"Trump is better for the economy, though!"

Aside from almost every major economist agreeing that Trump's economic plans would actually make things far worse than they are now, this man can't even manage his campaign's, his businesses', OR his personal finances.

Case in point, here a list from Public Opinion of his failed business endeavors:

"Trump's companies have filed for bankruptcy at least six times. This is no exaggeration. Digital World noted this in its SEC filings. This excludes additional business failures that might not have declared bankruptcy, but closed owing vendors, employees and others."

"For the record, here are some of Trump's noteworthy business failures."

Trump Airlines — Trump borrowed $245 million to purchase Eastern Air Shuttle. He branded it Trump Airlines. He added gold bathroom fixtures. Two years later Trump could not cover the interest payment on his loan and defaulted.

Trump Beverages — Although Trump touted his water as "one of the purest natural spring waters bottled in the world," it was simply bottled by a third party. Other beverages, including Trump Fire and Trump Power, seem not to have made it to market. And Trump's American Pale Ale died with a trademark withdrawal.

Trump Game — Milton Bradley tried to sell it. As did Hasbro. After investment, the game died and went out of circulation.

Trump Casinos — Trump filed for bankruptcy three times on his casinos, namely the Trump Taj Mahal, the Trump Marina and the Trump Plaza in New Jersey and the Trump Casino in Indiana. Trump avoided debt obligations of $3 billion the first time. Then $1.8 billion the second time. And then after reorganizing, shuffling money and assets, and waiting four years, Trump again declared bankruptcy after missing ongoing interest payments on multi-million dollar bonds. He was finally forced to step down as chairman.

Trump Magazine — Trump Style and Trump World were renamed Trump Magazine to reap advertising dollars from his name recognition. However, Trump Magazine also went out of business.

Trump Mortgage — Trump told CNBC in 2006 that "I think it's a great time to start a mortgage company. … The real-estate market is going to be very strong for a long time to come." Then the real estate market collapsed. Trump had hired E.J. Ridings as CEO of Trump Mortgage and boasted that Ridings had been a "top executive of one of Wall Street's most prestigious investment banks." Turned out Ridings had only six months of experience as a stockbroker. Trump Mortgage closed and never paid a $298,274 judgment it owed a former employee, nor the $3,555 it owed in unpaid taxes.

Trump Steaks — Trump closed Trump Steaks due to a lack of sales while owing Buckhead Beef $715,000.

Trump's Travel Site — GoTrump.com was in business for one year. Failed.

Trumpnet — A telephone communication company that abandoned its trademark.

Trump Tower Tampa — Trump sold his name to the developers and received $2 million. Then the project went belly-up with only $3,500 left in the company. Condo buyers sued Trump for allegedly misleading them. Trump settled and paid as little as $11,115 to buyers who had lost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Trump University or the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative — Trump staged wealth-building seminars costing up to $34,995 for mentorships that would offer students access to Trump's secrets of success. Instructors turned out to be motivational speakers sometimes with criminal records. Lawsuits and criminal investigations abound.

Trump Vodka — Business failed due to a lack of sales.

Trump Fragrances — Success by Trump, Empire by Trump, and Donald Trump: The Fragrances all failed due to being discontinued, perhaps as a result of few sales.

Trump Mattress — Serta stopped offering a Trump-branded mattress, again likely due to slacking sales.

Truth Social — This existing Trump business owes big money, and may well be breathing its last.

And then of course is his long history of stiffing contractors, restaurants, and even entire cities for their event venues he used for his rallies—as well as some of his own followers—

What is this?

Nimona Week is a celebration of our favorite shapeshifting sidekick, in both her movie and comic incarnations. We're hoping to encourage new fanworks of all kinds. This year, Nimona Week will be both here on Tumblr and on Bluesky.

When is it?

Nimona Week will take place from Sunday, March 30 to Saturday, April 5, 2025. Those dates were chosen because March 31st is Trans Day of Visibility.

However, it's never "too late" to be inspired or post fanworks. We'll try to reblog tagged posts during actual Nimona Week, so keep that in mind if you decide to post early or late.

Are there prompts?

What can I make?

You can make or write basically anything featuring Nimona-the-character: haikus, limericks, 100 word drabbles, ficlets, long fics, traditional art, digital art, gifsets, cosplay, embroidery, etc.

SUBJECT: Ominous Developments in Vietnam

A number of recent significant military and political developments in

Vietnam provide an ominous indication of North Vietnamese strategy and

intentions for the months to come. The high level of military activity

since March 10 reinforces this view. These new developments are:

-- In December of 1974 the 23rd plenum of the Lao Dong Party

Central Committee issued Resolution 23. This may have dealt with a

new policy toward the South.

-- In late February and early March, high level Soviet and PRC

delegations visited Hanoi. Soviet Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay

Firyubin led the Soviet group. The presence of the PRC delegation and

Firyubin in Hanoi may be the result of a major Hanoi policy change relating

to the war in South Vietnam.

-- Communications intelligence indicates that as of March 10,

North Vietnam is apparently deploying to the South an integral unit, the

size and identity of which are unknown. This is in addition to the probable

movement of elements of the 341st NVA Division from Quang Binh in North

Vietnam across the DMZ into Quang Tri and the confirmed movement of

the 968th Division from Laos into the central highlands.

-- The forward element of COSVN has expanded its communications

and is now in contact with at least three divisions and a number of inde-

pendent units in the Tay Ninh -- Parrots Beak Area. This forward element

will probably be the senior tactical control unit in the expected coordinated

Communist offensive in MR 3. Its existence is more evidence of forthcoming

multi-regiment size attacks in that area.

Okay, so, this fic? This book is like the show Russian doll. Or Happy Death Day. The best kind of groundhogs day time loop fic, where the death resets the day over and over again. And after each loop, Adam and Ronan slowly start to…glitch. And slide. And fall out of time itself.

This fic is, perhaps, my favorite version of this trope. I grabbed on to that hiccupping, time-stutter idea and pressed it into a digital form - a glitching, fizzy, warping version of a stuttering iPod.

The typeset for this bind progressively

The headers, the fonts, the page breaks, the addition of texture and visual noise into the pages - ramps up through the typeset. I love it. I think it's fucking crazy and I love it so much.

This is the first time I tired to print a cover. It….went. It happened. It looks pretty ok, but this is not how I'm going to ever print out a cover image ever again. I do like this laminate, so I'll probably use that again with a different type of paper. But I can check off the 'try a new cover material' off my Resolution list for this year.

And, like - it's pretty crisp. The image looks pretty good, the color is nice - it's fucking weird and I love it. The spine being simple and so widely different is also a fucking vibe. I'm fucking grooving on this theme dudes, I don't know what else to day.

I used a multi-colored thread for the headband, so it is also changing and random in color.

My first time screwing up a book like this, so I'm giving myself a pass, but also…this kind of works for this book? You have to read it backwards to get to the front cover. It fits, and I'm only a little mad about it?

Light That Never Quite Returns the Same , a poetic research by filmmakerAndreea Cristina Borțun, is the project that lays the foundations ofthe Atelier de Creație Digitală, within the production companyAtelier de Film, and had its first public presentation on May 26, during an event held at Random House, attended by a number of journalists and people from the film and cultural industries.

The project is a multiplatform one, conceived by the author as an installation of 4 audio-video experiences in which the viewer is invited to gradually discover the construct of the phalanstery and of some of the utopian communities that functioned in the 19th century. The visual experience is a group one, all participants can watch the images together, but the audio experience is individual, through a set of headphones, isolating the viewer from the crowd and immersing him in the world presented on the screen. Part of the material resulting from the research will also be presented in a short film format on the online platform TIFF Unlimited, in the near future.

The development of the Digital Creation Workshop division , within the GS Atelier de Film company , was achieved through financial support from the Ministry of Culture, implemented within the Call for Projects: "Supporting cultural initiatives to accelerate the digitalization of film production and distribution, including cinematographic films".

Atelier de Creație Digitală aims to be a division dedicated to the development of digital productions, to become a link between cinemas, the public and new exploitation platforms by creating a multi-platform distribution structure from the development stage.

The main objective of the first project developed within the division was to create an audio-visual and narrative documentary that will form the basis of the next feature film that Andreea Cristina Borțun will direct, titled Égalité , and which finds its inspiration in the first two phalanster communities in Europe, the one in France and the one in Romania.

The direct result is the poetic short documentary Light That Never Quite Returns the Same , a sensory investigation in 4 chapters, which follows the path of light and the things seen, heard and imagined by it, in the Colony of Condé-sur-Vesgre, the Phalanster of Scăieni, the Cité Napoléon and the Familistère of Guise.

"In all the places I documented, I noticed the recurring presence of light - it invaded all the spaces and you could feel it most often in the window frames that contained it and reflected on the walls and floors. In addition, people who talked about the history of places often used words like 'light', 'ventilation', 'running water'. This made me think that light, ventilation and running water are considered, in this reference system, essential elements that make you feel that the space you live in respects human dignity - of the body and the psyche at the same time. I think that the experience of our mammalian bodies, once they were extracted from natural space and sheltered in spaces built by man, was also widowed somewhere. It is impressive when you see that architecture supports the communitarian spirit and takes into account the preservation of the dignity of bodies in their direct chemistry-environment relationship. Often using tools from sensory anthropology in my artistic practice, "I think it's important to look at history, in this case that of several 19th-century utopian communities, starting from how it is felt through the relationship of the body with the environment in which it lives," said Andreea Cristina Borțun on the occasion of the presentation event.

Andreea is a film director who works in a transdisciplinary manner. She teaches in the Screenwriting: Filmology department of the National University of Theatre and Cinematography "ILCaragiale" and is the co-founder of "Pustnik", the longest-running international screenwriting residency in Romania, a laboratory setting where she experiments with narrative development methodology for cinema. She uses film as a sensory medium to create projects and narratives that speak about the origins of the mind, our communities or nature. Her first feature film, Malul Vânăt / A River's Gaze , will be released in cinemas later this year and will be part of a trilogy currently in production. Égalité , whose script will be developed based on the recently released digital product Light That Never Quite Returns the Same , will conclude the trilogy.

The presentation event of the audio-visual project Light That Never Quite Returns the Same also marked the end of the P55 "Digital Creation Workshop" project, its final objective having been achieved. The activity of the new digital production division will continue, with more information to be announced on the official communication channels of Atelier de Film.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on September 26, publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Gust announced. The PlayStation 4 version will only be available in Japan.

Everyone who purchases either the physical or digital editions up to the first two weeks after release will receive the “Activewear Adventuring Set” for protagonists Rias and Slade, and the “Adventuring Charm Set” as early purchase bonus.

Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian takes players on a mysterious and cozy adventure alongside new protagonists Rias Eidreise, an adventurer with a talent for alchemy, and Slade Clauslyter, a young man capable of opening entrances to dimensional paths leading to alternate dimensions. These two heroes will join forces in an attempt to discover the reason for the disappearance of the inhabitants of Hallfein, while also trying to follow in the footsteps of their loved ones and restore their hometown. During their journey, they will meet various characters who will help them, including familiar faces from the Atelier series such as Sophie Nuenmuller, Razeluxe Meitzen, Totori Helmold, and Wilbell Voll-Ersleid. Set in the universe of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, this new Atelier title will transport players to the continent of Lantarna, where they can explore, gather ingredients for synthesis and discover every secret corner, day or night, rain or shine. Players will also have the opportunity to explore multi-level dungeons, known as “Dimensional Paths,” where the structure will change randomly with each visit, allowing players to gather different ingredients and challenge new enemies depending on the difficulty level chosen. Fights in Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian will blend strategy with turn-based combat for strategic timeline command battles where players can form a team of six characters (three in the front line and three in the back). By using action points and equipped items to their advantage, users will be able to inflict damage and influence the timeline of characters’ turns, triggering consecutive turns for allies and activating powerful unite attacks. Using ingredients gathered during exploration or combat, Rias will be able to synthesis various items during a process called “Gift Color Synthesis.” During this synthesis process, players will have to connect the “Gift Colors” of the ingredients together to create new items. They will also be able to assign traits or change recipes depending on the ingredients used. When certain characters come to lend Rias a hand, this will further strengthen the item created. In addition to the traditional Atelier gameplay system alternating between exploration, combat and synthesis, users will be able to sell items via Rias’ shop while helping develop the town. By selling synthesized items, players will earn money they can invest in the development of Hallfein, thus unlocking new recipes and progressing through the main story.

PRICING INFO

Because I’m too lazy to come up with complicated price structures, I’ll just be charging a flat rate of $20/hour for any work I do on the art piece. The clock starts when I pick up the pencil or digital stylus and ends when I put it down.

This does mean that prices will vary, depending on how time-consuming each art piece is, but I can give you some rough estimates.

Upper Body Sketch: Approx. 30 min = $10 for one

It takes me about half an hour to draw a bust or upper body sketch. This time can be shortened if I’m already familiar with the character design, or lengthened if I’m drawing an unfamiliar character or doing some weird perspective stuff.

Every additional figure would probably take another half an hour, adding about $10 each.

Full-Body Sketch: Approx. 1 hour = $20 for one

Drawing an entire figure is a little harder than just drawing the upper body, so this one might take longer. Again, this time can be shortened or lengthened depending on my familiarity with the character, how complex the design is, and whether I’m doing any complicated posing or perspective.

Adding additional figures can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour, adding $10-$20 each.

Animals: Approx. 1.5 hrs = $30 for one

Animals are not my strong suit, though I have gotten better at drawing them over time! However, the extra time studying reference photos and trying to get the anatomy correct can stack up quickly, so you’ll want to be aware of that if you’re commissioning something with an animal involved.

Posters: Minumum 3 hrs = approx. $60

Posters take a little extra time—and usually some trial and error—to plan the layout in a dynamic way. They also take up an entire sketchbook page and tend to include multiple people and some extreme perspective to add visual appeal. You can expect a poster to take about three hours minimum to complete.

Multi-Panel Comics: Minimum 4 hrs a page = $80

Drawing a comic big enough to cover an entire sketchbook page can take me anywhere from 4 to 6 hours of work. If drawing a long-form comic, I will probably divide the work over several days. Brainstorming will happen on the first day, when I’ll plan out how many panels I’ll need for the comic, and then I’ll get in contact with you to tell you an estimated price before I proceed.

Digital Coloring: Minimum 1.5 hrs = add approx. $30

Coloring things digitally takes about double the time it would to sketch; I’ve noticed it takes around two hours to color a simple image, with another hour added for each figure involved. This first image took me about an hour and a half to outline and color, while the second took about five hours.

If your commissioned artwork is Lord of the Rings-related, I can put it into my Redbubble shop, where you can have it printed on stickers, t-shirts, journals, mugs, and lots of other products! I won’t charge any extra fee, but you will have to pay whatever price Redbubble asks. Full disclosure: I receive only 10% of the profit from Redbubble sales; the rest goes to the website to cover manufacturing and shipping costs.

Yes, I need to explain how numbers work for this proof.

Let's go back to elementary school. You're being taught basic addition of multi-digit numbers. You're given the number 54,321. 54,321 = 50,000 + 4,000 + 300 + 20 + 1

Let's expand that a little.

54,321 = 5*10,000 + 4*1,000 + 3*100 + 2*10 + 1

Now I''m going to take an aside and mention exponents, just in case.

Normal notation for exponents are a base number with a smaller number floating on the top right corner of your base value. Since Tumblr can't support that notation, I'll use a^b as the notation.

When you have an exponent, you have to multiply the base number by itself however many times the exponent number is. For example, 3^4 = 3*3*3*3 = 81.

Also, if the exponent value is 0 or smaller, you start dividing by the base number instead. So 3^0 = 3/3 = 1.

Now that I've explained that, let's go back to earlier.

54,321 = 5*10,000 + 4*1,000 + 3*100 + 2*10 + 1

Each digit in 54,321 is beling multiplied by an exponential power of 10.

54,321 = 5*10^4 + 4*10^3 + 3*10^2 + 2*10^1 + 1*10^0

This expanded form of an arbitrary number is going to be necessary for the proof.

Modulo and Equivalence

Let's go back to elementary school again. Remember how in division, you'd give a remainder as part of your answer? 12 / 5 = 2 remainder 2.

The modulo operator returns the remainder when you divide two numbers. In programming, % is used for modulo so I'll use that for notation. So 12 % 5 = 2.

An expansion of modulo is equivalence. Two numbers are equivalent under a modulo value when both numbers have the same remainder when divided by the modulo value. Under modulo value 5, 7 and 12 are equivalent because 7 % 5 = 2 and 12 % 5 = 2.

The normal notation for equivalence is the equal sign with 3 lines instead of 2. I'll use == for the notation here.

Since 7 and 12 are equivalent under mod 5, the notation is 7 == 12 (mod 5)

If a number is evenly divisible by a modulo power, it's equivalent to 0. 5 / 5 = 1, therefore 5 % 5 = 0, therefore 5 == 0 (mod 5)

There are some special rules about numbers that are equivalent. We'll let a, b, c, and m be arbitrary numbers.

If a == b (mod m), then a+c == b+c (mod m) If a == b (mod m), then a*c == b*c (mod m) If a == b (mod m), then a^c == b^c (mod m)

The Proof

Now let's move onto the proof.

Let's say we have some arbitrary whole number X which is divisible by 3. That means there is some whole number c such that X = 3*c. So if X is 327, c would be 109 because 109*3 = 327.

Now let's rewrite X into the expanded form from the Numbers section. We'll let d(0) refer to the least significant digit (The one at the far right). d(1) will be the next least significant digit and so on until we reach d(n), the most significant digit.

X = d(n)*10^n + d(n-1)*10^(n-1) + ... + d(1)*10^1 + d(0)*10^0

Since X is divisible by 3, that means the long form of X is equal to 3c.

d(n)*10^n + d(n-1)*10^(n-1) + … + d(1)*10^1 + d(0)*10^0 = 3*c

Now let's start doing some modulo.

10 == 1 (mod 3)

By the earlier rules mentioned in the Modulo section, we can multiply and exponentiate each term (The parts between the +) and they're still equivalent. So now we'll replace each term with an equivalent term under mod 3.

d(n)*10^n + d(n-1)*10^(n-1) + ... + d(1)*10^1 + d(0)*10^0 == d(n)*1^n + d(n-1)*1^(n-1) + … + d(1)*1^1 + d(0)*1^0 (mod 3)

1 exponentiated to any power is 1 so

d(n)*10^n + d(n-1)*10^(n-1) + ... + d(1)*10^1 + d(0)*10^0 == d(n) + d(n-1) + … + d(1) + d(0) (mod 3)

Meanwhile 3*c == 0 (mod 3). Since 3*c = X, then anything equivalent to X is equivalent to 0.

d(n) + d(n-1) + … + d(1) + d(0) == 0 (mod 3)

At this point we can say the sum of all the digits of X can be divided by 3 because the sum would have no remainder.

So in conclusion, if the sum of all the digits of a number can be divided by 3, then the number can be divided by 3.

I'm not a person of color. Can I attend? This event is professional game devs or anyone wishing to be professional game dev! This includes artists, composers, writers, programmers, etc. who make things for games! This event includes and centers developers of color and their work, but anyone is welcome to attend!

Is this game virtual or in-person? The event is virtual first with all talks, panels, interviews as well as networking events, live chat, job boards, etc. being available virtually through Swapcard and Gather. However, there are in-person watch parties in WA, LA & NYC where folks can meet others and watch these talks together as well as enjoy light refreshments and potential raffles.

Do I need to be in the games industry to attend? No! We welcome people from outside the industry. Whether you're a fan of games or just curious, you'll have a blast at our event.

What if I can't make it for the live event or am only available part of the time? Even if you can't attend in-person or only have limited availability for the run of the event, your ticket will give you full access to the entire virtual event. This means every talk, panel, interview, etc. can be watched back later at your leisure, including live chat replay so feel free to pop in for what you're available for! This was written for Klaroline Fanfic Week @klarolinefanficweek; Week 4 [April 20-April 26, 2025] – Science fiction. This is inspired by the movie, Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Bodily (Harm)ony

            She’d never had surgery. An Unmarked One. And Caroline made sure no one knew. After all, not having surgery was a sign that you’d given up; you didn’t care about becoming the best possible version of yourself. She should’ve never gotten into bodywork. But she needed the money — her mom’s Zydrate addiction would’ve put them out on the streets had Caroline not become a Salvatore Stripper Girl. 

            At first, bodywork was glamorous and made her feel sexy and important. Her face (and many other parts) were projected on every Salvatore holoscreen board in Mystic Falls and she gained a huge following. She’d moved both her and her mom out of their one-bedroom pod. At least now her mom can go through those endless cycles of Zydrate overdoses and withdrawals on a genuine marble-simulator bathroom floor.   

            She’d been so careful applying elaborate scars and wounds with virtual makeup, but one tiny power surge and the circuits flickered just enough to showcase unblemished skin and her boss realized she was an Unmarked One. Cackling gleefully, Damon had her bound and transported to GeneCo, the conglomerate biotech company specializing in plastic surgery and organ transplants.

            Caroline blinked up at the imposing portrait of the Mikaelson family that adorned the small, blindingly white GeneCo room they’d shoved her in. Mikael was the patriarch who’d built the corporation into a multi-billion-dollar behemoth. Rumor had it the ruthless businessman was planning to leave the company to only one of his seven children and the infighting had spilled out onto the streets as warring factions vied to secure power for whichever sibling they supported. The Mikaelsons were ruthless and terrifying — and absurdly attractive. Not that she’d noticed. And she certainly didn’t look for a specific pair of dimples whenever their GeneCo “family” ads appeared on the neuro-social feeds.

            The digital wall chimed with a deceptively pleasant note, flashing a welcome message to her that extolled the virtues of the “extraordinary surgical journal” she was about to embark upon to “bring her body in harmony with her true self.” And then it listed all of her surgeries in a cheerful pink. So many goddamn surgeries.

            Fuck that. Caroline grimly flexed her hands, carefully testing the joints for any residual shakes. Damon and his crew of muscle-heads had shot her up with a light dose of Zydrate, just enough to keep her compliant. The hardcore Zydrate doses would happen once they started cutting her up. She let out a pleased huff as her muscles all seemed to be responding. Time to go.

            It was the first time she’d ever been grateful that Damon was so fanatical about the Salvatore Stripper Girl “look”. In addition to outfits that were little more than strings squeezing and molding their shapes, Damon also insisted on long hair tied up in silver and gold spikes. With a pleased hum, she pulled apart her tightly-bound hairdo, gripping a spike in each hand. The lockdown barrier could be disrupted on a subatomic level; it was a theory her friend Bonnie had worked on for years before inventing a successful Q-fracture particle. And then she was forcibly dragged out of her balcony pod.

            The Q-fracture particle that Bonnie had given her was embedded in the gold spike for better conduction; but Caroline hadn’t used it until now. Bonnie’s sentencing had left its mark. Holding her breath, she carefully breached the particle field, a muffled hiss and pop signaling her success. Carefully sliding through the temporarily frozen barrier, she quickly darted down the empty hallway, ignoring the neuro-sensory ads that appeared every few steps.

            Ducking into a supply pod, she frantically pulled on a GeneCo bio-suit, the slick fabric smoothly sliding into place.

            “Well, aren’t you an unexpected surprise. Tell me, love, are you hiding from unbearable relatives too?”

            She’d somehow managed to take a terrible situation and make it far, far worse. Klaus Mikaelson, one of the potential heirs to GeneCo, was staring at her from across the shelves. Of all the supply pods…

            Say nothing. Klaus is part of the system. His family invented the system. The silence stretched between them until she shuffled uncomfortably, slippered feet hiding underneath the stack of synthetic skin robes. She cried out when he unexpectedly grabbed her arm, running his neuro-ring with the austere Mikaelson crest along her wrist.

            At the damning hologram that revealed itself above her unmarred skin, Klaus’ startled gaze found hers. “You’re an Unmarked One.” He released her wrist with surprisingly gentle care, an edge to his tone as he asked, “Who brought you here?”

            “I’m a Salvatore Stripper Girl — who do you think,” Caroline asked mockingly. 

            The answering growl was filled with more venom than even she possessed. “Damon Salvatore.”

            Crossing her arms defiantly, she scoffed, “Of course it was Damon. He’s ordered all my surgeries to be rushed through so I can get back on stage faster. I bet your company already has shown him the menu of post-op injectables to infect my surgical wounds so they’ll turn into vibrant colors.”

            “It’s not my company,” he hotly protested. “I would never...” He trailed off, gesturing vaguely in her direction with a seductive smirk. “I like imperfections in my women.”

            Caroline looked down at her GeneCo bio-suit. “Wait. What?” Blue eyes narrowed dangerously as she demanded, “What imperfections?”

            Backing up slightly with his hands raised in surrender, Klaus hurriedly replied, “No, not you. You look amazing. I mean, it’s not like you have powdered milk-fat curds for thighs or enormous ears or something.”

            This self-entitled asshat. He was known for being the most bloodthirsty of the Mikaelsons — rumor had it that he often negotiated favorable business terms by ripping out people’s organs. She absolutely should not provoke him.

            “Seriously?! Were you born this big of a dumbass or did you have to work at it?”

            The awkward pause stretched on for ages. Klaus’ dumbfounded expression eventually smoothed out, morphing into a silly grin as he guffawed. “According to my family, it’s a bit of both.” Fiddling with the settings on his neuro-ring, a panel materialized in the wall. Pressing it until a hidden door slid open, he held out his hand to Caroline, telling her, “Are you coming?”

            She chewed on her bottom lip, glancing back at the door to the supply pod. She knew what would happen if she went back out there. Surgery after surgery to carve away everything that made her her. 

            Going through a hidden door with one of the heirs to the ruthless corporation that controlled the world was a terrible idea. But it was worth the risk if she got to keep being her.   Caroline took Klaus’ hand and for the first time, allowed herself to hope for a better future.
