People hate on Elliot for kissing you on the 8 heart event, BUT when Emily goes kissing people who barely have hearts with her thats fine, thats just okay.
When Clint stops hangingbout with Emily after you marry/date her, thats bad, But when Sebastian does it? thats fiiine.
When anyone pulls you out from the mines and your stuff goes missing, Thats fine, But when Linus does it? Thats nuhuh, Obviously he's stealing.(ITS THE DWAAAARF)
Stardew Valley fandom is full of hypocrisy, and I don't stand for it. this is just to name afew, I've noted alot of hypocrisy in the name of defacing certain characters. but i won't go into it.

down with the "man of faith vs man of science" dichotomy.
up with "the man from tallahassee and the man behind the curtain and the man of faith and the man of science".
i think it's high time we acknowledged the HUGE role Ben Linus and, sadly, Anthony Cooper play in the shaping of the "science vs faith" debate.
#incidentally this would make sawyer an important piece in the debate as well#not saying the show goes there exactly. just suggesting to broaden the discourse because. over time#it has become a little sterile. like. in 2025 we can admit that jack vs locke dichotomy is still cool af#but also. there are other important players in-between them#most notably ben linus. there is no science vs faith discourse without ben linus#AND therefore without cons and betrayals.#what i'm trying to say is that con men are a vital element in the show that.like. we need to take into account#lost#lost 2004#lost abc#lost tv series#abc lost#lost rewatch#james sawyer ford#benjamin linus#john locke#jack shepard#anthony cooper

off topic but if anyone who sees this watches linus tech tips i'd recommend you unsub and never support them again
atrocious fucking treatment of a female employee- harassment, physical and verbal abuse, belittlement, no unbiased HR team to do anything about it
misrepresented a small startup company and then sold their prototype when they were supposed to return it
monetized the apology video
some of the most disgusting behavior ive seen. fucking embarrassing

Okay, I was seeing some discourse on whether House In The Cerulean Sea / Somewhere Beyond The Sea is set in the UK-ish or the USA-ish and I’ve been thinking about it and I’m weighing in!
I think it’s set in the UK-ish and here’s why:
(These are mostly examples from SBTS because I just finished that one)
- they take the train to the seaside. The train.
- The children make Linus breakfast for his birt that includes beans and mushrooms.
- Linus mentioned loosing a “stone”
- there were mentions of Prime Ministers
- there were mentions of kings of the past.
This concludes my list of evidence coming from a person who’s from the USA and is only noticing the bits that made me go “huh, sounds British”. I wonder if there are bits in there that would make a person from the UK go “huh, sounds American”

Random thoughts and feelings after viewing 28 years later.
Spoilers ahead. Also, this is WAY longer than I thought it would end up...
Random late night thoughts ahead. You are warned that this is disjointed and completely coming from the top of my head at this moment as I think about the movie.
I'm not a film critic, but I enjoy movies and TV series, especially ones where I have no idea where the plot is going, and are unique in filmography and style.
And my god, did I LOVE the style that this was shot and directed in. The first half of the movie, with the scene cuts, the comic style bow shot kills, the disjointed chase scenes with that soundtrack? 10/10. I was so into the world building, the aesthetic, just how different of a horror / zombie flick this was. It really felt original, but also paying homage to the original 28 days later movie.
I can understand why there have been some discourse over the second half of the movie, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it even with the tone shift. I did not expect to be moved at all by this movie. I felt like the underlining theme was just love and empathy. Following Spike's realization that his Dad might not be who he had hero worshiped in his mind, this led into the later half of the film. Spike has a soft heart, and even when his dad (I thought ATJ was brilliant btw) is screaming at him to kill the infected, you see the conflict inside him. He doesn't want to kill just to kill. And as the movie flips from Dad / son dynamic to Mom / son dynamic, you see where that soft empathic side has stemmed from. Although his mom is not well, and confused (and even seen to anger quick and not at all shy at throwing insults), at her core, she is just as soft and empathic as Spike. Instead of viewing the infected as things that need to be killed, underneath that, they are also just going about life the ONLY way they know how (killing people, yes, but also creating families, having connections amongst themselves? – how crazy did I feel when I started to feel sorry for the slow low family that gets killed in the first 10-15 mins of the movie – call me sensitive, I know I am!).
That shift of empathy further solidifies itself when Isla helps the preggo infected give birth (I'm with Erik on this, WTF is going on here!?), but it was also kind of oddly beautiful in a way? And then of course the real tear jerker at the end with Isla's death, and realizing that death is just a part of life, and that we're all meant to die someday and that in itself can be celebrated. Giving her the chance to claim her own life how she wants is somewhat beautifully done considering they're in a quarantined infected block of isolated land.
Holy did I not think that I'd ramble on this much over a ZOMBIE movie. But here we are.
I was vibing the whole day knowing I'd see Edvin on the big screen (no joke, I think I have a problem – I know I do...) and the moment he entered the screen, I am so biased in saying this, but I loved him from the first words out of his mouth (ugly fuckers!). The more I think of it, I'm more in love with his nuanced facial expressions than his lines. He is SO good at showing emotions through his face with zero words. He came across as SUCH a little hot headed WTF am I doing here character which I thought was such a great contrast to the characters we've already gotten to known and who grew up in this world. Erik (Edvin), is quite litterally thrown onto this piece of land that he knows is quarantined and he will now be stuck here untill his dying days. Through him, we understand now that the outside world is just the same as our current world. I can't get over how well he played the jaded fml character trop that was kind of representative of the audience (Where is Wille, where is linus, or strand? Not here). He had so many good lines – his delivery about his best friend Felix and how he should have been a delivery driver, to his "why do does she keep calling you dad?" quips. So so so well delivered. The only time the audience in my theatre laughed. I loved being able to share that experience with random strangers and think in my head, "fuck yes, Edvin, get those laughs!"
And the ending, quite honestly left me with a "WTF" moment, but I kind of loved it? Again, I'm a person who LOVES movies that can throw me for a loop as long as it fits the theme of the movie, so this was kind of a nice unexpected turn of events. I'll 100% watch the next instalments (maybe not in theatre, but defs on streaming).
Does the script have plot holes? Absolutely. But I'm kind of okay overlooking it because I was never pulled out of the world the movie build oddly enough. There's a little bit more disbelief and whimsical way about this movie that I can forgive a few of the plot holes – and I'm usually pretty negative when something seems way too far fetched in a movie context compared to the real world – but I was never pulled out of the world here which I think helped.
Overall, I think I'd give it a solid 4/5 rating. And in my biased little heart, I'm so, so, so happy that Edvin got to be a part of this movie experience.

Every time I see the stardew valley fishing mini-game discourse, I always remember how the first time I got my friends to play stardew valley with me (only one of them ever playing it before), they all sucked at the fishing mini-game (except veteran player friend) and kept complaining about it and me and other friend just told them to just keep trying and they'll get better eventually. One day, it seemed like they had enough of sucking the whole week and decided to take matters into their own hands.
I wake up at like almost 5 in the morning and find that they're all still awake in discord and their status looked like they were playing sdv which wasn't out of the ordinary because we would spend hours late at night playing together so I didn't thought much of it so I joined call to see if they wanted to load up the co-op farm because I hosted it. Turns out, they didn't need me to load up the farm because they were already in another farm training their fishing skill.
I walk in to the discord call with all of them on a beach farm with cabins dotted around near different points of interest with water, being taught by my veteran sdv player friend the ways of getting gud at fishing but that's not the most random thing about this. No, that would totally be normal. The weirdest thing is that they all had this whole uniformed get-up where they all had different colored mohawks and apparently had been fishing every single day until they nearly pass out each night and refuse to go to any of the town events. They were just. fishing.
Day in and day out, just wake up, get to the nearest body of water and fish. The only person they've ever talked to was Wily and the only place in town they ever go to regularly is just the fishing spots and never interact with any of the other members of the town. Just fish.
Of course, I did what every sane person would do at 5 am in the morning and joined them fishing. After I joined, we ended up making lore, and so it was established that all four of us was in a nearly-isolated fishing cult that only came to town after one of our members' grandfather passed away and gave the farm. It was amazing. We would wake up, fish, put everything in the shipping bin, then go back to sleep. Often times, in the nearest bed which was in a trailer cabin where all four of us would huddle up. I forgot to take screenshots of this time in the cult, but we were building up more and more lore about how we worshiped some croc god and that's why we kept fishing and that we don't trust outsiders except Linus, a fellow believer of nature. The alligator god is partly inspired by how the corner of one of the sections of the farm looked like a croc.
One day. I thought it would be funny to participate at least participate in the flower dance so all of us decided to get out of our self-imposed isolation and finally join the community for once and it was extremely disconcerting. We didn't talk to anyone there except for Linus and we only talked with Mayor Lewis so we could be allowed to join the festivities. And that we did.
And that's the story about how my friends went from totally sucking at the fishing mini-game to being masters at fishing, and in fact, even preferring it to most parts of the game. They've also become the masters of fishing in most other servers they're a part of and they encourage their friends to keep fishing for money as well, albeit without the isolated cult who worships the croc god and does nothing but fish until their body breaks every single day.
#mayaposts#stardew valley#sdv#we hadn't played in the server in like forever but i saw a fishing mini-game post and i was play sdv and so was one of my other friends and#i remembered we were laughing abt the fishing cult farm bc she saw her server list and joked abt logging back in one day#fun times

The best parent in the game is Linus.
Everyone else sucks and I give Kent the only pass cause he knows his issues and is trying but ptsd from war is no joke. That said I can’t give Shane the same pass cause he doesn’t bring Jas with him when he moves and leaves her in the back room behind the lit fireplace surrounded by hay in marines house. Demetrius is a helicopter parent with maru Robin is a helicopter parent with Sebastian (neither one of them will decide to do right by their fave kid by chilling out so the sibling rivalry can end) Pam… is Pam. Caroline blames Pierre but she’s the one constantly harping on Abby even complaining to a stranger about her daughters hair color and how strange she is. Pierre needs therapy his obsession with money seems fear based and it keeps him from being present more with Caroline and Abby, Jodi wtf is wrong with that woman. Perpetual victim. She wants her kids to stay young and innocent and she won’t even let them clean but freaks out over a spilled egg and then gets really weird during one of sams heart scenes that makes it sound like she busted in on him having private time and he’s supposed to be in his early 20’s like this is giving “boy mom” and I know people say oh it’s cause she didn’t want Kent to miss them growing up that’s so much worse actually, like legitimately its abuse to stunt your children’s growth for any reason. Haley and Emily’s parents are just gone. Marnie again fire safety but also her obsession with staring at the microwave. George and Evelyn homophobic and such a sweet old lady but should not be raising kids with this angry homophobic man. This is why Alex is the way he is.
And the wizard…. I mean just all of that doesn’t matter if his kid is Abby or Jas he’s terrible

I've seen a graphic designer (Linus Boman) posit that AI art can become a more common tool in place of, say, stock photos because they're useful in situations that require low budget, turnaround, and effort. So things like brainstorming, making idea boards, more specific images in presentations, etc. The more this discourse goes on the more it seems like the "threat" to artists is from fearmongering and vibes.
That’s exactly been my experience with commercially used AI art as well, that it’s out-competing stock photo companies and not actual commercial artists who you will generally commission because you want something very specific in the first place

i wish there was a sprawling and rabid fandom for oceans eleven and there was massive ship discourse over linus/rusty, rusty/danny, rusty/basher, danny/tess, linus/benedict, etc etc and every day people would post things like ‘I just found out that the actor who plays my baby Virgil, Casey Affleck, has actually done some pretty hecking problematic things’ and every time someone posted a gifset of andy garcia as fernando in mamma mia here we go again, there would be a bunch of angry george clooney gifs and laughing brad pitt gifs in the replies and people would comment saying shit like ‘The Ocean’s fandom is just everywhere huh’ and you could buy fuck ugly Linus Caldwell funko pops and
#i think this would either make steven soderbergh sick to the fucking core#or he would LOVE it#oceans
