What have you done?
based on an idea @username8746489 had where sylvie discovered nightmare fuel for the first time on accident while getting bullied by some older kids (and pushing him further into social isolation now that he's known as "that scary kid who could summon someone's worst fear")
#♦️charlie's art#epithet erased#sylvester ashling#sylvie ashling#ok i have a lot to yap about here hold on#this was a challenge to make since i was imagining it with no dialogue and limited colors i hope i pulled it off#because of those two things something i had to think a lot about was how the color progression changes the mood#I wasn't originally gonna add that last panel with the aftermath but un suggested the idea of the bullies being vague shadowy figures#initially until sylvie realizes what he did and is forced to see that “that was a real person with their own fears and insecurities”#so then they're drawn more detailed#sylvie and the bullies also aren't in the same panels together until the last one because he's just so below them that he isnt worthy of#sharing equal space with them. these kids are highschoolers. if sylvie wants to look at them he'll always have to look up#and also because i was struggling with their height difference#i hope the second page doesn't make it look too much like sylvie summoned a fire 😭 it kinda helps with the mood but what he summoned is#supposed to be ambiguous and i dont want it to look like i was born yesterday and think nightmare fuel ONLY summone fire#but its hard to make it NOT look like fire when i can only work with orange#the lineart starts out clean and gets messier as the conflict progresses to represent a lack of control#and also it creates kind of a shakey/unstable effect which emphasizes sylvie's fear#also unintentional but i think the second page having detailed shading emphasizes the mood changes. this just got SERIOUS#oh also i used the mizu5 untrained as a color reference thats fun#ALSO SYLVIE DIDN'T KILL ANYONE im just realizing the one curled up in the last panel could be interpreted that way#that's not what i was going for#this might be unrealistic...... but we also know so little about sylvie's backstory that who's to say for sure IDK LET ME MAKE MY FAV SUFFER

I know the concept of more supernatural/paranormal elements is cool but it will never stop being funny to me that in every series ever, when a ghost shows up the main characters have to do rituals & research the history of the haunted item or house or even whole town & use specific items like salt & incense & talisman to banish the ghost all dramatically & supernaturally, but in Danny Phantom this kid just shows up with nothing but his fists, a thermos, & pent up aggression. put em the fuck UP, you ectoplasmic son of a—

i know the whole "do you think jon ever used his powers to Know what his parents looked like" thing is far more devastating than this but what if he tried using his powers to remember original sasha? jon and sasha always seemed closer than the rest, he picked her (and tim) to work with him and tolerated a lot more nonsense from her than anyone else (using his password to access his computer [161], debating his pronunciation of calliope [25], etc)
and ofc jon and martin became significantly closer as the podcast went on, but in the beginning he was cruel to martin when he gave a statement but accepting of sasha? idk i think their friendship was a lot deeper than we realized (ESPECIALLY since his first murder in season 5 was because NotThem provoked him about sasha) and i think jon wouldve used his powers to Know the original sasha, not sure if it wouldve worked though
so so sorry to distract from the post but can yall read the tags for me because i suffered immensely for this post

you know what i've been thinking about... any gay ship that even vaguely hits the sunshine x grumpy trope, like really, really broadening what that means but any ship where one dude is a bit more repressed (or even just shy) or dour or even just has a more muted/darker color palette (darker hair, clothes primarily) while one is more expressive or happy or bright...
typically the "grumpy" is seen as gay and the "sunshine" one is seen as bi. hell, if the sunshine one is vibrant enough, he's now not even bi but pan

god the way ghost's voice drops when he tells soap, "you'll need to improvise to survive"
before that, everything he says is steady but when he acknowledges that soap'll have to do something outside his skill set, something he intimately knows to be difficult, his voice wavers
and soap does the same thing
when he's calling out for ghost on the radio, he's tentative, testing the frequency, then he's desperate; "ghost, this is 7-1, do you copy?”
then when ghost answers, he smooths out his voice; he hides the pain, the fear
they both try to hide things from the other to reassure them that they're alright, that they'll both get out alive
#how many times have i watched the alone mission and im still finding new things#he does the same when he says ‘welcome to guerrilla warfare’#its sombre and serious in a way he doesnt act for the rest of the mission#he keeps soap going#poking at him and making jokes#giving him tips and asking about his progress#he never lets him stop and take a second to think bc he knows the moment he does is the moment itll all hit him and he’ll get overwhelmed#by the betrayal by the pain the fear the deaths all of it will hit him and if that happens soap wont make it#he needs him to be a soldier through and through and he knows this is one of the worst kinds of battlefields you could end up on#and the only times he slips is when he acknowledges that fact#it happens again when he says ‘tryin to get you here alive and in one piece’#his jovial dark humour facade drops for just a moment when he has to face the potential reality of losing soap#and then he tries to pick it back up again with ‘one of us has to survive to tell the tale’#completely discounting himself as a survivor to try and rally soap#and soap who lets himself be poked and prodded towards the church needs to hide his own doubts#maybe he needs ghost to believe he’ll make it so he’ll believe it#‘what are my odds?’ ‘dont make me bet against you’ ‘think i’ll make it that long?’ ‘probably not’#hes all but begging him to tell him he’ll get through it#and if ghost knows just how bad off he is maybe he’ll change his mind#maybe he’ll think he won’t make it to the church. maybe he’ll leave him alone for good#‘you injured?’ ‘im good’ ‘lets find out how good you are’#coming out of my cage and ive been doing just fine.txt#soapghost#ghostsoap#soap cod#john soap mactavish#ghost cod#simon ghost riley#we’re a team. ghost team
