Ji Ji's mods don't work / I don't think most are patched atm and my laptop isn't functional enough for me to just overhaul him anyway. Soon enough I'll have a desktop and just redo it all myself... but for now I'll just have to doodle him.

SEA'S COMMUNITY COMPENDIUM UPDATE
We have a massive one today! Huge thanks to a close friend of mine who sent me every single bookmark of xiv resources she had. 💖
Additionally, a good handful of these resources were sourced from a list originally created by @rinhkitty, which you can find here. I have tried to include the more recent/active of the lot, so it's not a one-for-one. Thank them for a lot of the large scale resources you'll find below! ✨
As of 04/12, I have added the following resources (in no particular order) to Sea's Community Compendium for FFXIV Creatives:
LARGE SCALE
GARLAND TOOLS — Contains XIV resources such as Garland Data, everything database, crafting lists and equipment calculators; Garland Bell, gathering timers, collectable resources and hunt windows; and FFXIV Fisher, daily fishing windows, bait paths and catch checklist. Maintained by Clorifex Ezalor of Zalera.
TEAMCRAFT — Create crafting lists and collaborate with others, set gathering alarms, simulate crafting rotations, and more!
CAT BECAME HUNGRY - FFXIV ANGLER — Contains everything and anything to know about fishing including specific fish guides, location, baits, aquarium fish and more!
FFXIV - CRAFTING AS A SERVICE — Crafting information and planning for FFXIV!
FFXIV GARDENING — The FFXIV Gardening Database is a collection of everything related to gardening in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. It was created to organize and visualize the results obtained from crossbreeding.
SIGHTSEEING LOG HELPER — This tool will help those trying to complete their pesky Sightseeing Log by letting them know upcoming weather patterns for each zone!
EUREKA TRACKER — For everything and anything to do with Eureka mobs, tracking and weather patterns.
FFLOGOS — for tracking of items/actions related to Eureka.
FFXIVSQUADRON — A comprehensive tool that helps you assess the success rate of various squadron missions.
FFXIV CHOCOBO COLOUR CALCULATOR — Will calculate what chocobo feed you will need to get from your current colour to your desired colour. *rng not included.
FFXIV HOUSING — A site specialising in the documentation of all housing items available in game.
HOUSING SNAP — A compilation of player-made housing designs. Can be used for inspiration or places to visit!
MISC
NPC CHAT BUBBLES — Would you like more NPC chat bubbles for edits? Say no more! Created by @alexoisxiv.
OLD TUMBLR LAYOUT BY PIXIEL — While not XIV specific I know a lot of people aren't fans of the new Tumblr layout, so this is a fix that will revert it to an as close as possible approximation of the new one. I won't tag the creator as I don't think they're in the xiv community, but it's run by @/pixiel!
HOW TO CURSE LIKE AN ISHGARDIAN — Do you want to make the church blush? Do you want to incur the wrath of Halone? @stars-and-clouds has compiled a list of appropriate curses/swear words for you!
FINAL FANTASY XIV SIDEQUEST GUIDE - HEAVENSWARD EDITION — maintained by @chatty-moogle, this guide explores interesting sidequests in Heavensward that will give you more information about the lore, titbits about locals and other interesting information!
TRUST BANNERS FOR XIV — If you have ever wondered how people mimic the Trust banners used in XIV, look no further! @locke-rinannis has a template for you.
MAKING USE OF RECOMMENDATIONS — created by @autumnslance, this guide will help you make your recommendations tab useful rather than annoying.
BOTANICA EORZEA — A guide to the flora of Eitherys and her reflections, including fungi and seedkin. For reference in writing and roleplaying. Maintained by @tinolqa.
GPOSE TIPS — A tutorial on how to achieve clarity and detail in your XIV screenshots! Created by @aryalaenkha.
UI MACRO MENUS — A guide on how to use macros to create small UI menus for XIV. Written by @diskwrite-ffxiv.
TYPHON GATE RESEARCH — Created by @mcstronghuge, these are the statistically best places for your character to stand for the Typhon Gate!
CHANGELOG
HYDAELYN HEALTH HAVEN has been removed at the request of the owner.
Moved THE BALANCE higher on the list to reflect alphabetical sorting, excluding names that start with The.
Misc formatting as needed.
Added some additional clarification around large-scale discords/spaces; in particular: Large-scale community discords such as the XIV Reddit Discord, Hunts, GPOSE promotions and broad-space roleplay servers that harbour a large number of people and are publicly available to all. These may not have an RP focus but will assist in other aspects of the game. Also includes well-known tools/resources that are utilised by large groups of people and assist in gameplay elements.
Added a quick-jump menu to the bottom of each of the table of contents menus to assist in navigation.
Want to submit? You can either fill out the google form here, send me an ask with the relevant information contained on the Compendium, or join my Discord at SEAFLOOR (21+ only)!
I am sure there's probably a couple of things I have missed or links/formatting that might be broken. Please don't hesitate to let me know if anything is out of place. I'm going to take a break now. I'm pretty sure that's the biggest edit that's ever going to occur on this document!

Zack has to make a presentation for Lazard and the executives! Does he do it alone? Does Sephiroth help? Does Sephiroth LITERALLY hold cue cards in the background while Zack fumbles to remember half the stuff he wrote down?
Dhdhdhdhd LMAOOO!! Great question, friendo!! 😂💖💖
When it comes to projects and presentations, it’s always a collaborative effort between these two, with Zack taking the creative helm while Sephiroth handles the research and logistics! The result is always the most kick-ass, spot-on, jaw-dropping Moogle Slides presentation the world has ever darn seen, complete with a tidy bibliography and stellar graphics that are enough to keep even Palmer from dozing off.
Behold:

Where Zack does stumble a bit is indeed with public speaking, wherein Sephiroth does make sure to include lots of speaker notes + a few visual cues from the table. And while these additions do assist Zack, what really calms his nerves is simply knowing Sephiroth is there, that there’s a kind face in the audience who won’t judge, won’t laugh, won’t stare down. A friendly smile that makes him feel grounded, secure, and supported, and a wonderful friend who knows he can do this.
And that’s enough <333

I see you doing BEAUTIFUL soul soothing slice of life Zack stuff.
I ask for Zack first because..I'm weird but please do feel free to include the firsts and HOJO!, BECAUSE I've never seen anyone do hojo love, it's wild!
What, would zack do for his lover having a migraine? How would he comfort/cuddle/spoil...
Cook special food? Pet names? Home remedies?
THANK YOU! LMAO I’ve been told I’m the most down bad individual people have met due to my love of Hojo. 10/10 would tie that man to the cross and do my thing with him.
I love this ask cause I’m prone to migraines. I have also tortured myself trying to make them stop. I lock myself in the closet to get away from any sounds and light these days. Good god I’m probably too eager to write Hojo’s.
____________________________________________
Zack “put em in a pack” Fair
I’m certain you have to thoroughly explain what a migraine is to him. The first time you said you had a migraine he continued doing everything at his usual “Zack Volume” fuckin loud. Shiva bless his heart but he lacks brain cells. You told him to quiet down and now he won’t stop whispering everything, that man will whisper in uppercase from the other room.
Now that he understands, he must make a routine for you. Yes yes, that man headed straight to Moogle Search to look up home remedies. It would turn into Zack’s first crime against humanity. Making you a cup of turmeric and ginger based tea, accompanied by an aftertaste so foul you weren’t sure you wanted to even ask what he put in it. As hard as you try, your face says it all and now he’s got the sad puppy eyes, “but baby I really tried.” In that cute pouty voice of his, you know the one he’s still whispering. Please let him know you appreciate the effort but not the attempt at murder.
If there is any medicine that helps relive your pain he’ll have it on hand. He even keeps a supply at his own home, going as far as to carry it around when you’re together because Zack knows they randomly sprout up. He’s learned “the squint” as he calls it. Claiming whenever a migraine is creeping in you start squinting at everything. Awn, cute boy is catching on to the cues. After you tell him about visual impairment/eye pain that can accompany your migraines he’s back on the internet finding ways to relive that too. (Pls Zack it’s not gonna help just cuddle)
After months of trying numerous concoctions Zack would attempt to make you once again, Shiva bless his heart. Despite you telling him in advance, he finally concludes these do not help and he can't really do much about it, it made him feel a bit useless. “ ‘cause if I can’t help my baby, what am I doing?” Telling Zack that everything else he does is perfect when he’s trying to make you feel better. He provides you lots of cuddles, only leaving the bed when he’s certain you’re asleep, though it’s only for necessities. Zack very much prefers to keep you against him as long as humanly possible. You’re his "little kitty", you know the rules with that. If the cat lays on you, you do not move.
Makes sure to turn off any lights, closing all of the curtains/blinds to keep as much light out as possible. Cooking is questionable with him but he can make some of your favorite snacks as long as they’re simple. Anything that he can get you from the store? He’s going to make sure it’s in your possession, even if he has to go completely out of his way to get whatever you want. Nearly every time Zack goes out to get snacks/favorite foods, he brings back a plushie. You have such a large army of plushies that you have to beg him to stop bringing them. Gaia, he even brought you a chibi Zack for when he’s on missions. (You love it, how could you not)
Zack also recognizes sometimes migraines make you nauseous, even causing you to vomit at times. No matter, it doesn’t bother him at all. He’s going to make sure your hair is out of the way, clean you back up, carry you to bed and as you sleep, he’s looking at more home remedies. One thing I can imagine him able to cook is a few types of soups Angeal taught him, to at least get something light on your stomach.
Sephiroth- pillow fort part 2? (he wasn’t allowed much time to be a kid, so he enjoys doing childish activities with you)
This is the man for the job, can’t get your surroundings dark enough? Sephiroth shall begin the construction. He now realizes why you have a million pillows, even taking the pillows and cushions off of your couch to make it more comfortable. Layering blankets and sheets to ensure it’s completely dark in there. He’s ready for his cat house to cuddle you. Stays awake until you fall asleep, it's not really anything new, he's just significantly more adamant about it when you aren't feeling well. Seems a bit sad when you take his fort down due to his "hard work and dedication." It's okay, he knows it can't stay up forever, he'll be able to build another soon.
You’re already overly spoiled by Sephiroth, to which he’d say “there’s never a such thing as too much for you.” He's going to try and find you the best doctors around, not affiliated with Shinra of course. He doesn't want them coming anywhere near you. He knows medicine won't always help, but you know what does? His dick. His outstanding ability to take care of you. Forehead kisses for days. Will scoop you in his lap, holding you until you start dozing off. I don't think this one can cook either, but he'll attempt making your favorite comfort foods until he cooks it exactly to your liking. "nothing less than perfection for you".
He'll go out of his way to buy blackout curtains for his own home. Luckily Sephiroth is extremely quiet, half of the time you don't even know when he arrives. It's like he materializes out of thin air. Due to this you don't have to really ever worry about loud sounds. Finding his voice to be soothing you ask him to read to you until you fall asleep. He's a bit awkward about it at first, but he gets use to it and comes to love doing so.
Angeal (the healer)
Oh yea, you're getting super spoiled by this one. He's putting on his "best chef" apron and getting to work. Not before he tucks you into bed, kissing your forehead and tucking you in, he'll even fluff the pillows. If you like having background sound or really are in the mood to watch something, he has memorized shows/movies that have a minimal amount of ungodly bright scenes. Even turns the brightness down all the way, going as far to adjust the color and of course lowering the volume.
Always asks what kind of food you think your stomach can handle just in case it's one of those nausea inducing migraines. Can make anything you ask or he'll find recipes that are supposed to accommodate your migraines. He's not sure if the home remedies work, but at least you're always happy with each meal he makes you.
Once you're fed and comfortable, Angeal is on his way to wrap you up in his arms. Loves it when you climb on him and rest your head against his chest because you told him his "heartbeat makes me feel better." He's read in an article that pressure points can help alleviate migraines. He has no clue which pressure points to target so he's going to give you a full body massage in hopes that you feel better. hands of god you'll be feeling something alright
Also goes out of his way to buy blackout curtains or anything that may help him keep his home dark when the light is too much. Buys those little motion lights that are dim so when you walk into a room you'll be able to see without it feeling like a flashbang. Angeal doesn't make too much noise either so sound is also not a problem with him. Despite that he gives you a hushed apology any time he thinks he did something too loud.
Genesis (please don't recite Loveless, jk he'd annoy me but i'd love it)
Recites Loveless to you in a hushed tone as you fall asleep on his chest. Genesis is more than willing to read any piece of literature you want, only if you make a special request. He's always going to pull out Loveless by default.
Runs a bath for you, adding a eucalyptus based epsom salt and bubbles to help you relax in hopes to ease some of that tension.(something with a soft scent as strong smells can be too much). "Of course he's aware of your sensitivity to light, in turn lighting a couple of candles to add his romantic flare. He's taking these baths with you, without a doubt. Massaging your back and gently doing the same for your neck. He has an experts touch, that man will make you melt like butter. Loves soaking with you pressed against him, dries you off and tucks you into bed.
This one is also a cook, maybe not as good as Angeal, but definitely not as bad as Sephiroth. Knows your favorite comfort foods and will go out of his way to make it for you as you hide in bed.
Manages to find the best medicine. You're surprised it actually helps. After asking where Genesis got it from you find out he broke into Hojo's lab after a discussion between the two about what was the best treatment for a migraine. Says he stole them because he didn't want the medicine altered as most of his medicines are.
Hojo (my eyes are so far back in my head right now, im excited)
The first time you stumbled into his lab, all but screaming at him to cut of the lights he just stares at you like a madman. "Do you not seeing me working?" I mean, sure you did, once your eyes finally adjust you can see something or someone(????) cut open on a surgical table. Great, migraine increases tenfold.
When he finally finished whatever absurd thing he was doing to that poor carcass he comes to examine you. Maybe you should have gone home instead. Shining that goofy fuckin flashlight directly in your eyes. You tried slapping it out of his hands to which he rolls his eyes as you completely miss his hand stating that "it's a pupil test, I have to check for abnormalities." to which you can't help but tell Hojo that he is the only abnormality.
Injects you with god knows what, but hey, the migraine surprisingly vanished. The next time you come into his lab due to a migraine, he immediately takes into account that you were just here a few days ago over the same thing. Once again taking you back through those oh so annoying examinations before prescribing you some pills. When you question what the pills were he chuckles, telling you in a condescending tone that "you wouldn't remember how to say it even if you tried." With that he tells you to come back after all pills are gone so he can see how you're doing.
Your next visit with Hojo will teach you to never tell him something is wrong with you again. When you began taking the medicine the migraines were easing up, but now it's like they're worse. This time he gives you a different type of medicine, now you're just sleepy. All will be just fine, when you wake up you won't even know he's been poking around your brain.
****************************************************
I’m a bit sad I forgot to put in the random bouts of pure confusion migraines can put you through. I’ll never forget grabbing my airpods and I was pretty certain it was a bar of soap. It wasn’t. I don’t even know how I thought something that small was soap, or how I tried to wash my hands for so long with them

You know, I kind of hate the chocobo chicks in FFVII Rebirth. Like that is not what a chick looks like. That's like if birds had mammalian development. They don't. A chocobo chick shouldn't look like a bobble-headed, big-eyed little chocobo. It should look like an unfledged, naked little monster with a huge beak and breastbone and feet, and not much else to its name. Or, if they do develop more like ostriches or emus or any of that sort of large ground-nesting bird, which is reasonable to assume is possible, they still shouldn't look like a whole other goddamn species.

Like, that's cute. They don't look horrifying or anything. They just look like little fluffy adults with babie legs and necks.

This however can die in a goddamn fire. That's not a chocobo. It's a blasphemy with a bad case of human infant skull. (Also why do they have plant butts? I don't think this is even explained?)
Like I'm loving watching my partner go through this game but there are some visual decisions that I'm like, who did this. Turn on your location. I just want to talk.
ALSO whoever decided that chocobos should sound like someone doing a bad peacock impersonation, please. Eat a fork sideways. They have gotten more and more annoying to listen to in every game where they're voiced and I hate it. Can we go back to their cute little 'prreep?' noise in FFVI or the couple of nice sounds they made in original FFVII? Those were fine. Whatever is happening now makes my ears want to perish.
I do really like that different colors have different general plumage, that's cool. I used to draw them that way, waaaaay back in high school. But the chocobo chicks are almost as bad as the toddler/koala hybrid moogles with human teeth but in a squirrel configuration...like I know they eat kupo nuts but that's just terrifying to actually see.
#I get really mad at inaccurate biology in games that are otherwise trying to be semi-realistic#it just makes the Wrong stand out even more#ffvii rebirth

Oohh, I got a question for you! Do you have a favorite god/primal and do your OCs?
*!!!!* OOUUUHUHUHU I have a favorite of the Twelve yes yes yes~ my personal fave is Byregot. He’s. He’s big 🫢💦 and of the Primals…… it’s Ravanna! The music slaps, and he just wants a thrill in combat. Can’t fault a guy for that. (Runner ups are Ramuh / Bismarck)
Chuu would gun down the Twelve for a single cornchip. No favorites. Puts Alexander down as a Solid ‘Would’ in any kinda questionnaire. (That thing’s a primal right?)
Tuesday‘s fave primal in theory would be …. Mmh…. Garuda? (Both the XV crossover and the XIV version) but I say in theory because I’m not sure he ever encounters them- I just think he’d like them xD. Fave of the Twelve would be Halone… definitely no biases… It’s a very inspiring statue in Ishgard ok,
Ishi’s favorite primal is probs… ah, the four lords aren’t primals… I would say Byakko otherwise xD they’re all pretty harrowing fights in game I think- I could safely rank Shinryu as their least favorite. I think Ramuh would take top slot- Ramuh was only concerned with protecting the Sylph’s and wasn’t about to take down the entire twelveswood unless he felt threatened. Pretty reasonable (or, able to be reasoned with) (visually, though… in a vacuum? Or if XIV was a game he was playing? Uhm, he’s making kissy noises and acting embarrassing abt Raktapaksa (Garuda-Ifrit combination from Eden) ….. their favorite of the twelve is a tie between Menphina and Nymeia
Mochiie‘s favorite primal is… hm…. If you stripped it to the bare bones I think he’d find Susano the most interesting… there’s also Phoenix? He’s firmly of the mind the only good Primal is one dispersed but like, Shiva gets a pass? So. Wait- no yeah Shiva is his favorite because he gets to know/(knew) her :T Finds a strange kinship with Azeyma of the twelve. Don’t think too much about it.
Tangy’s favorite primal is Good King Moggle Mog XII it’s hard to resist a song and dance (since I imagine the song during that fight is actually sung/performed out loud by the moogles during the fight xD) Her favorite of the Twelve is Rhalgr…
… das all my juice uvu there’s so many good primals……. Like ODIN….. fuckin- it’s a sword! It’s a sword that makes you fucked up and evil! That’s so hot
#2sday answers#Ffxiv Chuu#ffxiv Tuesday#ffxiv Ishi’li#ffxiv Mochiie#ffxiv tangy#Chuu’s hear-me-outs are like. Engels. and Alexander. and. Maggie.#Ishi just thinks it’s so hot that someone’s arm can turn into a tiger and also choke slam you with it.#who said that?#also don’t get me wrong uh. Eden leviathan? fuckin cool as hell.#ALSO THE QUEEN. OOOOOHHH……

FFXIVWRITES 2024 - DAY 5 - STAMP Complete ---- 1,777 words ---- Notes: The instant I saw the prompt I knew I could do nothing but this.
“The Postmoogle’s PostPals Initiative’s aim is to unite young people across the world through the act of writing letters to each other!” Angeline Carax declared, pride shining in her voice. “Yes…” came the more uncertain reply, from one G’raha the Tia. “With the help and organization of the Postmoogles, letter exchanges between pals can reach across not only continents, but even onto other shards!” “You’ve said….” “We’ll provide all the materials, writing implements, composition books - the pilot program connecting Idyllshire and Ishgard has gone SO well we’re ready to proceed with expanding all across Hydaelyn.” “You know I couldn’t be happier to hear that,” G’raha said, his delivery less than convincing, “but… my love, I have to ask. Why am I going to be the one on the stamp?”
If his voice held somewhat more of a plaintive cry than usual, it was because he found himself up on a small raised platform in Tataru’s atelier in rather different clothes than usual for a rather different purpose. “Not just stamps,” Tataru said from her perch at her table. Her hands hadn’t stopped for the past hour they had been in here, shuffling papers and clacking around on an abacus and, from time to time, juggling a handful of lalafell-palm-sized balls with an intense frown on her face before putting them down at once and attacking something else. “There’s mailers, posters, some initiative flyers, ideally we can pass them around - “ Angeline rounded on Tataru, waving her hands to try to get her to stop, but G’raha’s tail was already going, whipping back and forth intermittently, though his placating smile grew only a touch more forced. Tataru studiously kept her head down and hummed cheerfully to herself beneath Angeline’s glare.
Angeline stepped up onto the viewing platform and took G’raha’s hands in both of hers, even as he kept talking under his voice, just to her, “Don’t get me wrong, I was so happy you asked, I just - well I certainly can’t be the right person for the job. My days of being any kind of - of figurehead, visual or otherwise, are long behind me - “
Angeline rocked forward on the balls of her feet and dropped a kiss on the corner of his mouth - he stopped short, which was the point. His eyes widened, flicked to Tataru (not paying attention), then closed when they met again for a slower kiss. “Everyone is going to be wondering why it isn’t you,” G’raha murmured when they parted, just barely. “I’m wondering why it isn’t you. It’s your project!” “It is my project. Why would I want to stare at myself over and over again?” Angeline replied, stepping forward to slide her hands along his flank, to settle them on his hips. “I’m setting this up exactly how I want it. Is that bad?” A crimson cast had settled onto his face, making him enter into competition with his hair. He shook his head quickly and flushed even harder when she smiled at him, full sun. Angeline reached up to readjust the navy cap he wore, sending the brilliant pink glowing moogle heart bouncing above his head. “Then I have a Postmoogle General to capture,” she said, and tugged him forward in her wake, again and for always.
🎐🎐🎐
The bridge that she had picked - one of the many that crisscrossed and linked the rocks, shoals and docks that made up Limsa Lominsa - reflected the sun white hot off the stone, and the sky was crisp and blue, lightly clouded. G’raha Tia was doing his best School Picture Day imitation, his arms held awkwardly akimbo at his sides, stock in the center of the bridge. “Has the boy forgotten what standing is like?” the hired roegaedyn pictomancer muttered to herself, rubbing the back of her wide neck as the white plain of her canvas radiated to beat the stones.
Angeline clapped her hands and then megaphoned them around her mouth to call to him. “Okay! Now let’s relax….! Great! Give me relaxed!” G’raha shifted in indecision, casting his gaze back and forth as if to catch some kind of inspiration, and then stiffly put his hands on his hips and puffed his chest out. “No - not quite - !” Surprised and chagrined his first attempt didn’t cut it, his hands flitted but never settled on adjusting his cap, plucking at his little necktie, gripping the bright red mailbag at his side. “We’re aiming for relaxed - !” He crossed his arms and wrenched his torso to the side, mimicking Estinien’s coolness in his mind but coming off rather more like in the throes of despair. “Relaxed - “ G’raha stared out to her mournfully, his eyes the saddest and wettest rubies that were nevertheless trying their absolute utmost. Angeline exchanged glances with the pictomancer, who with a sigh sank onto a little folded stool and settled herself in for a long day of hurrying up and waiting. Angeline set her expression into the most double plus sparkling warm supportive one but as she turned to approach her erstwhile stranded star -
The rapid padding of feet gave them a second of warning before a little body barreled into G’raha, hitting him in the small of the back and making him yelp and stumble. There was a crash and a hiss and flutter of heavy packets scattering and loose pages escaping free, and even as G’raha twisted to try to catch the young girl that knocked into him, she was Intent on using him as a springboard to lunge for her spilled belongings, a stream of expletives and complaints and invectives spiraling from without cease. By the time G’raha caught and steadied himself on the bridge’s railing, the floating pages, about seven in all, had long slipped the reach of everything but the girl’s rising wail.
A switch flipped - G’raha lifted his hands, stepped forward, and began to cast, practiced and sure. The smallest expanse contracted and in an instant-length eon, he spread his hands and with certainty the pages were neatly stacked in them, matched by a relieved smile. The girl whipped around from her position wrapped around the opposite rail so fast it sent her short braids smacking directly into her face. She shook her head roughly and when she looked again her furious expression was coated in tears - not of relief, she insisted for the record. Braid got in her eye.
Angeline wrapped her arms around herself as she watched, twisting back and forth to her own rhythm in private personal joy. There he was, that thing that could never go away, not in a hundred years or a million. One that he couldn’t even to the best of his ability hide, stamped in deep on his heart and filled with gold. That thing that she would always long to see… Lurching in from the side of (or perhaps springing from) those sentimental thoughts was a notion that made her unpeel one arm from herself, send her hand vaguely questing for the pictomancer’s shoulder.
G’raha Tia had by this point helped the girl (a shipyard’s solicitor’s assistant, as it turned out) re-gather the rather prodigious amount of bundled paperwork and notes, and to secure them more surely with package twine he handily pulled from his mailbag. It was only until his fussing began to risk demolishing her newfound goodwill did he let her go and watch her run off, wishing her luck softly and sweetly. By this point Angeline’s groping hand had long since found its mark, grabbing the pictomancer’s shoulder and slapping at it lightly but with increasing intensity until she looked up from her tomephone - but at once she caught what Angeline had. Paint hit the canvas the instant the girl trotted by them, shooting them odd looks that grew even odder when she registered what Angeline kept saying, her voice so bright and ringing Limsa’s corridors picked it up and threw it ahead of the girl on her way home - “Tell me you got that! TELL me you got that! Tell me you got that…!!”
🎐🎐🎐
G’raha, if it were up to him, would have been perfectly happy to put the whole scenario out of his mind and just enjoy getting the opportunity to have something definedly low-stakes to do every once in a while (Aymeric had spoken energetically and profusely about how much adding personally scheduled stints as the Azure Elephant helped him). Angeline wasn’t having it.
“If it were something else, maybe, but I want you to see this one.” She scooped her arms under his to hug him to her, back to her chest, then turned him and walked him forward, kicking his legs with hers. He sunk against her and groaned, taking the opportunity to press his face onto the base of her jaw, an enforced blindness suffused with her scent. He didn’t wanna.
“Omg. Calm down,” Angeline teased, coming to a stop and settling in. She caught both his wrists in one hand and settled his hips back onto hers, bundling him tight. She had a hand free to tilt his head back down but he took a deep breath of her in, sighed, and spared her the effort. Then he opened his eyes and took himself in.
The Postmoogle General stood enveloped in whirling letters emerging out of Limsa’s seagulls and clouds, bright sky and cobbles, as sturdy a pillar in the maelstrom as the quintessential Lominsan lamppost that anchored one end of the bridge. His fine navy coat had long beribboned tails to match the bow in his own, his chest crisscrossed with gold straps and medals, and crowned above all with the Postmoogle Bag in ardent red. A girl - the girl - disappears off the edge of the painting, in the flow of and leading the swirl of letters through Limsa and wherever they may be going. Wherever it may be, wherever her words and those of her fellows, they would be watched over and safeguarded, his hand still gently outstretched from having helped send her off.
The star of hope in his eye, that lit his face, that burned in him, warmth and illumination set inside a crystal case - “That’s the Initiative,” Angeline said, resting her cheek on his head and twisting and swaying with him. “That's what I always want to see, anyway.” G’raha was quiet for a long time, long enough for her to twist him a little further on one sway so she could peek at his face. It just sent him burrowing deeper into his scarf, red on red again. “I don’t think I look the best in navy, but it’s a wonderful composition,” was the model’s final comment on the piece.

Rambling About Magic the Gathering X Final Fantasy - Final Fantasy XIV (Part 1)
Oh boy. Square's OTHER golden child. I do love XIV, don't get me wrong; but its... all consuming nature, is bothering me as of late. ESPECIALLY here. I'm gonna enjoy these cards, but I will also be upset at these cards. Sorry in advance. (also XIV is the last of the 4 games to get a Commander deck, it's a highlight for sure.)
Cloudbound Moogle

Kupo. This is definitely a moogle, toe to tip. I do like seeing the pom in the back, and the Churning Mists background is cool.
Delivery Moogle

Another Moogle, but a lot more interesting! He goes through your mail to bring you a fun item! I do really like this card, and the art has those letters flying behind, giving him a great illusion of movement.
Dragoon's Lance

I'm gonna go ahead and get this complaint out of the way now. The fact that other than I, XIV ate ALL the job switch equipment, and didn't give ANY to III, V, or XI, is horrible. Now that my great anger is out of the way, let's stick with an actual card review. Art is cool, love how the dragoon has the blood of the dragon effect around it, and flying for jumping.
G'raha Tia

I love G'raha, but I don't know if his stupid young version needed a card on top of the modern version in the Commander deck. Good art, though.
Machinist's Arsenal

This art is pretty incredible, it's like an action movie poster. I'm a big fan of the hero and the Queen looking in different directions, and the auto-crossbow looks sick as fuck.
Paladin's Arms

I'm really glad they used the Endwalker armor in this one, it's the best Paladin set in the game. Plus, Passage of Arms is SUCH a cool pose.
Summon: Primal Garuda

Out of anyone, Garuda absolutely is the summon to use from XIV (or XI but I'll give this one a pass cause this one has far more character). I love that alt art, the greens and whites are very visually appealing. It also feels like the Garuda you summon as a Summoner, since it enters with Aerial Blast, and creates a little Slipstream to stand in.
Ultima

When this card was revealed, I wanted to be mad at a series wide card being put in XIV. Could have been II, the game that made it. But. I get it. The art is amazing on both of these, AND we get the funny Gaius quote. I can't be mad at that. Though, the fact that it ends the turn means you can't do some VII nonsense and cast it four times, terrible card.
Venat, Heart of Hydaelyn/Hydaelyn, the Mothercrystal

I have never seen a card where I feel completely opposite about the art. I do not like the base art, it just feels like an in game screenshot (which could also be a compliment), but I LOVE that alt art, mainly of Venat. That stylization, it reminds me of the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks cutscene style. Her effect is also perfect, where Venat exiles Zodiark, then blesses a Warrior of Light. This card is amazing.
White Auracite

I really love this art, I wanted more of this from the set. Look how realistic Minfilia looks. This is also one of those cards that gives a character an appearance without making them a person, and I think ARR Minfilia is great for that. It would suck if she didn't appear at all. Of course, it traps somebody in it, which is awesome.
Astrologian's Planisphere

I love that third card effect. Putting card games in card games always leads to some fun ideas, and this is no different.
Il Mheg Pixie

Another case of "really great art, this is a generic mook for filling out armies, could have gone to a different game". I do really like this art though. You could have removed the FFXIV from the bottom and I'd believe that this is a normal Magic card.
Louisoix's Sacrifice

I love this card, but the MAIN "critique" I will give it is that it isn't the image of Louisoix smiling as he gets Smash Bros World of Lighted. That's not even a critique, this art is great I just want the funny. I do like how the sacrifice has to be a legendary. You better be saving this card for something BIG if you're gonna kill your grandpa for it.
Matoya, Archon Elder

I am very mad at this card. This card is like, one of the examples of XIV gluttony. Instead of acknowledging the original Matoya, who could have also used the same effect, and would have given a game that doesn't have a lot of characters one of its few characters, you used the version in the game with everything.
Rook Turret

This is like, the XIV version of VII's Valkyrie unit. Why? I just don't understand why it's here. It's gotta be gameplay.
Sage's Nouliths

I think untapping a target creature on attack is such a cool way of adapting Sage's "healing by attacking" gimmick. A part of me thinks that the Sage should have been the III Sage, since that's one of the two busted jobs, but I'll forgive it since the gameplay factor is so cool and unique.
Sahagin

fishy. Sahagins could have been in any game, but I do think XIV has the coolest design, so this is another pass on my divine anger. I love this art, how you can see the western half of western La Noscea, with the Sahagin land in the back. I don't really get the effect? Maybe like, cast water at the enemy? Which makes their attack stronger.
Sidequest: Card Collection/Magicked Card

This is really funny. At first I was like "why did XIV get the triple triad sidequest", but it's not really that. It's to represent an MMO grind for a mount. It's not worth it at all, but you get A Mount!!!! It could have really been anything else, as long as it gives that mount, that's all they needed. And like I said earlier, card games in card games leads to cool effects.
Y'shtola Rhul

I like this Y'shtola a lot more than her Commander card. She's CLEARLY doing Flow here, which is the most Y'shtola thing possible. I also like how her original ARR gear is being used (yeah there's the alt art, but I'm not really partial to it).
Circle of Power

I thought we left the black mages cards behind in IX, but they're back with a vengeance with Ley Lines, but this time, instead of just one, EVERYONE gets to join in in the stand in place fun. I do like this card, and I think out of any ability to turn into a simple spell, Ley Lines is the one for sure.
Dark Confidant

A reprint from Magic's past, that comes in the form of really really good art, both main and alt. Not really representing any Ascian in particular, just a generic one. But I do think this was a good card to texture as an Ascian.
Dark Knight's Greatsword

Black mana and Dark Knights just work together so well, I swear. I like how it's a lot more offensive than Paladins, but with a lack of toughness increase, it just helps my argument that this should have been a previous game's incarnation. ZEID COULD HAVE BEEN HERE. The art is cool though, and a Hrothgar gets to show up.
So many cards, part 2 here.

Viri vs. the Phantom Train is without a doubt my favorite fight in the entire game, closely followed by Good King Moogle. I wish they'd make more fights like this. Visually interesting, intricately designed, way more fun than "just dodge the AOEs coming a million miles an hour."
I've been able to solo most but not all of Omega since level 90, and level 100 tipped Viri to be able to do the last two sections. Viri's solo reaper run at level 100 for Sigmascape 1.0, the ghost train: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8knvTLmgMqM

FFxivWrite '24 - 5
"You really drew all these yourself, kupo?"
Beef nodded. The top of his head barely peeked above the sketchbook he held up for Kupopo's perusal.
"Well, your landscapes are pretty good, and the flowers are even better - they should make for some powerful pictomancy!" the moogle exclaimed, wings fluttering and pom bouncing. "We could go over elemental pigments... but the basics are boring, kupo. Why don't we see how you fare with some other subjects, instead?"
The two relocated to their local striking dummy in order to practice a few tricks of the pictomancer's trade.
"You know kupo, I only had the one job crystal to give away anyway, so if you think about it, it's actually a bit of a blessing that you were the only adventurer interested in being my student."
Beef's only response was to stare at the moogle in silence.
"I can see you're eager to learn, so let's get started, kupo. How about we try weapons?"
After a few minutes of watching Beef stare at his beginner's palette, Kupopo thought it best to offer some more guidance. "It doesn't have to be perfect, kupo, just come up with something you can pound a few poms with."
The suggestion seemed to help somehow, as Beef snapped his fingers and began to paint, stroke by stroke. Once it had taken shape, he raised the finished piece aloft - a feat that would never have been possible were it truly a weapon forged in iron.
"A hammer, kupo? Kind of silly at that size, don't you think?"
"Dwarven decking."
"I have no idea what that means, kupo." Kupopo shrugged. "But I guess it's true what they say: when you have a kupo nut, all of your tools start to look like hammers, kupo!"
Beef didn't think he had heard that one before.
"How about we switch tactics, kupo? You could really fill any role on the battlefield, if you think about it. A pictomancer is only limited by their imagination, after all! You could draft up a shield, or even cure pain with... paint, kupo!"
Beef's face scrunched up in response. "Messy."
"Look, that's up to you and how you imagine it, kupo."
For a while Beef tried to conceptualize a depiction of healing, but the line that distinguished between these two uses of magic lay somewhere outside of his grasp. To his untrained eye, it was all just magic.
"Well, you passed the job interview, so I'm sure you've got imagination to spare, kupo." said the moogle. "If you can't visualize how casting a healing spell would look, why don't you try sketching a healer that will do it for you?"
Beef looked to Kupopo, then his brush, and then back again. After another dose of erratic encouragement from his moogle mentor, he gave his best attempt at painting L'kozu.
The resulting evocation defied all description.
"THE HAMMER, KUPO! GET THE HAMMER!"
In a panic, Beef hurriedly sketched up another hammer and scrambled to grip its handle.
"STAMP IT OUT QUICK, KUPO!!"
In a whirlwind of color and magic, he rapidly and repeatedly pounded the dissatisfactory piece until it was rendered across the V&C garden as little more than a painterly pulp.
After a few moments for the two to catch their breath, Kupopo fluttered past Gale to speak a little too close into Beef's face. "I changed my mind, kupo. Maybe we should work through the basics after all... then we'll consider building toward a living muse."

Redesigning the mechanics of FFIX
Final Fantasy 9 is a return to form for SquareEnix. Leaving behind all the sci-fi additions and returning to an era of SteamPunk. This is before SteamPunk was a standalone concept. So it's not so heavy handed.
Noting the flaws they had with the Materia system in FF7, and not wanting every character to be caster; equipment now has levels that allow you to learn abilities from them.
Each piece of equipment having unique abilities for characters to learn.
Each of the main characters has a concept that closely aligns with a classical class concept; Zidane is a thief, Garnet a White Mage, Steiner a Knight, Vivi a black mage, Eiko a Summoner, Freya the dragoon, Quina the Blue Mage, and Amaranth a Monk.
This gets muddy when Vivi and Steiner form Team Dark Knight, giving Steiner the ability to en-element his attacks with Vivi's black magic at the cost of his own MP, and Garnet actually being a much stronger summoner than Eiko despite being the White Mage.
I think that this "Team-up" mechanic that Steiner and Vivi showcase early on, and subsequently forgotten should have had a more central role in this game's mechanics.
This would allow combo and team attacks that are very flavorful and visually interesting. It would also make the Alexander summoning seem more interesting because despite Garnet and Eiko teaming up to summon him the first time, Garnet just Solo summons him afterwards.
Combining Amaranth and Zidane to create a long range attack (throw back to Mario RPG with Bowser/Mario) would also have been an interesting way to use Amaranth's throw skill (which is limited to tossing coins at your Witcher, and junk items you were gonna sell anyway.)
FF9 is also the game that introduces the "Trance" ability. Unlike the previous iterations by having a set time period where your characters attack power is upgraded and your main character abilities temporarily upgrade.
I say "Introduced" because it's not the first time we've seen something like this, but it's the first time it's mechanically significant. An earlier version was given to [Ryder/Rydia/Lidia?] after living with moogles for a bit.
*I'm not gonna Google her name.*
And Trance an ability that one of the main antagonists figures out how to use perpetually. With the party having to fight him while he's doing so.
OThere's also Auctions, the return of the Chocobo Forest (with hot and cold mini-game,) several sprawling kingdoms to explore, the Library of Alexandria having been spirited away by Leviathan and who makes the books all soggy, and ultimately facing off against Garland and the original 4 fiends of the original game before flying off to the red moon. (Planet 9, possibly cocoon)
I'm stopping to consider the equipment/ability linkage added in order to increase the difficulty for speed runners (and the subsequently addition of Excalibur2 specifically as a reward for to speed runners)
In retrospect it's a neat little ability used to replace the Materia system we saw in FF7, as this game seems to predate man-made materia, while still having a proto-materia included with certain items.
And these "Decorations" seem to be what gives the characters their extra abilities. Basically, still referencing the slot system, while taking it away as a core mechanic.
In hindsight it limits the user to wear equipment for a certain duration while simultaneously forcing them to grind if they wish to keep the ability.
Seeing as the latest FF games have started going away from the old paradigm of grind, and feeling more *Milestone* unless you're a try hard player, this system *probably* should be updated. But to what? I'm unsure.
Maybe it should just be a list of equipment and you can equip any of a handful at a time as long as you have the AP to do so? Then you can both limit the amount per player team AND avoid needing to grind it out.
Regardless; I just really like the *team* mechanic and wish it was expanded more.

Prompt 1: Gift exchange, peaceful, decorate
Cast: Reno, Rude, Raine(Turks OC), Elena, and a small cameo of Tseng at the end, mention of Alexander(the summon of Light)
Setting: Midgar, Turks HQ, Turks Lounge, Sector 3(in this AU that includes my OC, S3 exists as the place where most of the Turks have homes, excluding Tseng who lives in the Shinra Building).
Time: Unnamed day in Winter, close to Life Day(or our Christmas/whatever winter holiday you celebrate)

perfect imperfections:
Once more, winter had crept upon the city of Migdar with its chilly winds and frosty snow. However, the festive spirit was in full swing, and the city was bustling with life and joy. The streets were adorned with colorful lights and decorations, while the air was filled with the sweet aroma of hot cocoa and freshly baked cookies.
Children of all ages ran around in the snow, building snowmen, having snowball fights, and delighting in the magic of the season. Adults worked tirelessly, hoping to earn a day or two off to spend with their loved ones, while couples brimming with affection for each other eagerly awaited the perfect moment to steal a kiss or a tender gesture. Everywhere one would look, there was an atmosphere of warmth, love, and happiness, making the city of Migdar truly magical during this special time of year.
Amidst the towering facade of Shinra HQ, where every inch of the building is polished to a gleaming shine, lies a cozy haven known as the Turks Lounge. The sound of merriment fills my ears, and my eyes are immediately drawn to the festive decorations that adorn every nook and cranny of the space. The walls are bedecked with ribbons of crimson and emerald, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of evergreens.
The holiday season was on the horizon, and with it came a wave of festive decorations that transform homes and businesses alike into a winter wonderland. Among these decorations are the beloved holiday moogles - little white creatures that resemble flying cats - of all shapes and sizes. The adorable creatures can be found perched on shelves and windowsills, their cheery expressions bringing smiles to the faces of all who enter.
And then there are the Life Day trees - tall, majestic, and spruced up in an array of twinkling bulbs that cast a warm and inviting glow over the entire room. The trees are adorned with ornaments of all kinds, from classic glass baubles to handmade crafts. The scent of pine fills the air, and the sound of carols can be heard in the background, lending to the overall festive atmosphere.
The scene was truly a sight to behold, a testament to the joy and camaraderie that the Turks share in this special time of year. The holiday season brings people together, and the decorations serve as a visual reminder of the love and connection we share during this magical time.
The group of Turks were decorating and having a conversation.
Raine, a breathtaking young woman with sparkling emerald eyes and a fit physique, exclaimed with excitement, "This is perfect for the season! The weather, the atmosphere, everything is just flawless! We couldn't have asked for anything better!"
Elena, a young woman with long blonde hair cascading down her back and deep brown eyes that sparkled with amusement, let out a joyous giggle and nodded her head in agreement. "I couldn't agree more," she said. "It's nice to have a break from the constant chaos and turmoil that we're all too used to dealing with throughout the rest of the year."
Reno, a fiery redhead with blue eyes, sat atop Rude, a bald man wearing a suit and sunglasses with hazel eyes.
Reno declared, "I wish every day could be Life Day so I could give you guys gifts all the time!" He winked at Raine as he said this.
Raine and Elena laughed, and Rude joined in with a snicker.
Raine shook her head in amusement and replied, "Reno, you don't have to wait for Life Day to give us gifts. You can give them to us anytime you want."
“I know that, I just find it super special to do it around the holidays! It is the season of giving after all!” He waved around a hot glue gun, risking burning poor Rude’s bald head while conveying his point.
Elena chuckled heartily in response to something that was said, "Well, he does have a point." Suddenly, she noticed something alarming and quickly pointed in Rude's direction, "But, uh, Reno you may wanna watch out," she cautioned. Elena's eyes were locked on a glob of hot glue that was perilously close to touching Rude's bare head.
Reno looked down at where she was pointing and did the total opposite of what he should've done. Not only did Rude immediately get singed but Reno grabbed it and burned himself as well, causing Rude to send them both to the ground.
Rude winced and brought his hand to his head, letting out a pained cry. "Ow, Reno!" he exclaimed, his brows furrowed in discomfort.
Reno winced in sympathy, his gaze flickering over to the angry red burn on Rude's head. "I'm so sorry, buddy," he murmured, his voice laced with concern.
As soon as they heard the commotion, Raine and Elena swiftly abandoned their ongoing decorating and rushed to assist the boys without any delay.
As soon as the commotion died down, Raine was quick to act. She knelt between Reno and Rude, checking on their injuries. "Are you guys okay?!" she asked with concern, her voice filled with worry.
Reno seemed to have hurt his hand, but Rude's wound was more severe. Raine immediately directed Elena to tend to Reno while she took charge of Rude's care. She assessed his head injury carefully, making sure to apply the proper amount of healing magic.
Reno complained, grimacing in pain, "It stings a bit, but we're fine."
Elena laughed and playfully hit him on the arm, "Oh no, Reno, you're not getting away with this one. You just got burned! Let me take care of that."
She pulled out her trusty first aid kit and began to tend to his burn, making sure to clean and treat it properly to prevent infection. Despite Reno's protests, Elena was determined to make sure he was okay and wouldn't suffer any long-term damage from the burn.
Rude's expression contorted into a frown as he uttered, "It hurts far more than I had anticipated."
Raine gazed at Rude's head wound with a look of concern, “Well, you were burned by a lot of hot glue but nothing I can't heal.”
She knew it was a serious burn caused by the hot glue, but she was determined to heal it. With a wave of her hand, she summoned her healing magic and began to mend the wound. After a few moments, she applied some burn ointment to the affected area and gently wrapped a bandage around it.
Raine's smile was a sign of relief as she saw the wound slowly start to heal. “There we go, all better," she said softly. “Just keep the bandage on for a couple of days and you should be okay again soon. Plus with the holidays about, you'll have plenty of time to relax.”
Rude flashed a smile at Raine, as he reached for another pair of sunglasses from his suit jacket. The array of identical shades gleamed in the light, neatly arranged and waiting to be chosen.
With a practiced hand, he swapped out the cracked lenses of the old pair that had failed him during his last tumble. "Thank you, Raine. Appreciate it," he murmured, his voice low and smooth.
After thanking Rude for his assistance, she turned towards Elena, who finished treating the burns on Reno's skin. With a friendly smile, "How are you feeling?" Raine's eyes were filled with compassion as she looked at Reno.
Reno's complexion contorted into a slight grimace as he shrugged his shoulders, but he managed to flash a reassuring smile. "It stings a little," he admitted, "But I've dealt with worse before. I can handle it.”
“Alright, if you're sure…," Raine spoke, “Elena and I can take care of these remaining tasks, and once we're done, we can all hang out together. It'll be a fun time with all four of us.”
Elena's face lit up with excitement as she eagerly nodded in agreement, "That's a fantastic idea, Raine! We shouldn't waste any more time, let's finish up right away!"
The boys stood nearby, giving nods of approval before moving to sit next to each other and chat for a bit. Meanwhile, the girls were busy finishing up the decorating task they had taken on. Raine, in particular, was meticulously putting the finishing touches on the last Life Day tree, which was adorned with white tinsel and green bows along the pine branches. With care, she placed a star on top of the tree to complete the festive look.
As Elena decorated the room, she carefully hung different ornaments and trinkets on the walls and ceiling. Among them was a small sprig of mistletoe, which she strategically placed under the doorway. While doing so, she couldn't help but think that this would be the ideal chance for Raine and Reno to share a romantic moment.
Elena had just finished adorning the room with various decorative items. She hopped down from the ladder and faced her three friends with a bright smile on her face. "I have an excellent suggestion," she exclaimed. "What if we organize a Secret Santa among ourselves?"
She proceeded to pick up a plastic hat from a nearby container and gestured towards some white paper sheets placed on the table.
Elena received nods from Raine, Reno, and Rude, who all smiled at each other before acknowledging her.
Raine's eyes lit up with excitement as she exclaimed, "Sounds like a lot of fun!" She paused for a moment, lost in thought, before tapping her finger against her chin. "I can't help but wonder just how much we all truly know each other on a personal level..."
Rude made a teasing comment, "Well, we won't know until we try," and then gestured towards Elena, who had already taken out four pieces of paper and carefully written down everyone's names on them.
Elena took great care in shuffling the folded paper slips thoroughly in the black plastic hat before she delicately reached in and plucked out a single slip of paper. With a sense of anticipation, she moved on to Raine who eagerly took her turn and drew another slip of paper from the hat. Rude and Reno followed suit, each selecting their slips of paper from the hat, their expressions betraying their curiosity and excitement.
"Okay, make sure you don't peek at your paper slips until after work hours when everyone has gone home. We have the whole day today and tomorrow to prepare our gifts before the winter party tomorrow evening," Elena clarified to the group.
The other three nodded their heads.
After finishing up their work, Elena, Raine, Reno, and Rude carefully gathered all the leftover decorations from the table, making sure to leave the place spotless. Once they were done, they calmly and methodically packed their belongings and headed home, satisfied with a productive day's work.
Each member opened the paper slips on the way home, revealing who they'd give a gift to. Raine got Rude, Rude got Elena, Elena got Reno, and Reno got Raine.
The name forced a lump to Reno's throat. He got Raine. He had already spent three years with his Raine. And what was the issue? As for what to give her for the Secret Santa, he had no clue. For a girl who is so flawless and so considerate of everyone around her, what do you get? He was merely a young boy hopelessly in love with her, and she was everything.
On his way home, Reno fidgeted with his rod and repeatedly read the name on the paper slip. He considered bouquets, candies, and various jewelry or trinkets that Raine could find appealing, but that was the issue. Reno's mind was filled with only one person: Raine.
Raine's beauty, sensitivity, and sense of style were unmatched. The beams of the sun in the sky kissed her soul so tenderly that Reno caught a glimpse of the lifestream itself if her lips were to touch his.
Regaining consciousness after his trance, Reno dialed Elena, the only person who knew Raine quite as well as he did. Heading into Sector 3 for the night, he got on the underground train. He waited for Elena to pick up whilst seated.
He became increasingly nervous as his phone rang, hoping she would answer it quickly. "Please, please, please, hurry up!"
At last, Elena responded, "Hey Reno! What's wrong? Did you burn yourself again?”
"No, no, I'm alright. He grumbled, "I was calling because I don't know what to get for my Secret Santa." Reno answered.
"I figured you'd say that," Elena said, nodding. “Look, I'm not supposed to—”
"Elena, just do this for me, please! If it was simple to solve, I wouldn't be calling! Reno essentially begged through the phone.
"All right, let me guess," groaned Elena. “You seem nervous, so I assume you got Raine?”
"How did you know?" Reno pretended to cough in an attempt to wave it off.
"Just get her something thoughtful," Elena said, laughing and shaking her head. “Well, there must be something she enjoys. Perhaps a necklace made of flowers or something sentimental. Anything that I know Raine appreciates would likely be something that was made exclusively for her.”
Reno mentally jotted down what Elena said, and he found her advice to be quite beneficial, "You know, you're right! I'm sure I can come up with something to suggest to Raine using this idea. Thanks a bunch, Elena.”
"Not a problem! I expect to see you tomorrow, good luck!” Elena smiled.
"Bye! See you tomorrow!” After hanging up, Reno left the train and headed up the steps towards the walkway home in Sector 3, thinking of what he should prepare Raine for his Secret Santa present.
His judgment was obscured by the frigid air that entered his nostrils as he strolled through Sector 3's bleak streets.
Then it hit him, "Oh! I'll make her a bracelet! I have some thread and beads at home that I think she'll like.”
Reno's mind kept running through plans of creating the perfect bracelet for Raine, his Secret Santa recipient, as he drew nearer to his little home in Sector 3. As he entered his house, his red hair glinted in the city lights.
"Okay, Raine, get ready for some handmade charm," Reno murmured, laughing to himself. He imagined the bracelet—a fusion of vivid beads and subdued jewels—that would go well with Raine's fashion sense. After opening his door and entering, he shut it behind him and went straight to his closet's craft bin.
Reno dug through his belongings and found a variety of gemstones and beads he had accumulated over the years. With a look of uneasiness mixed with determination, he sat on the edge of his cluttered desk. He pondered as he looked over the selection, "Let's see... I'll start with these blue beads,"
For Reno, the procedure was a journey of trial and error. Occasionally murmuring to himself, he wound the rope through beads, asking, "Is this too much? Nope, Raine like a little audacity." His fingers exhibited an unexpected dexterity as they wove a pattern that gained shape over time. Reno was a little frustrated at first since he had to start over and reassemble the beads due to carelessness.
Observing the time, Reno made an effort to work quickly without jeopardizing the level of quality.
Reno was unable to resist thinking back on Raine's peculiarities and advantages among the Turks while he labored. He intertwined the beads carefully, saying, "She's got that tough exterior, but there's a softer side too." Mirroring the layers of complexity he observed in Raine, the stones gave a touch of grace.
Reno's commitment to the endeavor persisted for hours on end. He thought of Raine's face, her emerald-green eyes glimmering with gratitude. "This better be worth it," he smiled to himself.
Reno finished the bracelet and held it up to look at it with a mixture of pride and amusement. He said, "Well, not bad for a Turk, huh?" as he considered the impending gift exchange. A sincere smile spread across Reno's face as he imagined Raine opening the bracelet and realized that sometimes the most unexpected actions might mean the most.
It was a serene night as Reno wound the bracelet, the colorful stones and beads tucked between the paper's creases. He smiled to himself, picturing Raine's shocked face as she opened the homemade present. He muttered to himself, "I hope she appreciates the effort," and set the wrapped bracelet down on his bedside table.
Reno yawned after a basic dinner of takeout noodles, understanding that even Turks needed beauty sleep. After brushing his teeth, he glanced in the bathroom mirror at himself. He joked, "Gotta look sharp for the gift exchange," and subsequently fell asleep, not even remembering when his head hit the pillow.
Reno woke up to his alarm going off early the next morning. His eyes were drawn to the wrapped bracelet as he groaned and staggered out of bed. His face twisted into a smile as he thought about the coming day.
Drinking a strong cup of coffee, Reno thought about the Secret Santa exchange that was coming soon. He retrieved his suit and ironed it carefully, trying not to wrinkle it. He laughed to himself, "Turks gotta look their best." He decided to add a pop of brilliant red to his hair color to keep his signature look after seeing that his crimson locks were starting to fade a little.
Using his kit and dye brush, Reno spent the next hour dying his hair. He wrapped foil around the colored sections to let them set.
Pulling out his phone, Reno called Rude while waiting for the dye to set. "Hey, Rude! "What did ya get Elena?" With his TV on in the background, he asked.
Over the phone, Rude's deep voice could be heard, "I got her a set of old photography books. You know, she likes that artistic stuff."
Nice choice, dude. classy." Reno smiled and kept dabbing at the color. "You know what I got for Raine?"
"Some jewelry?" Rude asked Reno, his eyebrows furrowing as he considered.
"Close...a bracelet handcrafted by hand! Made it myself," Reno praised his achievement.
On the other end, Rude's deep voice laughed, "Handmade? You? That caught me off guard. Still, I'm sure she'll enjoy it."
Reno smirked, "Yeah, well, don't underestimate the Turk touch."
Their conversation flowed seamlessly, shifting from gift exchanges to work schedules. "We got that mission tomorrow, right?" Reno asked, adjusting the phone between his shoulder and ear.
"Yep. Gonna be a busy week," Rude replied.
"Tell me about it," Reno quipped, finishing up his hair. "Alright, catch you later, partner."
As the call ended, Reno admired his refreshed hair in the mirror, a sly grin playing on his lips.
Ready for the day, he slipped on his outfit. Reno departed from his house, the wrapped bracelet safely tucked into his pocket, looking forward to the camaraderie of the upcoming Secret Santa exchange.
Reno strolled briskly from his residence in Sector 3, the city sounds blending with the rhythmic tapping of his boots against the pavement. The morning sun cast a warm glow on Midgar as he approached the underground railway. Boarding the train, he navigated the familiar route to the Shinra Building.
Reno flashed his Turk ID as he checked in at the security gates with ease. He was called upon by the stoic Turk leader Tseng to help with a variety of duties. Reno spent the afternoon handling paperwork, planning future operations, and communicating with other departments to make sure the Turks ran smoothly.
Tseng gave a rare nod in acknowledgment of Reno's effectiveness. "Well done, Reno. The Turks benefit from your talent for handling these details."
Reno grinned, "Just doing my thing, boss. You know how I roll."
Following the completion of his tasks, Reno went around giving Tseng, Rufus, and even President Shinra housewarming presents. Though they were small, such behaviors provided the work environment a sense of companionship. The Turk occupied a special place in Shinra due to his ability to strike a balance between his irreverent attitude and his professional responsibilities.
Reno arrived at the main Turks area, where he was welcomed by the typical hum of activity, after finishing his responsibilities. Rude and Elena were already at their stations when he arrived. “Morning, pals," he said with a nonchalant wave.
Elena gave Reno a fleeting smile, but Rude nodded, lost in a report. “Reno, you seem pleased with yourself! All set for tonight?"
Reno, with a playful twinkle in his eye, leaned on a desk. "I think so! I've got the bracelet right here! I'm hoping Raine will love it.”
The companionship in the air increased as they joked around with each other. The three of them waited for Raine to show up for the Secret Santa trade. Shinra's business tone was punctuated by the Turks' normal banter and friendship, which created the perfect environment for a memorable and amusing discussion.
Raine entered the Turks headquarters with a self-assured posture, seeing the faces of Reno, Rude, and Elena that she knew well, "Hey, everyone!"
"Raine, you made it!" Reno said with a teasing grin. “Are you ready for some holiday fun, Turk-style?”
She chuckled, "Absolutely. What's the plan?"
"First, we got some business to take care of," Reno said, gesturing to their workstations. “Though the fun is just around the corner.”
There was a distinct hum of business and cooperation in the Turks Headquarters as they settled into their daily tasks. With his attention on an article, Rude nodded modestly to Raine's entrance.
Elena beamed, "By the way, nice dress! I adore the shade on you!"
Raine, intrigued, leaned against a desk. "Thanks Elena! What did you end up getting Reno for secret Santa?"
Elena put her pointer finger up to her mouth, “You’ll have to wait and see..”
The room filled with bits and pieces of animated conversation as the job went on. Raine and Elena laughed at a clever remark, and Rude's sardonic humor made the job at hand seem a little less serious. With his characteristic irreverence, Reno maintained the banter and made the ordinary seem less so.
The anticipation for the forthcoming present exchange lingered in the air among the tasks. Raine couldn't help but admire the Turks' unique friendship - a blend of professionalism and genuine connection. Though not overt, the festive atmosphere pervaded their interactions, making the Turks HQ feel more like a close-knit family than a job.
Reno signaled to the group that tasks were almost finished by clapping his hands. "Now, Turks, let's change course. Awaiting you is your secret Santa!"
The Turks exchanged a glance, preparing for the Christmas exchange that promised surprises, laughing, and possibly a few unexpected moments in the midst of their hectic working life.
The Turks' Lounge Room was decked out in subtle holiday decorations, ready to accommodate the Secret Santa exchange.
Rude offered Elena a beautifully wrapped surprise with a gentle manner.
Elena's eyes glowed as she unwrapped the present. "These are incredible, Rude!" You are aware of my passion for photography. "Thank you," she shouted, grateful for the kind gift.
Elena turned to Reno, a cheeky smile on her face, and handed him a wrapped parcel. "Your turn, Reno," she jokingly said.
Reno grinned as he eagerly unwrapped the present. He was ecstatic to discover a sleek new electric rod and a set of fashionable goggles. "You nailed it, Elena!" These will be useful on our next mission. "Thank you!" he said, enjoying the equipment.
The Turks took a little pause after exchanging gifts. The wrapping paper crinkled underfoot as they tossed it aside, and the room was filled with laughing and conversation. Elena advised a quick refreshment run with a joyful twinkle in her eye.
"Who's up for snacks and drinks?" She called out, already on her way to the break room.
Reno, getting into the spirit, said, "Count me in." I need to refuel before the next round of gifts."
Elena produced a batch of hot cocoa for the gathering, and the aroma floated across the air.
Reno, who was sitting close, couldn't help but remark, "Elena, you're a magician with those goggles and now hot cocoa. What's next, a holiday cookbook for Turks?"
Elena chuckled as she handed him a steamy mug. "Perhaps next year, Reno. For now, just enjoy the hot chocolate and munchies."
Elena passed out the rest of the mugs and snacked on a cracker before clearing her throat, “Raine, Reno, you guys are up next!”
"Alright! "Wait a second!" Raine retrieved a massive wrapped present from a neighboring broom closet, causing the others to laugh.
Raine approached Rude and handed him a neatly packed suitcase. "For the Turk who always keeps it sharp," she chuckled.
Rude lifted an inquisitive brow as he opened the suitcase. An assortment of identical sunglasses and elegant suits were carefully organized inside. "Raine, this is... impressive," he exclaimed, amazed. "You have style, girl. Thanks."
As Raine and Rude exchanged grateful glances, all eyes were drawn to Reno, who excitedly reached for the next gift. He handed Raine a little, beautifully wrapped present with a chuckle. "It's your turn, Raine. I hope you enjoy it."
Raine's interest piqued as she unwrapped the gift, displaying the handcrafted bracelet Reno had fashioned for her. Her eyes expanded, and a genuine smile appeared on her face. "Reno, this is stunning. "Did you make it yourself?" she said, her voice full of awe.
Reno nodded his head, faking indifference. "Yeah, I thought I'd try my hand at arts and crafts. You know, for the holidays."
Raine's thankfulness overflowed, and she smiled up at Reno. "I adore it, Reno. "It's perfect," she said, planting a delicate kiss on his cheek.
Rude nodded in approval as the other Turks teased him. "Looks like the Secret Santa game is bringing out the soft side in our favorite Turk."
With the gift exchange concluded, the Turks decided to wind down the evening with hot chocolate and a festive movie. They gathered in the Lounge Room, where a makeshift mistletoe hung from the ceiling. Before catching up to the others…
“Hey, I really do love the bracelet! It's so beautiful!” Raine cheered.
Reno smirked, “Almost as beautiful as you.” He winked at her, causing her to blush. “Hey look, mistletoe, my dear.”
Raine looked up, blushing more at the sight of the festive plant and her eyes landed on the handsome redhead in front of her. Reno stood beneath it, inching closer to her. He let his hand caress her right temple, suddenly grabbing her by the waist and spun, dipping Raine down, never letting go over her.
Raine gasped, regaining her senses to note how close their lips were to one another.
“I love you, Raine.” Reno purred, his eyes dialated and full of love.
Raine smiled smittenly, looking up at his eyes and face, “I love you, Reno.”
Within a moment, their lips collided against each other’s, savoring the moment for what seemed like eternity. Their love was eternal since the moment they met years ago, never fading and only getting stronger with distance and time. Pulling away, the lovers shared a warm embrace before heading over to rejoin Rude and Elena.
Amidst laughter and shared glances, the Turks settled in for a cozy movie night. Elena, with her usual enthusiasm, called out, "Hot chocolate, anyone?" They indulged in steaming mugs and shared banter while watching a made-up Christmas movie that only the Turks could appreciate.
The room echoed with the warmth of friendship, the joy of thoughtful gifts, and the promise of holiday cheer among the tight-knit group.
The End.

anyway, on a more serious note, we’re really in the early stages of formal verification. the notes are right in feeling that formalization is currently annoying and time consuming. but it’s become easier to just reach for a definition or a structure without much consternation, and from what I’ve seen Lean is pretty focused specifically on making that process easier.
in just the past year or so I’ve seen tactics and interface infrastructure emerge for lean specifically to make the formalization process easier, like search tools (loogle and moogle—sorry, I didn’t name these), ways to add in all the assumptions you want (just as usual in natural language, but a pain during formalization), proof automation aids like `hint` which just tries a bunch of different high-powered tactics for you (some of which do their own library searching, in different ways), linters to help you see when you’ve gone astray in an obvious way, dynamic widgets for visualizing things, etc.
anyway this isn’t to say that formalizing is easy yet, but it has been wild to see the interface get better so quickly. (A lot of this is due to the new metaprogramming capabilities in Lean 4.) With all the funding they’ve got I imagine it’ll continue to improve.
I wonder when it (or something inspired by it/which learns from it) will be close enough to mathematical practice that it’s more or less no more effort to verify your proof than to write it (and the annoying in between steps that the original post is talking about will be automated and still not need to be written!). Past that point, proof assistants will actually be able to assist you in proofs! (imagine that!)
anyway my point is that in my experience we’re very tangibly heading in that direction, and it seems inevitable that one day we’ll get there.
i dont like how "trust-based" a lot of advanced math is. like, a lot of papers will at various points say "we did this calculation, and got this", (like, two steps in equation manipulation will be related in a very unclear way) and not show you the calculation. and i get it, typing up the calculation is annoying. but often, i will try to replicate the calculation, and will not be able to! and generally i assume this is because i am much worse at math than the author. but like. i guess i just have to take your word for it that the calculation works! this sucks! math isnt supposed to be like this! thats the whole point!
#I want to be clear that a lot of advanced math is in mathlib already. like we’re not behind on how advanced it can be really#we’re just behind on how easy it is to do

Got through Ch 1 and Ch 2. Trying to even out my thoughts with gripes and praise but uhh so far mostly complaints. It feels very FFXV in a lot of ways that I don’t think are great! Nothing super coherent or clear yet in the critique department
My concerns were immediately founded . I hope this game can make me at least tolerate Zack since he’s obviously gonna be a major part of it and I’ve never been a fan. Remake made me change some of my reception to other characters so it’s certainly possible!
Repeating NPC dialogue still sucks, but that’s not unique to FF. Still annoying.
Zangan is interesting and I’m really wanting more of him! I like his design a lot.
Don’t like the addition of Aerith chiming in on “You asshole!” when Cloud goes through Tifa’s room, I liked when it was just Tifa in the demo.
😞 they removed the sheet music from Tifa’s piano.
The audio mixing is still bad. The music is way too loud, even when manually adjusting in the options settings. Voices get drowned out
The acoustic guitar rendition of Tifa’s theme is really cute
I don’t mind the yellow shelf paint, because the game is already so visually busy it really needs to paint to stand out
As one half of my favorite YT video gamers, ChipCheezum, said: there is a level of nuance given to Sephiroth here that he usually isn’t given, and it is very refreshing to see
Pacing is a bit slow while crawling in the village. By a bit slow I mean way too slow
Cutting the camera away from Tifa showing her scar just made the scene funny, idk why they did that
Literally laughed out loud at the weather warfare conspiracy. I get that magic exists in this world but lmfao, yeah, Wutai controls the weather. Great cover story Shinra
I see a mysterious freak with a kind disposition and dying cough and I latch on, so Broden’s inevitable doom will break my heart.
I usually like remake Aerith fine but Christ she is very aggressive in her flirting and there’s no option to tell her no. I don’t care about the love triangle and never have so it’s just exhausting.
I spent all of Ch 2 with Red and Barret as my party because I got so tired of the romance shit with the girls in the opening scenes. Doesn’t seem to matter tho because party members never really say anything unless there’s a side quest they care about.
Red’s fun to play, I like his spins a lot! He still does the standing up roaring animation on battle end which is cute, and he rides a chocobo like a human shaped person which is also cute.
Animations are slow and overbearing. Not quite rdr2 levels but still enough to be annoying.
There’s a few seconds after moving from something or getting up from a bench when you cannot enter the start menu or save menu and it trips me up every time.
MAI. Is certainly a character. I turned her voice off (and by extension Chadley) because the one introduction was too much. Chadley is fine, Chadley is good. I did not need a worse version of him chittering in my ear during combat. It’s like they saw how (some) people like Purah and wanted to make their own.
There’s a lot going on mechanics wise and I think maybe there’s too much. Crafting, synergy moves, weapon abilities, folios, equipment leveling, materia, all on top of the combat system. I do not think this game needed crafting, tbh.
Fuck queen’s blood and fuck the side quest chain for it. Sorry Tifa, I’m not helping out this bartender because i don’t like this card game and your favored side quest requires me to play it.
The field and combat versions of Hollow are great, really liked those.
Fuck those moogles, man.
I hate the overfilled open world! Society has progressed past the need for open world in everything! What took 10 minutes in the original is now 10 hours - I don’t see how people can consider that a good thing when most of that time is wandering around doing fetch quests and gathering crafting materials. Unfortunately the only way to find out which quests are actually interesting is by playing them through. A burst pipe leading to a fast approaching energy crisis? Sounds interesting, too bad fucking Kyrie ruins it. A farmer’s cows are harassed by a monster? Sounds boring as fuck, but it leads to a questline shedding light on Junon’s history and Broden’s past, both of which are interesting and relevant to the story!
