“Y-You heard what I said!” Shinichi stutters, the red on his cheeks spreading to the top of his ears. He opens his mouth to say something, but takes the words back and pouts, “I really meant it!”

Shiho’s cold stare turn into a bemused frown.

“Did you, really?” The scientist challenges, her words followed by an unkind scoff, “And what part of that am I supposed to take for other than drunken gibberish?”

“All of it.” Is the detective’s fast reply, eyes unwavering despite his clear embarrassment. He licks his lips, nervous yet determined, and blurts, “Shiho, I love you.”

The strawberry blonde holds his stare for what feels like an eternity, chewing the inside of her bottom lip in an attempt to hold uncharitable words from bursting out. Eventually, she clicks her tongue and, shaking her head, she pulls her gaze away.

“What!?” Shinichi puzzles, visibly let down by her reaction. “What’s that supposed to mean!? Oi—“

He takes her wrist, demanding to meet her gaze again. She sighs, but lets him.

“You’re serious?” She asks, lips pursed and frowns knitted in a perfect picture of skepticism.

“Yes!” Shinichi confirms, a bit indignantly.

“Okay.” Shiho scoffs again, her words dripping sarcasm. It drives the detective up the walls.

“What—!?”

Helplessness. Confusion. Utter loss. Shinichi’s feelings swirl and mix with one another before Shiho’s eyes, and she debates if she should let him be or put the man out of his misery.

She yanks her hand free from his grasp, lifts her chin up and throws him a pointed look.

“Well, you love me like a coward.” She snaps.

Yeah okay so this might be an rottmnt and hermitcraft crossover AU but I mean… it was consuming my thoughts… *looks down in shame* I couldn’t help it.

Etho currently lives on the surface as a disguised yokai, naturally being able to change to a human form without needing a cloaking broach because… Kitsune and mystic powers or something (admittedly I still don’t 100% get the lore but I’m working on it). He shares a small apartment with a human who’s yet to discover his secret and works a few odd jobs every week. He doesn’t really have a steady income, but somehow he makes do, to the surprise of everyone around him.

(I didn’t use a reference for the Bō btw, so I hope it’s okay. And also feel free to leave criticism on this drawing, just be nice)
