You know how the Youtube channel Defunctland sometimes covers canceled TV shows? He should totally do an episode on The Pink Opaque. It's such a shame that nobody really talks about it these days, and I'm sure there must be some crazy backstory behind the bizarre downer ending.

There are so many variations you can do with an I Saw The TV Glow and Marble Hornets AU/parody like seriously any person can fill any role. Its just based on the vibes you want and the characters you want to focus on.

The one I recommend that is probably the most strange is where Alex and Jay are Maddie and Owen, BUT, Tim and Bri are Tara and Isabelle. Two masked men fighting Mr. Operator. They wear the masks to keep their faces from being stolen. Instead of being forced to drink Luna juice their masks are removed and they're buried under ground, hearts removed. Weird way to include everybody. You know how the rest plays out.

Then the obvious Brim centered one where Tim and Brian are Maddie and Owen, and their masked/hooded selves are Tara and Isabelle. Same sorta set up as the last one just a less extreme character swap. Great visuals of Hoody turning towards the screen in the season finale, lifting up his mask and its fucking Brian staring back out at BRIAN and he shoves his face in the TV. Good stuff. This works imo cause we know Tim is “the source” but I could see how some people would wanna swap them. Cause Brian/Hoody DOES go missing in MH and tries dragging Tim in with him

every single day I think about how Mr. Melancholy from I Saw the TV Glow is just the moon from the Tonight, Tonight music video by the Smashing Pumpkins (which they then have a cover of in the movie.) Said song is also on the album Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. This ties into how Scott Pilgrim is also full of smashing pumpkins references that are so funny to me specifically <3

I also think about how Fred Durst of limp bizkit fame is Owen’s dad (wild)

Who else has seen “I saw the TV glow” cuz I just watched and I’m throughly freaked out I want to cry but also wtf just happened I know im pretty sure it’s an allegory for being transgender but I’m so like lost I get it but at the time I don’t. I’ve made sense of it but at the same time I haven’t. Like why that ending? Do we get anymore?
