Lucifer: "There are many processes going on in a dead body. Every cell responds to its own nature, for it is true that everything returns to its source. I have seen many shells that are called corpses, but they become temples for potential energy. This is one of the properties of necromancy - the release of this energy, which can no longer be used by a living consciousness. Insects, worms, and many bacteria are natural necromancers.
Death is about transformation and overcoming barriers. This is my element, and if you follow my path, you should also work with this concept. I'm not saying that you need to wander around cemeteries and look for corpses, no. The energy of transition is contained in many ordinary things, especially in those that do not last long.
Ancient people believed that at sunset the sun dies, and at dawn it is born again. This is the energy of death. When you leave your parents to live separately, it is the energy of death. Water becomes ice, then melts and evaporates - this is the energy of death.
Be able to notice it and it will give you my wisdom."

The teaching moment with Mandy is primarily about euphemisms and human expressions, and that's what they've been looking for as The Teaching Moment, even more than the hookup potential.
Tumblr media
FURTHER: In the later seasons, we see quite a few examples where Dean and Cas are bantering about metaphors and expressions, and it's because they've been practicing that.
SEE: "I don't think that's the expression." & And "I know what the expression is." Etc etc.
This also an aspect of the diner scene with Jack in Ouroboros, where, as a family, they're engaging in vocabulary banter re: the meaning of the religious term, "lithurgical."
The lost in translation of it all is so, so cute.
///
ANYWAY.
Dean has a vested interest in Cas learning "human flirting," because Dean I-talk-in-code Winchester is trying so hard to send messages, and he wants Cas so badly to pick up what he's putting down.
Mandy is a walking embodiment of Dean's "coded" porn on the show, and is thus a stand-in for Dean's desire. Dean, who smells like food. Dean, who is paralleled to the working waitress with the double-heart pin in The Great Escapist.
Tumblr media
Dean is literally "stuck in the middle" of Mandy and Cas here.
He starts role-playing to create a space that feels safer/more comfortable for flirting, without acknowledging the unspoken tension between them. Mostly, the teaching moment is about pushing Cas to look harder at sexual cues.
Dean first starts to triangulate with the "carbs" line, but Dean isn’t just guiding the conversation—he’s actively inhabiting the flirtation, inserting himself into the interaction. He interjects as an overinvolved third party, and even echoes Mandy’s “handsome” line, reinforcing that he’s playing both sides of the exchange.
It’s a brilliant use of misdirection and metaphor, reflecting the core tension in their relationship—Dean wants Cas, but he feels the need to cloak it in layers of humor, flirtation, and indirectness to avoid exposing himself emotionally.
In "showing Cas how it's done," Dean is using the responses as a way to coax Cas into responding the way Dean desires. The "when do you get off" question is not only a classic way of signaling romantic interest, but it's Dean going: "This is what I want you to ask me, Cas. I want you to ask me, when I get off so we can spend time together outside of work."
Cas has been off searching relentlessly, first for Lucifer, and then for Kelly Kline. Dean has felt that absence in ways he won't say out loud.
"She's into you," Dean says, thrilled at the opportunity to play. He's the one who overly gamifies the interaction—“Score. Double score.” He says "score" whenever Amanda signals interest: "I get off whenever I can." And finally, in the script, there's plated waffle that slams down for Cas's order, the Sunrise Special... and Mandy has made sure to slather it with extra whipped cream. "Double score," Dean says.
LOOK AT ALL THESE SIGNALS OF INTEREST YOU GOT HERE, CAS!
The waffles and the breakfast motifs remain symbolic, tying it to the "waffle poetica" we saw from Dean in the beginning of Regarding Dean.
Dean doesn't just want a hookup from Cas. He wants the morning afterglow with him—the breakfast.
///
Two seconds later, probably, Dean is giving Cas a mixtape.
Cas. Cas, baby. He is into you.

my hottest take as a sam lover is that i didn’t rly like the show’s portrayal of samifer (as in sam possessed by lucifer not as in the ship) very much. and i do think a not insignificant portion of that is how fucking ugly that suit was it did not fit him right and the shirt wasn’t the same white as the suit in a weird way and why didn’t they give him a TIE i just think an all white suit is such a difficult thing to pull off if ur not doing it right and the costume department was Not Doing It Right That Day

Ruby raped sam. Lucifer probably raped sam. When I tell people I ship either of them with him, I only get flak for samifer and the criticism is 98% related to the sexual abuse. If I’m gonna receive hate for samifer it’d make more sense if the main criticism was the magnitude of torture and abuse he put Sam through, as he’s absolutely done more damage to his psyche. This never seems to be the case though. It’s consistently the reaction of, “you’re condoning rape.”
I interpret the subtext between samifer as a strong allusion to rape. It’s compelling, terrifying, and makes the most sense as a watcher. But it’s still a subtext based headcanon. It’s never shown or unambiguously confirmed in a way that can’t possibly be written off as taunts, shitty jokes, and metaphoric speech if the viewer wants.
Yet, we see Ruby violate sexual consent directly. No innuendo, no subtext. It cannot be explained away. They show it to us straight-up. Sam denies her sexually, straight-up. Coercion is rape, even if Sam “gave in.” Her manipulation and use of drugs and sex in tandem is rape. There is really no room for interpretation with what happened between sam and ruby because we saw it all play out in front of our eyes. Yet the reaction is so different?
Isolating the sexual aspect only, is it a perception thing? Is it the enjoyment Sam gets from Ruby’s abuse and the facade of her care? Is it people not truly understanding what consent is? Do we look at Lucifer and all his terrible actions and assume sexual abuse is true without a shadow of a doubt, then look at Ruby and ignore what happened because of the sweet package she comes in? Is it because we don’t readily recognize women as abusers the way we do men? Thinking aloud… I think they’re both really sick ships and I like both

🌹 Theistic Satanism — Part 1
What if Satan wasn't the enemy?
This series of posts aims to deconstruct the misconceptions surrounding theistic Satanism, a spirituality that is often misunderstood, caricatured, or confused with other movements.
In this first post, I introduce the fundamental principles of this spiritual path: inner freedom, rejection of dogma, absence of imposed sacred texts, and above all, a sincere and living relationship with a divine entity.
🕯️ Future posts will delve into the beliefs, practices, figures, and nuances within theistic Satanism itself.

“but shal, how could crowley have slept with naomi when fergus macleod wasn’t alive yet????”
well. for starters, “mesopotamia” could’ve just been a general poetic.
but also could be as simple as… he didn’t.
he has intel on her. and he’s posturing, as usual. because that’s what crowley does.
double entendres and innuendos are his weapons of choice to sow distrust, suspicion, discomfort, derision. to put you off balance, if he can. (and if that fails, he’ll switch to insults or, at worst, incessant goading.)
And the thing is… almost ALL his posturing is sexual. it’s how he wields power (from what traditionally tends to be from a weaker position)
it’s more about how he operates and fergus’s victimhood/ historical demon trauma more than it is a statement of de facto truth
he wants you to read into it
get distracted; get discomfited
just long enough to take your eye off the ball or give him the upper hand in a power struggle
#posturing characters#weak position banter#about crowley#crowley and naomi#fergus’s demon trauma#one of the fascinating things about crowley is#like rowena and sam he is not good w ppl nor particularly charismatic#which makes him a weak hell king#the sam rowena crowley triad of ambition#they’re all three wily persistent dangerous#but not naturally charismatic by nature i don’t think#sam’s moreso got a heroism ppl respond to but not as natural at decision making responsibility carrying#sam is better in larger groups seems to struggle when they get too close#crowley tho#anyway he inspires no loyalty in hell#then he spirals in a fit of caesarian paranoia and keeps reaching for more power to solve for his own inadequacies#crowley is excellent with tactics leading up to a power grab#lucifer has similar issues but has more cognitive empathy i think#lucifer is confident and crowley isn’t#and lucifer’s cognitive empathy contrasts crowley’s most self-directed emotions (crowley’s insecurity at work)#for example…#sam tries to kill crowley and crowley is like ?????#conveniently propping himself and his own efforts up INSTEAD of remembering he killed ppl sam saved and loved like 2 seconds ago#lucifer’s cognitive empathy is like oh yeah 👍 guess i deserved getting locked in AU world#lucifer isn’t just physically stronger… he’s better at reading ppl than crowley is#uncool kids table with sam metatron rowena crowley#crowley is NOT self reflective very much at all#i can count on one hand#crowley is actually less introspective than lucifer which is saying something#like sam crowley analyzes others but rationalizes his own behavior

Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, and Maturing
A small reflection
I would like to preface this post by acknowledging that I am a long-term fan of both works aforementioned in the title. If you want proof, just take a look at the majority of my blog posts!
Furthermore, I am NOT condoning or encouraging minors to watch or engage with these shows. This is simply a reflection of my own - and I'm sure many others - experience with the Hellaverse.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not controversial to accuse Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss of being chock full of writing flaws. The most common ones are:
Inadequately set-up threats
Pacing + tone issues
Surface-level character development (especially for females).
That's not to mention the dozens of videos analyzing Viziepop character design...
But to a 14-year-old me, these critiques were far from my mind when I watched "Murder Family" in October of 2020. The unapologetic edginess of the episode was something I had never experienced before. It felt rebellious.
I bring this up all to say, that these shows are appealing to younger audiences in a way other adult animation is not. I'm sure you already know this - The amount of young teens in the fandom is hard to miss!
And after years of rewatching episodes, creating theories, engaging with fanart and so... SO much fanfiction. I've finally realized why this may be the case.
It is BECAUSE of these writing flaws, and BECAUSE of these one-note characters, that younger audiences gravitate to the show. Alastor was first created when Viziepop was 16 for goodness sake.
The lack of nuance within the writing, as well as the cartoony exaggeration (all while trying to make you feel it is deep), is quite appealing to minds that don't engage with media critically.
This is not to say older audiences can't enjoy the shows. I still adore them. But I would argue that a majority of the character complexity and development I witnessed over the years did not come from Viziepops original works...
This depth was instead created by the older members of the fandom and the fanworks they have produced, not Viziepop herself.
If you do not believe me. I would request you to pick your favorite Hellaverse character (I personally think Lucifer is a great example). Evaluate what you love about their depth, inner-workings, development, and motivation.
Now list exactly when or where the original works imply these traits, and what has been expanded upon or created by secondary sources.
You may find, like I did, that the originals are quite lacking.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, that's my messy thought piece. I just wanted to put it out there, maybe someone else has had a similar experience??
Let me know your thoughts if you've read this! Hahaha
