Peridot went to tea with Carolyn a few times, back when they were younger, and used to spend time with her quite a bit. Had sleepovers and everything!

They drifted apart as they got older, though, and neither had any idea that the people they were married to ended up together at one point.

pokemon team

ettie ♀ - milo's first pokemon, met as a woobat the night milo got isekai-ed! trainerless but taken to a pokemon center for mild injuries, she managed to escape containment and stick herself to milo's cheek, and has been with them ever since. she's goofy and sweet. she's also a service pokemon, using calm mind to help milo with their anxiety.

julian ♀ - originally caught as a venipede in a subway tunnel by ingo helping the interpol survey the line milo dimension-hopped on. he gave her to them a few months later so they'd have a slightly stronger pokemon to look after them while training ettie. she's now milo's ace, and their main form of transportation in hisui.

peridot ○ - caught in a visit to celestial tower! a gaggle of elgyem started following milo, fascinated by their non-native psychic vibes. peridot was the boldest, and came with them after a friendly battle. it's incredibly curious about human objects + technology and will frequently pick things up to examine with them with the utmost care

dewdrop ♂ - fished up during milo's time in hoenn! he's a spunky creature, very personable, and the most enthusiastic battler on milo's team. has never quite gotten the hang of using healing moves.

outfits

isekai - their usual winter gear from earth, what they were wearing when they got isekai-ed. their giant thrifted ski jacket from the 90s is exceptionally warm. you can only see the straps, but they had their backpack on them as well! earthly belongings that came with them include several class notebooks, a tarot deck and journal, a box set of their favorite horror ttrpg, a deck of cards, their phone, headphones, and a phone charger. they were on their way back from visiting friends when they got eeby deebied to the pokemon world.

casual - an average outfit they end up with while in the process of settling in! they wear this and similar outfits in their everyday life, going to their galarian language lessons and to work in the quilt shop in nimbasa. the grey tank is band merch from a hard rock/metal band called Destiny Bond that elesa introduces them to. :]

events - when they're going out somewhere and want to Look Good, milo goes full 70s twink! nothing like some good fruity androgyny. they are incredibly glad historical fashion trends of the pokemon world mirror earth's.

hisui - the first few months in hisui they spend in the couple sets of plainclothes they brought with them from the future, but once they get to jubilife, milo does a LOT of trading to acquire various outfits from the clothier's! they favor women's hakama and geta sandals when in town. their original glasses from earth get lost early on in an incident with a flock of staravia, so they go a few months without until they're able to get new ones.

The gist of what Optical's boots look like (tbf I draw them differently each time. no set design lel)

Optical wanted them to look like an extension of the legs, so that at a quick glance you don't realize they're actually platforms and not some metal boots

the foot seamlessly fits into the boot and locks up tightly, it feels like walking on stilts and is somewhat difficult to balance on them with the hovering turned off, Optical takes them off whenever the hoverballs need to be replaced or recharged and get pissy about how short they are without them

at the back on the top of the boot a hoverball is attached, these things are pretty janky and basically lock the user at the height they selected. Optical adjusts the height through wireless connection to control their movement

the boots can carry two people at most, with any more weight causing them to drift downwards. not like Opti has the strength to carry someone anyways. bro is a twig

Ze depends heavily on having a strong support system, whether that's insys or externally; it's hard to get close to her at the beginning, but once you do, you have a fiercely loyal friend who'll make you gifts (usually in the form of art), shower you in infodumps, oblivious to if you're actually interested or not, and will always get excited about anything you're excited about! PREFACING THIS ART WITH AN "I'm sorry I didn't lean more into the SU side of things" I am being so fr I don't wanna mess with trying to figure out more gem-like outfits for them so they're basically the same except with limited palettes and also gems. I don't think it's actually gonna matter to anyone but ANSJKNKDGJ if I don't open with that my brain will Explode. /lh

Girlfriend is a red diamond. Boyfriend is a peridot. Pico is a green spinel.

GIRLFRIEND:

Went with a diamond cuz of the status thing. I am almost worried it feels like too easy of a pull but I doonnn't care I think it'd be fun if she was a diamond. :) Red obviously because it's her color.

Playing off the status thing; ofc her parents would also be diamonds and so you can have the reasoning of "oh this isn't a high-rank gem" for them not liking Boyf. I mean if you need any reasoning aside from them just being unreasonable LOL but that's always there.

Placement on her chest because !! love !!!! That's also why it's a heart-shaped cut instead of a. Diamond shape.

My backup assignment for her would be a jasper because I think it'd suit her well to be any quartz, and with jasper you can get close to her reds !! The status thing is really what made me decide on a diamond tho.

As I type this I realize there are some vaaaguee similarities to Pink I could pull as extra reasoning but shruuuugs my brain is NOT in an analytical mood rn so I'll just let others chew on that for me.

This isn't really relevant to RGB but I wanna mention it: I think it'd be funny if the demon henchmen were rubies.

BOYFRIEND:

The biggest factor for me going peridot with him is the fact that a common headcanon for canon Peridot is that she's autistic and while I mostly work with ADHD Boyf myself (since that's the experience I can pull from personally)... I am a sucker for a good autistic/AuDHD read with him.

This man is short and Era 2 peridots are short. If I drew him SU style this guy would need limb enhancers. lol

Instead of a prohibition symbol his shirt has the outline of a star. I just find that neat. :)

He would sooooooo suck at a peridot's role but also iirc in canon he's a college drop out anyways so it cancels out. He's got that Greg Universe in him.

Honestly, I put his gem placement on the back of his hand bc I had no clue where else to put it. My secondary placement for it would be on his forehead bc it'd make me giggle with him being Dumb but canon Peridot already has the forehead placement so I didn't go ahead with that.

This is my little indulgent one I really. I really love canon Spinel. This is tangential but like I literally have 4 spinel OCs and then another 4 furry OCs with designs based on canon Spinel. The urge to make One Of Them a spinel was going to be there.

The juxtaposition of him being a gem with an entertainer role and also a hard-ass hitman makes me giggle. Idk I feel like if you already know canon Spinel then you can probably connect the dots as to why I'd imagine him as a spinel as well.

Heart cut because I find it cute and it matches GF. I think a spade shape could be fun too but idk I prefer just going with a heart. Placement on his upper back because. :) Because he can't easily shield it from damage that way. He has to be constantly aware of his surroundings, unless he wants to give someone the chance for an easy hit on him if they sneak up from behind. Little paranoia thing to fuck with him. I'm so nice to Pico !! :D

Bringing back the status thing with GF's parents; I can't help but giggle thinking abt them hiring him. Imagine you get recommended this really good hitman and you meet up and it's a fucking court jester. Fucking ego hit but DD needs the job done so he hires him anyways. AND THEN PICO DOESN'T EVEN CARRY OUT THE FUCKING HIT. Never hiring a clown off of Craigslist again. /JOKING

First IF MCs Post!

So I've been playing IFs going on five years now, but I think I've only ever made one post about who they are, like, a year or two ago. They mostly only exist on the discord discussions or DMs with fellow IF fans because I also have no art skill (though I should post the Infamous fics I have in my drafts eventually--).

All that to say, getting a shoutout from @loveandleases herself (STILL RIDING THAT HIGH) has finally given me the kick I need to post about some of my MCs. This might open a floodgate for MANY of my OCs that I still yet have to talk about, so everyone beware!

First up, my Cam-mancer, Peridot "Dot" (last name tbd)! (Might change her eyes to hazel, but I'm keeping this picrew image for now.)

She started out very similar to my Infamous main, Genevieve, but now she's come into a life of her own. Has been hopelessly in love with Cam for most of her life, but resigned herself to just happily being his best friend (not knowing, of course, what the rest of us know about Cam--). Chris and Jade's betrayal stung, especially with what it solidified about the kind of people those two are, but I think a big part of her arc is realizing that she's not as heartbroken as she thinks she should have been about it. Then it's just her reconciling the years lost.

Anyway, she's a quiet, sweet woman, who normally doesn't mind not having attention on herself, but she's mostly become that way because of Jade demanding so much. She's also an artist, often preferring to spend evenings in the quiet, painting and sketching. I think she definitely has a stash of paintings she's made of Cam's pictures that she gives to him on bad days or his birthdays. She's a passable cook, but a far more enthused baker. It's mostly a calming activity for her when she's stressed, though her friends and loved ones certainly enjoy the results. The Clarke parents still talk about her pear custard recipe, even after the breakup.

She's still relatively new, along with the other MC I'm about to share, so I'll probably think of even more details as they grow and as the game progresses!

Anyway, now for Jumana, my G-mancer!

Jumana (last name also tbd) goes back to my usual trend with making MCs: she's of Lebanese heritage. She's a departure, however, because she's got grey eyes instead of brown like I usually give my Lebanese-coded MCs. She also met G during her goth phase in college (it slowly just turned to grunge), so this is the look that eventually grabbed G by the throat. She's not afraid to throw punches, but will try to talk people down first. Unless she's mad. Then all bets are off. Someone will be thrown across a desk. She is Very strong, and Very scrappy and she will not be fucked with.

Anyway, she's also a Literature Nerd and is almost always reading, especially in inconvenient spots. It drove G insane, because they never seemed to see her study in public, so HOW was she keeping up with their grades--

I do think, however, she's not a particularly ambitious person. I think she got high grades like G and that got under their skin and their reaction tickled her so much that she just. Kept trying to get high grades so she could keep getting a reaction out of them. Honestly, if G hadn't been there, she might not have tried so hard in college. But she definitely had a crush on them well before they probably realized their own feelings. Losing G gutted her, they were It for her. Chris was absolutely a rebound, and maybe a bit of self-punishment. Maybe a terrible part of her hoped being with Chris would one day get G angry enough to come back to her life, tell her to be with them, not Chris.

Now that Chris and Jade have royally betrayed her? Well. Jumana has ideas for making their lives miserable without her actually getting involved with them again, and that goes for her parents too, for their own betrayal--

I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes on, but in the meantime, these are my gals! Can't wait to see how they fit into the game!

New oc!! Her name is Runa Yotsugi

She's a Pjofur, I'd recommend everyone to read @/zombiecicada document explaining the species!!

Summarize:

Runa Yotsugi is a young Pjofur who runs away from her home after the accusation of plotting against the royal family and consecutive execution of her entire family. She dislikes people who view her and her deceased family as traitors due to this mistrust born from the false accusation. She is aware that the accusation is false and often tries to defend the name of her family. She does not care about what others believe or think about her name and she is willing to persist in the innocence of her family, no matter what

Personality

At first, Runa is cool and reserved, keeping her distance emotionally and physically from others, not approaching them in any way and rarely starts a conversation by will. Her attitude often borders on sarcastic or even cynical with a distant and cold way of speaking when she's addressing people she's unfamiliar with. This behavior is a way to protect herself from attachment.

Her biggest fear is to be alone and being tricked, she will lose all of her trust in people if they are greatly dishonest with her. However, behind this mask, Runa hides a kind and gentle heart, capable of deep compassion and selfless devotion. Her compassion and kindness makes her the type of person who cannot ignore misdeeds being committed or turn her back on others who are in an unfortunate predicament, this because she can easily sympathize with the unfortunate people and would never wish someone else to go through what she experienced. Runa can also feel empathy for her enemies if she learns that they have redeeming qualities or if a tragic past led them to what they are. This makes her easily manipulative though.

Background

Runa is a first-class Pjofur, her parents were skilled in the fabrication of armours and weapons for off world exploration. The exact reason behind the accusation is unknown, but all of them were incriminated of conspiring against the royal family. No matter how much they tried, nothing worked to save them and they ended up executed except for Runa who managed to evade the execution thanks to her father, although instead of running away from her home, she tried to seek refuge, relying on her acquaintances. However, she was betrayed and exposed to the authorities on several occasions by people who were once close to her, this destroyed Runa's trust and forced her to take extreme measures: Fleeing her home planet and never return

Right after leaving Morgunstjarna, Runa almost lost her life in an accident due to her inexperience in the outside world but when it seemed that she would die a white-haired woman rescued her and temporarily took her in. Communication between the two was complicated due to the language barrier, the woman spoke a dead language that Runa could not decipher, leaving all her questions unanswered. One day, the woman disappears, leaving Runa with a ferret that would later be named Hele because it was able to see the future, ability that Runa would see as a blessing since it saved the inexperienced Pjofur multiple times from unfortunate situations

Not much is known about Hele. Apparently it is a pet that previously accompanied the White-haired woman. Hele got extremely attached to Runa after the disappearance of its original owner. Hele enjoys exploring and it tends to run away from the shelter that was previously the woman's place, much for Runa's annoyance. Hele has an affinity to steal whatever they see, including objects heavier and bigger than them

Hele can see the future and it often guides Runa to the right path

Fun facts&More about her:

★ Runa is inspired in Nanachi from Made in Abyss, Yotsugi Ononoki from Bakemomogatari and Peridot from Steven Universe

★ Runa dislikes rain and is afraid of thunderstorms

★ Originally in her firsts concepts she was going to have pink fluffy hair, blue eyes and blue clothes with a helmet made with the skull of a depredator with false ears. This was scrapped but she keep her helmet in the final product

★ She used to be really close to her parents and they teach her how to create armours since a young age. Thanks to what she learned, she created a helmet to protect her head

★ Runa dislikes her tail because she believes it is unnecessary and a burden. However, her tail became really useful in the outside world

★ She has Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Any mention of death or explicit depictions of it will trigger her

★ Runa always tries to evade conflicts

★ She uses her cynical behavior to keep herself safe and often does sarcastic comments on her sometimes absurd situations

FANTOCCIO FACTS POST (from screenshots i found in my own interests server)

- His name is italian for puppet, but he pronounces it incorrectly and insists it’s the correct way to say his name if anyone else points it out and says he’s wrong.

- He’s not from Italy, obviously. Goes to show. But Ash imagines he knows a bit of italian. (“Not enough Italian to say his name right.” - Katie.)

- Fantoccio has a pet shark named Sharkspeare! Mentioned in the song at the line “‘Cause Sharkspeare’s looking mean!”

- Fantoccio has to make all his own props, set pieces, clothes, etc in the theatre.

- Would never smoke, and would hate being around it/people who’re doing it actively.

- Fantoccio was made by Ash as a fan OC for the game, and this (as far as I’m aware) is what got them hired onto the game, cause Katie loved their ideas so much.

- Fantoccio is not very good with kids.

- Fantoccio’s favorite food is churros. This came from the fact Ash once had a dream about him infodumping about them cause he loved them so much, so they made it canon.

- He’d dislike the idea of seafood. (“He’d be like “Why would anyone want to eat a fish?!” And cover Sharkspeare’s nonexistent ears like “Don’t listen to them!””)

- The red feather in his hat is also used as a pen!

- Fantoccio is a being of pure magic, having an entire magic gem be his whole life source. This means he can use magic endlessly without getting tired (I believe)!

- Fantoccio is 23, he/him, and pansexual.

- His face is made using magic. It disappears when/if he’s magic-less.

- Fantoccio can absolutely feel pain.

- When it comes to nature, Ash said he’d kinda be like Rarity from MLP:FiM, but certain kinds of nature he’d still really love. He’d really dislike walking through the wild or camping in general, but loves things like snow or flower fields. Just depends!

- Fantoccio would main Bowser in Mario Kart.

-In terms of favorite Halloween treats, Fantoccio would like anything chewy and fruity (no chocolate)!

- Canonically wears eyeliner.

- Magic sparks from his fingertips when he’s very excited!

- If Fantoccio was an animal, Ash says he’d be a cat.

Peridot Rises AU:

Peridot ended up in a coma after Dice attempted to fulfill their dying wish. Doctor Wells comes across them and takes them in, curing their disease and hooking them up to machines and such to keep them alive. Eventually, they wake up, horrified at still being alive, but thankful to Doctor Wells for saving them.

After some more time healing, they get discharged from the hospital and go find Dice. Of course, they are grateful to see him, but they aren’t surprised to see Dice’s face. He thinks they’re a ghost, which terrifies him.

Peridot eventually helps Dice realize that they’re still very much alive, which complicates things significantly, as Dice had other partners now.

Here are the two versions of this AU title:

This is the first actual AU I made. There are two versions of this plot 'cause I can't decide which one is better; although I found the 2nd plot version interesting.

1st Plot Version:

This AU is about two rival teams who fight each other to see which team is better and stronger.

2nd Plot Version:

Your OC falls into the game arcade or game online where you end up witnessing two rival teams fighting each other to see which team is better and stronger. The game gives you the instruction that the only way to leave the game is to defeat all the main 8 game players in each team. To defeat them easily, your OC must know their weakness closely and learn their skills by joining their team (whether Team A or Team B) and later betraying the team by faking your death and joining the other team for the same reason but with your new identity (whether Team A or Team B). Soon after the two teams find out your intentions, all of them have turn against you and begin to belittle you, but they all agree to challenge you to see who are the greatest.

Velvet:

She can also perform close range combat but she prefer to use her powers due to her laziness to fight physically and hate end up getting smelling someone else's sweat, especially Pam's sweat.

Her energy projection powers were inspired by Blackfire from Teen Titans

She's the clever of the twins, as well as cunning.

She and Midori form a rivalry due to their intelligence, cunning, and skillful.

She and Midori prefer each other as opponents to shove on their face and see who's better.

Veneer:

Kid Ritz:

With a speaker design on his suit, he can activate sonic waves powers.

His ultimate powers is he can use his powers in a higher or highest volume to create a great impact. However, it will drain quickly but if not use, especially longer, it will charge for 5 hours. He can still use the ultimate power while charging but it will not as much impact as usual.

He's immune to hearing damage.

Accompany with three star floating cameras, he can use it for intense flashlights to blind the opponent by saying the word "Freeze!" or "Jeez!", and and can use it to flight by stepping one of it; probably like a floating hoverboard. He can also use it for speaker with a accompany of mic.

He can use his mic and a mic cable wire as a whip to hit or tie the opponent.

Kid Ritz describe his opponent (Justin) as stupid 'cause he's not a challenging enough and wish he could find a better opponent so he can feel that this is actually challenging.

He was actually force to join the combat since he isn't really fan of combat or fight, so he prefer to take this battle seriously and tries to find his way to get this battle quickly done. Although there are some moments where he low-key actually enjoys it especially when his opponent is actually challenging but still isn't fan of it.

He's a ambivert.

His main opponent is Justin.

Orchid:

Orchid can manipulate and manifest all the plants, leaves, vines, flowers, and cactus.

She can manifest it through grounds, sands, and water places (like lakes, rivers) as long as any plants and dirt exist everywhere.

She can also manifest it through her hands, though only flowers she can manifest it; probably one, two, or more.

She likes to practice her powers so she can develop more skills for the next battle, as well as discovering more of her powers.

Likes to show to her teammates about her little effort of growing any types of flowers on her hands.

She's a extrovert.

Her main opponent is Echo.

Team B

Pamenilia:

She has a superhuman strength, can run and move faster, carry heavy object as long as she can, and jump higher compare the rest of these characters.

She knows a lot about combat skills, very gymnast, flexible, agility, and durability.

Like the twins, she also have a ultimate powers activate but more on strength, as well as speed. In order to activate/charge her ultimate strength, she must need to have a physical contact with heat temperature surrounds her and she can only use her powers with just one punch. Her body can charge quickly whenever she encounter an extreme heat temperature.

List of heat temperature she can physical contact with to activate her ultimate power:

- Facing herself to the sunlight. - Bathe herself in the heat water though it will not be quick or slow, unless the water were extremely heat. As well as lava. - She can attach herself to some heat surface like metals from machine or others. - Veneer's heat powers. The longer he physically touch/shoot her with his powers, the quickly charge she gets. However, she won't use her powers to hit him just for fair and square unless if the twins use their ultimate powers to defeat her, she'll do the same. - The twins' ultimate powers. The longer they physically touch/shoot her with their powers with just one hit, the quickly charge she gets.

She can save her ultimate powers for next time if it's not use today.

She's the most positive of all the characters.

She carries the cheerful, joyous, energetic and positive personality everyday, even during battle.

It's almost impossible to make her mad or upset.

Exercise everyday.

She and Veneer don't mind each other being opponent as they enjoy fighting, annoy, and teasing each other in a fun way.

Almost always sweaty, much to Velvet's disgust.

Some people, even her friends/group mate theorize her that she might be a daughter or relatives to Apollo who is the God of Sun due to her association with the Sun, although her body only requires heat temperature to activate her ultimate powers.

She's a extrovert.

Her main opponent is Veneer.

Midori:

Expert at throwing randomly sharp objects within a seconds.

Has a ninja skills.

Her physical powers were strong metal strength, as well as metal telekinetic.

She was underestimate by Velvet for having a lame powers that doesn't have shooting powers, which it offense her until she proves it to her by shooting her shuriken within seconds to prevent her from using her powers; not hitting her hands but passing by. This makes Velvet finally impressed and see her as a great opponent.

She and Velvet form a rivalry due to their intelligence, cunning, and skillful.

The only difference between them is that she's more challenging, more skillful than her and a bit psychopath and bit obsessive, even to the point where in her room, she has a bunch of knives pinning at the picture of Velvet.

She and Velvet prefer each other as opponents to shove on their face and see who's better.

Likes to show off her knives, sharp weapons, and her achievement battle to her teammates, especially Velvet to piss her off.

She's a ambivert.

Her main opponent is Velvet.

Echo:

She has a destructive powers, anything she touch can destroy it.

Echo can shoot her powers far away just to destroy the object.

She has a explosive powers.

Almost her design and palette were inspired by Raven from Teen Titans.

Despite the situation, she always stays calm and serious. Almost always never express her other emotion.

She can get annoyed when people annoyed her, mostly Justin and/or Orchid.

She often enjoying tormenting Justin whenever he annoys her.

She often enjoys hanging out with Pam and Orchid.

Her main opponent is Orchid.

Justin:

Always carries his paint bombs, as well as his paint sprayer.

Skills at yo-yo, so he always carries his two handmade, almost unbreakable yo-yos, even his strings, for the battle.

The fun one. Like Pam, he's also a energetic.

He and Pam were best friends.

Justin is quite not serious in this battle, this is why he often got easily defeated by Kid Ritz, but he barely win the battle.

He's scared of going to Midori's room due to her having a collection of sharp objects, even her chandelier design is full of shuriken, and lastly, all the knives pinning at the picture of Velvet.

He always brings his slingshot and his paintball gun.

He carries his paint powder explosive to distract his opponent.

He's somewhat a street smart.

His clothes and weapons were inspired by Gumball Waterson during the season 2 episode "The Fridge" in The Amazing World Of Gumball.

He's a extrovert.

His main opponent is Kid Ritz.

None of these characters have a ability to flight. Although they can use their abilities or gadgets to fly like Kid Ritz can fly due to using his floating cameras as floating hoverboard.

Summary: Movie star Vinsmoke Sanji and his personal assistant, Peridot "Peri" Winters, head out to a known pirate island to film his next big movie. Will Sanji be able to keep his feelings for Peri hidden? Just how many mints can one man ask for before it gets suspicious?

notes: I am very much thinking about all my favorite kdrama tropes and business romances while writing this. Just light, angsty fun :)

CH 1

Peri stares across the table at the woman interviewing her boss, her blood roaring in her ears. Sure that, this time, she'd misheard this same asinine question she's been hounded by ever since she took this job position.

Who would've known that being the personal assistant to one Vinsmoke Sanji, movie star, would immediately relegate her to an existence where questions like “Tell me Sanji, has your new assistant made any romantic gestures towards you?” and “Sanji, have you been able to set boundaries with your new assistant?” were the only acknowledgement she warranted. And the questions weren't even directed at her! She'd be hovering right there in the background, standing just behind Sanji as he faced down a line of reporters. And no one had asked her once if she was busy swooning over Vinsmoke Sanji instead of doing her job, it was just assumed she was. Peri wouldn’t even be within eyesight of reporters if she had any say over how she did her work. But Sanji insisted upon her constant presence wherever he went. Gods forbid she not be nearby to address his every request. So, the reporters spotted her and directed their salacious questions to Sanji, looking for juicy gossip that didn’t exist. 

Because she was not, by the way, swooning over him. As far as she was concerned, Vinsmoke Sanji could keep his dashing good looks and debonair charm all to himself. It was enough that her job meant she had to deal with his persnicketiness, his constant demands on her time, his chaotic schedule. She had no room to add a crush on him to her already extensive list of responsibilities. 

Peri never even would've taken this job- despite the fact she was a damn good personal assistant- if her last job hadn't imploded and if her friend, Tak, hadn't gotten her the referral.

“Come on, it's perfect!” Tak pleads with her. “You'll move up the career ladder from pigheaded, rude as hell businessman to movie star.” Tak fans her hands through the air theatrically as she says this. “And we'll get to work together all the time! Perfect!”

“I don't know, Tak,” Peri groans, face shoved into a pillow on her bed. “There's no way I'm getting a reference from that bastard. How am I gonna get past a background check to work for a celebrity?” Peri groaned into her pillow again, for emphasis. 

“Don't worry about that, Peri. I'm the only one Sanji will let touch his hair and Rachel loves me. I'll talk to her about your situation- generally, no details, so stop glaring at me- she'll give you a chance, I promise.” 

Peri held onto her glare for a few seconds longer, before dropping her head back to the pillow, smushing her cheek against the plush material. She knew Tak was right and she needed to capitalize on the immense benefits of having a best friend who was the sole hair stylist for the premier celebrity of the East Blue. Peri had even met Sanji's agent, Rachel a handful of times through Tak towing her along to posh social gatherings. Though she hadn’t done more than see Sanji from afar across a crowded room of VIPs. 

“What would I do without you, Tak?” 

Her best friend shivers, wiggling her shoulders and holding her palm up. “Please, Peridot, don't make me think about it. Your life without me is too bleak to contemplate.” Tak winks at her and Peri laughs. 

Maybe things would be okay.

Wrong. Things were not okay. Those were the catalyst (catastrophic?) events that led her to sitting across from an eager-eyed reporter, staring at Sanji hungrily as she asked, “Sanji, the readers are dying to know. Your assistant is always close at hand these days-” a suggestive eyebrow raise, “Is she a fan of yours?” 

Peri is sitting right here. At the same table! Because she's an outstanding professional, she resists rolling her eyes (and throwing her coffee at the woman, though her fingers twitch against the mug menacingly).     

Sanji smiles good-naturedly at the reporter. “Ah my assistant is with me today because-” Peri tenses as Sanji drapes his arm around the back of her chair though he doesn't touch her, leaning in towards the reporter as he takes on a conspiratorial tone. “We're waiting for some important news today. I didn't want Peri too far away when it came.” 

This piques the reporter's interest. “Oh? This wouldn't have anything to do with rumors about a new Smith Stiegal film in the works, now would it?” Peri didn't miss the way the reporter eyed Sanji's hand lolling near her shoulder. Her eyes hawkish, like she didn’t want to miss a suggestive brush of Sanji’s fingers against Peri’s shoulder. There wouldn’t be one. 

“Now Miss Asher, I couldn't possibly say could I, darling?” Sanji smiles smoothly at the reporter, withdrawing his arm and any acknowledgement that Peri is at this table drops away. 

Miss Asher attempts to get Sanji to dish out a few morsels regarding the rumored newest action adventure film in the works from renowned director Smith Stiegal (which Sanji obviously cannot confirm or deny). All the hard work she put in to make these interviews even happen, brushed off and replaced with greedy hopes that some lucky reporter would catch her blushing at the movie star. Peri stews, recounting the earlier conversation that landed her at this table- being treated as if she's a fan waiting for her turn to take a picture with Sanji instead of the person responsible for him even being at this interview.

“My darling periwinkle,” (not her name) “I need you at that table with me today! Please, love, understand! The call about the role could come from Rachel at any moment. I want to be right there when you get it.” Sanji's pleading smile was irritatingly puppy-dog-like (and very annoying, not at all adorable). 

“Sanji,” she said, shaking her head. “I don't know. This interview is with East Q magazine. They're a big deal. I'm not sure it's appropriate for your assistant to be at the table. I'll be nearby. You'll be the first person to know if Rachel calls.” 

Sanji pouts. “Come on, Pear-” (also not her name, but Sanji had taken to calling her that and occasionally producing an actual pear to gift her with, which she braced for now and, oh wait-) Sanji produces a single pear-green rose from behind his back. “Please stay with me? This is a big moment for me, Pear. I need-” He broke off abruptly, looking down at the rose extended in his hand, then back up into her eyes. “I need my assistant at my side. I'm afraid I can't budge on this, Peri.” (that was her name, and an indicator that Sanji has slipped into serious, boss mode). 

Peri sighs, taking the proffered rose out of Sanji's hand and lifting it to her nose, letting the delicate floral scent soothe her. “Okay, Sanji. I'll be there.”

Sanji's answering smile is gorgeous, just like everything else about him. A large part of her hated letting Sanji get his way, which was rather bothersome when her entire job mostly centered around making sure things went exactly Sanji's way.

Sanji's previous assistant- an older gentleman named Harold- had decided to take an early retirement. Or, had he been forced into it rather than suffer through one more pandering socialite conversation, Peri thought darkly as the interviewer continued to lavish praise on Sanji. Peri mostly tuned them out. They’d talk about her like she wasn’t there anyway, she might as well pretend not to be. 

A half hour after the interview with East Q wrapped, the call from Rachel finally came. Sanji and Peri were still seated in the private room at the cafe where Miss Asher conducted her interview, the remnants of lunch spread on the table before them. 

At the first ring of Peri’s phone, Sanji drops his fork, bouncing out of his seat. “Bloody hell, Pear. What if they didn't pick me for the role!? What if this is the beginning of the end of my entire career!?” He runs both hands through his hair, mussing it to match his distress. 

“Sanji, calm down, you're going to get the role,” Peri says, rising from her seat as she presses accept on the call. She was very confident she was right. Everyone wanted a piece of Sanji right now. She had to admit (begrudgingly) that he was an excellent actor. Electric on screen. Smith Stiegal would be wild not to capitalize on Sanji's talent and popularity. 

“Rachel, hi!”

“Peri, is Sanji with you? Are you alone?” 

Peri resists another eye roll. Of course Sanji is with her- Sanji's always with her these days. “Yes, Rachel, I'll put you on speaker. We’re alone.” 

“Great! Sanji?”

Sanji rakes an anxious hand through his hair again. “Rachel, yes, what did they say?” 

“You've got the part, Sanji!” 

Sanji blew out a relieved breath and even Peri couldn't help the grin that broke across her face. Sanji stares at the phone in Peri's hand held between them, speechless as Rachel gushes about how excited they are to work with Sanji. Then, before Peri can compute what's happening, Sanji's arms are around her, gripping her waist tight, lifting her off her feet as he spins them in a circle. 

“We did it, Peri!”

A laugh sneaks out of her before she can stop it. But Sanji's joy is infectious and soon she’s giggling.  

“A Smith Stiegal movie, Pear! I can't believe it! This is huge!” He finally stops spinning them, setting her down on wobbly feet. His arms loose around her waist, her arms (phone still in hand) dangling around his shoulders. 

She feels a little breathless as she says, “I told you that you'd get the part. Congratulations, Sanji.” 

Sanji coughs, taking a step back, his arms falling away from her. “Thank you, Peri.” His smile is sheepish. 

“Hello? Hello? Peri? Sanji? Are you listening to me? What’s going on?” 

Peri remembers the phone clutched in her hand. “Rachel! So sorry, what was that?” 

“I need you and Sanji down at the office asap. The lawyers are on the way to review the contract and the schedule for shooting.” 

“Of course. We'll be there right away.” Peri ends the call, looking up to a smiling Sanji, his cheeks tinged with pink.

Peri is left to her own devices (literally as she types away, responding to scheduling requests for interviews, photoshoots, etc. for Sanji) while the contract negotiations take place. Her mind wanders back to Sanji's surprise hug. 

As aggravated as Peri gets with Sanji's demands on her time and requests for particulars, he's never inappropriate with her. Or, rather, not inappropriate in a way that made her want to break his nose and shatter her employability in the entirety of the East Blue. Sanji was charming, he was flirty. She was used to this. He generally directed it towards her at a lower wattage than he dialed it up for his fans and professional contacts. Sinfully suave and wickedly beautiful- that's just the way Sanji came.

But during her stint as his assistant, he had always been respectful of her. Sure, there were the nicknames and the occasional gifted fruit (and that single rose today), but Sanji never made her feel uncomfortable or worried for her safety with him. And the nicknames just felt so…Sanji. Integral to who he was. He’d slipped into using them with her slowly and so naturally that she’s actually not sure how long it took her to notice it. It’s hypocritical, she knows, to not be offended by it because it’s Sanji. When she would be offended if it were someone else. She’s decided not to investigate this too deep though- it just doesn’t fit in her packed calendar. -=a3NB           A

He had never hugged her before. His anxiety and relief today had been so genuine, so human. And of course, Peri knew he was a person too. Albeit an obscenely famous person, but still, human, like her. It was just that, today, it almost felt like they were friends. If hadn't felt like her boss crossing an inappropriate physical boundary with her. It felt like a friend receiving life changing news and celebrating that with her. Peri didn't know what to do with that bizarre realization. 

“Peri, we need you in here!” Rachel pokes her head out of her office, waving Peri inside as the team of lawyers file out. 

“What's up?” Peri asks, settling into the chair beside Sanji.

“Pear, love, do you have any of those mints I like?” 

Peri rummages around in her tote bag for the mints in question (the only brand, Sanji insists, whose minty flavor isn't disgustingly artificial). She drops one into his open palm, her attention on Rachel.

“So here's the deal, Peri darling, the schedule for the movie is full steam ahead. They want to begin table reads on location in two weeks. So-” 

Peri interrupts, picking up on a couple keywords. “On location? They want us where in two weeks, exactly?” Narrowing her eyes at Rachel’s clearly placating tone. 

“Well, you see darling, Stiegal wants a very authentic feel for the movie, so it's not going to be filmed here in Vennport. Stiegal’s crew is already all set up on Crow Island, so you'll just need to get Sanji’s affairs in order and head on over.” 

This was theoretically fine. Movies filmed at a location outside of Vennport is common enough, though Peri hadn't yet traveled outside of the city with Sanji for any filming. What really made her aware that Rachel was asking for something challenging was the way she clacked away on her keyboard and took on an air of nonchalance as she delivered this information. Rachel was not nonchalant. She was direct, sharp, no nonsense but in a decidedly theatrical way. 

“Is this fourteen business days Rachel or…?” 

Rachel huffs. “Next Friday. They need Sanji there by next Friday.” 

“Okay, that's ten literal days from now.” 

“Yes, dear. So you'd better get to planning, chop chop.” 

“Rachel. That's like a five day trip at sea to get to Crow Island! Also, isn't that a known pirate port?”

“The movie is about pirates, Peri. Hence the authenticity.” 

Peri was authentically losing her faith in Smith Stiegal's organization and planning skills. Seems like they could’ve given Sanji and the agency a bit more time to prepare for a trip. But this was the industry, demands moved fast and she was expected to keep up. 

“So, to summarize, I need to plan and prepare for a months long trip that we need to leave for in five days?” 

“I knew you'd understand, you're a peach.” 

“Pear,” Sanji muttered. At first she thought he was requesting her attention, but when he didn't look at her or go on, she realized he was simply correcting Rachel's fruit name of choice. Peri shakes her head, bemused. 

There was really nothing for it. Peri would start with plans immediately. She was already running through her mental rolodex of travel companies the agency worked with. 

“Oh and Peri, don't worry about the security detail. The production company has a whole team over there and the agency will of course send a few personal bodyguards along to look after Sanji. Just connect with Sal and he'll make sure you're set.” Rachel waved her hand in a dismissal. 

Peri hadn't been worried about security. Everywhere Sanji went, agency-provided security guards came along. It was protocol. Necessary for Sanji's safety. Peri wasn't afraid of pirates- at least not in theory. But the way Rachel casually mentioned the production company's security detail made her wonder if she ought to be. Crow Island was well known in this part of the East Blue for it's breathtaking vistas (not that Peri had ever been) and it's rowdy pub scene (rumored to service many a pirate partaking in leisure activities). Honestly, most of the stories about Crow Island she'd heard involved debauchery, not dodgy pirates. Then again, maybe Rachel was just worried about Sanji getting into a different kind of scandal. The press will certainly look for anything to sensationalize (for example, a P.A. doing her job). 

She turns to Sanji. “Can you get home on your own today? I'll call the car for you. But I need to speak with Sal and start booking accommodations.”

Sanji stood to follow her. “It's okay, Pear, I'll wait for you.”

High seas forbid, Sanji find himself without her and in need of a mint. Leading the way out of Rachel's office, Peri allowed herself an eye roll Sanji couldn't see. Once the door closed behind them, Peri turned. 

“Sanji, honestly, it's going to be hours. I've got so much to get done and you've got the rest of your afternoon free, for once. Go enjoy it! Rest.” Peri claps her hands together. “Oh! Pack! That would be helpful. You can get started on the basics.” 

“When are you going to pack?” Sanji asks. Peri shrugs dismissively, already moving down the hall to find Sal.

Sanji jogs to catch up, surprising her for the second time that day with a hand at her elbow, stopping her. 

“I'll go home.” Sanji pauses. Long, slim fingers still wrapped around her arm. “Ask Sal to send Elle and Robbie with us. They're both excellent at their job.” With that, Sanji releases her arm. “See you tomorrow, Peri.” And walks away, leaving Peri's skin tingling where his hand had been.
