One day, Pierce is minding his own business, just being a Kentrosaurus, living his best Kentrosaurus life.
The next, he's a father of two for some reason.

Isn't there a spider that raises tiny frogs to protect them?
yeah!!! the frogs protect the spiders eggs (eats bugs that would predate on the eggs) and gets protected in turn <3

I ran into an Erenville RPer in game today who would give out animal facts if you asked and they did give Arsay a fact it was a very cute interaction but it did remind me of the opening of dawntrail when Wuk lamat asks how far they were from the shore, and upon seeing sea birds I knew Arsay would respond that the birds meant they were close to shore only for Erenville to pop up like a second later and said the very same thing. It was such a cute little moment for me.

i just found out that some spiders in the amazon rainforest are said to keep frogs as companions because they can mutually benefit each other with the spider protecting the frog, and the frog eating any insects that might threaten the spider's eggs, and i will never be the same again. now who's about to be misao's companion like the frogs in the amazon are to spiders and maybeee have her take on a maternal role, or sister role towards them because she feels indebted to them at first since they helped HER / are helping her... though who'll have misao just end up protecting them in the same stretch at some point just because she actually grows quite close to them 😭

Wait, which animals raise livestock?
Several species of ants will 'herd' aphids around (a type of plant lice)- even picking them up and putting them back with the group if they wander off. The ants will attack anything that approaches their aphid herds, defending them. The aphids produce a sugary excretion called honeydew, which the ants harvest and eat.
Some ants will even 'milk' the aphids, stroking the aphids with their antennae, to stimulate them to release honeydew. Some aphids have become 'domesticated' by the ants, and depend entirely on their caretaker ants to milk them.
When the host plant is depleted of resources and dies, the ants will pick up their herd of aphids and carry them to a new plant to feed on - a new 'pasture' if you will.
Some ants continue to care for aphids overwinter, when otherwise they'd die. The ants carry aphid eggs into their own nests, and will even go out of their way to destroy the eggs of aphid-predators, like ladybugs.
--
Microhylids – or narrow-mouthed frogs - have an interesting symbiosis with Tarantulas.
While the spiders could very easily kill and eat the much-tinier frogs, and DO normally prey on small frogs, young spiders instead will use their mouthparts to pick up the microhylid frogs, bring them back to their burrow, and release them unharmed.
The frog benefits from hanging out in/around the burrow of the tarantula, because the tarantula can scare away or eat predators that normally prey on tiny frogs, like snakes, geckos, and mantids. The tarantula gets a babysitter.
Microhylid frogs specialize in eating ants, and ants are one of the major predators of spider eggs. By eating ants, the frogs protect the spider's eggs. The frogs can also lay their eggs in the burrow, and won't be eaten by the spider.
So it's less 'livestock' and more like a housepet - a dog or a cat. You stop coyotes/eagles from hurting your little dog/cat, and in return the dog/cat keeps rats away from your baby.
--
Damselfish grow algae on rocks and corals. They defend these gardens ferociously, and will attack anything that comes too close - even humans. They spend much of their time weeding the gardens, removing unwanted algaes that might overtake their crop.
The species of algae that they cultivate is weak and and sensitive to growing conditions, and can easily be overgrazed by other herbivores. That particular algae tends to grow poorly in areas where damselfish aren't around to protect and farm it.
Damselfish will ALSO actively protect Mysidium integrum (little shrimp-like crustacians) in their reef farms, despite eating other similarly sized invertebrates. The mysids are filter feeders, who feed on zooplankton and free-floating algae, and their waste fertilizes the algae farms. Many types of zooplankton can feed on the algae crop, and the mysids prevent that.
While Mysids can be found around the world, the only place you'll find swarms of Musidium integrum is on the algae farms that Damselfish cultivate.
Damselfish treat the little mysids like some homesteaders treat ducks. Ducks eat snails and other insect pests on our crops, and their poop fertilizes the land. The ducks can be eaten, but aren't often, since they're more useful for their services than their meat.
--
There are SEVERAL species of insect and animal which actively farm. They perform fungiculture and horticulture: deliberately growing and harvesting fungus and plants at a large-scale to feed their population.
Leaf-cutter ants and Termites both chew up plant material and then seed it with a specific type of fungus. The fungus grows, and the termites/ants harvest the mushroom as a food source.
Ambrosia beetles burrow into decaying trees, hollow out little farming rooms, and introduce a specific fungii (the ambrosia fungi), which both adults and larval beetles feed on.
Marsh Periwinkles (a type of snail) cultivates fungus on cordgrass. They wound the plant with their scraping tongue, then defecate into the wound so their preferred fungus will infect it and grow there. They let the fungus grow in the wound a bit, and come back later to eat.

Tarantula x “pet” frog reader
[this one’s a little short so I’ll write a full one where reader babysits the kids as well]
Tumblr media
The two actually met in high school when reader was being bullied. It started off as a transactional relationship, reader would bring Tarantula Yan leftovers, and in return, Yan would provide a hiding spot under their legs whenever the reader needed to run away.
After high school, they went their separate ways, but Tarantula Yan always missed the little frog who was so dependent on them. Yan became a successful businessman at a well-known company and had two children, but never got married. Meanwhile, reader fell deeply into debt with loan sharks, struggling to make ends meet by working multiple jobs. This is how they crossed paths again.
yan just couldn’t say no to the scared little thing, reader was practically begging to be looked after.
Tarantula Yan saw this as the perfect opportunity, reader could babysit their kids, and now they would have the reader all to themselves. Yan would pay for everything and take care of all their needs. It was even better that their kids genuinely liked the reader.
Won't you stay with them and make them the happiest tarantulas in the world? It's not like you have a choice really, their legs may be a safe space to hide, but they're also a cage.

Is frogs were wizards, what kind of magic would they have?
Look, I think the Basic™ answer is that frogs belong to the Transmutation school of magic because, hello, metamorphosis, but galaxy brain herpetologists know that more than a quarter of all frog species don't have tadpoles.
Toxicologists could tell you of the venomous species that can deliver a real Shocking Grasp that leaves you with Burning Hands—mainstays of Evocation magic.
Ecologists will tell you frogs are pivotal mesopredators and those with tadpoles occupy two trophic niches over their lifespans—classic Abjuration magic.
Some field biologists will tell you how hard it is to find some frogs, even when they are calling from immediately in front of you—archetypal Illusion shit.
Other field biologists might tell you that sometimes frogs start calling a few minutes before the rain actually comes. Obvious hallmark of Divination school.
Conservation biologists will tell you that some species that were declared Extinct or likely Extinct have been rediscovered recently, so I suspect at least some are from the Necromancy school
Behavioural ecologists might tell you that some frogs have familiar pet tarantulas (Big Spider want you to think it's the tarantulas keeping the frogs as pets, but don't be taken in by their biased lies). You want to tell me that they're not Conjuration wizards?
But Frog Fans (Frans) will tell you they belong to the Enchantment school, because hearteyesmotherfucker.gif. I mean, they somehow got you following me, right?

So I will be taking no comments and no critiques but
I watched the latest episode of Helluva and I noticed something fasinating.
So Fizz's nickname is 'Froggie' which honestly correlates with the fact that biblically the animal associated with greed is a Frog; because of it's ability to live on both land and water making it flexible (and greedy in the eyes of others rather than settling for just one environment.)
Meanwhile we look at Mammon in his final stage 3rd Form Boss mode
Tumblr media
He is a Spider. (which tbh I thought he was a grub at first, cause a money grubber. get it?) Which makes sense given how Spiders work.
They cast out a large web to catch as much as they can with as little effort as possible. (much like a sleezy manager) They are viewed as manipulators, making things work for them.
But what I think is fun is that-
Frogs and Spiders have a real-world symbiosis.
Tumblr media
Tarantulas will keep small frogs as PETS to protect their nest and eggs from other invading bugs.
Which I feel like reflects on Mammon and Fizz's relationship not as a father figure/manager and son/talent-but as an owner and their pet.

BISHOP DESIGNS :D
Actually terrified to post this at first
This started as me REALLY wanting to learn how to draw Kallamar and then I thought: lets make all the bishops :D
I ended up disregarding previous drawn designs somewhat (Leshy) bc I wanted to add little details.
(design notes under cut)
For Kallamar I looked up "squid" and just went with it. I struggled so hard on him.
Heket I drew second and I mainly wanted to base her off of a poison dart frog.
Leshy is Leshy.
Shamura is probably the one I spent most of my time on. I based them off of @ghosts-and-glory 's design - because it's my favorite and a big part of why I actually got tumblr lol. I did look up spider faces and immediately regretted it - I went for a mix of tarantula and mainly jumping spider in the end bc I added floof due to them having hairs in their game design. I decided to make their injury more gnarly and will make a short comic off of those injuries too.
Can you tell which one was my favorite LOL
Shamura is probably the one design Ill keep changing tho - since it's still heavily based on preexisting designs.
Hope you guys like them 👉👈

A headcanob I have is specifically for Dragons, you know all the Fairy tales of Dragons guardiang Princesses?
I like to imagine that back when human existed that they had somekind of symbiotic relationship with Draconic creatures, they get yo be protected by them and in return the humans would keep peace between their other life hoard, cook them meals, offer handmade jewels, ect
This in turn evolved Draconic creatures to be naturally more drawn to any Human who is near them.
Another headcanon I have is that Packbounding is barely understood by most Creatures of Twisted Wonderland, since human literally can packbound with anything...Even robots or animals
I love it!
I was intending to have Malleus be the only weirdo dragon that hoarded live creatures, but if I were a dragon I would hoard all friend-shaped creatures too, so it would make sense that even the Thorn Fairy would hoard these soft little Humans for her own sake. It would make sense Malleus is just doing as his ancestors did and decided the soft Human he found was now his despite knowing very little about Humans. It would also explain the mythos of Dragons kidnapping Humans for their hoards and being so territorial about protecting them. (All I can think of now is those burrowing Tarantulas that keep little frogs as pets and protect them so the frog can keep the tarantulas eggs safe from smaller bugs).
Pack Bonding in Humans is absolutely misunderstood by everyone in Twisted Wonderland because Humans are mostly misunderstood by those in Twisted Wonderland. Humans are the equivalent of Dodos to most. I myself am rather bonded to my phone, the strange red giraffe plush I won from a claw machine, and most of my stuffed animals. I will cry hysterically over the loss of any of them despite being 25+ and 'too old' for stuffies.

School had been kicking my ass making me unable to draw but I’ve graduated now. We’re so back!
As an apology I’ll show some WIP’s I’d been using as stress relief; (gore warning?)
A ghost sketch in which I (tried to) study human anatomy through art. I’m planning to render it as if you’re looking through night vision goggles.
Tumblr media
This one’s a REALLY rough sketch based on the symbiotic relationship between certain tarantulas and frogs (did you know they work/live together? I for sure didn’t!). I had some trouble conveying them as anthropomorphic creatures. I feel as though Simon doesn’t truly look like a spider and Johnny not like a frog (they vaguely look like aliens?) so I’m not sure if this one will ever be finished but I am still in love with the concept.

sketchy concepts i did for the bishops as chidlets 😼 i have some ideas for each of their backstories, what their childhoods were like and how they got their crowns etc. which i was gonna include in the drawing but i wanna continue brainstorming first before i make any posts about it 😤🙏🏻
also sneaking on this drawing i did before i had come up with what i wanted the bishops' past lore to be like so it's not accurate to my current ideas BUT it's based on those frogs that team up with tarantulas to protect each other 😭🫶🏻
