tfone au where OP is created as the last of the primes but way after them, a sparkling born at what were thought to be the last days of the war against the quintessons, the beginning of a new generation of peace after eons of war. a child meant to be loved and raised knowing nothing of war nor sacrifice.

he's kept mostly out of the spotlight by his siblings, who don't wish to expose him to everyone's optics so young, and want to wait until the war is done and over to properly introduce him to their people.

except of course the primes are betrayed and murdered by sentinel, the war is lost and everyone who knows and cared for the truth is either banished or outright killed in order to suppress it.

and the high guard, the ones the primes trusted the most, the ones that were supposed to protect them, the ones who failed in their most important duty, have to make a choice. to take the last prime, their last hope, with them to the surface, a hostile environment where there's little to no supplies and where they'll be hunted down by both sentinel and the quintessons as the biggest threat to their regimen.

or hide him in plain sight. place him where sentinel won't think to look for him. one more sparkling among many. and hope it will be enough to keep him alive. pray to primus that he'll protect his last child long enough for them to come back for him when it's safer (even if most of them have already lost their faith on him when he allowed the rest of his children to be massacred like that)

they almost lose their resolve when they realize they will have to take the little one's cog away in order to make him blend in with the rest of the newborns (and oh do they burn with murderous intent when they see what sentinel has done to their people but it's not the time yet-) but in the end they decide an impaired little prime is better than a dead one.

and so in the chaos of thirteen dead primes and a sudden energon crisis, a little sparkling who very few mechs really knew about and even fewer had seen completely vanishes. and in the depths of iacon a mech in charge of a new batch of newborns scratches their helm in confusion as they realize they must have miscounted the first time.

optimus prime is quietly erased from any official records by sentinel, written off as dead when they find a sparkling's frame mangled beyond recognition after an attack on the base of those rebels that insist on being a thorn on his side. killing the sparkling hadn't been precisely in his plans, he probably could've found some use for it after all, but he's not particularly upset about it either.

and orion pax grows up with an ache on his spark that tells him he's missing something far more important than a t-cog and dreams of gentle and loving hands, cradling him against the frames of mechs he cannot recall the faces of.

The thing is I don't believe Miles Edgeworth would ever say "I love you" to Nick, and I don't think he would reach out to hold him. But I do think the moment he hears about what's going on with Trucy he would show up at Nick's door with a stack of documentation on adoption and sit down with him for hours as they wade through the legal process to gain custody. What to Do Once Things Are Planted?

This is my seventh post in a series I’ll be making on how to increase biodiversity on a budget! I’m not an expert--just an enthusiast--but I hope something you find here helps! 

So you’ve gotten started on making a garden to boost biodiversity! 10/10, excellent work! So, now what?

First, you’ll need to keep watering the plants--especially if you’re going through a dry season. Native plants will be more acclimated to your area’s seasonal weather, but they’ll need a helping hand while they’re getting established--especially if you’re starting with young, tender seedlings. With that in mind, if you accidentally skip out on crucial watering days, don't panic! There's been tons of times where I haven't watered for an entire summer and had perennials come back the next spring! Even this year, during a heatwave, I completely did not water my swamp milkweeds, but they're already popping back up! You may also need to go in and weed, especially if you’re seeing invasive species popping up in the garden. Invasives are no good--if you do anything, do your best to get those out as effectively and safely as possible!

If you’re needing to maintain your shrubs in spring and summer, double check to make sure there are no active bird or insect nests within them. If it’s possible to wait until later to cut your shrubs, it could be extremely beneficial.

When fall and winter come around and your plants begin to die back, don’t cut them away if you can! Many insects overwinter in the plant stems left behind as perennials die back to the roots. In addition, birds will use seed heads as a source of food over the winter. Try not to clean things up until late winter/early spring, when other food sources are beginning to come back and things are growing again. By then, the insects should be waking up and leaving the plant stems as well.

However, don’t let this discourage you from collecting seeds! Collecting seed from your plants is a great way to continue gardening at low cost, as well as making friends and encouraging others to garden by trading seeds or offering them as gifts. If you're in an area where you do need to cut back, this is a great opportunity to collect the seeds and save them for the future. You could also cut back what’s dying in the front yard and keep things to overwinter in the backyard. Some overwintering habitat is better than no overwintering habitat.

Want to know how to collect seeds from specific plants? I've found YouTube to be a great source of info for this! Knowing what you're doing and when is key to getting a viable harvest.

As your mulch begins to break down, you’ll need to keep adding more to top it off, if you can. It can get a bit repetitive, but no worries--the mulch breaking down means your soil is improving! 

If possible, add to your garden! Expand, add in new things, and keep encouraging the growth of native plants. If you couldn’t add that water feature in year one, see if you can in year two! New interest in birds? Add a birdhouse, or more bird feeders. Loving the butterflies? Add plenty more nectar-rich plants, or do more��research into what they lay their eggs on! Want more color? See what else you can add in! Came into some new pots to expand your flowerpot garden with? Find cool native plants to put in them! I always encourage people to start small and then expand over time, as opposed to starting big and getting overwhelmed.

Keep learning and observing native species of birds, insects, mammals, etc. See what’s coming to your yard now, and look into how you can improve things more for them on your budget. If you aren’t seeing what you were hoping, see if there’s other actions you can take that’ll attract what you’re hoping to see in your backyard habitat. Knowing more about the world around you makes it easier to know how to help the world around you. Talk to others about what you’re doing, the changes you’ve made, and the results you’ve seen! Curious neighbors? Work friends? Your closest homies? Your family? All fair game! You just might be the one who gets someone else interested in making their space a habitat for local wildlife!

I'm so curious about your writing process, could you please shed some light on how you approach it?

Aside from already having a vision for the plot, do you have ideas about scenes you want to include and then write the chapters around them, so to speak? Or is it more like, "the goals of this chapter are to reach this and this checkpoint with each character," and fill in the blanks like that?

Sorry, I have no clue how writing is done, but I enjoy your writing so much that I really wanted to ask! 🐒

I don't recommend the way I write to anyone ever but to be honest, I go off of vibes a lot.

I have a vague outline in my notes with rough chapter numbers attached and pivotal moments that push the plot in different directions (the cheating reveal, who ???? is, the choices you can make in response to the cheating and starting a new route/what happens during them or choosing a career, the setting changing, mc's family appearing)

the rest is kind of improvised. I have a couple long scenes/convos written and saved in a doc and go from there but I've never been someone that managed to write a full chapter outline beforehand/went into details and stuck to them (I wish I did though lmao)

at the beginning of starting a new chapter I look at my IF outline and decide how far I want the plot to progress and how to make that happen. then I write down every new idea I have for a chapter at that moment and decide whether to shift a specific interview to a later chapter or if they should continue the tour then/how long they stay in a city and what happens during those scenes/what should be revealed about R and mc or any of the other ROs during one-on-one scenes/if a new character introduction makes sense.

editing is where I go in and take note of the details I included/side plots i should expand on and include them into my outline to remember later on! so the outline is kind of filled out as I write.

which is. bad. but it worked for all my projects so far and it hasn't failed me yet! :)

Very random but I’ve been writing SteveTony/Superhusband things and based it on the Avengers Assemble (AA) universe (and MineVengers and Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. but I digress since AA is the main focus lore-wise and the rest are taking parts of lore from single episodes or combining characters buuUut annyywaays) because yeees

Tony is plagued by nightmares and this worsens especially after returning back home after the events with the Beyonder (season 4). So much so that Steve promises to be the first person Tony sees when he wakes up from these nightmares. Sometimes Tony believes he is still in a nightmare, hallucinating, or has been kidnapped, where both Steve and Tony found the solution to instantly ground Tony is…ice cream flavors?

A bit of silly writing I did for a silly Avengers Assemble AU I am writing:

“Neapolitan. Chocolate.” Steve said softly to him. Two words. Two very, comforting words.

“Chocolate. Butter pecan?” Tony replied instantly, moving back to look into those azure eyes as Steve nodded, replying ever so softly, “Isn’t it everybody’s?”

Tony laughed as he gently rested his forehead against Steve’s, who laughed with him. This wasn’t a nightmare, a vision. This was real. And Tony wasn’t kidnapped, he was back with Steve.

Their small exchange always grounded Tony, which may seem random to others, but it worked for the two. Instead of convincing Tony was not hallucinating or kidnapped, Steve would say Tony’s favorite ice cream flavor, neapolitan, and specify one of the three components, where they are listed in order from the last time it was mentioned. Tony would confirm and mention Steve’s favorite ice cream flavor, butter pecan. Steve would end it off with their own inside joke “Isn’t it everybody’s?”. Their code words have worked wonders for helping ground Tony.

Basically, Steve doesn’t waste words trying to convince Tony that he’s alright. He just says Tony’s favorite life cream flavor, which starts the code words for the two. Steve always initiate and the times he doesn’t, Tony knows something is wrong. Like, if he was truly kidnapped, Tony blurting a random ice cream flavor to his captors would definitely stump them.

I have no idea if there is even an ounce of logic to this buuut it’s so silly so why not <3

i don't think enough people talk about how the backbone of nie huaisang's plan hinged heavily upon jin guangyao's low birth, and the jianghu's willingness to dogpile on such people.

nie huaisang is upper class. he's specifically stated in the novel as behaving more like the idle rich than like a distinguished second young master of one of the five great cultivation sects, but he's still an heir by birth. even if nie huaisang had been more openly caught, who would do anything to him?

wei wuxian notices that bicao's testimony was bought with a few shiny baubles— that nie huaisang was the one who bribed her with a nice bracelet for her testimony. he intentionally kept his own sect half dead, barely afloat for years, just to keep up the guise of an incompetent loser!

but the only actual consequence he's faced for such poor leadership that probably hurt a lot of common folks in his territory over 13 years is that people think nie huaisang is an annoying, useless crybaby. nie huaisang has a level of protection from consequences that jin guangyao had to fight much harder for (and that jin guangyao ultimately never truly got).

nie huaisang knew his own class and social position extremely well, and he knew how most people of that position behave and think. he was more than willing to use this in his revenge.

we know lan wangji is the type to use his wealth and position to do good for others. nie huaisang is the opposite— he's the type to use his wealth and position for himself and his own personal goals.

and this wasn't just something that started after his brother died! avoiding responsibilities, never carrying his sword, ignoring the fact that he wasn't honoring his sect or ancestors the way others wanted… his underground ring of selling porn as a teenager even got him out of the worst part of the wen indoctrination camps, because he bribed the wen cultivators overseeing everyone else.

my point is, nie huaisang is self-aware enough to know he doesn't really ever do the "right" thing! at no point in the story does he delude himself or others with grand ideals of how one ought to behave. he doesn't care.

unlike almost every single other upper class cultivator in the story— jiang cheng, jin zixuan, nie mingjue, lan xichen— who all think of themselves as righteous in a way, who are always able to justify their thoughts and actions, rarely if ever able to conceive of those thoughts and actions as flawed or wrong... nie huaisang KNOWS his own selfishness.

like lan wangji, nie huaisang recognizes that his class can easily be used as a shield to do whatever he wants. while lan wangji at worst uses this nifty privilege to silence people he doesn't like, refuse to explain himself in inconvenient situations, and bring wei wuxian along with him everywhere, nie huaisang uses it to shirk his duties for decades and tear jin guangyao apart in revenge.

jin guangyao being the son of a prostitute automatically amplifies bad rumors around him. bringing to light his incestuous marriage and the gruesome way he murdered his upper class father, however deserved, is obviously going to impact him in a way that someone higher class wouldn't be as hurt by. combining that with a final lie to get his sworn brother to stab him in a flash of doubt, and well...

is that good or righteous or just? no, of course not. nie huaisang doesn't spend any time pretending that his actions were conducted based on morality, or that he "had no choice".

nie huaisang just wanted to destroy jin guangyao, and damn did it feel good to finally do it.

It’s a little sad that Jamil’s negative attitude towards his peers makes a lot of people think he’s just a shitty person (and don’t get me wrong, he is a jerk and an asshole)

But despite his general dislike of those around him, he still continually makes huge personal sacrifices for his family and Kalim.

There’s just a bit of selflessness in there even if it’s because it’s his job to care for others and not himself.
