Been listening to malevolent ever since I finished the Magnus archives, and I just have to say the sound design is great, the voice acting is great, but… Arthur and John just kinda decide to hate each other sometimes? And to just enact violence at random? Like maybe it gets explained at some point, but *spoilers* in the dream world John ends up telling Arthur that they should probably just kill anything they come across, like everything is against them, but that is demonstrably false? John gets pissed when Arthur doesn’t kill a baby monster, but also gets pissed when he does kill a mummy woman who seems like it’s going to attack them. Just kinda stopped partway through part 16 cause they decided to start yelling at each other randomly again and I’m getting a bit sick of every other sentence Arthur speaks being “Fuck you John” for little to no reason.

hey question for ya-- if you were to rename mordred into something more "normie" (like how percival can become percy), what would you choose and why?

*context: i'm writing an arthur play that's messing with the lines btwn modern theatre and myth, so i'm trying to use names that are reminiscent of the characters' traditional ones but also unique to these newer characters, now*

Mordred doesn’t shorten as neatly as Percival does it? Haha. For me, it would depend on the tone of your project.

If Mordred is a serious character, “Mo” works. That’s what I call him for short. It’s simple and doesn’t distract too much/feel forced. Although I didn’t care for the book, The Winter Knight by Jes Battis called him Mo, which was far superior to renaming Gawain “Wayne.”

If it’s a more light hearted/satirical play, “Mordie” would be funny. Sort of in the same vein Galahad is nicknamed “Gally” in The Book of Mordred by Peter Hanratty and in A Young Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court (1995).

Secret third option—renaming Mordred something completely different from his medieval name to conceal his “true” identity. If you go that route, I’d advise keeping the first letter “M” at the very least. I know Gawain’s name changes drastically between texts, but calling Mordred “Carl” or something would really kill the vibe. You could find something with the same sounds too. Morris. Mordecai. Morley. You get the idea.

So we know in the finale of TMA season two Jon says I’m sorry and it’s implied Tim and Martin thought he was going to end his life, if you’ve never been around death before it stinks, the first time I smelt fresh roadkill, I nearly threw up. Even if you’ve never smelt it before you can recognize it.

So think about this they went to Jon’s office and they would’ve had to be able to smell freshly brain turned into a fine paste Litner through the door. Think about what was going through Martin’s head when he thought Jon was going to go through with something like that, and they smelt death from Jon’s office.

So the Litner books either turn people into monsters or give them abilities, noted. This one kept me on my toes at least. I still don’t like Gregory, for personal reasons. I do like him hiding in one of the refrigerator spots and having to watch Jared be a freak. On to the lack of ethics being displayed by the archives team. I’m not surprised at all, look at Jon and the mess he is. He’s setting a terrible example for what the baseline should be. But FINALLY Jon is becoming more suspicious of Not-Sasha. I have a deep feeling that I’m missing stuff but man did finishing school turn into a sudden massive drop in energy.

So from this episode we find out that the cops are aware that there's weird stuff that happens but they would just rather not. Why? They are all afraid of workplace harassment.

We’ve got a name for the human inferno that I believe was killed in that episode. But more importantly, the red leather bound book is what’s important about that story. It’s probably another Litner book. The cop was just treating this as a therapy session and Jon took advantage of it. Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss.
