Naming a Star 命名一顆星

Seeing friends trying out new names for themselves (for alterhuman reasons) inspired me to finally put some thought into our star dragon's name. Aurelion Sol belong to the one dragon that went down to Targon. Despite being the same species, our star dragon operates differently, a sentient asteroids at time, a divine being at other. The vagueness of connection makes it harder to think of the star dragon individually without overpowering with our own dream element.

So we might as well stop fighting it.

Since Aurelion Sol is based on Latin, we decide to stick to that (it was rather tempting to jump towards Japanese, our heart language).

The name, after number of iteration, tossing in the theme of "star creator" to "starry dreamer" to "dream of star", with combination of latin words, and employing help to brainstorm, we came upon "Wandering Dream, Forming Stars". It is both what we are, and what the star dragon does. Ties in nicely to my shapeshifterness and our sense of creativity as well as the star dragon's own purpose.

"Dream" is a easy one, we took somnium from Latin and shortened it to somni.

"Star" is stella, and we shortened it to stel. We also plan to use this or Stellus as a nickname. It's got a nice ring to it.

Vago translates to "wander".

Forma is "to shape".

And thus, Somnivago Stelforma is our star dragon's name.

看到有朋友在試新名字(因為人另經歷的原因)，我也蠢蠢欲動的終於給我們自己的星龍給好��的想個名字。翱銳龍獸是屬於那個下到了巨石峰的龍的名字。儘管兩個是同樣的物種，我們的星龍運作得比較不同。有時他是有意識的行星，有時他是個有神性的存在。這種模糊的關係給我們在思索這只星龍的時候，我們得小心別讓我們自己的夢的性質給蓋過去了。

後來我們乾脆別跟我們的性質鬥了。

既然翱銳龍獸英文名字Aurelion Sol是從拉丁文來的，我們決定也跟著這麼做。(其實很想用我們的心靈語文，日文)

這名字在多次嘗試和考慮後，加入"宇宙創世者"、"夢星者"、"夢見星際"等主題，並一同使用拉丁文字眼跟透過幫助的構思，我們想到了"創星夢遊"。這是代表了我們做為夢龍的本質，也代表了我們星龍的所為。也跟我的化形者性質和我們的創造性勾搭的恰好，還有這也包括了星龍的本身的使命。

"夢"很簡單。我們把拉丁語裡的somnium縮寫成somni。

"星"是stella，我們縮寫成Stel。這個也是我們打算做為小名，或是Stellus。聽起來挺不錯的。

Vago翻成"漫遊"。

Forma是"形成"。

所以我們的星龍的名字就是Somnivago Stelforma。

There are so many timeskips within the flashback! My flow and pacing are wheezing!#I loved how this scene starts with the crowd's point of view. The observations and gossip add a lot.#And it helps reposition us to what the external perspective is on these two. Namely that 'they don't get along.'#Tensions are known! Even here in Nouveau Lotus Pier.#Ah...Lan Wangji never got a chance to see the Lotus Pier of Wei Wuxian's childhood and adolescence...did he?#It's not the same. He's not the same. Call them by the same name and people will know what you mean...#...but the first version - the one with the fond memories - is gone for good.#It's sort of interesting isn't it? How names can hold so much power and still be hollow?#We often get stuck over past versions of things. Be it ourselves or other people or places.#Change is scary but the truth is nothing ever stays the same. It's always moving. You're always moving.#It's okay to mourn the past.
