Good people of Vlandom...

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your kind words.

Because in real life it's not so easy... In real life I actually face a lot of criticism almost every day. For some reason, when people see you doing something you love, they feel threatened, and they have the need to bring you down. And since I love this project of mine so much, the critique is so much more harsh.

You wouldn't believe how harsh. Like for example when I showed them the image of Vlad on horse, I've met with the reaction of "Hm, nice, but I don't think the heraldry is right". From a person who knows nothing about heraldry. But who then spent half an hour googling if the Romanian eagle wouldn't have to have silver or gold claws. But no single further comment from them about the artistic skills nor the effort I've put into that piece.

And that's just one example of many. Basically every piece of art, writing or psychoanalysis I showed here met with this level of critique in real life (and that from people who don't have any credentials in those fields, too).

And so there are days when the critique is too much... Because I myself have often doubts about what I do, and if I really should continue. And when so many people start saying the same... Then comes a time when the doubts win.

To let you see what I mean, just two days before I got the news that CD bestowed on me the honour of working with them on an art project,

I nearly threw everything in the bin.

Like I was this close 🤏 to never write or draw or post anything about Dracula ever again, because the critique from people in real life finally was too much to bear.

So I wanted to thank you again. I want to let you know that your support does much more than what you may realise. That one like, that one kind comment, that hilarious reblog, those few minutes you took to talk to me, that one evening you made time to read my stories...

Those are the reason why I keep going.
