TITLE: Foul Play

PAIRING: Seungmin x f!reader
SUMMARY: A couple of weeks after hooking up with your professor's tutor Seungmin, the repercussions from that evening start to take its effect.
WC: 6716
PART 1 - Don't bite the hand that feeds you
MASTERLIST
TAGLIST: @princejisung @yakosobaboba 🩷
SPOILER TAGS BELOW THE CUT
swearing, unexpected pregnancy, suggestive content but not smut based at all.

“…hence why I am positive that you will all submit your assignments on time by this Friday. Extensions will only be granted should you provide damning evidence that you’re either dying or sick. Until then, I’ll see you on Wednesday,” the lecturer’s voice booms throughout her large class, filled to capacity.
‘Sick’ was a lesser form of a word to sum up how you had been feeling this entire week. The stress of navigating your studies began to douse the dwindling embers of motivation you had left in the tank to keep persevering towards the end of this semester. Yet, above all else, there was a looming nervousness in your stomach.
One that could only arise from the prospect of heading to your tutorial straight after your lecture. A tutorial taught by a person who you had learned to despise with the way he treats you - or at least treated you since the last class with him was to leave a permanent mark etched in your memory forever. Even thinking about it zaps you with an interesting feeling as you revisit what occurred on that desk he sits behind.
However, you haven’t been back since, but not because you didn’t want to. But because there had been no tutorials in the past two weeks, leaving you with some time to pick your energy back up and pull yourself over the line for the next upcoming load of work.
With a solid amount of time to head across campus and directly to the room, you took pride in adopting the pace of a snail and walking slowly. There was no need to rush and the impending awkwardness waiting for you to face didn’t need to arrive any sooner until it was time to actually be seated and ready for the two hour session.
As he usually is, Seungmin was inside first to greet his students that stroll through his door with a dry tone. His trendy black glasses sit perched on the bridge of his nose as he flicks through the pages of handouts, counting to make sure he has enough for the numbers in his class. Taking advantage of the fact that he was distracted, you find a group of students to tag behind so as to not walk in alone. That way he wouldn’t notice you as much, even though he very much did.
No eye contact, pretending as if he didn’t exist, trying to appear busy, and look as if you were in a hurry. All the signs you showed of trying to ignore him were so obvious that the corner of his mouth quirked up when he watched you sit down. His eyes remain on you completely, waiting for you to glance up at him even in the slightest. But you keep your cool from start to finish, throughout the entire duration of his tutorial that he stands up to run.
For the whole of the class however, you couldn’t help but wonder if he thought about the other week too. Did he reminisce on how he bent you over the desk he teaches from in front of his students? Did he think about how hasty he was in trying to rip your panties off to eat you out? Did he think about the fact that he wanted to fuck you?
Did he think twice about saying to you that he had waited a long time to do this…
“You can go now,” a voice calls out, making you jolt in your own seat. It was like waking up from a dream where you were falling from the sky, only you weren’t asleep and were very much awake with no sense of time that had passed.
You look up towards the sound of the person that so rudely uproots you from your own thoughts, Seungmin. The person you didn’t want to take notice of you or make eye contact with for fear that he was going to approach you. At that point you wished he would just go back to ignoring you rather than hear him speak directly to you.
“Right,” you reply, incredibly flustered while you scramble to grab your belongings and make haste to get to the door.
“Y/N,” Seungmin calls out.
Your stomach flips.
Similar to what it’s been like first thing in the morning every now and then. It’s patently obvious who he’s talking to as you try and rush out behind the herd of students that are eager to head home. You could’ve played it off as if you didn’t hear him, but the fact that you were planted to the ground before the doorframe gave away the fact that you did.
“Yeah?”
“This is yours,” he stands up from the desk and walks over with some papers in a clear file pocket, handing it over to you.
You look down at the title and the date printed on the first page. It was the assignment you so desperately needed him to check for weeks but never would for whatever stubborn reason. But that wasn’t the problem, given that the practice assignment he held was from over a week ago now had absolutely no relevance to you whatsoever. Because of him, you had to submit the work unchecked by a tutor which isn’t required per se, but lecturers have always stressed that it should be.
However, the level of his audacity to hand it back now shoved every fear of awkwardness you thought was going to happen from the past few hours, right out of your brain.
You scoff, snatching it rudely from his possession, “thanks. It would’ve been so much more useful had you marked it before I had to hand it in a week ago.”
“Just doing what I do best apparently,” Seungmin shrugs, completely unbothered by the venom in your voice.
“Which is also apparently your worst,” you sigh.
He raises his eyebrows as he watches you scrunch your assignment up and throw it in the bin beside the door, “I did tell you how stubborn you can be right?”
“Don’t recall that sorry.”
“Okay,” he responds sarcastically, rolling his eyes and just about laughing. “Suppose you don’t recall moaning out my name on that desk over there but here we are.”
Your cheeks heat up furiously, just as much as your anger starts to boil, “is that all you wanted to say?”
“If you’re not going to continue acting the way you are to me, then no, that’s not all I wanted to say. In fact I have a question for you,” Seungmin responds before pausing and looking past you towards the door frame. “But I might have to ask you about it next time.”
Standing underneath it was someone he hadn’t seen before. He’s not one of his students, nor is he the next tutor to come in and take over the room for a different course. It left one very obvious answer.
You pursue Seungmin’s eye line to see Felix smiling back at you, “sorry, usually we finish ten minutes early…”
“That’s okay,” he says kindly. “Just came to collect you. Lunch?”
The saving grace that Felix bestows allows you to leave Seungmin’s presence without another foul word to come out of his mouth. The pair of you walk to one of the many fields that the University has to offer to sit down and hang out together.
“What was he talking to you about?” Felix starts.
You lie back on the fresh grass, absorbing the rays of the warm sun that has the ability to make your eyelids droopy, “he gave me back my practice assignment for him to check that was due last week.”
“Really?” Felix replies, gobsmacked as he takes a bite out of his sandwich. “What an idiot.”
You roll your eyes just thinking about him, “very much so.”
“Why aren’t you eating?” Lix grumbles with a mouthful of food.
“Can’t,” you respond with a note of solemn in your voice. “Been pretty sick lately”
“What, like ‘throwing up’ type of ‘sick’?” He mumbles.
“That type of ‘sick’,” you confirm.
“Might be stress from Uni. Jeongin said the other day that he’s been unwell lately because of exams next week but I don’t think he’s been throwing up.”
“Seriously?” You ask, feeling a bit concerned when he tells you that bit of information. “Maybe it’s also food poisoning, but I don’t have any other symptoms that come with it.”
“Could be,” Felix responds then readies his soundproof advice. “What you need to do is go to the student health services for a doctor's appointment. Or even the student nurse. Because you don’t want to leave it to the last minute come crunch time for handing stuff in and you’re still ill.”
He had a point. You could already imagine what the final week of the first semester was going to be like. Just visualising the due dates for work, papers and essays that needed to be submitted is already putting a hamper on your mood.
For once however, you made your well being the first priority instead of the mountain of tasks you needed to complete. ‘University can wait, but your health cannot’ as Felix said who made sure you at least called into the chemist on your way back home to grab some medicine until you were able to get in and see a doctor. He would’ve forced you through their doors himself if he didn’t have a test to sit but nonetheless did his best by walking you nearby and heading off when he needed to.
Greeted by one of the chemists in the store, you begin to explain everything that’s happened over the past two weeks in regard to your body. The headaches, stress, nausea, the lot, all in the hopes to find some type of relief or remedy.
“And these symptoms have persisted for how long?” She asks.
“Just over a week now,” you reply.
“Okay, and are you currently pregnant or is there any chance you could be?” She questions while leading you down an aisle of medicine.
Before replying ‘no’ your mouth and brain stall at the same time. Pregnant? Is there a chance? No. There shouldn’t be. Yes you had sex two weeks ago, but there wasn’t in any way or any universe that you were currently carrying a child. There was no reason to go anywhere near along those lines of an assumption or put in any thought to it.
“Uh - I…no. Don’t think so,” you stammer.
The chemist eyes you for a second, trying to gauge her best answer from you and picks up a small packaged bottle, “this is safe to use even if you are pregnant since the prescribed millilitres are the same for that of someone who isn’t. We get a lot of students coming in around this time with the same issues when it’s close to the end of the semester so there could be a number of things going on.”
“I’d imagine,” you respond. “Thank you for this, I’ll have another browse for some other things and come back soon.”
She smiles back as you depart from the aisle with the medicine in hand. From there, it’s impossible not to start freaking out. Your mind speeds through so many different avenues and possibilities of why you were sick. The very one that springs up is pregnancy. It was torment enough that you had to pull out your phone and google its symptoms. There can’t be any way.
Nausea and vomiting that usually occur in mornings,
Missed period,
Fatigue,
Headaches…
The list was short but nonetheless went on to describe everything that you had been dealing with for the past two weeks. It had to be a coincidence. Maybe it’s something else that you might have like these other students who’ve been dealing with the same thing? It’s just the stress. Only the stress. Yet, you find yourself reaching for a pregnancy test from the shelf and bringing it back with you in the hopes that the money you’re about to spend is going to give you a negative result when you return to your dorm.
The chemist says nothing else to you as you make your purchases which you appreciate. The last thing you need right now is for someone to say ‘all the best’ or ‘must’ve been a good time,’ whenever they look at someone buying a pregnancy test. You just wanted to go home and rule everything out straight away so the nerves could stop eating you alive.
As you walked back to the student accommodation, it felt like you were wearing a clown mask and everyone was looking at you. Even though you didn’t know that they didn’t take any notice of you whatsoever, that’s what it felt like.
Straight through the doors to the building you go and right to your floor. You key in your code to get into your room and shut the door behind you. Finally you were able to feel like you could breathe a little better, just before the four walls enclosing you began caving in.
Everything seemed hazy and uncertain as the question of whether you are pregnant kept popping up in your head. What would happen then? There was no plan other than to finish the year and graduate with your degree, go on to work and hopefully live a fulfilling life with kids somewhere along the way - not now. Not even in the next three years was that an option.
But out of all the mangled and mixed thoughts that have sent your brain on a spin, not once did you ever think of the culprit who without, wouldn’t have you currently spiralling into an abyss of anxiety.
Fucking Seungmin.
Even when he’s not here he’s still an insufferable asshole that has landed you in this position. If you are pregnant, you know it’s him. There wasn’t anyone else you had slept with in the past four months other than him. It made matters even worse tenfold - the fact that he’s practically a stranger to you. All you know is his name and how shitty of an attitude he has.
But that wasn’t something you could afford to think about. Not right now. Giving yourself one thing else extra to worry about would make you feel even more sick. All you needed to do was get through this pregnancy test and figure out the rest later.
After making sure you were well hydrated, you waited for the right time to use the bathroom and the test. You made absolutely sure to follow every single instruction on the box so as to not produce an inconclusive result. There was no room to make a mistake at the moment.
For fifteen minutes you abandon the test on the counter of your bathroom, trying to distract yourself with something else. Within that space of time, Felix sent through a couple of messages to check in on you, an indication that he had also finished his in-class tests.
From Lix: did you manage to get anything? I’ll bring over some wonton noodle soup for dinner later and some other stuff. You need to eat.
From Lix: AND HYDRATE keep filling your water bottle up and drink as much as you can. I can get some electrolytes drinks off of Changbin. He won’t mind, he has too much of it anyway.
You smile down at your phone. Life would be miserable without Felix. You don’t only appreciate him because he’ll go out of his way to do things for you, but you appreciate him because he’s such a good friend. Never is there a dull moment, no bitterness, no jealousy. It’s a peaceful and sometimes chaotic friendship that you cherish whenever you can.
Mulling over your connection with him wasn’t going to kidnap you from reality however, as the pregnancy test remains on the counter, waiting for you to step over and check the results.
Your heart is in your throat, pounding and begging to jump right out. Whatever those lines read on the pregnancy stick didn’t fail to make you feel any more nervous than you already were prior. Almost like it just kept getting worse. At that moment, you thought about ringing Felix or texting him to see if he could help.
You’ve seen videos of women who’ve taken pregnancy tests in the presence of their friends for support. There was nothing else you wanted more other than that. Just to have someone nearby if the worst approaches. Yet, at the same time, you never reached for your phone to contact him. Instead, you reach for that plastic stick on the counter. A small yet seemingly significant item that had the potential to change your entire life.
With one large breath in and out, you lean over to the surface to see two clear blue lines present on the stick.
There was no fucking way.
You snatch the test immediately. Holding it up to the bathroom light to make sure you weren’t seeing things, then holding it away to see it again. To double check once more, you swipe the instructions from the box to see whether or not two blue lines were an affirmative pregnancy or a negative test.
But, to your disbelief, shock, and defeat, there was no other result other than a positive reading.
Everything comes crashing down. You can even hear it on top of your own racing heartbeat in your ears. The tips of your fingers go numb when you bring them up for your hand to cover your mouth. The millions of questions firing throughout every corner of your brain cannot be slowed for the faultless truth to be right there in front of you.
It explains every symptom you’ve had to date for the past couple of weeks that you had foolishly mistaken for immense stress. As of now, it was impossible to articulate a clear thought. What are your options? What will you do? Who do you even tell? When it comes to the latter, the first person that pops into view is the same one who landed you in this predicament, and to think that you’re carrying his child.
It’s not hard for you to retrace back to the afternoon where it all unfolded. The afternoon where you can now unfortunately say was the date of conception, wishing that it never happened. All of it sends a very strong reminder of how fucked everything now appears to be. As you struggle to come to terms with a new future, one that requires careful and cautious thoughts, you keep the secret to yourself for the time being, unable to even bring yourself to tell Felix who would grow sceptical of you not responding to his texts. You couldn’t answer him when he said he wanted to bring dinner around for fear that he would automatically sniff out that you’re not acting your usual self.
The Monday that followed, Felix texted you to see if you were okay and if you needed him to drop anything around. Tuesday came around for him to remind you to keep drinking as much water and eat if you were able to stomach food. When Wednesday dawned, Felix never received a reply back from you when he asked if you wanted to have a talk. Thursday then arrived, as he held himself back from contacting you entirely, but wasn’t offended by the fact that you weren’t responding to his messages.
Friday then approached where Felix found that it was absolutely necessary to actually pay you a visit. The buildup of texts and missed calls he sent you were almost a sign for a welfare check. Although, he didn’t want to jump ahead that far despite his suspicions about your strange and absent behaviour.
The first location where he was hoping to catch you was at student accommodation, where he was to stand for a few minutes at your door, knocking to see if you were there. After checking the time on his phone, he realised that you were probably in your tutorial, so bolted over to the other side of the campus, and waited patiently outside.
Rustling and chatter sounded from behind the door before students began pouring out into the corridor once it had ended. Each unfamiliar face that caught his eye led him to more disappointment to find that you’re not there. He steps across the threshold of the classroom to see empty tables, chairs, and desks, all except for the one up the front that was occupied by the tutor. The same person Felix saw last week when he came to get you for lunch. The same person you told him about who you despised greatly.
If only he knew the latest reason why you hated him so much.
Seungmin’s pen stalls over the pages of student assignments that he was marking, looking at Felix with curiosity, “can I help you?”
“Just looking for someone,” Felix answers. “Thought they were here.”
“Y/N, you mean?” Seungmin assumes straight away.
“Yeah.”
“I take it she’s your friend?” He asks.
“Yes,” Felix answered, thinking about how that’s a strange question to ask. “Did she leave already?”
“Leave?” He retorts. “She needs to show up first in order to leave. I haven’t seen her this entire week.”
Felix gives him the benefit of the doubt for being a conceited asshole and not knowing your circumstances at the moment. But he’s in no place to tell him anything. Either way, the fact that he now knows you had been missing from tutorials and most likely lectures too, wasn’t good news.
“Know when she’s coming back?” Seungmin questions.
Felix sighs, his eyes squaring up the man across from him, “not really, no.”
“Well, if you could try to get a hold of her that would be good. Some of her professors have sent emails to her and copied me into them since attendance for lectures and tutorials are compulsory and count towards her grade.”
Felix sighs and nods, appearing so suddenly distant while he thinks about something. Whatever it was, Seungmin was able to observe his reaction, sensing a tinge of worry from the person in front of him. He wouldn’t have stepped foot in his class if he didn’t have a reason to look for you which made him more curious.
“I’ll let her know,” Felix replies and retraces his steps back outside the faculty and into the courtyard.
From an objective perspective, for someone who has seemed to have dropped off the grid is a massive cause for concern. As your best friend, Felix can’t overlook it. Immediately his mind starts zapping to different conclusions without thinking rationally at all. What if someone had hurt you - is hurting you? What if you were dead and had been for a while?
There was no harm in trying your dorm one more time just in case, regardless of how suspicious he looked to the receptionist at student accommodation when he walked past once more to your room. For a minute straight, Felix knocks on your door, unbothered by the students that popped their heads out of their rooms to see what all the commotion was about. To them it was almost as if Felix was trying to break into your dorm and to save himself from potentially being reported or chucked out, you open the door, grab onto his arm to yank him inside.
“Geez why didn’t you open the door like a minute ago?” Felix questions when he realises that he’s now standing in your room . “I’ve been…I’ve been trying to contact you for a week - I was starting to think you were dead!”
“Close to it,” you respond.
The silence without all of Felix’s knocking is palpable. The pair of you stand quietly as he tries to think about where to start.
“You know, you really freaked me out when you stopped replying to me the other week. Are you still feeling ill?”
The guilt plummets on top of your shoulders so suddenly, “I know. I’m sorry for being flaky, and yes occasionally I am.”
“And?” He continues, standing there as if he were waiting for a presentation from you on your diagnosis. “Anything contagious? Still throwing up? Losing your vision? Infected? Did someone bite you and now you’ve only got twenty four hours until you turn into a zombie-“
“This isn’t The Last of Us, Lix,” you sigh. “Also you need to stop playing that game too.”
“What? The plot’s fuckin’ sick,” he emphasises, happily taking a seat on the edge of your bed. “Alright, if you’re not any of that, what are you? What did the chemist reckon?”
“She said there are a lot of students who are sick at the moment - stress from exams and stuff like that.”
Felix smiles and sighs with relief for you, “that’s good then, right? It’s not anything complex, all you have to do is take care of yourself properly. Which I’m trying to assume that you have been doing, right?”
You didn’t have the energy to play games with him at the moment. All of it has been depleted by putting thought into your options about this pregnancy which still remains an unknown aspect to Felix about your current absence. That and the morning sickness which has been kicking your ass every day and trying to keep up with coursework from a distance. You already feel terrible for not being able to show up to class and tutorials.
“I’ve been getting as much rest as I can,” you assure him.
“Good. Have you seen-”
“I have not seen the doctor yet Felix,” you interrupt, already knowing what his question was going to be. “All I know is that I will at some stage. I have medicine, food and water, I’m covered.”
He heaves a great sigh, “I saw that tutor of yours by the way.”
Your stomach sinks.
“What do you mean?”
“I went to go check if you were in your tutorial and he said you hadn’t been since last week,” he answers. “I know what you mean when you say that he’s a dickhead. He talks to you as if he owns the fuckin’ world.”
You nearly laugh. It had been a while since you last felt that airy, humorous sensation in your stomach, “yeah. He’s a nasty piece of work.”
The same nasty piece of work that put a baby in you, which thinking that thought deflates your entire morale and brings you right back down to earth once more. Felix observantly picks up on the sudden shift in atmosphere, like he’s watching the rawest version of yourself unravel.
“What’s wrong Y/N?” Felix questions you softly, almost as if he can see through that thin exterior of a wall you’re trying to build between you and him to keep him from finding out the truth.
“Yes I’ve been sick lately, but not because of stress or anything like that,” you give a wave of dismissal.
“Let me guess, you’re pregnant,” he says jokingly with an innocent grin and light laugh.
That grin quickly falls off his face when he sees how serious and unmoving your expression is. For a moment or two, Felix doesn’t say anything. Instead, he grapples with the possibility that you, despite not confirming with him yet, that it isn’t actually a joke.
“You - you are pregnant…”
“I found out the other day,” you finally break the news to him. “Hence why I’ve been sort of…distant.”
“That’s…”
It was a surprise to you that Felix stayed this long. You weren’t expecting him to remain in the same room as you for more than three minutes after telling him what the real situation is. All those horrendous stories you had heard of mothers-to-be getting shunned by their family or friends for being pregnant had done a serious number on you. It was impossible to think of anything more lonely.
Unaware of the fact that you were holding your breath, you sigh immensely.
Felix doesn’t say another word. He stands up from your bed and opens his arms to embrace your body, “that’s amazing Y/N - you couldn’t have told me any sooner?”
You stiffen, suddenly doused in cold shock when you realise that this situation could’ve been flipped on its head, “I-I was trying to figure things out. But…I don’t know if I wanted to…”
He pulls you away gently, “don’t know if this is the right option for you right now?”
Felix always knows what to say in every situation.
“That.”
“Well, whatever you choose, you still have me to support you right?” He reminds you. “How are you really feeling about it?”
“Conflicted,” you sum up quickly. “I don’t know how many pregnancy forums I’ve joined to talk to women who’ve had unexpected pregnancies and watched billions of videos of babies learning to walk and all that stuff.”
“What have those women said?”
“They said it was hard to make a decision based on their circumstances or beliefs at the time, but the one thing they mentioned that they all had in common, is that none of them regretted their decision to continue full term to pregnancy,” you explain.
Felix doesn’t obviously know firsthand, but he can empathise. He knows why people want children, and why others don’t. In this day and age especially since living has turned into surviving instead. It’s difficult to rent, to buy food, to pay bills - and that’s all for one person.
To have someone who is dependent on you in every capacity is a lifelong thankless job. It’s then when something else strikes Felix’s curiosity as he goes to ask you another question.
“Who’s the father?”
“It…doesn’t matter, the point is that I’m pregnant and even though I can change that fact, I won’t.”
Felix doesn’t ask you about it again, not even two weeks after exam week ends and the study break starts. Unfortunately for some students such as yourself, required catch up tutorials to make up for a percentage of their grades that they missed out on from being absent. Unlike some, your excuse was extremely valid. But it was only twice a week. Something very manageable and a good method of distracting your mind from reality for a little bit.
Another pluside is that a different tutor was running the classes, making you feel so much more at ease that it wasn’t Seungmin - but only until it was. Only until one class where he shows up five minutes later after the tutorial was meant to commence. It sent you spiralling into a hole of panic.
You’re suddenly reminded that it’s been one whole month since you found out you were pregnant and suddenly, everything becomes very real again.
“Apologies, I was told to come in this morning because one of your tutors had an emergency,” he announced to the fifteen people sitting inside the class. “I won’t take up too much of your time today. We just have some information to get through and that’s it.”
Thank god. One more second spent in his proximity feels like a year being taken off your lifespan. But Seungmin wastes no time in getting things sorted for everyone such as handing out some slides he printed off for everyone to examine. As he crosses over to you, it is in your best interest not to appear suspicious such as not making eye contact with him. That didn’t work out for you last time and only drew more attention to yourself.
“Thanks,” you reply as he places the sheets down in front of you.
“No worries.”
He returns back to the front of the class and begins explaining the tasks for the session, all of which were relatively easy and mainly involved reading with a couple of multi choice questions. It took around twenty minutes to complete, and by then you were up out of your seat and ready to hand your answers and papers in. You follow some of the students towards the door, passing Seungmin on their way by. Hoping to not have another awkward encounter with him, you set your focus on just leaving as fast as you could.
“I met your friend the other week,” Seungmin says to you, standing by the door as you attempt to head out.
You briefly stall in place, intrigued as to why he would suddenly bring that up, “which one?”
“Brown hair, heaps of freckles,” he answers. Felix. “He was worried when I told him that you hadn’t been showing up to classes.”
“Right,” you respond awkwardly. All of that’s in the past now considering what your future is.
“Anyway, I guess you have me to thank for getting you into these catchup classes,” he sighs.
Your eyebrows knit together, “what?”
Seungmin nods and hums, “you didn’t get the emails your Professors sent you?”
Emails? You had other things to worry about and other uses for the internet that were far more preoccupying than whatever it was your Professors had to say.
“I wasn’t able to check them,” you tell him.
“Right,” he adds before changing the topic. “Also, the other week, I was meant to ask you a question before you left.”
By the tone of his voice, you had an inkling as to where this was going. He had already talked to you about Uni, and there’s nothing else either of you have in common, so the other thing you could possibly think of was-
“Were you skipping classes because we slept together?”
There it was.
If you weren’t carrying his child right now, you would’ve said no because the sex was good, really good that you couldn’t deny the fact. Not even to him. But it wasn’t necessarily the entire reason that triggered your absence for an entire week.
“Not in the way you might think,” you say to him.
His eyes train onto you, trying to unravel the hidden meaning behind your words, “what do you mean by that?”
You could just come out and say it. The door is right there, providing a speedy getaway to just drop the news and bolt. Then again, you had to think of whether it was mature or not to do that. Yes, Seungmin got you pregnant but the decision afterwards to keep the baby, in the eyes of some, refutes all of that and could bring back his right to know about it.
Again, it was all too conflicting and required more thought about it. But you also had to be realistic. One month into pregnancy isn’t a long time, but it also isn’t short. Every day for the next eight months would need to be spent carefully. Spending too much time worrying about what Seungmin will think surely will do more harm than good when you need to focus your time and energy on yourself.
Then again, what is there to lose right now? What harm is there being done to you by telling him? When those thoughts make it past your thinking process, it makes it easier to export the truth.
“I didn’t go to my classes not because I was avoiding you for that particular reason, since I don’t actually regret having sex with you.”
Seungmin’s interest spikes, “what other reason is there then?”
You sigh heavily and suck it up, “I didn’t go to my classes because I wanted to avoid you for the fact that I’m pregnant.”
As if someone just tipped a cold bucket of water over Seungmin’s head, a tether of shock twists tightly inside his upper body. Almost as if his heart stopped beating for a few seconds. You haven’t seen very many emotions on his face and a blank yet shocked expression was now one of them.
Seungmin reaches up to his glasses and takes them off, “pregnant? As in…you’re pregnant?”
You look around the empty classroom to help prove a point, “who else?”
He pauses while his brain recalibrates, “I caught onto that when you said you were, I’m just trying to-“
“Don’t say ‘figure out ‘how’ because you know exactly ‘how’ it works,” you cut him off before taking a deep breath and exhaling as calmly as you can. “I’m telling you this because I felt that you were obligated to know. I don’t want you to or expect you to do or saying anything-“
“Are you saying I got you pregnant,” he interrupts you this time.
“Yes,” you answer clearly, realising that it was a crucial piece to the puzzle that Seungmin was trying to stitch all together which you hadn’t clearly mentioned. “I haven’t slept with anyone else for months before you.”
It was a lot to consider, as you predicted. It’s not every day do you get to announce that you’re pregnant and in the most unconventional way possible. Again however, you expected nothing less and expected nothing in return from Seungmin.
“What are your thoughts?” He asks you. “What do you want to do?”
Surprised was less of a word to describe how taken aback you were by his words as you feel your eyebrows raise on their own. It was a slight relief to hear someone ask you for your own opinion about the journey ahead of you.
“I’m seeing this to the end,” you answer honestly. “I’m not asking you to do anything for me, in fact I wouldn’t mind if you forgot about this all even though it’d be hard. But I know that you’re obligated to know this.”
He gives a silent nod, “how long have you known?”
“Just over a month now,” you reply. “I honestly didn’t want to tell you. I was planning on keeping it a secret from you entirely.”
Seungmin’s eyes narrow right at you, as if he couldn’t believe what you just said, “and what, become a single parent?”
“Yeah, I guess,” you shrug.
“Without me?” He looks up.
You stare right back at him in an equal amount of shock, “Seungmin to be quite honest, I don’t even know you. We hooked up once and that was it.”
“I know that,” he ignores that very important factor. “But do you think I’m abstained from the responsibility that holds when I could’ve just - just-“
“Pulled out?” You cut him off, watching the concern on his face remain in place. “Guess it’s also my fault for telling you I was into it.”
“Again, that’s besides the point. Can you at least let me help you?” Seungmin pleads. “We don’t necessarily have to get along. We could co-parent.”
It was the first emotion of desperation that you’ve ever seen him wear. Almost like he was borderline terrified. You didn’t suspect that he had any underlying malicious motives, like one of those crazy co-parents who help you out at first then try and take custody of the baby in the future - claiming that they were present throughout their childhood just to seek some type of revenge.
That’s how far ahead you were thinking, showing that you were afraid too.
“Are you implying that we should try to make this work?” You clarify with him.
“I’m not implying it, I’m asking it,” he emphasises. “Sure we don’t know each other, but we could…at least try?”
“You don’t sound so sure of yourself.”
“Well I’m sorry for not being well versed in the parenting realm since I’ve never had a child before, but it was the first option that came to mind,” he says. “Have you told anyone else?”
You nod, “just my friend, the one you met.”
He exhales, still swimming in his own thoughts on the facts that he got you pregnant and is now potentially about to be a father. That part was still in the air. However, it was an irrefutable fact that his maturity really shone through. For the first time, you saw him hop off his high horse and set aside his largely inflated ego. He actually seemed to be pretty rational.
“Have a think about it,” Seungmin tells you. “I’d understand either way whatever you decide. I won’t pressure you into anything you don’t want to do.”

AND THE THING ABOUT OLIVER AND BOUNDARIES!
Is so obvious to me that his parents were party at fault for his lack of boundaries. Not because they we're malicious and intentional about it, but because they loved him so much they tend to cross his limits.
(Kinda like what Oliver did with Felix, but less obsessive).
From my experience it's something relatively normal about the relationship between parents and their children. The first time we really understand boundaries is when we enforce them to separate ourselves from our parents expectations. It seems to me that Oliver never learned how to do that. He's constantly molding himself to appease and appeal, and when it becomes to much, he flees.
Let's go back to the little things Paula and Jeff share with us in that brief birthday scene.
"He always wanted to be an only child, always beetling off by himself"
"He was so clever, that's why he found it hard to make friends, they were jealous".
"It's been hard not seeing him. But it must be a lot of pressure being the top scholar and being in the rowing team, and the union, and the plays..."
Let's start with the lies.
How long ago Oliver started lying to his parents to make space for himself?
Cause the lies don't necessarily feel like something he used to impress them. It seems to me like the Quicks already thought Oliver was exceptionally smart "he was always so clever" and he's just keeping appearances.
But the amount of things he said he did. The plays, the rowing team, the union, the work of studying to maintain the "top scholar position" like reading, doing work and essays and projects, assisting to classes, lectures and tutorials, it's a lot!.
"It's been hard not seeing him". How many times Paula called just to be ignored or quickly dismissed? with an excuse like "sorry i have an essay due tomorrow" or "im going to practice for the play". And why Oliver wanted to separate himself so much from his family?
"He always wanted to be an only child, always beetling off by himself" why would Oliver wanted to separate himself not only from his parents but his siblings too?
The Quicks said that "We go to to Mykonos every year. Well, not anymore. Not now that the kids are all grown up". That makes me think that Oliver sisters are older than him. Oliver doesn't seem to have a close relationship with them either. Was it because of the age gap? How much older were her sisters? Maybe they had to babysit and that created a second-mother kind of dynamic?
It sounds like he was being smothered by them. And again, i'm not saying it was intentional, but maybe Oliver needed much more space that what the Quicks were able or willing to give. And he didn't know how to ask.
And maybe (only maybe cause i don't really have good foundation for this) Oliver learned that the best way to get space from them was saying he was occupied, specifically studying. So maybe it started at school, him saying that he had to finish homework or read a book or do project, and maybe these were the only times he'll be left alone. Maybe that was the perfect excuse to explain why he didn't have many friends too.
(and i wonder why a kid with no sense of boundaries would have a hard time making friends 👀)
And why Oliver keeps lying?
After moving to Oxford, he could've just draw back and create that space without making an excuse. But he didn't, because he cares, he likes that his family thinks he's intelligent and capable. But he doesn't care for spending time with them.
I don't think he said all those lies to look especially intresting or important, but he did choose to "be occupied" by being a good student. Not in a "i won an award for best performance" but a "I'm too busy to talk, i have tutorial"
And look at the way the Quicks react to Oliver saying he has to go, is very interesting.
Paula just gives up instantly. She offers a compromise, and when rejected she's obviously frustrated but she just lets it go. On the other hand Jeff tries to reason with his son a little "your mother spent all morning doing lunch" but they seem very accustomed to this situation. It's not the first time Oliver escapes a conversation.
So, to me, is obvious that Oliver's parents knowingly or unknowingly contributed to Oliver's lack of healthy boundaries.
He never really draw the line with them, he just made excuses to avoid and elude and ultimately flee when the situation got out of hand. And they never picked up on it, they kept repeating the same scenarios multiple times without having a conversation about it.
I feel like his parents never really confronted him about anything. Maybe because they didn't sense anything was wrong, maybe because, same as the Cattons, they didn't know how to approach the situation or maybe because they know Oliver gets really fcking upset whenever they tried to have a conversation about it, who knows.
So at the end we have a 20yo dude who never learned how to enforce a boundary or why is healthy to have them and has absolutely no idea how to perceive and not cross others limits.
#Idk#Oliver's parents fascinate me#his whole family actually#why is Oliver the way he is?#if his family is so normal#(is the undiagnosed bpd)#the magical thing about families is that they don't need to be hostile towards eachother to develop unhealthy dynamics#sometimes the simple fact that their ways of communicating don't match is enough to create trauma and hurtful cycles#Oliver go to therapy i beg you please im on my knees go to therapy ily please#oliver quick#saltburn#felix catton

I follow you on twitter & all I gotta say is, I love the diversity in your drawings so much, I hate when people make girls all stereotypes & your art makes me feel so comfortable it’s like a warm feeling not to mention your nsfw art. It doesn’t just show the list it shows the love & affection each character has for eachother it shows how intimate & hot the moment can be but also sweet? I’m not sure I love your art too much it really makes my day to see it, but any tips on anatomy?♥️
thank you so much!! i totally get what you mean by a list, that really is what diversity can feel like sometimes. my weight and figure have fluctuated so much over the years and i've gotten enough shit from family about eating habits and how chubby i've gotten, to the point of dysmorphia, and turning to art (and not to mention seeing the vast majority of fat butch rep) to remedy it has done wonders for my body image, and i'm really glad people like how i do things.
in terms of tips, as someone who went to school for this sorta thing, i'm gonna try to make this as accessible as possible aka free resources.
timed figure drawing!
legit, you gotta draw naked people posed in intricate ways. there's literally no avoiding it, you have to draw from life and not from tutorials. obv, i'm not saying go out and attend a life drawing course -- that's expensive shit -- so here's a few options:
i use a site called quickposes, since most figure drawing galleries require subscriptions.
you can set a timer for how long you want on each pose/reference. i recommend challenging yourself with shorter times as it helps you to get rid of any hang-ups about getting the anatomy exactly right. the drawing's got to get done by the end of the timer, don't focus on the details. just draw, be done with it, move on to the next drawing.
there's also a youtube channel that we'd use in class when a model couldn't show called new masters academy and they have a bunch of timed daily drawing exercises.
as a general rule, don't lean on the amount of time you have. what you're wanting to do is get a FULL PICTURE on your paper as soon as possible, regardless of a long or short time. get the full figure onto the paper then use the rest of the time to fuss over details, shading, editing, etc.
do studies!
kinda similar to the last one but in the more time-consuming sense.
use pinterest. it has a lot of uses for a lot of things but i use it quite a bit for both anatomy refs and costume design inspiration. this is legit what my home page looks like now because of it.
here's a board i made on anatomy, pulling from different body types; obviously i get a little gay wid it, but there's a verrrryyyy clear lack of certain body types in a lot of body refs like muscular women, fat women, just overall people who higher fat content than the lean, almost 0% fat of the figures seen in most tutorials and galleries:
this is where pinterest really shines because you can find literally everything on it.
in particular, there's an account called character design references, that is basically a stockpile of references for artists. i wouldn't normally recommend artist tutorials when it comes to wanting to learn anatomy because it can get a little echo-chambery (side-eyes the male vs. female tutorials that float around on twitter all the time) but there are actually some boards that have genuine studies on the human form, even from a medical point of view.
LITERALLY JUST DRAW A LOT.
I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH IT'S GONNA TAKE A LOT OF TIME AND PRACTICE TO GET TO A CERTAIN LEVEL OF SATISFACTION.
like that's it, full stop, draw often. if you're feeling rusty, go back to basics. if you're art blocked, go back to basics. if you're bored, go back to basics.
#ask#anatomy#anatomy tips#talkies#drawing should be about having fun first and foremost#i find figure drawing fun because of how quickly it gets done#art advice

20 fics tag
Okay so I found this in my drafts and it's like. 2 years old at least?? I think I filled it out and then couldn't think of anyone to tag so I never posted 😭 anyway!! This is extremely out of date but:
@succubusphan tagged me, thank u yani
Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favourite opening line. Then tag 10 of your favourite authors!
1. Somebody to Love: Dan’s train was running late, and he couldn’t stop his anxiety from running absolutely wild.
2. Starlight: “We should go stargazing,” Phil said one morning over breakfast.
3. 5 times Dan and Fiona were not dating (and one time they were): Dan didn’t know how to play poker.
4. Is it serious?: It was after another party.
5. who you are: It wasn’t as hard to find as Rey expected it to be.
6. Friends with (Tax) Benefits: “Let’s get married,” Phil said.
7. I’m just curious: Of course Dani would be here.
8. i AIM 2 b w/ u: Dan glanced at the time.
9. Celebrity Dating Life Hacks: “So, dating as a celebrity,” the interviewer said, and Phil froze. “That must be hard.”
10. Soft Things: They kept an awkward amount of distance between them on the walk from the bus station to Phil’s parents’ house.
11. no grave can hold my body down (i’ll crawl home to her): Dani wasn’t always the most reliable, but going missing for two weeks straight wasn’t in character.
12. family reuinions and hurt feelings: Dan was never going to offer to host something again, at least not if it involved any sort of human interaction on his part.
13. Night In: Dan’s nail polish was chipped.
14. Electrify my Heart: College was hard, Dan decided, and his classes hadn’t even started yet.
15. True Loaf: “And you’re getting the cake?” Dan had asked.
16. hole in my ear (and my heart): Dan’s mom cried every time Dan talked about getting his ears pierced, and his dad was even worse.
17. Roses are Red: Buying his crush a rose for Valentine’s Day really shouldn’t have been so hard.
18. Love is Blind: Phil had some bad habits, he’d admit.
19. a paper cutout of a life: Dan didn’t mean to.
20. forever is in your eyes: “We should have followed a Bob Ross tutorial,” Phil muttered, swiping at his paper.
I guess what we’ve learned from this is I like to start my PRB fics with Phil saying something random. And that I haven’t posted fic in ages, rip. Lots of just jumping to the middle of things, which makes sense since most of my fics are short.
2 years later I am still not sure who to tag so I am tagging whoever wants to do this. Yes you. Do it.

ive never really gotten involved with cosplay discourse bc most of it is stupid but apparently sone people have been talking abt bought cosplays vs homemade cosplays and as a maker my head is full of thoughts. keep in mind that ive heard everything secondhand from my roommate (who also cosplays) bc i dont really use other social media (we have a joint cosplay insta i post on sometimes but they do everything else there).
ive been making my own cosplays since i was like 11 or 12, and im lucky enough to have had a mom who knows how to sew and could teach and help me those first few years. my dad is a nerd who was excited when i started cosplaying and going to cons with him and he's always has helped me with props. again, i know im lucky for this, and i had a pretty easy in to the hobby. this is all really just for context for my side here.
cosplay had a bit of a popularity boom over lockdown, because it was a way people could have fun at home, and that's great!! i love seeing people getting into things i love!! especially after being made fun of for it as a teen. but since then, ive noticed that the vast majority of new cosplayers are buying their costumes — and before i go further, i want to emphasize that i do not judge on an individual level whether or not youve made your cosplay, and nobody should. everybody's situation is different and it's important to remember the play part of cosplay. its supposed to be fun — and honestly that's really sad to me. what's even sadder is the amount of people saying things like 'everyone who makes their cosplays are rich' (i am absolutely fucking not, im currently unemployed bc im disabled) or 'if you make your cosplay youre not a cosplayer, youre a cosmaker' (this one doesnt even make sense. why are you alienating the creators of the entire hobby).
i get completely that its an intimidating thing to get into. making cosplays isnt just sewing. its also hair/wig styling, makeup artistry, foamwork, propmaking, etc... the list can really goes on bc it truly can be anything. resin casting, embroidery, beading... it all depends on what youre doing and how you want to do it. and im not saying it isnt a money- and timesink, because obviously you have to invest both of these things into it. but it doesnt have to be all fancy sewing machines and expensive fabrics!
did you know you can sometimes rent sewing machines from libraries? if theres a makerspace near you, thats a fantastic resource (they usually have things like sewing machines and 3d printers, and they usually host classes where you can learn to use their equipment)! youre even likely to find sewing machines at thrift stores! and speaking of thrift stores, bedsheets and curtains make great fabric sources, and if youre lucky you can find a piece you can alter or even just wear as part of the costume! and theres tons of tutorials and resources online for just about everything, even for specific costumes. there are also some good online fabric stores with much more variety and better prices than joanns, and you can look into if theres a place near you that sells recycled and donated remnants/unused fabrics, etc!
and like. idk. maybe thats all common knowledge among the specific group of cosplayers im talking about. theres nothing wrong with still choosing to buy a cosplay. i just ask: do you know how the people who made it are treated at the source you buy from? are they paid fairly? is it made out of cheap polyester and how comfortable is that for you?
i put — very literally, usually — blood sweat and tears into my costumes. im not saying everyone has to do this. im just. the making aspect is the heart of cosplay to me. its clearly not for everyone and thats fine. it just makes me sad to see so many people acting like its some elitist or inaccessible thing when its not
#genuinely. i miss the days when peoples first cosplays were 'bad'#bc they just started out and did things for the first time. its beautiful to me#anyway. yes i typed this up while sitting at my sewing machine. half-sewn cosplay piece on my lap. my head got too full while working on it#cosplay#slowmotalks

Mastering the Art of Online Learning: Tips and Tricks
In the rapidly evolving landscape of education, the transition to online learning has become increasingly prevalent, presenting both opportunities and challenges for students. Mastering the art of online learning requires a strategic approach, especially when it comes to statistics classes, where data analysis and interpretation play a pivotal role. There are some situations which make the students think who will take my online statistics class for me to complete my projects easily. According to recent studies, the demand for online statistics courses has surged, with a notable increase in enrollment rates. This shift underscores the importance of developing effective strategies to navigate the virtual realm of statistical analysis.
One key tip for success in online statistics classes is to establish a dedicated study space. Research indicates that having a designated area for learning can significantly enhance concentration and overall performance. Create an environment free from distractions, equipped with the necessary tools and resources. Additionally, leverage the power of online forums and discussion groups. Statistics is often best learned through collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Engaging in virtual discussions not only fosters a sense of community but also provides opportunities for clarification and deeper comprehension of complex statistical concepts.
Furthermore, staying organized is crucial when delving into the world of numbers and probabilities. Utilize digital tools such as spreadsheets and statistical software to streamline data management and analysis. Statistics courses often involve a considerable amount of data interpretation, and proficiency in using relevant software can significantly boost efficiency and understanding.
Another valuable trick is to embrace multimedia resources. Online learning offers a plethora of resources beyond traditional textbooks. Video tutorials, interactive simulations, and virtual labs can provide a dynamic and engaging learning experience. Recent educational trends indicate a growing preference for multimedia content in statistics courses, as it enhances visual learning and aids in the retention of complex statistical concepts.
Mastering the art of online learning, particularly in statistics classes, involves a combination of strategic planning, effective organization, and embracing diverse learning resources. By implementing these tips and tricks, students can not only navigate the challenges of virtual statistics courses but also thrive in the digital learning environment. Remember, the key to success lies in adaptability, collaboration, and a proactive approach to online learning.

Your Child’s First Step into Learning Matters More Than You Think
The first time your child picks up a pencil, reads a sentence out loud, or solves a basic math problem—you’re not just witnessing a milestone. You’re witnessing the beginning of their lifelong relationship with learning. And like any strong relationship, the foundation matters.
At this delicate and crucial stage, many parents wonder: Is classroom learning enough? Is it providing the right pace, the right attention, and the right encouragement?
If you’ve asked yourself that question, you’re not alone. More and more parents today are choosing home tutoring to give their children an early advantage. And if you’re looking for reliable, expert-led home tuition for Class 1 in Dehradun, then Saraswati Tutorials is exactly where your search should end.
Why Class 1 Isn’t “Too Early” for Extra Support
There’s a common myth that only older students preparing for board exams or entrance tests need extra tuition. But in reality, the foundational years—from Class 1 to Class 5—are the most crucial for academic development.
It’s during this time that children:
Learn the basics of reading and writing
Understand how numbers work
Develop a sense of discipline, routine, and responsibility
Begin to form their attitude toward studies
If this foundation is weak, no amount of later preparation can completely make up for it. That’s why investing in the right guidance from the start can make all the difference.
Why Home Tuition Works Wonders at This Age
Every child is different—some are shy, some are hyperactive, and some just need a little extra time. Unfortunately, in a busy classroom, individual needs often go unnoticed. That’s where home tuition for Class 1 in Dehradun truly shines.
1. One-on-One Attention
At Saraswati Tutorials, our tutors provide personalized, distraction-free learning environments. The tutor focuses entirely on your child’s needs—clarifying doubts, repeating explanations, and adjusting teaching speed based on your child’s understanding.
“We realized our daughter wasn’t comfortable asking questions in school. Home tuition gave her the space to ask, learn, and grow confidently.”
2. Customized Learning Plans
Children learn at different speeds, and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work. With home tuition, lesson plans are adapted to match your child’s learning style and school curriculum. This ensures not just better understanding, but also improved retention.
3. Stronger Parent-Tutor Communication
With classes happening at home, you get real-time insights into your child’s learning progress. Our tutors regularly update parents on performance, strengths, and areas needing improvement—creating a powerful support system between student, tutor, and parent.

Initial Assessment – To understand your child’s current level.
Customized Study Plan – Tailored as per the school syllabus and your child’s strengths and weaknesses.
Activity-Based Learning – To make lessons fun and effective.

Monthly Reports for Parents – So you’re always in the loop.
What Happens When You Choose the Right Tutor Early On?
When students receive personal attention and encouragement at the start of their academic journey, the long-term benefits are huge. Here’s what you can expect:
Better Academic Performance: Concepts are well understood, not just memorized.
Improved Communication Skills: Regular interaction boosts language and expression.
Increased Confidence: Children feel more in control of their learning.
Reduced Exam Anxiety: Early preparation eliminates fear of tests later on.
The habits your child builds in Class 1 often stay with them throughout their schooling years. So why not build them right?
What Parents Should Look For in Home Tuition for Class 1

Week 8: Life at NTU Pt2 - Hall Culture, Campus Spots and Transportation
Feeling a sense of belonging is, without a doubt, super important in daily life, and NTU does a great job gathering people together in residence halls. Known for a strong hall culture, there are always students walking through hallways in their "hall t-shirts," and sometimes it's easy to tell which hall people are staying in just by looking at their outfit. Events are also constantly happening in each hall and between halls - concerts, mixers, workshops and sports competitions. Sadly, I missed out on the opportunities to join hall sports team and compete in their inter-hall Olympiad Games because it took place at the end of semester 1 (fall semester). However, from Muay Thai (Thai martial art), yoga and pop-dance, to wool felting, app design and 3D printing, I've found the hall workshops to learn new things, make friends and de-stress after a long day.

(Wool Felting Workshop after my stressful biology quiz)
When not in class, North Spine, South Spine and areas around them are perfect spots for students to eat, study, or just hang out! With restaurants, cafes, tea shops, bakeries, supermarkets and libraries nearby, activities such as carnivals, club fairs and Sports Expose Day also take place in these areas, most often, the North Spine Plaza. I have group projects going on for both my Spanish and electronics courses, so my friend and I usually met at North Spine, got food, and looked for empty tutorial rooms (TR) to chat and do our work.

(Spanish Oral Project with Andrea in an empty TR!)

Commuting to classes is fairly convenient on campus due to the bus system. The campus is a lot smaller than Umich, but it still takes a decent amount of time to get to classes because in general, academic buildings are separated from halls. Campus buses are free; they run in loops (it's actually amazing when you miss your stop or just feel like staying on the bus for a little longer for air-con), and I usually take the red loop because buses stop right in front of my hall. There are also city buses like 179, 179A and 199 coming into the campus and we pay with the student card or Apple Pay. Personally I don't travel by city buses at school (just to save money) but I take them whenever I go on a mall trip which is 15 minutes away from NTU.

Bobo twst bday jacket Planning draft
I meant to draw Bobo in Twisted Wonderland's Birthday Jacket card this year since I meant to last year, but it just isn't really happening. Lately I'm just not happy with how I draw humans and I'm not entirely sure what to do about that. I took one try at drawing humans more in a way that I draw my alien creatures and didn't like how it looked. I may want to try experimenting with that a bit more, or just experiment with the art style in general...
Or maybe taking an art class would help, but if I do take one I want to take one in person which I don't see as possible for me at least this year. I can try watching some online videos, but from some videos I've watched I get the feel that lately the art community on some sites may be a bit of a mess when it comes to tutorials?
I could draw it chibi style, but I don't want my twst fan cards in chibi style. I did do chibi style for my planning draft. Usually I do a sketch draft and then the final version, but I decided to do a rough planning draft to better visualize where things would go. As I didn't quite have that set up with my reference pictures and I didn't want to mess with those. So I guess for Bobo's birthday I'll just share this draft:
For those that don't mind, I would actually like to hear some thoughts on if I should include a club patch or not. I like to think Bobo would join the Mountain Lovers club if she could, but she's not officially apart of it. If anything I think since she's technically one student with Grim that would mean she's officially apart of the Gourmet club since in game records say Grim is apart of that. I'd like to think that she doesn't actually have to go to those and it's just Grim that has to go since I'm pretty certain he chose that club.
So, question is, should I have no club patch on her jacket, or should I have the club she wants to join, or the Gourmet club that she's likely registered as apart of? As far as I'm aware, there's no design shared for the Gourmet club's patch, so I might have to make one up...
The pose I have isn't for certain, it's more as a placeholder and to show how she'd wear the jacket. I'm not great with poses as for most of my life I've focused more on characters' looks and barely thought of poses... I'm thinking maybe I should have her holding up two fingers in some way since the birthday jacket is Twst's second-year round of birthday cards and I won't be drawing any anniversary cards like what Grim's card groovies have been. (Grim's groovies tend to be him holding paw-digits in accordance of what twst year anniversary he's celebrating alongside relevant characters. Like for the first year he held up one paw-digit along with first-year students holding up one finger.)
Since Bobo and Grim are counted as one student, I assume they have the same class number assignment, thus why I have A9 on her badge. I've also noticed that the amount of stars on the raven silhouette corresponds to the student year, like third years have three stars. I have a hammer crossed out as my first thought to what her logo patch may be would be her warhammer. I decided against it since I think in her original world her warhammer may be her trademark, besides being ruler, but that warhammer didn't come with her to Twisted Wonderland. In Twisted Wonderland I have her coffin icon as a chanterelle mushroom, so it makes a bit more sense to me that her logo be similar to that. Especially since that seems to be the pattern amongst the birthday jacket cards. Each boys logo appears to be a bit more detailed or similar look to their coffin icon.
So I'm thinking her logo will be a Chanterelle mushroom with a crown at the base of it, like it's growing through it, with a vague shape around it that may look similar to the silhouette of her warhammer head. Since that may be a neat way to still include her warhammer despite not having it in Twisted Wonderland. Plus her warhammer does somewhat represent her unusual physical strength.
I don't know for certain what I want the crown to look like. I would like it to be the same crown from her own world, but I haven't designed that crown. I say crown singular since my idea is that since the first ruler of the Mycelind Kingdom, the first crown made has been kept and passed down amongst the royal family as a relic. A relic since the tradition of royalty having to wear it was long thrown out yet they kept the first crown to remember the founder of the Mycelind Kingdom and for the very rare chances that it be demanded that they wear crowns. That way they can just create replicas for the current royalty to wear. (Any demands would likely be made from the sister kingdom which I still haven't bothered figuring out a name for.)
So having that crown on her logo would help remind that Bobo is royalty in another world. I don't have a crown in her coffin icon since her being royalty doesn't feel relevant with her being within Twisted Wonderland. Sure she could act like she has authority, but what authority could she possibly exercise in a completely different world? Bobo's not going to go around telling people she's royalty, especially as she questions that bringing that up may impact her chances of returning home peacefully in a negative manner.
I also decided with having the mushroom growing through the crown as I do want to draw something with a similar vibe to that which could possibly be body horror so I wont describe that here. I like how it looks with the crown at the base of the mushroom. I have a drawing of it at the middle of the mushroom stem as I wanted to see how that looks. I could put the crown atop the mushroom, but I like having it grow through it as I feel like it fits closer to my idea/vibe of her royalty status being a negative thing for her... I'm not sure how to describe it.
Basically like she's been choked by royal responsibilities. Which does impact how she behaves in Twisted Wonderland. Since she feels a dutiful need to return to her world, she lets some of her negative behaviors persist while she's in Twisted Wonderland. One example being not getting enough sleep since she doesn't want to risk changing her sleep schedule and thus making it harder to get back to her usual work flow when or if she returns home.
I have the jacket mostly closed since I see her as finding Sage's Island cold, or well most of Twisted Wonderland cold, compared to the muggy heat of her home kingdom. None of the official birthday jacket cards had it fully closed, but some had it mostly closed like that. I also figure it's cute to have the vest match Grim's ribbon. She'll also be wearing the hat that I think maybe all the boys get since at least a good amount had one on in the groovy art even when the original card art didn't have the hat. Plus I'm giving her lots of hats for Twisted Wonderland to help shield her eyes from the sun. Being from an underground kingdom, she's not very accustomed to all the bright sunlight.
I could give her shades, but I don't really want her vision to be darkened like that? I figure some shade from a hat brim works better?
#twst related#twst bobo#planned draft art#twst birthday jacket#twst bobo birthday jacket#this wont be on the masterlist since its a draft#i almost want to put long post tag#but my long post tag is supposed to be more for the posts i cant put a keep reading on#please comment if i should give a club patch or not#i could technically draw parts of this but i dont want to before i draw bobo herself#since i need to know what size she'll be in order to get the size of the other parts right#should i make another tag for long posts that are just quite long even after the keep reading?#like keep reading long post?#axv art

Devlog 10: Iteration Part 2
So... been quite busy. I started a trello board for projects I started but never finished. books. programming projects. 3d art projects video games etc and each month I would try to complete a small amount of projects before I start new one’s and due to trying to finish a few projects I haven’t had enough time to work on the zombie game. after a month or 2 I finally have time and been trying to get into the swing of it. mostly small changes at first but later on some bigger changes. My goal was to add more Depth without adding complexity. Basically Complexity is like the amount of and input’s you have where as depth is the amount you can do with those input’s. which is something I felt like was lacking. The only input I added was a left shift key for healing yourself with a expansive item. Which was a really good idea. allowed for resource management, preparation and longer fight’s. But how to add more depth to the combat? well sorta just thinking I noticed that there aren’t really much choices to the weapons. they sorta just do damage. and other’s might damage enemy armor and while trying to think of a solution to this. I came across the concept of “rock. paper. scissor it“. a piece of advice given out by something called “mental checkpoint“ in a video by “butWhyLevin“. I don’t really watch most of them but it sounded like a good Solution to my game. Basically you make enemys weaker against some attacks more then other’s. Alot of combat system’s do this. from Elemental systems in JRPG’s. Doom’s guns. and DOA fighting system(which if i remember correctly from my brother is very similar). and this means I have more reason to add a variety of guns other then “it shoots really fast“. It allows for experimentation and active thinking when buying. Another thing that I also thought was a good idea was Different Enemy states. so far there is just ‘Knockback‘ and ‘Execution‘. but I wanted more. eventually i came up with 4. ‘Stun‘, stops the enemy for a bit. ‘Stagger‘ which sends the enemy and stops them for a bit. ‘KnockBack‘ which sends the enemy flying. putting all other’s that hits it into a stagger state. and when ended leads to a ‘Knockdown state‘ which is basically just the execution. now the problem comes from adding all theses ideas sense the original health system didn’t allow for attacks with names and was extremely messy. So I had to remove it and Do it all again. adding a new enemy state one at a time and organize it to allow for more variations. that way a Gun enemy responses to a shotgun blast is different then a zombie Right now I got the states finish. With that done I started slowly but surely experimenting Aside from health. Enemies been bugging me with how they moved. They where extremely indecisive. Eventually I created “weights“ which decides why a enemy would go to a point. Like if it as enemys or not. or if it’s close/behind the player. And when standing still it allowed for really cool Behavior. Such as two gun enemies teaming up for a flank on both sides. But when moving it was just indecisive. 5 feet in a different direction would just make 2 enemies go “Oh I want to be on the other side!“ instead of committing to a plan. and I couldn’t find a way around it for awhile. Around the same time I decided to join the brackeys game jam for another failed project. But for the game I decided to try out Finite state machines for the first time. And I quite enjoy them for how simple compared to behavior trees. and where alot more easy to write. But the tutorial I used also had a method for changing a variable in another class. the person used to change to different states. After that failed I went back to the zombie project and looked at the code. I hated the fact that some behaviors have to contain a reference to a specific class so I can’t reuse the code. So with the new found knowledge of being able to find a variable and change it. I begin to add some new nodes for changing any boolean. int. float etc and see if they’re in a specific state. Another change I made was put movement into it’s own script outside of the AI. with all this I begin changing the entire A.I. getting the zombies to work was easy. The shotgun guy..well that took alot of work. But with a new start I was able to fix alot of the indecisive behavior and flaws. one of which was gun enemies mixing into the crowd. Which I was able to fix by it checking whether or not enemies was nearby and if they where. they move to a point far away. Through I cannot remember how I fix the indecisive. but point is I did it and now the shotguns are actually a danger After that it took quite some time fixing up the enemies(Or I was lazy). during the mean time I still felt like something was missing. Eventually out of random I decided to up the speed of the zombies and the game was instantly alot more fun. It was alot more intense and force me to think and act faster. but thing’s could use a little polish

The Importance of Hobbies

One of the first questions you get asked when meeting someone new is “what do you like to do?” And if you are at all like me then at one point or another you have probably thought “Well, with what little free time I have, I enjoy sleeping. But I don’t think that’s the best response.” I completely understand the stress and time pit that is working, going to school, and generally trying to be an adult. So it makes sense that a lot of people think that they don’t have time for hobbies. However, there are a lot of benefits to finding a hobby you enjoy even if you just dedicate a very small amount of time to it. A hobby can be anything you enjoy. Some people enjoy exercising, reading, playing games, making art. My personal favorite hobby at the moment is crochet.
So how do you find a hobby you enjoy? You can always get the sampler platter and just try different things until something sticks. You can walk through a Michael’s or Joann’s and see if anything stands out. Another option is seeing if your friends have ideas of things you might enjoy. You could also try out local classes or join Facebook groups centered around X hobby.
Okay, I found something I like. So what? That’s great! One way that hobbies help us is by allowing us to do something challenging but not too challenging that gives us a sense of mastery. You see this in video games or exercising. If you start at level 100 you will get discouraged just like if you start with the tutorial it’s possible it will feel too easy. There’s a sweet spot when things are just hard enough to offer a challenge that we feel we can get through. And that is an excellent feeling and where the best learning occurs, when we are challenged enough to stay interested but not so challenged we give up.
Hobbies also can use parts of our brain that aren’t usually engaged in our day to day activities. As we grow up, a lot of us end up in more sedentary jobs and lifestyles where we don’t get to be creative all the time. So picking up a hobby allows us to use those parts of our brain that we may have not used in a long time. Creativity doesn’t have to be just artwork like drawing or painting. It can be knitting, color by number, reading, or any number of other things.
Hobbies help us with mindfulness. Mindfulness is an extremely useful tool for humans. It can help us deal with mental illness like anxiety and depression as well as helping for symptoms of just general stress. Slowing down and focusing on one thing that we enjoy (i.e. a hobby) helps us practice mindfulness. The more we practice mindfulness, the easier it becomes.
Hobbies also can help us recharge ourselves. With all of the responsibilities that we face, it can be easy to put ourselves on the back burner. Or use what little time we have to just zone out or sleep. However, using hobbies can be a way that we engage in self care. We are taking a conscious effort to do something that we enjoy and focusing on it rather than zoning out.
So, now that you know some of the benefits of hobbies, I hope that you are able to try to find something you enjoy doing and start to implement it. Even if it starts as 5 minutes a day or one hour a week!
Please be in touch. We would be more than happy to discuss how we may be able to help.

pirate fundamentals are all explained in a fairly rudimentary way on the site however since they're mad downplaying it in favor of their discord i'll run you thru what i can off the top of my head.
pirate plays as a turn based chessboard with you and your companions, who all fall into one of five of the games classes. all of these classes have wildly different playstyles even between boss and mob fights or solo and group play. there are three "types" of attacks, magic, ranged and your standard melee and all classes fall into these categories.
you might have picked up on five classes but three of these attacking types and the main combative stats. it can be a little tricky to figure out what goes where without doing extensive reading. this game more than wizard needs a tutorial revamp and im not even kidding in the slightest.
will gives you a boost in staffy/magic attacks, as well as healing, summons and all weapons labelled "bonus from will" which is not just staffs. witchdoctors want to run this because it powers up their magic. privateers want to run it because they're the support and healing class, and some of their "smashy" type melee weapons use will.
strength is the one buccaneers and privateers use, though primarily buccaneers because they're the all-out brawler. privateers who want to run a more damaged focused set can run it but overall it can be a very tough time deciding which you want to do.
agility is the best synergizing of the three big stats. swashbucklers and musketeers both utilize it and there's no two ways about it. no weird class bleed like privateers with will and strength, both of these want to run agility.
boosting the stat your class (and making sure the weapon you're carrying is has the "boost from x" that matches) is proficient in leads to critical hits more often depending on both your amount and how much an enemy has, which becomes vital in late game and racking up chain attacks with abilities, but in early game it is fairly important as well because your pirate will almost always be the most broken part of your team and the best at cleaning up in endgame.
other than that you have weapon power which is based on what weapon you're holding if you're a swashbuckler, a musketeer, a privateer or buccaneer. some late game builds in every class utilize spell power which is for spells (no duh) but that entails the magic, summons etc covered above. i tend to avoid this strategy as this makes the gameplay loop almost worse than wizards classic blade blade aoe in terms of how boring it is and play to my class strengths.
accuracy and dodge are both right what they say on the tin, opposite sides of a coin that continue to scale past 100% and can once again in late game lead to ridiculous chains.
companions come in all classes and utilities. there's no one right way to run any companion with any class and i tend to have my combat set to have my first mate with me and randomize who else comes to the fight from my available roster. your companions do not need to match your class and synergy isn't locked specifically to what power (will strength agility) their class benefits from. for example, my companions chantal and wing chun work well together because he has an ability that boosts her accuracy and can protect her better from melee attackers who she can't usually land a very effective chain on, whereas she can pick off enemy musketeers that would normally blast him into a million billion bird shaped pieces before he could even hope to get close.
battles usually(sans for some cringe boss fights) are 4v4 unless other players join, where their companion number drops as do the enemies that spawn into the fight. it can seem a little hectic and it's why most people quit, but honestly most people you find who still play tend to do it solo anyways and won't bog down the fight, or at least ask before joining.
pets are good in the sense that you can train them to give you helpful combative abilities and they themselves can join fights and do chip damage but it's a stupid complicated system. they do "train themselves" unlike wiz but it takes much longer and you need to be in an active discord to have a shot at an optimal build.
if theres anything else i missed lmk
Alright how the FUCK do you play Pirate 101

Entry 1: Catch up
For the past two weeks I've been learning Python and I've been really enjoying it. I've completed the Learn Python 3 course on Codecademy and have been using various Youtube tutorials, as of right now I can confidently work with:
Basic syntax
Boolean operators
If, elif, else statements
while and for loops
Lists, tuples, and dictionaries
Functions
Modules
Files
Technically, classes should be on this list but it makes no sense and I hate it...

Having to read some of the worst poetry I’ve ever seen in my entire life for an ill-explained assignment because my prof wants to know we can cite things properly. This is patronizing even for an elective.
#i'm getting the impression that this prof is just... nuts.#like it's week 4 now and she has taught absolutely nothing. literally nothing.#tbf she's not even teaching. it's all asynchronous except for tutorials where my TA teaches and grades everything.#and the prof's lectures are recordings from either LAST YEAR or the year before. and her mic is so bad you can't understand her.#i paid....... 2 fucking grand for this course. out of my hard earned scholarship. because apparently i needed another elective.#yes i'm fucking bitter. and it should be easy but the assignments make no sense at all and even the prof's citations are legit wrong.#2. fucking. grand. for this shit.#that was half my scholarship. it's the biggest amount of money i've ever gotten. i can't afford another of these bullshit classes.

1, 12, 4, and 7 for the artist asks!
Love the avant-garde non-chronological storytelling this employs
1. What canon character(s) do you love to draw the most? (And why?)
As of NOW, it’s changed considerably. Tbh I think I’m still finding out who is the favorite to actually draw vs. a character I just happen to draw a lot. …So on that end i’m gonna refer to old but gold, Yamcha MIGHT still be my top favorite to actually draw. It’s just been a hot minute. His design means the world to me. Even if in toriyama-land he’s default generic pretty man. with scaaaarssss. AIN’T NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT IN MY HOUSE!!!
12. Which OC do you love to draw the most? (And why?)
I have a new favorite now starting back in April. WHOMST? she’s hasn’t been introduced yet. At least not formally up here? I like drawing her because (and im gonna sound so,,,), anyway after all the bs irl from then to now, she’s now my comfort character. Im obsessed with indulgent scenarios mkay. Though she has cameo’d twice so far publicly. But she’s inevitable just gimme a hot minute to stop being cryptic for no reason , here’s important stuff

4. What type of colors do you like using in your art? (And why?)
I’M FINDING MYSELF USING A LOT MORE BLUES AND GREENS NOW and anything in that group.
7. Any funky lil art tips? ((WARNING I START LOSING IT ))
Not unless something is asked in specific and caters to a specific persons needs. TIP: there’s no ONE way to approach anything. Like!! If that video tutorial someone pedantically linked in a discord channel isn’t helping you then!! It’S FINE TO try something else! Or if google searching isn’t teaching you then ask someone else! …but plz be cooperative about it and open to listen, i know i just said there’s no “one way” to do something (and there isn’t, these arent contradicting statements) but the amount of times i’ve seen art advice fall on deaf ears because the asker just was not cooperative despite inciting kills me.
Also plz learn fundamentals i know they are tedious, boring, and seemingly useless (aND ARE THEY EVER so not-fun to learn, take from someone who had to start at the beginning every new class for a D E C A D E), buT it COMES BACK SO OFTEN and is more universal than people assume. Then hey, maybe that tiktok “art shortcut” will finally make sense or be a little easier to grasp. Yeah shortcuts are cool n all but that shortcut was made by someone who considers all this “second-nature” and has like, years of foundations under their belt to MAKE that sorta thing 😭
actually now that i think about it all this is like the equivalent of ppl buying those old “how to draw whatever” books back in middle school but instead of reading the material, people just looked at the pictures and skipped to idk tracing the final results. Meme the chris hart books all you want (there’s a lot to lol at, especially in a modern lens) but those foundational portions early on in those text blocks aRE sAying universal things!! IT ISNT GONNA CONDUCT A MIRACLE OR ANYTHING buT THE KNOWLEDGE DOES HELP A LOT AAAAaa reading!!
I JUST AAAAA
i literally trailed off im so fuckib sorry i have a 7 hour shift in an hour and dont wanna leave my bed
