i think tim was hard to talk to. but not hard in the way that he joked too much. no, in the way that he was standoffish and short with people. he had a goal, a drive, and he couldn't let anyone or anything distract him.

(cough buried tim drowning under grief cough desolation tim prepared to burn the world down cough lonely tim who has no one at all and barely had danny before he disappeared cough i could go on)

sasha was the one who drew him out of his shell. who took him out to the bar, to loosen up. she became his single spot of light in the dark cave that he was lost in.

and then jon, who was a little too much like him that it kind of jolted tim out of the headspace. he ate lunch with jon, they helped each other with research, they grew close ish. tim is the only person who knows about georgie.

and then jon got promoted and sasha didn't and he was just a little bitter towards jon. jon is still his friend, so he tried to hide it behind jokes and a smile, because he's gotten back into the mindset of 'humor to cope', but still.

and then sasha is gone and jon is Becoming and danny is—and the circus—

and then nothing, because tim is no more.

Jon Kent looked up at Nightwing, amazed by the man standing before him. Nightwing glanced around for a moment, wondering why the young superhero was staring at him.

Jon: You're so cool-looking and so handsome! You could be a model.

Nightwing (pointing at himself): Me?

Jon (nodding): Mm-hm.

Nightwing: Oh, thank you! But I'm more than just a pretty face, though my face is perfect, too.

Jon: You're so right! Yet you fight crime, you're a true hero! I've heard stories about you, and… and you're just as awesome as Batman! If not more!

Superman (laughing): Oh! Oh wow! I— I needed that! I should've recorded that!

Batman (crossing his arms): Alright, it's not that funny.

Nightwing (proud smile): Really? Aww, thank you! I trained with him, but I'm only human.

Jon (bouncing): You're like a superhuman, and you're so nice! You’ve done so much in such a short time as a hero. You're like twenty, right?

Superman laughed harder in the background, while Batman grew annoyed. Nightwing smiled, grateful for his good skincare routine.

Jon stopped bouncing and gave Nightwing a big hug. The hero stared down at the child, surprised this was happening again.

Nightwing: I get that you admire me, and being excited about meeting me again makes sense, but if you don’t mind me asking, why? You have superpowers.

Jon: And you save the day without them!

Jon sniffled with a smile that made Nightwing smile back.

Jon: I want to be like you someday!

Nightwing (picking up Jon and hugging him tighter): And you will! I’ll make it happen! Bruce, call a guy!

Batman: I'm not calling a guy. Clark, quit laughing!

Superman had to excuse himself as he laughed at his friend’s jealousy and annoyance at being upstaged again.

Nightwing: Jon, I can't promise to be the perfect role model for you, but if you ever need help with training, you can call me.

Jon: Aww, yay!

Batman (mumbling monotone): That is adorable.

Regarding damian being a mini talia, jondami would have more recognization as their own thing instead of diet superbat when ppl(or dc) realize they are not just their fathers' sons they are lois and talias sons. Jon is smart like lois, he's such a mama's boy! I am also tired of ppl attributing damians "good" qualities to bruce dick or Alfred, talia attended med school, and the al ghul love animals.

I also think that Jon and Damian having the pressure of their father's mantles does more harm to them than good, cus if we think about the constant pressure that they're probably under to live up to those expectations, it's exhausting.

I believe Jon gets his stubbornness (the will to never give up for what he believes is the right thing to do) and temper from his mom and that she's a constant grounding for him in the sense that she reminds him that he is not his dad and he doesn't have to be like his dad and that is okay (I also like to think that Damian kind of reminds Jon of his mom sometimes, I just think it's a cute thought). And if Jon did decide to take up the Superman mantle I would like to see him take more of Lois's values. (obviously his dad's values would still also be there I just think he'd probably go to Lois first for advice)

As for Damian I'm happy to see that he's deciding to try and take a different path for himself in the current canon. And you're right both sides of his family are doctors so him taking an interest in it definitely makes sense and I'm happy for him but I think a small part of me would have also liked to see him diverge a little from that path too cus it kind of feels like he's replacing one mantle with another.

Like I saw a post somewhere saying that they would have liked him to take up veterinary instead cus again you're right his love of animals have always been there way before he ever started living with Bruce. Or that it would have been nice to see him take on being an artist full time and being someone who creates joy and commentary with his art and I just thought that take was neat.

And as for him possibly taking up being Batman I just don't know if I'm being honest with you. There are really only two people I can see taking up the mantle and those two people are Tim (if we ignore the fact that his future self tried to kill Jon lol) and or Cassandra.
