Hey! I just wanted to say thank you for all the content you put out. I know it gets a bit discouraging on tumblr sometimes and it feels so barren here these days but please know that your work is appreciated by so many people! And I want you to know that you are not obligated to create, so please take breaks when you need to and never apologize for being inactive from the creating scene! I hope you’re taking care! - a supporter

ik u said to ignore it but i cant ignore it because im a natural snoop and i fucking love reading tags. its where people show their colors and i think everyone has a rainbow inside them. which prompts me to say that u dont have to answer this. hell, u can ignore this.
anyway, maybe its coz im using tumblr wrong. i literally only come here to grab some *feels* (good and bad) at the popular reblogs and then occasionally join in the simblr "oooh" and "gaaah!!" eras that i feel like im missing out on what u call the Back in the Day tumblr era. tumblr was advertised to me as a blogging site so like lmfao.
maybe its also because of the power of the anon feature that i can actually make myself be able to enter ur ask box without feeling too shy or scared that im here to comment on ur post. is it because we're far too scared to interact beyond the comments or is it because drama (not sure if theres a better word for it, controversy maybe?) has scarred us and being able to comment on things without the anon feature kind of scares us all now?
regarding simblr drama posts that blow up, u could probably also contribute it to bandwagon, right? like obv, its not the only reason it blows up but bandwagon helps. its far too easy to join in the opinion that everyone agrees on and parrot it around. like idk if im making sense but isnt it kinda easier to "not have an opinion" but rb that other person's opinion/fact that the rest of the community has deemed correct or right as if its your own (ok maybe this sentence sounds bad and i could probably phrase it as "i have an opinion about it but this other person has worded it so perfectly that i will rb this instead". anyway i'll leave it in coz the previous one could be true to some people). not that its bad, im honestly glad most of us agree on smth, it just sometimes loses that sense of discussion u probably meant if we're all just parroting everything.
i mean, i've seen it happen. especially during certain major events here where my dash was full of the same post being reblogged by myself and a couple others with no additional ideas (even tags sometimes, like i said i love tags i think tags hold a lot of unspoken but spoken ideas if u get it).
i had a point here somewhere. anyway what i meant to say was, i think i have similar feelings with u regarding discussions (lmfao look at this long post). but im far too scared to get out of anon to actually have it with u or anyone else in simblr.
have a good day/night tho :"D
Hahah no thank you for snooping on my tags 😅 what I meant to say is, I notice that most engagement happens through likes instead of comments, which is just really frustrating because yeah, I am used to tumblr being more of a forum so likes feel very empty to me. Unless it’s “”drama”” then yeah like you said, people are more inclined to comment. Like my first post that blew up was literally just “not someone charging $3 for sims nipples” or st like that which was really funny but also a little sad bc I would’ve loved to engage like that on posts I actually cared about and that weren’t just me being cheeky lol. That said, I understand what you mean about feeling too shy. I asked about this earlier - why ask questions on anon if they’re not mean - and for most people yeah, it boiled down to being shy or not wanting to seem over eager. But I LOVE when people are eager about my nonsense, I LOVE when people ramble like this in tags or comments or my inbox about my story/sims. That is the sole thing that’s kept me active here tbh - the couple people who comment and send me asks instead of just throwing a like here and there. I’ve been told many times that engagement on simblr is a lot lower than it used to be which is a little discouraging. I’ll look at my friends with large blogs and even though their stories get 100s of likes there’s still only 2-5 comments! I’d be pulling my hair out!! Maybe it’s a pet peeve that’s kinda specific to me lol but it does bother me sometimes especially when I put a q like hey tell me what you thought about x or whatever the case may be. Like even going so far as to be like “instead of a like tell me about x :) “ and that still not working. I guess that’s just not the way people engage on tumblr anymore :/ 🤷🏾‍♀️

Hi! I saw your message. I didn't mind if you posted it, but thank you for taking the time to consider my thoughts on that!
I wanted to apologize for spamming your notifications! Incase I'm coming off as weird or anything.
I know what it's like to receive like zero encouragement on writing via the internet on writing and how discouraging it is, so I just wanted to give back some of the joy you've given me as the reader.
I've loved a lot of fics but TTFATTF really hit home for me in a way I didn't go into reading it expecting it. The movie also speaks very much to me. The characters' journey of grieving/mourning a loved one, plus going through a dystopia alien apocolypse (parallel it with the pandemic), and getting into the path of healing spoke to me for various reasons, and I was pleasantly surprised at how you are having the characters deal with it all. TTFATTF quite literally ✨hit me✨ in the feels. Thank you for sharing it. (No pressure or anything on the writing. I don't mean to just plant something heavy onto your shoulders. omg.) I've read through comments on TTFATTF and I know I'm not the only one this fic speaks to.
Also: JOHN KRASINSKI ANSWER FOR YOUR CRIMES. I needed like 30 more minutes of AQP2.
I can't wait for when you post the new fic! 90s Evemett here I come!!!
I'm so totally glad that you are doing what you need to take care of yourself. Purge writing and then not taking any breaks is the worst and I've done it one too many times that coming out of it is like overcoming a bad hangover.
Sorry for the long ask! You can post this or answer it privately! Whatever you're comfortable with. Bye! 👋
ok first off - you're absolutely not spammy at all & i love it & also im a crazy person who reads everyone's tags when they reblog things JDKLFJSFL.
Gosh, I really cannot express how happy that makes me to hear like - it's so nice to KNOW that the story resonates with so many people especially in regard to topics like grief/mourning/healing. liKe yes you're not the first person to mention this but gosh it is so VALIDATING to hear as a writer. because you know, i sometimes feel like im stumbling through it. so yEAH. idk. just big thank you all around. <3
JOHN. ANSWER FOR UR CRIMES!!! yeah, i understand WHY he ended it the way he did (he was big on parallels/callbacks to the first movie) and the first movie ended with Evelyn loading the shotgun, so it makes sense that he'd end the 2nd with the children standing over the monsters they defeated. From a cinematic standpoint/creative standpoint, I GET IT, but also yeah, I would've loved just a little bit more.
AHHH 90S EVELYN/EMMETT. I am so thrilled to share it. It's been a comfort to write during this crazy transition period in my life. Because I can be SOFT and SELF-INDULGENT lmao !!!
and yes, I've honestly taken a break from writing TTFATTF and am focusing on the AU for now - at least until I'm at my new house & in my own bed lol. It's all about that comfort ~
Alsooooo pls omg don't worry about sending long asks. I love it. I feel like I'm making friends :,) and it's nice to know that other people, even if it's only a handful of us, connected to the movie/the characters.

hello! i wanted to ask if you had any gameplay/editing tips and suggestions for new simblrs? i really love your sims and the aesthetic of the posts you make! thank you <3
thank uuuu!! im gonna answer ur questions under the cut bc it’s a long one!
for gameplay tips im lammme bc i struggle a lot, im stuck between “i need some guidance and rules otherwise idk what to do” but also “im failing to complete the rules why am i doing a challenge i wanna be free” so ye….. other than that, don’t hesitate to use poses, and um i love taking pics outdoors (when it’s sunny!!! oasis springs ftw) bc the lighting is the best outside imo! also when i take pics i zoom the tab camera to the max!
for editing, u just gotta find a psd that goes w ur aesthetic, im really into colorful and smooth post and that’s how i like my posts, but im also v in love with some other blog’s mystical, dark and sharp edits/gp posts! it’s funny how ur editing will set the mood for ur blog so think about what u want ppl to think when they see ur posts C^: my faq gives links on what i use to edit! photoshop is a lifesaver and my content got better when i transitioned from gimp to ps (i got it for free to answer another nonny, i don’t remember where i got it from tho :/)! eventho it’s not a necessity for a blog to be hella good, it helps!
as for new simblrs, i think v strongly that quality>quantity so if u end up posting only once a day but u’re sure that u love this post, it’s better than publishing too much posts that ppl will have a “meh” feeling about! but i gotta say that some blogs still manage to post a lot of v good posts everyday (im lookin at u jess) but they’re quite rare! so ye quality>quantity imo!! remember to tag ur posts, also don’t get discouraged by the lack of notes, i remember in 2017 when i started my blog i had no more than 5 notes during a few months on my posts but eventually u’ll find what makes ur blog stand out!
also interact w others, when u like something say it!!! every single comment is v heartwarming and even if a simblr doesn’t answer, just know that they read it and appreciated it! find urself some mutuals that share the same aesthetic (or not, it’s up to u, u just gotta appreciate each other’s content!)! be kind but also be urself!!!
and last thing, about urls: there’s plenty of cute sim related ones out here, and i love them but don’t feel obligated to have one, to have the word “sim” somewhere in it! bc imo ppl will remember u more easily if u stand out! at least i think they do! i know i get mixed up between some blogs that have sim cities names spelled differently as their url! eventho they’re cute! :^(
okiiii that was long and sorry if u’re on mobile!!

Not an ask meme question tbh but it's something I really wanted to ask because I admire your writing (ditto to video's writing if they see this (hello btw)!): how did you get over your fear to post writing things on tumblr? Sharing my writing scares me so much that I don't really write outta fear. I miss it a ton so I wanna start again & share with folk but the idea is scary. How do you do it?
First of all, thank you!! I’m so glad you like my writing! :’)
Second, I would say tumblr is a fucking terrible platform for writing, though some fandoms (dragon age) are way better about reblogging/supporting their fanfic writers than others (the arcana). I’d highly recommend posting to ao3, because ao3, while the arcana fandom isn’t necessarily active on there either, it has an infrastructure built to support and nurture writers!! I want you to get as much support as you can, anon!
But to get to your question as to how I get over my fear to post my writing on tumblr:
I’m a massive hoe!
more writing advice under the cut :)
I think the mantra “don’t write for others write for yourself uwu” is, to a certain extent, complete bullshit. Sure, I love writing my stories and sure, I love my characters, but I also want other people to love my characters and read about them. I want other people to want to read about them and their stories. So what do I do?
I keep writing, and I keep posting, and eventually people will start to notice. It can get really discouraging at first; my first arcana stuff on tumblr got, like, 3 notes. I seriously considered leaving the arcana and going back to the same solas hell I’d been in for the past three years until @4biddenleeches fuckin’ reblogged one of my oneshots and added a whole paragraph of nice comments in the tags AND commented on ao3!! She saved my arcana fandom life!! She’s the real MVP yall, without her I would have written like 3 things for the arcana and that would’ve been it.
So that’s my answer: I’m a hoe, and I want people to read my stuff. Writing fanfic isn’t fun for me if I don’t get to share my work w/ others and I don’t know that other ppl are enjoying my work alongside me.
But I am curious as to your reasons as to why you’re afraid to post to tumblr. I can think of a couple reasons why this might be, though I don’t know your reasons specifically. So, I’m going to be using a fictitious presumption that you want to write Nadia and/or Asra-centric fic for the Arcana fandom as opposed to fic for the Dragon Age fandom.
Is it because you think no one will read it?
First of all, if this is the case, TAG ME, 🅱️LEASE, I WANT TO READ UR STUFF!! (esp. if it’s nadia or asra content... feed me... i’m starving)
In all seriousness, this is a totally understandable concern. This partially feeds into how hostile tumblr as a platform is for fanfiction and other writing, but it can often feel like your work is being ignored, especially if you’re in the Nadia or Asra tag and your beautiful fanfiction keeps being drowned out by meme posts about how Julian is disaster hottie husband material (I’m joking but really people please stop putting Julian-only stuff in Nadia & Asra’s tags, we know u want notes but pls we’re starving!!).
But there’s a whole complexity that goes into posts that show up or get attention, including whether or not there’s external links, formatting, length, etc. It really just takes a lot of tinkering to find that “fit” or to decide that you don’t care, which is also a valid take.
The only advice I have for this would be to keep writing. The more content you put out there into the void, the more likely you’re to be noticed, to get feedback, and to gain a following. @kauriart has an excellent tumblr-fanfic-centric advice post here. And if worst comes to worst, if you tag me, I’ll read your work and possibly shove it in all of my friends’s faces!!
Is it because you don’t think your work is up to snuff?
Again, I would continue to encourage you to keep writing. The best way to improve is to practice. I hated my Asra characterization in my first few chapters of handle with care, and now he comes very naturally to me, because I’ve written like,,, 100,000+ words about him ://// press f for respects re: my wrists
Also, keep in mind that you are always, always your own worst critic! What you may think is absolute garbage may be what someone else thinks is 24-karat gold! If you really hate a piece you’ve worked on, that’s totally fine -- shove it on a google doc somewhere (DON’T DELETE! There may be lines or paragraphs you like & that you can cannibalize for later work! Internet space is infinite!) and start again, thinking about what you can do different, how you could improve what you’ve already written, etc.
There may be another reason you’re afraid to post your work on tumblr, in which case I invite you to send me another ask so I can give you advice, or even send me an IM! But my advice mostly bubbles down to this: keep trucking along. good things come to those who wait. your dues will come; the forest always knows what it owes. :)
last but not least: pray to aphrodite, patron goddess of fanfiction. she will not lead you astray, sweet writer.
(if u post anything u better tag me anon 🔪)

This took me so long to write and idk why???? but Halloween is so close and I’m so PUMPED. Also thank you ms-bootybooty (◕‿◕✿) and anon, honestly that was the cutest thing I’ve ever read omgggggg. Rest of the characters under the cut ^^
Yoosung:He loved going trick or treating as a kid. Those late nights of walking up and down the neighbourhood with your friends, exchanging candy at the end of it, and the stomach ache you’d get when you ate half of it in one sitting seemed to be long behind him after high school. That is until you two planned to spend your first Halloween together. You wanted nothing more than to go trick or treating with him, and it’s not like he could refuse when you looked at him with those big, pleading eyes. Plus free candy sounded nice, so why not?
About an hour into it, he had remembered how tiresome this activity actually was, but you seemed to be full of enough energy for the both of them to keep going. It was almost hard to keep up with you when you seemed to be dashing door to door while he couldn’t even keep up. He also felt a little discouraged when he saw how much heavier your bag seemed to be compared to his.
You noticed this and decided to slow down enough to check on him.
“Yoosung, are you alright?” you asked, “do you wanna go home?”
“Pfft, I’m fine,” he lied through his teeth, “actually, if you want, I can carry your bag for you.”
“Yoosung, are you su-“ before you could finish, he grabbed your bag and encouraged you to just go forward to the next house. You found it a bit odd, but decided not to question it.
Although as you got to every house, grabbing your bag to dump whatever candy you had just gotten, you noticed that your bag seemed to not get any heavier. At one point, you grabbed it to feel that it was a lot lighter than last.
“Hey Yoosung,” you said, gaining his attention.
“Yeah?”
“Can I feel your bag?”
“Wha-why?!” he questioned, almost defensively.
“I just want to see something,” you said as you reached for it, only for him to yank it behind him. This answered your suspicion.
“Alriiiiight,” you said, stepping away from him only to tackle him into the grass. You pinned him down, grabbing the bag out of his hand to feel that it was significantly heavier than yours without a real reason. You looked down to shoot him a glare as he tried to explain himself, stumbling to try to find the right words to say. Ultimately, you two went straight home after that and you took his candy as punishment.
Zen:He had only gone trick or treating when he was too young to remember what it was like. Because of his circumstance, he always had to stay home on Halloween when he got older. Even after he left his household, he thought he was too mature for it.
So when you suggested doing that this year, he wasn’t too convinced and dismissed the idea, thinking you were joking since you two were too old for that. Although he noticed that you seemed reserved and upset after that so after a few days of the silent treatment, he agreed to it. The second he agreed, you ran to show him the couple costume you had already purchased, knowing he’d give in at some point or another.
When you two went out, going door to door around his neighbourhood, you were the one dragging him by the arm and calling him a slowpoke when he couldn’t catch up. Every house you got to though, Zen would charm the greeter, resulting in them taking the whole bowl and dumping it in his bag, which he promised would mostly go to you. He only did it because he loved the excitement on your face at all the candy you two were earning.
After a while, he noticed that you were slowing down and seemed to be crashing from the candy you ate. He was also starting feel tired, ready to call it a night.
“Do you wanna hop on my back and head home?”
“And miss out on some more candy? The night is still young!” you exclaimed as you perked up and ran passed him, as if to prove some point. He knew you’d wear down soon, but he didn’t expect you to run, trip into a bush and stay there with a faraway look in your eyes, as if admitting defeat. With that, he carried you, and the many pounds of candy you two collected, home.
Jaehee:She was all for taking you trick or treating. She wasn’t necessarily up for you walking out of your room dressed like her the night of Halloween.
“MC, that’s very funny, but you should change into your costume before it gets too late,” she insisted.
“This is my costume,” you said, “I’m going as a sleep-deprived, yet sexy office worker.”
She sighed at your comment, but the blush on her cheeks suggested that she didn’t hate that.
“Alright, well let’s get going.”
“Let me just check the schedule and plan accordingly as to not upset clients,” you mocked as you walked past her and out the door, “it seems that we are on time.”
You looked back to see her face and she did not seem amused. Nonetheless, you two ventured on your quest for candy, or as you called it the whole way, your business meeting that ran too long so they gave you candy to make up for it. Oddly enough, she almost found you irresistible when you were talking fake business so she was sneaking kisses in between houses. At one point, you just stopped to make out behind an inflatable Halloween decoration.
Throughout the night though, you two didn’t collect too much candy from all the stopping you had done so when you got home, a little disappointed with your haul, Jaehee decided to just give you her candy. It was a really sweet moment, until you suggested a business exchange and winked suggestively.
Jumin:He doesn’t understand it at all. You knock at someone’s door and they give you candy? All because it’s some special, spooky day? Why not just buy the candy? This isn’t something he’d care to do, but he agrees to it, knowing it’ll make you happy to go along with it. You even went out of the way to get costumes together, how could he say no? Although you had to convince him not to have driver Kim drive you two from house to house, but that came with the compromise of having two bodyguards tag along.
As soon as you to get to the first door, taking the initiative to knock before him, you realized that you didn’t explain to him what to do. So when the door opened, he immediately pulled out cash and handed it to the elderly woman that greeted you two and said “give us all the candy you have.”
After collecting that candy, you stopped him before going up to the next house.
“Hey Jumin,” you spoke up. He simply hummed in response.
“You don’t have to pay for this candy,” you said, looking over to read his expression which formed into a confused one.
“But they provided us a good,” he started, “and you exchange currency when you are provided a good or service.”
“Yes, but not tonight. You get candy for free for dressing up, going door to door, and saying ‘trick or treat,’ not ‘give me all your candy,’” you said, stifling a laugh.
You got to the next door, letting him knock and observing if he had learned the correct way to trick or treat.
“Trick or treat,” he said as soon as the door was opened. As he was handed an apple, something he hadn’t expected, he took a minute to just stare at it.
“MC, I thought you said we’d get candy.”
“Well usually candy is given, but it depends on the household,” you said as you two were walking off to the next house.
“Well that’s just false advertising then,” he said, wearing the most unreadable expression.
As you two trekked on, collecting candy late into the night, he couldn’t help but admire your child-like innocence. Skipping ahead and dragging him forward by the arm, bodyguards far behind because they just couldn’t catch up with you. After a while, you two called it a night and returned to the penthouse to start explaining the candy trade at the end of the night.
Saeyoung:A normal life wasn’t a possibility for him. Having someone to make happy, tell everything to, or spend holidays with was a mere fantasy he’d never get to live out. Halloween being no exception, as it was something he heard about, but never truly got to experience. That is until you came into his life, ready to show him what that was all like. And he wanted nothing more than to celebrate Halloween with you, however you wished to. When you told him you wanted to go trick or treating, his eyes seemed to brighten up with excitement. It’s not something he ever got to do and the fact that his first time would be with you made it so much better.
You let him pick out the costumes and while it was something ridiculous and silly, you went along with it. You two also made a bet beforehand that whoever collected the most candy at the end of the night would be the ruler of the bunker, meaning that the loser had to do whatever the winner wanted for a day. You had a few tricks up your sleeve to win, but you anticipated that he’d be a force to reckon with.
The night started with you having a strong lead with the heavier bag, Saeyoung not being that far behind however. You noticed that he would run to the front of the door in a huge group, sneak to the back and collect candy again using a mask he brought along. Clever, but you were determined to beat him. You pulled out a second bag and claimed it was for your little brother who was too sick to tag along. You two were in for a long night of deceitful trick or treating.
By the end, you two rushed home to count your candy together and declare a victor. To his surprise, you had beat him by only two pieces.
“That’s not fair!” he whined, “I have more full size candy bars than you! That should count as two.”
“Don’t be such a sore loser and accept defeat,” you said as you went to rub his cheek in comfort only to inch closer, “now as my first decree, give me a congratulatory kiss.”
He leaned in to give you a kiss, seeming to forget his previous outburst as he deepened it. You pulled away, still inches from his face with a smirk grazing your lips.
“Now go fetch me something to drink,” you said as he begrudgingly got up to follow your order. The candy was nice, but this victory was much sweeter.
V:He used to go trick or treating in his neighbourhood every year as a kid. He did live in a rich neighbourhood though so he’d get full to king size candy bars, which led to plenty of cavities, but a content Jihyun by the end of the night.
It had been so many years since he even thought about celebrating Halloween, but when you told him that you wanted to go trick or treating, he hesitated but agreed nonetheless. And he knew exactly where to take you.
As soon as you two got into costume you two went off on your adventure. He had been driving for a while until you reached an extravagant neighbourhood with houses that were basically mansions you could only dream of living in. He came to a stop, parking himself on the street before getting out.
“How did you find this place?” you asked as you got out to look around you in amazement. You could only imagine the type of candy they’ve got stocked up.
“I used to live around here with Jumin,” he said simply, “and I used to trick or treat up and down these streets so I can assure you the candy will be good.”
With that, you two walked hand in hand, knocking at each door to collect candy. There was even the occasional house that would remember V and give you two extra candy for visiting. Along the way, he would tell you some of his fondest memories growing up there and pointing out his old home. It was really neat to see something like that, which made you feel much closer to him. The candy was definitely a plus.
Saeran:With Halloween rolling around, he had learned more about the traditional customs that came with it. When you told him about trick or treating, he seemed confused.
“Trick or treat?”
“Yeah, you go door to door, say that, and get candy.”
“What’s the trick part?”
“Well usually people take it to mean pulling a trick on someone who doesn’t give you candy,” you explained, “but we’re not gonna do that.”
“Wait, we’re trick or treating?”
“I’ve already bought the costumes, there’s no getting out of it,” you said as he shot you a glare. Although you saw some excitement in his eyes, even if he tried to dismiss it as boring and childish. You could tell he wanted to do it.
When that night came, he was almost dragging you from his excitement. It was hard to keep up but so sweet to see the smile spread across his face the whole time. Nothing was bringing him down, until he got to one house that seemed to think he was too old for trick or treating so they didn’t give him candy.
“Well luckily,” he said as he pulled some rolls of toilet paper out, “I came prepared.”
“Saeran! I told you we weren’t going to that!” you exclaimed, taking it away.
“You can take the first throw.”
“Alright!”
You unwrapped it and took your shot at their tree, smiling from ear to ear as it went over a branch. You two worked on your master piece for a few minutes, covering their tree, car, and each other at one point. You wrapped his legs as a sign that you two were done, but he just couldn’t stop so you tackled him into the soft pile of toilet paper you started. You stared down at him as you had him pinned and he let out a laugh, which sounded so cute. You wanted to lean down and kiss him, but you heard the front door open so you pulled him up, grabbed your things and ran as you heard shouting from the owner.

hi so like i’m rlly nervous rn cuz idk who to ask and i’m just a giant ball of nerves but i really wanna ask someone and i just think ur an amazing writer and ah anyways how would i go about starting a fic blog bc i really love writing and i wanna start posting my stuffs but idk where to start and ah im sorry for bothering you (´∀`; )
you’re not bothering me at all, don’t be nervous!! Its as simple as staring any blog, tbh.
Basically, decide if you want to have your fics separate from your main blog. For me, I started this blog as a space where I only posted fics, and never anything else, but overtime I changed it to have it be my Phandom blog in its entirety and I post phan things as well as my phanfics here.
Then, start writing and posting. The best way to get found and gain followers as a fanfic creator is to submit your fics to phanfic.tumblr.com where a lot of readers find their phanfics, as its a huge community to find newly posted fics and is quite well known in the phandom. Also make sure to tag your fic appropriately. Only the first 5 tags will show up in a search, so tag “phanfic” “phanfiction” as the first two in particular, and then perhaps include other tags that include what you wrote like “phan smut” or “phan fluff” or “phan angst” etc...
Don’t be afraid to reblog yourself a few times a day. I usually reblog my fics every 3 hours for 24 hours because I know I have an incredibly diverse group of followers from all over the world, and it’s easy for your post to get buried in their dash if they do follow you.
Don’t be afraid to reblog yourself and answer people’s comments they might have left in their reblog. It’s always good to communicate with the people who loved your writing enough to comment. This isn’t really all that helpful for gaining followers or anything hahaa but I just find it makes people feel good so I thought I’d add it
Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get lots of notes on fics at first, or if you don’t gain a massive amount of followers early on. I’ve been running this blog for about 4 years now, and I still have fics that get less than 100 notes. Notes don’t always mean how good your fic was; notes sometimes just reflect how little notice the fic might have gotten. Keep writing, and do it for yourself and the people who will grow to be yours fans more than anything. Treasure those who cheer you on, rather than thirsting for more and more views. Most of all, just write things that make you happy

How do you become a succesful art blog?
hmm this is an interesting question so forgive me as this is going to be a long answer. its hard to define success as an art blog to me. is it a certain number of followers or notes? i feel most “successful” reading tags and comments from others. when they tell me my art makes them happy. that it reminded them of their childhood. to me, evoking those emotions is more successful than reaching any stat or being noticed by another artist. its totally fine to want validation from others for ur work, everyone does! but dont lose sight of the other rewarding aspects of art that come from small and simple things. i think u should take these things into account when weighing ur success as an artist!
however im gonna assume ur speaking about the popularity aspect of success. i have received wonderful attention and support which im very incredibly grateful for, but there isnt really a formula to get that. i could tell u to post on a frequent schedule or only draw for the most popular fandoms, but thats just shallow advice that i dont even follow. i post whenever & i dont take into account the times with the most traffic. i draw whatever i feel like drawing, and what i draw for can be pretty inconsistent because its all based on my mood. honestly? do whatever u want to do! if u enjoy drawing something then draw it, and if ur not feeling it ur not obligated to post. if u continue to draw what makes u happy when it makes u happy, people will eventually take notice of u and feel the passion u put into it no matter what the subject may be.
above all else i think its important to be kind (in any situation not just art ofc)…show support and kindness to others. uplift and encourage your fellow artists and they’ll do the same for u. dont see other artists as competition for ur success but on ur side as part of this one big art team. just…be good. be humble. have fun creating, its an amazing skill that u can do so, so much with. dont let anyone discourage u and dont give up. im rooting for u and i hope someday soon u can feel ur successful, whatever the terms of that success are!!

hi skitty!! i really really admire the way you write and how you address your readers. a few weeks ago i asked you for writing advice, and your answer really motivated me to finish a chapter i was writing, so thank u so much!! do u have advice for writers who dont get hits/kudos/cmts on ao3? i know it doesn't matter totally but it's discouraging to see ur work buried under new fic that was posted on the same day :c please dont feel pressured to answer this! you really don't have to thank you ðŸ’–í ½
hi anon! thank you, i think. i try to keep up semi-consistent rapport with the reader base, because that’s how i was raised on the internet, and it’s only given me good things in return.
i’m glad you got a chapter done! that’s always a great feeling. bask in it. you’ve earned it! but hm, hm, advice for that... first, unfortunately, i gotta tell you right now not to get your hopes up for a lot of comments on ao3. it’s just not within that kind of readership culture. it’s getting better, i think, but please don’t be totally put out if the hits/kudos/comments ratio is really depressing. (i’d strongly recommend not checking that at all, and never get into the habit of it.)
i don’t know if you have multiple projects going on right now, but do recognize that some projects are just gonna be more popular than others, no matter your personal feelings on the matter. it happens! who knows what fandoms would ever like.
reply to each comment you do get, and you can help build loyal readers that way. take pride in the kudos you do get.
you can always crosspost to other sites - whether it’s actually posting, or just links to it - and that could help. but i know, sometimes those numbers just don’t come in.
the good news is that readers will always go digging. tag your story appropriately - don’t over-tag in a bid for attention, it just clogs up the tags and no one’s happy! - and don’t be afraid to wiggle around the summary at different points. share with your friends, followers, mutuals, etc. and then... wait it out. your story will be there for as long as you want it to be, and the good news is that attention builds over time. it’s not as if people can take away kudos or hits from you. while it may not be at the top of the tag for very long, it’ll still be there, and people can find it a week, a month, or even a year from now.
unfortunately, as with a lot of kinds of fandom popularity, you kind of have to deal with the hand you’re dealt. and that’s shitty sometimes! treasure the attention you do get, don’t be afraid to post it elsewhere for more, and keep in mind that lurkers do exist. there are people out there who could be lovin your story but who are too shy, or busy, or any number of reasons why they can’t comment or let you know. people ARE reading your fic! sometimes, ultimately, if the fic makes you happy, that’s all you can do. not every story is for every reader. not every story will be big. it doesn’t mean it isn’t appreciated.
