Slithering through the weekend like 🦎🐍🦖🤣🤣 I am a huge fan of this movement pattern, the prone contralateral crawl for all the fellow nerds reading. Low level of intensity, effective mobility drill for hips and shoulders, turns on the entire core and back, no equipment, easy to teach, and can be done by most populations. 🐵 I will explain some of the reasons I like it, but first to note is that it just feels good / effective and it is kinda fun to do. 🤷♂️🤸♂️ There is some great research linking contralateral limb training to helping activate hemispheres of the brain at the same time and increase corpus callosum (the middle bridge of tissue between the left and right sides) thickness. You will notice when starting / learning / first practicing this movement, it might take a little more brain power to make it look smooth than you think. (It's the same pattern as a versaclimber for my trainer and athlete homies out there). 🤯 The hips and shoulders go through a relatively full range of motion (flexion and external rotation on one side of the body and internal rotation with extension on the other side of the body) under a light resistive load (the friction from the floor). This allows for EPIC mobilizing and activating of the joints and muscles through the core, back, arms, and legs. My whole body feels more limber and "warmed up" afterward. 💪 I also personally notice that it helps me improve my mind-muscle connection to my lats quite a bit without allowing for a lot of deviation / compensation from other areas - especially due to the unilateral (single sided) pulling aspect, which is a great isolation movement to fire up the lat. #kfitpro #mobilitytraining #mobilitydrill #teamslitherin (at Kempf Fitness Professional) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwfafUOHgQj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2jruy789klvb

Broomstick Mobility Drills One of the best warmup routine has the most inexpensive tool, a stick 🧹 If you want to improve mobility on your rotator cuffs, fix rounded shoulder (postural) have a better mobilization of the pectoral and a safe engagement of your shoulder blades you can’t go wrong by using this warm-up, so if you don’t want to appear hunched over, make sure to keep your shoulders nice and flexible! In my opinion, this routine is often so underrated and I see people in the gym warming up with weights instead .. And I’m one of them sometimes I admit it, BUT if you try out this warm up before doing anything else you will definitely feel a better “confidence” throughout the rest of your workout because you will “unlock” your muscle/joints/tendons system and grease the groove in all ranges of motion. Try it out and you’ll thank me later 😎 ▪️Back and Front Raise ▪️Figure N 8 ▪️Ups Downs Passthrough ⚠️When doing these exercises, don’t try to push too much through the tightness! You should feel a nice stretch when you do them, but never push yourself so far that it causes pain. Rushing can cost you an injury. Take it slow at first, especially if you know that you’re super tight or if you’ve had problems with your shoulders in the past.
