GAME DAY ✶ 𝓑𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗥
౨ৎ a regular day in my better cr except is a wednesday so it's game day ( high school girls basketball ) and also happens to be a snow day . . .
7:07 AM
i get woken up by my six-month-old kitten screaming in my ear for no reason. milo won’t let me sleep past seven in morning for actual no reason because i feed her at 11 am so it doesn’t even make sense. i usually just kick ( picking her up & move her, not actually kicking her ) her off the bed and go back to sleep.
on normal days i go to school for like two & a half hours because i only need one credit to graduate and i do online college classes. but today was a snow so i didn’t have to go.
10:30 AM
i actually start my day by showering and doing my daily routine, including feeding milo.
today i went to breakfast with my friend kennedy at a small coffee shop. i don’t actually like coffee, or coffee shops, but kennedy loves them so i always go with her when she asks. we always end up talking for hours on end. something about her makes me spill everything to her, ranging from how i hate ap calc to how i think im just playing a good person & not actually one.
we’ve been friends still elementary school so it makes sense how i just tell her everything under the sun.
12:16 PM
after breakfast / lunch i go over to jason’s house. he’s the middle child of a doctor & a engineer so he lives in the richest part of town ( literally all the way across town from my house lol ).
we spend time together doing absolutely anything. he likes to read while i do my puzzles. we might be a fifty-year-old married couple . . . but he keeps puzzles at his house that i do when i go over there. i’m currently working on a peacock feather puzzle on his bedroom floor. i love to watch conan o’brien reruns while i do my puzzles.
3:30 PM
jason has to go to basketball practice. i go back to my house and take a nap before i have to get up and get ready for the game.
6:00 PM
the old government teacher is my school’s announcer for home games. so he does the whole “senior number forty-four, layla mullis!” and i get to do my secret handshake with my favorite junior, my sister kara ( yes, she’s a junior on jv. i took all the ‘good at basketball’ genes ).
jason sits with my mom & stepdad in the stands. my stepdad is like 5’5 so jay literally looks like a giant sitting with them lol. he has to watch as i make literally all my threes but none of my freethrows. i got fouled like two times. i finished with fifteen points and made my best friend, stevie, dunk to beat the clock.
8:30 PM
me, stevie, jason, vinnie ( stevie’s bf ), kara, and carmen ( kara’s gf ) all go out to eat after the game. we went to our favorite mexican restaurant in town. while we were there i knocked over full cup of water. im talking a full glass of ice water. it went everywhere. all over my lap and jason’s jeans. a few ice cubes made it across the table to stevie too.
i might be a little bit clumsy. just a little itsy bit though, trust . . .
9:37 PM
i take my sister’s girlfriend home before actually going home to our house. by the time we got there jason was already upstairs in my room waiting for me. my parents let him stay over pretty often. i mean we’re both eighteen and about to graduate so like. my stepdad had this joke that jay can’t come over if i don’t win my games . . . haha very funny dad. 😐
for the rest of the night after i shower i get to listen to jason yap on and on about the drama he’s heard from his guys. he always has something new to tell me. it’s honestly so entertaining. then he falls asleep on me. he’s just a big breathing teddy bear.
౨ৎ : this was actually so fun to do

LETS HAVE AN OMEGA FESTIVAL!
HAPPY ONE YEAR TO OUR OMEGAS AND WELCOME OUR NEW HERO, IRA!
New York City is the city that never sleeps and that never dies, no matter what you throw its way. After what happened in June, the energy was low the first two weeks. The citizens needed time to grieve and heal-- and of course, wait for parts of the city to be fixed. It's a slow and necessary process. There at their sides are the Omegas, the city's heroes help with clean up, fixing buildings, getting cats out of trees, making sure everyone is fine: they're doing their jobs but also just being decent human beings. It warms the hearts of the citizens, all grateful for their team of heroes who have done nothing but protect all of them.
The city's mayor doesn't care much for the Omegas but he does care about making his citizens happy. And what would make them happy? A celebration for their favorite group of heroes of course! It's an Omega Festival held in Central Park, the festival is to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Omegas being formed and to welcome a new member of the team, an individual personally recommended to him by his new acquaintance Linda McCall. There's drinks from local bars, food stands of some fan favorite restaurants, gaming booths such as basketball, darts, duck shoot, and even musical performances from local musicians. It's a day of fun for everyone, so come and enjoy yourself!

18-years-old
"There is no way I'm ever going on that thing. You can't make me."
"Come on, you promised that if I scored better than you at darts you would ride the Riptide with me! Gonna go back on your word now, Sheena?"
"Stop smirking at me, Zelos! You clearly cheated! That game was rigged!"
"All carnival games are rigged. That's common knowledge."
"I don't care. You still cheated!"
"Cheated how? You were watching me the whole time!"
Colette giggled, watching her two friends have a go at each other as they inched closer to each other with each word they spoke. All three of them were leaning against the cold metal railing, though Colette was careful to keep a safe distance from Zelos and Sheena. When they were engrossed in arguing with each other, there was a safe zone, and a not-safe zone where one was liable to get smacked by a wildly gesturing arm or two.
Surrounding them were various stalls staffed by people who were enthusiastically calling out to potential customers, hoping to receive more coupons in the final hour before the carnival closed. There were pop-up game stalls featuring the classics like ring toss and soccer, food stands selling carnival staples like candy floss and popcorn, and even thrill rides like the aforementioned Riptide, a roller coaster that paled in comparison to USS' coasters but certainly had the most twists and turns of anything offered at the carnival. Adorning everything was bright neon lights and colourful decorations, and noise came from every angle, lending to a cheery atmosphere that could get a tad overwhelming at times.
Despite the late hour of 9 pm, there was still quite a crowd - mostly consisting of young adults like them, the majority of families having gone home for the night. She had bumped into quite a few classmates in the past three hours, who had come here with the same idea of having a fun night out with friends after the end of A-levels. A lot of pictures had been taken, until her cheeks hurt a bit from smiling so much, but it had been great fun.
She, Lloyd, Zelos and Sheena had managed to visit almost every booth, using up all of the coupons that they were sharing amongst each other. But even with their combined efforts, they had only managed to win one prize: the adorable Siberian Husky plush she was currently hugging. Though they'd certainly snacked on their share of popcorn, sharing one large carton between the four of them until their fingers were sticky with kernels.
"Colette, back me up!" Sheena begged, turning to face Colette. Despite the biting words that were leaving her mouth, her true emotions were betrayed by the smile playing at the corner of her lips. Sheena's hair was tied up into her trademark high ponytail, the ends of her hair swaying slightly in the weak wind.
"What, me?" Colette exclaimed, rather surprised she was being pulled into the conversation. Zelos and Sheena tended to retreat into their own world whenever they got into this state, forgetting anyone else existed.
"Uh, well..." Colette muttered, sheepishly smiling. "Sorry to disappoint, Sheena, but I have to give this one to Zelos."
"See? Even Colette agrees!" Zelos placed their elbow on the railing, leaning closer to Sheena, smirking.
Sheena didn't even spare Zelos a look, just shoved their face away with a hand, ignoring Zelos' sputters of protest. "How could you, Colette? How could you side with the idiot?" Sheena cried in mock betrayal.
"Well, I and Lloyd were both there, and we both saw Zelos win fair and square. And a deal's a deal," Colette replied, shrugging. Zelos did seem more insistent than usual, but she couldn't discern why.
"Just think of it as a date!" Zelos waved a nonchalant arm in the air, that smirk never fading as they took hold of Sheena's arm.
"Screaming in abject terror is not my idea of a date," Sheena hissed through gritted teeth, though she didn't free herself from Zelos' hold. "Besides, we're supposed to ride the Ferris wheel together once Lloyd comes back!"
"Eh, we won't make it before the carnival closes if we catch the Ferris wheel. Don't worry, I'll treat you to ice cream afterwards! And if that isn't enough to appease you, surely some Ajisen will." Zelos turned to Colette and winked, leaving Colette utterly confused. Was there an underlying meaning to all of this she was supposed to be catching?
"If you drag me on that damn thing, Zelos Wilder, I swear I will never forgive - GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME! STOP!" Sheena shrieked as Zelos began to drag her by brute force towards the snaking queue of the Riptide. Colette gaped, watching Sheena struggle wildly, digging her feet into the ground and hurling curses that got steadily fouler at Zelos, who didn't seem to be affected at all.
"I'm back with the drinks!" Lloyd's happy voice came from behind her as he walked up to her, holding two cups with steam venting from their tops, hair adorably ruffled from the day's hectic events, woefully unaware of everything that had occurred in the time he was gone. "Wait, what's... Happening...?" he asked, only now spotting the gradually diminishing silhouettes of Zelos and Sheena.
"I... Uh, Zelos and Sheena are going to ride the Riptide," Colette said, explaining the situation as succinctly as she could. How else could she word it, anyway? There was no explaining the antics of those two.
"Alright." Lloyd shrugged, accepted her explanation and passing one cup over to her. She pushed the plushy into the crook of her elbow, freeing up a hand to accept the cup and still managing to almost drop it. She closed her fingers around the plastic cup, soaking in the warmth it emanated.
"It's hot chocolate," Lloyd explained between gulps as he practically downed the whole cup in half a minute. "They're out of hot milo. Sorry."
"It's alright. Any hot drink would have done." Colette finally took a sip, feeling the sting from the heat and sticking out her tongue.
"Should we wait for them to come back or go queue for the Ferris wheel?"
Colette sighed. "We should just go. The queue for the Riptide is really long... They know to meet up back at the MRT at 10."
The original plan was to take a group photo at the peak of the revolution of the Ferris wheel, but that didn't look like it was going to happen now.
So it would just be her and Lloyd riding the Ferris wheel. An activity that could be seen as romantic. The pamphlet for the carnival had even advertised it as a ride of love. When they'd walked past it just now, she'd seen that the Ferris wheel was decked out with a ton of wire hearts that lit up in multiple colours.
It was just ten minutes. It would be over in the blink of an eye! Totally!
"Then, let's go," Lloyd said, grabbing her hand and giving her a minute heart attack, causing her bravado to crumble into dust.
Nope. There was no way this could end well.
The two of them joined the short queue for the Ferris wheel, having thrown their empty cups into a nearby dustbin. Only eight people were waiting for the next empty carriage to descend to ground level and open its doors. Five of them - three children and two adults - belonged to one family, while the rest were a group of three girls, enthusiastically talking to each other. It wouldn't take long for their turn.
A bout of shivers overcame her as the wind picked up, the warmth of the drink already a memory. She wrapped her free arm around herself, gaze dropping to the floor as she once again regretted forgetting to bring out her favourite dog-ear hoodie. It was always hanging on her clothes rack, and it would have been so easy to just reach out a hand and swipe it on her way out. But no, she just had to wake up late and stumble out of the house still half-asleep.
She'd forgotten how cold the nights could get. Especially for her, someone who couldn't even handle the lecture theatre air-conditioning. Forgoing a long-sleeved T-shirt for her kiwi bird-print tee was not helping matters.
"Here." Something warm and soft was draped around her shoulders, and she looked up to find herself draped in Lloyd's familiar jacket, his face hovering close to hers. "You should have told me you were cold," Lloyd muttered, his breath tickling her neck. "I would have given you my jacket earlier."
His jacket smelt like him, a safe, comforting blanket that reached to her thighs. It held his body heat, too, slowly seeping into her.
Colette flushed, turning her face away so she didn't have to look into those russet eyes. For there was concern there, as well as the ever-present kindness, but there was also more. There was no way to hide her blush, not when he was right here, but she still had to resist the urge to hide her face behind the plushy.
Why was she still trying so hard to hide, anyway? It's not like it was of any use. She was so obvious. As Zelos had told her, it had gone far past the point of being funny.
"Though I guess you're always cold," Lloyd said, tearing his gaze away from her and taking a hurried step back. Perhaps the words were meant to be teasing, but they fell flat with the out-of-place laughter attached to the end.
"I - I mean, it - it was my fault for not bringing a jacket in the first place," she stuttered, the words stumbling over each other in her mouth in her hurry to answer. Now Lloyd would know she was nervous too. She was doing really well, wasn't she? “But thank you.”
"The next carriage is here," the attendant called out, voice flat and expression terribly bored. He was staring at them with a barely veiled expression of disinterest, waving his arms to direct them into the next carriage, doors wide open.
"Come on." Lloyd grabbed her hand, the smile returning to his face. The Ferris wheel was lit up to the nines, throwing soft purple light onto everything around her and illuminating half of Lloyd's face. Beautiful. He was always so beautiful, but it was moments like these where it made her heart hurt, wanting so desperately to reach out and touch his face.
Heart pounding in her chest, she took her seat, Lloyd sitting directly on her left, their legs close enough to brush.
She placed the plushy in her lap, resting her chin on it and trying her best to slow her racing heart, knowing it would be of no use. Here, in this carriage that was slowly rising into the sky and gently rocking, it was just the two of them in this little space, cut off from the rest of the world.
It was hard to tell herself she was imagining the intense way Lloyd was staring at her, like she was the only thing worth looking at, even though the beautiful night scenery was right outside the glass. Nor was it possible to imagine the tension, sharp as a knife, that had arisen between them for the past half a year or so. Almost everything was the same: they were still incredibly close, but there was a hesitance there now - in the way Lloyd’s fingers sometimes curled away from hers, in the way she sometimes stopped before throwing an arm around his shoulder to embrace him.
Neither of them had spoken up about that tension, dancing around each other like fools. Even if he did return her feelings… Love wasn’t enough to bridge the impossible distance between them. She could never fully comprehend all that he felt, just as he could never fully comprehend the absence of what she felt. She could never give him what others could, not with her extreme revulsion towards anything sexual in nature. She’d be willing to try, for him, simply because her love for him knew no bounds, but… she couldn't say where her limits would be. Likely not very far from where she would start.
Even though Lloyd had been nothing but supportive of her, that didn’t mean he was willing to take a chance that could very well end in failure and heartbreak. She might not be enough for him when it came to a relationship. If that was the case, she could understand. Neither of them had done anything wrong. If they were incompatible from the start, then she could keep her silence. She’d be perfectly happy to remain as friends, even if these nebulous feelings would never leave her chest. She didn’t want to lose them.
"Um, do you, uh... like the plushy?" Lloyd asked, his voice cutting through her anxious thoughts. Awkwardness radiated off of him in spades as he shifted in the seat, turning his head away to stare down at the floor. At least she wasn't the only one that was nervous. He was repeating the exact question he’d asked her when he’d given her the plushy.
"I love it. It's soft, and it's cute. Thanks for giving it to me." The same answer she’d given him before.
Lloyd had been the one who won a carnival game - the ball toss, to be specific. He'd managed to down all the cans with a single ball and gotten the choice of any of the first-place prizes. Zelos had raised an eyebrow and asked him how he'd gotten past the unfair odds. Lloyd had sheepishly scratched the back of his head and said it was a lucky accident, one that he couldn’t repeat, which proved to be true in his later attempts.
Lloyd had taken one look at the prize pool, pointed out the Siberian Husky plush to the staff, and then stuffed it into her hands the moment he'd gotten it, proclaiming that it was a gift for her. Zelos had been outright snickering, while even Sheena had looked like she was holding back laughter, shoulders shaking.
Lloyd's hand found hers in the little space between them, his thumb rubbing the skin of her palm just below her fingers. It was a repetitive, soothing motion, helping to calm her down.
She hoped that, no matter what, they would always stay together. Whether as friends or more. Just the two of them.
"I'm glad you like it." Lloyd's voice was getting progressively quieter with each syllable his lips formed, slowly shifting right along the seat towards her.
“Can - can I…” Lloyd asked timidly, turning to face her and leaning closer. Her field of vision narrowed to just his face, barely lit by the scant light that reached them from the carnival grounds and the spokes of the Ferris wheel. Everything else was slowly turning into a blur. “Can I kiss you?”
The carriage had reached the top of its revolution. Through the window, she could see the sparkling lights of the high-rises in the distance. Silence suffused the air as no one spoke, the world itself seeming to hold its breath, neither she nor Lloyd moving a single part of their bodies as they stared at each other. His eyes were wide, filled with such incredible emotion, built up over years and spilling over at this very moment.
Her breath caught in her throat, a current of warmth making itself known in her heart at the fact that he’d actually bothered to ask. She’d expected Lloyd to - the kind, considerate soul that she’d come to know and love, but somewhere in the back of her mind was tucked the irrational fear that there would never be anyone who respected her boundaries, simply because she wasn't worth it.
She took a deep breath, preparing her answer. It wouldn’t be “normal”, that was for sure. It wasn’t a simple yes or no, but rather…
“Is it fine if it’s on the cheek?” were the quiet words that left her mouth, shattering the expectant silence as her grip tightened on the plushy. Maybe one day, she wouldn’t mind a kiss on the lips, but not today. She wasn’t up to it yet.
She doesn’t know what answer she expects. Probably a no. It’s perfectly understandable for Lloyd to just step away.
“Of course,” Lloyd replied instantly, the gentle smile on his face once again shattering all the preconceived notions she’d constructed in her head, absolutely terrified of rejection but huddling herself into a corner in the belief that that was all she could possibly receive. There had been no hesitation behind that statement, no hint of reproach or anger or irritation towards her.
“Yes.” The word slipped out without any thought, for she herself had yearned for so terribly long. The desire she had always held to love, and to be loved, despite everything - to experience it all with the boy that had always been part of her life and that she hoped could continue to be there for the rest of it.
She turned her head to the side, and it didn't take another moment longer before Lloyd pressed his lips against her cheek, one hand still holding hers while his other arm wrapped around her shoulder, the plushy trapped between them. He was nothing if not gentle, bringing up her earliest memories of being kissed on the cheek by her mother, before she had left her life forever. It was through that gentleness that the force of his love was truly impressed on her - for there was passion there, in the very act of holding himself back. Love, gentle like a warm flame, but not any lesser for it, for his love was just as impregnable as a brick wall, unyielding and unbreaking.
She could feel his warm breath against her cheek, his lips softer than she could have thought, his hair close enough to run her hands through as she’d always wanted. So she did, letting the strands fall through her fingers like melted chocolate.
Was he… smiling? It sure felt like it.
It wasn't a magical moment like people always said the first kiss would be like. After all, theirs was nowhere close to conventional, but it was an experience that belonged only to them. No sparks were flying in the air, nor did time stop. It was just the two of them, fitting together perfectly like puzzle pieces in the way they always had, and she couldn't ask for anything more.
Lloyd moved away, his arm dropping from her shoulder, hand joining the other to clasp her limp one. His eyes were shining with joy, the same joy that filled her heart and made it feel like it might take flight at any time. Everything had finally fallen into place.
Her whole face was now on fire as she turned away, leaning forward over her legs. Her hair fell by the side of her face like a veil, letting only tiny glimpses of Lloyd through.
“You’re sure?” she asked, knowing that she needed to clarify. Even if his actions had been the shining light that burned away most of her doubts, some still remained. Lloyd really, truly needed to understand what he was getting into. She would not let him mindlessly enter into a relationship with her without knowing about all the ups and downs, all the complications that would come with it. That would only end in them hurting each other, and then they might never be able to stand the sight of each other again. It was the dreaded future she never wanted to come to pass. “It’s not going to be easy."
“I know,” he replied, squeezing her hand, his russet eyes focussed on hers. “But all relationships have challenges, don't they? We'll figure it out together, just like always. And if it doesn’t work out, then we’ll stay as friends, forever. I just want you to know that I love you.”
There is nothing but burning conviction behind his words, and a determination that reached deep into her soul and lit a flame of hope.
There would be many more difficult conversations that needed to be had, candid discussions that would need to take place. But for now, she didn't say anything more, hoping the unspoken “I love you” from her side could be understood, clear as day. She still couldn’t make herself say it, the final lingering doubt that she suspected would never fully go away holding her back: that romantic love had to go hand in hand with sexual attraction, and that one could not exist without the other.
She simply closed her eyes, leaning against him and enjoying the gentle rocking of the carriage for the remainder of their time on the Ferris wheel.
~~~
25-years-old
"Remember this Ferris wheel?" Lloyd teased Colette, squeezing her hand as they stood in front of the Ferris wheel at the reopened carnival. It wasn't the exact same one they’d ridden at the age of 18, for that one had been deconstructed years ago. But it was a near-perfect replica, down to the purple lights that lit up the spokes, though the hearts were gone. Even the bored attendant who was barely paying attention to her duties was right!
"How could I forget?" Colette laughed, her trademark bright smile on her face. Even after knowing her for twenty years and dating her for seven of those years, the sight of her smile never failed to light a spark in his chest.
At least this time Colette was dressed appropriately for the colder night, in a pencil skirt and a long-sleeved collared blouse with a few frills. She looked a lot more put-together than him, who was just wearing plain old jeans. He had picked her straight up from work before driving them here, after all.
All that was missing was the staff pass that she’d removed from around her neck and left in the car. Her smart-casual image, however, was completely shattered by the pair of grey dog ears poking out of her hair, attached to the headband sitting behind her ears. They even felt furry to the touch, though it wasn’t real dog fur.
A pair of brown ears sat on his own head. Colette hadn’t managed to win a grand prize at the game stalls like he once had out of dumb luck, but she'd managed to do pretty well at the ring toss, scoring almost all of her tosses onto the red-rimmed bottles. That meant she could redeem a few mid-tier prizes, so she'd gotten two headbands with dog ears attached, one for her and one for him that he could wear if he wanted to. He'd put it on immediately. Now they matched! He needed to take a picture of them sometime - Sheena and Zelos would appreciate the cute image.
More like Sheena would strangle him over digital space if he didn't send cute photos.
The carnival had finally returned after four years of absence, and he and Colette had jointly decided to return almost immediately upon hearing the news. It was small and honestly not that impressive compared to other theme parks they’d been to, but it still held precious memories. And it would make for a fun date, which it certainly had so far!
They'd retraced their steps from years ago, though unfortunately, they were lacking Zelos and Sheena. First riding the pirate ship, Colette’s hair going wild in the air as the ship swung from side-to-side, then visiting the game stalls, laughing at each other’s absolutely horrendous attempts, then buying and sharing a stick of cotton candy between them, taking turns biting from the fluffy substance and having their tongues curl from the overload of sweetness, before finally arriving back here at the Ferris wheel.
"I know I've said this already, but thanks for planning this all out," Colette said, linking her arm with his and smiling up at him as they joined the queue. The queue was much longer today, amounting to more than 40 people, by his rough estimate. It was still quite early in the evening, half of the sun still peeking over the horizon, the sky painted in a pink that would soon be darkening to orange. It was just as noisy as in the past, perhaps even noisier, for the families hadn't gone home yet. "There were quite a few kerfuffles with the system at work today, and this really helped."
"That bad?"
"Mm. We had a new intern come in today, and then the old system just decided to crash. Not the intern's fault, she's the sweetest girl. But it was still a headache to deal with."
"Well, I'm glad it helped. Though I'm just happy to spend more time with you."
If everything went according to plan, then he'd be seeing a lot more of her in the future.
He shoved his hand into his pocket, checking that the all-important box was still there. It was the crux of this whole operation, and he could not lose it.
Colette laughed, a sound that inevitably made him smile. "I'm sorry I haven't been free for the past few weeks. It's a busy time for the company."
"It's alright. I'll be starting work soon too, after all. Besides, we still stay two floors apart. There's pretty much no way we don't see each other every week, silly."
"Sorry, sorry. Shouldn't be a downer; you're right. Anyway, since tomorrow’s a public holiday, want to spend it over at my place?”
“Netflix and chill?” Lloyd answered, well aware that he was probably getting some weird looks from people close enough to overhear him. He wasn’t even sure if Colette knew of its double meaning - she was generally completely clueless about the world of euphemisms. Over time, they’d just started co-opting the phrase. After all, their time together at each other’s place was mostly spent… watching shows while curled up together on the couch, creating dishes that were more like unrecognisable disasters in the kitchen while attempting not to set the whole place on fire, or Colette playing video games at the foot of the bed while he tickled her neck with his toes. In terms of risque activities, they so rarely happened - and only after he checked, double-checked and triple-checked that Colette was feeling up to it and not forcing herself for his sake.
“I don’t mind, but we haven’t finished that card game we started last month. The card piles are still sitting untouched on my bay window. Wanna do that instead?”
“Sure!” He replied enthusiastically. Board games or card games always promised a good time, if infuriating when nothing would line up and Lady Luck was decidedly not smiling on him. Colette seemed to get all the luck in these party games. Maybe it was consolation for tripping all the time.
“It’s such a shame that Zelos and Sheena aren’t here,” Colette said, pulling out her phone. “I know they went on the Ferris wheel the year after we did, but we still haven’t gotten that group photo we were supposed to.”
“One’s in Europe and one’s in Australia. There’s no way they could join us on such short notice.” The last he'd heard from them, both were doing well for themselves and very happy in their long-distance relationship.
“True. I guess I can add them to the photo afterwards with the power of Photoshop. Oh, and Zelos sent me this really weird message...” After a few swipes of her finger, Colette shoved the bright phone screen under his nose.
Zelos Wilder: Looking forward to the good news ;)
“Do you have any idea what they mean?” Colette asked, cocking her head to the side in confusion. “They haven’t been replying to my question!”
Lloyd could feel his fingers twitching. Zelos Wilder wasn’t here, but if they were, Lloyd would have strangled them already. Trying to spoil the surprise, were they?
“It’s probably nothing! You know how they are. Always trying to cause chaos.” Lloyd shrugged, hoping he wasn’t being too obvious, as he tended to be.
“I suppose that’s true… What good news?” Lloyd could hear Colette repeating that question to herself under her breath, not quite soft enough for it to escape his notice. She didn’t seem to have noticed that anything was up with him, thankfully.
“It’s our turn! Come on, let’s get on!” Lloyd declared, just loud enough to startle Colette and cause her to nearly drop her phone. She hurriedly stuffed it back into her pocket, following Lloyd to the open carriage. She hadn't realised the space before them had completely cleared.
The attendant lazily waved them onto the open carriage with barely a glance at them, a mumbled: “Have a nice ride” leaving her mouth.
Lloyd was the first to scramble on, turning around to give Colette a helping hand - only to find her falling straight into him, having tripped over the raised step. With a shocked “Oh!” falling from her lips, Colette crashed into him, nearly knocking him flat onto the carriage seat. With a shocked yelp, Lloyd braced himself against the glass window of the carriage, barely maintaining his balance. Years of practice at stopping Colette’s sometimes fantastical falls over obstacles that weren’t visible to him had honed his reaction times to near perfection, giving him ample preparation for this situation.
The attendant continued to ignore them, gaze fixed not so discreetly on the phone sitting in her lap. The doors of the carriage slid smoothly shut, and with a jolt that nearly knocked them off balance again, the carriage set off on its journey.
"Um, sorry..." Colette apologised from her position pressed flush against Lloyd's chest, arms entangled in his. She slowly extricated herself from the mess, stumbling a few times but managing not to fall again, even with the gentle swaying of the carriage floor. He tried his best to steady her without falling over himself. She sheepishly smiled. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” Lloyd adjusted her headband, setting the ears that had been knocked crooked back into their rightful place. He’d told her multiple times that she didn’t need to apologise for tripping, but she still did, the habit too ingrained to break. It was endearing, though. “You?”
“I’m fine!” Colette smoothed out her skirt (though there weren’t any noticeable wrinkles in it from the fall,) and sat down to rest her weary feet, giving Lloyd the cue to sit down as well. “Thank goodness I wasn’t wearing heels…”
Lloyd did not want to imagine what would have happened if she was - she might have twisted her ankle, or worse. She rarely wore heels due to her clumsiness, but when she did, all sorts of accidents tended to happen.
He stuffed his hand into his pocket again, fingers feeling the velvet texture again.
It’s still here.
"What's still here?" Colette’s confused voice broke through his relieved thoughts. Her hands were resting in her lap and she was leaning forward, eyes shining with a curious light. The usual white lights of the new condominiums close to the carnival grounds shone, a few glimmers of pink visible as people celebrated Pink Dot. It was at this very moment that the Ferris wheel's lights turned from purple to pink, the spokes emanating soft pink light that washed over Colette, making her hair glisten - almost like an ethereal fairy with imaginary wings that shimmered, having come to visit him on this mortal plane. The dog ears only added to that image, somehow. Even now, the sight of her was enough to make him feel dizzy, both out of love and awe, even if he no longer blushed like an embarrassed schoolboy. Awe that she could get more beautiful every time his gaze landed on her. And awe that such an incredible person had chosen to trust him and stay with him.
He was so enraptured by the angel before him that it took a few seconds for her words to process in his mind, after which he froze in horror.
OH NO, HE’D SAID IT OUT LOUD. A thousand alarm bells were ringing in his head. Some days he was reminded that he was an adult now, and other days he was reminded that he was as much an idiot as he used to be. Some things just never changed.
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” Colette said, a teasing lilt to her voice as she rested her chin on her palm, an amused smile playing on her lips.
He could just play it off - he knew Colette wouldn’t pursue it any further if he gave off the signals to drop the topic. She was just like that: the most considerate person he knew.
But…
The original plan had been to do it on the Ferris wheel. It even had Zelos' approval. This, right now, was the perfect chance to just let the cat out of the bag. And he would grasp the opportunity in hand before it could escape him.
For he could think of no future happier than one spent Colette’s side.
Taking a deep breath, he pulled the purple box out of his pocket with a shaking hand, dropping to his knees on the surprisingly clean carriage floor, devoid of the usual spilt drinks and crumpled up tissues.
He could tell the exact moment Colette gleaned the true intent behind his actions, the blank, confused expression on her face morphing into one of shocked disbelief, eyes widening and hands flying up to cover her mouth.
Damn it, he’d completely forgotten the script he’d written with Zelos’ assistance in a back-and-forth over messages, Zelos alternating between giving actually good advice and being extremely annoying, though Lloyd had gotten them to shut up by asking them when they planned to propose. The two of them had both struggled to find the right words, since neither of them had done super well in English. But Lloyd had persevered, wanting to get his feelings across eloquently.
But now that he was staring into Colette’s blue eyes, all the words were sprouting wings and flying mockingly out of his head, leaving only blank space for him to reach uselessly for.
The one piece of advice Zelos had given him that continued to stick in his head was this: speak from the heart, and surely she would understand.
He couldn’t keep her waiting forever.
“I… ” He couldn’t help but start off slow, struggling against the block in his mind but determined to push past it. The words then seemed to just come to him, progressively faster as time went on, stumbling out of some unknown part of his mind - or perhaps it would be more accurate to say his heart. Somehow, throughout it all, he didn't drop the box despite his trembling hands. “Colette, you’re the most amazing person I know. Your compassion, your gentleness, even your clumsiness, they’re all vital parts of my life that I wouldn’t give up for anything. You are my shining star in the sky, the one that gives me hope, that inspires me to be the best version of myself. If I had the choice to relieve my life from the start, I wouldn't change a thing, because meeting you on that playground all those years ago was the best thing that has ever happened to me. All my years spent with you have been incredible, and I would like to spend many more by your side. So, just like years ago, Colette, I have something I need to ask you, right here and right now.”
“Will you… Will you marry me?” He finished, voice drifting off into silence as he flipped open the box to reveal the two plain, thin metal rings he’d bought. Colette wasn’t the type to go for flashy diamonds or colourful gems. She’d appreciate something simple like this.
He waited, the few seconds of deafening silence seeming to stretch out into eternity, broken only by the sound of blood rushing past his ears. This wasn’t the first time he’d asked this very question, if in a different and less dramatic form. He’d already received her answer once. But he would respect whatever answer she gave now, and most of all, they would keep the promise they had made at this very place: that they would always remain friends, no matter what.
~~~
Colette still couldn’t quite believe her ears, gaze flitting between Lloyd’s face and the box he was holding up towards her, the two rings housed snugly within reflecting pink light.
Marriage had crossed her mind many times. She had learned over the years that it wasn’t a penultimate goal that had to be reached to prove her relationship successful, and she’d told Lloyd as much when he’d asked her two months ago if she’d be willing to get married.
But still, even if she had managed to break free from most of the notions the fairytales of old had implanted into her head, able to just enjoy them as sweet stories now, she couldn’t quite rid herself of the dream of having a fairytale wedding. One that was perfectly planned, with family and friends present to stand witness to their union.
She’d told him yes. That she would be willing to tie the knot with him, the one she loved. The expectation of a proposal had been simmering in the back of her mind ever since, often going forgotten. She had not expected the time would be now. Lloyd had been more fidgety than normal, constantly checking his pockets while disguising the action as keeping his hands in his pockets. She’d known something was up, but his true intentions had escaped her detection until just moments before, when she’d been taken off guard. All she’d thought when he’d pulled out the box was that it resembled the ring boxes in the dramas Sheena was always recommending to her, the ones that appeared in all the emotional proposal scenes, until the realisation had hit her in the chest like a truck.
Once again, like years ago, they’d reached the top of the revolution. The silence remained unbroken as Lloyd patiently awaited her answer, not pushing her towards one. And so events repeated, mirrored across time.
Colette slowly stretched out her arm, eyes shimmering with unshed tears as a smile graced her face. She nodded, her throat blocked by all the emotions that swirled in her chest, unable to say ‘yes’ out loud even as she screamed it over and over in her mind, the tears finally breaking free of whatever barrier was holding them back to spill down her face.
Lloyd broke out into the most beautiful smile she had ever seen, radiating pure joy as he slid one of the simple, elegant, silver bands onto her ring finger. It fit. Perfectly. When had he even learned her ring size?
She picked up the other ring that was meant for Lloyd, marvelling at how her hand could somehow remain stable as the rest of her body trembled in barely contained emotion. The ring was so tiny, held between her thumb and index finger, and yet it held such significant weight as she slid it onto his ring finger, the skin of his hand rough against hers and the metal cold.
Lloyd jumped to his feet, pulling her into an embrace and pressing a kiss to the top of her head (his nose bumping the dog ears), holding her close, his happy laughter rumbling through his chest. Even now, when he must have been bursting with joy, he was still mindful of her boundaries, refusing to do anything that would cross the line. Heart filled with warmth, she pressed herself impossibly closer, intending to just melt into his arms forever -
"Please get off the carriage."
The deadpan voice that belonged to neither her nor Lloyd broke through the peaceful bubble that had been constructed around the two of them. She froze, feeling Lloyd stiffen around her as well. Looking to the left yielded the view of solid ground, and the same uninterested attendant gesturing towards it.
Ah. They'd reached the bottom without even noticing. This was… embarrassing, to say the least.
Thankfully, no one seemed to be in the queue at the moment, allowing the two of them to escape from the Ferris wheel without much attention. It appeared that only the attendant had borne witness, and she couldn’t seem to care less, having returned to the booth.
Their interlocked hands swung in the air, the matching rings glinting under the bright neon lights of the carnival as she wiped away her happy tears, both of them grinning uncontrollably.
"I love you," Lloyd said, the words leaving his lips with ease, as they always had. "Shall we go home?” he asked.
Home was with friends and family and Lloyd, the one who held her heart.
Colette squeezed Lloyd’s hand. She felt light as a feather, like she could somehow fly with wings that she didn't have.
"I love you," she replied, the words coming so easily now. "Let’s.”
~~~
The attendant shook her head, scoffing as she returned to scrolling through Twitter.
“I suppose love does make the world go round.”
all prime numbers in the Misc section and all multiples of 10 in the other sections
we shall go backwards as the question list was posted backwards...... (and also why i rbed it.... why is it backwards? i dont know but i love it. edit: now that ive seen question 1 it looks to me like one of those forum profile copy pastes where you fill out the entire thing and put it in your profile.)
200: My crush’s name is: hmm...... well. i would rather not say!!!! they could see this post!!!!!!! and we do not want that happening.......
190: My 1st job was: lifeguard in the summer after 9th or 10th grade i think? it was decently fun. i grew up swimming competitively so the swimming part was a breeze. the remembering what to do if someone is drowning part? a bit harder. memory bad. what to do if someone has a potential broken spine/head injury when they’re in deep water? i don’t know bud. but it involves 3 whole people to get them out. 2 in the water, one person at all times holding their head in line with the rest of their body, the other one strapping them to the board (these two people in the water switch off, too) and then one person standing on the side of the pool looking very concerned. also don’t tell anyone but sometimes if i had like a 6 am shift i would get really groggy and almost fall asleep on the stand.
180: Marriage is: whatever people make of it but unfortunately bogged down with like a lot of societal expectations. to me it just sounds like hanging with your “best” friend until you die but a lot of other people interpret it differently.
170: What did you do yesterday? LOL wouldn’t it be nice if i remembered. wait no i do remember. i woke up “early” and watched a dnd livestream and struggled through buffering from my shit wifi. then i took a nap. then i had a chipotle burrito that was way too spicy. and i played a lot of minecraft. and i wrote a bit. and i also did like another 2-3 pages of the codecademy html intro course im working on.
160: Soul mates: nope. [taylor mason voice] i don’t believe in the concept of a soul. you are compatible with some people more than others and that’s based on your values and interests and personality. nothing Soul about it. it’s fun in fanfic and fiction though, but that’s because it’s fiction.
150: Blondes or Brunettes: brunettes..... i like brown hair! but blonde is nice too.
140: Mac or PC: clown face emoji. mac. It’s A Unix System. more convenient for me. my current mac is a giant piece of shit though. though i think that’s my own fault for keeping all my old files from my old mac. shoulda started over. i think i might try to get this one factory reset or something.
130: Wal-Mart or Target: idk walmart. i go there a lot during college. walmart just has a larger selection. i used to go to target a lot as a kid though because my mom liked it more. i think it’s like slightly more bougie?
120: Gay Marriage: fuckin go for it pals. sad that it took as long as it did to become legal.
110: My Neighbors: they are nice i think. the ones to the right are teachers or something. the ones to the left are.... idk. their kids were like maybe 5 years older than me and my brother when we were growing up though and sometimes they would indulge in us tiny annoying kids and hang with us
100: Cried in front of someone: when the finale of the clone wars came out a few months ago and i was sobbing and i ran into the living room to tell my roommate and friend that i was sobbing. i was sobbing. i also recorded myself watching the entire eps and i Sure Was Sobbing.
90: Texted: actual sms text, yesterday in response to a friend who texted me a tik tok. instant messaging like 20 minutes ago to milo. i havent responded yet because im answering this and i cant multitask for shit.
89: Who makes you laugh the most: me obviously. i think i’m fucking hilarious. me aside, @redvsblue is the funniest person on this planet. also my friend holly irl who shares my incredibly dumb sense of humor. also you!
83: The most difficult thing to do is: hmm........ in general or for me personally? idk..... a lot? i am not a very courageous person. so i guess being brave.
79: First time you had a crush: >:( not appreciating this line of questioning that lines up with the prime numbers/mult of 10. i will not be saying as they ALSO follow me on tumblr. though they don’t use it often. shout out to middle school.......
73: Tomorrow: hopefully wake up around 1 pm at the latest. make a plum smoothie. play some more minecraft and get more netherite (new update slaps). do more coding tutorials. get some writing done. the same ol same ol.
71: Next Summer: hopefully i will have a job lined up for the fall and the pandemic is Over. i would like to just [do nothing] for the last summer Ever before job starts. if i don’t have a job then it’s Job Hunting Time.
67: The person that makes me cry the most is: what the fuck...... like in a bad way? good way? cry of laughter? sadness? me, probably. my own damn brain be like “well it’s time to think about Yourself and be sad!” i know. very narcissistic of me. also dave filoni (director, producer, writer on clone wars).
61: My Car: not really mine. i just use it. beige 201? toyota camery. my brother tried to convince my dad he needed it more than i did last school year. my brother, who lived on campus in boston and flies to school from nc when he goes there, needs the car more than me, who lived off campus and drove to and from school to get back to nc, thinks he needed the car more than me. what a guy.
59: The movie I cried at was: last movie huh......... when was the last time i saw a movie? idk probably the rise of skywalker when leia died. i don’t know. i sure as hell didn’t cry at cats.
53: How do you like your steak cooked: i am vegetarian.
47: Who’s your best friend: @worthyghouls i guess. but also concept of “best friend” is so weird. No Best Friends. just lots of people i am good friends with. feels weird to all my other friends to pick One of them and be like “well i like you more than everyone else” :)
43: Do you have a 5 year plan: only in the vaguest vaguest vaguest sense. i would like to graduate with my bs degree. i would like to live in a city (doesn’t have to be a super big one. where im at rn is fine). i would like to have my first or second job i feel comfortable doing related to the degree i am getting. i would like to live in my own apartment (with roommates)/not with my parents. i would like to not be rent burdened. i would like my roommate to know how to take care of a cat or be okay with helping me learn how to take care of one. i would like to have a cat with said roommate. and that’s about it tbh. not very ambitious, i know. i just want a simple life......
41: Have you pre-named your children: bold of you to assume i will have children. no. if i ended up with child it would be like that tag on ao3 called “accidental baby acquisition” and i would name it on the spot.
30: Actress: hmm..... lauren marcus. lauren lopez. does fiona nova count if she’s going to be in rvb zero? also lindsay jones. aubrey plaza. idk. not many actresses i follow from project to project. it’s more i will see them in something and appreciate them in that role immensely.
20: Holiday: halloween is pretty chill. just getting candy from strangers? dope. scary aesthetic? amazing. i also like christmas just for the sole fact that i get time off from [life].
10: Restaurant: a favorite restaurant??? who has one of those???? i sure don’t. and i’m not gonna say something cringey like olive garden or mcdonalds. i simply do not have one.
#not rt#teresa answers stuff#tyty for sending in#soph with the primes as always...#nothingunrealistic1
Marina Abramovic
Marina Abramovic, born on November 30, 1946 in Belgrade, is a performance artist who started her career in the early 70s and has been on the market ever since. Her work involves body art, resistance art and feminist art, the way she relationship between artist and audience, she like to explore the limits of the body and the possibilities of the mind. Acting for more than four decades, Abramovic defines herself as the "grandmother of the performance art". She was a pioneer of a new notion of identity, bringing participants, focusing on "facing pain, blood and the physical limits of the body". She was graduated and post-graduated in Fine Arts, her performances were caused in the 70s. Like the performance, Rhythm 10, Marina places herself on top of a sheet of paper with 20 different knives and two cameras pointed at her, in this performance, Marina stabs herself with the 20 different knives.
In other performance, whose name is Rhythm 5, Abramovic sought to re-evoke the energy of extreme bodily pain, using a large petroleum-drenched star, which the artist lit on fire at the start of the performance. Standing outside the star, Abramovic cut her nails, toenails, and hair. When finished with each, she threw the clippings into the flames. Burning the communist five-pointed star represented a physical and mental purification, while also addressing the political traditions of her past. In the final act of purification, Abramovic leapt across the flames, propelling herself into the center of the large star. Due to the light and smoke given off by the fire, the observing audience did not realize that, once inside the star, the artist had lost consciousness from lack of oxygen. Later, Abramovic commented upon this experience said:
“ I was very angry because I understood there is a physical limit. When you lose consciousness you can't be present, you can't perform.”
In the Rhythm 2 performance, Marina prompted by her loss of consciousness during Rhythm 5, Abramovic devised the two-part Rhythm 2 to incorporate a state of unconsciousness in a performance. She performed the work at the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, in 1974. In first part, which had a duration of 50 minutes, she ingested a medication she describes as given to patients who suffer from catatonia, to force them to change the positions of their bodies.The medication caused her muscles to contract violently, and she lost complete control over her body while remaining aware of what was going on. After a ten-minute break, she took a second medication given to schizophrenic patients with violent behavior disorders to calm them down. The performance ended after five hours when the medication wore off.
As much as I have to say that most of Marina Abramovic's works captivated me or left me a little scared and curious, I have to say that, the performance that most interested me in terms of meaning and in an accomplished way was the performance “Rhythm 0” . In this performance Marina Abramovic, gathered the audience in a room around a table full of objects. Some of these items were innocent, for example, a comb, or a lipstick, a rose and also a feather, but Marina decided to test the public’s mind and how far they would be able to go, so she left other objects that were more evil, such as chains, nails, a safety pin, a kitchen knife, a box of razor blades, a whip and even a gun loaded with a bullet. Beside them, Marina Abromovic placed a set of instructions saying that during the performance she was responsible for everything that can happen, simple as:
“Performance: I am an object. Duration: 6 hours (8 am to 2 pm). During this period, I take full responsibility ”.
What happened during those six hours proved to be a turning point in the history of performance art. Because this kind of the performance came after World War II, when artists started using bodies as their means of transmitting art. Sometimes, the results were capricious, such as that of the artist Yves Klein who painted a group of women in blue and made them roll around on the floor, leaving marks on their bodies. Sometimes it was shocking as when Chris Burden's filmed his assistant while shooting him in the arm. But Marina Abramovic decided to change the game then with her performance in Naples, which she herself called "rhythm 0", so she decided to invert the roles, the artist became the spectator of her own performance while the real performer was nothing more than the public.
The evening started softly with people caressing her, other people offered the rose that she herself had left on the table, and others left a simple kiss on her face, in the form of respect and strength for the artist. But when the Neapolitan night started to heat up, the mood get more darkened. By the third hour, Marina clothes had already been cut with razor blades. In the fourth hour, people used the same blades to cut Marina's skin. One of the persons even cut the artist's throat to drink her blood. After much humiliation on the part of the audience, someone pointed the gun at her head, at that time the group of participants who helped Marina with the exhibition, noticed that the audience had already crossed the line, and they tried to stop the audience, however this event gave I start a conflict.
Marina explains in the interview that:
"if you leave it to the public, they can kill you."
This performance can also be compared with the performance of the Austrian feminist artist and icon VALIE EXPORT that became known between 1968 and 1971 in 10 different cities in Europe.
In this performance, the artist kept her bare chest inside an improvised mini-cinema box, persuading pedestrians to put their hands inside their improvised box and touch their breasts. This was the nature of her radical and provocative performance "Tap and Touch Cinema", an experimental screenless 'film' that confronts the social, political and sexual positioning of the female body, while breaking the boundaries between cinema and real life. And it is not only this work that challenges the viewer's mind, we have as an example another EXPORT performance, “Action Pants: Genital Panic”, in 1968, where she passed by a cinema audience in leather pants without a fork, with her genitals exposed.
“I didn’t want to perform in a gallery or a museum, as they were too conservative for me, and would only give conventional responses to my experimental works. It was important for me to present my works to the public, in the public space, and not within an art-conservative space, but in the by then so-called underground ... When I was performing my actions in public, on the streets, in the urban space, new and different forms of reception developed. In the streets I provoked new explanations. I wanted to be provocative, to provoke, but also aggression was part of my intention. I wanted to provoke, because I sought to change the people’s way of seeing and thinking ... If I hadn’t been provocative, I couldn’t have made visible what I wanted to show. I had to penetrate things to bring them to the exterior.”
Like “ Action Pants: Genital Panic”, “Tap and Touch Cinema” destabilized ideas around the pleasure and sexual value of the female body, where the participant's reaction and interaction with her body took center stage. EXPORT explains to Interview magazine in 2012 that:
"Everyone can see the faces of visitors ... and how they visit with their hands." She also says that "My eyes and the visitors, both men and women, were incredibly powerful, extremely powerful and intense"
Recovering the female body and the terms by which it was seen and felt. This performance, “Tap and Touch Cinema”, inspired a series of equally controversial acts, such as "Mirror Box", by the Swiss artist Milo Moiré, who was recently accused of replicating EXPORT's innovative work. In light of her undeniable legacy and the supernatural emergence of virtual female bodies available for touch.
EXPORT was brazenly opposed to the oppressive and submissive images of women that characterized the visual culture of the 60s and 70s. As Marina Abramovic, VALIE EXPORT, invited the public to get involved with a “real” female body, instead of sensationalized images and romanticized that dominated the film, involving several senses while abandoning the vision, also making the audience become the performer and not the audience.
But like most artists, Marina, also did several performances accompanied, for 12 years. From 1976 to 1988 Marina was a lover and professional partner of the artist Ulay, where these two performed several works together.
Both Abramovic and Ulay made dozens of works of performance art. As Incison in 1978, this performance included Ulay naked running towards Marina Abramovic dressed, while this one was being pulled by an elastic rope. In the same year, Ulay and Marina created the AAA-AAA performance, in which the two yell at each other for 9 minutes.
This couple of artists, also, decided to create a performance where they show at everyone, how their relationship is, by symbolized and this performance is called Relation in Time from 1977, in which they performed together through their braided hair while walking away from each other for 17 hours.
Unfortunately, this relationship of artists and this duo, did not last forever, the couple separated in 1988, through a performance entitled The Lovers. Each artist left from one of the opposite sides of the Great Wall of China, they walk towards each other until they find themselves in the middle of the wall where they say goodbye at the end with tears and hugs.
But this wasn’t the last meeting of Marina and Ulay, in 2010, Marina Abramovic held an exhibition at the MOMA, Museum of Modern Art in New York, where she occupied the six floors with a retrospective of the artist's career. It was there that Marina's most striking presentation took place. The work, entitled "the artist is present", was inspired by her belief that extending the duration of a performance beyond expectations serves to change our perception of time and promote a deeper development in the experience itself and with you at the same time.
Sitting silently in a wooden chair and with a wooden table in front of an empty chair, she expected the audience that was watching her to sit in the chair opposite her while facing each other, sharing a simple moment of silence. For almost three months, for eight hours a day (700 hours in total). In this same performance, Ulay, her old companion of loving and professional life, decides to surprise her, sitting in the chair in front of Marina, who exchanged a touch of hands and shared, thus a moment of silence and many tears.
Dancing with the Stars: Season 27 Week 8 Review and Week 9 Predictions
Yeah, I’m sorry about this being so late. I’ve been working on a paper all week and just turned it in last night. And I’ve been busy doing everything that I put to the side for that paper, today. So here I am. Late on Friday night, typing this up to try and get it out to you all before it hits midnight on the east coast. I’m probably gonna fail, but let’s see.
As for Monday, I have few thoughts about the show as a whole. I just don’t care too much at this point. I mostly checked out after Tinashe was eliminated. I pretty much lost all ability to truly care after DeMarcus left last week. And between Joe really stinking it up and knowing that he shouldn’t be there and not wanting to be in it anymore, Bobby being fake, rude, obnoxious, immature and a chore to watch and Alexis and Alan’s stupid show showmance, I have been over this season. I want it to end now. But we have one more day. After Monday, we’re done. We just gotta last that long and that is it.
So a few things before I start. 1) I’m going to structure this by going from 4th to 1st. 2) I will talk about Juan Pablo and Joe at the end. 3) I will be saving most of my comments about the judges for a future post. So don’t worry about that.
4th Place. Alexis and Alan.
I really don’t understand how the viewers fell for this fauxmance-showmance. It was random, completely out of the blue and made absolutely no sense. But here we are. It managed to get them to the finals so I guess it did what it was supposed to. Just a note, I don’t dislike Alexis. I see some of you claiming that I do, but that is not the case. I really don’t even need to explain myself because if you’ve been here for a while, you get where I’m coming from. But here we go. I HATE SHOWMANCES. Unless I can tell that the couple is actually falling for one another (and it is easy as hell to do this. And Alexis and Alan are not that), I never want to see them. They’re annoying. Periodt. Now I do think that Alexis is sweet and nice. But I don’t see her going further than 3rd place. And at this point, 4th just seems more reasonable. Her dances on Monday night were fine. The waltz was better than her jive. I actually think her waltz was her best dance of the season. I just don’t think it deserved 10s. Her jive definitely didn’t deserve 10s. Probably 9s and 8s. At least they’re doing their Argentine tango again. That’s the only dance of theirs that I truly loved. So hopefully they improve upon that and nothing goes awry. The fs will probably be a bunch of showmance-y bs, so they can more than likely keep it.
3rd Place. Bobby and Sharna.
It hurts to put these two here. I wish I didn’t have to rank them at all. He should’ve been gone in week 2. Right after Joe. I don’t think there’s a contestant that I have despised more than I despise this man. He really thinks so highly of himself and it just doesn’t make sense to me. He really is a mediocre white man that complains about not getting what he thinks he deserves, even though he has done nothing to earn it. He reeks of entitlement and arrogance. And every week, it pisses me off. Both of their dances from Monday were not good. The jive was better than that wretched salsa, but still. It didn’t deserve 8s. Idk what their redo dance is but their freestyle is going to be a steaming hot pile of garbage.
2nd Place. Milo and Witney.
So Monday night for these two was a bit understated. I think they were screwed by both of their songs, especially for the Argentine tango. I wish the show would go back to giving people either very classical tango songs or the modern songs that are clearly inspired by tango music. Giving them that song put them at an inherent disadvantage. I thought the cha-cha was slightly better. But it didn’t have the impact that is probably necessary going into the finals. His Charleston next week is definitely going to be good. I’m kinda nervous for the freestyle, but it kinda doesn’t really matter this season since we find out the winner on Monday night. But I’m willing to bet that the judges give both him and Evanna perfect 60s. Milo just doesn’t have the momentum that Evanna seems to have. So that is why I have him in second place. However, I can totally see him winning.
1st Place. Evanna and Keo
What a season this has been for these two. And they are peaking at the right time to take it all. I really liked Evanna’s contemporary. She moved really well and I thought that was some of Keo’s best choreography. While their foxtrot wasn’t as good as their contemporary, I still really enjoyed it and thought that they did a fantastic job. I can’t wait to see their tango again. There were some small problems that I think can easily be corrected to get that 10 from Len. I’m also most excited to see their freestyle. As far as why I think they are going to win, there are a few things. First of all, like I said earlier, they are peaking at exactly the right time. And while Milo seemed to stumble a bit on Monday, Evanna soared. I think Evanna’s journey has been the most compelling to watch of anyone this season. And finally, Keo has not won before.This has helped Lindsay and Emma. So I think it might help Keo out in this situation too. And really, let’s face it. Keo has grown in ways that no other current male pro has done. If I’m being honest, he’s a strong #2 on the male side of things. And he didn’t start off that high. So watching him figure this thing out over the years is so great. Watching all of the extra time he spent outside of the show working on choreography and teaching pay off and seeing him really take the judges critiques to heart has really been a joy. And watching Keo get emotional on Monday night’s show really spoke to me. I have also been in that place where I’ve been doubted and underestimated. He has been validated and has proven that he deserves to be a pro too. And I think it finally hit him that people are actually taking him seriously for the first time during his 4 years on this show. I feel like that moment may have won them the trophy. Again, I could totally see Evanna and Milo switch places. But considering all of the factors, this seems like the most likely scenario.
So that’s that for my predictions. As far as the eliminations go, I am not surprised at all by Juan Pablo leaving. Last week we heard people talking about everyone else except for Juan Pablo. That is never a good thing. I think i may have even said that he may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Though his dancing is nowhere near as good as the judges made it out to be (he’s good, but he’s not top 5 or even top 10 male celebs with experience and neither one of his dances on Monday deserved perfect scores), he still deserved a place in the finale. I’m glad Joe left. He was over it. That was clear. And he didn’t take the spot from someone who actually wanted it. Now I would’ve been fine if he and Bobby swapped places. At least he’s not obnoxious and he has a sense of self awareness that Bobby could never even dream of.
And that’s it. It is 11:05 pm in Denver. So I failed lol. But at least I got it up. Let me know your thoughts and I will talk to you all soon.
Florence Diaries 10: Paris
It’s been a little longer than usual since I’ve written an update, but for good reason - my roommates and I just got back from our fall break trip! We’ve spent the last week travelling between Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Since Tumblr doesn’t always let me upload more than a few pictures at a time, I’ll make a separate post for each city. So here’s Paris!
We learned pretty early on in the semester that it’s a lot cheaper to fly from the other airports around Florence than to fly out of the Florence airport itself, so we booked our flight to Paris from Pisa for early Friday morning. Our flight didn’t leave until around 6 on Friday, but because it was international we had to be at the airport closer to 4, and on top of that, the only train that would get us to Pisa in enough time left Florence a little after midnight. So we left our apartment around 11 PM on Thursday night, and prepared to pull an all-nighter of travelling!
It was still too early to catch the airport shuttle from the Pisa train station when we got there, so we took a taxi instead. At the time, we didn’t think much of the fact that the taxi driver gave us a weird look when we asked him to take us to the airport at 2:30 AM - but when we got there and found out that the airport didn’t open until 4, we understood. Soooo we ended up hanging out on benches outside the airport for an hour and a half. Luckily, the wait passed pretty quickly, and soon enough we were into the airport and through security.
The airport we ended up at in Paris was Beauvais, which is pretty far outside the center of the city. So we hopped on a shuttle that dropped us off on the outskirts, and then took the Metro to close to the Louvre. And from there, the adventure officially began!
We hadn’t eaten much all day, so we started off by finding a bakery, where we bought croissants, and then a second bakery, where we bought more pastries. Then, we decided to take ourselves on a self-guided walking tour I had found online, so we set off for the Arc de Triomphe on the other side of town.
On the way there, we spotted the Eiffel Tower, so we took a detour to see it and take pictures. From there, we finally made it to the Arc de Triomphe, and then we doubled back down the Champs-Élysées. When we made it back to the Louvre, we were all pretty tired, so we decided to head to our Airbnb.
Our Airbnb was in a neighborhood pretty far outside the center of Paris, so we had to take the Metro again to get there. On our way, we stopped at a grocery store, where we managed to find Skippy peanut butter (!!) - it doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, after having nothing but Italian peanut butter for months, which is not at all the same as the American version, it was a very exciting discovery.
Before long we made it to the apartment, and the host was there to let us in. He gave us a quick orientation, and then we headed out to find dinner.
Our host had recommended a couple of pizza and sushi places, but we wanted French food, so we struck out on our own. We ended up at a place nearby that was a little expensive, but that proved to be SO worth it. I had tortellini and honestly, I think it was one of those meals I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
The next morning, we had reservations at the Louvre for 10 AM, so we set out pretty early. We took some pictures and then headed inside and separated, and I spent the next five-ish hours wandering around the Louvre on my own.
It’s hard to wrap your head around how colossal the building is: even with my map in hand, I got lost at least three times, and I’m sure I only managed to see half of the collection at best. But, of course, it was so worth the time and money! I got to see a ton of famous works of art that I knew would be there - like the Mona Lisa, Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People, the Venus de Milo, and so much more - but I also stumbled across so many things that I had heard of, but didn’t realize were at the Louvre. So that was way cool.
In the afternoon, we all met up again, and from the Louvre we walked towards Notre Dame. On the way, we bought crepes and macaroons and wandered around in the Latin Quarter for a bit, and then we jumped in the huge line at the cathedral. We got there close to closing time, and were afraid that we wouldn’t make it in, but we didn’t have any problems. And that was a good thing, because Notre Dame was absolutely incredible.
After seeing Notre Dame, we took a few more pictures and walked around for a while longer. Then, as we were getting ready to head to the Airbnb, we walked back past Notre Dame just as a light show on the facade was beginning, so that was perfect timing!
The next morning we didn’t have any big plans, so we hung around the apartment until around 11. Once we got back into the center of the city, we spent most of the day just wandering around. The high point of the day was definitely seeing Sainte-Chapelle, a Gothic chapel built in the thirteenth century to house relics from the Crucifixion. Every wall is covered in stained glass, and I thought it put even Notre Dame to shame.
From there, we walked to the other side of town to find a shop the others were interested in seeing, and then we hiked all the way back to the Eiffel Tower to see it lit up at night. We took a bunch more pictures, waited around to see the Tower glitter (which it does every hour), and then called it a night!
Our bus to Brussels didn’t leave until around 1 the next afternoon, but before that we had to make it all the way to the Charles de Gaulle airport, so we decided to just hang out in the neighborhood our Airbnb was in instead of going back into Paris. We didn’t have any trouble finding the bus terminals once at the airport, and then the bus ride itself was uneventful. And then, we started the second leg of our trip in Brussels!
100 hari Din PM dapat pujian ramai kecuali UMNO,why?...
100 hari Din PM dapat pujian ramai kecuali UMNO,why?....
Din macam Bangla tak faham Bahasa Melayu...
Sempena 100 hari Muhyiddin Yassin menjadi Perdana Menteri pada 9 Jun lalu, ternampak begitu banyak puji-pujian dan sanjungan yang sengaja direka dikalungkan terhadapnya.Terutama media arus perdana, pengampu dalam media sosial, pensyarah universiti dan tidak terkecuali pemimpin Pas, mereka dilihat bukan main gigih lagi memberi pujian kepada Muhyiddin. Terlihat pujian dan sanjungan terhadap Muhyiddin ini melebihi apa yang pernah diterima oleh mana-mana Perdana Menteri sebelum ini ketika mereka melepasi tempoh 100 hari memegang jawatan tersebut. Tak tahulah, mungkin kerana kedudukan Muhyiddin yang tidak begitu stabil dan cara beliau menjadi Perdana Menteri pula tidak mengikut normal yang sepatutnya, bak kata Duta ke Timur Tengah bertaraf menteri – ikut tebuk atap – maka pujian dan sanjungan sebegitu rupa sengaja diolah untuk menenggelamkan ketidakstabilan yang ada. Ada yang mengatakan dalam tempoh 100 hari ini Muhyiddin telah berjaya mengemudi negara dengan cemerlang, tidak berpolitik, hanya fokus kepada rakyat, layak diberikan markah A, rakyat lebih gembira dan bermacam-macam lagi kata-kata pujian yang tentunya mampu membuatkan songkok di kepalanya jadi lebih ketat daripada biasa. Cuma yang agak sedikit musykil, tidak ternampak ada pemimpin UMNO turut ghairah memberi pujian kepada Muhyiddin berbanding rakan daripada Pas yang baru merasa nikmat jawatan dalam kerajaan.
Org kata bebas rasuah bukan bebaskan perasuah...
Tetapi, jika kita jujur dan benar-benar melihat menggunakan kaca mata atau teropong yang putih bersih, bukan disaluti limpahan duniawi bertaraf menteri, benarkah Muhyiddin seorang Perdana Menteri yang boleh dikira berjaya dan layak diberi markah A? Benarkah juga beliau seorang Perdana Menteri yang tidak berpolitik dalam tempoh 100 hari, sebaliknya hanya mengutamakan rakyat semata-mata? Hakikat paling nyata ialah Muhyiddin belum teruji lagi kedudukannya kerana sejak menjadi Perdana Menteri, beliau bukan saja mengelak untuk mengadakan sidang Parlimen, malah tidak pernah sama sekali berdepan wartawan secara langsung. Dengan itu, kita tidak tahu sama ada beliau benar-benar ada sokongan majoriti atau sebaliknya. Lantaran tidak berani mengadakan sidang Parlimen, malah menangguhkan daripada 9 Mac kepada 18 Mei, kemudian menangguhkan sekali lagi kepada 13 Julai depan, itu pun belum dipastikan sama usul undi tidak percaya akan dibenar dibentang atau terus dihalang, tanggapan mudah ialah beliau masih tidak cukup sokongan di dalam Parlimen. Jika benar sudah ada sokongan, kenapa mesti menangguh-nangguhkan sidang Parlimen? Walaupun sudah 100 hari memegang kuasa, Muhyiddin juga satu-satunya Perdana Menteri yang tidak pernah berdepan secara langsung dengan wartawan. Beliau hanya berani muncul melalui perutusan khas beberapa kali di depan kamera dan tanpa pertanyaan wartawan kemudiannya. - Shahbudin Husin
Can we still look to Tun M
for another miracle?...
PM Muhyiddin's effort to combat the coronavirus outbreak has been commendable, but unfortunately this alone is not going to assure him he can always keep his PM seat, nor his party PPBM remains solid as ever. While fighting the virus, he is also trying to rope in more elected reps, Indeed, there are too many political frogs constantly making noise in the midst, totally unprincipled, dishonorable and morally depraved. Tun M is not going to be left out as he is prowling to make a comeback soon. The thing is, how many people will place their trust on this old man again, save for Pakatan Harapan? To seize the lost power, PH will still opt to dance with the devil, knowing very well he could hardly be trusted. Anwar seems to have somewhat changed in recent weeks. He has started to get tough with Mahathir, having refused to meet him on several occasions and absented himself from press conferences he chaired. Party insiders say Anwar's tolerance for Mahathir has been stretched to a limit and he is not going to submit himself to the old man any more. We all know that Anwar's attitude will sooner or later soften for the sake of power. Expectedly, the two men met again before long. On June 10, Mahathir made a personal call at PKR headquarters to attend the PH meeting to discuss the PM candidate if PH++ gets to rule again. The PM post is the only palpable barrier standing in the way of PH–Mahathir cooperation. We have yet to see whether Anwar will make himself a fool once again. Given the current political chaos in the country, political frogs have become a tradable commodity. Both Mahathir and PH are racing against time to get elected reps on their side while seizing any available opportunity to talk the 18 GPS MPs into joining them, which will significantly boost their chances of returning to power. Mahathir's son Mukhriz has claimed that PH will form a new government before the parliamentary sitting resumes in July. Both PN and PH claim they have the numbers.
The numbers are, in reality, no longer important, as frogs can hop from one side to another and statutory declarations can be signed carelessly. Mahathir has said the numbers keep appearing and disappearing and he just doesn't know whether he has the numbers! Indeed, power will make one crazy, and once the sweet taste of power is savored, it will stay etched in the mind and be grabbed back at all costs if lost. In order to grab the power, many politicians have forgotten that the power entrusted to them actually comes from the rakyat, who are their real bosses. When power is at hand, they become arrogant and would indiscriminately abuse that power. Mahathir is now working very hard to recapture that power from the hands of Muhyiddin. In addition to getting more MPs to support him, he also challenges Muhyiddin in the court over the termination of party membership of him and four others. He insists he is still the party's legitimate chairman. Muhyiddin not only needs to put up a good show in combating the virus, he also has tons of political challenges to face. To consolidate PPBM's position in the ruling coalition, he has proposed to register PN as a formal alliance, but that does not seem to work out quite nicely. Majority of PPBM leaders and members were from Umno, both parties sharing very identical DNA. No one can tell for sure MPs defecting to PPBM post-GE14 will not go back to Umno one day. Which side will these people stand if a snap election is called soon, or if Muhyiddin's administration would last until the next general election is due?
There were as many as 46 parliamentary seats that saw three-cornered fights among Umno, PAS and PPBM in GE14. Of these seats, PPBM only won ten while Umno and PAS took 30 and six respectively. It will be inconceivable for Muhyiddin to get Umno to hand over these seats to his party, and pro-Mahathir former education minister Maszlee Malik is skeptical PPBM can even retain the existing ten seats. The fundamental support bases of these three parties are all Malay-dominant constituencies. Once the Parliament is dissolved, all these parties will be operating on their own. Neither Umno nor PAS is going to negotiate seat allocation with you! Muhyiddin was unlucky enough to have assumed the PM post at a time the country's coronavirus outbreak was on the verge of an explosive growth. And with the virus now somewhat under control, he has to muster all his energy to tackle the siege from PH and Mahathir. Mahathir has never absented himself from the Malaysian governments during the past four decades. Save for his 22 years as prime minister, he also made himself visible during Abdullah's and Najib's administrations. He took out Abdullah to install Najib, and then took out the latter to become PM himself, again. This February, his rushy resignation killed the PH administration, and he was then fighting to get reinstated. He will not call it a day until Muhyiddin—the unpresumable eighth prime minister who betrayed and unseated him—is taken out of office. Mahathir still has the clout, and is now making advances towards becoming the country's ninth prime minister, another world record indeed! But, can we still look to him to deliver another miracle? - Pook Ah Lek, Sin Chew Daily
Najib's Races Plans Into Action
To Get Off The Hook?...
The moves to get charges dropped against UMNO’s warlords appear to have moved into urgent top gear – is this a sign that the coup coalition fears time may be running out? Yesterday the former AG Apandi (who in 2016 declared that the 1MDB investigation proved no evidence of wrongdoing whilst waving the incriminating evidence for all to see) was once more put to work seeking to allege the prosecutor in Najib’s 1MDB trial was compromised. Now, it has emerged, Najib’s allies immediately headed down to the police station reporting alleged ‘treason’ against former PM Mahathir Mohamad in connection with the issue!
Tactic to excuse charges being dropped After years of silence on such matters Apandi made his surprise intervention claiming that the prosecutor leading the case against Najib in the 1MDB trial, Gopal Sri Ram, was somehow compromised because, according to Apandi, Sri Ram asked him whilst he was Attorney General to proceed against Najib over 1MDB back before the GE14 election. In short, it appears that Sri Ram, a former federal judge, had advised Apandi to do his job. It may seem a stretch, but the coup conspirators need some sort of fig leaf to excuse evident plans to use the hijacking of the Malaysian government to drop the multiple charges of theft against Najib and fellow UMNO warlords and it seems they have chosen this. Naturally, they have made their attack as aggressive as possible suggesting that it is Mahathir and Sri Ram* who should be jailed, not the man who accepted stolen billions of public money into his private bank accounts. According to the police report, placed by UMNO Supreme Council Member Lokman Adam (who has been charged with contempt for threatening witnesses at Najib’s trial): “The previous AG Tan Sri Apandi revealed a part of his book that Gopal Sri Ram, a retired Judge, had passed on Dr Mahathir’s request that Apandi arrest and charge Najib, the PM at that time. When asked why Najib had to be arrested and charged, Gopal replied that this was to be done for no reason as many people would like it. The actions of Gopal were treacherous because they were tantamount to bringing down a legitimate government. Apandi’s revelations are serious and worry me because as soon as Dr. Mahathir became PM, he appointed Gopal Sri Ram as the prosecutor involving the cases of Najib and Rosmah. The purpose of this report is to enable the police to investigate the truth of Apandi’s statement in view of the fact that he has CCTV coverage as proof and also witnesses in support. If true, Dr, Mahathir and Gopal Sri Ram have to face justice.” [English translation] This may seem ridiculous, however Najib’s artful lawyers will doubtless concoct a tale of prejudice over which they plan to troop into their newly appointed AGs office to demand charges be dropped. Then they will hope for relative plain sailing steered by money and connections.
Najib makes new attempt to disqualify Sri Ram as prosecutor
Once ‘Bosku’ is back and distributing his stolen cash again, according to this script, charges can indeed be brought against all the people who earlier sought to bring him to book. Ideally, they will hope to achieve all this without calling Parliament at all (it has already been illegally prorogued under ’emergency’ declarations by the PM without a mandate). If necessary, they will aim for a Covid election inflamed by the racial tensions they have stoked for years to cover up their criminal activities. This move doesn’t get Najib off his SRC case, of course, which has a separate legal team or Rosmah off her cases either. However, now the ball is set rolling the legal network is already abuzz with talk of pressure being brought to bear in all directions. This was how Najib/BN operated pre-GE14 as the country knows. They think money and establishment friends will help them pull it off. Rosmah herself has set the tone, with the angry announcements emerging yesterday that her Hermes bag collection (which she has plainly been set on getting back) has been tainted by markers made by police. They are branded forever as criminal items, which might spoil it for her if she tried to sport them publicly once more. An independent police force would, of course, dismiss this discredited UMNO bigwig’s interventions. BN/PN bullies will press their case with Najib’s high stakes gamble to overturn the verdict of GE14 and cheat the rule of law. - Sarawak Report
Aaaayyyy so I found a post where someone shared their top 20 favorites and I decided I wanted to make my own to xD I made this template myself and I have a blank one (tho without text at all, I can input the “Top 20 Favorite Shows” if anyone wants me to). If you wanna do your own with my template, just shoot me an ask or PM!
Hit the read more if you really want to know my opinions on each. I suck at summarizing so it is a bit of a read, sorry about that heh
20) American Dragon: Jake Long - I thought this was the coolest show when I was a kid and I would always try to watch it whenever possible. Tho, while its not as cool now to me as it was back then, I still love this show and its characters
19) Milo Murphy’s Law - As soon as I saw the first ep, I just knew I was going to love this show. I’m a bit behind as of now but I cannot wait for new episodes! This show has a lot of charm and great characters, not to mention catchy songs!
18) Code Lyoko - I absolutely adored this show as a kid and it still holds up as a big fav now. The whole idea of going into a virtual world really fascinated me as a kid. I mean yeah sure Digimon had that to, but I was never really lucky in catching it on TV. Plus, the idea of the virtual world being animated in 3D while the real world was in 2D? Sign me up!
17) Xiaolin Showdown - Another show that I adored as kid and still do now. The characters and animations really made this show for me. I love how they all react with each other and some of the expressions it had to offer are top notch. And let me tell ya, this show has probably one of the funniest villains out there, Jack Spicer. He cracked me as a kid and no matter how times I rewatch the series, he still cracks me up
16) SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron - I never grew up with this show but I had just recently finished watching it for the first time. The animation for this show, especially at the time, feels amazing and it really does have this nice 90s feel to it. The show itself is really fun to watch and I am a suckers for cats and cool aircrafts. The SWAT Kats’s Turbokat is almost just as cool as an Arwing! I find the characters to be really likable and while I do question some of the designs for the female characters, I overall just really enjoyed them all
15) The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius - Jimmy himself was a huge part of my childhood and it still saddens me that his show doesn’t air on TV anymore. The characters are incredibly memorable to me, especially Sheen. The humor in this show never fails to get me to laugh and I always loved the interactions between a good chunk of the characters
14) Wander Over Yonder - I fell in love with this show after just watching a few episodes. The characters are well-written and the art is jaw-dropping, well, to me at least heh. The show itself is generally very sweet and the humor is great as well! I also adore the fact that Wander himself is always willing to help and its always kind to others. He’s a protagonist that we all need in our lives. Hopefully, we’ll get a season 3 someday
13) Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja - Love puns? Love action? Love ninjas? Well, this show is definitely for you (maybe). This show has a lot of cheesy jokes and puns, which is something I can appreciate. Puns are always an easy win for me haha The characters themselves to I find to be really likable, especially the main protagonists, Randy and Howard. The villains to are really entertaining as well. The animation for the show can be pretty awesome at times and its a shame that nobody talks about it
12) Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood) - Despite my distaste for blood and guts kind of violence, I couldn’t help myself from watching this anime. The story was amazing in every sense of the word. I’ve never watched anything before that has played with every single emotion I have (and I’m emotional to so that’s saying a lot I suppose haha). The characters and their development was well done as well. I highly recommend this show to anyone who hasn’t seen it (and can stomach the violence)
11) Avatar: The Last Airbender (and by extension, Legend of Korra) - I’m a complete sucker for elemental stuff, which is probably my favorite aspect of this show. Watching the characters fight each other with an element is pure entertainment for me. And speaking of entertainment, the humor. My goodness, this show wasn’t just action-packed, but also hilarious. The character development to is astounding and I’m sure we know just how well-written Zuko’s arc was (like damn son, it felt like a real experience almost). Another show I highly recommend to anyone, along with its sequel series
10) My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - I remember just how shocked I was when I watched the first episode and found myself loving it. I was never expecting a girly show like this to be as good as it is (and don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with a cartoon being girly, I just expected to be aimed for little little kids). I adore the animation, the characters, the story (when its present) and the lessons that each episode teaches. This show will never stop being entertaining to me, no matter what anyone else has to say
9) Animaniacs - I would’ve rated this show higher but I had to consider every segment the show has, not just personal favorites. Despite that, tho, I absolutely adore this cartoon. I didn’t grow up with it, but I first found it about 5 years ago and have loved it since then. While there are some segments that I strongly dislike, the ones I do love are completely worth it. Buttons & Mindy, Rita & Runt, Slappy Squirrel and the Warners made this show for me and I love them all (especially the brothers ha). The humor is some of the best I’ve seen in cartoons to
8) Over the Garden Wall - This miniseries captured my heart almost instantly. The animation, the story, the characters, I just can’t really hate anything from this show. I love how scary and unsettling the characters can be but yet there’s always a simple reason behind them (well, not always lol). And Greg, like come on, how can you hate this kid. True, he was annoying every now and then, but his innocence and his “words of wisdom” just makes him really likable, to me at least. I can rewatch this show over and over and I can never be tired of it
7) Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy - Whenever I think of cartoons, this one is usually the first to come to mind. This was one of my big favorites as a kid and its still one now. The humor in this show is great and its a gift whenever Ed speaks. And there’s just something special about how the entire show was animated and I can never truly put it into words on just how much I love it. Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy is just one of those where I can’t really explain why I enjoy it so much, but trust me, if you haven’t seen it, its well worth your time (and it also has a really catchy theme song)
6) Pokemon - And by Pokemon, I mean the entire series, not just a specific arc or two. Before I was even into the games or just the Pokemon themselves, I enjoyed watching the anime even as a little kid. The anime is really the only reason why I got into the games in the first place. I know the series can be repetitive, some arcs more than others, but I just can’t stay away. I love Ash, Brock, Misty, Dawn, Serena, Clement, Team Rocket and etc. The slapstick humor in the original season is probably the best of this show’s humor but as the years went on, the battles have become better and better and I just love that. I just love Pokemon and no matter what people say about the anime, I still enjoy it to this day!
5) Watership Down - I would have never imagined liking this show as much I do. I mean true, I’m a sucker for rabbits, but I wasn’t sure if this show was truly great or not, but hey its at number 5, its obviously great! Yeah, the animation and some of the voice acting is quite lacking and the design and voice change in season 3 was hard to adjust to, but the story and characters are well worth it. Its definitely one those gems that don’t get a lot of attention, I highly recommend this show!
4) Generator Rex - Similar to Watership Down, I went in not expecting to love it as much as I do now. I knew the show was going to be great, but boy do I love it or what. Like dudes, this show is incredibly underrated. The whole concept with the nanites and E.V.O.s are just insanely cool. It also had a crossover episode with Ben 10 which was an awesome episode to say the least (also Ben merged with Rex in his Upgrade form and it was freaking sick). Like seriously, if I were to try to explain why I love this show so much, we’d be here for a while. Just please, watch this show if it interests you
3) The Amazing World of Gumball - I fell in love with this show upon seeing the first episode and by that I mean I became obsessed. I love everything about this show. The characters, animation, humor, the references, designs, just everything! And seriously, if there’s any kind of animation I had favored the most from a cartoon, its this one. I adore this show so much and I literally cannot wait for the next episode. It sucks that more story related shows, like Steven Universe and Star vs the Forces of Evil (both of which are still great, don’t get me wrong), takes all the attention away from this one. Its sort of underrated in that sense but seriously trust me, everything about this show is completely worth it. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend this one
2) Teen Titans - Aaahh Teen Titans, was obsessed with it as a kid and I still am now (to bad its hard to find stuff to reblog bleh). This is just one of those shows were I can’t explain why I love it as much as I do. I mean, I know I’ve repeatedly said this (because I’m actually bad explaining why I like things and tend to reuse the same sentences over and over oops) but like, I simply adore the characters and the stories. While Starfire lacked some good character development, the rest of the characters really grows and it never gets boring watching their arcs over and over. Like, I don’t know why I can never bored of this show, but I can’t. I just love it to much (and it also has one of the best theme songs ever)
1) Fairly OddParents - No no no, not the newer seasons. The older seasons! This show was my jam back as a kid and surprise surprise, its still my jam now. Excluding shows meant for toddlers, this was the first cartoon I ever got into (probably, it could’ve been SpongeBob or Looney Tunes but I kind of doubt it). This show means more to me than I could ever say. This show sparked an interest for animation and helped really get me into drawing. I was always interesting in drawing, but this show was what pushed me to keep going. It was also the first show I ever drew fan art for. I remember drawing Timmy and Cosmo almost nonstop for a year there, back when I was 2nd grade and finally taught myself how to draw them. I remember making comics with these characters, sharing and reenacting jokes with friends, never shutting up about it aahhh and come on, well all remember the Jimmy Timmy Power Hours, that crossover was legit the coolest one for me. This show is incredibly important to me and despite the direction the show has gone now, it’ll forever remain as my favorite show <3
Disney Channel Updates
So a while ago I made a post on how I would fix Disney Channel, and it got a ton of notes. So I decided to list the things that happened since then:
Dog with a Blog reruns are finally gone!!! Thank God!!!! Girl Meets World and Austin and Ally still air reruns at midnight. Best Friends Whenever and Good Luck Charlie air reruns on the weekends at midnight. Liv and Maddie has reruns at incredibly awkward timeslots like 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Jessie keeps it's frequent daytime reruns.
Regarding shows I want cancelled: K.C. Undercover may be ending after season 3 because Zendaya wants to leave Disney Channel. Bunk'd has been renewed for a 3rd season, ugh.
Andi Mack season 2 is coming on October 27. 2 days before my birthday, yay!!!!!
There is kind of an animation block. Shows like Tangled: The Series, Hotel Transylvania: The Series, and Pat the Dog air before and after the Disney Junior block. What I would do is throw The ZhuZhus in there, as well as Mickey Mouse (2013), Descendants: Wicked World, and Star Wars: Forces of Destiny in between, just for variety. Also, I would air Elena of Avalor at the start and end of the Disney Junior block.
Every episode of Hannah Montana was removed from the Disney Channel app except for the Achey-Jakey Heart 2-parter. No fair. However, every episode of That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, and The Proud Family are still up on there.
The 10th anniversary of Wizards of Waverly Place is on October 12. I hope Disney Channel puts the show back on their app and airs a marathon of it, because it's their longest running show, and one of their best shows.
I hope Disney Channel continues to improve because ever since Good Luck Charlie ended and the cartoons were booted to Disney XD in 2014, I've only been watching Disney XD since then because they've got reruns of Gravity Falls, Lab Rats and Phineas and Ferb, as well as Milo Murphy's Law, DuckTales 2017, Mech-X4, Star Wars Rebels and Billy Dilley.
