Ever since you got pregnant, Clark has been fussing about every little thing. Making your own food, nah, Clark can do that. Reaching something, nope. Not allowed, in this household. “Do you need a foot rub, love?” “Sit right down.” Its Every. Single. Day.

One night, about a month before your due date, Clark was catering your every need. And then some. He was practically running around the house, doing things that he thought you wanted. You were lounging on the bed, until you had enough and stood up. Clark saw and ran to your side holding you up. “What do you need? I can get it done for you, no problem.” He said, panicky and fidgety.

“Clark, all I need is you right now.” You replied. A soft sigh escaped the Kryptonian’s lips. You led him to the bed, laying on your side’s, facing each other.

“You are incredible, you know that?” Clark said, barely above a whisper. His hands, resting below your stomach, his eyes locked in on the baby inside of you.

“Says the Man of Steel.” You replied, hands cupping his face. Clark let out a soft chuckle. “That’s.. that’s just a job. But this..” He took a moment to pause, the sense of contentment washing over him. “This is my life. You, and this baby, is my life.” You were the one person, his soul was bared out to.

“Clark..” You breathily replied, smiling at the love of your life.

“You bear our child, and you.. hold life in your hands.” God, was he getting soft. But, that was okay. Because it was you, he was soft for. You lean in, kissing him. It was soft, and gentle. No lust, just love, the kind that makes you want to grow old together. The kind that you know, will be cemented for generations to come. You pulled away, your foreheads pressing against one another.

“You make me fall in love with you, over and over again.” You sighed out, feeling like goo. Maybe that was okay too, because he would hold you together. He always does.

“You are everything, this baby is everything.” Clark’s voice was mellow, the love in his eyes could not be mistaken for anything else. His smile faltered, just for a moment. But you didn’t miss it. Of course, you didn’t, it was you, after all.

“What’s bothering you?” A look of worry plagued your face. The concern, seeping in.

“It’s just.. I’m so nervous. What if I’m not a good enough father? What if I can’t balance being Superman, Clark Kent, and this baby’s father? I can’t bear the thought of letting you down. Of letting our child down. ” He looked down, he just couldn’t look at you, knowing that he was spiraling. You didn’t react the way he thought you would. He thought you would think he was questioning this decision, questioning them. You knew he wasn’t. That’s just not how her husband is.

“Clark Kent, you listen to me right now.” She tilted his head up, she needed to look at him when she said this. “You will be a great father. If you will be half the husband you are, as a father, you will be amazing. And even when you’re not, I am here. You will not raise this child alone, okay? We lean on each other, always. I will be your support, and you will be mine.” Her words shook his heart. More than she normally does. “If we make mistakes, we learn and we grow. Together. Always, together.” And with that, he melted.

“Thank you.. God, what would I do without you?” Clark let out that hazy laugh once more. “That’s what I’m here for.” Your half-lidded eyes, falling shut. “In every universe, in every other life, its you and me. Together.” Clark said, whispering sweet nothings into your ear, until you fell asleep.

And so, a month later, came a beautiful baby boy. He looked exactly like his father. Except for one thing. He had your eyes. A reminder, that this was your love incarnate. The little baby boy, was sleeping in his cot, when you and Clark finally had a moment of peace together. i feel like kk would fw mik-mik— it’s like, this sweetened powder that boomed mostly in the 1990s. once you tossed kk a pack, she ended up hooked on those little fuckers. she downs them like they’re crucial to her existence.

“kk.” you called, hands already working to untangle a long chain of the mikmik packets—tearing one off and tossing it to your girlfriend, who already had her head perked up like a very curious puppy that loved you to a degree that was concerning. she caught the packet, hands clasping around it as she blinked. “what’s this?” kk asked, despite already tearing open the packet.

“just eat it.” you ordered, simply. she blinked again, and then because you were her girlfriend and she practically worshipped the ground you walked on, she obeyed!

she dipped the powder into her mouth, letting it soak before her eyes widened in awe—as if she were a renaissance artist, discovering anime for the first time. she looked at the packet in awe, lips parted, and you broke into a grin.

“yo, get me some more of this!”

despite your culture not playing a significant part of the relationship, kk notably acknowledges and adores it as what makes you you—and so, one might say that she loves you even more—but she already loves you the most she physically can.

ok speaking in fanfic terms. jinmao as parents has so much fluff potential.

It's like, that one trope "when the parents didn't have that much of a good childhood but they strive to give their child a great upbringing" idk if it has a shorter name but lmk if it does

and don't take this out of context!! both Jinshi and Mao Mao 100% had people who cared (and still care) about them when they were children, but also:

you can't tell me this isn't the saddest thing ever (even though Mao Mao herself would disagree with my statement)

it makes sense, of course, courtesans in the pleasure district must prioritize their work to survive. still sad that Mao Mao (and well, probably most of the children born there) are always secondary to their job.

outside of this, theres also every moment when something went really wrong for mao mao because of how dangerous the red light district is (i sometimes forget that one of those moments have started the whole thing)

and oh, don't forget that her relationship with her biological parents is wrecked. Fengxian hated her. (Although i do like to believe that if things worked out and she didn't go insane then she'd love her daughter) And Lakan for sure loves Mao Mao, but she definitely can't say the same for him.

on Jinshi's side, things are obvious way, way better taking in the fact that he's a noble and of course always had people that would take care of him.

actually, his situation is similar to Mao Mao's in the sense that both of them had parents that weren't present / lacked involvement during their childhood.

And again!! I'm sure that Lakan & Ah-duo both would've loved to be more present during Mao Mao's & Jinshi's childhoods, but alas, they weren't able to due to the circumstances.

i guess it just something that comes with being born into the imperial family because (as it seems to me at least) people like Gaoshun, Basen and Suiren are more close to Jinshi than his actual family is.

so yeah. this is of course headcannons and all, but i rlly do believe that jinshi n mao mao as parents would really try and make their child's upbringing better than they had it themselves and that might be the sweetest trope ever js in general

slightly unrelated, but this got me thinking.. by the end of the LN, how will jinmao's relationship even end? dunno how much more volumes there's going to be, but im intrigued to see where it all eventually leads to. there is usually no romance tag tied to knh but these two's masochist's relationship is really the centerpiece of the show (for me at least)

back to earth gets a lot of hate compared to the rest of the show but i think theres something interesting to be said about the lack of laughing in it due to the lack of live audience

noticed this within the first scene between rimmer + lister in their sleeping quarters, it was the same kind of conversation theyd have at any other point with the same kind of comedic moments/quips between them & there were several moments where i can hear where they WOULDVE had some laughs from the audience, but there was just silence

& i just think its such a subtly interesting little insight into what life on the dwarf is actually like for THEM from THEIR perspectives, they dont find each other as hilarious as the rest of us do from the outside bc they generally just dont get along most of the time, they have no one other than each other for laughs or entertainment

lister & rimmer arguing or the cat being egotistical or literally any of the comedic interactions the live audience wouldve laughed at were just met with complete silence or frustration from the others, they cant see in from an outside perspective thats literally just the way they live alone with no one but each other for their entire lives

there it was, again. his grating voice. suguru hadn't shown how much you ignoring him truly affected him—at least, not yet. but you knew after a week already that he'd grown impatient. 

you were actually surprised he'd lasted as long as he had, though you guessed centuries alive—or rather, undead—had given him a better sense of patience. 

you huffed, rolling your eyes. they weren't as vivid as his deep purple ones which you could feel glaring at you from across the room. 

still, you didn't speak. 

he let out a deep sigh. even that sounded elegant—or petulant—and it irritated you further—the effortless grace suguru possessed from living lavishly for hundreds of years. 

“soon enough, my dear, you'll understand why i did what i did. i can't live without you-” 

you snorted. as if he were even alive in the first place. 

he took a second to speak again, his own irritation growing. 

“i know you're angry, but look on the bright side. you have the gift of immortality. your beauty—a timeless one—will live on forever. think of the lives you can live.” 

his voice had grown pleading as he approached you, his hands snaking up your arms.

“why would the lives I'm able to live now matter to me, if I'm forced to live them with you?” you bit out, pulling away from his suffocating grip. 

“i may have felt something for you before, but how could i possibly love you after what you've done? not just to me, but to the many people whose lives you've taken—just to sustain your own?”

you sucked in a deep breath before speaking again. 

“i don't want to become like that, like you. a monster.”

he took a while to respond. long enough you’d thought—hoped—that he'd left. but you knew he hadn't. 

he chuckled, a soft, dark sound that immediately set your spine straight. 

“too bad you don't have a choice anymore, darling.” suguru spoke softly, his tone sweet yet laced with the promise of violence.

suddenly, he was behind you, his arms wrapped around your waist, and his lips brushing against your ear as he whispered again.

“too bad i don't care about how you feel anymore. you're mine, my creation. and you'll grow to enjoy it.” 

his dark presence and the threat behind his words left you breathless, unable to move within his grip. 

“i'll see to that.”

A/N — Your honor, I love this ask. I've been imagining so many characters as girl dads lately, and Vox was certainly one of them. I feel like it's moreso implied angst at one point than actual angst — however, I hope you like these! I may come back in and add more if I think of more, but this is all I could think of with my tired brain lol.

Little Sunshine

Wildly protective, without a doubt.

If his daughter taped a paper tiara to his screen, he's wearing it all day (he sometimes forgets it's there — you know how many times he's worn a poorly colored paper tiara on live television? . . Often.)

He loves that she looks like her mother, but already thinks just like him.

Vox only dresses his little girl in the best, which is usually something Velvette made just for her.

He pretends to be upset when he finds her running around the penthouse with his stolen overcoat draped over her with the sleeves and coat tails dragging on the floor.

He really finds it adorable.

There's a hefty amount of people he doesn't trust to be in a room with his daughter. It's Hell, he doesn't really trust anyone.

Especially not with enemies who have tried to force his hand by using his only weakness — his precious little girl — as leverage.

All parties involved were promptly handled by a very angry, very protective father.

He insists on her being nearby all the time, needing to hear his daughter's giggles or see her sitting on the floor playing with a stuffed shark.

Speaking of sharks. He let her name his second shark, so now he has Vark and Spark (his name is really Sparkles, but he calls him Spark to everyone, unless she's around, then he's Sparkles.)

Generally cute and funny moments.

"Come on, sweetheart. . . Put the flour in the bowl." Then she flicked her wrist and sent half a cup of flour into his face.

She stood there for a few seconds and then turned to look at her dad, bursting into a fit of contagious giggles at the sight of him standing there, dumbfounded, with flour coating his front. "Oopsies."

He can't stay mad at her for anything, especially when she looks up at him with those big, pretty eyes and grabby hands.

She has his temper, so he sometimes finds himself standing toe to toe with this strong willed, opinionated toddler.

Anything she wants, she gets. It doesn't matter how big or small it is. Candy? He buys all her favorites. Toys? He gets all the new ones he knows she'd have interest in.

Just because he spoils her, doesn't mean she's undisciplined.

When she does something particularly bad, her punishment is spending a couple hours with Velvette (which isn't much of a punishment because mini Vox loves her auntie Vel).

He tries not to laugh when she argues with Valentino or makes some blunt comment that has the moth overlord on the edge of losing his shit.

The only think keeping Valentino from saying something he shouldn't, was the fact that Vox would end him if he even made so much as a single tear run down her cheek.

He reads her bedtime stories and stays with her until she falls asleep.

Sometimes he even dozes off next to her, her little head resting in the crook of his neck.

Stickers. Glitter. Gemstones. So. Much. Glitter. He purposely buys stuff without glitter, yet the penthouse always ends up with glitter covering some surfaces (he later finds out that she found Val's body glitter).

His daughter is the light of his afterlife. Something good in a realm of absolute shit.
