do not exist (in the same capacity as DL, at the very least) in real life, so we're going with this. Because of how close Pearl was to Scott when he set off the TNT, she likely would've died from internal organ damage, possibly even having her heart muscle walls rupture, plus any additional damage from the schrapnel that no doubt wouldve hit her (although she definitely would've already been dead by that point). Alternatively, you could say she died of 'Heartbreak' (because her soulbound died), which I'd probably compare to a heart attack. While you can't say for certain how long the explosion death wouldve taken because of the variables, a heart attack has an upper limit, so to speak, of about 3-4 hours. Unless we're talking about Sudden Cardiac Death which is, as you might expect, instantaneous suspension of heart activity. It's pretty interesting that both of Pearl's death possibilities link back to her heart in some way in DL, but I digress Martyn - Same as Scott's lmao Scar - He's actually the only one, to my knowledge, who did not die. Which, again, is very interesting when you tie it back to his Earth (? i think? i forget lmao) association. hes not allowed to die

NOW we look at joel. Teleportation is, naturally, not a thing we can do irl (at least currently lmfaoo), so there's not an easy way to compare it like with the others. BUT that doesnt mean we can't do our damn best first, teleportation is what kept Joel alive for so long during part of the session. The fact that he uses the very thing that saved his life for so long to end it is just beautifully symbollic. not to mention the way he was laughing and making fun of his literal hunters as there were at least 5 or 6 people trying to kill him at any given point despite the fact that the entire episode he was nervous and worried about dying last minute is so painfully joel. but lets look at the actual contents of his death for a minute. Joel dies from fall damage after repeatedly throwing enderpearls into the air. He does not remove his armour for this and is at almost full health. He is, effectively, torturing himself. In minecraft, you can throw an enderpearl directly up into the air about 30 blocks. since he was throwing them forwards, as well, we'll say its only going up 25. that would still be 25 square metres, and almost 270,00 feet. but, obviously, we're taking liberties here because it's minecraft, so lets just say its 25 feet. Still, that is an insane number. That is half the length of a basketball court, the width of about four cars (on average) and four fridges (again, on average) stacked on top of eachother. And he does this (by my count) seven times in a row before dying. Everyone else died instantly in game, and more-or-less instantly from a real life standpoint, as well If that doesn't put in perspective how violent Joel's death was, i dunno what could

the pitch does assume you're basically already into mcrp and just curious about lifesteal in specific BUT we went to dsmp together so this works out

I really love shitty little tryhards causing problems via impressive feats of minecraft, and lifesteal is full of those. if you like people being good at minecraft, I really recommend lifesteal--in s2, clownpierce was top 50 worldwide at crystal pvp, and now he's washed and in s6 there are 2-3 (depending on who you ask) lifestealers who are better than him at pvp (admittedly maybe not at crystal); in s4, there's some stuff that's impressive in ~vanilla (eg parrot wins a 1v1 while on one heart) and some stuff that's impressive through exploits/social stuff (eg a group of people use a glitch + social engineering to get /op and prove to mojang that the glitch is a security issue that needs patched). every season is like this! lifestealers have backdoored the server 3 seasons in a row (s3-5). for a more recent weird Lifestealer Behavior, rekrap and jumper filled in every end portal room and built new fake ones to make it look like the world glitched and generated without them. lifesteal is weird and constantly coming up with new weird yet impressive things to do. a lot of stuff that's currently banned on lifesteal (F3+A, pie ray) are things i only learned were possible from lifesteal. (on the flip side i'd say: if you are not into shitty little tryhards making weird impressive clickbait, you probably won't like lifesteal, although you may still like hearing about it from time to time.)

related to them being shitty little tryhards causing problems: the rules are...more of a suggestion. getting around the rules, and hiding from the server owner and/or other players that you're doing so, is often part of the fun of lifesteal! (see also the thing where i mentioned that it's been backdoored three seasons in a row.) if that's intriguing: check it out. if not: once again, you have been warned.

lifesteal absolutely has lore and some people roleplay on it, there is nonzero c/cc divide, but it's more like traffic life than, say, late dsmp--it's fully improv, not scripted, and even more than traffic life it is genuinely adversarial. you can sometimes be confident that someone is in character but you can never be sure if someone is out of character, on lifesteal-- things like "going to someone's house irl to turn off their computer" or "lying about your homework/school/sleep schedule" or "changing your entire discord layout so that when you DM someone they think you're someone else" or "claiming you need their footage of an event for your video when actually you just want to see where their spawn point is" are all things that have been done on lifesteal that are considered fair game! everything on lifesteal is real; sometimes this goes well, sometimes it doesn't, but both are interesting to see imo because they are real

partially for this reason and partially for other reasons, lifesteal is fascinating to me as a piece of unique storytelling? a lot of mcyt is doing interesting things with its medium and being improv, lifesteal's not fully unique in that, but definitely if you like that you might like lifesteal. along with the improv, there's the fact that many lifestealers lie about what actually happened in their videos (comparing different videos with the vods, or in some cases with "what people say in various vods" when events weren't streamed, gives some fascinating insights imo--how do people frame their stories? how honest are they? what do they blatantly lie about, what do they gloss over or omit, what do they include in full? who, if anyone, do they see as the heroes or villains? whose videos agree with each other, and whose present a totally different story?), and the fact that conflict about "where do we want the story to go next, what do we think would be an interesting video/the best ending" is often the driving motive for in-character wars and conflicts! if you're interested at all in lifesteal and storytelling, check out barrier blocks part 2 by @mering/@myrmica, which is a deep dive on eclipse federation and the end of lifesteal s4 (those are my special guys); it dips into some academic game studies and it's really, really good. i genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough. (part one is also real good for non-lifesteal-specific discussion of mcrp!)

Alan Becker Theory: How Victim Returned

Ok so this is my first real Tumblr post, but basically I want to talk about the Animator vs. Animation series and its first and now most recent villain: Victim. More specifically, how he "returned" after seemingly being killed by the Animator at the end of his first appearance.

When we first saw Victim in AVA 1, he was deleted by the Animator. He closed the program without saving changes, without saving Victim onto anything, thus removing him from existence. Something like that seems pretty hard to come back from...

...but, 17 years later, he has come back without any scratch (besides turning gray).

Now, it's not the first time a character survived being deleted, but none of the previous examples are similar to Victim.

Orange survived being deleted by Task Manager and then stabbed by the Dark Lord's Vira-Blades, but he's clearly special in a way: from knowing a lot since creation to having superpowers that not even he knows of (until he saw a video of him killing a guy with them). He's far from a normal stick figure.

The Chosen One survived being hit by several code-erasing blades, but he's a superpowered being compared to the completely normal Victim.

Herobrine survived being deleted with the rest of Minecraft, somehow resurrecting several years later, but he's not even a stick figure, and another superpowered being that's arguably even weirder then Chosen.

So, how does the completely normal, powerless Victim survive being deleted with no superpowers or anything special about him?

It's simple. He didn't.

I'm not saying that Grey Dude is actually a burnt Dark or something, that was debunked and never made sense anyway. What I'm suggesting is that the AVA 6 Victim is not the Victim. Rather, he's a copy.

... well, a better word to use is recording.

Animation VS YouTube was always a weird entry, in my opinion. It somehow makes every entry in the series an actual video in-universe, it somewhat breaks continuity by having the Minecraft icon on the task bar, and it just gets weirder every time it returns (such as that one scene in Showdown). But, I think AVA 6 made it really important in hindsight.

While fighting YouTube, Green and Orange encounter a recording of the first AVA 1 and witness Victim's birth. In the climax, Green defeats YouTube by putting himself inside a video and destroying it from the inside, thus destroying the website's sentient avatar.

I think Victim came back in a similar way. Thanks to the Animator posting AVA 1 on numerous websites and it being reposted countless times, there are countless videos of Victim: thus, countless opportunities for a Victim recording to escape a similar way Green did. The AVA 6 Victim - let's call him Vic - is one of those: a recording that came to life and broke out. He's not the true Victim, just evidence that he once existed, but he has his memories and will continue his fight with the Animator.

But, there's an issue: Green entered a brand new video, he didn't record himself. A clear difference. Which is why I think Vic didn't escape his video by himself. Someone freed him. But, who?

Well, think about it. Who is Vic close to? Who is special and gets attention from IRL Alan, compared to the others? Who has the most important role in AVA 6, aside from the hollow-heads and RYGB?

Who does Vic trust so much, he puts his own life in their hands when entering the Box?

I think the Glasses Guy - let's call him Agent cause that's the best nickname I've seen - is the one who freed Vic. It would explain why Vic would trust him so much or why he'd get so much attention besides just "the villain's right hand who is badass".

I also think that Vic's trust in Agent is what will fuck him over in the end. That he will not be the final villain of AVA 6.

If you watch The Box closely, you'll see Vic is saved on the Box's files. Nothing special or surprising, right? I mean, he's in the Box, of course he'd be saved as part of it. But... Chosen is not.

In fact, none of the items on the list are inside the Box, aside from Vic. Not the sword, not the chains, not anything. But, they can still be summoned. Which means that the Box doesn't work like "You go inside it, you are part of its files": You need to be saved onto it, and once that happens, you can be summoned whenever one wants, even when you're not inside the Box. What does that mean?

That, at any point in time, Agent can clone Vic hundreds of times, as many as he needs. That Vic is replaceable.

I think that's the big twist of AVA 6: Vic will be killed by Agent sooner than anyone would think, allowing Agent to become the true villain and create a Vic Army. What is Agent's motive? Why did he bring back Vic, only to plan to kill him when he's no longer needed? Frankly, I have no idea. We don't know enough about him to speculate his motives. But, I know one thing:

Vic cannot escape who he is. That, behind the different color and the fancy company and the fact he's but a copy of the real deal, he is still Victim. And who is Victim?

A stick figure who was mistreated, killed and forgotten by a man with animation tools.

Here's my request the reader is a teenage girl and she's from a planet called Gastro-XV that's been the victim of a stellaron, and this planet's situation is much worse than Bellebog, the planet is nothing more than a huge desert now, and not only do the very few remaining survivors have to deal with fragmentum monsters, but also abominations of abundance, their weaponry is about the same as ours. Most of the people left on Gastro-XV believe in the phrase "Every man for himself". Ngl I was inspired by the pangea desert when I thought about it, and I got the idea of both fragmentum monsters and abominations of abundance by some modded Minecraft playthroughs. The reader has been taken in by Boothill and went to Penacony with him and Rappa during the 2.6 quest, the reader was especially interested in paperfold University because she's never been able to go to a real school.

𝐀 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫����𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫

Lights nearly blind you from every angle as you step onto Penacony, bright and beautiful. Being starstruck given what you’d grown up seeing; long stretches of nothing but dust occasionally broken up by various kinds of beasts looking only to kill all those who came close – compared to that, this might as well be a whole other universe all together.

“Don't get too distracted,” Boothill lightly chides, nudging you softly to get your attention, “we have a mission.”

“Right.” You reply, reigning yourself in as best as you can, still subtly glancing around to marvel at the lights and people, “Where’s Rappa?”

“She’ll meet us there, something about… monkeys? I think.” The cyborg furrows his brows, probably thinking back to said conversation with the Ninja. You don't question it, no use given what she's usually like.

You make your way to Paperfold Academy with a bounce in your step, eager to see what an actual school is like. Boothill doesn't chide you for the dreamy look in your eyes when you arrive,  letting you take your time looking around.

It’s bustling, as expected, but you’ve never seen so many people together like this, each one of them so different from each other. It messes with your head a little bit. To think that this sea of bright lights and joyous souls was once a desert planet, like yours.

Boothill’s caught up in some sort of nonsense conversion about bananas, unaware of you wandering off, eyes taking in everything around you or trying to, so many colors and sounds seem a little too much for you to absorb.

Before you know it, you find yourself in one of the academy halls, much more empty than the main plaza but still filled with people moving about, chatting amongst themselves about subjects you don't quite grasp. You wonder to yourself, how difficult would it be to enroll, just to see what a real class is like! Both Rappa haven't been very helpful with figuring it out, considering they too have never been in school and are much less interested in finding out what they’re like. Though you can't exactly blame them – their life goals have less than nothing to do with education in general.

The sounds of people mingling fade as you step deeper into the building, where the lights are dimmer and the halls are quieter – it gives you a chance to take a breath as adrenaline had begun filling your veins without your notice. Everything is just so exciting!

But Boothill’s right, you have a mission, you should find Rappa and– is that a monkey in a lab coat? 

A poster about one ‘Profnana’ catches your eye… though you’re unable to read much more beyond that. What a strange place. Still you sit there and try your best for some time – this is a place of learning, after all, you should try to improve your reading skill. 

Focused as you are, you don't notice the red eyes set on you from behind the corner, watching, observing, “...You will make a great actor.”

Suddenly, a wave of unpleasant memories from before Boothill had taken you in floods your mind so viciously that you’re left scrambling for a grip against the wall in front of you, breathing heavy and heart rate accelerated.

Before you’re able to even question what is happening, the feeling is gone and a hand lands softly on your shoulder – it's Rappa. Her lips are moving but you only catch the end of her sentence, “--you ok?”

It takes you several seconds to nod, flashes of the scalding sun upon your skin and the dirt under your nails staining your mind long after the moment has passed.

You ask her where Boothill is, she says he's gone already, starting his part of the plan – you barely register her words.

Eyes watch you both from the shadows as Rappa launches into one of her ninja speeches that you barely pay attention to.

Yes… what a wonderful actor you’ll make.

A long response but I had some things to say:

1: "I'm not an anti but..." proceeds to call fanart of fictional characters pedophilic and equates fanart and people who draw it to actual literal child molesters who hurt and legitimately groom literal children despite people, including victims and organizations who deal with this, kindly asking people to not do this because misusing and watering down terms and making light of serious things like this harms more people than fanworks of pixels.

2. This response completely missed the point of what they're responding to. First of all, fanworks are not comparable to literal groomers so bringing them up takes away from your point and makes others not take you seriously because it shows you don't know what you're talking about. Lastly the other person didn't say this stuff doesn't exist "at all", they said it's not the big epidemic antis are trying to claim it is, because it's not.

3. Fandoms were built on these kinds of works along with the "non-icky" works. People have been creating and enjoying these kinds of works since long before you or I were born. It didn't increase the amount of predators in the world because that's not how it works. People didn't go out to harm kids because someone wrote or drew AkatsukiShipping (Dawn x Cyrus). Attacking people for shipping it doesn't make you a hero, it makes you an asshole. These works have always and will always exist. If you truly want to protect children, go after legitimately harmful things. Why aren't you condemning streamers and social media then? From what you said, it has more to do with the platform than fandom stuff and subject matter. Again, their grooming is more connected to social media than fandom stuff.

5. You know what else has groomers? Education, a lot of groomers I see are revealed to be teachers. Hollywood, actors and celebrities are shown to be horrible people. Religion and the wealthy. Why aren't you condenming them? I hear about more groomers outside of fandom spaces than I do in them. If you think it's a widespread problem then stop looking for it and stop only looking at that type of content. I've heard about all the Minecraft groomers too but it's still not a huge number, it's not an epidemic.

That's why we say antis are making up problems that don't exist. Because they are. Because they think ships reflect your morals and are more concerned about the equivalent of a pebble with big googly eyes than people, including kids. You're rarely going to find predators by looking at what people ship or who they simp for, and if you do it's because they're hurting a real person, it doesn't relate to the fiction they like. But antis don't care. They don't want to try to solve real problems. They just want to control what other people do. So they'll make up a problem in an attempt to accomplish that. Hi. I don't know if anyone has asked this question yet. But it seems like the time in your story is the same as in real life. But players don't age! However, they grow up from children.. Is there a limit to the stage of development and growth in your world? Then how old are the main characters? Such as Bravo, Timmy, Tango, Jimmy, Patho (you said he is a very old player, but they describe him as relatively young) and Atlas. I'm just curious to know their real and physical age (that is, what they look like). Of course, I would also be glad to hear the ages of the secondary characters, if you don't mind. That would be cool!

ah, so i’ve gotten into this over various chapters and asks here on tumblr but i don’t mind going over it again though i’m not sure how much clearer it’ll make things.

players spawn into existence at an age that we would consider to be about 5 years old. from the moment they spawn, they can walk and talk. in-game, it’s like baby villagers. most players spawn on private homeworlds, but can occasionally spawn in on multiplayer worlds (mini game hubs more commonly, and hels is the major exception). then they grow at a normal rate until they gain access to inter-world travel via their communicators (usually around the teenage stage).

every player will continue to age up until a certain point, and then they stop physically aging. for some, it’s shortly after the teenage stage, but others can age for decades after that. it’s completely random. socially, any adult player is considered to be in the same category, whether they physically appear 20 or 50. chronological age isn’t super important, either. a player that has lived for 30 years is considered just as much of an adult as one that’s lived for 200.

now, the reason i don’t like to give specific ages is because i don’t really have a solid timeframe for my minecraft universe. i like the idea of it feeling ageless. i can’t compare it to how long minecraft has existed irl cuz that’s like, only 16 years. i can’t make it match our real life world cuz that’d be billions of years, which just feels wrong. so i do sort of a hand-wavey “really really old” deal. also, the fact that everyone starts out looking 5 years old sorta complicates the situation.

so like, for example. tango was a young adult at the time he escaped hels tek and joined hermitcraft, which was about 10 years before the current time of the story. so let’s say tango appeared ~18 at the start (meaning he had actually only lived for 13 years, because he spawned in at about 5. 18-5=13), then one decade later, he would be chronologically 23. he also appears around this age because he has stopped physically aging at this point. this is the same case for bravo; counterparts spawn at the same time and stop aging at the same time. but in another 10 years, tango will be chronologically 33 and still appear to be in his 20’s.

complicated, you see. so in terms of physical age, i just go off of mel’s art. for chronological age, i’m afraid i don’t have exact numbers for you. every character in HTP is an adult, and the details beyond that aren’t important to them (AKA once i go past tango’s lifetime, it all gets fuzzy).

important notes: - this is going off of vanilla minecraft 1.21 (trial chamber update)! - minecraft mobs that are based on real animals in our world (pigs, sheep, chicken, cow, fish) are fictional creatures based on pokemon in the pkmn world! fantasy mobs (blaze, enderman, sniffer, drowned, guardian, creeper) are just more fictional creatures. - the champions have a private minecraft server together, though they are usually very busy and are almost never on at the same time. except for the off-season for each region's league or the annual in-person champion get-together they do. they reset the server every 2-ish years.

Lance || Awkward Builder * He never had a chance to play video games growing up, so was only recently introduced to the game by his fellow champions. has since grown to adore it! * Is very awkward about playing the game in his free time, doesn't want anyone to know that the Great Dragon Master is playing a silly block game. * Is one of the main builders on the server actually! he's never been an artsy person but found that he enjoys creating structures that breathe life into the server, filling otherwise empty spaces. * Lance doesn't do mega builds since he never would have time to finish them, but has done a few long-term projects over the course of the different seasons. one such project was when he built houses in the traditional style of each city in johto and later did the same for kanto. * Enjoys playing at a casual pace, not too fast but not too slow either. usually starts building before he's all geared up even. will sometimes go back to those early builds later on a spruce them up with fancier materials if he has time.

Steven || Redstone Guy * One might think Steven would be all about mining in the game titled minecraft... but he actually despises gathering resources! what makes going caving fun for him in the real world is the sense of discovery, of wonder, of working hard to carefully dislodge a rare stone he's been looking for. Caves in minecraft feel way too unrealistic for his tastes and he just can't find the same joy in partaking in his hobby in a video game compared to the joy of doing such in the real world. * also, he's terrified of creepers-- thinks they are the worst with their destructive abilities. he often finds himself wishing he could have his pokemon team in the game so they could deal with the hostile mobs for him. * Steven most often finds himself making creative redstone projects, games or challenges for his fellow champions to partake in whenever they have the time to log onto the server. * He's not an // expert // with redstone, but he understands comparators so he's doing better than most of the playerbase! enjoys improving his skills by making his own designs for farms, challenging himself to make it as efficient as possible. * plays at a pretty slow pace in the early game, taking the time to explore the world and stuff before picking a spot 14k blocks out to build his underground lair. the project he always does first thing once he's fully geared up is make a bunch of puzzles and clues to lead those who wish to find his base on a wild goose chase around the server. Cynthia was so good at this game, finding his base within a week of him opening the puzzle course that Steven banned her from the the challenge.
